Haruna sat a chic cafe while crossing her ankles and thinking. The spring breeze was warm and ruffled her bangs. She wore her woolen scarf loose but otherwise kept her navy blue uniform-like outfit the same: navy, white, and black from top to top. She had her cap sitting on the small round table in front of her.
Since she'd just taken a shower, she'd yet to become a victim of hat hair.
The late morning sun sprinkled out of the clouds, flickering rays of light onto the tall buildings' roofs. Windows sparkled brightly as if this urban city were a magical place, granting wishes and making dreams come true.
Last night, Haruna finally parted with her squirtle, Dupin. Although they were only together for a day, and she'd never planned to keep him, she still felt guilty about it. If she'd known the Johto Starter Lab was only giving out Kantonian starters now, she would've made other arrangements. Perhaps she would've gone to Hoenn to get a mudkip and then travel here.
She could've secretly bought one, too, or had her brother do it for her.
"Your coffee, sir," said the waiter, placing a cup of coffee in front of him.
"Yes. Thank you," replied Haruna in her deeper "manlier" voice.
She poured several packets of sugar in it and stirred. She chose to drink coffee to look more like a hard-line detective, but she always had a sweet tooth.
She pulled out her leather-backed notebook and popped it open. It was black, matching her attire. Inside was a list showing her ideal team of pokemon. She'd been struggling to get it down to a mere six-member squad, but the versatility of pokemon made that difficult.
Last night, she bought a meditite. She also got into contact with her brother, who sent her a peculiar "lovey dovey" purrloin and a "Halloween" shuppet.
Taking her list, she slowly crossed out sneasel and murkrow since the purrloin could fill in their positions. Depending on the cat's sense of smell, Haruna would consider crossing out the houndour as well. She checked off the meditite and shuppet. Then, she reluctantly scratched off the clamperl and chingling, who she mostly wanted because they were cute. She had to be serious and couldn't waste time collecting cute pokemon. They all had to have practical roles and jobs, and she couldn't waste time on more than six pokemon. She wasn't going to be some collecting maniac, and having more than six was hardly fair to the ones she had to take care of. How could she give all of them enough attention?
Haruna took a sip of her steaming coffee and placed it back down on its plate. The porcelain made a lovely ching with the contact.
Now, she had seven pokemon listed: meditite, shuppet, purrloin, skarmory, houndour, noibat, and tadbulb.
Feeling relieved, she paired the skarmory and noibat together. She decided she only needed one of them. In the meantime, the meditite would be her fighter, the shuppet would be her sneaky ghost, the purrloin would be her scout, the houndour would be her hound, and the tadbulb would be her warning sign...
She already had three team members.
Dressed as a boy, she sat there and continued taking notes. She wrote down details of where the pokemon were and how to find them as well as what moves would be most useful and so forth.
She was so lost in her focus, she didn't notice anything going on around her.
