As Tyler watched the Great ball shake he wondered what he would actually do if Jigglypuff somehow popped out of the ball as he had not really thought of a backup plan. He was rather relieved when the ball came to a stop and clicked shut as it meant a backup plan would not be necessary. As he walked over to pick up the ball Sparky let out a huge sigh of relief as he had finally won the battle and as a result he was feeling a little bit stronger than what he had been just a short time before. The electric type canine knew he would get at least a moments rest before Tyler would use him again. As Sparky laid down in front of Tyler the young man recalled Sparky as he did want to have Sparky die of exhaustion as the mutt might prove useful in a later gym. For now however Tyler seemed to agree that Sparky had earned a rest. By no means was the young man terribly impressed with the performance of the young Pokemon but as he managed to avoid screwing up the evil trainer decided to show a bit of mercy and let Sparky rest instead of being whipped. In the mean time Tyler was by no means ready to take on the next gym yet. Even though Sparky had gained a few levels from that battle most of his team was still rather weak and he knew that more training would be required before he could even think of taking on the Azalea gym. Tyler knew that Bugsy specialized in Bug types thanks to his brother Marchbaby which gave him a bit of an upper hand and as he knew Bugsy's secret weapon was a Scyther he wanted to gain as many Pokemon with a type advantage as possible. Not only that but any other Pokemon that he managed to find that he could sell on the black market was also another good reason to try and find more Pokemon on the route. The young man left the small meadow that he found himself in and returned to the small path heading to the town. He figured that if there was any place a Pokemon might try to ambush a trainer it would be there and he would make sure that if a Pokemon did try to ambush him he would not only be ready he would teach them a lesson about messing with him. With a Jigglypuff out of the way and now in his possession, Tyler was able to continue on with his training for when he decided to face Bugsy. The bug type Gym Leader was but a small boy, even younger than the first Gym Leader of Johto, Falkner. At a glance, he didn't seem like anything special but Bugsy was smart, so much so that he had even wrote an entry which was stored inside a Pokedex. So to work alongside a famous Pokemon Professor, Bugsy had to be a worthy opponent. But he wasn't just academical, the bug fanatic also excelled in Pokemon battling, hence his Gym Leader position despite his young age. His Scyther was also known to pack a mean punch, hitting unsuspecting challengers and then quickly withdrawing, leaving the challenger to then waste a move on a defensive cocoon. Bugsy indeed held a firm strategy that would shake up over confident trainers and whittle down the health of strong Pokemon, if the challenger didn't know what they were doing. But since Tyler had been lucky enough to receive a word of warning, he was at the very least, mentally prepared for Bugsy's onslaught in the future.
Leaving the grass for the dirt path, Tyler feigned his advance toward Azalea and his actions were just enough to draw the attention of another opponent. Nattering away to each other behind a bush was a large group of both male and female Nidoran, their eyes all set on Tyler. In their group, it was custom to face a trainer to prove their worth before being accepted into a group and one particular Nidoran was unlucky enough to be picked to face Tyler. Looking around nervously, the young female felt uncertain but there was a particular male she wanted to impress so at the same time, couldn't back down. Taking in a deep breath, she turned on her feet and wriggled her way cautiously through the bushes, so that she didn't draw attention to their location and ultimately endanger the whole group. Stealthily moving across the grass, the Nidoran waited until she was at a safe distance before obscuring Tyler's path with a jump, landing in the middle of the path. Glaring at the human, the Nidoran appeared confident but in the back of her mind, she was incredibly nervous.

