Cherrygrove City might not have been all that big but Terri had somehow managed to find a whole new wardrobe in the few shops that sold clothes. She’d been forced to analyse every last accessory since the city didn’t have the same range of designers as Goldenrod. However, her experiences on Route 29 had completely destroyed her last outfit and it could be days before she found another city. Strangely enough, the teenager was pretty pleased when she looked in the mirror. The clothes she had chosen mixed better than she’d been expecting. Smiling to herself, Terri went to dispose of her previous attire.
She felt a lot calmer today, especially now that she was over the most recent events. She’d finally gotten a hold of a Corphish, a Pokémon she knew from home. On top of that, her nightmare in which she had become a Pokémon had thought her a few things, despite how much she regretted helping out Fennel. Best of all, she’d finally gotten out of Route 29 which had driven her insane. She didn’t even want to think about the few incidents there. “Well, I ain’t got any more money to spend so I guess it’s time to leave this spot!”
Still smug about her new appearance, the girl made her way outside. But as she reached the door, her face dropped. Outside, an icy rain began to pour. “Ugh, you gotta be kiddin’ me!” A frown quickly spread across her face as she stepped outside. Her clothes would be drenched but she couldn’t just wait around. Cherrygrove lost its charm pretty quickly, especially when you’d marched back and forth to every shop multiple times. “Screw this, I got stuff to do!”
The streets seemed relatively quiet, probably due to the weather. Terri began to jog slowly, doing her best not to slip. The streets were pretty icy due to the rain so sprinting was out of the question. She’d just have to live with her clothes getting damp. If she was lucky, she’d find some sort of shelter that wouldn’t prevent her from making progress. As far as she knew, Violet City was close by. She wasn’t sure how her Pokémon would compare to a Gym Leader’s but winning a badge would definitely make her look good.
As she looked around her, Terri realised that Cherrygrove was finally behind her. A signpost caught her eye, confirming she was on Route 30. “Looks like I’m headed in the right direction...” she mumbled to herself. She examined the path in front of her and noticed it was split into two parts. “Ugh, how the hell am I supposed to know which way to go?” Terri groaned. She began to reach for Edwina’s Poké Ball but changed her mind as a thought struck her. “...I guess it prolly makes sense to take the track that looks more worn down.” she decided, heading towards the less-friendly looking path. It was a lot more complex than the other path and the ledges didn’t look too safe but Terri had a feeling she was still on track.

The icy rain pouring down from the sky didn't exactly ease the mood of this Mareep. With a sad bleat, its muzzle scuffled the ground, hoping to sniff out a few strands of juicy grass that hasn't shriveled up from the frosty weather. However, its search for edible food failed and the Mareep decided to give up and go back to its den on an empty stomach. Head hanging dejectedly, the Mareep started to head back when the sound of footsteps alerted it. Snapping its head up, its eyes spotted Terri and it let out a curious bleat. Its eyes was mostly concentrated on the clothes she was wearing, instantly recognizing the soft material. Alarm flared through the Mareep's eyes as horrifying thoughts entered its mind. It had heard of humans capturing Mareeps and shedding off their wool to make winter coats. Was this human that was approaching coming to hunt it down for its wool?! The Mareep's heart rate was skyrocketing at this point as it started to panic, thinking its couldn't survive on an empty stomach and be bald throughout the rest of winter. With a terrified bleat, its wool began to crackle with electricity, glaring at Terri as she advanced towards it, warning her to keep away. Wild Mareep (Lvl 8) appeared! Terri didn't notice the Mareep at first as she steadily maneuvered herself across the icy ledges. It was only when she caught sight of the sparks of electricity that she realised a Pokémon was approaching her. “Piss off, I'm busy!” she hissed but the terrified creature was in too much of a panic to realise she wasn't interested. She was only headed in its direction because it was the safest route forward.
When the Mareep's wool continued to emit sparks, Terri groaned, realising that she'd have to scare it off if she wanted to pass. “What the hell are ya doin' standin' around anyway? There's not even anythin' here!” Terri shouted, realising that the ground was completely covered in ice and light snow. “Ugh, Ollin, sort this out!”
The Snubbull materialised from a flash of light that came from Terri's bag. Terri slapped herself in the face as the bulldog slipped just seconds after being released from his Poké Ball. “Ollin, we don't got all day! Now get up off your ass and do somethin'!” the girl ordered, putting the Snubbull under pressure for time. It was bad enough that it was cold and slippery outside but her new clothes were getting soaked from the rain just hours after she'd bought them.
“What can ya do again?” Terri asked, trying to recall their earlier battles. Ollin began to point at his teeth. “Oh yeah! Bite! Knock 'em dead, kiddo!” The Snubbull steadied himself on the icy ground and made his way over to the Mareep. He could tell that the electric-type was afraid of them but he knew that if they ignored it now, it could try to attack when they had their backs turned. It was better to get rid of it now while they were prepared.

