Weather: Chinook Time: Evening into Night
This was probably not a great situation. He was very late getting going on his start and it was going to get colder, wasn't it? The warm wind was going vanish. But Benny had been far too excited and nervous for this second start to his journey through Johto. Not a wink of sleep was had until the wee hours of the morning. To be precise, his eyes didn't finally close until about 5am and then he had overslept his way past noon. Not only that, but he had to run from his home in Cherrygrove to get to New Bark and Professor Elm's lab. It was well into the afternoon by the time he was able to finally talk himself through walking in the front door and getting to the his starter selection. And sure, he had promised himself that he wasn't going to waste Elm's time by going round and round this time about picking which Pokémon he wanted to go with for his first but... well it still had taken longer than he would have liked.
But eventually he got out of there and started down the track of Route 29 on his way back to his hometown... when the the deep need to take a better look at this new Bulbasaur took over. He had to know if it was possible that it was one of those rare ones. One of those specially colored ones! It was very clear from the first moment he let the Pokémon out of the ball that it was, in fact, just the same color as any old Bulbasaur but Benny was not convinced. He had cracked open an old textbook from school, turned it to a page on Bulbasaurs, and by this point was excitedly chattering to himself. "You know, I definitely think this splotch right here on your head has to be kind of different than all the other splotches, right?" Benny said with a smile, sort of speaking to the Bulbasaur, but sort of more to himself, I mean it just has to be!"
Unfortunately, the sassy grass type took this comment more as an insult rather than a compliment. "Excuse me?" the Bulbasaur chirped, turning to glare up at his trainer, "Every inch of this body is perfect and pristine, don't be calling them splotches and don't be saying I have odd ones." Benny looked up from the textbook, observing the way the Pokémon spoke back to him. Obviously he couldn’t understand a thing that was said but even he could tell the Pokémon didn't agree with him. Letting out a small sigh of defeat, Benny sat in his disappointment for a mere second. But it wasn’t long before he plastered his face with a smile again. "That's fine. You're still a super awesome Pokémon and that's what matters most," he chortled, which seemed to put a smile back on Bulbasaur's face. Compliments always worked wonders for the sassy grass type who definitely had pride enough for the both of them.
But before Benny could stand back up from where he knelt, he felt a sudden overwhelming desire.. "You know, they say you have those two vines hidden somewhere under this bulb, right? Maybe you would let me take a small sneak peek..." Benny mused, slowly reaching a hand out toward the back of the Bulbasaur. Immediately, sensing the man was going to touch his precious bulb, vines whipped out from below the bulb and one smacked Benny across the hand. "Absolutely not!" the Bulbasaur barked, glaring once again at his trainer. Benny immediately snapped his hand against his chest with a wince. "Sorry!" he blurted out, rubbing the top of his right hand with his left, "I didn't realize... I..." Gosh he was already screwing this up, wasn't he? They hadn't even took but a few steps on the beginning of their journey and Benny was blowing it big time. His normally jolly face fell and he continued to rub the back of his hand as he contemplated. "Are we already failing at this?" he murmured, more to himself, but obviously at a volume loud enough for the Bulbasaur to hear.
The Pokémon took a long moment to stare up at the trainer next to him, narrowing his own eyes in thought. Before long, the Bulbasaur let out a long sigh, and then moved its already extended vines up in front of Benny's face. "I am no failure," Bulbasaur said at the trainer that couldn't even understand him fully, "I'm a winner and you're going to follow me down my road of victory." Benny blinked his eyes in surprise a couple of times at the vines before realizing Bulbasaur's face seemed pretty determined, at least from what he could tell. "B-But its already getting so late," Benny stammered back, now actually realizing that the sun was pretty much disappearing behind the horizon, "Do you really think we can.. we can do this?" The Bulbasaur nodded, before the vines in front of Benny's face swished in a particular direction. "Come on," Bulbasaur commanded, turning round as his vines slipped back under his bulb, "We're going this way."
For a moment, Benny blinked a few times, watching the Pokémon stomp off in a direction with more confidence than the young trainer had ever had. But before long, he quickly followed along, righting his glasses and then shoving his cold hands into the pocket of his baby blue hoodie, "Ok but be careful not to slip." Benny was smiling now, a rush of excitement creeping back under his skin, "and you know what would be fun? We should come up with a good nickname for you!"

