Wren managed to get the battle mostly navigated away from the entrance. A couple of people did notice the ruckus, but most eyes were sympathetic. Wild pokemon could be quite aggressive, and this one was being especially ornery with the poor young person. None of them had any idea that the poor Taillow just wanted this wonderful nesting material, but it was just so stuck and this human was being greedy, keeping it all to themselves! YANK! <I would leave if you would just let me have this!> Mischief jumped up and tried to knock the taillow away again, and received a defensive peck to the face for his effort. <This is mine! All mine. Go away. Get your own.> Pull. Pull. Pull. Why wouldn't these fine fur come off? Wren's knees buckled under all the attention they were drawing in from the Taillow's assault. They managed to make it over to the grass and curl up into a defensive position. A defense curl, if you will. They tried to bat away the pushy bird and initiated another order for a scratch attack. "Get 'em, Mischief! Get 'em!" They frantically called, trying so very hard to contain their voice in public.
Mischief came to his trainer's aid and swiped at the Taillow once more, getting a rhythm going from bouncing off his tail to pounce on the other side of his trainer this time.

The human with the good nesting material was curling up on the ground, making it even harder. <I waaaaant.> It complained, claws slipping as the human tried to cover their head. The little robin chirped and flapped and otherwise continued to be an absolute menace to society with its insistence on harassing Wren. When Mischief got closer, it, in frustration, darted out to knock the sentret down and away. <Miiiiine. Go away! Why won't you leave!> It fluttered above Mischief, leaving it wide open to retaliation scratches. Ouch! It was starting to have a hard time staying aloft. Every wing beat was strained. Before Mischief heard Wren shout, he knew what he needed to do. This trainer gave him the best snuggles for the past day, and he wasn't going to just sit idly by as a wild Pokemon attacked them. "You want a nest, right? Get your own long, frizzy fur!"
Wren continued to curl up defensively as they ordered their Pokemon to attack one final time. "Y-You're doing great, Mischief! Ow, ow, ow..." They whined softly into themselves.

It wasn't the final time. That growl from earlier had softened the sentret's blows just enough that as Mischief sought vengance for the one who gave cuddles and kindness...that the darn bird endured. It was flung away, but it sat where it landed, eyes narrowed, feathers fluffed, looking very peevish. Like it was plotting something. Taillow were notoriously gutsy, fearless birds. It was little wonder it was standing its ground, even while hanging on by a literal thread. It wanted that nesting material and nothing would get between it and its goals. <I...I won't...let you...take away the softs...> it panted, wings lifting, as if it was poised to strike with calculated precision next turn rather than aimlessly like before. This had gotten to push versus shove and it was prepared to peck, peck, peck back. Wild Encounter Weather: Clear [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Taillow LV 10 HP 3% [1/31]

Mischief was ready for this. Being a shiny in such a tiny town like New Bark prepared him for oncoming trainers looking to test their mettle. This same training made him fierce in battle, even with his limited arsenal. He relies on his speed and precision atop his mighty tail-mount, and swings again as Wren calls for another attack. "You-- You got this, Mischief! I believe in you!" They called, preparing for another clash with their hair as the battlefield.

Once more the pair would clash. The bird wanted to defend its newfound nesting material and the sentret wanted to defend his trainer. There was a violent flap of wings and a screech from the bird, then, the pair collided. And unlike every time before where the taillow returned to bothering Wren, it at last stayed away. For a moment, it swayed on the cobblestones, looking like it might try to hold it together. But it would soon collapse at Wren's feet, unable to keep fighting. Its hunt for soft things for its nest was ended as quickly as it began and now Wren could sort out the damage. At least the bird didn't rip out too much hair. Not enough for anyone to notice, even if the few strands that were yanked had been painful to lose. Mischief would feel a little stronger after that spar. He felt like if he just chained his scratches together super fast that maybe he could do something awesome and strong! Maybe. Throwing around his paws could be rather difficult to aim.
Taillow was defeated!

