when the words were snapped more obviously in their direction, eden finally rolled their eyes towards the grumpy man. "you literally sent me that way," they replied, jerking a thumb back in the direction of the alley they;d just come out of. the dingy, gross, unpleasant alley they hadn't even wanted to go down. "you ought to show some gratitude for my help so far or dirt might not be the worst thing that happens to that hat." their arms had folded across their chest by now, and it was hard to tell how genuine of a threat that actually was. were they just responding in kind to the 'unfair' animosity they were receiving? or were they the type to sabotage something important to someone just because they didn't think they were being treated 'right'. the answer would have been obvious if this were a pokemon contest, where eden had always had a reputation for underhanded tactics, but out here? impossible to tell... hopefully the threat would at least keep the annoying man quiet while eden focused on the new pokemon they'd spotted., though they would be far less careful with the hat now than they might have been beforehand. they handed noticed the ruffled feathers from beside the green-haired pokemon, but thankfully, bulbasaur had. his vines had slowed and moved more cautiously at the sight of the rattled spearow, and when the demand to stop had eventually come, he did halt them completely. he pulled them back slightly, showing that he was complying, but kept them outstretched all the same as he looked up to eden for confirmation on what to do next. the trainer was frowning, more in annoyance than concentration. it couldn't just be simple could it. "that's a hat not a nest, stupid bird," they said up to it. "and that thing inside it isn't yours either." looking pointedly towards bulbasaur again, they nodded towards the branch, urging the grass type to continue... and huffing impatiently when he did not. instead, the starter turned to the spearow and cleared his throat. <that pokemon of yours there. it doesn't appear to have wings. if I move the nest to the ground, it will be able to climb out more safely.> he had never seen a ralts before either, but he had at least noticed that it didn't look like a bird. it looked fully grown though from what he could see of its movements - confident and strong - so there seemed no reason for it to still be living in a nest. perhaps this was the barrier in the way for it then? <if you don't trust me, you can sit in the nest as well? that way you can peck my vines if I try to do anything bad, and I'll have to let go of the nest.>

The man gasped horrified. "You wouldn't! I'm paying you!" The man snapped as if that was the answer to everything, "just get my hat down, undamaged! Then we're all good and you'll get your reward," he added and whimpered in distress over his hat. "It's surely going to get soiled now! I don't have time to get it properly cleaned in the shop! What shall I do?!" He complained loudly to himself and he writhed his hands. The spearow looked straight at Eden when she spoke 'to it'. "Tell that to her," it said dryly as it gestured towards the ralts in the hat. Eden clearly didn't know about different kind of pokemon being able to breed with each other, and even if they couldn't it wasn't unheard of them adopting orphans. "How do you think she got up here in the first place after finding that thing?" The spearow asked tiredly and sounded like an exhausted parent. "She can get down just fine, if she would!" The bird turned to the ralts, "and its about time she flees the nest and find her own path. She's always welcome back to visit but she needs to do as her siblings and find her a new nest to protect, okay sweety?" Didn't look like ralts was ready for just that yet. Spearow fluffed up it's feathers at Bulbasaurs offer, "touch the nest and I will rip off your vines!" It spat as it glared threateningly. It made a frustrated gesture with a wing towards Ralts and the hat, "it won't work anyway, she has found it to try make the nest more safe from the trouble makers, to avoid them hurting another clutch. She will just bring it all back up."The spearow paused as a thought hit it and it looked between the ralts and the group gathered below. "Say... you want the hat, and she wants to protect the nest," it looked some more and a smile spread slowly, "what do you say to do us a little favor?" It jumped a bit further out on the branch and closer to Bulbasaur, turning one eye towards him with a mischievous look, "if you help her handle the trouble makers, then she won't need your hat, hm?"It added in a quiet mumble just for itself, but which Bulbasaur might be able to hear, "and perhaps she will then dare to leave and live her own life."Spearow suggests you should help ralts with a little 'problem'. If Bulbasaur is still going to try take the nest and hat, battle will start instead.

