It was truly a glorious day. The sun was out in full force, a slight breeze to offset the intensity of the heat and a salty scent was wafting in from the beach itself that adjoined to the route itself. Enjoying this weather was one such trainer, a picnicker by the name of Gina. As their trainer type implies, they're particularly fond of picnicking. With how gorgeous the weather was, it was prime time for Gina and her Pokemon to take advantage of the current circumstances. Having bought a hamper with her full of delicious foods for both herself and her Pokemon, she had unfurled a large picnicking rug to sit on. With the preparations complete, she tossed out all three of her Pokeballs revealing a Bulbasaur and two Hoppip. "Come on out everyone, let's have a picnic!" Receiving thunderous applause from her Pokemon, they all excited gathered around her.

Sitting down and opening up her hamper, she looked up as Catherine came within the area. Hearing the friendly greeting, she looked up and waved back. "Oh! Hello!" Smiling, she was pleased to see a sweet girl like Catherine and not some moody trainer. Not like that maroon coloured male with the silver eyes. He was so grumpy and thoroughly spoilt her picnic. Taking a sandwich which was neatly wrapped up in some cling film, she welcomed Catherine over. "Would you like to partake in a picnic with me?" Making some space next to her, she began digging through her hamper and grabbed some food for Catherine also. "Here, i've got plenty of food spare. Say, you look like a trainer! How about we have a friendly Pokemon battle whilst we enjoy our picnic?" Smiling, it was certainly different from most Pokemon battles where the two trainers were out to claim victory over the other. It'd be silly to pass up such a chilled bit of entertainment whilst enjoying the scenery and food. "I'm Gina! What's your name?" She enquired.

With Kiki at her side, Catherine began to approach the young girl, who had decided to take a seat close by to where they had been fishing. Leaving the Simisage behind so that he could continue waiting for a bite, she was just pleased to meet a friendly trainer. "Hey, hey! I hope I am not intruding!" Eyes glancing between the picnicker and her Pokemon, it was nice to see them looking so excited. Although they probably felt a bit irritated, what with Catherine appearing and delaying their meal time. The neatly packed sandwiches and other treats looked delicious and even Catherine could feel her mouth begin to water at the proposition of joining them. "R-Really?! That would be so sweet of you!" Always one to enjoy a good bit of food, the ears of Atlas twitched in the distance but he quickly went back to fishing at the next part of the conversation. He was all for free food but he didn't want to fight for it. "Ah! What a great idea! I'm actually training at the moment for a Gym battle so any help would be appreciated! How about it, Kiki?!" Looking across to her Bouffalant, the Pokemon was cautious over the idea of battling such tiny, fragile looking Pokemon but in the end agreed. Learning of the picnickers name, a large smile spread across her face, "My name is Catherine! It's a pleasure to meet you, Gina!"

With the introductions over, Catherine and her Pokemon hopped a few paces back, in order to make enough room for the upcoming Pokemon battle. Unlike wild Pokemon battles, this was bound to be more of a friendly test of strength, Catherine just hoped that no bad feelings would arise from either side. Noticing that Gina chose to send forward her Hoppip first, Catherine nodded her head in excitement, "A Hoppip! They are so dainty and sweet! Are you up for this, Kiki?" Snorting out of her nostrils, the large creature shifted forward, eyes locked onto her opponent. "Be careful, they may look harmless but I bet it has a few strong spore attacks! Try and fight your way through them, Kiki!" Cheering her Pokemon on, Catherine pumped a clenched fist forward as she ordered her choice of attack. "Go straight in with a Horn Attack, Kiki! Be sure to follow up with a second one, that Hoppip looks pretty tough and sturdy!" Bowing her head politely, the Bouffalant almost seemed to apologise in advance before getting her game face on and charging head first into battle.

Taking a small bite out of her sandwich, she made sure to chew properly and swallowed before returning conversation with her new acquaintance. "Of course not, it'd be wonderful to have company on this fine day. All my other friends were busy in the city so I was hoping I wouldn't be lonely. Isn't that right everyone?" Receiving nods from her Hoppip and Bulbasaur, it was definitely a welcome bit of company for the young picnicker. With the young nurse and her Pokemon taking up Gina on her off, the picnicker greeted her officially. "It's a pleasure to meet you Catherine. Here, there's some poffins I prepared back at home for our Pokemon to eat. I always prepare far too many so there's definitely enough spare." Pulling out some Tupperware that held a huge assortment of various poffin flavours, she began to dish them out on some cardboard plates and then placed them at the centre of the picnic mat for their Pokemon to dig in. "Yet another reason why I was looking for company. With so many my Pokemon would over eat and become obese!" Giggling, she looked to Catherine's Pokemon and seemed excited by all the unusual species she had. "You have some very different Pokemon. Are you from Johto?" Guessing she wasn't, it at least was enough to drop in conversation a means of finding out where Catherine hailed from.

