From around the corner, a young boy charged out, then stopped as he saw the ekans fainted in the road. “Aww man!” The kid said, panting for breath as he hunched over. “I missed the whole thing!” The boy looked like he was about 9 years old, his unruly brown hair curling off his head. He had a necklace on with a large pokéball dangling from it, crudely attached by a hook which looked like it had been glued to the pokéball, and a red bandanna covering his neck. The boy recovered from his small sprint rather quickly, and then ran over to the ekans which was lying on the ground. “Are you gonna catch this thing mister?” He said eyeing Finnian over. “I’m Alan, and I’m in charge of these streets, and I bet Ellen I’d catch one before her, but they’re just so darn hard to find! If you loan me a pokéball I promise I’ll take good care of the ekans! Plus, Ellen bet me a great ball I wouldn’t be able to catch one. If you let me catch this guy, I promise I’ll give you the great ball!”
Young Trainer Alan wants to catch the ekans you knocked out, and is offering you a greatball which they don't yet have! Will you take the young trainer up on their offer?(OOC: Requesting 127 words be added to your egg wordcount for your last post!)

Finnian quickly got an answer, but it wasn't the one he was expecting. It seemed the boy was excited to see him holding an Ekans, and was disappointed that he'd missed the battle. Finnian decided to refrain from telling him that there hadn't been much to see with all the fog, because he didn't want to risk making any of his Pokemon feel like they hadn't done well, when they had. He didn't know if they could hear what was going on outside their Pokeballs, but he was willing to bet they might be able to. After all, weren't they just a weird kind of container? He could hear what was going on in other rooms when he was in one, or what was going on outside a window.
"No, I wasn't going to," he admitted, wondering if he was about to be lectured for fainting a Pokemon he didn't mean to capture. He was trying to help him! But, that wasn't what the boy said next. No, he was asking to be given the Ekans! Finnian brightened slightly at the request. "Yeah, sure! Just promise to take good care of him," Finnian said, gently putting the Ekans on the ground and digging through his bag for a Pokeball, which he held out to the boy to let him do the honors.
He couldn't see anything wrong with this plan. Even if he wound up not getting a Great Ball for whatever reason, he'd have done a good thing in giving this Ekans a place to live.

Alan's eyes brightened when he was given the okay to catch the Ekans by Finnian, even handed a Pokeball. "Wow, thanks mister, you're so nice!!" he seemed almost in disbelief, but he grinned as he touched the Pokeball to the Ekan's scales and it was sucked inside of the ball. After a few shakes, it was Alan's! He cheered out, unable to help himself, and turned to Finnian, extending a Great Ball to him, as promised. "I would have never been able to catch it without your help, thanks! I really promise to take good care of him!" humming, Alan skipped away, cheerful about his new snake, which he was sure was going to be his best friend in the world in no time. What Finnian was unfortunately about to learn should he not know it already, was one of the most important lessons in adulthood: With kids, you just can't win. "Hey! I wanted that Ekans!" a small girl hissed as she called Finnian's attention, stamping her foot as sparks flew from the Pichu's cheeks where it sat perched on her shoulder. "You shouldn't have given it to that kid, he doesn't even live here!" she scoffed, taking Pichu off her shoulder and shoving it forward gently. "Come on, Chu-Chu, we have to teach this mean man a lesson!" Mean man? After the good Finnian had just done for that happy little boy? Well, it was clear she wasn't about to take no for an answer. 'No' wasn't a word in Katie's vocabulary. You let Youngster Alan catch Ekans and made him very happy! You lost a Pokeball and he handed you a Great Ball in return! (Will ask for those updates to be done)
Oh no! Picnicker Katie is upset you let Alan have that Ekans! She sends out Pichu (Level 6)!

The boy was so excited that Finnian was giving him his Ekans that the young man couldn't help but smile. He loved making others happy, and it seemed as though he'd done that quite well. "So are you! Thanks for giving me this," Finnian said, offering a little wave as the boy ran off.
Unfortunately, in making one person happy he'd really pissed off another. "Wait, what?" he asked in confusion. "What does him not living here have anything to do with it?" He didn't live there either, so did that mean he wasn't allowed to catch Pokemon here? That didn't make any sense! Apparently, he was going to have to fight even if he didn't want to, for the girl's Pichu was stepping up threateningly. Oh boy, who to send out... Talia wouldn't do any good at all, and Florus wouldn't do much better. Aislyn might be able to handle the baby Pokemon... but first he'd let Cara deal with things.
"I don't want to do this," he said as he released the Silcoon, who was always ready for a fight. She didn't have tiny arms to flail threateningly at her opponent, but the silk around her shook and a strange hissing sound escaped her. Deciding to start things out from a distance, Cara shot a poisonous barb towards her opponent.