The Mareep pawed at the ground nervously, its eyes widening in fear as the human still refused to leave. It let out another bleat of warning, the static around its body starting to spark even more. The sudden appearance of the pink bulldog made the Mareep flinch. The sheep's tail began to flick nervously but the sheep refused to back down. Ollin wasted no time dashing forward towards the electric sheep, jaws agape and showing off his razor sharp teeth. The Mareep let out a cry of shock as it tried to dart to the side, but its hooves stumbled across the slippery ground. Taking advantage of the Mareep's momentary distraction, the Snubbull lept at the Mareep, though he nearly slipped off his feet himself. However, he managed to latch his teeth into the Mareep's wool to steady himself. Before the Mareep could escape his grasp, the bulldog quickly crunched down past the soft wool and sank his canines into flesh. The sheep let out a howl of pain and retaliated by making its wool crackle with electricity, shocking Ollin right in the mouth. Ollin let out a yelp of pain as the electric shock was enough to release his grip on the Mareep, who quickly pranced away before Ollin could resume biting it. Ollin let out an angry growl at the Mareep and tried to give a chase, but a strange, paralyzing current still remained from the Mareep's previous attack, causing the bulldog's movements to be hindered. --------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- Wild Pokemon BattleWeather = Rain

Terri shivered on the spot as she watched her Snubbull assault the sheep. The rain still wasn’t easing up at all and her clothes were beginning to stick to her. The teenager clenched her fists when she saw the Mareep was still standing. She was sure one Bite attack would’ve been enough to scare it off. “Ollin, what the hell you playin’ at? We gotta get movin’! I’ll lose it if I have to look at thing for another minute! Finish the job!” Terri shouted at the canine, trying her best not to get directly involved.
Ollin could tell that Terri was close to snapping. She’d been in a good mood ever since they’d arrived in Cherrygrove and if he wasn’t careful, that would soon be coming to an end. The clumsy Snubbull moved towards his opponent as quickly as he could, intending to finish the job with one final attack. “<<Stupid paralysis! ..Ugh, is that...the best...you can do?!>>” he taunted the Mareep, struggling to get the full sentence out. His status ailment was a nuisance which reduced his speed abysmally, but that wouldn’t stop him from winning the battle.
Now that he was paralysed, there was no reason for the fairy to hold back. The static emitting from Mareep’s wool couldn’t affect him any further. Terri’s eyes followed the pink Pokémon as he dragged himself over to his opponent. “Ollin...I know it’s slippy, and I know you can’t stay on your feet for five minutes but can you not try going just A LITTLE FASTER?” Terri placed the palms of her hands over her eyes, unable to watch her Pokémon any more. If he didn’t knock out that Mareep this time, he was toast.

