Pokémon found in Ethereal Lake Note: Pokémon levels range from 8 to 15. Ethereal Lake is a pristine body of water spanning the north-west quarter of Ilex Forest. Its water is renowned for its purity and clarity. Under a clear night sky, the surface perfectly mirrors the celestial heavens and under a bright morning sun, the lake is placid and as still as a sheet of glass. Water-dwelling Pokémon can be found in abundance, in and around the cool waters of the lake. Sandy breathed as she finally stopped by the lake. This was one place she hadn't been on her way to Goldenrod before, and its beauty was...well, breathtaking. She looked down at Muru, who seemed to be talking in the beauty of it as well. The lithe young vixen flicked her tail, but didn't disturb the silence. Sandy took another look around, but at first glance, it seemed like nothing was wrong.
"No...I know I felt something...I have to find out." She ushered Muru over to a tree, and sat up against its trunk, swinging her bag to her front and pulling out a book. She'd wait, that was all she could do. Muru gently rolled Berry off her back and into the grass so she could snooze comfortably next to Sandy. She then pushed between Sandy and the book and laid half her body in the girl's lap. Sandy fidgeted for a moment but then got comfortable.
She placed one of her hands on Muru's back, making gentle stroking motions down her fur to soothe her as she used her other hand to hold the book up so she could read, only stopping from petting Muru occasionally to flip a page. Muru soon drifted off into a sleep herself, but Sandy was a little more awake, determined as she had been before to figure out what was so...attracting about this place.
--Staying here, need an encounter with Flora's Ghost to start the Quest.--

Ilex Forest had a great number of many unique locations found within its myriad trees but there was none quite so as special as Ethereal Lake. Very little other sections found in Ilex had water running through them, let alone a grand lake of its own. Oddly enough, the lake water itself seemed to glow with a strange fluorescence that became ever so visible as night rolled in. There was also a peculiar sense of belonging here. Many people had reported that by merely setting foot in this particular inclusion of the forest that their worries were sapped away as carefree as the gentle ripples on the lake surface, similar to what Sandy herself was experiencing right about now. But what many people failed to realise, was that this unearthly feeling was caused not by the majestic scenery nor the ethereal lake itself but rather the area's inhabitant. That of a young female ghost who had since become one with the forest in more ways than one. " Saaaaaaaandy..." A sing song voice whispered off in the distance. "Saaaaaaaandy..." Again, it whispered out, almost as if nearer and homing in on the sleeping trainer. "Saaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnddddyyyy..." The voice was now much more audible but that may have been due to the fact that the source of the voice was now standing half submerged in the lake next to where Sandy had decided to take a rest. Tilting her head from side to side, it was clear that this was the spirit of a young girl. Her innocent appearance and bright, glowing aura conveyed a sense that she wasn't malicious in the slightest. Unsure of how the spirit girl knew of Sandy's name, she continued on in her gentle, soothing tone. " Oh caring soul... I sense your kindness. Please, for the sake of a suffering creature, seek to repel the evil that has taken root in this forest." The way she spoke, it was almost as if she knew of what this supposed evil was but she continued on. " This forest was once under danger from deforestation. Evil men came and conspired to destroy the forest's sanctuary." Looking down at her rudimentary reflection, the spirit continued on explaining her story. " But one day, their attempts began to falter and it wasn't long before they were either vanquished or fled in terror." Looking back up, she held her hands together in front of her chest and had a look of concern on her face, her ethereal like appearance waning slightly. " However, the hatred and anger that these evil beings left behind has corrupted into a vile force of their own, intent on harming those innocent living in the woods." Moving to the side, a gentle push from out of the darkness saw a large lilly pad float forward with a desperately ill looking creature lying on it, panting away heavily as if struggling with the very act of breathing. Sadly looking into Sandy's eyes, the spirit girl continued on. " Extend your warmth and care and quest to save this dying Pokemon... Poisoned by the ills of the dark souls, they have fallen ill and their time grows short." Certain that Sandy would be willing to help such a Pokemon in distress, the spirit took a few paces back and pointed silently at the lake water inbetween them. By some mysterious trickery, an image of a shrine deep in the woods appeared before them. " Only the Forest Guardian may cure such an insidious toxin." Spinning her hand gently above the image, another one appeared, one of absolute terrifying impact. It once again showed the shrine but what was more upsetting was a green glowing orb that was imprisoned by what can only be described as the darkest of shadows, impenetrable by light itself. " The leader of the evil men has taken the Forest Guardian prisoner with the meanest of stares." Falling silent, she gently span her hand around again, causing the water to convey another scene, this time of a tree possessing a piece of paper in a desolate valley. " To combat the spirit, you must travel to the melancholy valley and seek out the cleansing art." Her eyes taking an intensity unlike anything she had glanced at with Sandy before, she made it very serious that the scrap of paper was paramount to solving this predicament. " Only with the seal may you vanquish the evil that grips Ilex and save this poor creature..." Stepping forward, she had one last bit of advice to fully prepare Sandy for the gruelling task ahead of her. " Beware the fog... The spirits of evil men long since dead still haunt every inch of this forest... If you are encountered by one, exorcise their unholy energy before they force you to succumb to the same poison." About to open her mouth to utter another word, she turned around abruptly, fear stalking her eyes. An insidious cackle sounded off in the distance and added urgency to the girl's eyes. " Begone... Hurry... You must defeat the spirit... Go...!!" All of a sudden, a harsh gale swept through the lake, causing her spirit to disappear into thin air and the tranquillity of the lake to spoil. Remaining was the suffering creature lying on the lilly pad. Considering the news of the forest being haunted, it seemed like a bad idea to leave it on its own and would be prudent to take it along in order to get healed as quickly as possible.