Eden was tired. They'd never wanted to help this person anyway - it had been out of boredom rather than duty that they had even accepted in the first place. Since then they'd been forced up dingy alleys, insulted, misgendered, and had just generally had a really bad time of it. Their motivation to continue being a good Samaritan to this stranger was rapidly dwindling to zero, and this last bout of complaining might just have been the final straw. With a roll of their eyes, Eden turned to look down at Bulbasaur, more keen to address him than the other human now. "Alright, I'm out. I'm going to get a coffee. You can... do whatever." They waved their hand dismissively at the whole situation they found themselves in, Bulbasaur looking around a little concerned at the responsibility he had been given but with no way to really argue about it. Eden's gaze had moved to a little cafe not far from them at all, back in the direction of the centre of the city they had been traveling through. They'd only be gone briefly to get a takeaway cup of something complicated to restore their motivation for the day: Bulbasaur was more than capable of handling things in that time. As Eden left for sustenance, Bulbasaur turned back towards the irate Spearow. He had been tempted to suggest that maybe she had hatched up there and simply moved the hat with her telekinetic powers, but the exasperated bird didn't really seem like it wanted a conversation. He was proved right at the violent reaction he received to his offer, and he let his vines retreat back down beneath his bulb in response. Goodness, were there no friendly Pokemon left in this world? Much like with the man and Eden, the Spearow was not really endearing itself to the Pokemon that it was asking help from. Thankfully for the Spearow, Bulbasaur had far more patience than his trainer, so he was at least willing to persevere. <I would be willing to try,> he replied, glancing back towards the cafe Eden had disappeared to just in case his trainer was required for this. <Tell me what you would need me to do.>

The man gasped horrified, "No! No you can't do that! You promised and I will pay you, the moment you get my hat down undamaged!" The man protested loudly and followed Eden. "Just.. just chase the pokemon off, you are a trainer aren't you? Can't you handle a few strays?!" He blabbered frantically and reached out for her but stopped himself. He didn't want to make a scene by dragging her back with him, that probably also wouldn't get her to take care of the two wild pokemon either. The spearow watched the two human leave without much interest, although it did look at them until they were deemed far enough away to be able to interfere much. It looked back at Bulbasaur and nodded gratefully before turning to its adopted child in the hat. "Did you hear that? Don't you think that will be great? You take care of those troublemakers with the help of our new friend here, and then the nest will never be in danger anymore!" The bird cooed and the ralts looked up thoughtfully. She then floated out of the hat and down to the ground, spearow puffed the hat out of the nest so it dropped to the ground and soared down to join them on the ground. It gestured for Ralts to show the way, and she did, skipping childishly ahead. "My hat!" The man exclaimed from near Eden and then rushed back to the nest and his hat on the ground. Spearow sighed wistfully as it watched the ralts ahead, as it walked beside Bulbasaur. "They grow up so fast, don't they?" It said with a sad smile, and it shook its head a bit. "I found her newly hatched and abandoned in a backyard, cold and hungry, who knows how she had ended up there? I brought her home to the nest and raised her with my own hatchlings, that was last srping," it smiled at the memories, "it was a happy time, and my mate really enjoyed having her around as well."The bird sighed again and then hardened its expression, "but everyone needs to leave the nest and find their own way in life. Winter is tough and we need to spread out." It glanced at Bulbasaur, "I think she doesn't like to be alone, and that's why she doesn't want to leave, or dare to," it watched the grass type beside it intently, leaving the unspoken question if Bulbasaur's group could