Aria's barks didn't seem too effective in luring any souls towards them; rather it seemed to have the opposite effect of keeping the shadowy figures at bay. For what felt like an eternity, all that could be heard were distant rumbling and the steady drips of water leaping off stalactites. While Lenore sat brushing and nurturing her Pokemon, Noh's radiant body illuminated the tunnel surrounding them but also providing a protective glow like a nightlight to a toddler. However, the dancer hadn't noticed loose debris falling lightly on to them, undoing all of the careful grooming she had just completed. Larger pellets rattled down from the ceiling of the cave and a scraping sound announced that something was indeed shifting above them. With attentions drawn overhead, a yellow inverted pyramid suddenly burst from the cave ceiling and showered the party below with a barrage of rubble. The yellow object appeared to squirm and jiggle as though trying to escape and before long, a mass of writhing yellow bodies rained down on Lenore and her companions, hissing and squeaking at them. Half a dozen of these creatures lay thrashing on the ground before quickly dispersing, either disappearing behind rocks or burrowing their way into the ground. However, one of them had fallen into Lenore's lap. The blind creature looked up at her and beat its tiny white wings feebly. A wild Dunsparce (level 14) has dropped in on Lenore's party! The dancer chuckled quietly to herself. Aside from the cute little vees ruffed from the fluffball she finally had a bit of peace to sit and relax. Although the seat of a rock wasn't the best it gave her feet a rest. "Ugh, this is worse than being in the mall for hours... and it hasn't been near that long," she spoke to herself while sliding Tide's ball back into her long coat; of which was fanned behind her in a semi-circle so as to not get wrinkled. Noh's small squeak of concern sounded when Lenore's attention didn't immediately return to the promised grooming. "Just one second hun, I want to get these heels off for a moment."After a brief bit of wriggling her shoes were off and beside her bag, hands free save a soft brush to comb through the short pink fur of her jigglypuff. "Now we'll get you shining just like your light." The comment caused Red to sigh deeply and half roll her eyes. The lizard leaned back and watched Aria prancing about warding off all things that could potentially be a bother to their trainer. The poor eevee had no idea what she was actually doing for Lenore. Eventually the pup getting discouraged. She ceased barking at every shadow and instead waited until something a bit more promising. At which point she would excitedly pipe up, bounding forward and back so as to not get too far away from Lenore. But alas, still nothing would come to play with her. The little evolution pokémon turned her head round to pout at the showgirl, which received a sympathetic smile. "Aw, don't lose hope girl. Something's bound to show up soon."As she said this she noticed Aria's eyes turn upward. It was a little unsettling. Was there something above her? The thought of a bat tangled in her hair sent coarse shivers down her spine. "What is it hunny?" she spoke with a little waver in her voice before turning her own attention to the ceiling. But her gaze would never make it that height. A rain of big, bulging, yellow bodies cascaded down from the cave's canopy. With an ear shattering screech she threw Noh off her lap and made to protect herself. She slapped and kicked anything in range to get it away from her, stubbing a toe on one of them in the process. The hoard of wild pokémon quickly dispersed once on the ground but one final one had to say its part. As if with expert precision the dunsparce struck right across her lap, momentarily freezing all of the showgirl's motion. She stared at it, heart pounding in her chest, hands in the air as if the pokémon was made of slime, and a quiet whimpering groan rumbling from her throat. "Ew, get off!" she screamed. Her body hesitated to move, but her pokémon had no trouble acting. From her side a sudden flood of water came out of nowhere accompanied by a triumphant quack. Apparently in all the chaos Tide had gotten out.