Speaking some more about what Catherine was up to, Gina looked at her in awe. "Wow! You're looking to face Whitney? Woooooow!" Obviously impressed, Whitney was someone Gina looked up to with how strong she was. The picnicker could've gone on about how much of a role model she was and how incredible she was to become gym leader but she thought she'd save the gospel. "We'll be happy to do some training." She nodded. Watching Catherine as she instructed her Pokemon to engage, Gina did the same. "Hoppip, watch out for the horns and unleash a Bullet Seed! Like we always practice!" Smiling, Gina picked into her hamper and pulled out some sandwiches. "Hear, have some sandwiches. I've packed quite a variety but I thought i'd offer you my favourite. Cucumber sandwiches!" She beamed. Allowing Catherine some time to consider the offer, Gina looked to their Pokemon attacking. Charging forward, the Bouffalant's horns were hidden well by the volume of its afro. Thinking it had narrowly dodged, the Hoppip was then nicked by the side of Kiki's horns. Sending it backwards, the Pokemon recovered itself by spinning around in a counter motion to balance out the movements. Twirling around its leaves, it leaned forward and from the centre of its head shot out a barrage of bullet like seeds. One, two, three, four and five! It was a savage attack, like some sort of automatic gun going off. "Very well done Hoppy, I have some poffins here with your name on it! Now, Poison Powder!" As soon as she left her order, it seemed like the sun's rays began to intensify.

Before Kiki could even act, the Hoppip seemed to speed up amazingly. "Another reason why I like coming out on days like these. The beautiful sun powers up my Pokemon." Smiling proudly, they looked back to the battle and a number of poison filled spores were blown towards Kiki. Accidentally inhaling them, the buffalo let out a spluttering cough. She had been poisoned. "Don't worry, I have some medicine in my hamper to heal her should the poison get too aggressive." Said Gina in a reassuring manner. This whole thing was a friendly, she didn't wanrt to make any enemies. However, despite getting the additional poison in, Kiki charged forward and used her impressive horns to equalise the fight. Sending the Hoppip crashing down onto the ground, it appeared the Pokemon had no chance of getting back from that. Shuffling from side to side slightly as the poison coursed through her veins, Gina at least congratulated Catherine on her win. "Very good. You'll definitely give Whitney a solid challenge. Return Hoppy!" Putting her Pokemon safely away, she looked to the other Hoppip which was stuff its face. "Poppip, mind helping Catherine with some more training?" Gobbling down another poffin, the Pokemon floated over to the battlegrounds. Somehow. It was a miracle in itself it could still keep afloat after stuffing so many poffins down its mouth!

Taking a seat on the picnic blanket next to the young girl, Catherine flashed a wide grin as she claimed her spot. The Hoppip and Bouffalant facing one another just in front of them, this would certainly be the most relaxed battle she had taken part in, to date. "You even made your own Poffins?!" Catherine cried out excitedly, getting another intrigued twitch of the ear from the distant Simisage. Clapping her hands together, she was impressed with just how organised this girl was. "That is amazing Gina! They all look so delicious." Accepting her own plate, the aspiring nurse let out a giggle at her words. "That is so true! Perhaps we should've saved this battle for after ward, afterall." By that point, both Pokemon were ready to go but atleast there were plenty of snacks to have once the skirmish was over. Tilting her head curiously as Gina asked her a question, Catherine was more than happy to answer. "I am from a distant region called Unova! I'm travelling to learn all I can about Pokemon, so one day, I can be a nurse! I may still be a bit clumsy but one day, me and my team will be helping trainers all over!" Puffing up her chest, it was a dream that Catherine was proud of, as it was her way of following on in her adoptive mother's footsteps.

Accepting one of the sandwiches from Gina, Catherine couldn't quite hold in her excitement and hurriedly unravelled the cling film. Taking a bite, her face lit up in pure glee as she savoured the taste. Before she could continue on with her demolishing of food, the curious picnicker asked yet another question which Catherine wanted to elaborate on. "Uh huh! At first, I didn't really understand this whole collecting badges thing. But after the first few, I have found them to be really fun! Plus, if I collect them all, then I can always keep them with me. And one day, when I go back home, I can show them to my mother. I best she'll be so surprised." Turning away, she looked at how the battle was progressing. Her Bouffalant was putting up a fight but as she had expected, the Hoppip was made of sturdy stuff. Managing to get back up after a hit from Kiki, it was able to attack back and poison the Bouffalant, her frantic coughing of the spores invading her body pulling at Catherine's heart a little. Though Gina was supportive and with a shake of her head, Catherine felt a little better. "It's okay! I have some medicine, myself! You never know sorta Pokemon and attacks you'll come across in the wild, after all!"