be what Ralts needed to dare venture into the world, hang in the air. They didn't have to go far, just down to the corner of the street, still within sight of Eden, although it now probably would take her some time to catch up if she wanted to join them. Ralts didn't even have to point out the troublemakers, they made themselves clear as the sky themselves. "What? Have you come to submit and accept this as our territory?" One of the taillows asked mockingly when they spotted them. Its partner puffed itself up to look big and menacing, "you don't even have any wings or feathers, what can you do? Freak!"Spearow fluffed up by that and glared at the taillow, who preened itself nervously but didn't back down. "This is our territory, and you can be her if you accept our rules: no eating food without asking. No taking nest materials without asking. Fight off all threats to our nests," it listed as it pointed to a feather like a human would to a finger. Spearow gestured to the two birds in the little tree, "and here you have the troublemakers. They came late in summer, I guess they are this year's hatchlings. Why they haven't left with the others are beyond me," the brown bird said dryly and looked expectantly at Bulbasaur. While he was not alone, unless Eden had called in some of the other pokemon or brought them with her to the café, he was certainly put in charge to teach these two taillows a lesson. And perhaps win over a new friend. Two taillows [Lv 5 and Lv 5] are rudely claiming the area as their territory. "Can," Eden replied without even turning their head back towards the man. "Have." They still expected payment if the hat did eventually make its way back to the man given that their time had been so thoroughly wasted in the search for it, but they were at least at the point that they wouldn't complain too much if that didn't end up happening. They'd just complain on social media about it instead. They didn't feel the need to respond to the rest of the man's blabbering, only vaguely waving a hand in Bulbasaur's direction as though his presence was answer enough. If Eden had returned him and walked off entirely then sure, the man could complain, but they'd left their very best agent on the case, hadn't they? What difference did it make if they themselves were there as well? The agent in question watched the Ralts descend to the ground, turning briefly at the shout of the distressed human, before turning back to his new allies and listening to the story he was told. He plodded along behind the hatchling, nodding a little at what he was told. He did sense the unspoken question, could pick up on what the Spearow was trying to insinuate... but he gave no discernible answer or acknowledgement towards it. That was a decision for Eden to make, and in the mood they had been in when they had stomped off... Then again, Bulbasaur didn't know what this 'coffee' thing was that they'd mentioned. Maybe it was a sort of candy that might perk up their mood. When the man had run back to the hat, Eden had shrugged and continued into the cafe, placing their order at the counter just as the Pokemon trio came to stop. Yet more name-calling enemies it seemed - they were common in this area. Maybe that was why friendly Pokemon were so hard to come by, if they'd all been pushed out by this sort already. Bulbasaur only frowned as he listened to the quibbling, equally surprised by the words of the Spearow as well. He almost couldn't blame the Taillow for being oppositional here - the rules sounded almost human in their strictness, far beyond what Bulbasaur would expect from a group of wild birds. This clearly went far beyond his expertise, but he had at least promised to try. <Perhaps some agreement could be reached?"> he proffered a little uncertainly. <Perhaps part of the area could belong to Taillow and part to Spearow, and you each could agree to respect these new boundaries?> He spoke openly to the group, hoping that any one of the birds might pick up what he'd said as a starting point and work things out themselves from there, but that did seem a little too simple, didn't it? If he could just delay them long enough for Eden to catch up again then, maybe they would... actually, he doubted they'd have any better plan either.

