Dan's eyes slowly slid open as he awoke from his slumber. With a yawn he stretched as he sat up in bed. 'Today is the day,' he realized with excitement. He quickly got up and started getting ready for the day. Showering, getting dressed, and packing his things. He was just about to rush out the door when his mother called him back.
"Daniel get back here!" Dan quickly came at his mother's call, she was not a lady to trifle with. "You haven't eat yet Daniel." She started, with a stern look on her face, "and besides that you haven't even said goodbye to your father or me." Dan flushed slightly as he saw that the table was set with plates, and each plate was full of food. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes. He sat down where he usually sat as he apologized. "Sorry Mom, I'm just excited is all."
Clara chuckled and nodded at her son. "I know dear. But this is going to be the last time we're together for a while. I just want us to eat one last meal together." 'I guess that explains the spread', Dan thought to himself. They ate together and discussed his journey. "I'm glad you've finally started to take up a pokemon journey Son." His father said.
"After you turned 12 we thought you wouldn't have gone at all. But I'm glad you decided to. I remember my pokemon journey, it's a very good experience for all young people to have." His parent's weren't aware that this was not you're standard pokemon journey. While he did plan on traveling around and getting his badges, his main goal was to defeat team rocket. Of course he was not telling either of his parents this, they'd only worry and forbid him from leaving the house ever again. So instead he just smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, I'm really excited. I'm heading over to Professor Elm's after breakfast." Joshua pointed his fork at Dan. "Now you be nice to him, he's a good man and a personal friend of mine." Dan rolled his eyes and cracked a grin. "Come on Dad, when am I ever not nice?"
Joshua chuckled at his son. "Just be on your best behavior sport." Dan laughed and nodded. Having finished his breakfast he got up, kissed both his parents on the cheek, said he loved them, and headed out the door. The family lived on the southeast side of town so it was just a quick walk to the professor's lab, though Dan jogged over in excitement. As the glass doors slid open he waved to a few scientists in the lab as he headed over to the profesor .
He was standing at some machine or another, looking over some data. "Morning professor!" Dan called out to him. He turned around and smiled as he saw the young man. "Ah Dan, good to see you." The scientist said with a smile. "I wasn't expecting you so early." Dan laughed nervously. "Yeah I was just eager to start I guess. I can come back later if you want." Elm waved his hand, dismissing the idea. "Nonsense, you're hear now, and now is as good a time as any."
He moved over to a nearby machine that held three pokeballs. "Now normally, you'd be able to choose from three pokemon from the Johto region, however my stock of them were recently stolen, so I've had to have some from the Kanto region sent to me." Dan clenched his fist at that, figuring that it was Team Rocket who had stolen them. Professor Elm proceeded to describe the three, Bulbasaur, the grass type, Charmander, the fire type and Squirtle, the water type. After some short debate Dan decided on Squirtle. He quickly shook the man's hand. "Thank you so much for this professor." "Of course, it's my job after all." He said with a chuckle.
Dan quickly left the lab and looked at the pokeball in his hand with a massive grin. Pressing the button on the front of the pokeball he tossed it in the air. "Come on out Squirtle!" In a flash of light, a little blue turtle looking creature appeared shouting, "Squirtle!" Dan bent down at his knees and smiled at creature. "Hi I'm Dan, I'm gonna take care of you from now on, mk?" He gently rubbed the water type's head, and the pokemon replied with a smile and a "Squirtle!" "You wanna walk with me buddy?" The squirtle raised a fist in the air. "Squirt squirtle!" Dan laughed and stood up. "I'll take that as a yes." And with that the two set off towards route 29 and the begging of they're adventure.

As Dan walked in Route 20 nearby was a red haired boy with his Chikorita, a pokemon known to be from this Region but hard to find now days in the wild. This Chikorita was hitting a tree with it's head slowly getting tears in it's eyes from the pain. "Again! Tackle!" The Red Haired boy shouted at it's Pokemon who hesitated in doing so from the pain. "What are you doing?! I said Tackle!" The Boy shouted before slapping the back of the Chikorita's head with the back of his hand. The Chikorita then tackled the tree but seemly did nothing. "USELESS! You would think the Professor would have better pokemon." At that moment The Red Haired Boy turned around and spotted Dan with his Squirtle. "A Weakling with a Squirtle? Then you'll be the new training" The Red Haired boy said staring at Dan while the Chikorita gave a look of 'Help me' towards Dan and his Squirtle. The Red Haired boy then gave a cold stare at it's pokemon before speaking, "You better do good." With that said the Chikorita shivered a little before it walked in front of it's not so kind trainer. | "?" challenged you to a matchHe sent out his Lvl 5 Chikorita |

