As Rowan briskly strided out of his house, he bade a quick farewell to his mother. It was the early morning; the sun was barely peeking over the horizon, turning the water a soft pink hue. He walked over to professor Elm's Pokemon lab, as he had called for him earlier. As he walked in, professor Elm didn't seem to notice him until he was right behind him.
"You startled me," he commented with a huff. Rowan chuckled to himself silently.
"Sorry. Anyway, why did you call me over here?
Professor Elm's eyes lit up. Oh, yeah! I have a friend called Mr. Pokemon. He has discovered something over at his house, and I want you to go and check it out. I can't go, of course, because I have research to attend to here at the lab. Can I count on you to do that?"
"Yeah, sure," Rowan says casually.
Professor Elm beamed. "Great! I'll give you a pokemon to make the journey easier."
Rowan's eyes went wide. A pokemon? For him? He couldn't understand, but he wasn't about to say no. He stepped up to see the 3 pokemon Professor Elm offered. For some strange reason, the normal Johto starters weren't available, so in their stead were the Kanto ones, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Rowan was pleasantly surprised. "Nice! I'll choose Bulbasaur." Bulbasaur cooed happily as Rowan picked her up. "Nice to meet you! I'm gonna name you... Kiki! We're going to do great things together, huh?"

It was certainly early morning and as the sun began to rise, mist rose from the forest as well and while the sky was clear with a pink hue, everything was covered in grey when Rowan stepped out from the lab again. The outline of the sun could be seen through the white mist, but most of the house were fuzzy and the trees which surrounded the town was out of sight. Instead it was a white misty wall which met him and Kiki. Of course it was not a real wall and as they moved out the trees would become visible one by one, and disappear in the whiteness behind them, the grass would be wet as if it had rained. Urgent chirping could be heard and it would take a bit for them to pinpoint it as the fog made it harder to guess the direction. As they moved closer they would see a lot of figures flapping around, until a loud warning call would be chirped and all the pidgeys flapped hard, sending sand and dust raining down on the trainer and his bulbasaur before they darted off. A plastic bottle would make a crunching sound under Rowans food, and Kiki would step in something slimy which turned out to be leftover ketchup on a paper plate. A closer look would reveal someone had had a picknic and apparently didn't want to clean up after themselves. Something had stayed back though, a single pidgey shot them a glance and then vigorously pulled in something, a loud pop and a red fish pulled itself free from the container it had been half trapped in. The magikarp splashed and karped its thanks, but the pidgey shot the human and his pokemon another wary glance and chirped at it to hurry off, so the fish turned and quickly swam down the creek. The pidgey spread its wings and lifted itself a few feet into the air, before it became clear some plastic had wrapped itself around its wing and it fell down again. It began to peck at it furiously while chirping loudly to Rowan and Kiki that it wasn't scared of them and that they better stayed back. If Rowan wanted to help free the pidgey, the quickest would probably be a battle to subdue it, but he could of course try do something else. Pidgey [Lv 4] has gotten into troubles in an attempt to help. Fog will be in effect (-10% accuracy)Shiny: 6Eccfj8u1-42(ooc: please ad a link to your character profile in your signature as adviced in your welcome post ^^ We need easy access for all the updates) 1-42

Rowan feels bad for the poor pidgey, and would like to get close enough to free it's leg. However, Rowan knows that it would not let him get that close. He decides that the best way to subdue it would be to make it faint and then untie it. He can barely see through the fog, which is getting thicker with every second. He looks down at Kiki, and she blinks through the fog, struggling to see the Pidgey. Rowan points at the Pidgey. "Kiki, Tackle!" he shouts. Kiki's expression hardens, she turns to him with a look of understanding, and charges.

These were rather rough conditions for one's first Pokemon battle, all things considered. The fog had come in thick and sudden that morning, making it difficult enough just to travel through the Route at this point in time. Then you had instances like what poor Pidgey had gotten itself into. The plastic that wrapped and bound one of its wings was cutting in tight, bringing a good deal of pain to the bird and limiting its movement. It wasn't sure what this plastic was or why it was here, smelling of food, but it needed it off. The feeling of the uncomfortable material was driving it mad! But Pidgey could hardly get these thoughts out of its head in time to even process that Rowan was giving his Bulbasaur commands. Still frozen close to the ground as it pecked and gnawed at the bound wing, Kiki charged into the fog and managed to land a blow on the bird's center mass; head-first and full boy, the Pidgey tumbled back on the ground, rolling a bit with the blow. It rose to its feet, letting out an indignant screech. The avian suddenly rushed forwrd itself, slamming its body and plastic-wrapped wing into the body of Kiki. Kiki fared much better, able to grit her teeth and only sliding back a few inches on the ground. The Pidgye had something of a size disadvantage, a speed disadvantage, and a comfort disadvantage compared to Kiki. Sure, it probably had more experience in wild combat, but the pain in its wing and the encroaching fog were beginning to be a bit too much for the bird to put up with. All it did know was that it needed to wrap this up, get this junk off of its wing and beat up this strange cabbage with a face, and go back to its nest. Maybe it could even find some good snacks on the way home if it did this quickly enough, and the Spearow didn't get to it first. Rowan cheered for Kiki through the dense fog. He thought about goin for Vine Whip, but then shook it out of his head, as he knew the Pidgey would take minimal damage from it. The Pidgey had stopped pecking at it's wing and had turned to face it's full attention to Rowan and Kiki. He could tell that it might be sluggish due to it's hindered wing, so he decided to capitalize on that. He ordered Kiki to tackle once more, but this time, he wanted her to aim for the wing, as he hoped to do more damage. Kiki charged from the side of the wing, hoping to land a hard-hitting blow.