Sandy? She hadn't honestly noticed that she had been asleep. The book she had been reading was strewn on the grass, and she slept nestled against the cold bark of the tree she was leaning against. It wasn't until something called out her name that she once again became animated, waking up and shivering, the sudden flailing of their trainer also waking up Muru and Berry as well. Getting up, Sandy moved closer to the ghostly spirit that rested over the lake.
People were supposed to be afraid of ghosts. It was just...natural to be afraid of something that you didn't understand. But Sandy by now, was more or less intrigued by the appearance of the young girl's spirit. Was this who had been calling her into the forest? Most definitely. As she spoke, Sandy listened to her with intent, Muru and Berry on either of her sides, trying to comprehend everything that the ghost was saying.
"Deforestation? Wow...that's hard to believe considering that this place is so lush..." When she pushed the huge Lilly-pad out of the darkness, Sandy's eyes fell upon a miserable scrap of a creature that was resting upon it. It was small, a very pale color that almost look white with how sick it was, and any glimpse of its crimson eyes were dull as it looked like it was struggling to keep them open half the time.
"Oh..." Was the only surprised kind of noise Sandy could make as she covered her mouth. Its condition was enough to tug at her heartstrings for sure. She reached around to her bag and pulled out a blanket, lifting the creature as delicately as possible from the Lily-pad into the warmth and protection of the blanket.
"It's too cold for it to be sitting there like that..I hope that you'll trust me with its protection, I just don't want anything-" she quieted as the girl spoke again, asking her to travel to a melancholy valley..now, where was that around here? she stood up, the Pokemon wrapped carefully in the towel, and stepped back as the spirit urged her to go.
"I understand. I'll help it, don't worry." she assured the girl, looking down at the sickly Pokemon in her arms. She turned and returned Muru and Berry, deciding they needed a rest before breaking into a run. She had to hurry, and she'd have to try her best not to get lost.

Coming from the Majectic Grove. As Marchbaby and his pair of Pokemon continued down the path off in the distance a lake came into view. Marchbaby was getting pretty excited as this must be the lake he had heard legends about back in Blackthorn. The young man knew that this was the perfect time to go and visit the lake as it was night time. He knew that if there were any ghost around that this would be the time for them to be out and about. He had never seen a ghost in real life before outside of ghost type Pokemon so he was really hoping the rumors would be true so that he could say he had seen a real ghost. Marchbaby decided the best thing to do would be to walk along the edge of the lake as it would allow him to look in the water to see if he could see anything. The young man walked along the waters edge with both Pokemon behind him looking for anything that was out of the ordinary. After a brief pause Kamikaze took notice of something near the water and tried to tell Marchbaby about what she had seen but he did not even notice as he was too focused on trying to see the ghost for himself. As Kamikaze got rather annoyed that Marchbaby was not paying attention she decided to poke him again to try to get his attention. As her claw poked his stomach the young man screamed out in pain as her claws were like razor blades when they came into contact with flesh. " Kamikaze what in the world is wrong with you did I not tell you before to please watch where you put those claws of yours. I do not want to get sliced in half by them as I like being alive." He said to her before he turned around to make sure Shellshocker was still following him. As he turned around he was filled with absolute joy. In the middle of the lake there was what appeared to be a blue specter heading his way. He was so glad to see that the rumors of a ghost in the lake were true but something did not seem quite right. The spirit seemed to be very upset about something as she flew towards him and he got ready fearing that the worst was about to happen. Kamikaze got her claws ready to attack the spirit if it turned out to be evil but she waited to see what it's true intentions were before actually attacking. As Marchbaby tried to keep his heart rate from going to the roof he was barely able to contain his excitement as the ghost began to speak. Most people would have been scared half to death but Marchbaby was excited to see the spirit and he just had to listen to what she had to say. As she spoke the young man could tell something was not very good at all as the spirit seemed to be very upset about an evil energy possessing the forest which is probably what he had felt earlier at the shrine in the forest. He was a bit nervous as the spirit spoke after hearing about the evil energy but he knew he could not turn down helping the spirit no matter how dangerous the quest. He listened as she told him the history of the forest and of the evil men who had tried to destroy the sanctuary in the forest. Marchbaby had never heard of that part of the forest's past and it intrigued him. He was just about to ask how he might be able to help when the spirit continued to speak. The fact that the evil energy from the men years ago still lingered in the forest beyond the shadow of a doubt convinced him that it was the energy he had felt earlier when he visited the shrine. What she said next nearly broke his heart as Chikorita was his favorite Pokemon secretly and hearing that there was one suffering from the evil in the forest he knew he had to help. As he learned that a cleansing act would be required to help the Chikorita he just knew he would have to find it no matter where it may be as he was not going to let the Chikorita die if he had any say in the matter. As the spirit disappeared he had learned that the fog in the forest was dangerous and that evil spirits may try to get in his way but that did not worry him much. Kamikaze was at his side and she just loved to torment misbehaved souls and these sounded like the perfect targets for her to punish for what they had done. He was going to make sure that Chikorita would be saved no matter what got in his way and Kamikaze seemed to agree with him as she had a worried look on her face. " Oh great spirit you have my word that Chikorita will be saved no matter the cost. As a dragon apprentice of Blackthorn I shall not fail in this quest." He said hoping the spirit would hear him. Continuing on to the Cypress Rest.