As Lenore sat screaming with the bee snake hissing and squeaking in her lap, water began to bubble from out of fissures in the cave walls. A distant roar within the depths of the cave grew louder in volume before a torrent burst from the walls and ceiling like a dam wall disintegrating from a surge upstream. The tunnel was inundated and the Dunsparce tumbled out of the dancer's lap, its feeble body battered as it was dragged by the current across the jagged cave floor. Noh bobbed up and down riding the wave like an ocean buoy still illuminating the surroundings with her brilliant light. As soon as it had appeared, the water quickly drained out of the tunnel leaving wet muddy puddles in its wake. Water dripped incessantly from stalactites and the wild Pokemon floundered in a murky pool. The creature was thoroughly displeased by the unwelcome drenching and began shrieking in a ear-splitting high-pitched tone. Tide tried to cover her ears to dampen the blood-curdling cry but the cacophony reverberated around the cavern, amplifying it as though trapped in the perfect echo chamber. Tide's grating voice echoing off the bowels of Dark Cave was quickly, and literally, drowned out by the rush of her rescue. Lenore was swept off her rock alongside her shoes, blanket, and the thing that had fallen into her lap. The showgirl was left sputtering like a washed up magikarp; and nearly flailing just as bad. Her hair lay matted against her head her pin haphazardly clinging to the mop of which the blonde strands had become. Pulling apart the curtain of bangs she glared at the bright yellow duck, of who was oblivious to the ire which had turned onto her from both Lenore and Red. The charmeleon huffed loudly, sodden and steaming. Her tail was ablaze like never before. Aria looked not unlike her trainer but was far more amused by the little ride, splashing close to Noh enjoying the light suck of mud that had been formed due to Tide's grand entrance. The jigglypuff let out an annoyed puff and waved for the little fox to leave her alone. "Tide!" the woman raged, beating a fist into the mud and causing an unwanted splatter of mud to touch her cheek. A frustrated growl escaped her as she got to her knees. Her weight sunk into the slosh of newly formed puddles making a noise that sent a shiver down her spine before she even got to looking at her soaked and dirted clothing. The thin leggings couldn't prevent the touch of chilling wet earth that had gotten between her toes. "You just dug your grave you quack!" she roared, staring at her baby duck. The gaze she got in return was so blank the psyduck's face might as well have just been painted on. An unsettling screech followed the dancer's cry, drawing everyone's attention back toward the wild pokémon still in their midst. Tide drew her hands to her ears as an uncertainty coursed through her body. She took another look to Lenore then back to the wriggling dunsparce as it finished its terrible wail. She nodded, looking to the floor and digging her little webbed hands into the softened ground. Faster and faster she went. It took Lenore a moment to realize what the duck was doing. "Wh-No! Uuuggghh." She stood, wincing at the pokes of rock and gooey consistency writhing under her nearly bare feet. "Whatever," Lenore mumbled. Her attention turning to finding her shoes instead of watching the train wreck that was her psyduck.

Mud flung through the air as the psyduck dug its way into the ground. The tiny dunsparce wiggled in distress as it became covered by rogue plops of mud, the poor blind little bug was certain that this was the cave ceiling coming down upon it. The rest of Lenore's pokemon did their best to avoid the splatter, but it did not take long for the trainer's grooming work to be completely ruined. The whole team was going to need a thorough bath after this. When the mud flinging ceased, Tide was nowhere to be seen. The dunsparce let out a big yawn, it thought perhaps the excitement was over... perhaps it would take a nap now? The dunsparce curled up where it was, happy to have survived the cave-in. But before it could doze off-- POP!-- Tide launched itself out of the ground right beneath the dunsparce. The tiny winged bug pokemon fell on its back. It writhed in a panic! The cave-in was over but now there was an earthquake!! The dunsparce curled up into a ball and began to aimlessly roll back and forth in the cave, trying to desperately find an exit out of the cave. Several times, it bumped into Tide who seemed to be trying its best to waddle out of the rolling bug's way only to trip over its own feet in the uneven muddy ground it had created it. Tide grunted, face in the mud from being rolled over after an embarrassing trip. At least Lenore hadn't seen. She was too busy squinting in the faint light for a shine that would be her shoes. One was already in her hands, lightly spotted with mud like the rest of the area. Noh and Red were busy fussing over the tidal wave from moments earlier, but the spunky little eevee was unbothered by it all. She was barking her support, fur dripping wet even after the long shake she'd done to try and dry herself off. The psyduck pushed herself all the way back up and shook the pile of earth clinging to her bill off. Dunsparce had seemed to go into a panicked frenzy. Curled up into a ball and randomly rolling about. Aria's noise seemed to keep it from straying into Lenore's midst, which was good, but the inattention left Tide at a loss of what to do as well. The duck tried to think, it's mind coming up completely blank. Staring dumbly at a collection of stalagmites while the yellow ball continued its bowling. Eventually it turned back to her. She quacked her discomfort. Intensifying as Dunsparce got closer. But Lenore just continued her angry muttering on the sidelines. So she had no choice. Tide just repeated her last action. With no new orders given it seemed her best option, as well as the one that would get her out of Dunsparce's path.