The man reached the hat on the ground and picked it up, he turned it in his hands as he examined it closely, dusting it off and clearly fretting over it. His shoulders relaxed a bit and then he sent Eden a glare before he stomped off with the hat in his hands and his nose in the sky. Spearow looked tiredly at Bulbasaur when he made his suggestion and then rolled his eyes, he was rather naive, wasn't he? The two taillows looked rather confused as well, glancing between each other and him. "Is.. is that a yes?" One of them asked quietly and the other gave it a nudge. "Yes, yes! An agreement! All this is ours," it gestured wide with a wing, "this is taillow territory, spearow can leve sity for their territory, or live here under our rules," it said smugly and the other nodded along. Spearow glared at them but this time they didn't react. "If it was so easy, they wouldn't have been a problem in the first place," the brown bird hissed to Bulbasaur, then sighed, seemed like it had to take things into their own wings. "Hey, did you know Bulbasaur here wants us to talk about the territory so that he can claim most of it himself," Spearow said casually and the two inexperienced taillows turned as one to stare down the bulbasaur, feathers fluffed out. It didn't seem to quite do the trick and Spearow sighed, then added as an afterthought "he also said that your nest looks like a rat's nest and that your flying is below mediocre."One of the taillows gasped horrified, "That's not true! I will let you eat your own words!"The other mostly looked confused and quietly asked the others, "what's.. medi.. medikro?""He says we're bad! Bad at flying!" The first one exclaimed and the other gasped just as aghast and glared at Bulbasaur, how dared he! Spearow pushed Ralts and Bulbasaur forward as the two taillows jumped from the branch and flapped to gain some altitude before they attacked. "They are not going to listen to reason before they have learned they cannot bully their way through life," spearow said quietly to the grass type before it stepped back to see how they handled this. Two taillows [Lv 5 and Lv 5] are going to attack. Weather will be White Out (Fog)(ooc: reserved)

Stepping out of the coffee shop with their purchase in hand, Eden raised an eyebrow at the way the man they had been helping shot them a glare and then stalked off. "You owe me a reward, asinine jerk," they shouted after him, but their phone was already being fished out of their pocket. They didn't imagine he'd listen after all: despite the fact the hat was back in his hands because of what Eden and their Pokemon had done, they hadn't completed their task in the exact way that the man had anticipated, so that probably meant a failure in his eyes. Well one, he needed to learn to be more flexible, the world didn't fit the perfect little mold he had in his head and people were allowed to act in their own way. And two, Eden could make him pay in more ways than one. Years as a coordinator had left them with a loyal and somewhat vicious fanbase on social media: all they needed to do was post up a picture of him and write a little sob story caption beneath it and they'd have doxxed him by the end of the week. He'd probably think twice about withholding a reward from the next person who helped him after that. Bulbasaur was having a far worse time than Eden, even as the trainer pocketed the phone and began to walk towards the grass type. This Spearow was far more of a problem than he had expected and based on current observations seemed to be the likely instigator of this mess - and thank goodness he couldn't hear the fact he was being insulted in its head as well. Not only was it making bizarre claims of other birds that lived on its land like it was some sort of all powerful dictator and not a fellow wild animal living in nature with so many other creatures, but it was now slandering poor Bulbasaur's name in the process. After a moment of shock, Bulbasaur shook his head firmly. <No, stop that. That's not okay, I didn't agree to be used like this.> Given its attitude so far, he doubted the Spearow was going to care much though. He turned to look at the Ralts with a sympathetic look in his eyes. <I'm sorry little one, I know I promised to assist you, but I didn't know the full story at the time. Your carer is being very unfair and unkind, and I'm not willing to help somebody like that.>Not without official orders from their trainer anyway. The Ralts for her part had been looking between the birds and the grass type with a hand against her mouth, listening and absorbing, and Bulbasaur's words had made her pause. She had only ever known the guidance of the Spearow, had absorbed its morals as her own as one did with a parent. But perhaps it was time to think for herself now instead... At that moment, Eden appeared, and frowned down at the way that the Bulbasaur seemed to be squaring off with the Spearow now rather than the new birds that they hadn't seen before. "Weird," they commented, before going for the simplest option and returning Bulbasaur to his Pokeball. "Don't know who we're fighting here but finish whatever this is," they called as they released Sentret instead, a fresh face who had not heard the conversation so far and so might be more willing to help - though whose side they were on was seemingly yet to be determined.
I know Eden was fairly far away but Bulbasaur would just not fight here, so I need to forcibly switch him out to make this work. Let me know if I need to edit something else in but otherwise they're going to walk away without the Ralts at this rate haha.

