VS. Geodude | Weecot seemed to be acting strangely, but that was no matter. Ethan was quick order him, though the Cottonee blinked lazily at the Geodude for a few moments before floating upwards. He floated there for a while longer before the crest on his head began glowing. It was his very intention to drag the very energy from the Geodude.
And man was it effective. The Geodude hardly knew what was happening to it, only that it was painful as the energy was gathered from its body and released in small green flecks, which focused and flowed into Weecot's body. Though since his HP was fine to begin with, the spores pattered out into an orange and vanished into a yellow powder.
But the Geodude was already done like Dynner. Haha...Dynner...did you see what Weecot thought about there? No? Well okay, fine, perfectly good pun wasted on a tough crowd. Weecot instead settled down back into his spot now that the battle was over. He felt a bit stronger.--Battle!Wild Geodude |Level 9| HP: 0/28 Status: I'm sorry what?;KO'D! Geodude couldn't attack!

Ethan cracked a smirk as he watched Weecot quickly ended the Geodude with the super effective Mega Drain. The rock and ground type Pokemon was quickly gone, as fast as the battle had started. He watched in amusement as the energy from the Geodude was transferred to Weecot, and the fluffy cotton Pokemon already had full health. He can't help but feel kept his smile that the Geodude had encountered him. Ethan did not smile with malicious intent, but he just found the coincident funny.
"Good Job, Weecot! Now you're getting stronger! Now take a rest and return!" the young trainer cheered for his Pokemon, despite the fact that the last battle was essentially an effortless one for the Cotton Pokemon. A flash of light from the Pokeball enveloped around the grass type, and he disappeared with the light, back into the shelter of Pokeball.
With that battle quickly ended, Ethan continued his way again to make progress walking in the Union Cave. Even though he could feel that he was getting closer to a gym battle, he calmly settled his emotion to focus on exiting this Union Cave. He had no idea how many minutes left until he would be done walking in this boring cave, but he made best use of his time by training his Pokemon on any trainer or Pokemon who would encounter him. Since he was calmed now, he thought in his head and began a spark of creativity, thinking if he could make a tune dedicating to journeying through this Union Cave, or the anticipation of a gym battle, or the process of training his Pokemon. Combined with the calmness of his mind and thinking of a tune, he was less distracted compared to thinking about the upcoming gym battle.

Weecot dispatched of the Geodude with pinpoint accuracy, even filling it's health in the process. (Not that it was a huge worry, as this cave was full of things the Pokemon could obliterate with one or two drains...) Geodude hit the ground with an unceremonious thunk, bits and pieces of it's rocky body crumbling with the impact. The sound echoed through the cave, sounding like someone had kicked a pebble into the side of the wall. It wasn't a very loud sound, but for some of the Pokemon hiding within the cave, it was too loud.
Whismur stirred from it's slumber, immediately grabbing it's ears and pulling them down over it's eyes in fear. What was that? It was far too loud, like an earthquake knocking at it's den! Or a rockslide about to crush it! The poor, quiet Pokemon shuddered in fear for a few minutes to itself before another sound graced it's ears. Footsteps. It was death, ready to knock on it's door! Or, perhaps a trainer, and that was worse than death! It shuddered to itself for a few seconds before lifting one of it's ears to peek outside it's den. A trainer was coming, and that was bad news for Whismur.
The trainer was probably the source of all this chaos and noise! Whismur's lip quivered and it threatened to explode into loud noises and whining as Whismur were quite capable of. However, a thought crossed the timid Pokemon's mind. What if it released that cry on the trainer, and perhaps scare it off so Whismur could sleep in fearful peace? Deciding this was the best route to take, Whismur wriggled out of it's den and stood in the middle of the path to face the incoming trainer. Before he could react, Whismur began to wail in an upsetting manner. It'd probably be wise to let a Pokemon out and battle to shut the thing up.
Wild Whismur has been disturbed! (Level 9) Will you Fight or Flee?

After defeating the Geodude and continuing down the road of Union Cave, it didn't take Ethan a long time until he encountered the next wild creature in this cave. It was a Whismur! Being an inspiring DJ in the music business, he knew what a Whismur was. However, he stared at the normal Pokemon for a good several minute as he thought to himself if he would needed a Whismur and the evolution. He asked himself if he needed the kind of sound that the sound-making Pokemon produces, or he would need a different kind of sound-based Pokemon.
He grabbed a Pokeball on his hand and tossed it in the air, casually. "Go, Ratz! Use Quick Attack on the Whismur!" The Pokeball revealed to contain a purple rodent who was more or less the same size as the Whismur, if not smaller. The Rattata squeaked and sniffed the unfamiliar air of a cave. Then, upon seeing the Whismur from the very thin ray of sunlight peaking in through the cave, the mouse charged forward and began dashing toward the opponent, who was equally of the same, normal type. Meanwhile, Ethan reached into his pocket for an empty Pokeball, readying himself to capture this Pokemon once Ratz weakened the opponent good enough.

