Now Gen VII is on the horizon and there's been a fair bit of time to look back on this current generation, what are people's views on it?
For me it's been bit of a weird one. The transition to full 3D isn't something i'm keen on (Much prefer the charm the sprites had) and it's been weird not having that third gen (Which I think would have fixed a lot of X and Y's problems). But it was nice to revisit RS in the form of ORAS. Can't really fault those remakes. They tacked on a cool extra at the end with Delta episode and I loved the redesigns for Aqua and Magma.
With the few new designs we got for generation VI I think as a whole they're all good in my book. Just wish there was more.
One other addition that was quite big was mega evolutions which i've still not budged my opinion on. They really make the games one sided and some of the Pokemon who received megas could have just as well had evolutions. Now they're stuck in this horrible limbo (Banette's mega form could easily have been an evo, or Mawile's etc). Then there's Pokemon who aren't half bad who got a boost to make them even more powerful. Would rather they had just designed them as evolutions for those that needed them and worked on designing newer material.
