As Marchbaby quickly made his way through Ecruteak it was not long before he reached the start of route 39 where he had heard a Pokemon he was after was recently spotted along with the known location of another Pokemon he hoped to add to his collection as well. It was also a better place to train for the next gym so he could kill 3 birds with one stone if luck was on his side. One of the Pokemon he was after was notorious for being hard to capture so he knew a visit to the Pokemart might be in order if he did not get lucky pretty quickly as his stock of Ultra Balls was starting to get low.

" I sure hope we don't have too much trouble, I have a small supply of.Ultra Balls but those can go quite quick with a bad string of luck. At least the Pokemart here sells more if we need them. I do need to buy some healing supplies soon as well just in case any of the gyms nearby give us some issues so I cannot splurge too much on just Ultra Balls." As he was in a bit of a hurry to start his search in the area he decided to press his luck with his current supplies and hope they would last for the time being.

The sun was shining brightly overhead and a strong breeze was blowing around the route that would certainly benefit any Pokemon that relied on the wind for speed so if all else failed Tumbles would be able to get around even faster than usual. The bad news was she could easily blow away so he knew keeping her safe in her Quick Ball was the best option to prevent her from being blown clear to the moon. Though training her was not an option most of his other Pokemon were an option to use and he had a feeling Vör and Stella would be seeing quite a bit of use in the near future.

" Alright everyone keep your eyes open for any strange Pokemon. Vör is fimilar with one of the two we are looking for but the other one is one even I have only seen in books and on television. If we run into either we need to be ready for anything as I know both will put up quite a fight when we try to capture them."

As the Flaaffy appeared from the tall grass Marchbaby saw it as the perfect opportunity to use Mama as she would be immune to any of it's electric type attacks while still being able to try and capture it without causing too much damage. In times like this he was glad she had a coverage move that would not do super effective damage as Flaaffy when they evolved into Ampharos were no joke when using electric type attacks. He knew that any dragon type that did not resist electric type attacks would regret getting hit by them and having one on his team to go along with Shocker was far from the worst idea he could have.

" Ah quite a nice find here, though this is not the Pokemon I am truly looking for it is still one on my list to capture if I can. Shocker could certainly use a partner electric type so that it won't be stuck doing all the heavy lifting against flying and water types. Mama you will be perfect for this but do not fall for their cuteness, even as a Flaaffy they can hit pretty hard with any of their ranged attacks. Their physical attacks are less impressive but still keep your guard up just in case, they cannot use electric moves against you effectively but I am sure it has a few other surprises to make up for it."

As Mama lurched forward Marchbaby already had a plan in mind to try and weaken the Flaafy without knocking it out as Mama's Crunch would be super useful in this battle. Not only would it keep minimal distance from Flaaffy to make ranged attacks harder it was also unlikely to knock the wooly Pokemon out in a single blow thanks to Vibrava lacking the power of stronger dragons and this particular Flaaffy looking quite tough. Still Marchbaby did not want to take any huge risks giving the electric type any chance of pulling off an upset so he still had a few other options if his initial plan failed.

" Mama try and stay as close as you can after you strike, the less space that Flaaffy has to move around the easier it will be to capture once the time is right. Speed is one thing it is not known for so you should be able to close any gaps it is able to create quickly. Do not let it get too much space and use your Crunch to weaken it."

The first round had gone just about as well as Marchbaby could have hoped. Not only did Mama score a direct hit she avoided taking any damage or being paralyzed as well. Only a critical hit could have made it even better but Marchbaby could never complain about so much going right and now that Mama had gained the upper hand he had to make a tough call, either weaken it further risking Flaaffy knocking itself out from recoil damage or toss a Ultra Ball now despite it still having quite a bit of health and a high chance of escaping.

Neither choice was as clear cut as he would like but as they were not too rare to encounter in these parts he decided risking more damage was worth the risk to maximize the chance of capturing it if things went his way. Using any super effective move was out of the question and so was Outrage as such a powerful move would certainly be too much for it to handle now leaving him with Crunch as the only choice he could have Mama use with minimal overall risk. He took a deep breath and paused for a moment as the gusting wind swept across the battlefield before he gave his orders.

