- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - June swept in with the motivation of her promised reward doing wonders to improve her outlook. Her bleary eyes were annoying her, the wetness dampening her cheeks growing quite irritable as the battle wore on. She struck out at the pesky Diglett before fluttering out of counter-attack reach, scowling as the mole emitted a grating shriek from the blow.
Landing by Ashton, she puffed up her chest and seemed prouder for fighting through her temporary disability. "Astraea, darling, perhaps you can learn something from me. A natural born, non-human raised fighter learns many tricks in their lifetime. I wasn't raised by soft-hearted humans, like you," June rasped as she slanted a look at her rival, the Squirtle merely rolling her eyes.
Her spiel to Astraea cost her as the Diglett took this time to burrow under, reaching her before she could react and lashing her with some form of unseen claws. Feathers scattered about from the stricken spot on her body, the Spearow's face a mask of shock; the mole seemed perpetually stuck in the ground, how could it have done such a thing? Astraea smacked both paws over her face, stifling her laughter.
Ashton seemed just as perturbed as June, but shook it off with more ease than his partner. "No time to dwell on the absurdity of that... attack. Let's try to wrap this up with another Peck, alright?" he said, committing his attention to the battle in full. The Diglett seemed pretty out of it at this point, so hopefully June was still inspired by his earlier promise. A rasping cry answered him as she took flight to attack yet again. The sight of the spearows shocked expression made the tiny mole giggle before the pain was to much and it winced, quickly returning to it's place far from the spearow as possible at the moment while it quarreled with it's team mate. When it was all collected and had another attack ordered to it, the spearow was up and into the air heading for the mole.
Oh please just let the pain be over the mole pleaded knowing in all ways possible that there was no way to dodge this attack. The sand it had propelled to remove the birds accuracy was settled even though it's eyes still watered a little it knew that it's time was up. With the bird feathers away the mole closed it's eyes. It felt the powerful beak spear it's skin again and quickly it's body was limp and would not move another muscle.
As June pulled it's beak from the mole's body it shook it's head and returned to the sky to land on Ashton's shoulder and glare down at Asteria before as it ran it's beak through it's feathers in pride of it's success. Wild Pokemon Battle

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "I rise, you fall." June swept away from her fainted quarry with her pride radiating from every feather, wings fluttering as she perched on Ashton's shoulder. He didn't recoil from the contact, rather embracing it as he used his opposite hand to scratch her head. "Nice job Junebug. I need to stop at the Center for something, but your reward will come right after. Promise," Ashton said to the Spearow, a pleased squawk given in response. He looked back at his assembled Pokémon and recalled them, then June herself, and sighed, tucking his hands into the pockets of his pants. Looking at the slightly cloudy sky, Ashton seemed to be deep in thought, the beeping of his PokéGear startling him from his reverie. There was a gift waiting for him, apparently, and a crooked smile flashed across his face. The best things in life really were free. - - - - - - - - "So she thought this would be funny? I'll get you back, T. Mark my words."Ashton was staring at his new addition, a little yellow lizard native to his home region of Unova, Scraggy. This one seemed a little out of it, staring at him without blinking, a little sliver of drool slipping out one side of its mouth. "The hell are you staring at?" the model demanded, glowering at the expressionless Scraggy he'd named Scintilla. "Hell!" she repeated, seeming pleased with herself. Rolling his eyes, Ashton recalled the weird Scraggy and ran a hand through his hair, hoping she wasn't stupid when it came to battling. His manager had told him to enjoy his day of freedom and relax, which meant squeezing in training for the youngest members of the team, being Scintilla and Anahera. Striding out of the Center, the model wandered back out to the wilderness surrounding the city, choosing to keep close in case of the weather going freaky on him again. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

