The architecture of the gym may have fascinated many trainers coming in for their battles, but Ashton barely spared it a glance as he passed through the doors, still glancing at his phone. Nolan had sent him some details on the gym, and for some reason had also included enough information to write a biography on Bugsy himself. What did it matter if he knew what kind of food the leader liked? Or what his favourite season was? It told him nothing about how he battled! All Ashton really knew was the leader's preferred type of Pokemon, something that had left him confident of his own team. The day had grown long, with the sun inching towards evening, and Ashton could only hope Bugsy was still entertaining challengers. It would sting to have gotten all pumped up to face the leader and be told to come back tomorrow, taking all the wind out of his sails. No, he wanted to battle Bugsy today, while he still had enough confidence. Losing his nerve by letting doubts creep into his mind whilst trying to grab some sleep was something he had no patience to deal with. His Pokemon certainly wouldn't thank him for being a nervous wreck; questioning himself would only confuse them and lead to their likely fainting. Pausing as he neared the center of the gym, Ashton looked at his phone one more time before turning it off entirely and burying it deep into his bag. Best to avoid the temptation of hiding behind it, or to avoid the leader thinking he wasn't completely into their battle. "Hello? Bugsy? Ashton Reid here, to challenge you for your badge!" the model called out, voice echoing faintly in the vast room. Now that his phone was out of sight, Ashton took a moment to really take in the gym itself, not quite liking the overall theme but giving this Bugsy kudos for how obviously passionate he was towards Bug-types. Takeshi would probably feel quite at home here, if the Scyther cared for this aesthetic, something Ashton doubted. As long as the Scyther got his chance for a thrilling fight, that was all that mattered. It was tempting to bring one of his Pokemon out for company whilst waiting for the gym leader to show himself, though Ashton didn't want to tip his hand to Bugsy on what he was going to use. Most of his team outside of Iki were more than able to handle themselves here, barring any unfortunate incidences. Ashton shifted on one foot rather impatiently, tugging at his sleeves in an uncharacteristically antsy gesture, betraying the slight nerves he'd tried to stifle. No matter how he tried to downplay it, this was an important fight, and only telling himself that jitters were something a lot of trainers experienced when challenging gyms was enough to keep the worst of his nervousness at bay. It had been a long time since Bugsy had a challenger in his gym and he was thrilled as he heard Ashton call out to him. He stepped out from the darkest corner of the gym where he had been repairing some spider webs and approached Ashton with a smile on his face. " Hello Ashton it is nice to meet you, You already know my name but for formalities sake I am Bugsy the Bug type gym leader of Azalea Town. It has been a while since my last challenger but I am always ready for a new challenge." As he looked over at the young man eager to have a good battle he tried to think about what Pokemon he might try to use fully expecting a fire of flying type Pokemon as they were a popular choice to use against him. Even so they made for a nice challenge to try and overcome. " It does seem like you would like to get things started and as much as I like to chatter I do respect not everyone is a chatterbox. To start things off I will use my Metapod first." He then tossed a Pokeball in front of him revealing the bug type Pokemon that stood nearly perfectly still as it looked over at Ashton. The blank stare on its face made it rather clear that it had been though quite a bit and did not fear whatever he chose to use against it. Bugsy still not sure what Ashton was going to use had to keep a bit of worry in his mind not wanting to make a mistake too early on. He did not want to give away his trump card too early and he did not think Ashton would expect anything by sending out a safe choice like Metapod first. " Now that I have made my choice I am quite excited to see which Pokemon you will pick first. You seem like a step up from some of the other trainers I have encountered before so I expect you might just surprise me." He said as he waited for Ashton to pick a Pokemon. Bugsy accepts you challenge. He sends out Metapod (Level 18)

