Hunting in the dark(F)

Seeing the Bronzor approaching Tyler already knew it was not the Pokemon he was after as he had already dealt with one earlier but they still were useful for training if nothing else like the others. " As usual it looks like our luck is as rotten as ever but I will not waste the opportunity to train one of you by bringing that pest down as annoying as it is to still be on the hunt for the Pokemon we are after. Bronzor have decent defenses though so to get through it in one hit I am going to have you fight it birdbrain." He said as the bird leaped into action drawing the steel type away from Tyler.

She studied the steel type for a few moments as Tyler thought about which move he should have her use but regardless of what he decided on he wanted to be sure the move he used would not miss or not knock it out leaving him with only two real options. Senorita Ramirez may have learned a new move but because she was not holding any item she could easily handle the Bronzor with her trusty Acrobatics move instead to save some time so that Tyler could keep searching for the elusive Pokemon. Senorita Ramirez stepped forward ready to strike the moment her opponent showed off any weakness and the closer it got the more obvious its eyes were to be a major weak spot.

The bird got ready to attack as Tyler gave her his orders hoping for the match to be over quickly. " Wait until that pest is right in front of you and then grab it by the eyes flinging it with your Acrobatics, that should be able to bring it down even if it resists you attack." Senorita Ramirez was not proud of using such a sneaky plan but she decided she was going to go through with it for her own well being like usual. Bronzor was a few seconds away as she prepared her talons to toss the steel type with all of her might while hoping it would not somehow endure the hit even with the huge level gap. She knew that if Bronzor did not go down for good Tyler would have her hide and she certainly did not want that. She then leaped into action right before the Bronzor could score a hit praying that lucky would still be on her side for now.

The Steel-typed Bronzor's attempt at a preemptive strike upon the Hawlucha would appear to be in vain, however. As the Bronzor got closer, it would just appear to give Senorita Ramirez more time to prepare for an attack upon the wild Pokemon. By the time the bronze Pokemon could tell it had made a huge mistake charging towards the Hawlucha, it was too late. The Bronzor was clearly a bit in over its own head thinking it would actually be capable of dealing any damage to Tyler's much powerful Pokemon, even if its whole steal body was basically just a steel circle with a face thrown onto it.

When the Bronzor got close enough to Tyler and his Pokemon, the battle was over before it could even land its own strike. With one Acrobatics attack from the Hawlucha, it dealt a huge amount of damage to the wild Pokemon, sending it flying into the ground with nothing left to give in the fight. With a loud clang sound, the Steel-type Pokemon slid and scraped on the ground until it hit the walls of the cave with another loud sound.

With nothing left, the Bronzor laid there fainted, defeated in a quick battle with the Hawlucha, if you would even call it a battle. The wild Pokemon had been defeated all too quickly by Tyler's powerful Pokemon. It would appear as it was just another unfortunate Pokemon in the Dark Cave that didn't happen to be on Tyer's wishlist.

After dealing with yet another Bronzor Tyler could hardly keep his cool any longer as his luck was absolutely horrible so far.  Had it not been for the number of Pokemon he could still train safety without going over the next gym level cap he would have stormed out of the cave with rage. " I just cannot catch a break today, we still have not even caught a glimpse of the Pokemon we are after and it sickens me. For the sake of the Pokemon in this cave they had better hope it shows up soon before I burn this whole place to the ground in a merciless inferno." He said as Flint grew excited at the idea of burning anything.

Blitz was just glad it had not been called to battle yet and neither had Volcano but they both dreaded the idea of suddenly being picked at any time. Senorita Ramirez had already done more than her fair share and was beyond desperate for a break. She was praying that whatever showed up next was something one of the others could handle so she could rest for a while. As they waited for another encounter Senorita Ramirez rubbed both of her wings being very sore from doing all the heavy work recently and with Tyler showing no pity at all she had no idea if fate would finally grant her a rest as they heard another noise coming from a short distance away as Blitz started to look for the source.