As Tyler walked down the path he was not expecting a Pokemon to jump out at him so quickly. By the looks of the path it was a great spot to pull of an ambush and despite his usual cruel nature he liked the fact that the Nidoran had enough bravery to even try and jump out at him. He had sworn to himself that he would torture the next Pokemon that jumped out at him but he could not help but feel a bit of pity for the rabbit which seemed like it was trying to prove something. He had a lot of respect for that but that did not mean he would go easy on it as he was still training his team. AT the same time as it could evolve into a Nidoqueen at one point Tyler had every intention to capture her when the time was right but for now he had to pick which Pokemon should battle her.
At first he considered using Ace as the bird was getting close to evolving and he really wanted to get a Fearow as it's personality matched his and it would be a huge help when fighting Bugsy but then he remembered Volcano had no received very much training and a fire type would be very useful when fighting Bugsy so the young man saw no other choice but to use him as the echidna really needed more training if it was to have even a slight chance of beating Bugsy. As Tyler reached for Volcano's Pokeball the terrified echidna popped out and looked at Tyler scared for it's life as Tyler had not been very kind to the poor Pokemon and there was no signs that he planned to show him any mercy.
As the young fire type looked around and saw what he would be up against he almost felt bad for the poor Nidoran as she seemed to have been pressured into this battle with the weary look in her eyes. Volcano could tell she really did not want to fight but was only doing it to try to impress someone or something. He felt terrible that Tyler was going to force him to fight a Pokemon that did not seem to want to battle that much but he was sure as hell not going to show mercy as he knew he would be whipped if he did so. As the echidna kept a close watch on his opponent he was ready to launch an attack as he waited for Tyler to give the go ahead.
" So you sorry little ***** I need you to show this Nidoran how to fight but I do not want you to knock the ***** out. I plan on using her as a breeding Pokemon once I get a male Nidoran so I only want you to hurt her enough so that she will surrender so I can capture her. You will get in serious trouble if you knock her out I want to make that very clear. Now go and give that ***** a taste of your Ember attack before I tear you a new one." He said as the poor fire type hesitantly got ready to attack praying he would not get whipped in the process.

Clearly ready to have a heart attack out of how fast its little chest was thumping, it was surprising Volcano was even able to move at all. With Tyler's inflammatory hurl of abuse and threats goading at his own Pokemon, the Cyndaquil was clearly cowered by such a trainer. Remaining on its spot the fire mouse Pokemon merely flared up weakly the burning flames on its back as it craned its head up and with a parting of its jaw, shot out a rather pathetic spat of burning hot coals. Flying through the air with a sizzle, the burning embers pattered all over the unfortunate female Nidoran. Pacing about in agony, the Pokemon was doing everything it could do try and get off the burning coals which were now searing at its skin. Eventually, the nervous Pokemon stopped, dropped and rolled about on the grass beneath it. Utilising such a good technique meant that she was no free of any such lasting burn damage that could have potentially arisen. Sensing to a degree the Cyndaquil known as Volcano was not too fond of its trainer, the Pokemon felt a horrible twang of pity resound in its conscience. Reaching a fight or flight situation, the Nidoran remembered that the entire reason she was doing this was to impress that cute male Nidoran she had known and hopefully by doing this, she would receive recognition and win his affections. Letting out a sudden startling cry, the Nidoran had managed to put aside its nervous quibbles and was now readying itself for the fight. Darting forwards with surprising agility, the little mammal made short work of getting to its destination. However, no sooner than she had arrived, she made a small drift which span her around one hundred and eighty degrees. With her rear now facing volcano, she kicked up her hind legs with a flawless double kick example. Deftly smacking Volcano twice, she scuttled off back to a safe distance away from any wrathful outbursts from Tyler. He had warned his Pokemon not to knock out the opposing Pokemon but perhaps she had a bit more resilience behind her than he had estimated. Wild Battle

Tyler was rather impressed by how well the female Nidoran could fight. She did not look like much nor did her size impress him but she still seemed to have the spirit of a true battle hardened Pokemon which he was glad to see. As he was not impressed by the battles he had on the route so far this battle seemed to finally be turning things around in a very good way as it was a close battle so far. He could see himself capturing both the Nidoran as they evolving into a pretty strong Pokemon that would surely be a huge help down the road even if they were far from a team sweeper until they evolved. He was not quite confident in his chances of capturing this one yet however as she seemed to still have some fight left in her.
As he did not want to take the risk yet as there was still a decent chance she could escape in her current state he decided instead to go another round as unless he had the worst luck in the world he was pretty confident that Volcano could last at least one more round and there was always a chance he would burn the Nidoran giving him an even higher chance of capturing it. Even if he did not succeed in burning it however the additional hp loss from Ember would make her a lot easier to catch. Not to mention VOlcano really needed more training so he could catch up with the rest of his team which he was a bit behind the others. Secretly Tyler knew Volcano was a pretty good Pokemon but as the echidna had not even come close to it's peak he was not ready to even begin to show him mercy.
Volcano looked over at Nidoran as if he really regretted having to fight it and the look she gave back to him seemed to return the feelings as neither one seemed to want to battle the other. Tyler quickly noticed this and he knew he could use it to his advantage as neither Pokemon would want to get whipped. " Tell you two what whoever wins this battle I will not whip for a week no matter how bad you ***** things up but the loser gets 1000 lashes as soon as the battle is over. A capture will count as a win for you Volcano so Nidoran I suggest if you like staying in good health you keep putting up a very good fight like you have so far."
As he finished speaking Volcano had a terrified look on his face. The echidna Pokemon was not looking forward to this next round as he did not want to get whipped and he knew at the same time the poor Nidoran opposite of him would not want to get whipped either. Tyler would be pleased either was as something would get whipped by him before the end of the battle. Wanting to see both Pokemon suffer like he usually did he decided now was better than ever to have Volcano attack again. " Alright Volcano stop sitting on your lazy ass and use Ember on that Nidoran before I whip you for wasting my time." As he finished speaking Tyler grabbed his whip just in case it would be needed at the end of this round.