The relief that crashed through him as the gym leader answered his call was indescribable, Ashton relaxing enough to give the young... man(?) his patented charming smile. Only the name and leader's clothing spoke to his Bug affinity, Ashton's imagination having sparked an image of someone who was covered in spider silk or swarmed by an inordinate amount of Combees, like he'd once seen at a traveling show back in Unova. At least Bugsy didn't have honey walls in his gym, as Burgh did. Getting honey out of his hair and clothing would be an utter nightmare, Ashton thought while Bugsy formally introduced himself. Bugsy's comment about not everyone being the most talkative allowed the model to relax a little further, glad not to have to waste much time on niceties. "Sometimes it's easier to allow one's battling to speak for them, right?" Ashton replied, even if Bugsy hadn't phrased it to be a question. He left off his sleeve-tugging as Bugsy sent out his first Pokemon, noting how battle-worn the Metapod appeared to be, differentiating itself from its wild kin. It would be no simple target, even if it had no limbs to easily move about. "I hope not to dash your expectations too much with this Pokemon of mine, a song well sung in your gym, I imagine," Ashton chuckled as he let June free from her ball, his Spearow settling down on his outstretched arm. Her feathers had retained the same glossy look from before, but had grown a little ruffled as excitement descended upon her with a battle imminent. "Don't be too confident," Ashton said in a low voice to June. She turned her head towards him, interest piqued - it wasn't like her trainer to give pre-battle advice, so he had to have good reason to warn against being too cocky. "It might be a Bug-type, but it is a gym leader's Pokemon, so keep your guard up. But otherwise? Have fun with this." He finished with a grin that June echoed within her heart, if not on her face. "Alright girl, take to the sky," Ashton said, wincing as June's talons dug into his arm briefly as she launched herself into the air, soaring to the center of the battlefield. He switched his attention back to Bugsy, hoping the leader wouldn't be too sorely disappointed he'd gone with a Flying type as his first choice. "I won't waste time on preamble - June, start with Aerial Ace!" the model called out. Hearing the confident note in his voice, June flared her wings as wide as she could in a silent boast to her foe. She heard Ashton's warning run through her mind, tempering her confidence before it got the better of her. "Spearrrow!" the scruffy bird cried as she dove towards her foe, swooping low to the floor. It opened her up to being attacked in return, but she wasn't about to fight a completely unfair battle by staying out of range. (( OOC: Word count for Heracross egg in party should be at 5800 - this post ought to be enough to hatch it at 400. Takeshi also needs Wing Attack over Agility. Thank you ^^)) ▲ ● (SOME BUG PUN HERE) ●

Bugsy was impressed by Ashton's response even if he had not technically been asking a question as it was quite a rare thing to have a trainer be so confident without talking trash to him. Even if Ashton's first Pokemon was all to common to see in his gym Bugsy was still interested to see if Ashton was going to use anything to set himself apart from most of the trainers. " I won't sugar coat it, I have seen many Spearow in my time as a gym leader but just because I have seen a bunch of them does not mean they always use the same move. With that in mind I am happy to see what strategy you will use." Bugsy was not quite sure what the young man was planning but he did not let that stop him. As June took to the sky Bugsy thought for sure Ashton was going to have the Spearow try a peck attack but before he could issue Metapod a warning he heard Ashton order an attack he had not seen in quite some time. " Oh that is an unexpected move, most trainers would just try and use Peck. I knew there was something special about you and so far you are not disappointing me at all." Bugsy knew he had no hope of getting Metapod to dodge the attack but he could at least help it endure whatever Ashton tried next. " Metapod it is too late to avoid this one but I know you are strong enough to endure the hit. Right after it connects use Harden to increase your defense to protect yourself from the next attack." Metapod acknowledged its order and waited for June to strike. It did not have enough time to harden its shell before the bird impacted it with her Aerial Ace but right after the attack the bug was able to make its cocoon far harder than normal. " That sure was a nice twist but as I did warn you my Pokemon are a bit tougher than most bug types you have faced. Your attack did indeed do a lot of damage but as you can see my Metapod is still able to fight." He said as he looked over at Ashton. The young man had indeed thought things through so far but he was still not able to defeat Metapod in the opening strike. Even with the type disadvantage Bugsy could at least put up quite a fight now that Metapod had boosted its defense. Before the next round could begin however the Heracross egg in Ashton's bag began to glow and shake before hatching. Bugsy immediately was filled with glee as he saw the hatched Pokemon. " Oh wow, that is a Heracross. I need to capture one to use here in my gym but that is quite an impressive Pokemon. I have to admit I am a bit jealous right now." For all Ashton's bravado, he'd been worried Bugsy would be disappointed regardless of what he said, and was glad the leader took it in stride. It reminded him of the one instance Elesa had invited him a few other models to a fashion show doubling as a surprise gym battle, and how she handled the Sandile her challenger had used with complete grace. Sandile were common in the desert route leading to