" I highly doubt our luck is going to change here but we have to find out what made that noise, we will not let that elusive Pokemon get away so long as I have a say in the matter. We have put forward way too much time and effort to just give up despite our luck being so bad but it just has to turn around at some point. Blitz and Volcano be ready as Senorita Ramirez has done quite a bit of work and you both need to catch up with her. If this next try turns out to be anything but the Pokemon we are after I am going to make one of you handle it so you can start closing the gap." After he warned his Pokemon to be ready Tyler stood in the dark cavern and looked around in the dim light hoping that his terrible luck would finally turn around so they could make some real progress after wasting so much time.

Tyler and his Pokemon were strong enough to strike fear into most of the Pokemon that hid in the Dark Cave, watching the trainer and his Pokemon as they defeated one Pokemon after another over and over again consistently. All It took was a noise and then Tyler would have his Pokemon obliterate you, as one of the Pokemon that had been listening from afar found out. The Pokemon flew around, still trying to keep its distance, as to not be seen by the trainer or perhaps his Pokemon. Tyler and his Pokemon struck fear into the Pokemon as it had flew around. It was trying to be sure that it could not be seen.

The flying Pokemon could remain in hiding, flying around afar, for no more as it seemed. The Pokemon, seemingly paying attention to Tyler's voice as he talked, ran into one of the stalactites hanging from the top of the cave like an icicle. The Pokemon let out a loud screeching noise as it ran into the stalactite hanging from the roof of the cave, as the Pokemon flew down onto the ground for a moment. It had just made a huge mistake, it knew.

As the Zubat landed on the ground, it could tell Tyler was near, even though the Pokemon had no eyes to see. It let out another screech in Tyler's direction as it prepared for what was to come from the mistake it had made.

Seeing the Zubat landed on the ground Tyler did not even have to think about which Pokemon he would use as Blitz was the perfect Pokemon to use against the flying rodent. Being weak to electric type attacks was just the start however as it was a decently high level as well meaning the young Magnemite could gain quite a bit of experience if it managed to defeat the Zubat. Though Tyler had little doubt in his mind that Blitz could handle it he was in no mood to put up with any mistakes and he made it abundantly clear to the magnet Pokemon before sending it out to fight.

" Blitz listen here you bucket of bolts, I want you to fry that bat to a crisp so we can see its remains as a tasty meal. Thundershock might be your only electric type attack that can do damage but for your sake you had better hope it is enough to deal with this bat. Once we get back to Goldenrod I need to get that Thunderbolt TM so you will be a bit more useful. Once you deal with this pest we need to keep looking for that elusive Pokemon that about now is pushing its luck if it expects any mercy from me once luck finally gets on our side." He said as Blitz got into position and started to twirl its magnets to increase its power.

The young magnet Pokemon had not battled for a while but as it reached the maximum power it could currently store it took aim at the Zubat hoping the bat would not dodge it as Tyler would likely have it scrapped for parts if it failed him. With its aim ready it waited for Tyler to give the final order who looked over at Blitz with a very stern look on his face. He pointed at the bat and then uttered his command. " Blitz fire on that Zubat right now and stop wasting my time. Having terrible luck in our encounters is bad enough but you just floating there like a brain dead Slowpoke is not helping matters at all." Realizing that Tyler had absolutely no remaining patience at all Blitz fired his attack and watched as it approached the Zubat.

Tyler looked on as well ready to have Flint melt Blitz down in the fraction of a second if the magnet had miscalculated its attack in even the slightest as he was at the end of his rope with his current luck.

Wasting no more of Tyler's time the thunder shock was released. A decently sized ball of static electricity buzzing its way from the tips of the steel type's magnets and homing in on the short fur of the cave dweller. Zubat had no visual receptors to witness the formation of such an attack, but it was very easy to tell the energy was coming by the fact that all of the bat's hair stood on end. Unfortunately for it, by the time it could feel the static charge it was far too late. What was worse, the flier acted purely on instinct at the last moment and left the rocky floor for the air in a desperate attempt to dodge.