The spearow looked at Bulbasaur with faint surprise, "how else will you teach them to behave and share the area? I have tried reasoning with them since they left their nest last summer. They won't accept to share the town except on their ridiculous rules you have just heard, and I'll admit I haven't been strong enough to teach them a lesson myself on my own," the spearow retorted. What other option would their be? It didn't really felt bad on treating Bulbasaur like this, it had request aid which he had agreed to do, and just like a fletchling which needed encouragment to start flying, the grass type needed a little push to start battling. You had to have your limits challenged to be able to grow after all. The spearow narrowed its eyes annoyed at Bulbasaur when he continued to refuse to battle, what was it he didn't understand here? The Taillows had just declared that they should leave or live under some sort of tyranny which nobody could accept, but still he thought spearow as the bad one? If Ralts wanted to answer the grass type, she would be able to tell several stories of when those two taillows had come and tried to chase them out of the nest, which was why she had refused to leave it unprotected. The taillows didn't care, this was their territory, as they had claimed it no matter what other pokemon had lived here already. There were strength in numbers and if the bulbasaur was disagreeing with them, they had no trouble showing him his place by force. Even if he showed no interest in defending himself they were already in flight. Diving straight towards the grass type, who unexpectedly disappeared in a flash of light! The taillow furthest back flapped hard and stared around wildly, where had he gone to? What trickery was this?! The other were too close and had picked up too much speed so it didn't have time to dodge, it slammed into Sentret as she appeared, beak first. "What's this?! Who are you?" the taillow in the back growled and fluffed out its feathers. "This is our place! Submit to our rule and we'll leave you in peace, if not you better leave or you'll regret it!"The first taillow lay on the ground and pushed itself up on its wing, shaking its head to clear the dizziness from the impact. "you.. you can show your loyalty by getting us some food from the human place," it offered and spearow scoffed: "you want them to steal for you?"The taillow glared at the brown bird as it retorted, "it's not stealing! It's ours already, everything here is ours! Why don't you get it and just do as we say!"Spearow puffed up its feathers to glare at the taillow, "I'm not going to live like a slave to your stupid rules! Me and my mate were here long before you were even thought of!"The taillow in the back rolled its eyes and smiled mockingly, "so what? We're here now and claim it all, and no one can stop us! You can stay and fetch food and nesting materials for us, or you can leave, that's all up to you."Wild Encounter Weather: White out (Fog -10% acc) [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Taillow Right LV 5 HP 100% [20/20]

While Eden was yet to actually notice the pattern, sending Sentret into an already begun battle was becoming an increasingly common move for them. The poor normal type was frequently greeted by an attack as she exited her Pokeball, but unlike Bulbasaur, the ways of the natural world didn't bother her. She didn't overthink. didn't overanalyse, didn't assume there were alternative or peaceful methods to solve a conflict. If she was attacked, she'd attack right back, as she had when she'd lived in the wild. Her lab friend would learn the same eventually - it just might take some time. A creature of very few words, she didn't give much of a response to the squawking Taillow who seemed spooked by her sudden appearance. It was mostly focused on the Spearow anyway, who she deduced was probably a friend based on its position beside her rather than opposite her. The Ralts was new too, not a Pokemon she recognised at all, and a paw touched at her mouth in thought for a moment as she looked it over. It seemed rather small, though it tried its best to sound fierce with its little growl. Someone to keep an eye on then, but if it insisted on getting involved in this fight then so be it, she wouldn't turn down the help. Once the conversation that she hadn't been paying attention to seemed to have finished, she gave one glance back towards Eden to ensure attacking was the right thing to do, and was surprised to hear her trainer actually give instruction. "Hit it then." Well, sort of. But it was something, and that was better than Eden often managed in these situations. With a nod, she lowered herself closer to the ground so that she could kick off from her current spot towards the Taillow on the right hand side, aiming to rush into it with a Quick Attack to kick things off more formally. Meanwhile, Ralts was pleased by the impression her little voice seemed to have made, and the presence of a Pokemon now willing to fight by her side only encouraged her on further. The Bulbasaur had given her a lot to think about, and his words still rolled over in her head as the battle began to really kick off, but that didn't mean she couldn't still join in. Clearing her throat a little, she tried a Disarming Voice this time on the same Taillow that her new ally was attacking, hoping it would be a helpful addition to their tussle.