Wren threw a pokeball at the bird that harassed them. They weren't a fan of it trying to rip their hair out, but maybe they would be a fun challenge to raise. Hair and braids ruined, Wren cared little as they swooped Mischief into their arms. The little tanuki cuddled close as the trainer held him. "That was amazing, Mischief. Your attacks are getting faster, did you learn Fury Swipes? The golden Pokemon chirped lovingly in their arms.

Mischief forgot Scratch in exchange for Fury Swipes!

Taillow has been captured! Please fill out the following for your new capture:
[img src="https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/gen5/taillow.png"] [b]Taillow[/b] Name: [choose] Gender: [choose] Level: 10 OT: Jade "Wren" Undergrove Moves: Peck, Growl, Focus Energy, Quick Attack Ability: Guts Nature/Personality: [choose] Mischief and Wren would have their time to celebrate in the wake of besting the tiny blue bird whose body had just been consumed by the bright red light of the Poke Ball. Wren's hair was safe from being torn apart for nesting material, and the raccoon-like creature had a new move in its repertoire. However, not all would be well as they celebrated in the Cherrygrove streets. There were still plenty of Pokemon and Trainers milling about the area, no doubt looking for something in the pursuit of their own goals. Before long, a new figure would appear, slinking along the ground slowly and creeping upon the celebrating duo. This Ekans had been on the hunt for food for so long that it had forgotten when its last meal was; too many people coming through, scaring off its prey and catching its brethren. How was an Ekans supposed to eat if all there were no bird Pokemon eggs to snack on, or no rodents to force down its gullet? It couldn't survive off of the table scraps that came from those careless restaurant owners forever, it needed to hunt and keep its fangs sharp. And now, just as it had finally found a bird to track down and gorge upon, it was snatched up by this Trainer. It had never seen a Trainer catch an unconscious Pokemon before, so often they left them on the side of the road to recover on their lonesome. It had been hoping that this Wren would do the same, and it could snack upon what was left behind. But to no avail, it seemed, as its latest prey was snatched up. Ekans could only coil up and hiss defensively, preparing to strike at the human and her Pokemon. A wild and starving Ekans (Level 9) has emerged to find its next meal: you! What will Wren do? Shiny? 0h|Qsxovp_1-42(-1 Poke Ball from Wren, and Sentret's moveset has been updated.) 1-42

A bone-chilling hiss slithered up the shaken trainer's spine. They turned around to witness another wild pokémon, this time one they have already dealt with before. Pulling their hairbrush out of their bag and storing Tay's pokéball away, the trainer simultaneously backed away and put distance between themselves and the snake. Mischief, still raring to go, assumed the position between the two characters. He was ready to try his new move! "Alright, Mischief. This time use Fury Swipes!" The trainer pointed with authority, now confident in their ability compared to a few moments ago. _____ TaillowName: Tay Gender: Male Level: 10 OT: Jade "Wren" Undergrove Moves: Peck, Growl, Focus Energy, Quick Attack Ability: Guts Nature/Personality: Bold; audacious and reckless.

