As Joey reached the 4th floor of the lighthouse here was a rather large commotion at the top. An elderly Gentlemen was trying to reach the top floor but an Electabuzz was refusing to allow him to pass. The electric type was really close to the guardian of the Lighthouse and due to the recent circumstances it did not trust anyone but Jasmine being on the top floor of the lighthouse until things returned to normal and by the looks of things that was not going to be any time soon. The gentleman was pretty persistent however and he kept trying to talk the electric type into allowing him entry to the next floor. " Now see here I happen to know Jasmine go and ask her yourself she will tell you."Wlwctrabuzz still did not believe the man for the moment and as it stood at the bottom of the stairs the elderly man was about to give up hope until he heard Joey come up the stairs behind him. The man was rather desperate to get to the top floor and so he approached Joey before explaining the situation. " This Electabuss does not seem to want to allow anyone to go to the second floor but I have an idea that might just get it to let us by. Electabuss how about we let this man choose to battle one of use and if he wins against whoever he picks you let us by?" Although Electabuzz was not very happy about the idea it did not see any harm in at least letting the humans try to prove they could be trusted. "Buzz" It said as it looked over at the elderly man and Joey. The elderly man was glad to hear that ELectabuzz would at least give them a chance to earn passage to the top floor. " Thank you Electabuzz I am sure after the battle whoever he picks you will see we can be trusted. Now young man if you would be so kind please do pick who you wish to battle before Electabuzz changes it's mind and decides not to let us through." Joey can choose to battle Gentlemen Preston or the wild level 32 Electabuzz. Please choose his opponent.

Coming up to the next floor with a flurry of steps, Joey's concerns were now with Jasmine and her friend at the top of the lighthouse. With Team Rocket into the mix, it could only mean trouble. "I tell ya, if they got a suggestions box here i'm gonna wham in a request for an elevator. This is nuts!" Coming to the top of stairwell and making it onto the fourth floor, he skidded to a halt as he was greeted with the sight of a familiar Pokemon. Noting it was seemingly obstructing the way up to the fifth floor, Joey had to have a quick survey of the room to ensure it wasn't belonging to another Team Rocket goon. Instead, it seemed some old gentleman was trying to get through to the Pokemon. Jogging on over, he arrived mid sentence, just getting the tail end of what the old fellow was saying. "Yo old man, what's up?" Although one could misconstrue Joey's words as disrespectful to his elders, he delivered it in such a way that one wouldn't easily take offence. Thankfully it appeared this trainer wasn't the least bit concerned with Joey's greeting and proceeded to explain on about what was going on.
"So this Pokemon's wanting to protect 'em huh? I can dig that." Although many would brandish wild Pokemon as outlandish and unintelligible creatures, there were definite examples where they held the best intentions at heart and this was a true testament of this. Obviously picking up on the suffering of Jasmine's friend, it meant this influential Pokemon living in the lighthouse had taken it upon itself to ensure no more ne'erdowell people could sneak their way in to cause more trouble. Hearing the gentleman's idea to try and come to an amiable agreement, Joey grinned and pumped a fist passionate. "Alright! If it's proving ourselves, i'm game." About to click his fingers to summon Dante from the shadows, he was rather taken aback when a Pokeball on his belt holster opened up of its own accord. As the light died down to the size of him, he was greeted with the appearance of his heavy hitter, Voltek. "...This power." Likely having picked up on the Electabuzz's strength whilst idling in his Pokeball, it appeared Voltek had taken this upon himself to rise to the challenge. "I could feel the surge in electricity the moment we stepped on this floor. Incredible, you are powerful indeed." Staring down the Electabuzz, it looked as if the Electivire wanted to face off due to the Pokemon's inner strength.
Turning to Joey, Voltek bowed his head respectfully. "Joe, if you would allow me this honour." Picking up on the fact Voltek was so charged up over the prospect of a fight, he grinned confidently and nodded his head conclusively. "Go for it. Just do it." Looking over to the gentleman, Joey gave him a thumbs up. "Voltek here will help us gain the trust of the Electabuzz." Turning his head to look back at the Electric type, Joey let out a laugh, his grin still present. He had gone through a lot whilst training Voltek in his Electabuzz years. It was at a time where Voltek had gone off the rails so he was fully aware the extent of their capability. Stepping forward up to bat, Voltek punched his fists together before looming forwards to assume a battling stance. "Friend, I wish to see your power first hand. But know this, I will go at this with all my strength." Not wanting to go too all out, Joey strategised the least overpowered move. If this Pokemon had earnt the attention of Voltek, there was a chance to recruit a powerful ally. "Alright Voltek, let's dab an Ice Punch. Right hook!" The Electivire's fist clenching, he looked over to the Electabuzz and awaited a move.

