She didn't think that she would be going back to Route 29 after going all that way to Violet City, but she did have to train her Wingull if she was going to beat Falkner and claim the badge herself. As Skadi made her comfy perch near her trainer's shoulder, she began preening her feathers for stray dirt that might've stuck to her wings. Amaryllis certainly could do with training the rest of her team on the route that many new trainers started on. Perhaps there were many more Pokemon that she hadn't gotten to see on this route, plus it might be good to gather new pokedex entries for the good professor as well.[break][break]
With Nimbus being bought from another trainer, the female trainer figured that it would take some time for the Swablu to get used to her presence, especially since she had been previously owned by another trainer before that trainer had bought the bird from them. From her travels across the Hoenn region, she was very fortunate to have an adorable blue bird with clouds for wings on her side. It also marked the second Flying type Pokemon that she owned from her home region as there were still some more bird Pokemon to acquire.[break][break]
Perhaps Winona might acknowledge her talents as a Flying type specialist if Amy evolved Nimbus into the graceful Altaria. She wouldn't mind being her apprentice at the gym though she was quite a ways away from Hoenn at that point. Thankfully, she had quite a bit of time to train her team before the upcoming gym match and a few other side things she had to do while on her travels. The girl pressed on, feeling the breeze blow through the air as she would hum along to a tune she was familiar with as a child. A song that her mother had sung to her when she was but a little girl inside a large estate in Rustboro when she couldn't sleep by herself in the dark.

Weather: Flooding
While it wasn't raining at the moment it had been recently. Raining a LOT in fact. The road was clear for the most part but only because of all the traffic on it that had cleared debris aside as they went. The area where Amy found herself now had large puddles and quick moving streams on either side of the road.
From one of the larger puddles, which it had fallen into only a few moments ago, a pokemon arose shaking itself. Spinda didn't like being wet but it had tripped and found itself in the water so there was no help for it. Wiping the water from its eyes the spot panda turned its attention to a nearby sound....the sound of a girl humming. Well, there was something it could take its frustrations out on!

Skadi squawked at a Pokemon who had tripped onto a puddle, clearly she wasn't amused by the fact that it had been there just to take her own trainer's attention away from her. When she looked down, that Pokemon turned out to be a wild Spinda that probably just happened to be attracted to the sound of her own humming. However her Wingull's strength was not strong enough to deal with that Spinda, so she would have to send in a much stronger Pokemon on her team. "If you wish to have a challenge then I might have someone for you to play with."[break][break]
She would send out her Wingull first and then made a switch. As she returned Skadi back into her Pokeball, then she tossed Mamotte's Pokeball, the red beam of light formed the shape of a bird with a musical note on the top of its head. Mamotte stretched his wings as he would look curiously over at the spotted panda Pokemon. "Mamotte, let us start with Peck." The girl ordered as the brightly colored bird flapped his wings and took to the air before dive bombing towards the Spinda in question. As the spectator, Skadi wouldn't like the fact that she would have to sit out this round, but she did want her to get a fighting chance.[break][break]
One could say that Amaryllis knew the risks she would have to take if she had to train her Wingull, so using a much stronger Pokemon could help cover for the weaker Pokemon she intended to train herself. At least, her Chatot seemed to sound pretty happy with battling a Pokemon as he had been owned previously by another trainer and had to get used to her presence. If she wanted to beat Falkner however, she really needed to get her weaker Pokemon in shape somehow.