It really was a beautiful day. Though it was the midst of winter, the sky was a clear blue with the sunlight streaming down to warm the cold earth. Snow was slowly melting under the sunlight, but not enough warmth to turn it back into water. A young Mareep was wading through the snow, muzzle close to the ground as it searched for food. It let out a small, pitiful bleat as hunger rumbled through its stomach. Its hooves pawed at the ground, digging through the snow to look for tasty green grass. Since the frost had killed most of the grass around here, food was hard to find. Digging, the Mareep let out a bleat of happiness when it spotted a few strands of green fronds buried underneath. Without hesitating the hungry sheep ripped out the juicy fronds, savoring the succulent flavors as it chewed. Swallowing, it scuffled through the snow, looking for more. However, the Mareep couldn't find any. Head drooped down, the Mareep began to trod again when it suddenly spotted a Trainer. The Mareep's tail began to wag happily. Perhaps this human has food! After all, the Scraggy that accompanied the Trainer looked well fed. Hunger made this Mareep reckless as it let out a delighted bleat and charged towards Ashton. "FOOOOOD!"it cried, dashing towards the Trainer. Although the Mareep's intention was to ask Ashton for food, its reckless running might send the wrong message.A food crazed Mareep (Level 7) appeared!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ashton toyed with his jacket, the light wind rather brisk. He looked around the snow-covered landscape, marveling in how pretty it was with no people around. Sometimes he almost regretted growing up in the city, never seeing these kinds of views on a regular basis. The lack of people made everything much more serene, allowing him to relax. He released Scintilla, allowing the Scraggy to adjust to the winter air.
She sneezed, looking at Ashton with a grumpy expression; why had he brought her out into such cold conditions? Perhaps he possessed precognition, as something she could interact with came hurtling towards them. Ashton heard a loud bleat and turned, amber eyes going wide when he saw the charging Mareep. "That look.. Sweet Zekrom it's rabid! Get away from me!" the man yelped, scurrying backwards.
He glared at Scintilla, who had remained still, staring at him. "Don't just stand there you dumbass, protect me!" he snapped, hiding partly behind a tree. To his surprise, Scintilla moved forwards to intercept the incoming Mareep, her eyes alight with determination. (Huh. I guess her favourite thing to do is battle.. She doesn't look like a brain-dead moron at least..) Before he could speak, Scintilla had picked up a snow covered rock that was wider than herself and hurled it in the air. She leapt up with surprising agility and pummeled it with her head, sending chunks flying everywhere in an attempt to stop Mareep.

Mareep’s reckless dashing had indeed sent out the wrong message. It was initially puzzled when Ashton decided to hide from it but Scintilla’s glare made it clear that these guys weren’t willing to share their food. The wool Pokémon was both annoyed and frightened by their behaviour. It started to slow down a bit, knowing that it wasn’t welcome here.
It wasn’t until the shards of a rock began to bombard it that Mareep realised what was happening. It let out a loud shriek and started to run around in circles. A large rock struck the sheep in the face, knocking it off its feet. As Mareep pulled itself back up, Scintilla noticed a vein pulsing in its head. The electric-type was livid that it had been attacked without warning. It hadn’t even been given a chance to explain.
It didn’t take Mareep long to come to a decision. It would make Ashton and his team pay for what they did. It was now planning to take their food by force. Seconds after it lifted itself off of the snow-covered ground, the sheep charged carelessly at the Scraggy, crashing forcefully into her stomach. Scintilla was forced back slightly but the attack didn’t seem to have done as much damage as Mareep was hoping for. Battle