As darkness slowly fell, the half melted snow began to freeze again making it very slippery. Especially in the place where there had been puddles of water, which had no frozen to what was called Black Ice, almost invisible and impossible to see ice, which seemed extra slippery since you didn't expect that otherwise clear dry looking area to be pure ice. The darkness certainly wouldn't help on it either. As Benny and soonish-to-be-named Bulby trotted out on the route, someone else was going in the opposite direction. A mother it seemed was dragging a youngster home in time for dinner time, he struggled against her with all his might. "Moooom! No! Please, I almost found it this time! I don't have time to go home nooow!" He whined and wailed and tried to loosen her grip on his arm, she sent him annoyed look. "Enough Frede, It is getting dark and cold, it is dangerous for you to be out here! You are not old enough to be a trainer and travel yet," she scolded but he clearly didn't listen. "It ran to the creek! I want it! There's nothing like it!" He complained and she shot Benjamin an embarrassed look, of course there would be spectators when her normally well behaved kid acted out. She stopped and crouched to get on his level. "Frede, there is no such things as a black rattata, they are purple and you know that," she explained to him gently and he pouted and attempted to cross his arms, which was very difficult since she hadn't let go of him. "There is one! I saw it and that's why I want it!" He argued and she sighed, "it was probably just dirty or wet, so you just thought it was black.""No! Let go of me!" Frede shouted and his mom sighed wearily as he began to struggle again. She picked him up and avoided Benny's eyes as she carried her kid home, screaming and kicking. The creek, Benny had passed that on his way to New Bark Town and if he stayed near the main path he should be able to find it rather easily if he wanted to check it out. As they continued, either towards the creek or in some other direction, something would shuffled through the frozen underground and a black furred bucktoothed pokemon crawled out, shook its fur and against the remaining of the white snow it was very clearly purple. Just a normal rattata, it hadn't noticed them yet, not many were out at these hours and it rummaged around in the snow near the bushed and trees to see if it could find anything edible. A very normal looking Rattata [Lv 6] is sniffing around. Weather will be Chinook (slippery)Shiny: rSLVn95Tp_1-42(ooc: hinting to the alolan rattata which are in this area, since they have a different color as well You just need the first badge to be able to encounter one for real. "Bubba! That sounds kind of cute, doesn't it?" Benny chirped at his Bulbasaur, excitement back in full effect and written all over his face, "I'm totally feeling Bubba for you." He was doing his best to keep pace with the grass type who was actually moving pretty fast for such a little guy. But Bulbasaur stopped in its tracks, a scoff echoing from its lips, before it turned its head away from him. "No way! Do not call me that," it hissed, the tone of its voice making very clear to Benny that wasn't going to work, raising one of its vines up threateningly. They might have only known each other for a short period of time but Bulbasaur was very good at using its tone and body language to tell his trainer exactly how he felt. "Oh um-m," Benny stuttered both in surprise and because the air was definitely getting colder as it grew dark. Still, he gave a soft, nervous chuckle, scratching the back of his head, "Ok so not that. Got it. How about..." He paused for a moment, thinking it over as they walked, as Bulbasaur pulled his vines back again. But then Benny was chiming brightly, "Bulby! That's super, duper cute." In Benny's mind, there was no arguing it. This was the perfect name. Even Bulbasaur took a moment to contemplate it, and went to argue back but was caught off but the sudden loud noise of the woman and the child. Both Benny and Bulby raised an eyebrow, or at least the Bulbasaur would have if it had eyebrows, and they stood there stunned at the display in front of them. After the initial shock, Benny's first instinct was to raise his hand about chest high and give a little wave. However, it was a half-hearted greeting and he quickly set his hand back down when he saw the look of embarrassment from the mom. Yeah, maybe it was best to stay out of it. Bulby took it upon himself to start walking off from the awkwardness, and Benny was going to follow after him... But then there was the mention about the strange colored Pokémon. Benny immediately snapped his head to look back at the pair of strangers, attention solely focused on the screaming child. Just like his sister Christina's kids, his niece and nephew, this kid was not making Benny ever want children of his own, no thank you... but what the kid said... The rattata he did want. He stared after the mom and son for a few seconds as they walked away and avoided his eye, before he was racing after Bulby. "We're going this way now," he commanded, in a confident voice, pointing in the direction of the creek. Bulby gave a soft sigh but, surprisingly, followed the order, actually feeling persuaded by the confidence he hadn't heard from Benny before. It didn't take very long, except for a quick moment where Benny had slipped a bit of ice and had to catch himself, before they were both at the creek previously mentioned by the whiner. "This is it," Benny said shakily, trying to catch his breath which puff in a bit of fog each time it came out, "The specially colored Pokémon. A black rattata. It's gotta be around here." Bulby pulled up