Ekans felt a rare moment of pride and self-importance, seeing the Trainer take a tentative step back from the sight of the poisonous serpent. After spending so long living off of scraps and barely scraping by as a scavenger, the predatory Pokemon could see that it was inspiring some sense of discomfort in the humans that crossed its path. But this moment of pride was short-lived, as Mischief was sent back into the fray not long after. So be it, the snake thought, it would beat down this raccoon and go about its day. Ekans lunged forward, uncoiling its scaly purple body and launching itself forward at the tanuki-like Pokemon, its fangs dripping a purple liquid as it soared through the air. Mischief was fast, but not faster than Ekans, and would try and fail to dodge out of the way of the attack, but still earned a grazing blow for their troubles. But even a grazing blow was enough for the poison to do its work, the strange purple liquid having infected the wound. Mischief flinched as the poison worked its way into its system, but not before releasing a flurry of scratches and swings that raked across the snake's diminutive body. Ekans slunk away, putting some distance between itself and the tanuki, panting raggedly. Mischief was still in fairly good condition, despite the slight discoloration to its face and the flinching that came with every movement. It might fall to the poison eventually, but this fight would be over and Wren would have plenty of time to get it treated before that was a true concern. Ekans, meanwhile, continued to wince at the furious swiping that had raked through its scaly hide. It considered fleeing for a moment, but it new that now with its injuries that would be a fool's errand. No choice now but to stand (or perhaps slink or coil?) its ground and fight. The newbie trainer noticed their Pokémon's obvious poisoning this time, having failed to do so in the past. They were more familiar with the body language Mischief displayed while under duress. Although the situation wasn't ideal, Wren was confident in Mischief's ability to fight with this cool new move of his! "Awesome job-- again!" They ordered.
Where they used to be frantic as battle began, a certain calmness spread through Wren. Though, it also helped there wasn't a bird pokémon trying to make a nest of their hair this time around. Their determination remained. After another refresher at the pokémon center, they would locate Ranger Nikki and continue the search from last night!

Mischief didn't even bother sheathing his claws, leaving them out and gleaming, bits of Ekans scale still clinging to the points. This battle was quickly getting out of hand for the wild reptile, and even it could recognize that. Hissing in annoyance, the poison type was looking for any avenue of escape, but it just wasn't going to work. Mischief charged again, looking to swipe at the snake. Lifting its head, the eyes of the Ekans started to glow a deep red as it attempted to scare the normal type a little bit but either Mischief wasn't scared or just so much into the battle that the rodent refused to pause, before slashing fiercely at the Ekans, four different slashes across the body of the reptile. Shuddering for a second, the snake went completely limp and rolled over, knocked out completely. Chances were good that it would take the Ekans a while to recover and then gain enough energy from the sun to crawl away to safety. Unless the trainer was feeling pity for the snake. Wren felt an overwhelming pride at their first-caught pokémon becoming an absolute menace on the battlefield. As he landed the final blow, Mischief began to glow a recognizable gleam of evolution! The tiny tanuki curled up tightly in a ball, and out unfurled came a massive ferret with hot pink and white stripes. Mischief has evolved into a Furret! Being a different color than other pokémon his species, his beautiful flashy colors made him stand out in the street.
Wren wrapped Mischief in a big hug, like they were holding a massive plush toy. The massive ferret attempted to wrap himself around his trainer's shoulders, and with a little stumbling, Wren managed to hold him like that for a moment while laughing it off. "Alright, big guy, I can only take so much. Return!" The pokémon retracted back into his pokéball.
They looked over to the Ekans, who was beginning to depart from the busy street. Wren was running low on pokéballs; they can't catch everyone. Plus, Ekans kinda gives them the heebie-jeebies anyways.
After another refresher at the pokémon center, they went to locate Ranger Nikki and continue the search from Timmy!

It wouldn't take Wren long to find Ranger Nikki, who in fact looked like she was looking for them at the same time. "Wren! Wren, hi, good morning," Nikki greeted, waving to the trainer just in case they didn't see her. "Hope you had a good night. Anyway, I was up really early this morning and I decided to head back to the Bidoof damn by myself, just to scout things out. After a little while, I noticed some marks on the ground and quickly discovered some sneaker prints in the mud. Timmy must have been through this section of the route not that long ago. Come with me, I'll show you," the Ranger said, excitement sparking in her eyes. It didn't take long for them to find the trail, completely bypassing the dam, just in case, and there they were in the ground. Plain as day impressions of a shoe that a younger child would wear. "Come on, we should be able to find him quickly," But before they could get down the path, the grass rustled and something jumped out in front of them, blocking their way forward. Level 5 Mareep is in the path, what will Wren do? Mischief can learn Agility through evolution. Would you like Mischief to learn agility?
