Rowan, rather caught off guard that both the pokemon attacked him, fell backward with the force of the attacks. He stood back up quickly. Clearly Ace didn't trust him much yet. He decided that his best course of action would be to send out Kiki and finish the fight. The Ratata, although incredibly injured, stood menacingly a few paces away. Ace, facing him, reared up for another tackle. He chose this time to return Ace to his pokeball. "Ace, return!" he shouted. He whipped out his other pokeball and threw it into the air. It popped open, and out came Kiki. She landed, ready to fight. "Vine whip, now!" He shouted.

Things were just not going well for Rowan. As a new trainer on a journey, these were the fights that he should be taking advantage of, instead of being double teamed. Maybe a good conversation with Ace will clear all of this up. Maybe. The clash of bird and rodent would have to continue another day as the red beam of light grabbed the Pidgey and returned him to the capsule, making the Rattata pause for a second and watch Rowan warily. However, it seemed to be a front because when Rowan supplied the replacement Pokemon, the purple rat was all over Kiki, tackling her hard. Sliding back through the grass, the Bulbasaur retaliated with her vines, picking up the wild Pokemon and slamming him hard into the ground. She slammed him so hard that she knocked him out instantly, the swirls around his eyes proof that the rat would not be conscious anytime soon. While it was a victory, it almost seemed too easy for the grass Pokemon, and unfortunately she just did not learn much from such an overpowered finish. With the rat vanquished, Rowan could see his way forward. Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Rattata LV 02 HP 0% [0/13]

After healing up his pokemon at Professor Elm's Lab, he made his trek forward. Although he could understand Ace's mistrust in him, he was still rather annoyed that Ace chose to do the exact opposite of his orders. As they walked, he had Ace out of his pokeball. He needed to earn trust with Ace, he knew that, however, he could see that he was already making some progress. Ace was warily perched on his shoulder, looking intentently at Rowan, as if trying to predict his next move. Rowan chuckled slightly at this. Ace, on the other hand, was having mixed emotions. On the one hand, he had no idea if Rowan could be trusted. But on the other, Kiki seemed so happy with him, even though she had just met him. In fact, just being around Rowan made him let his guard down. He knew he'd one day like Rowan, but now he just needed time. So, with that, Ace relaxed a little, and the three of them made their trek to Cherrygrove City.

Rowan and his small crew of Pokemon made their way on the path to Cherrygrove City. Things were relatively peaceful in the wake of their first battle together as a trio, thankfully. One could faintly hear the sounds of Pokemon stirring in the brush, small rodents scurrying away from the sound of human footfalls or birds fleeing into the tallest trees upon detection of the human in their midst. Wild Pokemon did tend to be a bit cagey around random Trainers who wandered through their neck of the woods, so it only made sense that most of them might keep their distance from Rowan. One curious little creature, however, went for a different approach. As Rowan walked down the path to Cherrygrove, something would be heard and seen emerging from a nearby bush. A Sentret, balancing the entirety of its weight on its bushy tail, staring dead at Rowan and Ace with its strange beady little eyes. There were a few moments of silence where the Sentret said nothing to either of them nor to itself, before it sucked in a big breath. Suddenly the silence was ruined by the sound of the rodent's screaming, its squeaks sounding like an alarm as the noise echoed through the trees and shrubbery. "HUMAN! I SEE A HUMAN! EVERYONE SCATTER, HE MIGHT BE HERE TO EAT US!"However, nothing changed as the Sentret continued to wail and scream. The Scout Pokemon was doing its job, warning others of the danger before them, but it seemed that any Pokemon that were still hiding in the bushes either didn't care enough to do anything about it or had already been long gone, leaving the diminutive raccoon to its fate here. Whether Rowan opted to fight the creature or not, the Sentret continued its frenzied wailing and screeching, hoping to draw some kind of attention to the scene before it. A Wild Sentret (Level 2) has appeared and is making quite the racket! What will Rowan do? Shiny? 7tEgEYsF1-421-42