Nimbasa, she'd noted with a tolerant laugh, and many trainers caught them to use in gym battles for their advantage over her Electric-types. Leaders expected this kind of thing, Ashton thought. Silly of him to be so fixated on something so trivial. Ashton held his breath as June drew closer to Metapod, wondering if the cocoon had some dastardly trick prepared for his Spearow when she finally made contact. June tilted to one side as she struck the hard body, ensuring the blow would connect, and hurriedly pivoted around to soar back to the middle of the field. Retaliation this turn would not come at all, June's eyes narrowing as a gleam appeared to ripple over Metapod's body, adding another layer of defense. She held back an irritated squawk, annoyed with herself for not being strong enough to knock the immobile Bug-type out in one swoop, unable to see the damage she'd done reflected on her opponent's chitinous shell. Ashton was watching it all quietly, thinking out his next moves, when his bag suddenly jerked hard enough to make him stumble slightly. "What? Now, of all times?!" the model exclaimed aloud as he opened the flap and beheld his egg shaking wildly, just barely taking it out before a bright light flared up. Bits of egg shell scattered across the floor and his shoes as the former occupant landed in front of Ashton, blinking curious eyes up at him. Bugsy's excited reaction answered Ashton's unasked question, identifying the unknown Pokemon as a Heracross. Ashton looked down at the Pokemon with bemusement, its attention wandering to the surroundings and eventually to Bugsy's Metapod. The baby let out a fierce cry and made as if to spring forwards, held back only by Ashton hastily lunging forwards to restrain it. "Heh, your enthusiasm is appreciated little one, but you're a bit too young to be getting into scraps," he said, grunting as he tried lifting up the Heracross. For a freshly hatched Pokemon, it sure was big, too big to be carrying around or holding the entire time he was going to be in the gym. "Maybe you can give me some pointers on Heracross when our battle is over," Ashton said, directing this to Bugsy as he sought a spare ball to house his new Pokemon. "Another Aerial Ace, my dear." This to June, the Spearow acknowledging with a cry before diving for Metapod once again. HeracrossName: Xena Gender: Female OT: Ashton Jace Reid Level: 1 Moves: Leer, Tackle, Endure, Horn Attack Ability: Guts Nature: Adamant Personality: Xena is oblivious to the word no - she'll do whatever it takes to make something happen. Fighting things bigger than herself, scampering off alone to find some tasty nectar, Xena is fearless to a degree that borders on near insanity. Bugsy was beyond ecstatic to hear Ashton might be interested in pointers about Heracross after the battle and he could barely contain his excitement as he responded. " Oh I most certainly would give you some pointers if you would like. Heracross is very powerful and there are a number of ways it could help on your journey. For now though there is the battle at hand." He said as Metapod stood bravely not for a moment thinking it would get off easy this round. The baby Heracross trying to leap into action gave it a short burst of hope especially with the increased protection it had but then as Ashton gave his orders it became clear the small ray of hope it had were all but gone. June flappped her wings to gain altitude until she was high enough to go into a dive straight into Metapod with all of her might. The bug was a bit harder but she did not think Metapod would be tough enough to take such a powerful blow. To her shock however the boosted defense was just enough to keep Metapod in the fight. " Great job enduring that hit Metapod. I know you are almost ready to faint but we can at least do a bit of damage before that happens. Use Bug Bite on that Spearow." He said as Metapod bounced towards June with its mouth wide open. June thought it was such a silly sight she did not even try to dodge the attack not realizing just how capable the bug could be. Metapod bit down on her wing with all her might causing a small amount of damage. It was not a very big strike but it did show June that she was not invincible to the bugs over time. " Things do not look very good for me right now but I am just getting warmed up. Metapod you have done great so far so if you do faint after the next attack know that you have tired your best and I am proud of you for lasting as long as you did." Bugsy then waited for the next round while pondering whether or not he should use his trump card this early in the battle. Gym Battle (Weather: Clear)Bugsy's Metapod | Level 18 HP: 5% (3/51 HP) Status: Normal, Defense +1 Metapod used Bug Bite! VS