The red chested birds didn't think much about why they got no answers, Sentret clearly was on their opponents side and they didn't need to know more than that. "You can send as many as you want! We won't back down as this is our birthright!" The taillow in the back declared and Spearow rolled its eyes. "Birthright?! What do you think you are? Kings?!" The brown bird screeched and the taillow huffed and stuck its beak in the air, "no, but taillows are the best, you should known that. We're taillows so others should do as we say."Spearow stared offended at them and huffed and puffed but wasn't able to get a proper answer out for them yet. "You.. you are so brave letting others fight your battles," the still dizzy taillow in front mocked the spearow, who opened its beak threateningly and challenged: "you want me to join right now? Since I can."The taillow pretended not to hear it and looked at Sentret instead, "you better back off of you know what's.." it began but got cut short as Sentret leaped forward and slammed into it, taking it completely by surprise and sending it rolling over the ground. "Hey!" The sibling shouted and half ran, half flapped over and began pecking the normal type to chase her back. "I'll teach you some respect! Take that! And that! And that!"The other fought to get back up on its feet, coughing and barely hanging on, it looked seriously worried. It chose to focus its energies to gather all the strength it had for this upcoming battle. Then a strange voice hit it, it was almost like you could see a pink shimmer in the air of it, it was soft and still it hurt the taillow and it staggered. It threw out a wing to not fall, it shook from exhaustion and then it collapsed. "Impressive," Spearow said and jumped over to Ralts and gave her a gentle pat on the back with a wing. The Quick Attack landed with a substantial amount of force, and Sentret felt quite proud of the literal impact that she had made. She'd often heard whispers about how traveling with a trainer helped you to grow, but she'd never been quite sure whether it was true or not. Perhaps it had just been something mothers told their children so they wouldn't be so scared of the humans trying to battle them, but she certainly did feel stronger already. "Oh, they're quite cute actually." Eden's voice had Sentret grimacing slightly as she predicted where that thought might be headed. So far their team had gelled quite well despite the various backgrounds and slightly aggressive introductions that had brought them into one place. While Sentret had been focused on the battle not the chat, she had definitely heard quite how highly these Taillow thought of themselves, and she really didn't want to be in a team with that sort of attitude... Maybe Eden was just making an observation though and wasn't actually thinking about catching one of them... The other Taillow interrupted her thought process anyway as it rushed at her with aggressive pecks. Small hands reached up to protect her eyes as she attempted to bat the bird away, eventually aiming a full Scratch attack at it once her claws could find some grip. She vaguely heard a strange voice nearby but was a little too distracted to know what the Ralts was up to. The little one would have to look after herself for a moment. The Ralts was currently clapping her little hands together in joy at the praise she was receiving from the Spearow. It was all the encouragement she needed to open her mouth and sing again, another Disarming Voice attack now going towards the Taillow that was still standing. After all, it was attacking her friend, so she needed to step up and help to keep things fair.