beside the man, also a bit out of breath having to keep up with his short legs, and grunted at him in a bit of disbelief at the idea of them actually finding this thing. There was also a little bit of worry in the grass type, that they might find a Pokémon that Benny thought pretty than Bulby. No! Bulby knew he was the ultimate beauty. The best! Then there was the rustling, and the pair turned to see the rattata moving around in some bushes. "Is it..." Benny inquired in a hushed tone, leaning over to Bulby so his words were low enough not to startle the mouse Pokemon away, "...Do you think it looks black?" The bulbasaur squinted its eyes a little, pretty sure it was not anything more than a normal looking rat. Bulby turned his nose up in disgust, and then shook his head up to his trainer, "No, I really don't think so." If only Benny understood the language of Pokemon, but he was completely convinced otherwise. "I think it is... It has to be," he said, getting louder in his excitement, before taking a step forward toward rattata. He couldn't help it, he was drawn in by his desire. Of course, it just so happened that step was right on a piece of black ice. Benny immediately took a tumble straight onto his butt, letting out a sharp hiss of pain, snow puffing up all around him from the impact. But he couldn't focus on that for long, even if there was a bit of tingles happening in the ankle of the foot he had stepped on the ice with. No, no time at all because he knew in his soul that rattata had to have noticed this mess. "Go Bulby! Go! Vine whip!" Benny shouted, pointing an excited finger toward the mouse Pokémon. Bulby had been staring with a disappointed look as Benny fell, wondering if he had made the right choice to go along with this trainer. Still, he huffed, rolling his red eyes a little at the nickname, before running toward the rattata full tilt. The vines on his back extended out and before gave a dramatic florish, shot out toward the mouse. Sure, Bulby knew this rat wasn't going to be what Benny was looking for, but Bulby wanted to prove to the man that he was a winner Pokémon just like he had said before.
OOC: Bulby is attempting a vine whip on Rattata No worries on the newbie Pokemons, I'm going to have them join after this. Could someone please update Purrloin's code though: PurrloinName: Kitty Gender: Male Level: 1 OT: Zaiden Kabila Moves: Sratch, Growl Ability: Limber Nature/Personality: Naughty. Kitty loves to be a sneaky, mischievously little brat. Anytime he is released from his pokeball, he's pretty much up to no good. Better keep track of your coins because they're around, Kitty is gonna be grabbing em. Sure, he can be charming when he's caught, but he'll just go right back to being a brat seconds later. And if he's around other Pokemon that are tricksters, he has to go in harder than them to show he's the best at being bad.

The once black rodent chewed away at some roots that barely pushed up through the ground. They were halfway submerged under the earth and buried under a foot of snow that Rattata recently cleared away. It’s wet nose twitched and wiggled against the rough bark, before it would rip and tear through the hard, woody fibers with its buckteeth. Rattata was oblivious to Benny and Bulby until something that sounded like a heard of stampeding Stantler caused its furry purple head to shoot straight up. Bright red eyes widened with worry and searched through the whitened landscape until they noticed Bulby and his human, with the strange human shouting something akin to an attack at the bulbous Pokemon. “Now, you listen here and you listen good buddy!” Rattata huffed angrily, chattering away at the top of its lungs. It narrowed its eyes down on Bulby, for a second completely ignoring the gigantic human that followed alongside Bulby. “I’m cold. And hungry. And a little wet. And I was just covered in a lot of debris that’s impossible to get out of your fur! No matter how hard you clean. So if you think you’re going to waltz in here and steal MY food!” The rodent gestured to the ugly old root with its sharp red eyes, hopping on top of it defensively. It pressed its body against the gnarled root and hissed while whipping its tail wildly from side to side. “You’ve got another thing coming!”Bulby unleashed two long green vines from either side of his bulb and whipped at his opponent, easily causing the wild rat to jump on the tip of its nimble feet. What in the world?! The sloshy ground caused Rattata to slip. It flipped onto his back with a loud thud and rolled in the soggy snow as it squirmed and scrambled to right itself once more. “Ah! Ugh! Gah! Ok, ok, ok…ok! Maybe I can share a little piece…MAYBE!” Rattata huffed tiredly as it finally managed to crawl back on all fours. What a tough little cookie. Didn’t they know it was obviously too cold to be outside battling senselessly like this? Ugh! Bulby scrunched up his frog like nose at the rat Pokémon. How gross! Not only was it munching on some poor defenseless root, it was talking about being debris covered and wet. "Blech," the Bulbasaur responded at first, sticking out his tongue and making a retching sound. He swung his head back and forth to shake off the disgust, before pursing his thin froggy lips at Rattata. "Do you really think I'd want to eat anything after your gross has been all over it? No thank you!" he shot back, glaring at the root and then back at Rattata. But he couldn't get distracted. He had a point to prove to Benny. Of course, he could have a littel fun with it. "Oh and you know? I think you missed a spot cleaning yourself," Bulby sneered, hitting the Rattata with his vines, emphasizing his next words with each hit, "Here! And here!."
