Round 5 - Vs. Janitor Chris- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - With Garbodor's appearance in the ring, those closest to the stage immediately scrambled backwards, almost trampling over each other in their haste to escape the stench. Only Chris seemed immune to the noxious odour that permanently followed his Pokémon around, his olfactory sense ruined after so many years working as a custodian and constant exposure to Garbodor itself. Arceus only knew what kind of filthy messes he'd seen in his life, another likely reason for his rambling. "You little toads better not leave me a massive mess to tidy up after you. I don't get paid enough for this!" Chris roared at the crowd, eyeing a group of rowdy teens that were busy throwing popcorn and candy at one another and shrieking with laughter. The crowd in general ignored his ranting, a wise move, though it only seemed to further irritate the elderly man who trailed off muttering. "Can you believe them? Last time a Gauntlet went down, some buffoon brought a Tauros out! And not only did the thing get stuck in the popcorn machine, it left dung everywhere!" the janitor growled, lifting his gaze from the floor to stare at Justin. No one had any respect for him, and if it weren't for the battles he did in the Gauntlet challenge, Chris likely would have gone completely mad by now. Garbodor didn't blink as Surreo was sent out, though the slightest crinkling of the material it was clad in around its eyes betrayed its jealousy when the crowd cheered wildly for Justin's Gallade. Why did they never applaud for it? Crossing its filth-encrusted arms, the trash heap Pokémon grumbled to itself while a crackling from the sound system rose above the noise. "IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOW-- I MEAN BATTLE! TOP CLASS VERSUS TOP TRASH! WILL CHRIS SWEEP THE COMPETITION, OR WILL TIGER BE THE ONE MOPPING UP THE LAST OF OUR GAUNTLET TRAINERS? LET'S HEAR IT FOR OUR FIGHTERS, FOLKS!" Ignoring the renewed cheering, Surreo closed his eyes and focused hard, a psychic purple glow enveloping him from head to foot. Eyes awash in the same glow, the Gallade lifted one blade-tipped arm, sending a wave of energy in Garbodor's direction. The wave seemed almost sentient as it halted in front of the Poison type, scattering into small orbs that hardened instantly with a single thought from Surreo. With another sweep of his arm, the psychic orbs moved at once and slammed into Garbodor with incredible strength, leaving the rubbish-clad Pokémon staggering. "Hang in there! Don't let no fancy pants Pokémon get you down!"Roused somewhat by the encouraging words from Chris, Garbodor fixed Surreo with a glare that promised retribution. "Give it all you got with Body Slam!" barked the wry old man, leaning heavily on his mop. Ambling forwards and scattering garbage in its wake, Garbodor picked up surprising speed as it approached Surreo and rammed into the Gallade hard enough to knock him to the floor. Worst of all, more trash had detached itself from Garbodor's body, consisting of old candy wrappers, banana peels, and half-eaten moldy hot dogs - all of which had unfortunately landed atop Surreo from the powerful blow dealt to him. "CLEAN UP ON AISLE TWO! TIGER'S GALLADE LAUNCHES AN AMAZING PSYCHIC STRIKE, BUT GARBODOR ENDURES AND GOES ON THE OFFENSIVE - ON BOTH GALLADE AND OUR POOR NOSES! IS THE END NIGH FOR OUR NEWEST CHALLENGER? WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE!"

Justin, er, Tiger... almost felt bad for the Janitor. After all, he probably did clean up after all these kids and people that come out late at night to watch the Gauntlet, whereas nobody respected him for it. His Pokemon was strong, and it seemed as though he'd earned his spot as the last Gauntlet fighter. However, that was probably the only thing keeping him from being completely disrespected and made fun of. His vhoice of Pokemon was... interesting, at best, and wasn't very popular from what Justin could tell. Many people hurtled backwards to try and find higher seats to escape the smell.
It would appear that's a very lonely man. His Pokemon is strong. I cannot defeat his trash Pokemon in one hit. He deserves respect. Surreo sent his thoughts to Justin, and the photographer thought for a few moments. Many of these Pokemon were taken out in one hit. The only ones that hadn't been were the last two. The competition was fierce indeed, it seemed. I feel kinda bad for him. It feels like nobody respects him. I couldn't deal with all these people treating me or my Pokemon like that.
This is true. To be fair, you don't have a Pokemon made of trash. Ah, battle time. Sensing the perfect moment to strike, Surreo began his psychic assault, causing massive damage to the Pokemon on the other side of the field. In retaliation, the man called out for a Body Slam. You owe me. Surreo growled, bracing himself. The Garbodor surged forward as best it could, slamming into Surreo. Some of the trash on it's body was left on the Gallade, who shook his arms to rid himself of it.
You've got... a uh, banana on your head. Do I? That's unfortunate.
Gingerly flicking off the banana peel, the Gallade stood straight up once more, proving that the hit was merely a flesh wound, and nothing to worry about. By the looks of it, Justin was probably going to win in the next round. However, he never liked to count his chickens before they hatched. "Surreo, let's Psyshock again. That was a great hit before." Surreo nodded, and extended his arm blades once more. Justin watched the old man lean on his broom, and then called out to him. "Not many Pokemon can stand up to Surreo, so it's really impressive!" Hopefully a compliment could help the man feel a bit better.

