With some very rare sweets safely inside his bag, Venom ventures out onto route 32, as the sun disappears from the sky above Johto. Night falls over the route, and its nearly pitch black, but Venom's extended time in the wilderness has made him used to the darkness. With his near night vision guiding him through the darkness and along the route, the ninja continues onward, bound for Azalea Town. Venom is very excited about catching his sixth Pokémon, and battling for his second gym badge, but he suddenly stops walking, as a thought crosses his mind. He thinks back to the battle against the wild Vespiquen from earlier that same day, and thinks about how hard his Venipede fought during that battle, but was unfortunately forced to withdraw. Venom felt so bad for the newest addition to his team, knowing that Venipede really wanted to win that battle, and prove itself to the rest of Team Toxic.
With that in mind, Venom reached into his bag, and pulled out Venipede's Sport Ball, letting the centipede Pokémon out. As soon as he emerged from his orb, Venipede started to look all around, not used to this area or the darkness. "Veni? Venipede?" Fortunately for the Poison/Bug type, Venom was there to give him some direction, kneeling down in front of him. "Hey Venipede, glad to see that you've recovered from your last battle. Im sorry it turned out the way it did though." Hearing his trainer's voice, Venipede manages to fix his gaze on him, but then immediately looks down, feeling ashamed after his battle against Vespiquen. "Pede...Venipede…" Venom then slowly reached a hand out, and gently rubbed the top of Venipede's back, trying to comfort the small Pokémon. "Its okay. Its not your fault. As your trainer, I should've judged the situation better, but its not too late for you Venipede. We're heading for Azalea Town now, and along the way, I think you and I should do some special training. Win or lose, your still a member of Team Toxic, and that means that one day, we'll go to the top together. This is just the beginning for you Venipede. What do you say?"
The purple haired trainer gave his Pokémon a reassuring smile, lowering his arm down for Venipede to climb onto his shoulder. As Venipede looked up at his trainer, and listened to his speech, he began to feel hope in his heart. "Venipede?...Veni!" After taking a moment to process all of this information, Venipede gets a look of renewed confidence in his eyes, and confidently crawls up onto Venom's shoulder, ready for round two. Venom shared in his Pokémon's confidence, and stood back up, giving said Pokémon a nod. "Glad to hear it pal. Just do your best and you'll be fine, I know it. Now lets go find you an opponent." Venom turned, and continued his way down the route, as Venipede nodded to him in return. "Pede. Venipede. Venipede." Whether it was trainer or Pokémon, Venom and Venipede were ready to face it as a team.

As Venom and his Venipede walked down the path to Azalea during a warm spring night and the sounds of nature and wildlife were ever so present, there was quite a bit of rustling going on in a patch of tall grass. To the small poisonous caterpillar-like Pokemon, it would seem that nocturnal Pokemon had come out to play just as the sun had died down. The rustling grew louder as a green arachnid Pokemon came upon the duo with curious eyes. Its round, black eyes with white irises blinked as it gazed over at Venom's Venipede, probably wanting to get rid of the interloper. As usual, the wild Spinarak was making its new home near the patch of grass, and it was planning on spinning it's web there undisturbed. The eight-legged spider Pokemon gave out a loud cry in aggressiveness as it crawled over in front of the Venipede, ready to battle. "Spinarak!" Both trainer and Pokemon were caught in this web of battle, but it might be a great opportunity to test out Venipede's mettle! As the full moon shone over the two Bug-type Pokémon, it had the appearance of a showdown between two warriors with the prowess for poisonous tactics in the dark. A wild Spinarak (Lv 10) has challenged Venipede to a showdown!

The Poison type trainer and his poisonous Pokémon enjoyed the sounds of the wilderness, as they continued their trek down route 32. All the assorted sounds of nature and the Pokémon that lived in it reminded Venom of home, which brought a gentle smile to his face, as he let out a sigh of content. "Venipede?" Venipede turned to his trainer and questioned him, wondering exactly why the simple forest sounds made Venom feel so content and relaxed. "Its a long story Venipede, but I guess we do have time." Venom began telling Venipede his life story, having never done so before, hoping that it would inspire Venipede when his next opponent finally revealed itself to them. The centipede Pokémon listened to his trainer's amazing stories with great interest, almost not believing that Venom had been through so much in his life. Hearing all of it made Venipede wonder if he too could have such amazing stories to tell himself one day, but just as Venom hoped, it also made Venipede want to try harder, and measure up to his venomous master.
