For many trainers, Route 29 was dull and boring, this clearly didn't appear to be the case for Bishop. Not only had the young male encountered and captured a Shiny Mankey, his Sableye egg was now violently shaking, the pokemon inside the shell was clearly agitated and wished to escape. While everything positive seemed to be happening for Bishop at once, one particular wild Pidgey who had experienced its fair share of bad luck today wished to take its anger out. Bishop had only just released his Swinub named Rex into battle when the wild Pidgey decided to make a move. Gliding through the inclement weather the flying type pokemon launched its body into the pig pokemon, its tackle attack had been simple yet effective.
Under the command of his trainer, Rex bit down on the wild Pidgey's left wing as the flying type pokemon attempted to retreat to a safe distance. Pidgey screeched out in pain, it was already difficult enough for the avian to traverse through the weather, now with a hurt wing the task would become even more taxing. Pidgey glared towards Bishop's Swinub, it was even more aggravated than it had been previously. While its luck had been down today, Pidgey believed a victory here would vindicate it and partially make-up for what had been a rather tumultuous series of events that had occurred.
As the battle had commenced, the violently shaking egg in Bishop's grasp begun to crack. Numerous smaller cracks could be seen around the surface of the egg. It seemed as though the young Sableye inside was ready to meet its trainer and his team. One particularly large crack split the egg into two and the dark type pokemon emerged, the darkness pokemon appeared startled by the brightness of the outside world at first glance. This was surely a special moment for Bishop and here a pesky wild Pidgey was attempting to ruin that moment.

The Pidgey still wasn't taking no for an answer. If it had decided to run after the first bite Bishop probably would have relented and let it go. Since it was interrupting his special moment though he was going to have to capture the hapless bird and teach it better. Poor thing could probably do with a little training anyway judging by the way it attacked. "Rex, bite him again!" he yelled, trying to keep an eye both on his Swinub and the egg that was hatching in his arms. Bishop felt the last of the egg crumble away and looked down then into the gem stone eyes of his little Sableye. "Well hello there," he said with a pleased smile. "Welcome to the world little friend. Sorry that things are a bit confused at the moment but you'll get used to it I think." He looked over to see Rex charging to the attack again and turned his new pokemon a little in his arms so that Sableye could watch as well. "That is Rex there and he is protecting you from an angry Pidgey. Don't you worry a bit. We'll take care of you!" Holding his new little friend Bishop tried to make Sableye feel safe and keep an eye on Rex at the same time. Bishop's focus never truly appeared to waver between the events that were happening around him, despite the fact that he was now cradling a newly hatched Sableye, the young male was still aware of the task at hand, defeat this pesky Pidgey. Both Rex the Swinub and the wild Pidgey's focus had not wavered throughout the proceedings of the egg hatching, neither of them was going to allow the other to possibly attain even the slightest of advantages in the battle.
Pidgey had over-heard the trainer owned pokemon be issued his next command, it appeared that the brown pig pokemon was trying its best to make Pidgey's wing too damaged to fly, thus limiting its battling capabilities, the flying type pokemon was determined to not allow that to happen as it sprung into action once again. As the faster of the two battling pokemon, the wild Pidgey glided, slower than it had done so previously towards Bishop's Swinub and launched its frame into the pig pokemon's, the avian had used the opposite side of its body to initiate its tackle attack as it did not want to further damage the wing that had already been damaged due to Rex's Bite attack.
Rex was smooth in his response, although the tackle attacks from the wild Pidgey were slowly but steadily beginning to take their toll upon him, this did not hinder his ability to damage the avian's wing even further. The wild Pidgey attempted to dodge the close quarters manoeuvre however its right wing was latched onto by Rex. Much like before Pidgey screeched out as it writhed in pain, of the two combatants in battle the avian clearly was showing further signs of damage and fatigue. Pidgey's facial expression indicated that it was experiencing a level of discomfort and pain, the bird pokemon was not going to allow himself to lose the battle though, this was the moment his luck would change for the better, he was sure of it.