Fear crept into Pidgey’s heart as it watched the boy and his plant-dino seize the opportunity to work together and attack it. It had not been so fortuitous in its life that it not only got entangled in the plastic that ensnared its wings but was being singled out by this strange human and its partner Pokemon. It couldn’t let them just easily knock it out while it was down, though! Pidgey flapped as hard as it could with its good wing and hopped along the ground, trying its best to lift itself up into the air to soar far away from them, though each time it would come crashing back down just as quickly as it jumped up. Only instincts that remained intact were urging it to do whatever it took to survive. Pain ached through its entire form from the tangled wing as the plastic dug through its feathers to the soft flesh that hid underneath. It pecked and prodded once more, squawking a few times as the plastic nearly wrapped itself around Pidgey’s beak. When Kiki came crashing into the bird’s hurt wing, causing it to fall over onto its side in the tall grasses, it screamed in agony. How could it hope to escape if its opponent was so fast to react on her feet?! Kiki’s quick moves managed to knock the plastic loose just a tad. Pidgey stretched the hurt wing a bit but couldn’t stretch it very far. Whatever the case may be, it seemed as though this plastic would remain stubbornly in place for quite some time. Immediately, the wild bird hopped on its sharp talons after Kiki, chasing after the large Bulbasaur, and came crashing into her side. It seemed as though this stout dino-plant was sturdier than Pidgey was giving it credit for, though, as only Pidgey fell backwards from the assault while Kiki remained perfectly in place where she stood. Rowan sees that the Pidgey is having trouble getting around. He suddenly has an idea. He tells Kiki to hold off on her assault while he rummages through his bag. He then pulls out a red gleaming pokeball. He eyes the pidgey, who has seen the device in his hand. It begins freaking out and attempts to flee, but Kiki blocks its escape. He raises his wrist, takes aim, and hurls the pokeball at the panicking Pidgey.

The Pidgey continued to struggle against the plastic bindings even as the fight waged on. Perhaps if it got out of the plastic, it could grin and bear it long enough to fly to some kind of safe haven. Maybe not all the way back to its nest, but at least to a place where it could hide out and wait for its wounds to heal. But alas, as it struggled it realized that it was now in the path of a strange mechanical sphere. As Rowan retrieved the Poke Ball from their bag, the Pidgey could do little other than to sit in horror and watch as Rowan lobbed the metallic sphere at it. The ball struck the Pidgey; in a fit of irony, the Pidgey being consumed into the red light of the Poke Ball's capturing mechanics allowed it to slip free of the plastic. The tangled plastic fell to the ground, cluttering with hardly a noise. Instead, all eyes and ears would be focusing on the sound of the Poke Ball falling to the ground and shaking vigorously. Within the ball, the injured Pidgey continued to fight back against the man-made prison. It was only a matter of time before the results of the capture would be known to them all. After a few moments of struggle in the dirt and the fog, the ball stopped moving. For a scant second, it appeared as if the fight was over and the ball would burst into pieces at any moment now, but then the sphere let out a faint click as it sealed shut. The capture was successful, and the Pidgey was now to be traveling with Rowan and Kiki.

Rowan rushed back to Professor Elm's pokemon lab to use the computer to heal Ace. Kiki had already done a number on him, and although she came out victorious, she was also battered. They would both need to be healed. After he got them healed, he stepped out of the pokemon center to see clear skies above him. The sun had risen, and there were little dew droplets on the grass beneath his feet. "Alright, come on out, Rowan said setting down Ace's pokeball lightly. With a pop, a red energy flushed from the ball, and out came Ace. He looked slightly confused, but then turned to see Rowan. He jumped, then, as if realizing what happened, turned away from Rowan with a defiant look on his face. Rowan could tell Ace wasn't accustomed to being his pokemon yet. "Hey, Ace," Rowan said to Ace's turned back. "Nice to meet you. I'm Rowan. I hope we can be friends." Kiki cooed from behind him. Ace turned slightly, just so Rowan could see he was listening. He chirped a wary greeting, then turned to Kiki. He was obviously very upset about getting defeated like that. He puffed up his feathers and chirped loudly at Kiki. She yelped and hid behind Rowan. He laughed, and with his two pokemon in tow, he began the trek to Cherrygrove City through route 29, looking for wild pokemon to train Ace with.