Unfortunately, Venom's stories were cut short, as his highly tuned ears picked up the sound of rustling from the nearby tall grass. Venom got on guard right away, and Venipede followed his lead, as they waited for their foe to emerge from the darkness of the night. As soon as the wild Spinarak came into view, Venom went right into fanboy mode, running over to the small spider Pokémon as fast as he could, kneeling down to it, and looking at it with sparkles in his eyes. "A Spinarak! Another Poison type! Hello there, Im Venom! Its very nice to meet you!" As this went on, Venipede was surprised at first, but then remembered the day he and Venom first met. Venom had a very similar reaction to Venipede back then as well. Venipede decided to intervene, tapping the side of Venom's head with his own head, trying to snap his trainer out of it. "Veni! Venipede!"
Thankfully, this works, and Venom snaps out of his poison filled world, shaking his head from side to side for a moment. "Right! Sorry Venipede. I just cant help myself sometimes." The ninja nervously scratches the back of his head, letting out some light laughter. It was very true that he had a weakness for any and all Poison type Pokémon, and he knew that both Koga and Janine had some amazing Ariados' of their own, but Venom was forced to resist the urge to capture this wild Spinarak. With the thought of different Poison type on his mind, Venom decides to forego capturing this one. Even so, this Spinarak was good for another thing, as Venom lowered his arm for Venipede to get off. "This is your chance Venipede. Lets show this Spinarak what your made of."
Venipede was still rather nervous, but as he looked down at the fellow Poison/Bug type and listened to Venom's words, Venipede began to muster his courage. After taking a quick inhale and exhale, Venipede crawled off Venom's shoulder and down his arm, facing Spinarak at eye level. "Pede! Venipede! Venipede!" Venipede looked just as ready as he did during his confrontation with Vespiquen, but this time, he intended to make this battle end very differently. Venom smiled down at his small friend, happy to see this renewed confidence, as he stood back on his feet, getting himself ready for battle too. "That's the spirit Venipede. We'll get you your first victory this time for sure. Lets start this battle off with your Pursuit attack, then follow it up with Rollout!" Venom knew that Poison Tail wouldn't be much good against another Poison type, so he had to give Venipede's other moves a try and hoped they worked.

Spinarak just wanted to make its web in peace, was that too much to ask? Why did these trainers want to travel at night anyway? Didn't they sleep when the great round orb was in the sky? No, not the one it loved, the other one. That bright mess that hurt its eyes. That was the time it wanted to sleep. But it hoped this human and his Pokemon knew they were wasting its valuable time by making it chase them off like this! Spinarak chattered in warning when the trainer spoke to it, mandibles clacking together to let him know it wasn't in the mood for a casual chat.
Starting off with a Pursuit, Venipede wasn't done as he slammed into the other Poison type.
It spat a load of silk onto both the Pokemon and trainer, hissing as it continued to make a tiny clicking noise, knowing it was in trouble now.
Eager to get some stories of his own, Venipede reacted quickly as the order for a Rollout was called out, and the Pokemon curled itself into a ball and rolled forward at a quickened pace, giving the spider no time to move out of the way as it was barreled into and sent flying. The Spinarak landed with a thud, defeated, and a few of its friends crawled downwards and hissed at the duo, dragging their friend off on a cot of silk.

Admittedly, Venom wasn't particularly thrilled about bothering a wild Spinarak trying to build its web, but there didn't seem to be any other trainers out at this time of night, and Venom and his Pokémon weren't going to get stronger without battling. After all, Venom had big plans for Team Toxic. He planned on challenging the Elite 4 one day, and since he was trained by one of them, he knew better then anyone that they were way out of his league at this time. With the image of one day battling them in his head, Venom watched at Venipede carried out his orders, and won the battle at hand. Despite their displeasure with him and Venipede, Venom still waved to the group of wild spider Pokémon as they carried their injured friend off to another part of the route. "Goodbye. Sorry we troubled you. We didn't mean to."