The Nidoran looked nervously back over to the bush. There were so many watching her right now. She couldn't possibly let this Cyndaquil best her. Though...there was a look to him that told her that she was not the only one in danger of failing something. He didn't look happy, like....being with this trainer was wrong. She hoped that he didn't have plans to try and trap her, like she had seen happen to others during their tests. She had a feeling she wouldn't want to be captured by this man anyway.
She felt the hot cinders as they flew towards her again, Volcano acting quick to Tyler's command. Yes, he was striving for something, Nidoran concluded as the cinders slammed into her blue body. She shook it off and ran at him, turning last second to allow her legs to flail out and smack into the other creature, who was knocked back slightly by the action.

As Tyler watched the two Pokemon go another round he took great joy in watching both Pokemon suffer to prove their strength to him. He could tell the female Nidoran was not going to give in very easily after taking two Embers in a row however she was beginning to look tired and the same could be said of Volcano who also looked pretty beat after getting kicked so many times. Despite both Pokemon being evenly matched it did seem like the Female Nidoran was trying a little bit harder and Tyler was not very confident in Volcano being able to go another round with her unless he really had to. Hoping to avoid that however Tyler knew how strong she could become so he figured capturing her was also an option now that she had lost so much hp.
Tyler loved to see Pokemon suffer but if he went another round with VOlcano and he was defeated by the Nidoran he would look like a fool and he was not going to let that happen. Seeing no other option but to try and capture the Nidoran so that he could raise he he began to look through his backpack for a Great Ball to give himself the highest chance of a successful capture. As he dug through his backpack he finally found a great ball after digging for a moment or two as he was in a hurry hoping that the Nidoran would not make a move while he was doing so. With the Great Ball in his hand he decided to give his usual torture speech before trying to capture it as he wanted to put the fear of Arceus into the young Pokemon so she would know who her new master was and why he does the things the way he does.
" Alright you little ***** I am only going to say this once so if you like breathing you had better listen up and listen up good. I am going to capture you as you will make a fine specimen to breed for the glory of Team Rocket. You will not have a choice what I do with you and you will fully obey my orders no matter how much you hate them. You can try and run now if you wish but you will only be more tired when I capture you so you might as well give in now and get used to being a slave. He said as he flung the Great Ball at the young poison type.

The female Nidoran flinched defensively as Tyler began rummaging around in his bag. The large whip that he carried around terrified her, so she was certain that he had other devices which would likely be enough to turn the once violet Pokemon stark white. What he brought out was an item that did indeed scare her, terrify her infact. As the words that accompanied his action only answered her most dreaded fear and filled her to the brim with despair. She was not quick enough in defeating the Cyndaquil and with it came the potential of being captured, just like several others of her kind who had fallen to the same fate in the past. The Nidoran had so much to live for and the last thing she wanted was to turn into some sort of breeding factory or battle trophy for this vile human. But she couldn't turn and run either, her pride wouldn't allow it. She was nervous and sick to the very pit of her stomach but if she failed this test, then she wouldn't be allowed back into their group.
Taking one last glance over her shoulder, back toward the bush which hid her lurking friends, she knew deep down that this was the end. She was going to fight and try her hardest not to get captured but she also knew her burning wounds would not aid her in the slightest. Almost becoming tearful as her time of freedom was coming to a close, she turned to see the ball being thrown and braced herself. In a last attempt of standing strong, the young female retracted her back legs and with a turn of her body, tried to kick the Great Ball back. However, this was in vain. Knocked off course only slightly, the homing mechanism kicked it, curling back in on itself and continuing with it's intended destination. Her eyes widening in horror, she let loose a pained, emotional cry before the ball tapped her, dragging her inside and clicking together instantly. The capture was successful.