Dan just stood there in complete shock as he watched this trainer force his Chikorita to tackle a tree over and over, despite the fact that it was clearly in pain. Then when it refuse to obey, he backhanded the poor thing on the back of it's head. Dan's fists clenched in rage. He had never seen such an abusive trainer before in his life and fury quickly built up in him. "What the hell is your problem!? You can't treat Pokémon like that!" He couldn't believe that someone like this trainer was even given a Pokémon by the professor. He seemed to only care about strength, rather than the well being of the creatures he was charged with taking care of. It reminded him of a certain group in black and red. "Can't you see that your Chikorita is in no shape to battle?! It doesn't surprise me after all the abuse you put it through! Or are you stupid as well as abusive?" Dan shot as he folded his arms over his chest. He didn't want to battle the poor grass type, it had been through enough suffering. If he had his way, he'd take it and return the poor thing to the professor.

As Dan talked, the red-haired boy just mostly glazed over. While he'd heard stories of these goody two-shoes, he didn't think he'd be encountering one so early on. "Blah blah blah. Sounds to me like you're just making excuses to not battle. Or is your plan to talk me to death?" He asks in the most condescending of tones. He makes a disappointed groan before giving a slight lean back and putting his hands in his pockets. "So either send out your Squirtle, or admit that you lose." He has quite the cocky little grin after suggesting that. After all, it was a trainer battle.

Dan sighed as Silver spoke. 'I can't believe this kid.' He thought to himself. He briefly looked between Silver and his Chikorita. He really didn't want to fight and hurt the poor thing, but he wanted this kid to learn. His jaw clenched, his fist in a tight ball. The young man had an idea, but he wasn't sure if the kid would go for it. He might as well ask though. "Alright fine," He started. "I'll fight, on one condition. If you win, you can take my Squirtle, but if I win..." Dan paused and grined now. "If I win, your Chikorita is mine." He sat there and waited for a response and he thought he'd taunt the kid, get him riled up. "Unless of course you're scared because you know you'll lose." He felt like he was sinking to this kids level, but he deserved it, and may give him a better shot at making sure the Pokémon was safe.

Silver just rolls his eyes, giving a little groan. "Trying to play all high and mighty when you're just as bad as the old man." He accuses Daniel. Hands withdrawing from his pockets, he looks down at the Chikorita then Squirtle again. "Enough talking. I'm plenty sure that your Squirtle's shell is softer than the trees any day. Chikorita, use Tackle!" He calls out. Despite the distaste that the little green mon had for its trainer, it reacts quite quickly, dashing forward to tackle into Squirtle before either could respond. How underhanded! After the solid hit lands, the youth actually looks genuinely pleased with the result. "Wow. Looks like trees weren't the best choice. From now on, only Pokemon as targets." He comments. Chikorita looks... relieved? It's hard to say.

Dan's fist clenched as Squirtle was tackled to the ground. 'That was a dirty move.' Dan thought to himself. "You ok Squirtle?" The little monster stood and shook it self. "Squirtle!" It replied. Dan nodded. If it was a fight the kid wanted, it was a fight he was gonna get. "Alright then let's go! Use Tail whip!"

The unknown assailant watched his opponents frustration, seeing how Daniel clunched their fist in a display of anger. That emotion was the true problem for all trainers, a weakness that most of them shared. He eyed the Daniel, silver eyes trained on the boy as he waited, finding amusement in how the boy acted. As the Squirtle used Tail Whip the red haired boy only chuckled before speaking. "You really think those weak moves will help you. Such a waste of a Squirtle beating it will mean nothing to me." He gazed down at his Chikorita who kept their eyes trained on the battle at hand.
"Chikorita give that washed up water type another tackle, actually put some effort into it this time." Though Begrudgingly the Chikorita ran forward, letting out a battle cry as they went in for the attack. The Chikorita sprinted forward and landing a tackle on Squirtle. It's strength present as the creature did its best. Though the grass type felt envious of Pokemon with trainers like Daniel, trainers that showed true caring for their Pokemon, it didn't mean they hated their own. They would fight for their trainer for as long as they could stand, and do the best that they could. The silver eyed boy watched with a smirk, but did not speak.

