If it had been an option the curved unown would have gladly allowed the excitable chick to take its place. It hovered barely above the ground wavering beside its contrasting partner. The 'I' shaped pokémon silently huffed, figuratively puffing out its chest as it stared down the formidable foe set before it. Its handlebar shape wriggled with a different kind of shake. Eye narrowed with a slight twitch about its lid. The question mark attempted to slip slightly behind its braver counterpart once Squirt had made a preparatory snap of his teeth, but the agitated psychic pokémon squeaked its assertive complaint at the motion. Should the Unown I's bite be nearly as sharp as its bark the battle may have inspired at least a smidgen more confidence in the sheepish wild pokémon. Heidrun skittered along the craggy floor like lightning, shimmying right to I's shadow in an instant before lunging up to latch her teeth onto the curvy black of her opponent. Unown I was unconscious before it even processed the battle had started, falling limp in the joltik's grip. The question mark whimpered. Unable to even voice a proper screaming squeak it froze in place. Squirt had an easy target as he followed in Heidrun's footsteps and nearly mimic the attack. A blinding white took over the remaining wild pokémon's vision as a searing pain cut through its being. It was eerie silent. The overpowering attacks too much for the little one to process appropriately. Perhaps for the best. It was a ghost of unknowing and fearful adrenaline that drove it to swing its hooked form to catch its fallen comrade and force the I-shaped pokémon back into the dark cracks of the hallway. Then, a haggard zombie itself, the ? toppled to the floor with just enough momentum to roll itself into the safety of a slit in the wall. VICTORY!

Despite the scary situation, Dorthea was most worried about her cousin's mood. It didn't feel like it was entirely related to fright, and she couldn't figure out what else was wrong. Maybe she would have to ask later, when she wasn't this distracted by everything else. She nodded along to Aglaia's assessment of the situation, trusting fully the older girl's knack for analysing stuff. "All the better if they want us out. Then we're on the same page." she said with a wink, desperately trying to find the positive side of it and get the mood lighter again. It was a good thing she had a battle to overlook, or the sight of Thanh once again flying overhead would have freaked her more than necessary. It was nice seeing Squirt in action again, and Heidrun was surprisingly efficient with her target. The way the spider latched onto the Unown, it was hard to imagine that the little thing had had no experience when they ventured out earlier today. ~~ Diarm looked from Freyr to the battle at his explanation, and then quite unknowing imitated his sigh and settled down to watch beside him. He couldn't carry himself with Freyr's solemn grace, but he stilled his restless body and nested on the ground beside him, his breathing going relaxed and calm. His head turned a fraction at the reassurance. "We'll have fun together," he corrected the fox, thinking it unfair not to include Freyr. He couldn't imagine it any other way either. ~~ When all was said and done the two Unowns vanished from view, and Dorthea made sure to praise her fighters for a job well done, recalling Squirt and turning to Aglaia, who was looking the other way. It didn't took long for Dorthea to understand why. "Oh, well. If the exit's that way, no wonder they keep interfering, when we are going another" she said, while picking up Heidrun again. She petted Diarm on the head, and thanked Freyr for looking out for him all this time. Then she got up and studied Aglaia for a moment. "I guess birds are good for something" she ended admitting, though she still felt rather strained having to listen to the flapping of wings. She took Aglaia in the arm, mostly to comfort herself, and only let her keep a small lead, as Aglaia's flyers showed the way. "Are you alright?" she asked quietly, as the entrance got truly visible, and the real light of day showed clearly along with a fresh breath of air. Wordcount: 422

Aglaia wasn't surprised that Dorthea agreed with her, she often did and they usually listened really well to each other, which was probably the reason she reacted to Dorhtea's lack of action and understanding at what she herself had been so scared about. She pushed it away, no relationship was without some bumps along the way and right now it was more important to find their way out. As Dorthea had said nothing had happened and she knew she had tendencies to worry too much. "Then let us not wait to change their mind," she said determined and hurried towards the light, away from the scary ruins.
Aglaia sighed and glanced backwards, "they were the one making us lose direction in the first place," she said dryly, but wouldn't be surprised if it had made them continue in frustration of them being there. She glanced at Dorthea when she mentioned the bird and remembered that Dorthea wasn't fond being around them. That had been the reason for why she should get a natu and get used to it.
"Yeah, now we're outside!" Aglaia said with a relieved laugh and then recalled Thanh to avoid upsetting Dorthea more than necessary. "Let's get back to the room, I have gotten more than enough excitement for one day!" It wasn't like she would refuse to return another time, it had been an interesting experience but next time she would make sure she was prepared. She would have a lot of reading to do so she knew what they could expect and how best to handle it.
~~ Freyr watched surprised as Diarm mimicked him, he hadn't realized just how much he was affecting the young torchic. It was good to know there was ways to get him to calm down, and that he was not prone to tantrums. The fennekin gulped when Diarm included him in the furture fun, his heart ached both from the loyalty his new friend showed him, and from what he expected would happen. "I'd love that," he answered quietly and managed to keep his voice from breaking. No promises made.