Unfortunately for Terri, Ollin couldn't go any faster. The rain and ice, combined with his current paralysis, had slowed him down significantly. The Mareep seemed a little put off by the weather as well, but it seemed much less clumsy than the Snubbull. In fact, it had started to move long before Ollin had even managed to prepare his attack. Sparks ran along the Mareep's fur and it angled its tail to point at Ollin as a large spark shot from the round ball at the end of the sheep's tail, striking Ollin squarely in the chest and knocking him off his feet.
Groaning, the Snubbull staggered back to his feet after a few tries. Sliding across the icy ground, Ollin somehow managed to move, even if he did topple over a few times. Eventually, he was close enough to bare his fangs and bite down hard on whatever was closest. Which happened to be the Mareep's tail. Bleating, the sheep ran a few quick circles in an attempt to get Ollin off before collapsing.

Terri lowered her hands from her face when she heard the foe whimper softly. To her relief, the electric-type had flopped down onto its side, unable to continue battling. “Ugh, that thing was driving me crazy,” she declared, calming down now that the sheep was out of the way. “C’mon, let’s move out, kiddo. We gotta get out of this rain.”
Ollin trailed behind Terri, watching intently as she passed the Mareep. He was almost certain she was going to kick it for holding her up. To his surprise, however, she continued walking, more concerned with making progress. “<<I thought for sure that would have set her off. There’s no way she can keep this up,>>” the Snubbull muttered to himself, quite confused by his trainer’s ability to keep her cool. When he looked up, Ollin noticed that he’d started to fall behind. “<<Looks like I’ll have to worry about this later,>>” he decided, rushing to catch up. Terri was pretty good at climbing and manoeuvring around the ledges while Ollin’s clumsy nature made it difficult for him to keep up.
When she finally turned back, Terri rolled her eyes. “Oh, come on! Ya don’t expect me to carry you!” she called back at the fairy, stopping for a minute to allow him to catch up. “We gotta be gettin’ close to Violet City by now,” she decided, checking around for signposts as she waited for the bulldog to make his way up to her. In a way, the icy rain had actually helped speed things up. The interruptions along the way had been kept to a minimum. Most trainers and wild Pokémon were more concerned with finding shelter than challenging her to battles. If only she’d been so lucky back on Route 29. Regardless, she couldn't really complain now that things were improving.

It was true that the rain pounding down from the darkened sky kept most of the wild Pokemon away from the open. Most of them preferred to stay in their dens until the cold and wet would eventually pass away. However, there are a few who didn't exactly worry about catching pneumonia out in this rainy weather. One such was an avian, and a colorful one at that. Not to mention, it had a bit of a mischievous attitude today. Its beady eyes instantly spotted Terri and her bulldog making their way up the slippery ledge. The bird let out a snicker, seeing the bulldog struggling to get a grip on the icy ledges as he tried stumbling after his Trainer. A smirk etched up on the Chatot's beak as it observed the struggling Snubbull. Perhaps this bird could make the bulldog's moment a bit more....exciting. Unfurling its wings, the Chatot took flight, soaring straight towards the pink bulldog, who was too preoccupied in getting up to the next ledge to notice the speeding, colorful bird flying straight towards him. When the bird was right above the Snubbull, its beak opened wide and let out a screeching note that startled the Snubbull. With a yelp, Olin lost his footing on the ledge and his stubby arms flailed, struggling to balance himself. In the last second, he managed to grip onto the ledge with his paws, sinking his claws into the rock to prevent from slipping off while his heart pounded a mile a minute. The Chatot let out a whoop of laughter. The sight of the frightened bulldog sure made its day. Wild Chatot (Lvl 7) appeared!Weather = Rain