Having stepped out of it's den in order to scare Ethan away with a high pitched cry, the Whismur began to falter as the opposite began to happen. Instead of scaring the human away, he instead grew closer, his eyes staring over the pink Pokemon. Shivering nervously with a quivering lip, the Whismur became even more nervous, uncertain as to why the human was staring so intently. It knew trainers were bad news, every now and again one would pass by, capturing anything that stepped in their path. It was happy in it's home and certainly didn't want to leave the protection of the dark, rocky walls of Union Cave. Gulping to itself as it's ears suddenly twitched, the sound of Ethan's rustling clothes as he moved his arm was all too loud and clear for the Whismur. Plucking a Pokeball from his belt, it left the Whismur with no choice but to stand tough and defend itself... Or atleast try it's best to.
Throwing an arm forward, Ethan had chosen a small purple rodent to aid him in capturing the sound Pokemon. Nattering his large fangs, the Rattata took a moment to adjust his eyes to the scarce amount of light. His instinct told him that he had been selected for battle, however, his attention immediately turning to the Whismur. Body once again trembling, the size didn't matter to the Whismur at all as pretty much anything and everything was terrifying to it. Opening it's mouth wide, it was once again going to try to warn them off by letting out on of it's signature screams when Ratz literally disappeared. Taking the Whismur off guard, the fact that Ratz had disappeared didn't worry the wild Pokemon but more so the fact that it couldn't hear anything at all. Suddenly reappearing behind the Whismur, it's guard was lowered so much that on impact, it received critical damage!
Crashing into the back of the pink normal type, the Whismur went rolling forward in shock, crashing into a the nearby cave wall. Slowly it stood back to it's feet, wobbling in a dizzy manner from left to right. It had no energy to battle anymore and thus, it ran straight into the depths of the cave, unable to be captured.

When the battle continued, the outcome wasn't what Ethan had expected. His original plan to weaken the opponent was backhand slapped by the rare chance of critical hit. He was actually quite surprised from this, and cringed as the Whismur rolled onto a wall, and then ran away in horror. He shook his head silently in the dark, and then smiled that luck was randomly with him just now.
"Well... Good Job Rattata! We'll find another Whismur or something. Return and have some rest!" he muttered, and then proceeded to cheer the rodent who was getting stronger from the battles. He held out a Pokeball to return the Pokemon, and then Ratz disappeared in a red beam of light. He casually pocketed the Pokeball, and then continued walking down Union Cave.
With one hand on the wall gently sliding across the rocky cavern, he carefully walked for several minutes until he stopped to stretch. He took a few good minutes to stretch his arms, shoulders, legs, hips, and neck before continuing. As he was pausing to perform stretching, his head was slightly inspired based on the whispers from the Whismur that he encountered earlier. However, the tune didn't make sense or energize him. After he was done stretching, he picked up his pace and continued on down the path, trying to see if he would encounter anything before he sees the exit.

Union Cave- - - - - - - - - - - - Ethan's pause to stretch had attracted the notice of a Pokémon lurking just out of sight, attention snagged by each section he worked on. The Pokémon was definitely intrigued by a human who was attentive to their body. Stepping round the corner as Ethan walked off, a lone Makuhita watched him disappear before making up its mind. It simply had to challenge that trainer! Even if he didn't want to take the pudgy Fighting-type along with him, the ensuing battle would be a good test of Makuhita's own training style and strength. Smile lighting up its broad face, Makuhita hustled along the tunnel after Ethan, its steps sure-footed and light despite its girth.
Calling Union Cave home had its benefits, one of which was knowledge of shortcuts, Makuhita ducking down one of these. It was unlikely it would catch up to Ethan before he exited to the cave by merely jogging along, and so its only option would be to cut him off. Extricating itself with slight difficulty from the rather narrow chasm in the tunnel wall, Makuhita popped out and landed with a heavy thump before Ethan, turning to face him properly.
It bowed to him, head almost brushing the rocky ground, and then straightened up with a sunny smile. Punching its two fists together and then punching them forwards, Makuhita made its intent to battle hopefully known. So rarely did it find interesting humans in this dreadfully dark cave that it would be properly upset to have not seized this wonderful opportunity.
Attention!
A wild Makuhita (Level 14) has appeared before you! Will you fight or flee?