" Great work so far Mama, that last round really went our way, Flaaffy still looks like it is pretty healthy though so I think we need to cause a bit more damage before we try and capture it. Try your Crunch again and then maybe it will be easy enough to capture." As Mama then prepared to strike her foe a second time Marchbaby reached into his backpack and grabbed an Ultra Ball hoping to use it if this next round also went his way. His stock was running thin so the less risks he had to take the better.

As soon as he had the ball in his hand he kept a close eye on Mama ready to toss the ball as soon as he had an opening and he knew he would not have any chance to weaken Flaaffy any further after this round with his own attacks. He would have to get a bit lucky but if he was able to adding a Flaffy to his team would be well worth the time and effort this battle had taken. He just hoped lady luck would not have other plans this time.

As the next round came to an end it did not go as well as the first round had but it was far from the potential disaster it could have been. Mama being paralyzed was the worst news but as Flaaffy was low on health he could not risk having her attack it again anyway so he just needed to get lucky with one of his increasing low supplies of Ultra Balls. In the meantime Mama had not taken any damage so far so she could easily act as a target to draw the young Flaaffy's attention while Marchbaby kept trying to capture it until he either ran out of attempts or managed to get lucky with one of his attempts.

" That round was not so good for us but do not lose heart Mama, you have weakened that Flaaffy quite a bit, now I just need you to keep it's attention for a little while. Thankfully that Take Down missed so we should have a few tries to capture it so long as you can keep it busy. As you are Paralyzed right now I do not want you to attack it further but try and flap your wings to attract it towards you. If you can keep it distracted it should be easier to capture." He then turned towards the young electric type quite impressed by it's resistance so far.

Though it had not been as easy to capture as he had hoped he knew that his chances of getting lucky had to be pretty high at this point. Flaaffy was quite tired from the battle and Marchbaby had brought some of the strongest balls he could get his hands on so he knew he had a very good chance if he could just get lucky once. He wished he could risk doing a bit more damage to make it even easier but he knew trying his luck with Ultra Balls was the only option he had without risking this encounter being for naught.

" Let's see if lady luck will be on our side this time, go Ultra Ball capture this Flaaffy!" He yelled as the ball traveled towards the wool covered Pokemon. Mama kept a close eye out just in case she had to leap forward to protect Marchbaby though she also hoped this time their luck would be better so she would not have to risk getting ran into by the fuzzy pink menace across from her.

Luck was far from kind as the Ultra Ball completely failed to capture the Flaaffy despite it being so low on health. As bad as his luck was at capturing the Flaaffy he did get lucky with the Flaaffy's next attack as it attempted to use an Electro Ball which Mama easily shrugged off without taking any damage as her ground type protected her from the attack. So long as the sheep Pokemon kept making that mistake Marchbaby did not have to worry much but he had serious doubts that it would make the same mistake frequently so he hoped this next round would grant him better luck.

" Boy that round was not great either but I do suppose it could have been worse. Thank goodness Flaaffy made a big mistake in choosing Electro Ball as it's attack or else we might really need to start worrying. I really regret not having any useful status moves about now but that is something we will have to fix later. At the moment all we can do is keep trying and hope we can get lucky soon." He then reached into his backpack and grabbed another Ultra Ball getting ready to toss it at the brave electric type.

Considering both the type disadvantage and level disparity Flaaffy faced it was putting up quite a good fight. Marchbaby never dreamed that it would be this hard to capture but if he could add this brave creature to his team he knew it would make a fantastic partner for Shocker and if he evolved it he remembered hearing about Ampharos having a mega evolution that was part dragon type that he might be able to make use of as well someday so the pricy investment of Ultra Balls was worth it if luck was finally on his side again soon.

As he closed his eyes for a moment to focus he took in a deep breath and then exhaled before lining up his next throw hoping that this one would finally seal the deal. " Go Ultra Ball capture that Flaaffy." He yelled as the spherical device flew towards it's target. Marchbaby crossed his fingers and hoped for the best knowing that he would need at least a small amount of luck to capture this Flaaffy. If this one failed he would have invested quite a bit with nothing to show for it and he knew that he could not afford to keep trying forever.