Little Topaz had settled in to watch, rather fascinated by all the excitement. Apparently she was feeling safe and secure which only made Bishop smile all the more. With her resting in the crook of his arm and leaning back against him it left his other hand free to find a pokeball in his pack and get it ready.
"Bite him again," he ordered Rex who seemed to be getting the better part of this fight thus far. One more good hit should weaken the Pidgey enough for the capture.
Stepping a bit to the side for a better angle Bishop began to wind up for the pitch. As soon as Rex attacked he threw just as hard as he could hoping for the best!

The battle between Rex the Swinub and the wild Pidgey had been fairly even, neither pokemon was going to give up. The slippery surface that they had been fighting on certainly added an extra element of intrigue to the battle. Bishop stood by observing the battle with an evident smile on his face, the trainer was filled with joy that his Sableye, whom he had named Topaz had hatched from its egg. Rex's Bite attack appeared to be leaving more of an impact upon the wild Pidgey than the avian's tackle attack had been doing to him, thus giving Rex the slightest of advantages. Pidgey's facial expression still evidenced that it was in pain from Rex's bite attacks, the flying type pokemon's wings were not as capable as they had been at the beginning of the battle.
Despite the amount of pain it was in, Pidgey fought through and used its speed advantage over the brown pig pokemon to launch its frame into Rex's. Bishop's Swinub was knocked over and tumbled a few metres before coming to a halt, the tackle attacks were certainly starting to take their toll. The slippery surface was beneficial for Rex as he covered the ground between he and the wild Pidgey swiftly and lurched his teeth into the body of the avian rather then the wings this time. Pidgey screeched out loudly as it writhed in pain, little did it know that Bishop had been preparing a pokeball to capture it. Unaware of the red and white object that had closely followed Rex's Bite attack, the pokeball connected with the head of the wild Pidgey and the flying type pokemon was engulfed inside of the ball as it proceeded to fall to the ground. The pokeball swished from side to side violently, despite the significant amount of damage it had taken Pidgey was fighting until the very end. It's fight was in vain however as the pokeball stopped moving and a distinct click sound could be heard, Bishop had caught himself a Pidgey.

Bishop let out a little cheer when the Pidgey was caught. Much to his delight Topaz seemed to be trying to imitate his reaction when she pumped her little fist and made an odd, almost cheer like noise. Coming from the ghost pokemon most people would have thought it sounded odd or creepy. He found it rather adorable. "We are going to name our new friend Patch," he said then, watching as the ball finally settled and the capture was assured. "His feathers were kind of patchy but I'm sure he will clean up just fine." With that he went to tend to Rex's wounds. Most of them were just bruises so his little friend would need to rest for awhile. In fact the whole team needed a bit of a rest. They weren't too far from town. He could go in, restock on food and let everyone stretch their legs a bit and juggle the party some. A part of Bishop didn't like leaving pokemon in the PC. Or in their pokeballs too long for that matter. But others, like the professor, had assured him that it did no harm and he could only travel with so many at one time. There was no help for it and he had to start planning now for the first gym. They were almost ready but he still had to level up some of his party so they would be ready for Falkner. So it was that some time later, after a quick stop at the computer, that Bishop and his newly organized crew were ready to go adventuring again. Night fall found them out by the tall grass once more with maybe time enough for one more encounter before they needed to set up a camp. As the darkness settled in Bishop started to feel lucky. "You walk with me Topaz," he told the little Sableye as they poked around in the grass and near the trees. "If we find something I'll pull you out and send one of the others in so you can see what it's like." It felt good to have a plan. (Ooc: A little bookkeeping to take care of then. I want to reorganize my party so that I have with me my Swinub, Pikachu, Charmander, Swablu, Mudbray and Sableye. Everyone else will be in the pc for the time being. If I need to submit a request or something for that let me know. As for my new capture here is the info for the Pidgey: PidgeyName: Patch Gender: Male Level: 4 Moves: Tackle, Sand Attack Ability: Keen Eye Nature/Personality: Rash Thanks!