"Wait! You honestly have no clue do you?!" the Picnicker gasped incredulously crossing her arms scornfully. " Not living here has everything to do with it! Complete strangers pass through our beautiful city every day thinking they own the place and catching all our Pokemon. There are hardly anymore left! Well I won't stand for this! About time us locals fought back!" Static crackled across Pichu's cheeks as Katie spoke indignantly about the city's woes. Pointing a finger directly at Cara, Katie directed her Pokemon to commence her attack. Cherry blossoms drifted serenely across the street, dancing gently with the wind. The serenity was broken when Chu-Chu unleashed a surge of electricity which struck Cara, shocking the Silcoon with the burst of energy. Cara nonetheless brushed off the attack and from her cocooned body, a long sharp barb emerged and detonated, propelling a poison-tipped javelin towards the Pichu. The spike struck Chu-Chu and released toxins into the Pichu's system poisoning her instantly. Trainer Battle (Weather = Blooming)

As it happened, the girl had an excellent explanation for why she was so angry, and Finnian would have recalled Cara and tried to walk away if he thought that would solve the problem. But, it didn't seem like it would. Besides, didn't she deserve the opportunity to vent her frustrations? "I'm sorry," he replied softly instead. "I never thought about it like that." Now he'd feel bad whenever he went to capture a Pokemon, but at the same time... Maybe there was something that could be done about it. He wanted to be a breeder, after all. Maybe when he had enough Pokemon he could work on repopulating them! Yeah, that sounded like a good compromise.
The bolt of electricity hurt, but Cara had known to expect it from the Electric-type. All she could do was attempt to withstand any further ones while also whittling away at her opponent. For now, she was going to hope that her opponent was poisoned and instead of sending another poisonous barb towards the Pichu she hurled herself forward, attempting to slam into the tiny, electrical mouse.

"Hmph," came the noise so matter-of-factly, "I bet you didn't. The pale yellow mouse mimicked her trainer, letting out a matching chu. "Give 'em another charge Chu-Chu." The picnicker was fiercely determined to hold her ground here. Despite the poison that afflicted her, Chu-Chu ramped up another crackle of sparks and sent them flying Cara's way. The cocoon pokémon was well prepared for the next round of electricity coursing through her compact body. As she had lunged into action she made sure to be grounded for the shock the pichu sent her way. Barely missing a step, or spin rather, the silcoon was whipping into the rodent in the next moment. Chu-Chu had the wind knocked out of her lungs, another pang of poison choking her body as she laid still for a moment. It was difficult to get back up but she managed to get standing. It was to be expected that the Pichu would attempt to shock her again, and as sparks flew and Cara felt electricity coursing through her silky body, she mentally sighed. This was so boring at the very beginning, wasn't it. Later on, things would get far more intense, and they would be able to trade blows even more viciously. Well, perhaps the Pichu would. Cara knew that her own strengths would lie in status effects and long distance attacks.
Right now, though, she had to get close if she wanted to do serious damage. Sure, she could stand back and try to shoot poisonous barbs at her opponent, but she knew that wouldn't be as useful as merely attempting to crash into the Pichu. Given that the Pichu hadn't tried to get away from her (or hadn't been able to) it would be simple to throw herself at the tiny electric mouse again. If she was lucky, this would be the end of it, for she found herself growing tired. If she wasn't lucky, then Finnian would probably have to trade her out, for she knew she wouldn't be able to survive much longer.

For just a moment, seeing the Pichu go down, Finnian was about to breathe a sigh of relief. He foolishly thought the battle was over, and the girl would accept his apology and leave (or at least just do the latter). Instead, she offered another Pokemon to challenge him again, and his features settled into an expression that was a mix of a pout and general disgruntlement. He didn't /want/ to keep fighting, especially not someone so much younger than him, nor someone fighting for a good cause. Though, now he had to wonder if things were actually as bad as she said they were considering she seemed to have at least two Pokemon of her own. He'd still admit she had a point.
"All right, fine," he said resignedly, recalling Cara because she had taken quite a bit of damage, unfortunately. He wished he could send in Aislyn to give her more experience, but he knew full well the Drowsee wouldn't do well. Although... Okay, he'd give it a shot. He remembered how Aislyn had been somewhat able to handle the Ekans, or at least had been able to avoid getting seriously hurt.
"Okay Ailsyn, time for you to try," he said, sending out the Drowzee. The Drowzee immediately began to make a complicated series of gestures, attempting to lull the Pikachu to sleep.