Rowan smirked at the sight of the panicked Sentret. He knew since no one was around to help it, It would likely try to flee to it's pack. Nevertheless, Rowan thought this would be another great opportunity to train Ace. As they walked the path, he could tell that Ace's trust in Rowan had grown considerably, so the chances were minimal that Ace would attack Rowan again. As a matter of fact, it seemed that Ace was excited to battle this Sentret, as if to prove to Rowan that he could, in fact, be trusted. He gave Ace a quick glance, and with that, he hopped off Rowan's shoulder and in front of the Sentret. He landed gracefully, hitting the ground without a sound. He then glared at the Sentret, clicking it's tongue menacingly. Rowan smirked, knowing that Ace wouldn't let him down this time. "Ace, Tackle!" Rowan shouted, and Ace charged.

The long eared meerkat stood on top of its tail screaming its head off for the world to hear as it visibly trembled. It had to hope and pray that its family and friends all ran far off through the forested region to safer hiding places, though it heard nothing of the sort from the top of its tail. When Rowan seemed to take notice and particular interest in the furry raccoon-like sentry, Sentret immediately plopped back down off its tail and tried to cower behind the large bush for protection. Even though it was doing its job and trying to protect those its loved and cared about, it didn’t want to be eaten by the human! Ace immediately swooped up high and took to the skies above, hovering just below the canopy so that he could scan the ground below him. This would give him the vantage point that other Pokemon simply never had. Even as the meerkat cowered underneath a large, bushy green shrub whose frame was just starting to produce small pink flowers all over, Ace was able to pick the cowering sentry out with ease. He immediately dived down and slammed his full weight into Sentret, toppling it over and knocking it through a wild patch of bright green wheatgrass that would easily envelope them both. Sentret cried out loudly from the initial shock of the attack. The pain that shot through its body seemed to cover the wild Pokemon from head to toe and it worried that Ace might have damaged its side, though only a bruise would remain where the other Pokemon made impact. It lashed out at the other Pokemon as fear seized its heart. It had to do anything that it could to knock this trainer’s Pokemon off of it! “Please, I just don’t want to be food!” Sentret tried to plead with Ace’s sense of morality and decency. “Please let me live! I mean you no harm!” It carried on while raking its sharp claws through Ace’s feathers and into his skin underneath. Rowan could see the Sentret was incredibly panicked, and If he didn't know better, he might've thought it was on the verge of a heart attack. It was making a huge racket, and even though it was extremely scared, it kept attacking Ace relentlessly, not giving him an inch of leeway. Ace was being scratched all over, and he knew Ace was waiting for rowan to give the command. Rowan bit his lip. He thought about going for tackle, but he feared the frenzied Sentret was too fast and that Ace would miss. He knew he couldn't switch to Kiki because even though she was stronger than Ace by a large margin, she was still very slow. However, he knew he couldn't take the risk. "Ace, tackle again!" Rowan shouts.

The Sentret was indeed in a panic, scratching furiously at the bird that had just moments prior slammed his body into it at full force. In its mind, it was doing all that it could to protect its home and its friends and family from this invader. Too often did humans go stomping through the brush and the bramble, looking for friends to indenture into their servitude and force to fight for their amusement. So many of this Sentret's family and friends had been taken away by rookie Trainers looking for an easy monster to raise. But it was going to all be for naught, as Ace received his orders. Ace shot forward, giving another full-body tackle into the ringed mammal's body. The attack hit center mass, knocking the Sentret onto the ground. The Sentret was sent reeling and literally rolling from the force of the attack, mixed in with the dirt and debris on the ground. As its eyes closed, the Sentret could faintly see some of the other local rodents and bugs scurrying away deeper into the brush of the route. Sentret had lost the battle, but it had helped its equally skittish neighbors and friends escape from being captured by this human. But now Rowan and Ace were faced with an interesting conundrum. Do they take this Sentret, seemingly fearful of humans and Trainers such as him, with them on their journey? It would be easy enough to just tap a Poke Ball against the unconscious rodent's body and take it to be healed, if Rowan was so inclined. Or he could just recall Ace and go on with the next leg of his journey through this early Route. The choice was all up to him now.
Ace beat up a scared wild animal and should feel terrible about it! But he gained +2 levels! Pidgey is now Level 7! Furthermore, thanks to New Trainer Protection rules, Rowan can capture the defeated Sentret now: [img src="https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/bw/sentret.png"] [b]Sentret[/b] Name: [choose] Gender: [choose] Level: 2 OT: Rowan Thompson Moves: Growl, Scratch Ability: Run Away OR Keen Eye Nature/Personality: [choose]