It was amusing to him that Bugsy was more excited by his Heracross than Ashton himself was. Not that he was unhappy with his new Pokemon, or found Bugsy's enthusiasm laughable, of course - he simply didn't share the same affection for Bug-types that the Azalea leader did. ( Not that you'd know that, given how many of these bugs I seem to have acquired over time.) First had been Takeshi, from the redheaded devil, and then a Durant from his own home region, and now this Heracross. Said Heracross was ranging about, still attempting to get by Ashton in her attempt to join the fray. The model finally pulled a ball free from the mess that was his bag, things knocked askew by the egg's impending hatching, and hastily recalled the Heracross before she could slip by. She was feisty, that was sure, if she was trying to get into fights fresh after hatching. It made for a promising start if he chose to raise her up, Ashton hoping his chat with Bugsy after their battle concluded would give him better insight on his Heracross' potential. June pulled his attention away as she climbed up to dive bomb her foe, the ruffian hawk making the most of her chance to shine. Oblivious to how Metapod had bolstered its defense, she arrowed in on the unmoving cocoon with some degree of overconfidence, forgetting to check herself in the heat of battle. To say she was surprised by the change in Metapod's shell was an understatement, her attack scarcely sending Metapod moving. She hovered in place, expression of shock quickly morphing into one of incredulity as her foe finally went on the offensive and hopped determinedly towards her. Belatedly realizing her mistake, June beat her wings hard to evade, efforts in vain as Metapod latched on to one wing with its hidden mouth. The sharp pain elicited a squawk, and served to make her flap even harder to dislodge her opponent, eventually succeeding, though the damage had been done. She circled around and tried to inspect her throbbing wing, only seeing some crooked feathers where she'd been bitten. This gave her due cause to glare ferociously at Metapod, not having expected it to pack more than Tackle, like some of the wild ones she'd come across before meeting Ashton. "If you're that upset, put some more oomph into your next strike," Ashton drawled in low tones as June's circling brought her within hearing range. She dipped her head in full agreement, fighting spirit blazing up once more - Metapod's attack had only served to stoke the flames even more. "I'm very curious to see what else you've got in store," he said conversationally to Bugsy. "Especially with how this turn will go down. June - Aerial Ace." Metapod had taken two highly damaging attacks, and even a novice trainer like Ashton could guess that it wouldn't last the turn. June, raring to finish this fight, sought to repeat her previous performance with a little extra flair - just for Ashton's sake. ▲ ● (June uses Aerial Ace) ●

With the third round about to begin Bugsy had no doubts that his Metapod was in quite a pickle. The bug had taken a beating and even though it had done a tiny bit of damage to June but there was no real doubt in his mind that Metapod was going to be defeated after the next attack. Hearing Ashton give June the order to use Aerial Ace again only confirmed the suspicious he had that this challenger was not about to hold back. This did help him kae up his mind as to which one of his Pokemon he was going to use next however as he was not going to hold back any longer either. June took off and flew towards Metapod at full speed scoring another direct hit finally knock the bug out but instead of being disappointed Bugsy smiled. " Bravo, that was an excellent first match up. I have to admit things did not go my way at all this time but by not holding back you are certainly on your way towards earning my badge. I was not sure if I should go conservative in my next choice or aggressive but your display has convinced me not to hold back anymore. With that in mind I am going to use the ace up my sleeve to turn things around." He said as he recalled Metapod and grabbed another Pokeball from his pouch. As he tossed it on the ground in front of him a large green mantis Pokemon known as Scyther appeared very eager to get into a battle and avenge its comrade. With a smile Bugsy introduced his next Pokemon. " As you can probably tell my next Pokemon is quite a step up in terms of power over Metapod. I know you wanted to see what else I had in store for you and now my strongest is ready to battle. I should warn you she has a few tricks of her own so unlike Metapod she will not be very easy to take down." He said waiting to see Ashton's response. Gym Battle (Weather: Clear)Bugsy's Metapod | Level 18 HP: 0% (0/51 HP) Status: KO'ed KO'ed! VS

June knew this battle had been hers from the start, even if Metapod had thrown her a bit askew with its unorthodox attack. She was a Spearow, a bird Pokemon born and built to take down bugs, no matter how much they tried to delay the inevitable. The only downside to this fight was that she would be unable to eat the Metapod, though June suspected both trainers would very much frown upon her trying to do so. She didn't fancy trying to break open its hard shell in any case, especially after how the cocoon had remained conscious despite her type advantage with Aerial Ace, but not for much longer. A triumphant caw heralded the end of Metapod, June lifting away to soar gleefully around Ashton. "Very well done my dear," Ashton said in an impressed tone, June all but glowing from the hard-won praise. She couldn't wait to face Astraea again and tell the annoying Squirtle about