The dense fog slowly dissipated as the sun broke through thick stratocumulus clouds and managed to shine brightly in the warm blue skies above. It’s sharp rays penetrated through the canopies above in scattered lights that flecked across the forest floor between long strings of blended shadows. A slight breeze fluttered across the land, shaking the long limbs in the mighty oaks and causing the tall pines to sway back and forth. Small pink winged birds cawed from a place too high to reach and dived through the trees, taking off in different directions in a hurry. Something moved through the littered leaves and tall grasses that surrounded them. It dug at the ground with it small, sharp paws and pulled small berries up from underneath the earth. Spring was officially here in all its glory. Small flowers that decorated the landscape around the wild creature only reminded it that it had survived the worst of winter’s harshness. The strange purple rat greedily bit down into the berries it uncovered, gobbling them up in an instant and tossing the ones that had already begun to sprout a small plant from their core. When it heard another strange sound, the Rattata froze in place and twitched its ears. The unmistakable rustling on feet moving through the wild green grasses that rose up high enough to completely cover the purple rodent was unmistakable. Was it a human or something else? Careful listening made the fierce mouse sure that this was no wild Pokemon – or at least no ordinary one. It leaped out of the tall grasses banging its tail against the dusty ground underfoot as it charged after Rowan clattering its large buckteeth together loudly. “Leave this place at once! You don’t belong and I won’t have you stealing all my berries!” The rodent screamed defiantly. A Wild Rattata Appeared! Level 2. What will Rowan and his team do? Shiny? 6RC|V1hC1-421-42

The Rattata hissed loudly at Rowan and Ace. Kiki looked ready to fight after having her first taste a while ago, but Rowan held her back. "No, Kiki, let ace handle this." he said. Ace stepped ahead, ruffled his feathers, and chirped loudly. Rowan could tell that Ace wanted to fight. He smirked. "Ace! Tackle, now!" He shouted.

It was easy to be tough when you thought your opponent was easy to scare, and for some reason this young rattata thought that a human with pokemon were going to be a pushover. The rattata didn't wait, nor let Ace get time to adjust and get orders, this was not a clean fight as humans held in stadiums, it simply rushed at the pidgey and he had to throw himself to the side to dodge the charging rattata, the rat made a sliding stop and almost ran into Kiki. It glared from the young bird to the walking plant, "I told you to get lost! Why are you still here?" It snapped at them as its hackles rose and its tail fluffed out to be twice as big. It jumped when Rowan shouted his order and it gave his leg a slap with its tail, "knock it off! Are you trying to make us all deaf?!" It chattered irritated. "This is my place and my berries, and no matter how much you shout, I will not.." It got cut off as Ace came half running half flapping and crashed into it and sent them both rolling over the ground. The rattata was up on its feet first, "so that's how we're going to play, huh?!" It howled and ran into Ace and toppled him over again as he was about to get up. As Rowan ordered Ace to tackle again, Ace began to dash at the Rattata, but he then stopped. Why was he obeying orders from someone who ordered him to be beat up and put in a cramped ball? He didn't understand why he obeyed orders from Rowan, as he'd just been caught and did not have much of a bond yet. He turned back to Rowan and chirped aggressively at him, much to Rowan's surprise. "What? Ace, I told you to tackle!" he said, confused. Suddenly, Ace ran and tackled Rowan as the angered and injured Rattata ran at Ace from behind.

The small purple rodent watched the scene play out before its very eyes. Though it lowered itself to the ground and hissed, preparing for another attack, the birdbrain didn’t fly after it. Maybe they were taking Rattata’s advice and leaving this place so that it could keep its berries all to itself? “That’s right, run away!” The wild purple rodent clicked its buckteeth and hissed. It thumped its tail on the ground and perked its ears up as it took a daring step towards the two combatants, but when the wild bird tackled its trainer, the Rattata only blinked further. Was the bird not part of the problem at all?! Perhaps Rattata had this all wrong and it was the human who wanted to steal its berries. Anger lit the reds of Rattata’s eyes. It folded its ears firmly against its scalp and turned its full attention upon the lad instead. Clearly, it had the wrong target all along! And this human was imprisoning wild Pokemon to make them do its dirty work, too! That was such a horrible crime that Rattata didn’t even want to think about it. “Wait…so it’s the human that’s the one to blame! I’ll help free you so you can fly away and I can keep my berries!” Rattata rushed towards Rowan and lunged after the young lad with its mouth wide open, hoping to take a chomp out of Rowan’s arm. The two Pokemon collided accidentally in the midst of trying to attack the human together. Pidgey knocked the rat off its directional path, causing it to fall in the grass and tumble about sporadically. It groaned in pain, pushing itself up onto its four limbs, and tried to shrug the pain off for an instance, though it didn’t hurt nearly as bad as if the wild bird had attacked it instead. Pushing itself up and licking its fur where the bruises settled, Rattata turned towards Rowan once more and ran after him, hoping to slam its full weight against his leg in anger. “Listen up, human! I will teach you to mess with Pokemon kind and try to steal our food!” Rattata warned.