-coming from Majestic Grove-Finally seeing a lake, he felt relieved that there's finally a resting spot, away from the trees. Putting his bag down, he released all the Pokemon from their Pokeballs, and gave them food to eat, as well as food for himself to eat. Then, after refueling himself, he sat down and rested his legs for a bit. He noticed how big the lake was, and decided to toss a fishing rod to the ocean, to see if there would be wild Pokemon here. After all, he haven't really caught anything in this forest. He also let his Pokemon play around in this area for a bit, if not resting. -Fishing using my level 5 fishing skill and old rod- -waits encounter- -not starting the chikorita quest yet as Alex didn't see anything yet-

When Alex arrived at the quiet lake, there were no wind to disturn the surface of the water. The early evening sun made the lake seem golden, though it was still clear and easy to see the bottom of it, even where it was several meters deep. Where the surface of the lake was calm and steady, there were plenty of life deep in the water, and Alex would be able to see them swim around down there, though the golden light made it difficult to see what species it was, that was zooming around down there. As Alex's lure hit the water and broke the glossy surface, something else was disturbed, though nothing became visible. A little, cold breeze swept over the area, but otherwise everything stayed silent, really silent. Alex's pokemon would be able to feel that something had chanced and something spooky was around, even if Alex wouldn't notice himself. If he did, he would quickly be distracted as the lure disappeared beneath the water and it soon tucked in the line as it tried to break free. The fight would be swift and easy, for Alex at least and a moment later a little heart came flying out of the water to land in the swallow water and finally broke free from the line and it looked around in awe like it hadn't been above the lake before. A Luvdisc |leve 8| is amazed by the view. What will you do? Enounter is here(ooc: fishing level increased by +1 = 6 in total)

After Alex had successfully capture the Luvdisc, he returned every remaining Pokemon back into the Pokeball. However, after he had wear his backpack and about to leave the place, he could feel something creepy about this forest. Perhaps it was because it was dusk and approaching night time? Would those reasons alone be enough to justify his feeling of being in the middle of a horror movie?
He stood still and remained quiet, turning his head and body to look all around, in all directions. He couldn't see anything moving or suspicious. There couldn't be an axe-murdering ghost in this forest. Then, what was it? It was so quiet, and silent right here.
He sighed a breath of relief, and just at that moment, something was coming out of the water.... A girl with long hairs?