Choosing to fight the Electabuzz rather than the gentleman, the elderly man took a step back to allow ample room for the two electric type Pokemon to battle. "Very well, young man. I hope the Electabuzz will sense the type of person you are. Maybe then we can finally approach Jasmine." Worried about the young Gym Leader, for now Preston had to let Joey take the reigns in order to tame the protective Electabuzz. If they could win it's trust, then they could progress and who better to use than the final evolution of the Elekid line. "An Electivire? This will be a most interesting spectacle indeed." Looking up from it's spot, the Electabuzz grunted at the sight of Voltek, listening to the Electivire's words. Wanting nothing more than to offer respect to the Electivire, the care it held for the Ampharos in the next room forbade it to do so. Humans had hurt it's friend and thus was not allowed to get to the top, Jasmine being the only exception.
Voltek had voiced his goal to win quite clearly but the wild Electabuzz was fighting for something so much more important which fuelled it's electrifying passion. Pounding it's fists together, the Electabuzz approached Voltek without a shred of fear, rogue sparks of electricity crackling off of it's body. Looking one another dead in the eye, the tense atmosphere that began to rise would be enough to worry even the strong of heart. Shifting into a fighting posture instinctively, Voltek reacted off Joey's command. Pulling back a mighty fist, ice cold air began to swirl and as if by magic, an icicle chunk cloaked the hand of the Electivire. Jabbing it forward with a mighty swing, the Electabuzz held up it's arms defensively to try and block some of the attack, but it was almost akin to getting struck by an icy mace.
Feeling the cold punch strike into the side of it's body, the pain spread across the Electabuzz's system like wild fire before it's body propelled into a painful spin, falling and rolling against the floor. Eyes wide, the Electabuzz had never faced such immense strength. It was almost frightful. Staggering to it's feet, the Electabuzz held it's spare arm forward, creating a light screen to protect itself from further moves. Breathing heavily, the Pokemon was finding it difficult to remain standing but it was going to do everything within it's power to keep the fight going.

Observing intently as he watched Voltek strike forward with the Ice Punch hit, it was something that Joey could find great pride in. Having had the move tutored to Voltek whilst they were in Ecruteak, it had meant he had unlocked a very special affinity that could be used to great advantage in battle. An offensive and defensive move if there ever was one. "Give it all ya got Volt!" Cheering him on, it was almost immediate the effects of the impact. Feeling a chilling wave of freezing air spread out from the two duelling Pokemon, Joey hadn't been quite ready for the dramatic change in temperature. Trying to watch on intently, Joey was further impressed by the tenacity and resilience of the Electabuzz. Having guarded itself with a perfect shield of its arms, it meant the Pokemon was very much still in the game. Voltek too was impressed. His fist still braced against the defending Pokemon's arms that had done their best to block, he complimented his prowess. "Not many have lived to tell the tale after such a blow. You are a truly worthy foe!" Understanding the rules of battle, Voltek retracted his fist and awaited to see what sort of counter his foe would employ.
Voltek enjoyed the challenge of battle but it wasn't as often as this that he was truly indulged in the way his opponent would react. Amazingly, even when met with such a fighter as Voltek, gifted with incredible levels of strength, the Pokemon would not strike back but instead, acting as protector yet to its friends above, summoned a light reflective screen which acted as a protective barrier to it. "Oh man! Even in a tough pinch like this, the Electabuzz is still trying to ward us off from advancin'. You gotta give credit, where credit is due." Standing back whilst in an offensive stance, Voltek worriedly looked over the situation before growling over his shoulder to Joey. "These barriers... Even I will have trouble breaking them." Lunging forward with a hefty punch, his fist was rebounded as it appeared this wasn't just any ordinary light screen. "Argh. Damn... Looks like this spectacle is gonna have to wait." His hand swiftly delving into his hip bag, he pulled out a blue and yellow designed ball and primed it in a slick manner. "Voltek, get back. I'll handle this." Turning his attention to the Electabuzz, Joey hoped to be up front. "I can tell you'd be right at home with us and I really respect what ya doin' but this ain't the time. We need to hurry up and help Jasmine and her friend!" Pitching the capsule forward, Joey's apparent stupidity hadn't really accounted for the fact the light screens were up but it seemed the ball was so technologically advanced it could infiltrate through without a problem.