That didn't help its mood one bit. The dancing bear clapped its hands and got ready to copy anything the teeny seagull would throw at it, positioned not unlike a football player ready to hold the line. To the spinda's furthered annoyance however, the trainer called for her striped bird to fall back and instead sent out another feathered fiend; one much more colorful than the last. The wild pokémon fumed. Throwing its hands in the air and turning its back as if copying the withdrawal ordered by Amaryllis before whirling back around to face the song bird now. Mamotte wasn't having any of this though, taking to the air and delivering a peck right on the wild bear's forehead. Spinda yelped at the poke and pursed its lips, watching Mamotte circle back. The bear followed the bird's movements and, once possible, jumped into the air to return the chatot's peck in a surprising fashion. Who would've thought a dizzy teddy bear could peck! Interesting. Spinda had made the use of the Copycat move to copy Mamotte's Peck as the bear began to make the same motion on Mamotte, causing the Chatot to squawk and shoot it with an annoyed glance. As the Chatot had successfully kept himself in the air, he was confident that he could win against this dizzy teddy bear. "Mamotte, retaliate back with Peck!" Flapping his wings, the striped bird proceeded to encircle around the dizzy Spinda for a moment before diving at the bear Pokemon with a fierce gaze. As annoyed as he was, Mamotte wanted to show how it's done with his own strength.[break][break]
Her last stay at this route had her encounter pretty common Pokemon noted to be good for beginner trainers, but Spinda seemed to be quite the rare sight. While it was fairly common at the route it was seen in Hoenn, Spinda in the Johto region were just seldom seen. Seeing the erratic movements of the wild Spinda due to its dizziness had made Mamotte himself quite annoyed, he was sure that it could try to use its movements to trick him somehow. She did notice that the wild Pokemon was fuming, it probably expected to make short work of a much weaker Wingull, only to be greeted by a stronger Chatot.[break][break]
She would have to make note of the wild Spinda's use of the Copycat move as it could potentially have a more devastating use if it managed to copy a strong move. She would probably have to apologize to Skadi later for not having her battle against a Spinda as she wanted to keep her out of harm's way. Using the switch tactic was the most effective way to bait a wild Pokemon into attacking in which she was certain that Mamotte could handle himself against the dizzy teddy bear. Perhaps training on this route really brought some wild Pokemon with interesting personalities out into the fold, not to mention that Spinda was one of many Pokemon that she had been familiar with back home.

Mamotte flew overhead and made another expertly targeted peck attack on Spinda's back. The bear in turn would lunge at a surprising angle from its native dizzy dance and once again copy the chatot's attack. However, it was clear that the real beak was outclassing the improvisation Spinda was using.

She wondered if the spotted teddy bear really had no real strategy than to copy the attack of her Chatot during battle. Noticing that the Spinda itself was sweating profusely and breathing in a way that would let Mamotte know that he was almost winning against the Spinda, the striped bird squawked as the Spinda copied his attack and was losing his balance in the air. Making a safe landing using his feet, the bird narrowed his eyes at the wild Spinda, not that he was going to take his chances with the bear's Peck attack only being outclassed by the real deal.[break][break]
Taking to the air again, Mamotte was surely confident that the Spinda itself couldn't fly and can't catch up to him no matter what it would try to do. He would assume that the Spinda itself would try a last ditch attempt to ensure that the Chatot wasn't going to get his victory though he was being cautious of his foe. "Mamotte, strike back with Peck!" As soon as Amaryllis' order reached the parrot-like Pokemon, the bird swooped down at the Spinda from a good angle where he would be able to strike. His beak poised to finish the battle, staying in the air while his opponent was grounded was the one advantage over land-based Pokemon.[break][break]
Mamotte did not stay in a straight line as he had taken to using graceful somersaults in the air, possibly to confuse the Spinda and make himself into an elegant battler. As annoyed as he was to the Pokemon that tried to emulate his moves, he couldn't help but feel bad for the Spinda and interrupting whatever it was doing before they stumbled across it. Maybe fate would have it that she would be able to see a familiar Pokemon that reminded her of home as she had seen wild Spinda making their homes near the ash-filled route reaching Fallharbor Town. [break][break]
Seeing this Pokemon making its home in the Johto region was interesting, not to mention that she had been contacting her parents to let them know she was okay. She had not seen her beloved pet for some time now as she would've assumed he was there inside the estate, waiting for her to come home.

Another round and another time for pecking on each other. The spinda did not feel well at all and its movement became even more erratic than usual, and it didn't help on its mood either. There was little it could do against the nimbly bird and when it once more got a hard peck in the back of its head, it completely lost balance. It stumbled and stumbled and stumbled! It was completely impossible for it to regain its balance and return the attack, and it splashed through one of the temporary creeks sideways and disappeared into a bush. Mamoette had proved she was far superior when it came to pecking!  Mamoette gains +1 level and grows to level 14!  Skadi also gains a level from watching and is level 2! (ooc: Do you update it yourself, or should I ask to get it done?  ) |