Although Rowan was quite surprised at the sudden attack of the Sentret, Rowan could tell that he could be quite strong, given the proper training. The blooming weather had Pokemon running around the area full of life and excitement. Many small families would travel down the wooded route towards large open spaces where they could stretch small blankets across the bright green grass and host a picnic. Little toddlers ambled on their short feet and stumbled about their mothers, who clapped and applauded their efforts. By all accounts, it was a bright and beautiful day to be out and about. Wild Pokemon darted around them, carrying small bits of supplies like twigs for nest building or berries for consuming. Several furry purple rodents cornered a young mother and her toddler and snapped their long buckteeth together as they hissed angrily, fully expecting to steal the family’s basket full of yummy food from them. “Oh, please help us!” The young woman pulled on her straw hat and fretted. She gripped her child’s hand tight in her own and stumbled backwards on her feet, only to feel the teeth of one of the Rattata snap close to her skin. This would cause her to jump back into the center of the ring. “Why didn’t I bring my pet Ariados with me today?! We’ve no Pokemon to defend ourselves! Is there a trainer around that can help us?!” She shouted, hoping that someone would hear her. The rodents smirked, happy to make use of this trapped human who wouldn’t be able to save herself from them. “Give us all your food, if you want to make it out alive.” They hissed. When the largest rodent noticed Rowan – whether because he chose to answer the lady’s call or because they heard the young trainer wandering around or talking – it would spin around and hiss menacingly while thumping its furry purple tail into the grassy earth underfoot. “Get lost, human. You don’t want any beef with us!” The other Rattata, who were a bit more bruised and beaten up than the leader, all chattered softly and heckled Rowan and his Pokemon. “Yeah, that’s right! You better listen to our leader and scram! Whatever these two have in their baskets is all ours, you hear?! Ours for the taking!” Its heckling friends cheered their leader on. Rowan knew that he couldn't let this innocent woman be harassed by this nefarious Rattata. He knew that the first pokemon he would send out would be Speedy, and he knew for a fact that he couldn't do anything against this Rattata. He instead opted to send out Ace. He thought that the Rattata would see his strong pidgey and opt for a Counter, so he wanted to play safe. "Ace, Sand Attack!" Rowan shouted.

When the threatening and playing big and menacing didn't work to chase off Rowan, the Boss Rattata huffed and looked back to its comrades. "Looks like this one is up for some bruising, I'll show them that they shouldn't stick their nose where it didn't belong!"The two other jumped up and down grinningly, "yeah boss! Show 'em who's boss!" One of them shouted excitedly, and the other nodded eagerly along, "yeah! Use that special move of yours! That one only you knows and always surprises them and takes them down!"The boss grinned and turned back to the pidgey which was called out, "I might just do that, this is going to be too easy!""Oh Thank you good sir! I know I shouldn't have gone out here without our pokemon but she was sleeping so peacefully and I didn't want to disturb her, and usually things are nice and quiet out here," The woman rambled her thanks and excuses. "What's your name?" The kid interrupted and called out her question to Rowan, she didn't seem scared by the situation at all, she might just be too small to understand. To her all pokemon were playmates and fun. "My grandma has a bird too! It can talk! Can your bird talk? What's your bird's name?" The kid continued with her basic questions. Her mother chuckled embarrassed. "So pipsqueak, you really think you got a chance against me?" The boss rattata mocked and crouched, ready to counter any attack sent at it, it was just none attacks were sent at its direction. Instead Ace swooped down and with a well placed flap of a wing, sent a cloud of dust over the purple rat who coughed and rubbed its face. "What?" It coughed and glared at Ace, "is that all you got?"Wild Encounter Weather: Blooming(Clear) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Wild Rattata LV 4 HP 100% [17/17]