Setting up a protective barrier which would both aid it in battle and also halt any progress to the next floor, this Electabuzz was certainly determined to not allow anyone to pass. Still, it's eyes focused on Voltek, ruffling it's fur to shake off some remaining shards of ice. He had certainly proved himself to be a worthy opponent and maybe under different circumstances, it would've participated in more of a fist fight. When accepting the conditions with the elderly gentleman, neither of the two quite realised just how strong Joey was to begin with. Full of surprises with his specially taught moves, it had given the Electabuzz a cause for concern. Another blow such as that would easily finish it off and deep down, the electric type wasn't a good loser. Grumbling the cry of it's species, it also knew that Voltek was going to be much harder to bring down. Setting up barriers was the only unique attack it had and although Voltek approached with another punch that quickly deflected, it would only be a matter of strikes before he would've been able to break through.
Instead, Joey stepped forward and took hold of the reigns, certain that he was going to lead himself to victory in order to reach Jasmine. With a throw of his arm, the biker released a special ball which flew through the air, quickly colliding with the Electabuzz's barrier. Faced with a man made object, the wild Pokemon tensed it's body, trying to strengthen the barrier to deflect the ball, also. However, it continued to spin at a rapid rate, possessing a certain power that was able to overcome the attacks of wild Pokemon. Spinning rapidly, the ball continued to grind against the surface until succeeding in breaking through. Surprising the Electabuzz, it wasn't able to make any last minute attempts to destroy the ball and was instead drawn inside. Disappearing into the object, it rocked back and forth until it settled down to a halt.
WIGGLE. WIGGLE. WIGGLE. . . . TING!

Keeping up his battle stance, Voltek allowed the ball to soar past but seemed rather determined to breach through the light screens put up as if inspired by the Quick Ball's success. Punching forward with a few deft cross chops along with ice encrusted fists, nothing appeared to be doing the trick against the remaining barriers. " This Electabuzz... He is a formidable foe. Had we faced one another under different circumstances, the fight would have been no doubt a perilous one. But there is one final tactic I can try." Finishing off with a curt growl, Voltek stood book and limbered his body up. Raising a fist and clenching it, the moment he did it brimmed with electrical current, sparking off energy in all directions. " Koooooooh...!" As if steadying his breath, he punched forward in a bid to overcome the field. Amazingly having concentrating properly, the light reflective screen appeared to shatter to pieces. The moment it did, it seemed as if the Quick Ball had served its purpose. Having rocked back and forth, the ball clicked with a satisfying echo. " Haha! Alright! If that doesn't prove we're worthy of trust, I dunno what will." Dashing forward, Joey picked up the ball and wasted no time in summoning the newly acquired Electabuzz forward. Recalling how rampant and monstrous Voltek had been during his time as one, he was wary to get too close. However, even upon the moment of summoning, Joey could tell this Pokemon was a lot calmer in disposition. " So, we gotta deal or what? You said we'd pass if we proved ourselves?" His hands resting on his belt at the sides, Joey grinned sincerely as he awaited the Pokemon's response. Folding its lengthy arms, the Pokemon nodded, before looking to Voltek. Muttering something indecipherable but understood by Voltek, Joey raised a curious eyebrow but decided not to intrude. Instead, they had much more important matters to deal with. " We ain't got time guys! C'mon, let's go and see if we can help! Yo gramps, stay guard. There was a no good Rocket snoopin' about so I bet this has somethin' to do with it." Storming past, Voltek and the newly acquired Electabuzz nodded, dashing on after the free spirited rogue. - Joey, Voltek and Elektek make their way to 5F - OOC: Wheee so glad I got this. Now to go for this Elekid quest once this is done. Joey's gone up to 5F. Just in case people miss out, they have met before, just check the Olivine Archives for the thread. ElectabuzzName: Elektek Gender: MaleLevel: 32 Attacks: Swift, Thunder Wave, Electro Ball, Light Screen Ability: Static Nature/Personality: Originally standing in as a protector at Glitter Lighthouse whilst Amphy was ill, Elektek acts as a counterpart to Voltek in the fact that Elektek boasts a more special inclined offensive to Voltek's physical. Considerate, just and fair the Pokemon embodies very honourable ideals. Although, because of these traits, they can sometimes get in the way of matters.

Together, the trio went up the final flight of stairs, quickly making it to the top of the lighthouse. As the emerged onto the final floor, the first thing to likely grab their attention sat in the middle of the room, the source of light, otherwise known as a lamp. But it didn't seem to be working at all, affirming some comments which were likely made from others during his journey up the building. The view from the top was spectacular, as the glass panels gave a full, circular view of all that surrounded them, including the vast sea ahead. But Joey hadn't ascended the building to find one of the best views in Johto. He was looking for a particular someone, who turned out to be the only other person in the room. Kneeling down by the wall, the slender female was crouched beside a Pokemon who looked incredibly sickly. Struggling to breath and visibly shaking and sweating, the Pokemon known as Ampharos was likely the Amphy she had mentioned during their gym fight.