That had actually felt kind of good for Bulby, and it was even better watching the rat slip and fall after. He chortled over such an embarrassing moment. Of course, Benny couldn't feel quite the same watching the events unfold. He had finally gotten back up to his feet shakily, and gazed at the poor Rattata being bombarded by whips and stumbling around... It kind of made him think of himself. A complete mess sometimes and stumbling along on this journey. But this is what he had to do. Benny knew he had to do better this time round. That meant he had to battle Pokémon and catch them. At least the two seemed to be talking. Maybe that meant they were getting along. Whatever Rattata was saying now seemed less aggressive than what it said before, and Bulby was saying things in return that seemed... "Ew no. I don't want a piece! I don't want anything you've put your nasty teeth on!"... very Bulby like!
"Alright, that was great," Benny shouted out, trying quickly to think over their next move. Maybe they should switch things up to keep Rattata on its toes. "Let's see you go in for a tack--" he had started to say. But Bulby was now directing a shout to Benny, shaking its little head, "Don't you dare have me touch that thing! It's all dirty! I don't want its germs!" Obviously, Benny had no idea what Bulby was saying, but the grass type also raised its vines to give Benny direction on what he wanted. It gave Benny enough time to pause to think over the ice that both he and Rattata had slipped over. Bulby would probably end up doing the same if he went charging and that wasn't going to help anyone. "Yeah, you're right," he agreed with a smile, pointing a finger at Rattata with his next words, "Let's stick to what worked. Vine whip again!" This made Bulby smile, and he turned to look at the Rattata, "I actually got a piece of something for you. Have a taste of this!"

The wild rat sneered as the vicious barbs and verbal lashing from the Bulbasaur continued. <Aww, aren't you cute? A nice little lab grown Pokemon who has no idea what it is like out here. Sure, go cozy up to your human back at the house on the hill, real cute,> Jealousy? Perhaps, but on a certain level, the wild Pokemon wasn't exactly wrong. Starter Pokemon typically had the good life, being cared for by the Professor until the right human showed up to take them on an epic journey. Meanwhile, this poor Rattata and other forest Pokemon were stuck in the freezing cold, scrounging for food. Rattata's tail moved back and forth, trying to catch the attention of Bulby and get the grass type to lower its guard. That would be the prime opportunity to strike. However, before the wild Pokemon could enact its plan, the sharp tipped vines of the Bulbasaur came back, slapping away at the legs, back, and face of the rat. <Would you knock that off!? It hurts!> the rat screeched, trying to catch one of the vines in its mouth so that it could give a good bite to the grass type. The wild Pokemon was getting mad now, and angry wild Pokemon were even more unpredictable and dangerous than content or mild wild Pokemon. Benny would have to be careful. Bulby's smile broadened, and he huffed confidently back, "Yes I am cute." But the words from Rattata after that, dripping with venom, pierced the ego bubble that Bulby had built for himself. Obviously, the air didn't completely blow out of him, but it throw him off. The rat wasn't wrong. He was raised in a lab and had only known the lab and the previous man's kindness. He knew what it was to have food whenever he had needed it, what it was to remain warm and content. This Pokémon didn't know anything about that. Did this mean that Bulby was weak because he didn't know what it was to survive out in the harshness? He shivered a little, and not just from the cold this time. But he refused to be brought low by some rat. "No," Bulby said out loud, more to himself than to Rattata, and felt a surge of rage push back against the cold grip of the other Pokemon's words, "I'm still the beautiful and best Pokémon that I've ever met, and you're gonna learn that today!!"