Dunsparce couldn't see but it could hear and feel the vibrations. Having been hit once by the tunneling duck it had NO desire to experience that again. Giving up on rolling around to find an escape Dunsparce braced itself and prepared to attack when it felt the enemy pokemon getting closer. Sadly it couldn't attack till Tide showed her face.
Moments later the duck surfaced again, hurting the wild pokemon as she broke out of the ground. Only this time Dunsparce was ready and delivered a Pursuit attack to try and drive the odd duck away. It was not as successful as could be hoped though and afterwards left both pokemon battered but still ready to fight.

Lenore continued muttering off to the side as she searched, completely ignoring her psyduck's valiant efforts against the dunsparce that had caused her distress moments before. Something the woman would have appreciated had she not been completely drenched head to toe and poking through the muck to find her other shoe. She was fuming mad. Moreso than the charmeleon that approached her. The fire types tail was burning brightly, crackling like a bonfire through the echoing cave; though the light was a candle in comparison to Noh's flash. Red grunted for her trainer's attention. The woman was almost going to ignore her too but with a loud sigh decided not to turn her anger onto the impish lizard; no doubt she would end up regretting it later if she did. In Red's claws was her metal heel. Another sigh passed her lips but in relief instead of frustration. "You are a life saver girl," she spoke, reaching out to snatch the footwear from her pokémon. "Now to find my bag." It was less a comment and more a command. Red huffed, brow furrowing as he jaw skewed to the side. "You're not the only one!" Lenore replied, exasperated. Her hands went into the air, one hand with fingers hooked on the loop of her heels. It was all a mess. Noh was pouting on the floor casting death glares at everything that moved, Red was pissed from being doused, her derp duck was fighting off the most disgusting thing she'd ever laid eyes on, and she herself was wet and muddy. Toes thoroughly mixed with an earthy paste and coat hanging heavy with moisture. Her hair was coming undone and she was beginning to get cold as the isolated darkness of the cave began settling in. The only one of the group that was unbothered was Aria, still eagerly awaiting a turn to combat a wild pokémon. The dancer took a deep breath, putting a hand to her temple as she took a moment to close her eyes. All the noise was starting to give her a headache. "Tide!" she bellowed, pausing before continuing to address the little one. "Hurry up and weaken that thing so Aria can scratch that itch of hers. A couple confusions should do it. But don't knock it out... got it?" Her words were forceful. Tide felt shivers go down her spine and a bit of happiness drain out of her. Had she done something wrong? No, it must be the peppy eevee being too rambunctious. That was what this was about. Giving Aria what she wanted so she would stop being a bother. Sure of her deduction, Tide's mood brightened for a happy quack in reply to her trainer's orders. She'd try her best not to go overboard on the dunsparce, but brimming with energy from being acknowledged by Lenore would make that impossible to guarantee.