The taillow who was still standing was so focused on its retaliation that it didn't notice that its kin was down. Sentret was almost double the size of the bird but it fought like an army, weaving around, ducking to avoid Sentret's claws as she tried to bat it away. It was pretty easy for it at first as the scratching was halfheartedly at best, Sentret was busy trying to protect herself from the sharp beak which kept finding its way past her arms, or directly into them if she managed to get them placed correctly to block it. When she realized vague batting wouldn't have any affect, and she decided she could handle a few more pecks as she got so many already, she easily landed a rather powerful scratch on the inside of the wing of the bird, which forced it back. It chirped sadly as it felt bad for itself and it preened the sore spot gently, only to wince when the not-so-nice soundwave hit it its ears. It glared over its shoulder at the young ralts, "stay out of this!" It snapped. Spearow puffed out its chest proudly as it finally got to see its adopted baby step up to the plate. It was used to spearow chicks who couldn't wait to leave the nest and whom it often had to hold back until they had learned to forage and fly, Ralts had been quite opposite and it had worried she would never find the guts to grow up. In the fog the downed taillow began to stir, it slowly opened its eyes and narrowed them at Ralts. It froze when it realized that Spearow was glaring warningly at it and it clearly fought with itself about what to do. Then it sent a guilty look after its kin before it slowly began to crawl away to disappear in the fog. Sentret paused as the Taillow backed off to attend to its newest scratch wound. She was a respectable creature, she wouldn't attack a Pokemon when it was trying to take a moment to recover... well, not in a roughly fair match like this. If she was fighting for her life then of course she absolutely would, but those kind of desperate tactics weren't necessary at the moment. Not when one of their enemies was already down and the other couldn't be too far behind. She did notice the Ralts' contribution this time as the Taillow spoke directly to her. She turned to look towards the small creature who still looked happy to be involved, a smile visible under that large mop of hair. Sentret gave a nod of thanks towards her, causing her to clap her little hands again, before the two of them focused back on the battle still at hand. "Wait, I want to catch one." Oh no. There was Eden saying exactly what Sentret had worried they might say. The new trainer had given a comman in battle too, to wait as they scrambled in their bag for an empty Pokeball, and Sentret looked almost nervously around as she tried to plan out what to do. Without really thinking, she dropped onto all fours and rushed forwards, launching an unauthorised Quick Attack at the remaining Taillow to the sound of a confused, "Hey!" from Eden behind her. She'd disobeyed a command, obviously not a good sign for a trained Pokemon, but desperate times called for desperate measured. Perhaps if she could quickly knock out the Taillow, Eden would see that it was weak and not want to add it to their team...? The Ralts was only confused by this move, looking up at the trainer still trying to find a Pokeball to use before switching her gaze back to the attacking Sentret. Unsure of what to do herself in this very unclear moment, she went for the safer contribution and used a Growl attack, not wanting to inflict any damage herself but also not wanting to leave her new Sentret friend to battle alone either.

As the battle momentarily calmed down, the taillow looked for its partner in crime and was shocked to discover it was all alone. A moment of panic as it jumped around itself searching frantically, but then remembered it was in a battle, and alone against two opponents! It looked between the two and decided it had to even the odds, and fast! Then it could always figure out why it had been abandoned afterwards. It half ran, half flappy jumped towards Ralts, planning on taking her down fast since she was the weakest of them all by far, then it would be more fair. It didn't even got half the way before Sentret came barreling into it and sent it down to count. It was now very easy to catch for Eden, if she still wanted to. Bickering voices reached Eden, and they quickly got closer. One of them were pretty familiar, it was the so called gentleman with the hat, which was now sitting proudly on top of his head. With him was a young teen, 13 at most and she was leading the way with a confidence only a young girl who is thinking she is right could have. They stopped in front of Eden and the man couldn't look her in the eye, the girl tried to keep up her anger and determination but she soon failed. She flung her hands up for her mouth and squealed, "You're Eden Blair! I have seen your in contests and followed you on socials," the girl gushed and almost jumped up and down while fanning herself with a hand in her fangirling. "I didn't come along for you to act this silly! We have something important to be!" The man cut in