Jasmine's ears picked up on the sound of approaching footsteps, immediately drawing in her attention. Though as she turned to see who was approaching, Joe received a full view of her face. Flustered red and tearful, the girl wore a surprised expression, recognising him immediately and wiping down her face. Speaking out in her usual soft and delicate voice, her tone was a little shaky. "Joey?... Is that you?" Hardly able to mistake such a rough looking challenger, she stood to her feet to greet him properly, although she couldn't take her eyes away from her sick friend. "I'm... sorry. I wasn't able to focus on our battle... Because Amphy is so sick..." Likely being able to piece together the fact that the Ampharos was ill and he recently bumped into a member of Team Rocket, Jasmine perhaps had the last few pieces to confirm his suspicions. "For a while... I have been seeing a shadowy figure here... Ever since, Amphy has been becoming sicker... "
Her hands raising to her face as she tried to hold back any further tears at the sound of Ampharos gasping for air, it was obvious that her body was trembling. "I want to help Amphy... I've heard there is a Pharmacy in Cianwood but I can't leave..." A thought suddenly hitting her, she slowly turned to face Joey properly. Clearly vulnerable and weary, whatever she was weighing in her head was difficult for her to channel into words. "Joey... Would you go in my place?... If Amphy is healed, the sea will be lit up again... Please... I know I am asking a lot.. but I will reward you for your trouble..." Giving Joey the chance to help her, the girl turned and sat back down with Amphy. Using a small wet towel to try and lower the Pokemon's temperature, if Joe didn't help, there would be no saying what could happen to the poor thing.

Realising he needed to get to the top, Joey wasted no time in running up the stairs. Going around and around in circles in such a repeated manner made it obvious they were almost at their destination. Skidding with a sudden halt as he made it to the top, Joey looked around primarily to find where Jasmine was but also his attention was diverted secondarily by the incredible grandeur of the fifth floor itself. Considering it was a glass encasement right at the very top, providing an incredible view to the beautiful ocean bay and also the world above the harbour city of Olivine. " Woah... This is..." Not often stumped for words, Joey found himself trailing off as he decided to take in the mesmerising scenery he had stumbled upon. His appreciation of the world around him would soon come to an end however. With both Voltek and Elektek now joining his position, their presence had bought upon the attention of who they had been looking for. Jasmine. As she recognised his face and called out to him, he was a little concerned by how distraught she looked. Their fight for her gym badge had seen her display some pretty big distractions and bit by bit as he ventured around the city and beyond he had come to realise what had been getting her so worked up. Speaking of her friend, it seemed after putting two and two together that her friend was also the source of the lighthouse beacon. A Pokemon. Ampharos. " Jasmine! I thought i'd swing by this way after you recommended headin' to Cianwood because of the pharmacy having stuff that might help with Slash. Even got the Storm Badge out of it too." Trying to lighten the mood by thumbing at the badge on his lapel, he could tell any of his efforts would be a waste of time. Seeing how red her face was, how tearful her eyes, it was clear she was deeply worried about this Pokemon. Moving in closer with Voltek and Elektek in tow, he listened to her apologise and he shook his head. " No, no, no. You ain't got to apologise. I knew somethin' was up. You seemed a lil' off but even then, you still taught me a thing or two about takin' gym fights seriously. Hell, think even Slash ain't gonna be such a reckless toerag." Even with things as dire as they were, Joey still forced a grin. Times like this, he didn't want to admit defeat by falling into despair. Even if they were ill suited, he'd rather joke than dwell on the problem. His eyes falling down to the sick and feverish Ampharos, he remained quiet as even he had trouble running from the crux of the matter. Noting how terrible it looked, he knew they would have to act fast if they wanted to cure what ailed the poor creature. " This is Amphy? You mentioned its name a few times... Guess it makes sense." As she mentioned about the shadowy figure, Joey's face became sullen as he decided it was best she knew. " I don't think you'll have to be worryin' about that shadowy presence no more. On the way up I bumped into some Team Rocket grunt. She kept a tight lip but no doubt them bein' here and Amphy not gettin' better... They've done somethin'." His fist tightening, it made Joey near well explode. He knew they were the lowest of the low but a ploy like this was beyond forgiving. Having relayed the information about the Rocket member, Joey was quick to follow at what she was requesting next. Putting a reassuring hand on her shoulder, he nodded his head, a trusting, decent glint in his eye. " Jas, you don't have to even finish that sentence. I know exactly what to do. When I was at the pharmacy I saw all sortsa medicine. I'll get what Amphy needs. Don't even think about tryin' to tempt me with a reward because i'd do this anyway." Nodding his head and this time smiling with a genuine laugh he was more than happy to help. " Consider