Once they were out of sight, Venom turned his attention back to Venipede, and knelt down beside him. "You did very well on your first battle Venipede. Im proud of you." The ninja smiled at his centipede Pokémon friend, hoping he'd feel a little better about himself now. True, Venom was a little disappointed that Venipede didn't gain any experience from that battle, but that just meant that they had to keep moving and find an area with stronger Pokémon for them to battle. Venipede turned to his trainer, and gave him a happy look, starting to gain some confidence. "Venipede. Veni." The small Poison/Bug type crawled up Venom's arm again, making himself comfortable on his trainer's shoulder like before.
Venom got back to his feet after that, then turned back down route 32, and kept moving. "That was good Venipede, but if your ever going to gain experience and evolve, then we'll need to find you some stronger opponents to battle. I know it might not be ideal, but I think we'll have better luck in Union Cave." The Poison type trainer knew that there were a lot of wild Rock type Pokémon in the Union Cave, but as the saying went. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Since he wasn't really from the area, Venipede wasn't aware of this himself, but that didn't matter to him right now. Having just won his first battle, Venipede was already eager for another one, and would happily follow his trainer anywhere. "Pede! Venipede!"
Venom was pleased to see Venipede so eager to battle again, but he stopped as soon as they reached the entrance to the cave. Not because he was having second thoughts, but because Venom had just remembered something. "Oh, wait. Before we go any further, I think now is as good a time as any. Ivysaur!" Venom grabbed Ivysaur's Poke Ball, and let the seed Pokémon out of it. It had been a while since Ivysaur had been outside, so he stretched out his body, adjusting himself to the outside world. "Ivy...Ivysaur?" Ivysaur looked up at his trainer, wondering why he'd been called out at such a late hour. Venom once again went digging through his bag, looking very excited for some reason. "Ive got a surprise for you Ivysaur. I went through a lot to get it, but it was worth it. I know it'll be perfect for you."
This only made Ivysaur's curiosity grow, as he watched his trainer pull a purple colored disk looking object from his bag. Ivysaur had seen something like this before, back when he learned how to use Flash, so he knew what this meant. "Ivysaur? Ivy?" The purple haired trainer nodded, holding the disk down to his partner. "That's right. This is a TM, but not just any TM. This is TM 36. It contains the move Sludge Bomb. A very powerful Poison type move, and I want you to have it Ivysaur. You are the only member of Team Toxic who doesn't actually know any Poison type attacks." That fact would change very soon though, as Ivysaur smiled at his trainer, then happily took the TM from him. "Ivysaur! Saur!" Without a second thought, Ivysaur swallowed the TM in one bite, and the move contained within became his in seconds.
With that matter taken care of, Venom recalled Ivysaur back to his Poke Ball, then put it away for the time being. "Well, that's done. Thankfully, we shouldn't need Ivysaur's Flash inside Union Cave, but it will still be dark, so stay on my shoulder Venipede." Venom gave his poisonous friend a reminder, to which Venipede gave him a nod of confirmation. "Venipede." After that, Venom turned once more, and walked into Union Cave. Being that it was night time, it was very dark inside the cave, but just like on route 32, that didn't stop Venom from moving forward. As the Poison type trainer walked carefully through the cave, he was reminded of his radio interview not too long ago, particularly his challenge to the trainer everyone knew as Silver. Venom began to wonder if this Silver heard his message to him over the radio or not, and if he was waiting for him inside the cave, since Venom didn't see any sign of him on route 32. Regardless, that didn't matter to Venom, as he continued to make his way through Union Cave with Venipede clinging to his shoulder, looking for any wild Pokémon or trainers to face in battle and hopefully raise Venipede's level of confidence even higher.
OOC: TM36 Sludge Bomb was used on Ivysaur, and Id like to get rid of his Leech Seed to make room for it. Thanks.