Katie was mad now, she would forever have a problem with people just showing up in her town and taking all their Pokemon. She watched as he sent out another Pokemon, and she shook her head. "That won't help. Pika-Pika, used Thundershock!" The Pikachu obeyed, cheeks sparking as electricity flew towards Aislyn, the Pokemon focused even as the electric coursed through her body in a light shock that hurt. She continued waving in a rhythmic way, and it wasn't long before the Pokemon slowly drifted into slumber, now at the Mercy of it's opponents. It looks like Clear Skies (No Effect!) Katie's Pika-Pika |Level 10| HP: 100%(30/30) Status: SLEEP! Pikachu used Thundershock! Pikachu did 12 Damage! Haha, Shock-- zzzzzz......
Finnian's Aislyn |Level 5| HP: 54% (12/22) Status: Normal Aislyn used Hypnosis! Put Pikachu to sleep! Night Night you commercialized mess.

Finnian had a bad feeling that Aislyn was going to get wiped out before she could even attempt to attack, especially when the Pikachu blasted her with a bolt of electricity. She managed to weather it somehow, and succeeded in causing the electric rodent to take a nap. Whew, that could have been a disaster! Embarrassing, to say the least. Now Aislyn had at least one turn to do some damage. It was unfortunate that she only knew one attack, and that it required her to get as close as it did, but they would just have to make do. So, the Drowzee toddled up to the slumbering mascot and attempted to smack him with a closed fist.

What could he do? Aislyn couldn't bring down this Pikachu on her own, that was certain. Perhaps she could have the Pichu, but he somewhat doubted that as well. The last thing Finnian wanted was for one of his Pokemon to become too injured to battle, simply because he would feel terrible if it happened. Cara had just fought, so she deserved the rest, and he knew Talia couldn't handle an Electric-type. That left him with only one choice: time to fight electricity with electricity!
"Okay Ailsyn, good job!" he said encouragingly as he recalled the Drowzee. Soon enough, she'd be able to finish a battle on her own, but today was not that time. Instead, he sent Florus out, allowing the Pikachu to take stock of the situation before offering an order. "Okay, go ahead and use your signature move," he said. If Florus thought it was odd to be fighting one of his own species, he didn't show it. He knew he was in a unique position to be able to use quite the effective move against Electric-types, while also being protected from them. He'd still take damage, unlike the true Ground-types, but at least he could do it. Perhaps he would be able to develop something even more useful when he evolved, or perhaps not. He and Finnian had a long way to go before that was a possibility anyway.
Doing as he was told, Florus shoved his shovel into the ground to dig up a bit of dirt (perhaps literally "tearing up the town") and got ready to throw it at the other Pikachu. For his part, Finnian sat back to wait, carefully holding onto the Goldeen egg he'd carried thus far. He hoped it would hatch soon, because it was kind of difficult hauling around such a fragile object, particularly for him.
Aislyn was recalled! Florus was sent out and used Mud-Slap!

"It's not fair!" Katie protested as Pika-Pika dreamed happily about thunderbolts and lightening. "Come on Pika-Pika, wake up! This way we will never turn things right," she complained and her pikachu sighed blissfully. Finnian had plenty of time to recall Aislyn and decide who should step up in her place instead. As Florus appeared Katie scoffed. "Pika-Pika wont be bothered much with electricity, Wake up! We can still turn this around!" She said, the last part directed to her sleeping pokemon. The call out of signature move didn't make Katie nervous at all, she didn't know what it could be but was certain it was some sort of electrical move, that was what pikachus were famous for. As Florus grabbed a good chunk of dirt with his shovel and then threw at Pika-Pika, sending the other pikachu tumbling over the ground, Katie screamed: "That's cheating!"Pika-Pika staggered to its legs confused about what had happened and why it was all muddy. But not so winded that it couldn't obey its trainer's order of a Thunder Shock, when that was frantically called. Not that Florus was much more than tickled by it.