Now having no grounding to help stem the flow of the electric energy, Blitz's attack did its utmost worse to the poor little zubat. It screeched like it had never screeched before, the harrowing noise echoing down the cave halls in a chorus of pain. No doubt to some satisfaction of the rocket as it clearly noted Tyler's pokemon's superiority to the wild beast.

With a smoke and sizzle the blackened zubat fell to the ground with what little momentum it had taking off. It fell behind a bundle of rocks, just out of Tyler's way so it wouldn't be a bother any longer.

Blitz had done its job quite well as it knocked out the Zubat in one hit, it had not been a marvelous display of power at all given the weak power of Thundershock but it had been enough to put the pesk bat in its place and bring him one step closer to the Pokemon he really wanted. " Good job Blitz you are not totally useless. Once you get better moves I might just be able to make you useful afterall. With that Zubat gone we can keep looking for that pain in the butt Pokemon that still keeps finding ways to remain hidden. The rumors of it being quite rare do appear to be correct."

Tyler grunted as he finished his speech wondering where in the world he could search next as everything he kept trying did not help at all even as the sounds of Pokemon cries echoed throughout the cave. Despite the lack of natural light there were no shortage of Pokemon to be found besides the one species he was after. " So long as we keep searching and encountering weaklings like that Zubat I suppose it is at least not the worst situation ever but this is getting nuts. Our luck has been pitiful." He said as Blitz shined its Flash around hoping to spot something to give Tyler hope. As it scanned the room a number of strange shaows appeared on a nearby wall and Tyler knew he was about to get into another battle.

" I doubt our luck will change but everyone standby and wait to see what this is before you attack. With all the effort we have put into this search I will skin you alive if you knock out the Pokemon we are after because of a lack of patience." He said as all of his Pokemon were ready to attack. If the Pokemon he was after was near the levels of the other Pokemon he had encountered so far he would have to be very careful not to knock it out. He wished he would have put a lower leveled Pokemon on his team but by standing by he at least minimized the risk of an awful situation.

As a few moments passed the shadows started to get closer and cries from a number of Pokemon grew very close as Tyler struggled not to order an attack. The sounds were so annoying that it took quite an effort not to strike first as he could hardly stand the growing noise echoing off the caves wall.

As Tyler and his Pokemon held stand-by and waited for a Pokemon to come closer, it was none other than a two-legged creature that came forward first. That was all that could be seen as a large shadow came into view in the light, slowly becoming smaller as more features of the oncoming Pokemon became more visible in the shadow. The Pokemon could be seen as it walked forward, not making too much of a noise as it approached the light released from Tyler's Pokemon. 

The Pokemon was purple-colored, with a red gem on its chest and blue gems for eyes. The light released from Tyler's Pokemon reflected from the gems and illuminated more of the cave. The Sableye didn't even seem to mind the other Pokemon or Tyler himself, or even Tyler's words. It just seemed entirely focused on the light it saw. It was very different from the darkness the Pokemon was used to. More cries could be heard from around the cave still, however, as the Ghost-type continued to approach steadily.

The strange looking specter in front of him certainly had taken a long time to find and he figured it had to be at least one of the rare species of the Dark Cave. Given the amount of time it had taken to encounter it Tyler was fully invested in capturing it but at the same time Sableye were known as sneaky Pokemon and trying to capture it at full health might be a challenge. He did have a single Quick Ball he could try but after that he knew if it failed he would have to somehow weaken the ghost if he were to have any chance of capturing it.

He grabbed the Quick Ball from his backpack and aimed at the ghost hoping for good luck. As he tossed the Quick Ball at the ghost Pokemon he grabbed Volcano's Pokeball and called the young fire type out just in case things did not go well. It was the only Pokemon he had that had a decent chance of doing damage without knocking out the elusive Pokemon and so he figured it would be the best Pokemon to send out to try and weaken Sableye should his first attempt fail. As soon as the fire type appeared out of his ball Tyler made things very clear that he did not want Sableye knocked out.