The janitor gave a groan as he saw a flash out of the corner of his eye. Whatever Pokemon had just been released, he was going to have to clean up after it. Focusing back on the battle, he subconsciously straightened up a bit at Justin's words of praise. " Really?" he said with a small twinkle in his eye. With renewed vigor, Chris returned to the battle. " Garbador!" he called with a happy grin plastered onto his face, " Use Sludge Wave!" As he watched his garbage monster obey his command, or attempt to at least, a warmth filled him. He felt like he could take on the world. He was ready to go back to work after this. Seeing the Psyshock hit his Pokemon saddened him, but he was still happy. He never got any compliments, so receiving one from the young trainer made him incredibly happy. The Garbador gave a loud roar as it attempted to send a wave of its garbage towards the Gallade. It could tell that it was fighting a loosing battle, but it didn't really matter. It's trainer was incredibly happy, and for that, it was happy. It happily accepted defeat by the hands, or blades, of the Gallade. Once the pink blade of energy hit it, it was done for. Falling down with a 'thud', the Garbador was left with a smile. Surren gave a nod to his trainer as he turned to the Garbador. His blades began to glow a slight pink as they charged with Psychic energy. Once the energy charged, he swung his arm blades forward. Two separate pink scythes separated from his arm blades and went flying towards the Garbador. They hit at the exact same time, yet only, counted as one hit. As the Garbador fell, he turned to Justin and gave a bow.

You will go far kid, and I, Janitor Chris, will be watching!" he said as he reached his hand out to shake Justin's.

At this point, it was now or never. Surreo was geared up for another attack, and the Janitor was going down in this next turn or shortly after. The crowd was pumped, and the tension hung in the air so thick Justin felt like he could cut it with a knife. Even if the tension wasn't that thick, the smell from the Garbodor certainly was. Wrinkling his nose in an attempt to alleviate it, Justin watched as it sloshed around. Surreo. Let's do the same thing over, and try and finish this before anything else happens. I don't need another garbage Pokemon, or for the police to show up or something and get us in trouble. Is this illegal? I'm sure this is probably illegal and i'm kind of uncomfortable.
Nervous at being thrown here in the first place, Justin cringed as Garbodor geared up for another attack. His Gallade, Surreo, picked up on his nervousness with amusement. Losing your cool there, Tiger? The Psychic Pokemon teased, narrowing his eyes in focus. I just want to go sleep. I want to breathe fresh air and surround myself with people that don't look like they could break me like a pencil. Well at least some of the girls in the audience are pretty. Besides, they seem to like the rough, tough tatted type like you. Surreo snickered to himself, and Justin rolled his eyes. You are so mean sometimes, you know that? You almost killed me as a Ralts. It's payback. Fine. Just... Psyshock and then you can tease me on the way back to the Pokemon Center.
Surreo's Psyshock knocked out the trash no problem, and it seemed as though Justin's words inspired a little bit of hope in the janitor. As the announcer went wild and crazy, the crowd doubled the noise and cheered for Justin and his Pokemon. Even Freyja seemed to wiggle weakly with excitement. "We did it!" Justin cheered, grinning cheekily while Surreo crossed his arms in an aloof manner. He was approached a few times by people congratulating him, people giving him a prize, patting him on the back, asking him who his artist was (seriously, he really wasn't a tattoo guy) and the like. Eventually Justin broke from the crowd and back into the Goldenrod streets where the air was crisp and clean. "Okay. Note to self... Let's not go chase after people in the dark again unless we're prepared to show off our tattoos, get a feline nickname, and battle all night. I think tomorrow is a celebration day. We rocked the Gauntlet." Justin reassured his team, and himself, before heading back to the Center for some well deserved sleep.