Ooc: Volcano forgets Leer and learns Quick Attack and he evolves into Quilava.  NidoranName: Cleopatra Gender: Female Level: 10 Attacks: Growl, Scratch, Tail Whip, Double Kick Ability: Rivalry Nature/Personality: Cleopatra is Tyler's go to breeding Pokemon. She is one of his weaker Pokemon but she is quite tough for her size. She hates the very idea of being Tyler's slave and she dreams of the day she evolves into Nidoqueen so she can escape from her evil master. Ic: As the battle ended withe the female Nidoran being captured Volcano sighed in relief that he would not be the one getting whipped the fire type began to turn a bright white. His shape began to change as he began to evolve. A moment later the change took effect and Volcano had a larger body with bigger flames. Tyler looked at Volcano with a rather disappointed look as he still did not look very strong. Volcano did not like the look Tyler gave him but at least by evolving the young echidna would become a little stronger. Volcano seemed to struggle for a moment as he was not used to this body but he soon learned how to use it as he ran around with a high level of speed. Tyler just yawned as he had seen faster Pokemon and he did not think Quick Attack would make a big difference. Tyler nonetheless decided to keep Volcano out of his Pokeball so the young Pokemon could become fully accustomed to his new body. He also decided to let Spartan out of hers as well so she could practice more as well. With two of his Pokemon out of their Pokeball's Tyler was confident he could beat anything that came his way. As the Pokeball with his new Nidoran disappeared he began to wonder what may come out at him next. The only great battle he had so far was with Cleopatra the Nidoran and he was hoping something better may come to him soon or this next gym was going to be a pain to put up with. As the path he was on had given him the best outcome so far the young man decided that it was likely the best option to stay there and see if anything else had a big enough pair to challenge him. As he stood in the center of the path he could not decide which of the two Pokemon in front of him he should use first. Both needed a lot more training but he also wanted Ace to evolve. As he thought to himself the young man decided to wait to see what would happen before taking action. |

The light Volcano created attracted the attention of many eyes that lurked in the wilderness. In the wild, evolution wasn't all that common and to them, it proved that the Pokemon was the best of the best. So whilst Tyler wasn't exactly thrilled with the appearance of the Quilava, it struck a few nerves with other Pokemon. The area was always peaceful and tranquil, especially since it was so hard to travel to. You needed to either venture through a cave, traverse a thick forest or fly in with style. Either way, a place that was so heavily surrounded with foliage made the fire spouting Volcano look like a huge threat. Many smaller Pokemon beginning to flee as he got used to his new body by dashing around at top speed, there was atleast two pair of lingering eyes who were ready to dash in and attack the trainer. Fire wielding partners or not.
The first lingered in the bush that the previous female Nidoran had emerged from. Her herd had quickly vanished at the sight of the Pokeball but the male she had been trying to impress was merely left standing there, mouth ajar. He had caught her last minute glance back and right before his eyes, she had disappeared. Far too cowardly to attempt to save her, it seems that the Nidoran she liked wasn't all that he appeared to be. He wanted to go and dish some revenge, his heart was telling him to and that was the only reason he was still lingering. But he couldn't bring himself to do it. He couldn't stand up against a Pokemon like Volcano and then all of a sudden, a Pokemon which looked like it was made of pure metal and rock appeared. He was also petrified of being captured himself, he enjoyed his freedom.
Flinching his eyes shut, the Nidoran tried to work out what to do but it seemed a decision was about to be made for him. Leaping out from a tree over head, a manic rustle was followed by incessant shrieking as a Mankey made itself known to Tyler. Landing on the path, the Mankey stomped it's feet around irritably. It was sick of the weaklings in this area, the hiding, uncertain Nidoran only adding to it's list. It lived with Hoppip after Hoppip and several other puny species that made it's blood boil. Even the Hiker which frequented the area was utterly useless to the Mankey's strength. Snorting it's nostrils, it appeared that this Pokemon was confident enough to issue such a frantic challenge, stomping it's feet and ruffling up it's fur to try and make it seem more intimidating. Cowering at this sight, the male Nidoran quickly backed off. It would miss the female but he needed to put himself first!