" We finally encountered one of the rare Pokemon in the Dark Cave so do not screw this up. If my Quick Ball fails to capture Sableye you will have to take a hit for the team before you will be able to weaken it so we can try again. If that does happen you had better not knock it out for your sake after we took so long to find this thing." Volcano then stood by waiting for the results of the capture attempt praying he would not need to fight but if he did at least he was several levels higher than the ghost so he should be able to hold on a little while if they got unlucky. 

Blitz shined its light towards the capture attempt in an effort to give Tyler as much warning as it could so that if Sableye broke out of the ball it would at least not be able to run off into the darkness if nothing else. Even it secretly hoped this Quick Ball would work so they could finally leave the cave and head to a less poorly lit area.

Sableye, like most ghost-types, thrived in creepy locations. The Pokémon could easily slink in and out of the shadows if Tyler wasn't careful. Fortunately, Blitz was around to illuminate the cave, just enough to keep track of it. Volcano emerged from his Poké Ball as a sturdy backup if the first plan failed. Sableye sized up its opponent, quickly realising that the Quilava was more experienced.

But before the two Pokémon could engage in a proper battle, Tyler had hurled a blue and yellow ball Sableye. The Pokémon's gemlike eyes sparkled as the capsule opened, engulfing it with a bright light. The Quick Ball then dropped to the ground and began to rock back and forth, attempting to contain the wild Pokémon inside it.

Though Tyler was prepared in the event Sableye managed to escape from his Quick Ball his luck turned from awful to amazing as his blitz throwing tactic worked like a charm. As the ghost was trapped inside the ball Tyler began to chuckle as he was overcome with joy to capture one of the rare Pokemon in the Dark Cave. " This little bugger evaded us for far too long but in the end I got the last laugh. Just like a gremlin it seemed to throw a wrech at everything I tried but now we have a very valuable Pokemon in our possession." As he thought things over he felt gremlin would actually be quite the fitting name for the little critter.

" Gremlin should be able to breed quite a few valuable eggs for us to sell instead of selling her as she was way to much trouble to sell outright. I am sure we can even impress the higher ups in Team Rocket when I show her off as not many would have the patience to hunt a Sableye down for this long." After the ball was transferred to his PC Tyler began to wonder if he should leave the Dark Cave or stay as there were still a number of Pokemon he had not captured and he was sure at least one more rare species lived there making it a tough choice. In the end though he still needed to train more and he really wanted to capture every rare Pokemon he could.

" I would love to hit the road as this place is really annoying me now but I cannot risk allowing a single rare Pokemon to evade my grasp, until I am absolutely sure all the rare Pokemon here are owned by me I am now leaving. Blitz keep an eye out for any strange Pokemon that we have not captured yet. We might be able to make this great haul even better if luck stays on our side." He said as Blitz scanned the cave hoping to spot anything that might be a species they had not seen yet as Volcano stood ready for battle as well. Tyler had no idea what any of the other rare Pokemon might look like but that was not going to stop him now after getting so lucky after countless encounters.

" Wherever you are I will find you, your friend could not escape me and you shall not get away from me either." He said hoping to draw out another Pokemon that might have known Gremlin.

Tyler had been quite lucky to encounter a Sableye. Although many resided in Dark Cave, they were quite difficult to come by as they were usually wary of humans. The hunt for rare Pokémon was a tedious process as the commonly seen ones were always looking for a battle. Unfortunately, this was one of those times. For the third time since he entered the cave, Tyler came across a Bronzor.

This one in particular was at a higher level than its peers which it was proud of. Drawn toward the Flash emitted by Blitz, the psychic/steel-type revealed itself. It hovered around Tyler and his Pokémon, obstructing their path. Maybe it could persuade them to battle it. Bronzong was determined to be the strongest of its species in the cave and the only way it could ensure that was if it challenged every trainer it met.