this me owing you back for pointin' in the right direction with Slash. Whatever this medicine is. I'll get it. Even if I have to swipe it when they're not lookin'..." Trailing off with an inaudible mumble to himself, he looked to Voltek and Elektek. " You guys mind guardin' here? I've got a gut feelin' Team Rocket might try something. With you guys and Jasmine here i'm pretty sure they're screwed." Moving over to the open doors that led out to a balcony of sorts. Joey scanned the horizon before turning back around and nodding to Jasmine. " We gotta get this fast. I ain't no doc but I know poison when I see it and that ain't any ordinary toxin at work there." A daredevil grin now etched deep into his face, he let out a hearty laugh before taking a few more steps backwards towards the edge. " I'll be back before you can name all the cities in Johto. Haha!" Leaping backwards over the edge, it was a jarring sight to see. Given how high the lighthouse was and the fact he had no gear to land safely, it seemed as if Joey had leapt to his death. Moments later however, the sound of beating wings could be heard and as a new sight came into view, it appeared the rogue had landed on Salazar who had been surveying the lighthouse from outside. Giving them a cheeky salute, he pushed his weight to the side and with a roar, Salazar flew off back over the horizon to the only place that would stock a cure to save Jasmine's friends.

Making short work of the sea between Cianwood and Olivine, Joey squinted his eyes against the breeze of the wind as he tried to focus on the lighthouse they were fast approaching. " Not bad! You've got the hang of this flying lark!" Letting out a fiery snort, Salazar came to an emergency stop as he beat his wings in an opposite direction so that they avoided colliding with the lighthouse. Saving him from having to ascend to the top once more, he let Joey jump off as he made his way back onto the balcony. His hand still tightly gripping the medicine the couple had given him, he went darting over to where Jasmine and the Ampharos were. " Jasmine! I GOT IT!" Wasting no time, he stood in front of her as he extended out his hand, the medicine presented ready to be administered. " The elderly couple in the pharmacy were moved by what was happening so they rustled this concoction up. Apparently its some kinda miracle cure all that oughta to get Amphy back up to their usual perky selves." Allowing her the chance to take the satchel, he looked over to Voltek and Elektek who had stood guard as he had asked them. " Nice one guys. Hopefully we can make everyone aware of Team Rocket being up to no good. What with all the trainers we bumped into, i'm sure they'll all group together in order to prevent any more. That grunt we saw before ain't gonna pull the same trick twice." Nodding his head, Joey was determined to unite everyone against Team Rocket and this would be a good test to see if he could get other trainers to work together to stamp out the criminal actions of Team Rocket. From what he had seen and has been the case before when the original Team Rocket had managed to worm their way into power back in Kanto was that so many people seemed intimidated and swayed by the mob's influence. Given how much of a beating they had taken from a mere ten year old kid, he was sure that by standing together there would be no chance for the group. Looking back to Jasmine and then to Amphy, Joey smiled. " So? Does Amphy look any better?" As worrying as the toxic poison had seemed in how badly it was affecting Amphy, Joey was at least confident in the fact he and Salazar had made a speedy trip there and back.

Already surprised by the way Joey had left much earlier, his reappearance on the balcony wasn't anything near as surprising. The sound of heavy, beating wings capturing her attention, Jasmine stood to her feet in anticipation for the news, her hand cradling the side of Ampharos' head. Remaining silent and worried, her eyes immediately widen as Joe voiced his success, handing her some form of medicine which was obtained from the Cianwood Pharmacy. "I see!... Amphy only takes medicine from me... So please wait a moment." The image of crossed fingers in her mind, Jasmine knelt down by the side of her friend and began to give the Pokemon the medicine. Placing her trust in Joe and not believing that this was something to be suspicious of, with the first tablet pushed into the Pokemon's mouth, it brought on a reaction almost instantly. Amphy's painful, flinching expression relaxing, it's jaw began to slowly turn as it swallowed the medicine, eyes beginning to open tiredly.
"Amphy!" Jasmine spoke with a little more energy, "How are you feeling?" Her hand running across the Ampharos' head, she could already feel that it's temperature was starting to drop to something much more normal. Although the medicine wasn't enough to get Ampharos bouncing around, the sudden change was incredible. Already, Amphy's head was high and alert, a weak yet happy cry calling out from it's mouth at the sight of Jasmine. Placing a delicate hand over her chest, the Gym Leader turned to face Joey and did something most would believe she was unable to do with how solemn she usually was. Wearing a radiating smile which would've been likely enough to cure Amphy itself, she bowed her head politely to the thief. "Thank you so much... For your help! Amphy looks a lot better now." So pleased, she looked over at the Ampharos again, watching as her friend became much like it's regular self.