Alex's notions about the forest were correct. As dusk approached and the hour grew later and later, the moon's light seemed to cast dark, sinister shadows all around the boy. In the center of the lake, a few ripples seemed to surface, catching his attention. The shadows grew longer and seemed to snake their ways to Alex's ankles. However, before the sinister tendrils of darkness could reach the boy, a young girl began to rise from the water, glowing with a ethereal haze. The light from the moon and the light illuminating from her body shone bright, stifling the shadows before Alex could be harmed. Her calm voice could be heard through the forest, and definitely to Alex, but her mouth hadn't opened.
Alex... Alex...
The voice repeated. The woman with long hair began to float above the water and across the lake until the girl was face to face with Alex. As she approached, lily pads and water Pokemon followed her. Once close up, it was easy to deduce that the spirit was that of a young child. I could sense your caring soul. You have a strong aura, and a gentle presence. Please, dear one, I need your help. This time, the girl's voice didn't reverberate through the forest. Now her lips were moving, and she was directly speaking to Alex.
A dark, sinister shadow corrupts this forest, and has kept our dear Guardian at bay. Without the power of the Forest Guardian, there is little we can do for the sick Pokemon corrupted by humans and this darkness alike. As she spoke, one of her tiny hands gestured to a lily pad. As she gestured, it floated forward to reveal a Chikorita. It's breathing was ragged and shallow. Occasionally it twitched, sending a rippling spasm of pain through it's body. I have been watching you as you wandered the forest. I was hoping you'd come here, and that you'd help the forest, and this poor Pokemon. I fear this dear Chikorita does not have much time left. The child's voice wavered.
Please, Alex, you must travel to the melancholy valley, and seek out the art of cleansing. Only then can you truly banish this evil presence from the forest and save the Guardian, and in turn, save this poor Pokemon. She crouched down and brushed her hand across the leaf of the Pokemon. It couldn't open it's eyes due to weakness, but the sigh hinted that she'd given the Pokemon a bit of relief for the time being. It is very important that you do this for the forest, and the Chikorita. And for yourself. The child's words hung in the air for a few moments before she picked up the Chikorita to hand to Alex.
There isn't much time! You must go now. Beware the spirits, and beware the fog. It will cling to you like a plague, and weigh you down until you are nothing more than hollow vessels, cursed like the spirits that haunt this forest while the Guardian is away. You must hurry! It was paramount to heal the Chikorita as soon as possible, so taking it with Alex was the best idea. Even if he had been hesitant, there was not much he could do about it now as she shoved the creature into his chest. Fog seemed to rise from the lake, and the girl, now hands free, opened her arms and with a flash of light, expelled the darkness. I will do what I can from here. But you must defeat this evil. Go!

As the girl was rising from the lake, the scenario was getting a bit creepy and terrifying for Alex. After all, he wasn't one for horror genre or supernatural. If his hobby includes ghost story, then this may be his thing, but right now, not at all. He could feel his heart pounding fast, and his palms getting sweaty. But hey, aspiration is good to excrete body waste, right? He stood still, unable to speak or move any limb, even after the dark tendrils were gone from the lake lady. Or rather, the lake girl. As the girl was speaking and gesturing, she revealed a Chikorita that was in some kind of pain that couldn't be cure by running toward the nearest Pokemon Center, which was probably too far away. Was he supposed to still believe in curses and hexes? He was too scared at the moment to think about this, but he did thought about it afterwards. Before he could even think about to say yes or no to this strange request, the Chikorita was shoved onto his hands. At least it was a grass type Pokemon, something that he would care about, but had it been a different Pokemon type, this may turn out awkwardly. With the Chikorita in hand, and basically remember something about cleansing some ghost business, Alex began brisk walking through the forest. He was walking through the forest again! He was hoping he won't get lost and the Chikorita passing away, that would be bad. -going to cypress rest-

Coming from the Majestic Grove
As they reached the Ethereal Lake it was pitch black as night had fallen. As they reached the shore of the lake they began to look around for strange occurrences of any kind and sure enough a blue strobing light appeared near the center of the lake before slowly making it's way towards Tyler. He could not confirm if it was all in his head or if it was a spirit heading his way but Mania was ready just in case things went sour. She had the right type for the job but at the same time they did not want to waste energy on something unless they knew what it's intent was.
Before he could even open his mouth however the blue light began to materialize into that of a young girl. She did not appear to have any iil intent at all and despite his better judgement he decided to allow her to approach without having Mania attack. She could have easily torn the spirit to shreds in a moment however if the spirit had any valuable information it might be worth seeing what she wanted instead of just resorting to violence. Just knowing the rumors were true was quite exciting to him.
" So the rumors are really true, spirits do really live in this forest. Good that must mean this forest is home to far more than most people realize. I could make quite a killing if I find any Pokemon of here that are worth raising. Most of the ones I have seen here are not worth much but maybe you might know of some rarer ones here?" As he waited for a response he thought of what else he should ask while he was here. After all the trouble he went through to get here he hoped there would be something worthwhile the spirit would know.
" Anything at all that you might know would be a huge help after all the hoops I had to jump through to get here. This forest is a giant maze and I would hate to have gone through all of this for nothing more than a chat with a spirit." He then crossed his arms and looked at Mania who was still unsure over the whole ordeal but knew that there were not many other options for them to pick as up until this point the forest had been nothing more than a ghost town.
