So I'm curious if anyone else decides upon a theme or two when planning out your team's? For example, here are a few themes I've followed in the past during my various playthroughs: - Team Fluffy: What started as a Normal-type monotype run transitioned into Pokémon who simply looked fluffy, with key members being Wooloo, Whimsicott, Swirlix, Volcarona, Minccino, and G-Max Eevee
- Nocturnal Team: Inspired by the various bat Pokémon, this team was largely dominated by Crobat, Swoobat, Noivern, G-Max Butterfree, Noctowl, and Nidoking (honorary "land bat")
- Dual Color Team: Inspired by Stunky and Skuntank's purple and cream being their main two colors, I built a team of Pokémon with similar emphasis on just two colors, such as Abomasnow, Bunnelby, Liepard, Meowstic, Meowth, and Azumarill among others

Interesting question you pose. I know this isn't exactly imaginative, but I mostly just stick to monotype teams myself. Why? Well, it's mostly because if I try to do anything else, I end up having an extremely hard time settling on just six Pokemon for that team. Ya know what I mean?
Although, in the interest of full disclosure, I did have an idea for a crustacean themed team once upon a time. Kingler, Crawdaunt, Crustle, Clawitzer, Crabominable, Golisopod, Klawf, etc. Why? Simply because I really like crustaceans. I think they're very cool creatures. I mean, do I need a reason beyond that?

Nah, I definitely understand and have the same struggle with deciding upon just six or so Pokémon. Speaking of which, I've found myself being inexplicably drawn to Ground-type team's. Any monotypes you find yourself preferring?

Any monotypes you find yourself preferring? Well, as you can see with my three OCs here on ZZ, I've already got monotype teams for Poison, Bug, and Fighting. So, yeah. I prefer those three. I did consider making teams for Dark and/or Dragon types as well, but the Pokemon I would've wanted for those teams proved to be too difficult to obtain on ZZ. Tyranitar, Hydregion, Druddigon, etc. I did think about making a Ground type team myself once too. Plenty of good Pokemon there for sure. Garchomp, Rhyperior, Donphan, Steelix, Hippowdon, Swampert, Krookodile, and my personal favorite, Gliscor.

Usually I don't raise an entire team - only enough 'mons that I have adequate type coverage to beat the Champion - but the last theme team run I did was in Pokemon Sun: an entire team based on the main characters of the anime Kill La Kill, based on the similarity between Lusamine and Kiryuin Ragyo's appearances.
The team ended up being Incineroar, Tsareena, Toxapex, Magnezone, Oricorio (Pa'u), and Kommo-o.

Vartio has what I deem an "Aura" themed team. And I usually built for something like it when doing a playthrough of the games. His belief is Aura has 5 key components that are 'different' from all other types, which embody the physical, and thus more to the core of the energy pokemon use: Fighting - The energy of stamina/the body. Psychic - The Energy of the Mind. Ghost - The 'Soul'/Spiritual Fortitude Dark - 'Emotional' Energy Fairy - The energy in 'Belief'.

Crow doesn't really stick with one team or one kind of pokemon only, since the whole point of his character is that he can make any Pokemon powerful, though, there are few quite obvious things he leans towards, both kinda insinuated by his name: flying types, as a bird keeper and dark types, as a member of team rocket. Otherwise he catches everything that will fit into a pokeball and uses whatever he feels like.