Dan growled quietly at the silver haired trainer's word. He took a breath and ignored him though, intent on focusing on the battle. If he lost focus now, the obnoxious trainer before him would win for sure. Squirtle got himself back up and shook himself, getting over the attack, looking slightly banged up. "Hang in there bud! Use Tail Whip again!" Dan cried as he swept an arm out.

"Heh. Meowth got your tongue?" The red headed boy sneered, leering down his nose at Daniel who stood opposite him. "You talked all big but can't even defeat my puny Chikorita. Your Pokemon is even worse than mine!" Shaking his head, almost in disappointment, he pointed a finger toward his opponent. "Perhaps... It should be you handing me your Squirtle once I have destroyed you. I don't have much use for something so weak but maybe that is down to it's trainer." A heavy stare lingering over Daniel, his choice of using tail whip to slowly lower the defence of Chikorita had given the silver eyed boy a bit of a big ego. Yet the battle wasn't over yet and there was no telling what Daniel had planned. Would he place his trust in his little water type to handle another attack from Chikorita, lash out with an attack of his own or heal his buddy up? Either way, this vile punk wasn't going to be walking away with his smug face held high, just yet.
Hearing the same words leave Daniel's mouth once again, the red head rolled his head, clearly becoming a bit fed up with this strategy. "Again? It isn't going to make any difference." Briefly shrugging his shoulders, he clicked his fingers together. "We'll stay on the offencive then. Chikorita, use tackle. Get this worthless weakling out of my sight already!" His booming voice sent a shudder across the body of the grass type and with a lift of it's front legs, charged towards the Squirtle for yet another tackle attack. Throwing itself into the body of the water type, Squirtle slid across the ground on his legs but managed to recover fairly quickly. Although feeling a bit weak, he shook his tail from side to side, lowering the guard of the Chikorita a little bit more.

Dan just ignored the red-headed brat. He wasn't worth his breath. Looking at his Squirtle he bit his lip as he tried to determine how he should handle the situation. He could heal up the mon or he could go for another tail whip. Worst comes to worst he had an ace up his sleeve. Looking from the grass type to the water he called out. "Alright, hang in there bud! Tail whip, one more time!"

The redhead just roooolled his eyes at another Tail Whip command. "I get it, you're insane. You don't seem to get that you're not going to win and keep trying the same thing over and over." He mocks Dan. After all, how was he to know that there was more than just Squirtle in the wings? "Use Tackle again!" By now, Chikorita was also starting to feed off of Silver's arrogance confidence and didn't even hesitate to follow the command. Its small, green body launched forward to slam into Squirtle yet again, more force than before too! Squirtle is sent toppling backwards from the force, temporarily knocked onto his back. He even stopped to his trainer a 'please?' look before rocking slowly and staggering back to its feet. Another display of the tail to further lower Chikorita's guard.

Dan winced at the hit as the redhead yammered. See the look Squirtle shot him he felt sympathy for him. He pulled out the Pokémon's ball and pressed the silver button on the front, calling Squirtle back to his ball. "Good job Squirtle, come on back." He smiled at the ball in his hand. "You did a good job bud, now take a rest for a bit." He put the ball on his belt and pulled out a ball containing another Pokémon. "Alright, Torchic I choose you!" He threw the ball in the air pressing the button, however instead of the chick Pokémon, a Mudkip appeared, ready for battle. "Mudkip, mudkip!" "Alright Torchic, Tackle!"

"Running away huh? Chikorita, use Tackle on the Torchic!" The redhead grinned, but little did he know, Dan has a strange way of naming Pokemon. Out from the Pokeball was instead a Mudkip. A Mudkip named Torchic. Silver gave himself a few minutes to let that sink in and laughed. "So you are insane..."Seizing the opportunity of the switch, the Chikorita dashed forward and slammed the "Torchic". The misnomer was hit, but the battle had just started for the newly arrived Pokemon so she felt that the tackle was alright for now. Retaliating, the young Mudkip rebounded forward and slammed onto the weakened Chikorita. The grass type slid backward, as the hit was powerful after being weakened. "Heh, Chikorita hit that Torchic again with another Tackle!" He ordered, seemingly not entertained by his opponent. The Chikorita followed again with another tackle, but the grass type felt that the opponent have more of an upper hand than itself. Oh, perhaps this battle will end soon?

Dan chuckled as the trainer in front of him called out his choice of names for the pokémon. In all fairness he knew it was a little strange, but that's what he liked about it. Torchic's hit on Chikorita seemed to do a good amount of damage and he cheered internally. He had hoped that that strategy would work and now that it had it just gave him more momentum to win this. "Alright Torchic! Try to finish this with a tackle!"