The final round consisted of the two pecking each other as Mamotte proved victorious against the wild Spinda. At least, Skadi would have a bit of a fighting chance against the wild Pokemon on this route though she wasn't sure if she could leave Skadi herself to be picked on by much stronger Pokemon. The switch and bait trick seemed to do wonders if her Wingull was unable to best a stronger opponent by herself, so Amaryllis began returning Mamotte back inside his Pokeball and let Skadi out of hers. The seagull Pokemon didn't appreciate being left out of the fight, but stretched her wings as she would sit near her trainer's shoulder.[break][break]
The Murkrow egg that had been tucked safely inside her bag began to move a bit as if the unborn Pokemon inside was letting her know that it was about to hatch soon. "It looks like it's going to hatch soon. Isn't it exciting, Skadi?" She would ask the seagull Pokemon though Skadi huffed in annoyance as she turned her head away. Her apparent jealousy at dealing with another baby Pokemon was clear on her face, she didn't want to bear with trying to watch over another Pokemon that needed a bit of help with getting stronger either. [break][break]
Amaryllis chuckled a bit as she gave the Wingull a pat on the head. "Don't be like that, we need to make sure that you all are ready for the upcoming gym match with the Violet City gym leader." She understood that Skadi didn't like any of her other Pokemon around her, but she did want to spend a little more time bonding with her other bird Pokemon as much as possible. The female trainer continued on her way as Skadi yawned before her eyes blinked at the grass swaying with a gentle breeze. [break][break]
Clear, deep puddles of water were present somewhat, maybe a Pokemon managed to use a move that one would consider to be the cause of the those puddles. Being a water type Pokemon meant that Skadi could use that opportunity to play around the puddle of water a little without making herself look dirty. It did look like the clear puddles of water were clean enough to play around, so Skadi herself would glide down to a nearby puddle and start splashing around, crying in obvious joy.

"Shh!" Someone whispered in the tall grass near Skadi and something shuffled around, making the grass shake a bit. Neither Skadi nor Amaryllis could see what was hiding there although there was no doubt there was something. A little bit of more shuffling and then a net swished through the air and caught Skadi. "I got it!" A Kid shouted as she sprung up from the grass where he had hid and still held the other then of the shaft to the net. His grin quickly disappeared when he saw what it was he had caught. "You are not a wurmple," he complained and released the wingull, "and here I thought I found a shiny on and all."When he noticed Amaryllis and realized Skadi was her pokemon he fidgeted embarrassed. "I'm Don, I'm a bug catcher," he declared like that explained everything and excused what he had done. He hesitated and looked unsure of what to do. "I challenge you to a battle," he stated although it sounded more like a question. The moment he said it a weedle hurried out from the grass and skidded to a halt in front of the boy, ready to fight.   Bug Catcher Don is disappointed Skadi isn't a bug He challenges Amaryllis to forget it and sends out Weedle (lvl 3).

A swishing sound was heard as Skadi was caught in the net of a bug catcher while she was flailing around and trying to protest her way out. Hearing the noise, Amaryllis came face to face with a Bug Catcher who must've thought Skadi was a shiny Wurmple that he had been hunting down. "Goodness, if you mistook a Wingull for a shiny Wurmple, perhaps you might need a pair of glasses for your trouble." The bug catcher introduced himself as Don and as usual with all Pokemon Trainers that stopped by, he challenged her to a battle and sent out his Weedle. Skadi's own pride was inflated as she seemed to sneer at the tiny bug type Pokemon, not including that she was small herself. "If we are going with introductions before battle then I'll give you my name in return, Don. My name is Amaryllis, or Amy for short. I suppose I am aiming to become a Flying type specialist myself." Meanwhile, her Wingull was all too eager to take her annoyance onto the Weedle.[break][break]
"I'll take the first move, so let us start with a Gust attack, Skadi!" With a loud squawk, the seagull Pokemon took to the air with a graceful glide. Flapping her wings, Skadi proceeded to whip up a gust of wind heading directly towards the Weedle. It was clear that the Wingull was going to enjoy having to battle without any sort of help from other Pokemon even if she was quite a newbie to the battling scene.