((OOC: please note we are trialing the new rules to allow for faster modding, but you are able to opt out any time you like! ))As both Bishop and Topaz poked about in the frost-covered grass, an angry-looking Pokemon observed them from above with its beady eyes. As the trainer and his Sableye got closer to the tree it was sheltering in, the primate dropped down from above and let out a primal cry. "Maaaaannkeyy!" Bishop encountered another Mankey! Topaz stared in amazement for a moment at this new threat but Bishop wasn't going to leave her out there to face this alone...even if the Mankey had no attacks which could harm the Sableye. Recalling her quickly he sent out his Charmander to do the actual fighting. All the better to earn his crew some needed experience.
"Ember, use your fire attack!"
Using her ember attack ought to give the fighting type some pause.

The wild Mankey charged towards Topaz aiming to unleash a flurry of attacks but before it could make contact, Bishop had recalled his Pokemon and a plucky looking Charmander was in its place! Undeterred but this new entrant, the Mankey continued its assault and sweep at the fire Pokemon with a Low Kick! It was a blow which barely hurt the well-trained Pokemon as the Charmander spat red-hot cinders at the pig monkey. Aided by the lump of Charcoal it was holding, the Ember attack proved to be the coup de grâce. (Say, I like this new system. ) Bishop had to blink a couple of times in surprise as they fight went off without any complications at all! Checking Ember to make sure she wasn't badly hurt he gave her a bit of tender loving care before setting off again. Another fight or two like that and Topaz would have the confidence to fight on her own. From the sidelines within the cover of winter foliage came a happy squeak. Soon following a spinning figure slid into the route with a small wave of powdered snow. It's path was just a few feet away from being between Bishop's legs. The sight of the trainer though brought that blissful glee to a pause; or maybe it was the intended entry. (That's right, thank you. And sorry...thought I was supposed to make short replies too. o.O )
Surprised by the sudden entrance of the Sentret Bishop and Topaz both paused. The trainer couldn't help but grin a bit as this newcomer certainly knew how to make an entrance. She had style he mused. He was likewise pleasantly surprised by Topaz's reaction. Seeing the threat she balled up her own little fists and prepared to fight.
Now she was only recently hatched and Bishop felt rather protective of his new baby. But there was no denying that Topaz had spirit as well and wanted to be a fighting pokemon like the rest of the party. This Sentret looked like a fair fight for her....maybe more than fair. If memory served this wild pokemon didn't have any attacks that could hit her and their levels were pretty close as well.
"All right Topaz, your up. Use your scratch attack!"
If she could win this her level was sure to go up making her even stronger.

Her opponent was quick and elusive, its movements boosted by the dew-covered grass but these conditions also suited the Sableye. As a ghostly shadow she glided across the grass with ease matching the speed of the Scout Pokemon. Sentret had difficulty detecting this dark ghost scampering around and did not see Topaz lunge out from the shadows to strike with her claws dealing a moderate blow. However, it would take a great deal more before the Sentret would capitulate to its foe. Summoning its powers of Foresight, Sentret's eyes lit up and locked onto the Topaz's movements, allowing the sentry to track her movements and attack with normal type moves!

Bishop realized his mistake when he saw what the Sentret was doing. Oh what a clever little scout she was. Now realizing that the opponent would be able to hit his little ghost pokemon he became a bit more cautious. That was what over confidence got you he supposed.
"Be careful Topaz," he called out. "It can hit you now. Scratch it again and try to dodge it's attacks!"
That might be a bit of an ask for recently hatched young pokemon but he could try. Topaz was pretty quick he thought, both in her movements and what she understood so far so maybe it would work. If all else failed scratch was kind of weak as attacks went. If she started to struggle he could still rotate her out before she got in over her head.