Union Cave was far from dark, but the first thing one noticed was the sound of water. The warmer weather of spring had brought an excess of water with it. It was pouring in through the cave entrance or running with the underground rivers who swelled up and splattered usual drier ground. Walking in here produced no echoes, but the faint sound of splashing followed every step. Dark patches of puddles in varying sizes covered the path through. The cave seemed surprisingly stark of life. All the ground bound Pokemon had sought shelter from the flood and disappeared out of trainers' sight. The only sign of movement that wasn't the water itself hung from the ceiling in clusters. These clusters were starting to break up with the arrival of night, and squeaking from the winged beasts competed for a while with the sound of rushing water. Zubats were on their way out for dinner. A single one of them fell out of the Zubat cloud and performed an acrobatic salto in the air before almost dropping to the floor in front of Venom's feet. In the last moment it pulled up again, sending out its sound waves for navigation, and then seemed to pause in midair. It did a backwards salto, and then flapped around Venom almost like it was curious. It didn't seem inclined to leave him alone. Wild encounter Weather: flooding (water sport)

The sounds of water, followed by stepping in a small puddle as he walked through the cave, were a little surprising to Venom. The caves back home in Kanto didn't have nearly as much water inside of them, if any at all. Still, a little water never hurt anyone, nor did it slow Venom's progress. The water was a good sign for Venom and Venipede though, as the trainer knew that it would make all the Rock type Pokémon in the cave seek cover, making it less likely for the venomous duo to cross paths with one. This would make things easier for Venipede to win his next battle. At least, that was Venom's hope.
As soon as he heard all the movement on the ceiling of the cave, Venom came to a stop, and he and Venipede looked up, seeing all the wild Zubat flying around the cave on their nightly rounds. Ordinarily, Venom would be very excited to see more Poison types, but being that he's already captured a Zubat of his own, and evolved it into Golbat, these Poison types just didn't excite him like they used to. Even so, the ninja was unable to move on, as he stood still when the lone Zubat came down to investigate him and his Venipede. Venom took a moment to admire the bat Pokémon's impressive aerial acrobatics, then started to wonder if this Zubat would make a good opponent for Venipede. A Flying type like Zubat wasn't exactly a great match up for a Bug type like Venipede, but on the other hand, Venipede's Rollout attack might be just what they'd need to score another victory. This Zubat didn't seem all that aggressive, and just like with the wild Spinarak from route 32, Venom wasn't too happy about having to fight against an innocent wild Poison type Pokémon, so he took a moment to consider his options carefully.
It took the Poison type trainer about 30 seconds to reach a decision, as he let out a small sigh. "Oh well. I suppose its better then a Geodude or Onix. Venipede, its time for round two. Your opponent will be this Zubat." Venom said to his friend, turning his head to look at him as he spoke. "Venipede. Venipede." The centipede Pokémon gave his trainer a nod, then crawled down his shoulder and onto the damp ground, looking up at his winged foe. "Im sorry about this Zubat. You seem like a nice Pokémon, but a trainer's gotta do what a trainer's gotta do. Use your Rollout attack Venipede! Use one of the rocks in this cave to give yourself some air!" Venom turned back to the wild Zubat, pointed it out for Venipede, and gave the small Poison/Bug type his first order. "Pede! Veni!" Venipede knew what his trainer meant, rolled himself into a ball, and started rolling as fast as he could, heading for a decent sized, nearby rock. Venipede rolled right off the rock once he reached it, using it like a ramp, then rolled through the air, heading for the air born bat Pokémon.