Rowan smirked, successfully able to trick the Rattata. Ace flapped wildly and ruffled its dirty feathers after using Sand Attack. Looks like Ace wasn’t used to using this move yet. Ace turned to Rowan with a fire in his eyes, awaiting instructions.
“Ace, run at the Ratatta!”
Ace turned to the Rattata, with a flap of his wings, and he took off with mad speed toward the Rattata, who was planted in the ground. Ace skidded to a quick stop in front of him, took a big flapping jump above the Rattata, landed gracefully behind him, and charged for a full body tackle. This maneuver was one Ace and Rowan had made up, hoping to confuse the Rattata.

The boss rattata didn't agree that it had been tricked, how would it be a trick that Ace was too scared to really attack it and just threw sand around like all the scaredy cat birds already did when they saw it? The fact that Ace didn't 'dare' to answer its verbal challenges it just saw as a confirmation of that. "See how it shakes like a leaf in the wind? It's terrified!" The boss rattata boasted and its too followers cheered, happily accepting their leader's explanation. "Throwing sand to try distract me, but that won't work!"It turned back to Ace, "Hey! Featherball! Yeah, I'm talking to you! Too scared to speak? Then show me what you got, or will you hide behind all that sand like a crying little hatchling begging for its parents to feed you? Your parents can't protect you, so either show you're not completely boneless or get lost and stop wasting my time!" It taunted and smirked when Ace rushed at it, clearly he had fallen for it! Ace veered off and swooped over the rattata gracefully, the rat's eyes never left the bird and it spun around to keep facing its opponent. "That was stupid," the rattata said smugly when Ace chose to land and ran at it, instead of keeping the advantage of flying, the rat didn't try to dodge it. Ace rammed into the rattata and sent it skidding back, its eyes widened a moment as that had been stronger than it had anticipated but it wasn't going to stop it. It leaped at the the now earthbound bird and threw ace to the ground in a heap of feathers. The rattata stood panting heavily and gloated in the cheerings from its fellow rattatas, who praised and gushed over its strength and bravery. It had once again managed to use its special tricks and had completely taken its opponent by surprise. "Whats you naaaaammmeeee?!" The kid shouted at Rowan when he didn't answer her at first, the mother's embarrassed expression turned worried and she began shushing her kid. "But I just want to know what his name is, why won't he tell me?!" The kid asked her mother way too loudly. "Shh! Not everyone wants to tell you their name, and he's busy with the battling, don't disturb him," The woman said in a loud whisper, "But why not? I tell them mine!" The kid said just as loudly as before. "Perhaps he will tell you when the battle is over, but right now he needs to focus on that, okay? So we watch quietly now," she said a bit sternly and the kid frowned confused but at least stopped shouted at Rowan for what his name was. The mother glanced at the trainer and wondered if he was a kind who preferred pokemon over people and didn't like to chat. "Oh-" Rowan turned to the mother and the kid. He hadn't noticed that he was attempting to talk to him. "I'm Rowan, sorry for not answering first. I didn't quite hear you the first time." He turned back to Ace and with alarm he saw that he had sustained more damage than the Rattata. "Oh, crap..." he muttered. He then turned back to the child. "You said your grandma had a talking bird, right? What's its name?" He said, switching Ace to Kiki. Her massive frame slammed into the ground as she landed. "Kiki, growl!" he yelled. He then turned to the mother. "I'm sorry for not talking to you at first, I just thought to defeat this Rattata first," he said apologetically as Kiki let out a menacing growl. "You should really keep your pokemon with you at all times, you never know when something could pop out of the tall grass." He turned and saw that Speedy came out of his pokeball and was being chased by the kid who was yelling "SENTRET! SENTRET! COME HERE, PLEASE! I WON'T HURT YOU!" Speedy hid behind Rowan's leg and crawled up to his head, chittering in fear.