"It isn't much but... Please take this. It is the least I could do... After what you did for Amphy." Stepping toward him, the soft voiced girl held out two items within her hands, offering him the choice to choose either one. "One is... A Metal Coat. It will help an Onix become a Steelix... The other is a Light Ball, for a Pikachu... I'm sure they would come in handy..." A small smile on her face, it was as clear as day that Jasmine was genuinely thrilled with the outcome. So much so, that something struck her memory. Maybe due to Voltek and Eletek also being close by. "Somewhere in the Lighthouse is an Elekid... It used to help in the Lighthouse but then it became bored and started to play games... If you find it, would you let it know that Amphy is okay?... It might want to play with your Pokemon, if it saw them...It may even want to travel with you."
Trailing off, she gave one last bow of her head to Joey, "I am truly grateful... Thank you, for saving my friend." Tending back to Amphy, it gave Joey the chance to either begin his search for the hiding Elekid or continue with his adventure.
The Secret Potion was a success and Amphy has been cured! To thank Joey, he may choose either a Metal Coat OR a Light Ball! The Glitter Lighthouse Side Quest: Hide or Seek is now unlocked!

Having presented to Jasmine the wondrous medicine he had obtained, Joey stood back, giving both Jasmine and Amphy some breathing space. Aware of the tight bond between them, he got the understanding that Amphy's trust in strangers had likely been desecrated thanks to the cruel machinations of the Team Rocket that had been poisoning it. " Let's hope this works." Joey murmured to himself pensively. From the medicine that had been used to help recover Slash awaken from out of his comatose state, Joey at least had some faith in the effect of the medicine they created. Standing there observant still as both Voltek and Elektek moved in closer, they all blinked as Amphy ate up the tablet. Their apprehension would soon dissolve however as it appeared the secret medicine had an almost instantaneous effect. With the Pokemon opening its eyes wearily but perking up somewhat, Joey grinned raucously as Voltek straightened up, nodding his head. Elektek had a wry smile develop over his expression. They had succeed in circumventing the Rocket's plan. " Hahaha! Amphy looks loads better!" Joey rung out, although realising him being that boisterously loud wasn't too great an idea and settled himself down. As he did, he looked over to Jasmine and was met with the most peculiar sight. He had bumped into Jasmine a number of times now. At her gym, in the lighthouse and each time they had met she was always quite subdued in her expression. Seeing this radiating smile from her was enough to make Joey smile back as he realised they had done a truly good deed today. Thanking him, Joey raised a hand and used it to scratch the back of his neck as he dismissed her praise. " Hey, you don't have to thank me. I think any trainer in their right mind would go out their way to help ya. Least yer friend can recover now." Following her line of sight back over to Amphy, Joey grinned. It had been a while since they had been given the opportunity to help out another such as this what with soldiering on trying to sort out his own problems. If anything, this served as a reminder to stop and smell the roses every so often. He was aiming to reach the goal of champion. With it came diplomatic immunity but if he truly wanted to be earnt a reprieve for some of the less than honourable things he had done then the way forward was to earn the people's support. Not only would he have such strong ties supporting him but it'd also win people over on his side in destroying the set up Team Rocket had done in framing him and the biker federation he ran with all the way back when this messy business of exiling himself to Johto had begun. Clearly still wanting to thank him further, Joey watched as she bought forward two items, explaining them both. Pulling a thoughtful expression, it would be tough as both of which would be of some use to two Pokemon in particular that he trained. " So one would power up an Onix into a Steelix and the other strengthen a Pikachu." Letting out a single laugh, he crossed an arm whilst using the other hand to scratch the stubble on his chin. " Tough one but..." His hand extending out, he grasped the Light Ball and bought it closer to him to examine. " Puka's been with me for a long while and I think after the lil' buddy helped me swim across the ocean he deserves it." Pocketing it away, he looked back to Jasmine. " Usually I don't accept stuff like this but I think it'll be something nice to remember you all by. Our gym battle, the perilous journey from Olivine to Cianwood and then this whole matter with Amphy." About to say his farewells, he was shocked when Jasmine continued on, informing him of one other tasty morsel of information. One in which he wouldn't be able to pass up on. His expression inquisitive, he listened carefully, at which point both Voltek and Elektek leaned in, curious themselves. " An Elekid huh? Haha. May just have to go and search for this little fella. Thanks, i'll be sure to keep a look out for him. I think now it's time I headed back on my journey." Listening to her thank him one more time. Joey gave her a casual salute and nodded with his typical cocky grin. " No problem. Seeya around." Turning around, he at least had the sensibility to take the stairs down than leaping off the side of the lighthouse. As they trawled their way down, Joey stopped off to a number of trainers and informed them all of the Rocket that had slipped through. Given these trainers hung out here quite often and all seemed to be quite passionate about the well being of Amphy, Joey was assured there were suitable resistances in place should they try another attempt on Amphy's life. Finally making their way out of the lighthouse, Joey walked over a little while down the path before turning to look at both Voltek and Elektek. " Didn't see that Elekid that Jasmine was talkin' about. Bit of a shame but the show most go on. Hm?" Turning to see a bush rustling quite frenetically, Joey raised a curious eyebrow. " Hey, one of you lads want to check it out?" Looking to one another, it would be Elektek that decided to go. Moving over, the Pokemon remained cautious but cleared the bushes apart to find the culprit of the mayhem being caused. Joey begins Hide & Seek sidequest! Elektek checks the bushes for the cause of the rustling.

