An Apprentice's Duty (Marchbaby Assistant Researcher)

Having decided to take a quick trip back to New Bark Town Marchbaby wanted to stop in on his old friend Professor Elm. He had not seen the man in ages and wanted to show how far he had come. It had been far too long since he had spent much time here and yet he planned on returning more often to train his weaker Pokemon once he finished in Goldenrod. Even if this trip did not get too much done he had heard Professor Elm was looking for trainers who could complete the Pokedex which was right up his alley. A dragon apprentice like himself was perfect for the role as only someone who could tame dragons could safely do such a daunting task.

" If Professor Elm really is looking for someone to complete the Pokedex I think our friend Kevin will be a huge help. He already had a Riolu the last time we met and I do believe he said he would try and get me a Riolu egg next time we met. The would be a huge help as Riolu are extraordinary rare here." As he walked with Alpha following next to him they saw the lab in the distance and walked towards it. They grew pretty close as Alpha began trying to think of ways to fill up the Pokedex as quickly as possible. It knew some Pokemon would take a lot of luck but once they had a Pokedex it could weed out the easy ones. Alpha could hardly wait to get started as they grew close to the front door.

Marchbaby reached the front door and began to knock. He remembered the professor was a very busy man from the last time he met so he did not mind waiting. His brother would not get too far ahead as his greed would slow him down and his Pokemon were a bit stronger now then in the last meeting. Even so he hoped the professor would be quick to answer the door. Alpha could try scanning for life forms on the other side but opted to wait patiently with Marchbaby. A few minutes passed with no answer and Marchbaby went to knock again when the door opened suddenly. Professor Elm was standing in the doorway and Marchbaby wasted no time in getting down to business.

" Hello professor, long time no see. I hear you are looking for trainers to complete the Pokedex and I would like to help you out. I have already caught a bunch."

"Ah! Well if it isn't March! Please, follow me to the back," the professor urged, seeming to be in a hurry himself. "You came at just the right time actually," Elm continued as he quickly closed the door behind them before hustling through the lab toward his little open office area in the back. The entire area hummed with machinery computing various data, lab assistants rustling around the shelves and smaller desks as they attended to the management of everything being processed. "I was just finishing up here to leave to meet up with a good friend in Cherrygrove. If you'd come any later I'm afraid we would have missed each other! Hopefully you're doing well."

The professor reached the metal staircase that led up to the 2nd floor. The entire space was open, leaving nothing but a thin railing to keep one from falling off but it did give a great view of the floor below. "Here we are..." he partially muttered as he half jogged over to a messy table. Practically throwing pages out of the way he reached down to pull out a cord. "Your old dex please." Once the device was offered he popped the cord in and cleared another space to reveal an odd keyboard of sorts. Punching in a few digits the dex lit up and began downloading the upgrade.

"I'm sure you're aware of the new region that came to visit us not long ago. Well I've devised a more powerful pokédex that includes all of the Alola pokémon as well! And, as you know, I'm always looking for more research data to continue my study of breeding. And this new region has a very interesting breed of Kanto pokémon. I need capable trainers like you to help me collect everything you possibly can." The professor beamed a bright smile, flourishing with determined hand motions as he spoke to the dragon tamer.
"This baby does all the data uploading to the lab on its own so it won't even require you to come back and visit, though there are some buttons you'll need to push of course to actually get updated info to me."

Elm chuckled, slapping his hands together and wringing them with excitement. "I imagine someone with your experience will already have a ton of data to kickstart this little project, ey March?" The pokédex beeped, drawing Elm's attention back to the table with a sudden spin. His hands swiftly plucked the cord out then smoothly docked it into another device.
"Let's see here... I'm just going to have your PC contribute right now as..." he trailed off to look at his watch. "Yeah I should have time."