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mareep may have been angry with being attacked without it being given a chance to explain, but Scintilla was enraged at its weak Tackle. How could she become stronger and mightier when she was pitted against such dismal opponents? The Scraggy puffed her chest out, paws on her sides while she sneered at the woolly sheep that stood before her. Ashton seemed perplexed by the range of emotions scrolling through her eyes. ( She... REALLY likes to battle.. that's a good thing I guess.) The model wondered if he should call out an attack for her to use, hesitant to do so after she'd used a move he wasn't sure Scraggy knew naturally. Mareep seemed to have taken good damage from the Rock Slide, but if he wanted to get away from the rabid creature, they had to speed things up a little. Clearing his throat, he called out to Scintilla. "Use Leer!" Scintilla raised an eyebrow but obliged his request. Slinking close to the Mareep, Scintilla pulled her trousers to her face and approached her opponent in an almost shy manner. Only her eyes were visible, and they were cast elsewhere as the lizard came in close. When the sheep's guard was down enough, the Scraggy would drop her pants from her face and give the poor Electric type a mini-heart attack from what Scintilla hoped was a terrifying expression. The Scraggy lifted up her sagging pants, squaring her shoulders before glaring daggers at the Mareep. Scintilla's eyes seemed to glow red as they glinted with malice. The sheep felt itself freeze in place, shivering from head to toe as its eyes locked with the Scraggy's. The Mareep let out a fearful bleat, taking a few paces back in fear. Suddenly, a loud rumble broke the silence. Both Pokemon were somewhat startled. Suddenly, the weird sound came again, eminating from the Mareep's stomach. The sheep blushed slightly, but it had remembered how hungry it was. Driven by hunger, it seems the Mareep was determined to stay until the Trainer gave it food. "FOOOOOOOOOOOD!"the Mareep bleated loudly, sounding what appears to be its new battle cry. The electric sheep pawed at the ground and charged forward. Before Scintilla had time to react, the Mareep bowled the Scraggy over. For a second, the Scraggy felt herself get a mouthful of wool before being sent skidding back a few feet, gasping in pain. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wild Pokemon Battle! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Scintilla rasped in laughter as her Leer did the trick, startling the Mareep and causing it to scamper backwards. "That's right, Scintilla put the walking sweater in its place!" the lizard harrumphed, crossing her skinny arms. Her cocky attitude didn't win her any brownie points with the food-starved sheep, who knocked her down with a rather painful Tackle. "Biiiiiiiitch who you messin' with!?" Scintilla growled, rubbing her torso while fixing Mareep with another glare.
Ashton had ducked behind the tree again, terrified the sheep would barrel past Scintilla and come after him. If it didn't bite him, the potent electricity he could hear crackling in its wool from his hiding place was sure to screw up his carefully coiffed hair. Scintilla looked back at where her trainer was standing, wondering what the hell he was scared off; it was just a hungry, and therefore very stupid, Mareep. Why he was acting like it wanted to devour him was beyond her comprehension.
Realizing his partner was waiting for him, the model demurely poked his head out from behind the snow-streaked trunk and gave her a sheepish smile, his amber eyes still wide with fear. "My apologies, Scintilla. How about another Rock Slide then?" he called out to her, rather amazed when she shrugged, found herself another hefty boulder to make use of, and repeated the process of hurling it up and ramming it with her head. (Scraggy really do have hard skulls.. no wonder she's not that bright, nothing can really penetrate something that thick.) [/blockquote][/blockquote]

VS.-------------------------------- No matter what, it wouldn't give up. It needed to eat, it needed the precious food that Ashton had, and it needed it now. Scintilla seemed to have the upper hand...for right now. The Mareep held its head high, scowling slightly at the young Scraggy before charging. It wasn't quite sure why it had the mouth it did on it, but on it's route, nothing even came as close to swearing as much as this thing did. The charge continued until the Mareep slammed into Scintilla, sending her backwards. Though, the rock that had been broken tumbled down on her in smaller but painful flecks, rock specs becoming stuck in its fur as it struggled with getting up again. It felt tired, and the lowered defense it had didn't help matter. But, there was so much to be won if it could win, so the Mareep still wasn't ready to give up. It was panting heavily. Scintilla was sure wearing on its nerves, but that wasn't about to dissuade the young Pokemon at all. It held its head high once again, challenging Scintilla to come at it once again. It was ready for her tricks, both that she had used on her, and those that she hadn't yet put into practice. It wasn't going to let a little pants lizard stand in between it and its survival. --------------------------------------------- A Wild Pokemon appeared! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Hit me all ya want, niggara, my thick skin means you can barely leave a bruise!" the Scraggy chortled as the Mareep collided with her once more. Scintilla was starting to feel a little sore, but being part Fighting type meant she was physically tough. Or perhaps it was because of her Dark type side, which may or may not have contributed to her colourful vocabulary as well. Either way, the upper hand belonged to her here.
The chunks of rock she'd shattered with her head came flying down all over the place, hitting her opponent and drawing a wide grin to the lizard's face. Ashton remained behind his tree, not wanting to draw Mareep's attention away from Scintilla. He closed his eyes as a few stray pieces of rubble clattered against the cold bark inches away from his face. Exhaling a plume of cold breath, the model noted the wild Mareep's exhaustion, sensing a hopeful victory.
"One more time Scin!" Ashton called out to his Scraggy. Giving him a raised fist in acknowledgement, she began rooting about in the snow to find another rock to use. It left her open for another attack by Mareep, but she needed to find one to finish off the woolly sheep anyways. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