and the girl instantly dropped her starstruck behavior and turned to him looking like a thundercloud, "then get to it so we can to this very important thing of yours!" She snapped. "How dare you speak to me like that!" He gasped offended and she crossed her arms, "you could just behave as you are supposed to! Didn't you promise her a reward from helping you? Didn't you run from that like a poor person?" The man mumbled something under his breath. "It's all over the webs, you better cough up with something or the family will be humiliated and known for being liers for an eternety!" The girl declared and the father glared at her and then at Eden. Hi face wrinkled in disgust but he pulled a little pouch from his pocket. "The reward for your help, thank you," he said where the last clearly was hard for him. He shook out a couple of gems from the pouch which he handed her. The girl looked pleased and sent Eden a beaming smile. The 'gentleman' grabbed her arm and pulled her along as she opened her mouth to speak, clearly mumbling something about them being in a hurry. "Are you here for the Candy Cats?! They should be in the city now!" The girl shouted over her shoulder, looking hopefully at Eden. Sentret pulled through (and will hopeful soon earn a name?) and grows (2/2+2/2) +2 levels to [Lv 11]! Ralts has learned she can stand on her own two legs and she grows (3/2+3/2) 3 levels to [Lv 4]! She learns Double Team! Bulbasaur learned you cannot always avoid a battle and grows 1 level to [Lv 10]! The "gentleman" reluctantly gives Eden some items as reward for a job well done. Sentret successfully landed the final hit and the Taillow went down like its partner had earlier. A cheer came from Ralts, so proud of herself for helping out in a real life battle. Maybe Spearow was right, maybe this was evidence that she was indeed ready to leave the nest. She looked towards her adopted mother, who nodded encouragement at her, and took flight to a nearby tree - a clear sign that she was still here if needed, but that Ralts was free to go along with these new friends of hers instead if that was what she wanted. The normal type gave her an encouraging pat on the head as she walked back towards Eden, who was frowning in confusion at the scene ahead of them. "I'm still going to catch it," they grumbled, finally having drawn out an empty Pokeball. Sentret's face dropped, but there was nothing she could do but watch the 'ball fly over her head and scoop up the Taillow behind her. Oh well, they'd... find a way to make this work, somehow. Maybe the Taillow would calm down once caught, and start to learn to be a little less selfish when it was forced to work in a group. There was of course the matter of Ralts too, who Eden had not yet noticed was in need of a trainer. In fact, they had been about to walk away when they spotted the small creature following aft them. "Oh... are you... do you want to come too?" They frowned, surprised by this predicament that had not happened to them before, but they did have spare Pokeballs now that they'd found where their stash was in their bag. They pulled another one out, pointing it at the Ralts and waiting to see how she reacted... but when she didn't flee, Eden clicked the button and pulled in another new partner for their team. Huh. They were getting to be quite a big group, weren't they? Before they could think on it anymore though, a familiar face was approaching, and Eden got ready to put on their very best ***** face when a young girl spoke to them first instead. "I am indeed," they replied proudly, flicking their long hair back over their shoulder to make sure they looked totally presentable. A conversation passed between their fan and the man who had given them this task in the first place, and Eden was soon handed a small pouch of rewards. Eden gave a smug grin and a slightly teasing, "Thank you," that implied that he should have known better than to mess with them... And then the pair were off, leaving Eden and Sentret alone once more. Eden's phone buzzed in their pocket and they scooped it out to see a text from their mother on the screen. Finally cleared all the paperwork, your girls are on their way x. With a squeal of excitement, Eden threw their empty coffee cup into a nearby trashcan and went rushing back along the path towards the Pokemon Centre, Sentret running along behind them in surprise. Ten minutes later, Sentret had been returned to her Pokeball, and with a bit of party swapping at the PC and the collection of Eden's old trio of cat Pokemon, they were ready to set out again. They left the Pokemon Centre with a clear bounce to their step, eager to set out again with their old crew back in tact.
Thank you for the story, Tarlar <3 | Because the cats are so specific to Eden's aesthetic, I was going to go with them being sent over by their mother as some of their previous contest Pokemon if that's okay? Let me know if I need to take that last part out though and go with something different ^^. Also if I need to present the below information anywhere else or differently in any way, please do let me know - my plan just shifted all at once haha.