Just as it was beginning to look like Terri would make it to Violet without any further interruptions, a winged creature that sort of resembled a music note rushed straight for Ollin. Terri swung around as she heard the pink mutt let out a shriek. Her face had become a bright red and she was shaking quite unsteadily. Other than the parakeet’s obnoxious chuckling, everything had gone dead silent. The girl scooped up a handful of snow and violently tossed it at the Chatot, narrowly missing it. “If ya don’t get the hell away from him, I’ll personally ensure that when you leave here, you’ll no longer enjoy the ability of speech, ya sack of crap!” She roared, grabbing a Poké Ball as she marched towards it.
“Edwina, get out here and do something useful for a change!” The Starly emerged on the field, just seconds after being summoned. Despite her tendency to overlook the bad qualities of others, it didn’t take long for Edwina to understand why exactly her trainer was having problems with this Pokémon. The irksome rainfall had already drenched Terri’s new outfit. There was no way her she’d be able to control her temper around a creature like this one. Chatot was practically just looking for trouble.
“<<Oh, I see! Don’t worry, Ollin, I’ll rescue you!>>” the bird chirped, spreading her wings. “<<Don’t even think about it! I don’t need to be rescued. Just attack that sickening Chatot.>>” Edwina turned to Terri, shuddering slightly as the girl’s expression reminded her of previous events. “What are ya waiting for now? Do something, ya brainless rat! Move it!” the trainer yelled out, thumping her fist against the palm of her other hand.
“<<Oh, I’m sorry! I’ll do that now,>>” the starling announced, changing her target to the parrot. “<<Hmm, maybe a Tackle will do the trick,>>” Edwina decided as she charged at her opponent. If Terri was going to leave this up to her, she’d have to choose between strength and speed. Quick Attack would guarantee her the first move each round but Tackle would probably get the job done sooner. Ideally though, Edwina hoped that the Chatot would be wise enough to leave before someone got hurt.

In the time it took for Edwina to be called out and decide to make her move, the Chatot had already noticed the negative turn of events. It didn't seem to care, though, as the desire for mischief overrode the bird's natural survival instinct. Chattering gleefully at the idea of annoying something besides the silly pink bulldog, the brightly colored parrot flapped its wings, soaring slightly higher before diving straight for Edwina. Before the starling could react, the Chatot was upon her, driving its sharp, hooked beak into her feathers and tearing into her skin.
Luckily, Edwina was flying, which gave her room to drop and minimize the injury from attack by the Chatot's wicked hooked beak. Recovering as quickly as she could, the Starly flipped, reversing her direction and charging straight for the annoying bird. She tucked her wings and her head at the last second, slamming into the Chatot with her shoulder. The parrot seemed startled by such a sudden retaliation, and it slammed into the ground, wincing as additional pain lanced through its tiny body. Of course, the attack didn't keep the trickster down for long, and it hopped back to its feet a moment later, still managing to chatter at the top of its lungs.

Chatot’s refusal to co-operate had upset Edwina. She’d hoped that it would be sensible enough to stop the violence before it got hurt. The starling gulped and continued on, not wanting to get on her trainer’s bad side. “<<At least this is good battling experience for us both,>>” she declared, trying to justify her actions by looking for a positive side. “<<Just take it easy because snow can be dangerous!>>” she warned the Chatot, causing Ollin to roll his eyes.
“<<Edwina, what are you doing? Just attack the dumb Chatot and let’s get out of here. It's only here to torment us so why are you trying to help it? Terri’s gonna freak out if you don’t hurry up,>>” the Snubbull shouted, rushing his ally to make a move. He wasn't looking forward to experiencing the same Terri he saw on their way to Cherrygrove. Edwina was almost as insane as her, despite being her total opposite. The avian was in a world of her own, trying to fool herself into believing that everything was perfect. Ollin really had ended up on a bizarre team.
Terri was becoming more distressed by the second. She’d been trying to keep calm but the starling wasn’t making it easy, loitering while she waited in the rain. The teenager's clothes were completely soaked, despite the fact that she'd only just bought them. If she defeated Falkner, she'd really have to consider buying an umbrella. The weather had been terrible ever since she'd arrived in Johto.
“Ugh, what’s keepin’ ya this time? Please, please show me you’re not completely brainless and actually do somethin’! How many times do I have to say to get rid of it?!” the girl begged, her face turning red with stress. Edwina hesitantly moved towards the parrot once again. Tackle seemed to be her best option stiill, though she’d consider switching to a Quick Attack on a later turn if she was in trouble. She just hoped it wouldn't end badly.