Outside this exchange of poke-talk, Benny watched as his Bulbasaur successfully knocked the chattering Rattata with another vine whip. He was able to wince a little less at the poor Pokemon's pain this time. This is what it was to be a trainer who did what needed to be done to train and grow. But something about this whole thing felt off to him. Why wasn't the Rattata attacking? And why did Bulby seem to be growing more flustered as they battled? Benny bit his lip, knowing full well all this excitement over thinking the Rattata was black colored had distracted him somehow. He had to have missed something. Taking a deep breath and trying to concentrate, Benny narrowed his eyes at the pair through the snow. "The way its moving its tail," he murmured quietly to himself about the rat Pokémon, before turning to look at Bulby's reaction to it...
"No, I can't stop. I told you I have to prove a point," Bulby shot back at the Rattata telling him to stop. Still, he was also starting to feel uneasy about the way that Rattata moved. Something was throwing the grass Pokemon off. "Would you stop doing that thing with your tail? It's really weird," Bulby requested, a little less confidently. He turned to his left to get the view of the tail wagging out of his sight, not realizing he was opening up a easy target on his side for the normal type. Benny realized it though. He remembered a lesson from school about Pokémon using their tail to trick other Pokémon in to opening up their defenses. Rattata had been doing this all along!
"Watch out, Bulby!" Benny called to his friend, shoving his hand into his bag to pull out a Pokeball. He had to think fast before Rattata did some real damage to Bulby. The rat Pokemon had taken a fair amount of whips at this point that it might be worn down. Benny was going to try to catch it!

The wild rattata at last saw its opportunity to get back at that gloating, coddled lab grown house pet. After wiggling its tail a few times, the naive little plant would be too distracted to put up proper defenses. That meant, now was the perfect time to lunge forward as fast as it could— Time seemed like it slowed down as the trainer called out for it foe to watch out. It looked up, attention drawn to the human and the flying projectile that it couldn't divert its course away from. The rattata tried to skitter sideways but its momentum was driving it harshly forward into the blinding light of fate itself. The rat crashed into the pokeball that the trainer threw and light sprang forth, swallowing up the jealous rat in an instant. The ball dropped into the snow and wiggled. Once, twice, thrice. Then it fell silent and still. Apparently, the little rat was too tired to fight its way out of capture.

Time seemed to slow for Benny as well as he watched the pokéball sail through the air toward the rattata. A million thoughts ran through his mind. Would it actually hit rattata? Would it stay in the ball? Would this just be another failure marked up on his list? Thankfully, his toss hit the target, and he stared with a strained face as it fell to the snow and began to shake. Once, twice, a third time... the light went out and the ball sat still. For a long moment, Benny sat there staring, still as a stone statue, until his right arm shot up and he let out a loud, "Yeessssss!" The sound startled Bulby who had also been watching the silently in anticipation. The bulbasaur had never seen this sort of thing in action and he didn't know whether to be just as excited or shocked at the whole thing. Or disappointed. Did this mean that the nasty rat was going to be part of their team. Benny did not share the same disgust. "We did it! We caught a rattata!" he exclaimed, remember last time he had all the trouble catching any pokémon and had just gone through his journey with cyndaquil alone. This time he had a team. "Isn't this great Bulby?! You did such a great job," Benny exclaimed, racing forward to pick up the ball and patting his bulbasaur on the head. Bulby certainly liked the compliment, and gave a flick of his vines on the side of head like another hair flip. "Well obviously I was great," Bulby purred, though something about the compliment from his trainer made him feel real good, helping him to forget that they were being joined by that stupid rattata. After the excitement started to fade, however, Benny and Bulby both started to shiver again in the cold night. "Maybe we should hurry and get to Cherrygrove real quick," Benny suggested, putting rattata's pokéball away, and throwing his arms into the pocket of his hoodie, "We can get rattata healed up and buy some items. Plus, I'd love for you to see my home. Warmer