Night had finally set in upon the Cherrygrove which as the sleepy town was apt to be during such a time, rather empty save the occasional straggler or homeless busker wrapping up their final performances upon the sidewalk.
A lone figure however strode with a sort of contemplative ease through the darkened streets, dimming lights from the many posts lining the streets highlighting the shining, feral eyes of her small entourage even though her own features were unrecognizable from a distance.
Up ahead was their seeming destination, the familiar blue-tiled roof of the local Pokemart which seemed to have stood the ravages of time and trainers absolutely thrashing the place during half-off sales.
The glass doors swung open with a lazy creak as Hale Callahan breathed a rattling sigh of relief upon realizing that the establishment had not closed down for the night just yet even though several lights had been turned off in some of the aisles.
"Well fellas, look sharp. We've got quite a list on our hands now, and I'll need your help stocking up, aye?"
She said cheerfully to her motley group of Pokemon who were looking around the many shelves lined with goods with a sort of childish interest---after all, this was their first time here, and she hoped they were well-behaved enough not to tip anything over.
Grabbing a nearby basket, she allowed Allegra to playfully hop in for a ride as she patted the Sentret fondly.
"Alright you little scamp. You can help me organize the things while we shop. Jericho, see if you can find where the Pokeballs section is. Faust, we'll need a few status-healing items, so see if you can find that. Havoc, Gunther, come with me. We'll check out the Potions stack over there."
Both the Meowth and Charmander nodded as they scuttled off to find what they needed while Hale eased herself into one of the nearby aisle, checking out whatever stock was left-over from the day. Her lips pouted in deep thought as she dug out her wallet to make a rough guess of how much she was going to be willing to spend at such a place.
"Well, business has been good I suppose..."
She murmured as she pulled out a wad of cash and thumbed through it methodically before setting it aside. Her little gig as a Cuchulainn freelancer was paying rather well, if nothing else.
Jericho and Faust came scampering back, the latter to a distinctive crash as they held a stack of items in their hands. The fiery lizard's tail had knocked over a stock of Potions as he slapped his forehead and handed his things to his mistress before attempting to set the bottles of medicine back into place.
"Good job you two. I guess we'll take a few of these and two cases of that."
Hale picked out what she needed and handed it to the Sentret to made a show of arranging it neatly.
"We could use a bit of those as well.."
Done gathering the essentials, she decided to let loose and pointed to the snacks section.
"You lot've worked hard so go ahead and grab a little something while I tally this up, eh?"
They didn't need to be told twice as they shot for their respective favorites, leaving her to draft up some numbers and head to the counter with the supplies in tow.
"Good evenin' to you."
said the girl cheerfully as she unloaded the items onto the cash register area and hand a small sheet of paper to the person at the counter.
What it detailed her hand script was as below;
POKEBALLS x 5 = £500
GREAT BALLS x 5 = £1175
POTIONS x 5 = £525
SUPER POTIONS x 2 = £400
FULL HEALS x 2 = £500
REVIVE x 2 = £1000
TOTAL = £4100
"I hope that covers it?"
Placing the exact amount of the total written in bank notes upon the table, she set aside the things and softly whistled for her team to congregate back near the cashier.
Each of them held a little treat in their paws; A pack of Beef Jerky for Faust, Chocolate Pocky for Gunther, a bar of Cadbury's for Havoc, a tin of crackers-and-tuna for Jericho and a small bag of pink marshmallows for Allegra.
"Here's an extra £100 to cover for that. Never mind the difference, I'm sure you could use a cup of coffee or two on the side."
said Hale as she added a few more bills to the total amount so it came up to £4200 instead.
Then she loaded the things into her backpack, allowing the Pokemon to keep coveting their items.
"No bags please. We're fine."
Faust wasn't even out of the shop yet when he began to chew on a stick of Jerky with a most pleasurable look on his face as he moaned accordingly and staggered off in a dream-like state to follow his mistress, much to the amusement of his comrades.
"Come along boyos. We best be off to the inns before they run out of vacancy!"
Hale warned them as she held the door open so they could exit without too much fuss. She then saluted the owner of the store crisply before taking her leave as well.
"Pleasure doin' business with ye."