Now that Tyler had acquired one of the rare Pokemon in the Dark Cave he was not quite as angry about encountering one of the more common ones now. In fact as it would help him complete the Pokedex he was glad to see a Bronzor come out as they were not very common in Johto and by capturing one now he could save himself the trouble of coming back for one later. It might not fetch as high a price as Sableye eggs would but he was sure he could still make a profit if he bred it down the line as it would save others the trouble of exploring the cave for themselves. 

Since he had no doubt in capturing the steel type he just needed to think about which of his Pokemon to use and which ball to use and it did not take him long at all to decide on both given the location and Blitz not having a battle for a while. " Blitz you get out there and act as bait this time I have a plan that only a steel type like you can pull off." The magnet Pokemon floated over to Bronzor and looked it right in the eye, as it did so Tyler grabbed a Dusk Ball while Bronzor was still fixated on Blitz waiting for the best moment to try his luck.

Blitz was not very worried even being so close to Bronzor as it was not a particularly aggressive species and being the same type likely put its mind at ease. Blitz still did not know of Tyler's full plan until Tyler finally let the cat out of thr bag. " Blitz I am going to capture that Bronzor so keep it distracted for a few more seconds, we are in a cave so this Dusk Ball should work a lot better if they did not program it wrong." A few seconds later Tyler saw the perfect opening as Bronzor moved over just enough to get a peek at him. Usually it would not have been a big mistake but in this case Tyler was glad to see it make even a small error like that.

" Now is our chance as Bronzor will not make the same mistake again. Go Dusk Ball, capture that Bronzor." He said as the ball flew towards the steel type at a high speed. Tyler just hoped the rare ball would nor let him down

The wild Bronzor was so fixated on the bright light coming from it's fellow Steel type, that it didn't even notice when Tyler pulled out a Dusk Ball. Despite it's higher level, this Bronzor found itself more drawn to the light then even a Venomoth would've been. The Psychic/Steel type didn't know it at that moment, but this would lead to the end of it's life as a wild Pokémon in another minute or so, as Tyler took aim and threw the ball directly at it. In a flash, though not the same as Blitz's Flash, the Dusk Ball made contact with Bronzor's back, and the bronze Pokémon got swallowed up inside of it. After the sphere fell to the ground, Bronzor began a tough fight from the inside, but this proved futile. Being inside the Dark Cave, the power of the Dusk Ball was simply too much for Bronzor to overcome. The ball's shaking soon came to an end, and a small "DING" echoed through the cave for a moment.

Tyler smirked as soon as the Dusk Ball shut on the Bronzor allowing him to cross one more Pokemon off of his capture list. Though he was far from finished with the Pokedex he was still glad whenever a capture brought him closer and it helped Blitz grow a bit stronger as well. If the magnet Pokemon could keep winning battles that quickly it would evolve very soon solving another of Tyler's problems. " Good that is one less Pokemon we need to capture. Bronzor are not very powerful but they have very good defenses that could prove useful and to make things better this one has Levitate as its ability so it will be immune to ground type moves in most cases."

Even as he celebrated the successful capture Tyler really did not want to stick around much longer as it was clear his luck was not going to change much. As the cave had proven a gold mine for training however he forced himself to give up his pursuit if the next encounter was not the Pokemon he was after. " I know I could find the other Pokemon I am after if we keep looking but there are other areas I want to explore and missions to complete so this will be our last try before we head out. I bet new Pokemon have moved into areas we have trained in before so I want to get out of here soon. I just hope that we get as good a haul as this cave had brought us." He said as he started to look around one last time.

Blitz continued to shine its light around hoping for a glimpse of whatever other Pokemon chose to come out as the magnet wanted a chance to show off its additional strength after the last battle, having gained a level last time it was very close to evolving as Tyler had predicted and it knew it could impress him as soon as it finally evolved. The erratic movements it made were a clear indicator to Tyler that it wanted to battle again and he figured so long as it was something that was not immune to electric type attacks he would give the magnet another chance. " Blitz I can tell you want to battle again, so long as we do not encounter anything that is not immune to electric type attacks I welcome you to try. The sooner we can get you to evolve the better.