for you to get in the pokéball too." Before his bulbasaur could argue, he zapped Bulby back up and hurried off into the night. ------------------- While it might still be cold, Benny was thankful for the sunlight of the day now that they were back on Route 29. More than that though, he was extremely happy with the turn of events after having gone to Cherrygrove. Not only had he healed up his pokémon and stopped by the pokémart, a bunch of people had turned up for him in an amazing way. Everyone seemed to remember how hard he had it last time that they wanted to make sure he was well prepared. His parents had provided a wonderfully calm sandshrew, its demeanor something that definitely helped his more anxious nature. His oldest sister Christina had sent a quaxly since she was on business in Paldea, and his other sister Melissa had sent over a bidoof she had caught on her own journey. And lastly, one of his good friends who had become a breeder gave him a sweet little purrloin she had bred recently. Who wouldn't feel a bit more confident after that, especially knowing he had caught his own pokémon for the first time as well! Things were really going to look up... or so he had hoped. The only problem that came now was when he had decided to let bulbasaur and rattata both roam, he realized there was a wedge stuck between the pair since their battle. "Yeah well maybe you think you're so great because you haven't been out in the wild? You wouldn't last a day out here," Chompers hissed at the bulbasaur, grinding her large teeth in anger, and stepping a bit closer to the other pokémon as they all walked down the route. Bulby's cheeks puffed up in his rage, and he shot back, "Can you move back over? Your wildness stinks and I think you still got some of that gross all over you from when we ran into you. Do you remember that, where we lowered our standards to take in a creature like you stinkbreath?" Benny let out a deep sigh, watching the pair chatter at each and tensing when they started to draw closer together. He had hoped that maybe they would just come together and be a team after everything, but his dreams were obviously dashed. And if these two started before they could get back to New Bark to pick up the pokédex, things were going to go sideways fast. After a second more of the two chattering at each other harshly, Benny crunched his foot hard in the snow and snapped, "Would you two please stop?! We need to get along." The two pokémon jumped, as if they had forgotten Benny was even there, and then turned both of their heads angrily away from the other. Honestly, it was about as good as Benny could ask for. This whole thing was, as usual with him, starting to make him flustered. And the bad thoughts were creeping in again. Where last time he failed not gaining any new pokémon, this time he'd fail having a team that wouldn't get along. But at least they were being silent now, and he could watch out for any danger. That was... until Bulby murmured a soft but rude, "Nasty rat," and then the pair were right back to arguing again.
OOC: Watching for more encounters! Time is now midday if that's ok. Can I please also have sandshrew and bidoof moved to Benny's team? Then I'd like to go ahead and move Scatterbug to the box. Also can Bulby be updated to lvl 8 and with Growth? And if someone could add my items from the Cheerygrove shop <3 Thank you!! Here's the code for bidoof and rattata if I could have those updated. The start to Chompers life was in a deep winter snow. She lived a life that was cold and harsh, and she had to cling to her beliefs and ideas to make it in the world. Survival has always been key and she has a hard time believing that good things are coming. She often hordes as much food she can when she gets it, takes a lot of time to warm up to others, and will argue anytime she feels like someone pressures her to think any other way than how she thinks. But ultimately, a patient, loving person will win with her in the end and will respond if someone shows that they won't betray her, and cares for her. BidoofName: Strider Gender: Male Level: 13 OT: Leilani Keoloha Moves: Headbutt, Roll Out, Defense Curl, Growl Ability: Unaware Nature/Personality: Serious. Bidoof was a hard worker of the dam back before it was caught. He repaired them making sure his family, friends, and colleagues all had a safe place for them to stay. While he may seem unaware most times, he still has enough sense to want to get the job done and he'll work hard to do just that. He doesn't get jokes a lot, doesn't get pranks, so he often isn't laughing much and instead keeps a straight, if not derpy, face on at all times.