Tyler heard the grass rattle all around him along with branches shaking in the trees around him confirming his suspicions that wild Pokemon liked this area and that he was not alone. He could see something moving in the bushes but before he could check it out a rather strong looking Mankey jumped out of a tree and it started to stomp it's feet on the path as if it were angry about something. Tyler did not think the Mankey was very smart to come out of a tree before attacking but the monkey did look pretty strong to Tyler so the young trainer had every intention of battling it so his team could gain more levels before taking on Bugsy. Tyler thought that this battle would be a nice bit of practice for Volcano who had only evolved moments ago.
As Tyler watched Mankey stomp the ground with no signs of stopping he had a good feeling about this next battle. Mankey was full of energy and at it's level any of Tyler's Pokemon would benefit fighting it but as Bugsy used bug type Pokemon Tyler knew Volcano and Flint would be his two best options for the battle. Volcano was still quite a few levels behind Flint so it made winning this battle all the more important so that there would not be as large of a level gap as there currently was. Volcano seemed rather nervous about getting in another fight so quickly but the echidna could not pass up a shot at testing his new body. Without Tyler saying a word Volcano walked closer to the Mankey before he growled at the monkey. Tyler yawned at the rather weak growl as he did not think it sounded tough at all.
Despite Tyler being unimpressed by Volcano's growl he still saw potential in the young Pokemon. He had seen the fighting spirit back in the Sprout Tower and the look in Volcano's eyes still seemed to have the burning desire to improve his fighting abilities. Volcano may not quite be all he could be yet but Tyler knew how useful the echidna would be after evolving one more time. That was still a while off but Tyler wanted to do everything he could to speed up the process so he could start climbing the Team Rocket corperate ladder. " Alright you sack of crap time to earn your next meal. Use Ember on that ugly little prick over there and make it quick."

The Mankey stared at the Quilava as he sent a less than threatening growl to the fearsome monkey. Trying to act tough, Volcano needed to get used to this new body of his as quickly as possible, in order to avoid getting a whipping from Tyler. Nervous and uncertain, Volcano still wanted to prove his worth, the flames on his body burning much brighter compared to when he was just a small Cyndaquil. Snorting hot air out of it's nostrils angrily, the Mankey was not impressed in the slightest, let alone intimidated. An opponent such as this was what the Mankey yearned for but after hearing his measly attempt of a growl, it even lowered the spirit of the Mankey. Was Volcano really going to be a worthy enough opponent for the ape to test out it's own strength? Regardless, it didn't like the tone of the trainer so even if Volcano proved to be useless, atleast there was the potential of attacking something else in his team.
Beginning to stomp about once again, impatiently, the Mankey prepared itself for the battle to start. Finally. Stretching it's arms and legs, the Pokemon limbered itself up. Packed full of energy, it was going to make sure to be a tough opponent and truly get under the skin of the Quilava. Volcano himself, knew he had something to prove in order to keep the skin on his back. Taking in a deep breath, the Quilava summoned a blast of fire, much more impressive than the scatter of embers his old body would create. Engulfing the fluffy body of the Mankey in this raging gush of fire, the intelligent creature was not put off by this burning sensation. Stopping, dropping and rolling, the fur of the Mankey might have been frazzled but it was not deterred. Rolling in the direction of the Quilava, the Mankey leapt into the air last minute, arm raised and eyes piercing down evilly at Volcano. As it's body was drawn back down by gravity, the Mankey stiffened up it's arm and landed a mighty karate chop right in the centre of Volcano's head. With the tips of Mankey's fur smoking and Volcano looking a little stunned after the strike to the head, atleast both Pokemon were still standing. It was a promising battle indeed.