As Ethan continued walking in the Union Cave, he was suddenly stopped by a pudgy Pokemon, who managed to squeeze through a tiny space inside the wall and popped itself to reveal itself. He had to stopped himself from walking further, as he was startled briefly, and almost crashed onto the Pokemon. Then, the young trainer watched as the fighting type Pokemon did some very human things, such as bowing, pounding its fists together, and what seemed like a body language to communicate the fact that it wanted to challenge Ethan's Pokemon to a battle.
Ethan smiled, as he welcomed any wild Pokemon to battle with his Pokemon, so that he could train his Pokemon. "Well... Hello! If you want a battle, then here's one for you," he greeted the Pokemon, bowing just his head by moving it downward. Then, he grabbed a Pokeball on his hand and prepared to toss the sphere. "Go, Wavy! This Makuhita wants a fight and we should give it one! Start off with a Bubblebeam!"
Out from the Pokeball, a Maril bounced her feet for a little bit first, and then stopped. The water Pokemon stared at the fighting Pokemon for a bit, then began giggling. She was just making fun of the Pokemon's funny red circles on its cheek! She'll get to executing her move in a bit, as she was enjoying and laughing!

Makuhita pressed it's fists together once more and dipped it's head, thankful that the trainer had accepted it's battle request. Although the trainer seemed a bit awkward and easily startled (given that Makuhita had appeared rather quickly) a battle was a battle, and Makuhita watched with an unrivaled sense of anticipation as the trainer released the Pokemon Makuhita would do battle with. The bouncy blue mouse? Was this a worthy challenge? Makuhita hadn't seen the likes of this particular Pokemon before, but it knew better than the judge a warrior by any visual it may give. However, it did allow itself to be annoyed as the Marill giggled at Makuhita.
The trainer gave a command for Bubblebeam, and Makuhita pieced a few things together. Bubblebeam was a water type move, and if the mouse was blue, that meant he was dealing with a water Pokemon. Deductive reasoning was important for Pokemon in the wild, especially such disciplined ones like this particular Makuhita. Once the Marill had finished it's giggling and taunting, Wavy's mouth opened to spew forth a stream of bubbles towards Makuhita. Although the fighting Pokemon was deft and quick, there was no dodging the bubbles no matter which direction it went. As they popped into Makuhita, it took it's damage.
Wiping it's face, Makuhita did it's best to rid itself of the excess water before shuffling it's feet like a boxing move. Although they looked more sumo-esque, different fighting styles were often used. After all, if one could be bested by only knowing one type of style, they couldn't call themselves a great fighter. So, Makuhita shuffled over and began to hit the Marill, once, twice, thrice, plus two extra punches. Marill fell backwards, rolling a few times as it was quite easy being that spherical. Makuhita brushed off it's hands and returned to it's side of the battlefield, refusing to engage in any sort of leering, jeering or taunting. Ethan watched the battle amusingly, as if this particular Pokemon was just unique in its own way of greeting a human, and executing a move. The way that the Makuhita set up its stance and performed the punches intrigued the trainer for a bit, though he was worried how much damage the move would hit his own Pokemon.
"Good Job Wavy," he cheered, shouting right after his Pokemon got back up from rolling on the ground. Wavy got back up and patted her body to brush some dirt and mud off, though with her short arms she couldn't reach a lot of the places. "Now go for a Bubblebeam again!"
He watched as his Pokemon got into the attacking carefulness again. The Makuhita looked quite healthy from the lat hit, so he figured that the Bubblebeam would take some time to wear out the opponent. The Marill squeaked energetically, and maybe a bit grumpily that her insult was basically went ignored, and slowly walked a bit closer to the Makuhita before firing her bubble gun.

As the round began again, Makuhita punched it's fists together and gave a slight bow before a mischievous glint in it's eyes took over. After fully straightening itself out from the bow, Makuhita rushed forward with a surprising speed. Even Wavy was startled as she squeaked with surprise as the fighting Pokemon drew near much quicker than Wavy could have imagined. Sure, the punches were fast, but the little blue mouse felt as though a bait and switch had taken place. Makuhita was a larger Pokemon, and didn't look capable of such bursts. Expecting a painful punch, Wavy squeaked and tried to turn and run.
However, Makuhita slid to a stop, spraying up dust and finely chewed gravel from the path right into Wavy's eyes. The little water mouse immediately clawed at her eyes, irritating them further as she tried to rub the gravel out from her face. It took a few seconds, and a few tears were involved, but Wavy could see well enough to glare over at Makuhita with anger, puffing her cheeks out with irritation. And water. As the bubbles spewed forth, Makuhita was able to swiftly tumble forward, dodging the stream of water completely. It could have taunted, and yet it's sense of pride kept it from doing so. Instead, it merely sat at it's end of the battlefield, watching Wavy try to get the dust off of her face once more. Wild Makuhita - Level |14| Health: 38/48 Current Status: Who has silly cheeks now?! Ethan watched the battle nonchalantly, but then when the Makuhita sped up, he was just a bit confused what the opponent was trying to do as well. At first he thought his opponent have a priority move like a Quick Attack or something like that, along that line. Then, when the fighting type skid to a stop, the sand that was kicked up and flung toward Wavy made Ethan realized that Makuhita just used Sand Attack. His face didn't look happy after that, as the opponent was more tricky than he thought.
"You can do it Wavy! I want you to try Bubblebeam again! Aim when the Makuhita is close!" he yelled his suggestion loudly, as he had no plan to swap his Pokemon yet. It was just a small accuracy reduction, after all!
His Marill squeaked optimistically, and then began hopping a bit closer to the Makuhita's side. She was thinking maybe she just cannot fire her Bubblebeam from afar, and have to get just a bit closer range before firing the attack. She was hoping this would work, since she got some sand in her eyes, and it was a bit hard to see in this dim-but-still-bright cave.