The weak sun was shining through a thin layer of clouds, the refrozen half melted snow from yesterday slowly began to melt and made the ground even more slippery than yesterday. Ice with a thing layer of water on top? You better be surefooted! What would otherwise have been a calm day was disrupted by the two arguing pokemon, which was a challenge a lot of trainers faced, and a shattering of the blue-eyed view of the trainer job, that pokemon who had just been almost enemies suddenly were expected to be the best of friends. Team work takes a lot of work, which Benny and his pokemon were about to learn. A spinda, a rare sight on the route came stumbling along, following the sound. Where other wild pokemon were challenged by the cold and the lack of food, this one was doing surprisingly well. It had some good contacts when it came to things like that, it helped being cute. It grinned as it come closer, it sounded fun! Sounds were fun and it had a knack for it, or at least to mimic others when they did it. Stumbling and looking like it had no direction and was about to fall every second step, it managed somehow to make its way over the slippery ground without falling a single time. "Nasty rat!" It mimicked Bulba and hit is tone of voice and expression pretty well, then it repeated Chompers' retort with the same precision and looked expectantly at them to either see their reaction or hoping to get more to mimic. It didn't have much patience though and quickly added something itself to keep the argument going, "you are nothing but a house pet!" it accused the bulbasaur and pointed an accusing finger at him while stumbling drunkingly several steps to the right. The spinda spun around itself and waddled a few steps forwards Chompers, "mange pelt!" It certainly looked like it was about to tackle Chompers as it stumbled forward looking like it had lost its balance. Spinda [Lv 3] tries to join the argument. Weather will be Chinook (slippery)(ooc: pokemon moved and updated. Purchase in Cherrygrove Pokemart will be added when someone handles it there, my apologies that it has been missed and not on the modlist, I'll try see if I can get around it today) Shiny: 2MlE5_lDp_1-421-42

After falling last night, Benny was more cautious with his movements. The watery earth was far too slippery to be playing around today and he was not taking his chances. Chompers was used to this environment so she knew exactly how to manuveur through it as well. But poor Bulby was more unaware. Taking the wrong slip, the bulbasaur took a very slight tumble, catching himself quickly but not fast enough for Chompers to miss. "Nasty huh? Well at least I'm not the loser tripping over himself," she shot back at the grass type, laughing which sounded like sharp chittering. Bulby, of course, did not like that at all and the angry blush that went across its light green cheeks showed it. He opened his mouth to retort a response full of belligerence, when suddenly--
Benny let out a small gasp, seeing a pokemon he'd never really seen before stumbling toward them, and waited to see if it would fall over from the slippery ice. But, with ease somehow, the creature seemed to be able to keep itself just on the edge of tumbling over, like some kind of tight rope walk on solid earth. The spinda also did not go unnoticed by the two arguing pokemon either. Bulby was the first to look over, hearing his own voice being repeated back at the rattata but from a distance. If he had eyebrows, one of them would have rose in confusion, though his brow bone did mimic the act just about as well to show his confusion and disdain. Chompers then snapped her head in response to the noise and also heard her own voice coming from the stranger. That's a cacophony of noise erupted from the pair.
"Excuse me, what do you think you're doing?" started Bulby. "Uh uh, not cool," followed Chompers. "Just because we talk this way to each..." snapped Bulby. "...does not mean you get to talk that way to us," finished Chompers, gesturing with a paw at Bulby and herself. "Drunk panda." "Yeah, ya look stupid." "Eat glass and choke."
At the last part, Chompers chuckled and shot a grin over at Bulby. "Alright house pet," she remarked at the grass type, mimicking the spinda now, "I'll handle this one." While she had only seen one before, she had faced a spinda in her time and she knew this area far better for maneuvering than the bulbasaur did. Bulby nodded his head in return, his own face with a smile but still with a little bit of a challenge to it. "After you, rat," he spat, taking careful steps back to give them room. Obviously, the arguing wouldn't end here, but for now it felt good for both of them to have a common enemy they could focus on.
Benny watched this whole interaction with blinks of confusion, but got the hint that Chompers would be taking the lead when she stepped toward the spinda. Shrugging, he was happy to see they at least weren't fighting over who was going to take on the fight. "Alright, Chompers, let's do this," Benny chirped, before pointing a dramatic finger toward the intruder, "Let's start with a quick attack!" The rat pokemon chattered her teeth together and then shot forward, hoping to slam the spinda and knock it off balance.
[OOC: Starting encounter with a quick attack from Chompers
Also sorry about that. Thought the items was another thing to add in to OOC.]

<Eat glass and choke!> Mimicked the spinda, still copying what they were saying. The rat slammed into the spinda and sent the little dizzy bear whirling. It seemed to be losing its balance, falling back, but somehow, it managed to stay upright on one foot and caught itself before its backbend could turn into a fall. It was almost artful how the spinda moved. Wobbling and swaying, unsteady yet composed as it bumbled about. <After you rat!> And then it bowed its head and started to run forward, catching up to Chompers before he could turn around and slamming into his side. It was a glancing blow. Obviously this spinda wasn't very strong and was mostly just copying what it had seen happen. It staggered back and went back to watching them. <Ya look stupid!> Maybe watch what you say if you don't want this copy cat to mimic what your words, Chompers.