The zubat didn't really seem surprised at Venom's decision, although it made a little start when Venom even apologized to it for that. It made a little nod to show it accepted and then turned 360º around itself slowly while emitting a high pitch scream to get a good view on its surroundings. When Venipede got got down on the ground and had rolled himself into a ball, the zubat was ready and it kept its opponent in "sight". Venipede was quickly gaining speed as the rolling movement seemed to push him forward even more, and he had a great aiming when he found a useful stone and send himself flying through the air directly towards the zubat. The zubat was not without training itself though and flying blindly in a cave among hundreds of other blind flying creatures gave quick reflexes, and as Venipede came flying it simply made a forward salto over the rolling bug type. Venipede continued his flight which quickly ended in a pool of water which had gathered from outside, and sent water splashing everywhere. It did not at all stop Venipede's rolling and since zubat was still rather close to the ground it got covered in water as well, while Venipede turned around to forced his way back through the water. Where the water was nothing more of a nuisance to everyone getting wet it had the side effect that it obscured the zubat's view of Venipede as it couldn't distinguish what was water and what was opponent! There was too much that moved and sent it's soundwaves bouncing back and it flew upwards carefully as even though it remembered how the cave looked, it couldn't be certain that the water didn't hide a protruding rock which it could fly into. It was impossible for the zubat to avoid Venipede as he came towards it again as it couldn't see him coming, and it got sent whirling through the air as Venipede scored a direct hit. Venipede got an easier landing this time but had too much speed to be able to stop, if he had wanted. He had got close to the walls of the cave and he raced up along side it and it sent him outward flying into the air once more as it too acted like a ramp. Now there were no water left in the air and Venipede became a very clear target to the zubat, who speed upwards towards him and it looked like they would clash midair. In the last second the zubat turned ever so slightly and made a rolling movement with both its wings, slamming them down on top of the Venipede and sent him crashing straight down into the cave floor several meters below. Venipede bounced uncontrollably on unable to stop but having to fight to regain control of the direction again. Zubat once more kept a close "eye" on where he went, waiting for the right time. Venom gave the Zubat a smile, seeing that it had accepted his apology, and was ready for the battle to begin. As the battle unfolded right before Venom's eyes, he once again admired Zubat's impressive acrobatic skills, but also Venipede's speed, maneuverability, and ingenuity in this unfamiliar cave environment. Ordinarily, wild Venipede didn't live around this much rocks or water, but Venom's friend was using both of these things like a natural. Even so, despite the centipede Pokémon's impressive display, this was still Zubat's home, and the bat Pokémon really knew what it was doing. As soon as Zubat's wing struck Venipede, sending him straight down to the ground, Venom's smile vanished, as he watched Venipede try to regain control over himself. "Hang tough Venipede! You can do this!" The Poison type trainer called out to his Pokémon, refusing to give up hope for him.
Before the second round could begin, Venom needed to take a moment to consider his options and come up with a plan of what their next move should be. Based on the damage both Poison types had taken, Venom didn't think that Venipede would be able to handle another Wing Attack, but on the other hand, Zubat seemed to have a bit more stamina left inside then Venipede did. However, Venipede was still rolling, and Venom knew that Rollout got more powerful each time it hit, but it also became less accurate. The ninja wondered if a second direct hit would be enough to take Zubat down, but he knew what would happen if it wasn't. This decision started to make Venom sweat a little out of nervousness, as he played out the second round of this battle at least a dozen times in his head before finally making his choice, and hoped that it was the right one. "I believe in you Venipede! I know you have what it takes to become a powerful Scolipede one day! Use the momentum from Zubat's strike, and use Rollout again!" It was true, Zubat's Wing Attack did indeed cause Venipede to roll at a much faster pace, as Venipede quickly gain control over his new speed and power, then headed for another rocky ramp. "Venipede! Veni!"

As the Zubat would come flying down to beat the opposition, Venipede would use this opportunity to quickly hop on the Zubat's back and hop again into the air. With the sounds of flooding water coming in like a dam had broken, Venom's own words of encouragement towards his Venipede was enough for Venipede to use its body to curl up into a ball and use the cave walls to bounce right back at the Zubat. The blue bat Pokemon was knocked out of the air as it collided with the grey cave walls with a groan of pain. At the very least, the Zubat itself seemed to understand that it was a training dummy in a sense. Zubat would quickly get off the cave wall, and tried to use its senses to find where the Venipede was. Once it heard the sounds of Venipede on the cave floor, the wild Zubat swooped in to bite down on the red caterpillar-like Pokemon. Venom was once again pleased with the battle he was witnessing, even if Venipede's second Rollout wasn't quite enough to finish the job. At first, Venom was worried, believing that after Zubat got back up after being struck with Venipede's second consecutive Rollout, the bat Pokémon would use its Wing Attack and finish Venipede off. Venom's concerns were replaced with confusion, as he witnessed Zubat's fangs sink into Venipede's back. Why the wild Zubat had chosen to go with its Bite attack, the ninja couldn't say. Perhaps Zubat had realized that this battle was purely for training and raising Venipede's level of confidence, and the Poison/Flying type wanted to help them for what ever reason. Regardless, this gave the Poison type duo the opportunity they needed to end this battle in Venipede's victory.