Tide went to work as she placed her hands near her head and shut her eyes while the Dunsparce looked on to see what the yellow duck was doing. The wild Dunsparce realized that the Psyduck's psychic energy was making him feel a headache coming on as it groaned in pain from the sudden headache. The assault on the wild Pokemon's mind didn't stop there as another onset of a headache hit it and it proceeded to flail around, unable to have any sort of hands to calm its migraine. Once the headches subsided, the wild Dunsparce toppled over as it lied still. Tide realized that the wild Dunsparce was defeated and became pretty proud of herself as she returned back to her trainer's side. Tide grew to level 18! Her face was in her hands. Those delicate fingers the only thing keeping her rage from spilling out and echoing through all the chambers of the dark cave. Tide padded over cheery as could be, throwing a spurt of water into the air. She didn't say a word. Didn't even look at the little duck. Lenore just whipped out the pokéball and returned Tide to the inner loop of her jacket. The woman groaned. "One thing. Just asked for one thing," she muttered, taking a few more breaths. Aria now added her pouting to Noh's, head turned and those big bright eyes staring up at the dancer expectantly. "You're just going to have to find something else to tackle, alright?" she spat, annoyed at how sideways this trip had gone. She dropped her gaze to the unconscious yellow... thing. "This was all going fine until you showed up. If this wasn't such a mess..." she seethed, taking a few steps closer and resisting the urge to kick the dunsparce as far as she could. But without her shoes on she knew that bulbous mass would probably just end up hurting her ankle in the process. She spun, an agitated grumble rippling through the area. "And that's enough out of you, both of you!" Her annoyance turning to her pair of brooding pokémon. Noh and Aria quieted. The eevee's ears went down and she curled up into a ball of fluff. Noh was startled for a second before a determination crossed her face. The light went out. Lenore blinked. Besides the glow of Red's tail the group was now sitting in absolute darkness. The faint sound of the charmeleon snickering reached her ears. The showgirl sighed, bringing her hands together at her chin to calm herself for a moment. "Oh honey," she began, taking another breath before continuing. "I'm sorry. Okay? I'm just wet, cold, and recovering from the shock of that ugly beast." She paused, waiting for any sort of response from her upset jigglypuff. There was no answer. "Look, just turn the lights back on and we'll just get out of here. I need some R&R and so do you. I'll splurge on a spa for us. Sound good?" It wasn't immediate, but soon flash came back to illuminate the area. All were still as they were before the blackout except Noh who had moved to stand at Lenore's feet. The woman bent down and pet the sodden jigglypuff. Red came over with her bag and dropped it down beside her with a splash. Mostly likely an intentional placement on the charmeleon's part. She dug through it for a rag, wiped down the sole of her shoes and tried to pad dry her feet before slipping them on. Throwing the dirty thing into a side compartment she slung the bag over her shoulder then picked up Noh into her arms. "Let's go," she ordered. Aria didn't waste any time unraveling herself from her balled up state to pad just behind the dancer. Red followed at her own pace.

Lenore's string of uncommon Pokemon encounters in the dark cave was not over yet as a Mawile stepped out in front of her just a few moments after leaving the site of her previous battle. The strange looking creature was not known for it's beauty or kind temperament however it was known for the large mouth sticking out the back of its head and for being one of the oddest looking Fairy type Pokemon. This particular Mawile was rather young but the appearance of Lenore and her Pokemon was quite welcomed as it would give it a chance to grow stronger in battle. Being outnumbered did not bother it at all as it felt it could overcome her Pokemon with its odd fighting style and rare type combination. It did not account for its low speed however and due to that Lenore would be able to slip past it if she would rather avoid the fight altogether or she could use that advantage to likely strike first if she did decide to battle. In either case Mawile could only stand and watch wondering if its seemingly good luck would go up in smoke or turn into a goldmine to allow it the chance to grow stronger. A wild Mawile (Level 8) appeared, would you like to battle or run?

The sudden appearance of Mawile before her made her squeeze the jigglypuff in her arms. Noh let out a surprised squeak of discomfort in response and Lenore had to remember she wasn't holding a pillow but a breathing creature. There was no apology given, but the dancer relaxed her arms all the same. Her visage lightened at the sight of the wild one, smile creeping along her face. "Finally! This is what I came into this stupid place for to begin with," she paused a second to let out a relieved sigh. "Well, you and a zubat," added the showgirl. Things were looking up again. She was afraid she would have gone through all of this and not end up coming out with everything she'd set to find. Lenore looked the mawile up and down. Her gaze lingered on the fairy's own soulful eyes. This was a determined one, she could tell. Something that would work hard to get stronger. Good. She smirked back at the mawile, "Challenge accepted little one. After this, you'll be mine." A giddiness started rising in her chest at the prospect. "Aria, you're up girl!" The eevee's demeanor did a full 180. From mopey to excited pup in an instant she bound forward, tail swishing back and forth in the air as she faced off against the cave pokémon. "It's just going to be a quick part though alright? This one will be too hard for you to tackle down with its steel skin. But you'll be vital in making sure we can catch it." As Lenore finished the fluffy fox turned her head back with a disappointed look. "I can't do this without you babe! Just trust me, okay?" That seemed to do the trick. The little bit of importance soothed the eevee's desire to be a major component in a victory for her new trainer. "Time to throw some sand around honey." Lenore then went to stroking Noh's head so she didn't get jealous of the attention Aria was receiving.