Olivine City- - - - - - - - - - - - - Elekid had long ago fled the lighthouse, although most weren't aware the mischievious imp had even left, merely assuming it to be playing with the odd few wild Pokémon that dwelled there. Although it was more than capable of caring for itself, perhaps it had grown fond of the lighthouse and didn't want to stray too far, choosing to stick around in case anything interesting happened. So it wasn't surprising a rustling bush would prove a tempting lure to Joey and his Pokémon... not that Elekid would make this little search easy on them by being around. As Elektek began shifting the shrubbery around, a sound rang out loud and clear, giving him pause.
The sound itself had been a bit hard to distinguish, only prompting the Electabuzz to shrug and continue his search. Again came the same sound, this one more discernible as an angry hiss - definitely not the sound an Elekid would likely make. Elektek froze as his arm brushed against coarse fur, greenery parting to reveal a stirring rodent with tan and cream fur. Some static electricity jumped from Elektek's arm to the Raticate, not enough to really hurt, but more than enough to have it leaping to its feet with a furious shriek.
Wheeling round, expression one of pure fury, the wild Raticate crouched down and gnashed its teeth loudly enough that Elektek took a step back. Clearly it had woken up on the wrong side of the flower bed today, proven when it burst out of the bushes and landed neatly on all fours. Even with twigs and leaves stuck in its bristling fur, the Raticate made for one imposing critter, one angry at having its sleep disrupted. Hissing in warning, the rodent gathered its legs beneath it to attempt a pounce towards Joey.
Attention!
An angry Raticate (Level 37) is on the attack!Quickly choose a Pokémon to battle!

Taking a short hop backwards instinctively at the Raticate's obvious intention of going for him, Joey couldn't help but let out a disapproving cluck of his tongue. He had hoped they could wrap it up by finding the Elekid this early on but it seemed as if his luck wasn't going to pull through as easy as that. "Tch, guess what Jasmine said about this lil' bugger enjoyin' some hide an' seek ain't far off. Elektek, watch yerself!" Not really needing to advise his Pokemon the Electabuzz was lightning fast in his reaction, seemingly flying backwards with a leap of sparks trailing his position, the lengthy armed fighter raised them into a fighting position. He had ventured out of the lighthouse every so often and was well versed of the Pokemon in the nearby area. Although the Raticate was feisty, it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. Leering his eyes, the stern creature appeared to be formulating a plan. Focusing intently on the vermin still, he spoke over his shoulder, nattering in his own speech to Voltek who picked up on the Pokemon's plan. "We should combine our powers. With your overwhelming strength and my lightning ability, we would be an unbeatable duo."
Nodding his head, Voltek reciprocated the thought. He had usually tag teamed with Chugga from their days of harsh training when they were younger but the Electivire was welcome to a new fighting partner. "Let us work a practice session now." The two Electric types abundantly on the same wavelength, what would come next would be of some surprise to Joey. Thinking he would need to take command of the situation and get to grips with the newest addition to his rowdy mob, he opened his mouth, only to falter. "Best take out th-Huh?! Woah!" Watching as Elektek switched into a blinding burst of electricity, it was clear to observe he had harnessed electrical currents to limber up his feet. Analysing the situation, Joey went over the move in his head. "That move... It's nothin' like i've seen Voltek pull off. All his attacks are purely physical. This seems to be like he's utilising electrical energy plain an' simple. I wonder...! Is that a..." Looking over to Voltek, Joey cottoned on to what the two Pokemon of his had been plotting. Elektek would make a dent in the Raticate's defences and leave the Pokemon wide open for Voltek to finish off the job. It had some definite synergy and impressed even Joey. He was a big fan of team work but this was something he hadn't considered.