this fight, and how Ashton had praised her, of all Pokemon. Ashton's face as Bugsy spoke about the results of the first round could only be described as smug. "Pretty good for just a pretty face from Unova," the model said, hoping it didn't come across as too arrogant. ( You beat one Pokemon, out of three. Getting lax now would just be a disaster.) This voice sounded very much like that of his sister, and it was enough to throw cold water on his ego before it ruined everything. "Whatever you've got up your sleeve, my team is ready," he said in response to Bugsy's announcement of bringing in his ace. The Scyther's appearance nearly had him laughing out loud - not for the Pokemon itself, but at the universe giving him a clear sign. Ashton couldn't quite stop the smirk that crossed his face as he reached into his bag for Takeshi's ball, gesturing for June to clear out of the way. "This is where things get interesting. Takeshi, you're up!" he called before sending the ball flying. Takeshi, when compared to Bugsy's own Scyther, was one interesting contrast. Covered in small scars, wings ragged at the edges and a general hardiness that spoke of a harsh life, but a life well-lived for one of his kind. Bugsy's Scyther looked much more perky and healthy, and while she was intimidating in her own way, she didn't possess the same innate toughness Takeshi had acquired over the years. "May the best Scyther win," Ashton said to Bugsy before his gaze returned to the waiting Takeshi. "Show 'em what you're made of - Wing Attack!" Fired up over the idea of fighting another Scyther, Takeshi uttered a rough cry before charging into the fray. (Edit: Please forget Growl for Mirror Move!) ▲ ● (Takeshi uses Wing Attack) ●

Bugsy seemed impressed when his challenger sent out a Scyther of his own. "Have a few bug Pokemon of your own, hey?" Bugsy smirked. "Let us see who truly has the greatest Scyther! Scyther, now! hit him with a Quick Attack!" Before Takeshi's attack could even land, Bugsy's Scyther had landed a decent blow to his counterpart. Although, it wouldn't be enough to deal any large amount of damage to the challenger's Pokemon. Before Bugsy knew it, Takeshi landed it's own blow back onto his Scyther, an attack that would send the gym leader's Scyther onto the ground. The challenger had realized Bugsy's Pokemon team's weakness, being comprised entirely of Bug-type Pokemon. The flying type move had dealt significant damage to the Scyther. As it would seem, not even its Sitrus Berry could save Bugsy's Scyther from the crushing blow that it's opponent's Scyther had dealt. The best Scyther, as it would appear, was Ashton's Takeshi. The gym-leader's trusted Pokemon laid there, collapsed on the ground, defeated. Bugsy seemed astonished that the challenger had knocked out his prized Bug-Pokemon so easily, but had to keep his mind on the battle if he wanted any chance of digging his way out of this deficit. "Scyther!" Bugsy called out to his Pokemon. "Rest up." The gym-leader returned the Scyther to its Pokeball allowing it to rest. "Don't you worry, I've got one more Bug Pokemon for you to face! Go, Kakuna!"Bugsy released his final hopes to win the battle from the Pokeball, still somehow hoping that his last remaining Bug-type Pokemon could win the battle for his team. Of course, it seemed impossible that one Kakuna could stand up against the challenger's Scyther, much less the rest of his Pokemon team, but what harm would having hope do? There was still a chance he could somehow pull it off. Besides, who knew how weak the rest of Ashton's team could be if Bugsy's Kakuna somehow was able to defeat the Scyther. "Alright, Kakuna!" Bugsy exclaimed loudly. "I'm counting on you!" Weather Status: Normal Bugsy's Scyther | Level 21 | Technician Health : 0% (0/66 HP)Status : Normal Used Quick Attack! ....KO'd! The two Scyther were sizing each other up, Takeshi keeping his face from betraying the excitement he felt facing another of his kind. Even though he had preemptively charged in, Bugsy's Pokemon struck first, her speed leaving her a pale-green streak on the field. Takeshi cursed himself as he was too slow to lift his arms to block the worst of the attack, only the Eviolite's warding power taking the sting out of it. Displeased with himself, Takeshi channeled that feeling into his return strike, wings hardening as he turned to one side and struck his foe while she was still within range. It threw Bugsy's partner back a considerable distance, where she collapsed to the floor, Takeshi and Ashton both waiting for her to rise back up and continue the fight. But when she failed to stir, and Bugsy soon confirming it with her recall, Ashton didn't bother hiding his delight in the smack down delivered by his own Scyther. Takeshi was the only one who seemed annoyed, a sour face all he allowed to show of his feelings on the matter. Had that really been a gym leader's Pokemon? One blow and it was all over, battle fury broken. The next Pokemon Bugsy sent out was given a disdainful glare, Takeshi turning away from it and giving Ashton a significant look. Ashton recalled the mantis, startled by the vehemence - so much for working on appeasing the irascible Scyther. "Sorry