The mawile's eyes widened when it heard it was the reason she had come to the cave, then it raised its chin proudly. She might want it but that didn't mean it was going to want her! It huffed at the mention of zubat, those existed in plenty so that couldn't have been hard to succeed and mawile had grown tired of their screeching a long time ago. It's back-jaw growled in answer to Lenore's acceptance of the challenge and the mawile studied the human and her pokemon over its shoulder as it tried to make an oppinion of them. It was young but it had some great mentors here in the cave, now it was time to put it into use and see what it was made of. It would be exciting to face something else than zubats for once. The mawile narrowed its eyes as Lenore carelessly revealed the eevee's weak point in this battle, that was an information it could make use of. It covered its face as Aria filled the air with sand and although it got plenty in eyes and mouth, it was smirking as it cleared its mouth. "Oh babe," the mawile said mockingly, wiped its eye as it looked at the eevee. "Is that all you can do?" It asked with a chuckle, "how sad that your trainer think you are so weak that you stand no chance against me. Why don't you prove her otherwise? Wouldn't it be nice to have her trust you? If you want to be allowed to do anything else than throwing sand ever, then you will need to prove that she can trust you. You must show her that you can do so much else! Don't you think?" Mawile egged while its back-jaw was crunching on the sand there. As the taunting took affect Mawile looked at Lenore with a smirk, hopefully it had thrown a big spanner in her works and making this a real challenge. The mawile was doing an awful lot of chattering, and the eevee a scary amount of listening. It made the dancer uncomfortable, as with each passing moment Aria seemed to go deeper and deeper into thought. Lenore tried to look into Mawile's eyes and deduce what it was trying to do. So far it had seemed very confident, if not pompous. As the trainer tried to sleuth things out the wild pokémon looked her right back with the smuggiest smirk she had ever seen. It took her aback. A chill crawling down her spine. "Oh ho," she half mumbled, another chilling sensation passing through her fingers up her arms and a flutter rose in her chest. It was so cold. Sitting on a pedestal of greatness and no one could tell it otherwise. "I like this one." It was a statement just spoken idly aloud, not particularly meant for any to hear but she didn't care if others took note. She shrugged her shoulders, the furs softly whisking her ears and cheek as she did so. "Aria," she called expectantly, figuring she didn't need to say anything more for the fox to know what she wanted. But the evolution pokémon didn't come. Her long ears twitched back, head half turning but for a second, but otherwise she didn't react. Mawile's words were echoing through her head, filling her with a desire to prove herself despite Lenore's wishes. The showgirl repeated the eevee's name more forcefully. Her hands had ceased petting Noh and moved to grab a ball from her coat. But again, Aria didn't pull back. Instead she bowed down for a moment, tail swishing in the air as she prepared, then started a run toward the steel fairy. The jigglypuff felt a tensing in the embrace that held her, humming her displeasure at the tightening. Lenore ignored it and took a deep breath.

Aria had fallen for the Taunt and was beyond the point of listening to her trainer. The little fox pokemon charged straight for its opponent and threw a shoulder tackle with all the force she could muster. Only it wasn't enough. Their respective types played against her and while it hit her tackle did very little damage. The Mawile smirked because its plan had worked. The Eevee had charged close enough that it could score a hit even with the reduction to its accuracy. Once Aria was close enough it delivered a brutal Iron Head attack that badly staggered the poor fox. And at that point it spared a glance towards the trainer....just to smirk a little more.