Ready to strike forwards, Voltek let out a warning cry to prepare his partner. "Elektek! The Raticate is a swift foe. Be on guard. Defend yourself and then make the switch. I will be ready." Aware of how swift Raticate could be on their toes, Joey looked over and hoped for the best. "Alright Elek, deliver the Volt Switch and Voltek, take his place. The moment you do, pummel him with a Cross Chop! Sucks we ruined ya naptime but there's no need to get so grouchy." Dismissed Joey with a gesture of his hand as he shook his head in the direction fo the Raticate.

Vs. Raticate - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Whiskers twitching irritably as the biker jumped out of the way, Raticate hesitantly put some distance between them, maintaining its fierce glare all the while. Both of his Pokémon were also a threat to consider, the rodent's eyes sliding between the three of them with a degree of wariness. Though it was angry at having been woken from its nap, it could sense it was facing dangerous opponents now that the worst of its blind rage had subsided, and thus afforded some caution. All of its fur rose in warning when Elektek suddenly erupted into electricity and had Raticate hissing furiously, the sound lost in the crackling coming from the Electric-type's body.
Fixing beady eyes on the amorphous form that was Elektek, Raticate narrowed them in a sharp, piercing glare so malicious it gave the Electabuzz pause. Shaking it off as a case of slight nerves, Elektek sped forwards and was bearing down on Raticate in mere seconds, clad entirely in thunder. Ramming into the rodent with a fleeting blow, Elektek retreated at lightning speed, body regaining solid form once more. The strange electricity seemed to act as a pull for Voltek, the bulky Electivire hustling forwards in his ally's place.
Raticate was still shaking its head furiously, like a dog trying to rid its ears of water. It had been momentarily stunned by the Volt Switch and made easy prey for Voltek, his arms coming down in a brutal double cross that sent it sprawling. Landing in a heap near the bushes it had leapt from, Raticate groaned as the last vestiges of its strength drained away. But this would be of no interest to Joey, as two people walking towards the lighthouse chattered to each other about some 'demonic yellow flash of a Pokémon' causing a ruckus in the center of Olivine.

Throughout the course of his time as a trainer, Joey had seen teamwork acting as a means to boost a Pokemon's strength to unrivalled levels. With Voltek and Elektek combining their skills together, it appeared that the very same could be said. Joey's rivals would have to take precaution if he decided to let these two power up and let their sparks fly. With a effortless style, Elektek zapped at the feisty rodent and with a hefty pummelling off a few hundred thousand volts, retreated backwards with a swift coursing of energy. As the Electabuzz returned to Joey, he raised his their respective Pokeball and managed to return them to safety. Bizarrely, Joey felt an odd pull which had undeniably taken effect over Voltek. Summoning him in place, the hulking thunder sasquatch made his entrance into the foray and assumed an offensive stance to engage with the battle. At this point, it meant the victory outcome was seized. "Looks like I got a new secret weapon with the way you two battle together. Looks like we'll hit twice as hard."
Letting out a acknowledging grunt, Voltek made use of the tumultuous turn of events to lash out with his contribution to the fight. Tensing up his powerful arms, he chopped in an cross shaped motion, dealing a fearsome blow. Hitting with such impact, the Raticare had no choice but to obey the law of physics and go flying back from when it came in the bushes. Cheering on, Joey fist pumped the air. "Woohyeah! That's what ya get for tryin' to take us on." Grinning, he nodded to Voltek and was about to congratulate him for his typically flawless efforts when there was a distracting flash off in the distance from them. Joey's cheery attitude becoming alert, he honed his eyes in and narrowed curiously. "Well, looks like we won't have to look too far for our next lead. A lightning spark like that can only mean one thing. C'mon, let's try and nip this one in the bud before any more chaos unfolds!" Returning all his Pokemon to make haste, Joey bolted off with athletic speed. Speeding through a number of side streets, it wasn't long before he got to the destination he had surmised from when the flash of electricity had struck earlier. Taking note of his surroundings, it seemed as if he had made it nearby to the Olivine cafe. Noticing a father and child acting all blustered, Joey hesitated before approaching. "Yo, err... What's happenin'? Lookin' kinda ticked off there? Drop yer ice cream or somethin'?" Having at least acknowledged their presence, Joey stood back and eyed up and down the promenade in a distracted manner. "Say, you guys ain't seen a tiny yellow lil' fella have ya?"