"Venipede, this is your chance! We can finish this now! Just hang tough, don't lose focus, and give Zubat one more Rollout attack!" Venom cheered his little friend on, giving him his orders for this round. Not that it mattered of course, since Rollout was the only move Venipede could use, for the moment at least. Venom just hoped that it didn't miss, because he doubted a wild Zubat, or any wild Pokémon for that matter, would give them a lucky break twice in a row. Unlike his trainer, Venipede was still a bit on the young and inexperienced side, so he didn't notice that Zubat had gone easy on him in the previous round. As a result, the centipede Pokémon's confidence was still burning brightly, as he rolled himself into a ball one more time, and narrowed his gaze at his opponent through all the spinning. "Pede! Pede! Pede!" Like a miniature stampede, Venipede charged straight for the wild Zubat, using another rock to launch himself into the air, and finish this battle once and for all.

The zubat shook its head and carefully opened and closed its mouth a few times. It had hurt to bit down on something so hard as Venipede's shell and especially when he had been rolling with so much force, but the zubat hadn't broken any teeth luckily, it was just sore. It felt exhausted and battered though and the gracefulness it had moved with when they had encountered it, was gone. As Venominon called his encouraging to his venipede the zubat looked towards him and and has a wistfully expression, it didn't sound like it had managed to impress him, but the zubat thought he would have been a good trainer to join. It accepted that it was not meant to be and sent out its soundwaves to pint point the now flying venipede. A few heartbeat was spent on calculating Venipede's direction of flight and then it turned its body slightly so it didn't got hit straight on. Zubat knew it couldn't dodge the attack this time, its wings where too sore to carry it quick enough, but it could still make sure it wasn't landing directly on the floor below, a vulnerable target for passerbys. Zubat got the air knocked out of it as Venipede sent it flying through the air, and it barely managed to keep itself airborne as it disappeared into the darkness. Venipede continued his rolling, rushing through more water until he crashed into the wall and got wedged between the rocks. He was victorious! But he might need a bit of help getting loose. Venipede knocked out the zubat and gain 1 level, growing to lvl 21. He gains +1 happiness as well.

Before Venipede's final attack had made contact, Venom noticed how the wild Zubat was looking at him, and it made the ninja let out a sigh. "What a shame. If I didn't already have a Golbat, I would've loved to have you on Team Toxic. Oh well. You should still find yourself a good trainer one day. Thank you for such a good show, and an even better battle." After that, Venom bowed to the Zubat, as Venipede's final Rollout made contact about five seconds later. Venom hoped the wild Zubat would be okay, then watched as Venipede lost control, and got stuck in the cave's wall. Unable to unroll or free himself, Venipede called out to his trainer for help. "Veni! Venipede! Pede!"
"Yes, I know Venipede. Just hold still, and Ill have you out of there swiftly." Venom said to his poisonous friend, then walked over to the spot where the centipede Pokémon had gotten himself trapped. With Venipede still in a ball form, Venom grabbed the Poison/Bug type with both hands, then proceeded to pull with all his strength. Thankfully, with how soaked Venipede was from the water in the cave, it didn't take much force to pull him free. With one good pull, Venipede was freed, and Venom stumbled backwards a little, as Venipede unrolled himself in his trainer's hands when Venom had stopped moving. Venipede then turned to look at Venom, and the two smiled at each other.
"You've gotten stronger. Im very proud of you Venipede. Just a little more experience and you should evolve." The Poison type trainer spoke to Venipede, as he gently placed him on his left shoulder. "Pede. Veni. Venipede. Veni." Compared to how he was when they first started his special training, Venipede was looking much happier, and much more confident at this moment. This, of course, made Venom happy, and while it wasn't intentional, all of Venipede's rolling around had revealed the exit to the Union Cave to the two of them. The moonlight shone from the cave's exit, and Venom was quickly to walk towards it. "Our night isn't over just yet Venipede. There's still one more thing we need to do. Make ourselves a new friend." Venom knew that the next Poison type Pokémon he was looking for could be found on route 33, which just so happen to be where the Union Cave let out. "Venipede! Venipede!" Venipede cheered happily, excited to make another new friend. Venom shared this excitement, as he reached the exit, and took his first step out onto route 33, eager to capture yet another poisonous Pokémon for Team Toxic.