The Mareep could feel dizziness beginning to settle into its mind as the combination of its wounds and hunger took its toll. Bleating pitifully, the Mareep tried to shake off the fatigue, pawing at the ground as it prepared for another attack. Head bowed, the electric sheep began to charge forward, but exhaustion slowed it down, giving Scintilla enough time to find a sturdy rock under the snow. Before the Mareep could reach her, the Scintilla threw the rock up into the air and lept after it. Giving the rock a well-aimed kick, the boulder smashed into pieces that rained down upon the Mareep. The sheep let out a terrified bleat as the deluge of rocks smashed at its pelt. One particularly large shard managed to smack the Mareep on the head. With a large lump forming on its head, the Mareep keeled over and fainted. Wild Mareep has been defeated!Congrats! Scintilla has gained +3 levels. She is now level 8! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Scintilla inspected the Mareep once the battle was settled, prodding the unconscious beast and jumping when she was shocked. Ashton cautiously advanced out from behind his tree, gazing down speculatively at the unconscious sheep, nudging it with his booted foot. "Scin.. mind dragging it into those bushes there?" the man asked, rolling his eyes when he noticed the Scraggy's eyes being completely glazed over. "Good lord you're retarded," Ashton muttered, pulling on a pair of gloves.
He cautiously grabbed the tail and slid it across the snowy ground, pulling into the bushes before stepping back and reaching into his bag. A few croissants he had taken from the breakfast buffet were lain right night to the Mareep's head; hopefully it would revive and eat them before something else came along and gobbled them up. Ashton recalled Scintilla, muttering about her uselessness before moving well away from the area, not wanting to be subject to any more rabid assaults.
It was still early in the day, so there was no point in returning to the city. If he wanted to be protected without the ability to have human bodyguards, then training his Pokémon was the only option left to him. Sighing bitterly, Ashton kicked the snow as he walked around aimlessly, hoping something would save him from his cold, self-imposed torture. (And I sure as shit hope there's nothing else with rabies waiting for me...)

Traversing along further, it would be perhaps not rabid wildlife that would be the most worrying of Ashton's concerns. Sounding off in the distance, a sound of a whirring noise filled the sky around them. It didn't sound the least bit like a Pokemon. It was mechanical. And whatever it was, was drawing ever closer. Something was approaching... Please hold tight for the interim.

The sound had been hanging over the head of Ashton for a while now, fading in and out, becoming as irritating as a buzzing fly which wouldn't disappear. The driver of the helicopter had circled the boy from afar whilst the female passenger examined the handsome male through a pair of heavy duty binoculars. Pulling them away from her eyes, she wore a sinister smirk, a single thumbs up suggesting the driver to descend since they had successfully found their target. Blowing the snow off the tips of the trees and whipping up clumps from the ground, the vehicle didn't quite land but instead hovered in the distance, a lone rope being tossed out and a black blur swiftly leaping out and abseiling down to the ground. Feeling her boots crunch against the white snow which had cloaked the ground, Sharada had to move fast. A single click and spin of a clip on her harness and it came right off, a simple signal of a safe arrival to up above and the helicopter took right off.
Now it was time to get down to business.
Swiftly turning on her heel, the brunette moved straight through the cold, her black and red outfit being a complete contrast to the pale wilderness around them. Luckily she hadn't lost track of her target, Ashton Reid, who was seemingly walking straight towards her, also. Perhaps the landing hadn't startled the model that much, since surely he would've experienced such things himself. Or maybe he was intrigued with this abrupt landing and odd stranger. Regardless, besides a few key words she knew nothing about this male and being a hidden double agent, she wasn't thrilled to be taking part in this task to begin with. Needing to steal from the innocent was unnecessary but necessary for her not to get her cover blown. Reaching into a small pouch attached to her belt, she pulled out a single cigarette and lit it up after a bit of wrestling with the wind. Silent, she was still blocking his way forward, puffing out smoke like a small volcano.
"You there!" She eventually blurted out, eyes narrowing as the chilling wind decided to blow the cigarette smoke right back into her own face. "Ashton Reid, correct?" Not even giving him the chance to confirm his identity, the piggy tailed brunette pulled a lone Pokeball from her belt. "I hope you ain't had a bad day, because it's about to get a whole lot worse for you." Tilting her head to one side and smirking, she held forward a hand loosely as she explained, "You see, Team Rocket has had their eye on you, you have something we want. And that's exactly why I'm here." Sticking the cigarette in the corner of her lips, the lone Rocket grunt tossed her Pokeball forward, an uncharacteristic, overly hyper active Darumaka emerging, dashing around the brunette's ankles whilst hopping up and down, cackling with a sort of childish innocence to him. Her eyebrow giving a uncomfortable twitch, she pushed aside the reaction of her chosen Pokemon before continuing, "No doubt you're the type of guy to fight back, so I wont bother asking if you'll just hand over the goods quietly and walk away... Umaro. Be prepared to use Headbutt on whatever this pretty boy uses, understood?"
Rocket Grunt Sharada is demanding a battle! Sharada sent out Darumaka to get things started.