Tyler was thrilled by the first round as both attacks had done similar damage to one another not to mention both Pokemon now knew that their opponent was pretty confident at fighting as well. He just hoped that the karate chop to the head would make Volcano a bit tougher so he would be ready to help fight Bugsy as a fire type duo partnered with Flint as together they would be a thought pair to beat once the echidna Pokemon gained a few more levels. As Tyler smiled he knew that this was going to be quite the entertaining battle indeed.
Volcano and Manley both looked rather silly to Tyler as both Pokemon were acting so tough despite neither one being able to take a hit at all. The pair was pretty pathetic as of now to Tyler but he hoped that this battle would serve as a good lesson to both Pokemon about being weak. Hoping the next round blood would be spilled to prove that point Tyler looked at Volcano with eagle eyes looking for even the slightest imperfection so he would have an excuse to whip the poor Pokemon.
Not wanting to sit around and wait for a mistake Tyler decided that he would kick off the next round. " Alright Volcano you know the drill. You mess up and I will whip you. Now show me you have some kind of functioning brain and use Ember on that Manley." He said hoping fear would make his Pokemon stronger.

Letting out a wrathful temper tantrum, the pig monkey Pokemon let out a deafening swine like screech from its nostrils as it realised that it may very well have found a worthy foe to take on. Unlike the weakling residents of this boring old route. Swinging its arms around and stomping about its feet, it was easy to mistake the Pokemon to be simply monkeying around however it was in reality pumping itself up for the next round. They were even with one another and the Pokemon would need an edge in order to be able to clinch the advantage. Volcano too was in a similar position. Instead of pumping himself up, he was mentally straining himself to keep himself within line of Tyler's high and near impossible expectations. Not a foot out of line and maybe, just maybe, he'd get out of this with one less whipping to his hide. As the abusive trainer hurled out his command, thinly veiled threat included, Volcano quickly flared up the fire on his body as he knew there was no point in sitting around. His meal time was now on the line too. Generating a fearsome amount of fire, the Quilava opened up its mouth and with a sudden pelting of fire, let out a sudden belch of fiery burning embers. Sizzling through the air, they scored a hit on the pig monkey, causing it to reel around in writhing agony. Beating its arms around haphazardly, the Pokemon could do little to remove the burning coals as they singed into its skin. The slightest attempt to pluck them off was of little use as it was far too hot for the Mankey to grip onto. Eventually making a sudden high jump, the impact of reaching the ground caused the ember to fan off, leaving the opponent free from the burning perils. Now duly peeved, the Pokemon leapt up in the air again and by grappling a tree bunch, swung around once, building up momentum before coming crashing down, its arm in the position of a defined karate chop. Impacting Tyler's Pokemon, the Quilava recoiled back as it suffered from the blow. Another round on and it appeared neither had quite gained the advantage over the other. This was a close battle!

Ooc: Totally forgot to deduct a great ball last time around but I updating it after I post this so it will be the correct number. Also going to move Poltergeist from Marchbaby's pc to Tyler's pc.

After watching the second round Tyler was very pleased to see both Pokemon giving it all they had. Even though Mankey was nowhere near as strong as he knew it could be he was very impressed at the monkey's speed and power. He knew that against Bugsy Mankey would be worthless however in the journey ahead he knew a Primeape could be very helpful especially if the rumors of the Goldenrod city gym leader were true. His other fighting types were nowhere near as useful as a Mankey could be but even in it's weakened state Tyler was not sure if he would be able to capture the monkey. Ember had taken a lot out of the fighting type but it still had a burning passion to keep fighting even though it looked as if the monkey had walked through hell itself with the singed fur covering it's body. Volcano did not look great either after two powerful Karate Chops scored direct hits.
This put Tyler in a very awkward position as neither Pokemon would be able to last another round. He did not want to have Volcano lose to Mankey and he still had some great balls that he had purchased a while back. " Argh I cannot stand situations like this at all. No matter what I do there is a pretty big risk. The only good thing is the payoff should be quite nice if I make the right choice but the wrong choice will mean that I will have wasted my time trying to train Volcano instead of using a stronger Pokemon."
As Tyler weighed the different options carefully he was not a huge fan of any of them but he knew that the time to make a choice was running thin and he would have to make a choice very soon. As much as he hated to take risks in this sort of thing capturing the Mankey made the most sense as well as offering the highest overall payout for the rather decent risk of time and energy that he had put into this battle. Tyler looked at both Pokemon before he smiled at the Mankey. He was pretty impressed with how well it battled and he had a lot of great plans in store for the Mankey if he managed to capture it. Hoping for the best he grabbed one of his great balls as he yelled " go great ball capture this Mankey."