about that. He isn't the nicest Bug-type out there," the model muttered, not so for excusing Takeshi's behaviour, but to hopefully keep Bugsy from thinking the worst. His mood was lightened by knowing he only had a Kakuna to deal with before the badge was his. Ashton's last Pokemon was Hyperion, the Houndour shaking himself out vigorously after being released from his ball. Hyperion's ears pricked up as he realized a battle was at hand, and he shrugged off his usual display of ignorance towards Ashton to stand stock still. "Bet you don't see too many of these in here," Ashton couldn't help bragging, meaning Houndour as a whole. "But I didn't bring him just for show. Hyperion, roast them with Ember!" Dark eyes locked onto Bugsy's Kakuna, Hyperion's lips already lifting up to reveal a hint of small flames escaping through his teeth. Unlike Takeshi, he wasn't going to be choosy about how he won this fight, or how much fight his opponent put up - all that mattered was winning. Bugsy knew in his heart that Takeshi defeating his Scyther so quickly was not a very good omen at all. His final Pokemon was not as powerful as his Scyther and it could not even heal any injuries that it sustained from any of Ashton's attacks. He knew all hope was lost if Ashton used Takeshi against his Kakuna but breathed a slight sigh of relief when the young man swapped out the mantis Pokemon for a Houndour. As tough as a Houndour was it was not quite as dangerous to his Kakuna though he still did not think he had any real chance of winning the battle at this point. As he crossed his arms pondering what options he had left he still felt the need to chat to pass the time. " Oh no worries, given their strength I am not too surprised to see a Scyther show no mercy to one of its own. One thing you quickly learn about Scyther is that they hate to hold back on anything and it is nice to see yours go all out. It is a shame that mine only got off a single Quick Attack but I have to give you kudos for raising yours so well." As he saw the Houndour get ready to strike he gave his Kakuna the order to attack as much as he doubted it would make any real difference at this point. "Kakuna try a Bug Bite attack. You are the only hope I have left." Hyperion was faster however and got his Ember off before the bug could leap into action. As the small Ember struck the bug it caused massive damage but thanks in part to its level it was able to stay in the fight. It sunk its teeth into Hyperion's leg out of desperation and caused a large amount of damage but not enough to knock the hell hound out. Things got bad from there as Hyperion fired another Ember this time knocking Kakuna out before it even had the chance to strike again. After a moment of silence Bugsy finally spoke as a smile ran across his face. He had been soundly defeated but he had a lot of fun and Ashton did not solely rely on fire types to defeat him. " I admit I am a bit disappointed I could not give you more of a challenge but you were indeed a fantastic opponent. Houndour are indeed rare in this gym and yours did a wonderful job against my Kakuna. I would like you to have this Hive Badge and TM-89 U-Turn as a symbol of your victory. If you ever need advice on raising Bug type Pokemon please do pay me another visit." He then started to head for the entrance of the gym hoping to get to the Pokemon Center and back before anyone else wanted to challenge him as his team desperately needed to be healed as soon as possible. Of course that red-haired demon would give him a Scyther with temper trouble, Ashton thought with bitter amusement. It suited her, somehow. At least Bugsy was understanding about it, in a way that spoke of him likely having trouble of his own - perhaps even with the very Scyther he'd just used. It made Ashton feel somewhat better, although he was still resolved to, if his nerve didn't fail him, talk to Takeshi about his reaction. ( Because that will go over so well!) Well, maybe after participating in this fight, Takeshi might actually listen to him instead of affecting his usual disdainful ignoring of Ashton's existence. He shook his head once, putting aside the matter to watch Hyperion bring the match to its conclusion. Hyperion couldn't end it in one strike, owing to his lower level, but it was enough to impress Ashton regardless. All three of his Pokemon had performed beyond his expectations, the flush of victory slow to settle upon him; he'd actually won? Ha! He couldn't wait to message Nolan about this, and silence the naysayers doubting his ability to make it very far on the gym challenge track, even briefly. Two badges was nothing to sniff at, and hey, maybe it would earn him a little cred amongst the modeling community as he established himself here in Johto. So caught up in what could be that Ashton nearly missed Bugsy congratulating him and approaching with his winnings. "Thank you very much," Ashton responded, opting to be humble instead of bragging like he rather wished to. He followed Bugsy out of the gym after recalling Hyperion, breathing in the fresh air to relax before a huge grin split his face. Nolan was going to have a field day spinning this for him. ▲ ● (Thread complete!) ●