It was a sound strategy. If you had trouble hitting from afar then surely nearing to your foe would mean more of a chance of landing a hit. At least, it worked out alright on paper. Sadly, in the context of battle it wouldn't be so easy. Despite being bulkier and ultimately slower than Wavy, the Makuhita was a certainly wily foe. Noticing the Marill had come ever nearer to it, the flabby Pokemon assumed a stance as if to flow into any number of positions in order to deal with the attack. Noticing the Pokemon inhale in a hearty amount of air, it appeared another beam like stream of bubbles would come flowing out. Sporting a cocksure smirk, the Makuhita merely lobbed the full force of its weight to one side and rather unexpectedly let the beam of bubbles go bursting straight ahead as its blubber narrowly dodged the blow. Eventually flinging back its hefty figure back into its original form, the Makuhita limbered itself up. Whilst Ethan's suggestion of moving in closer to try and land a hit worked well in theory for them it also had bit of a doubled edged facet to the idea in the fact it also meant that the Makuhita had virtually no chance of missing itself now. Stomping its stubby little feet apart as it built up momentum in its body, it struck a closed fist forward before slamming its right arm forward with an open palm to deliver a text book force palm attack. Landing squarely on Wavy's body, the poor Marill went flying through the air, the very wind knocked from its sails, before landing unceremoniously by Ethan's feet with a fair amount of distance now created between them. Flexing its muscles around, the Makuhita flashed off another cocky grin as seemed to think it was getting the upper hand of this fight. Despite being knocked around, there was still a chance Ethan and Wavy could take this home as a victory. It was usually when humans and Pokemon alike got too sure of themselves that they left themselves open for a downfall. Wild Battle

Well, with the Sand Attack causing Wavy's accuracy to go down, Ethan had a feeling that this battle would take longer. Despite this, he still want his Pokemon to try and win, even if it might seem troublesome. He thought in his head for a few seconds, humming softly to himself if he should switch up strategy. Then, upon remembering that his Marill had another move that could be useful, he shouted, "Wavy, use Charm! If Makuhita wants to be sly, then we'll do it too!"
Wavy squeaked and giggled as she knew exactly what to do. She quickly prepared herself to look as cute as possible, hoping that would deter her opponent from hitting her too hard. With her round body like that, it shouldn't be too hard to catch the opponent's attention on how adorable she was. After all, even evolving from Azurill, she still stayed cute, unlike other Pokemon that do not stay cute after evolution. Ethan folded his arm, and curiously watched how the next round of battle would turn out.

By trying another strategy, it seemed as if Ethan was a clever battler to tire out all options in order to secure victory. This time around, the order to unleash a full on charm offensive on the opponent would work a lot better this time around. Hopping forward with reasonable distance still between them, the aqua mouse batted its eyelashes with great emphasis as it created an incredibly, almost heart attack inducing, aura of cuteness. Blinking its squinting eyes, the Makuhita appeared to be somewhat confused by this sudden shift in battling styles. Having geared up with adrenaline coursing through its body to take on another attack from this blue rodent, it would be ultimately caught off guard. Leaning forward with its mouth open in a gormless manner, the Pokemon suddenly blushed as it gripped onto its chest. Taking in by the Marill's adorable charm, there was no doubt the move had landed successfully and bought about its desired effect. Now nervously fidgeting and looking a lot less confrontational about fighting against Wavy, it would be interesting to see if this bulky lout was bully enough to actually attack after such an adorable showing. Trying to tense its muscles up and go in with an attack, the Pokemon fumbled each time and appeared unable to attack. So wrought with not wanting to take on this cute foe but wanting to show off its dominance as a fighter, the Pokemon threw its arms by its sides. Looking up to the cave ceiling, the Pokemon let out a confused cry as it seemed to focus all of its energy to try and steel itself for battle next round. It definitely looked pumped up but any more cuteness from Wavy was sure to put a dent in whatever efforts in decided to follow through with. At this point, the Makuhita had well and truly been cut down to size. Wild Battle