The captain mischievous Chatot chirped nonchalantly at its opponent, "How about you take it easy, pip bird, don't be so uptight!" The colorful song bird was in no way sympathetic to its opponent's point of view or persuaded by Edwina's speech. After replying her, the songbird opened its mouth wide with its tongue in the middle of the two jaws, and released a piercing wave caw that was painful to hear. Its attitude was detestable, how did other wild Pokemon tolerate it was a huge question. As the icy rain poured down and the Chatot ran out of breath, the sound of rain piercing the ground resumed. Edwina was trying her best to get rid of the Chatot, but that opponent could somewhat stand on its own! She flew toward colorful bird and slammed it lightly with her body, tossing it slightly disoriented in the air. The Chatot cawed furiously and glared at the Starly, as if it was insisting that its mischief was all fun and jest and no harm done-- except the Snubbull could have fallen off and damage himself!

Edwina gasped as the parrot snapped back at her. “<<Oh, I’m so sorry! I really didn’t intend to offend you,>>” the starling replied, her voice shaking. Chatot’s hostile attitude assured her that she’d said the wrong thing. She wasn’t sure what to do now. Her experience with Terri had showed her that if she tried to fix the situation, she would only make matters worse.
“<<Don’t apologise to it,>>” Ollin shouted up at her as he finally caught up to Terri. When he saw a vein pulsing on her forehead, he made sure to stay a couple of steps away. Getting in her way at a time like this was just asking for trouble. “Get on with it! It can’t be that hard to beat up something with frills ‘round its neck! I’m gonna give ya one last chance to knock it out or I’m gonna kill ya both myself!” Terri yelled, waving her fist in the air.
“<<You can do it, Edwina. Just focus and everything will be fine,>>” the flying-type whispered to herself as the rain beat down on her wings. Her attack stat had been lowered by the Growl attack which meant that another Tackle would be her best shot at finishing the battle this turn. She still had a lot of energy left but she could see that Chatot was beginning to show signs of exhaustion. “<<Here goes nothing!>>” the Starly cried out as she aimed at her opponent one last time before her trainer interfered.

The wild Pokemon suddenly focused on Terri with malicious intent. The trainer was so aggravated already the bird grinned at the thought of pushing her a little further. After gaining some altitude, it prepared to swoop down and use Peck on the female's head. At the last second Edwina dove down to intercept, taking the hit and cringing. She landed roughly before picking herself up again and taking to the skies, zooming in on Chatot and ramming into it with everything she had.
The annoying songbird dropped down with a dull thud and rolled to a stop, unconscious. Rain dripped down and rolled off its beak and colorful feather tips. It wouldn't be bothering Terri for awhile.

Terri wrinkled her nose in disgust as she watched the Chatot tumble along the ground. After watching the rain pelt down on it for a few seconds, it became evident that the parrot was staying down this time. Terri glanced in Edwina's direction, not to praise her but seemingly to strike fear into her. "Only took you about three years." The Starly quivered as they made direct eye contact but fortunately, Terri left it at that.
She began to trudge through the grass again. Her clothes her soaking and her boots squelched with every step. Ollin silently gestured for Edwina to follow, noticing that they were falling behind. The two Pokémon waddled after their trainer, keeping their heads down. The mood was little tense and the weather only stressed this further.
"You couldn't have saved some cash for an umbrella or a towel, could you?" Terri muttered to herself, pushing the drenched hair from face. She needed to find a Pokémon Centre soon or she'd be sick and even more insufferable. At the moment, there were still no clear signs of the city being close.