Don's face reddened when Amaryllis commented that he needed glasses to see better, it was hard to say how much was from being ashamed and how much that was anger, he glared at her nonetheless. "Well... you need to keep an eye on your pokemon, so they don't get mistaken for wild ones!" Don attempted to give a snarky answer. He folded his arms over his chest and pouted. He visible paled when Amy told she was aiming to become a flying type specialist and he gulped nervously, knwoling well that he might had bit in more than he could chew. "Hu-hurry Whisper! G-go and use Poison Sting!" Don exclaimed and sounded almost scared. His weedle on the other hand took it all with stoick calmness and first dug its small stubby legs into the ground to withstand the heavy gust Skadi sent at it, and then took aim to shoot several thin poison covered needles at the water bird. Inexperienced as she was they all hit their mark and while the needles didn't hurt much and she was quick to pluck them out of her skin again, she felt kind of strange afterwards, and a bit queasy. Skadi squawked as she was given the stinging pain from Whisper's Poison Sting attack, but Amaryllis didn't expect for the worst. Her Wingull didn't feel too well as she felt queasy mid-flight. Despite her condition, the seagull Pokemon was willing to finish this battle just for the sake of getting stronger on her own. "You seem to look scared, did I strike a nerve?" It was possible that Don was afraid of biting more than he could chew with the type disadvantage he had with his Bug type Pokemon. Birds seemed to be the natural predator to bugs, so it seemed fitting that bug catchers would fear flying type Pokemon or even Fire type Pokemon. [break][break]
Not that she would focus on the fear that the bug catcher felt, but the entire battle itself. "Skadi, retaliate back with Gust!" Once more, the annoyed bird flapped her wings and sent another whirling twister towards the Weedle's direction. The little seagull Pokemon was just as determined to not let the Weedle win no matter what. She did not want Whisper to one up her chance at proving herself to be a better bird than a very weak bug, so she squawked at the tiny Weedle. [break][break]
If this was one of those shows where the superhero tries to win over the villain then Skadi could definitely see herself as a hero fighting against the villainous bugs attempting to take over the world. Her dislike of bug type Pokemon probably stemmed from being poisoned the moment that the stinger had connected to her feathery flesh.

Don pouted when Amaryllis pointed out he looked scared. "I'm not scared of anything!" He declared stubbornly as he raised his chin. "Just control your pokemon, so they don't eat mine!" He added in an attempt to give back. It was a thing he had been teased with a lot from the other kids in the area, that their birds would eat his worms for an afternoon snack. Don's father had said such thing would be the bird trainer's problem as it showed they couldn't not control their pokemon. "DUCK!" Don screamed as Skadi sent another gust of wind towards the yellow worm, Whisper leaped out of the way and only the grass got battered. Don frowned and you could almost hear the gears work inside his brain. "Should we try to poison it, or do we need to slow it down?" He mumbled, he had clearly not noticed that Skadi was already affected. The wingfull felt the affect of the poison once more and failed to stay airborne as she felt dizzy. She was a young one and this must be all knew to her. She plopped down and by pure luck landed on top of the weedle, now it was easy for her to pin it down and give the Gust another go. Whisper did what he could to wiggle away and it looked like he almost succeeded but then he had to give up. Don quickly recalled his weedle in the fear of Skadi wanting to take a bit. "Careless? Where are you? I need your help," Don called out and a caterpie soon emerged from the tall grass. It took a protective stance in front of Don. Skadi wins her first battle all by herself! She gains 3 lvls and becomes lvl 5! She can learn Supersonic if she forgets another move.

Once that pesky Weedle had been beaten, Don sent out his Caterpie and he admitted that he wasn't scared of her flying type Pokemon despite having a clear disadvantage. Since Skadi herself was still poisoned, should Amy have to risk it and use a Full Heal to heal her Wingull's poison and get her back to full health? Skadi had struggled to stay in the air due to being poisoned earlier by Whisper, so she procured a Full Heal and sprayed it on Skadi who chirped with joy. Once she tossed the bottle aside, the seagull Pokemon was more happier with her trainer trying to nurse her back to health. [Break][break]
"Okay, let's show Don's Caterpie what we're made of. Gust attack now!" Skadi's expression turned into a serious one as she flapped her wings to create a gust of wind heading towards the small green caterpillar Pokemon. Maybe Don was a sign that she was being tested on whether she was ready to beat Falkner yet as the Violet City gym leader was tough without a bit of strategy to go for.