It was then that the first round of the battle came to a close, with Kiki colliding into the light body of the Hoppip and knocking it out. Clapping her hands together lightly as Gina spoke, Catherine also remained positive and genuinely thankful for the battle. "You too, Gina! Your Hoppip was really tough!" Seeing another be sent out, Catherine was unsure of Kiki battling in her current condition and decided to return her back. "Okay Kiki, you have battled really hard! Return for now!" Drawn into her Pokeball to get a bit of rest, Catherine shuffled around to pick her second choice. "It's time for you to meet my nursing partner! Come on out, Yumina!" Throwing the Pokeball forward, an incredibly energetic Blissey bounced onto the scene. Her stubby arms waving frantically to greet those around her before her eyes sprang to life at the sight of the Poffins. "Heehee, I am sure you can have a treat or two after the battle, Yumina! For now, you should attack with an Ice Beam!" Twirling excitedly, Yumina faced the Hoppip with an almost scary grin. She was going to hurry this battle along for the chance to eat.

The second Hoppip gave a squeak as it took on board its trainer’s request to battle. Licking the last few poffin crumbs from its lips, it took something vaguely resembling a battle stance while steadying itself in the air as best as it could. As the sun’s rays really began to rain down on the Grass type’s leafy ‘wings’, it gently began to pick up speed in the breeze. “Yup, Poppip’s just as quick in the sun as Hoppy! Isn’t this summer weather just the best, Catherine?” Gina said excitedly, taking another quick bite of her sandwich as she finished this sentence. The sight of Yumina entering the battlefield brought out a squeal of delight from Catherine’s young opponent. “Oh my god, is that a Blissey?! And isn’t she just the cutest? Catherine, I’m really impressed that you’ve managed to evolve a Chansey already! Your Pokémon must really trust you, as well as being so very strong.” Gina looked at Catherine as she spoke these words, her face now alight with admiration for her opponent.

“Poppip, dear, be wary of that Ice Beam. Let’s slow Yumina down with a Stun Spore, just to be on the safe side.” Gina called out, sounding incredibly relaxed in the serene picnic environment that the pair had created for themselves. The little Hoppip nodded in acknowledgement of the order before turning over to Yumina with a half-serious look on its face. Before Yumina could really get started, Poppip flew over her at top speed spinning its leaf-wing-things at a high tempo. From the leaves came a fine, yellow powder which drizzled lightly across the battlefield. Yumina coughed and spluttered as a couple of spores got stuck up her nose before realising that her muscles were starting to lock up a little. The paralysis was taking hold really quickly, and Gina nodded in approval. “Well, I guess Whitney won’t be using these kinds of tricks on you in your match, but it’s frankly the best deterrent me and my Hoppip have against you, Catherine. I’m sorry I can’t give you a few Normal types to practice against.” She sighed at this realisation before watching for the Blissey’s countermeasure.

Yumina struggled to open her mouth and cried out as she began to focus her energy into an attack. Her gaping mouth started to release brilliant white energy for a split second and Poppip shrieked in fear. However, the attack only lasted a split second as all of a sudden Yumina found herself unable to move or generate power at all. She stood there, completely frigid as the paralysis did its job, the energy she had built up already dissipating into the air around her. Gina looked puzzled for a moment before catching on. “Wow, so I guess this battle’s still on for Poppip, huh? You said you had medicine, Catherine… but is it worth using here? I’m eager to see how a trainer like yourself thinks in a situation like this. After all, I can’t say I’m not here to learn some battling tricks myself.” She smiled over at the young nurse that currently opposed her, if only in the battle, and waited eagerly for a response.

Looking up to the warm skies, Catherine hadn't realised it yet but the nice weather was likely powering up the grass types that she was going up against. It was a good thing that they were sitting beneath the shade of a large tree, otherwise the trainers would be feeling the heat just as much as their Pokemon were. "It really is, Gina! This is the best sort of weather!" Equally as enthusiastic, Catherine took another bite out of her own sandwich, only to jump ever so slightly at her opponents reaction over her next choice in Pokemon. Though the aspiring nurse couldn't really blame her. Apart from Pokemon Centres, any from the Happiny evolution line weren't entirely common whilst in the wild. But Blissey were that bit rarer, in that a Chansey had to feel incredibly happy and trust its trainer before pushing itself to the point of evolving. Catherine had achieved that high level of love and trust but it hadn't been easy. "Heehee! Yumina is the cutest! I try to be the bestest friends with all of my Pokemon but me and Yumina have a special bond, for sure!" Hearing her name, the rotund creature waved happily to Catherine before turning to face the enemy Hoppip.

This particular match up didn't work out exactly in her favour, however. Once again using special spores, rather than poison, this time it was paralysis. Gina certainly knew how to use her Pokemon's attacks to her advantage. Drifting through the air and being breathed in by Yumina herself, the Blissey felt her entire body tense up, acting against her will. Unable to move at all, this turn ended up being a dud. Looking on with a contemplative look, after a few moments, the aspiring nurse turned back to Gina. "Your Hoppip are so amazing! Your spore attacks must really help you out in loads of battles!" Despite losing a turn, Catherine was still as cheerful as ever. After all, there were no hard feelings and this girl had been kind enough to share food with her. "Ah... But what should I do now?" Catherine had researched into a wide variety of things that affected Pokemon, both in and out of battle, so just because her Pokemon had been afflicted, did it mean she had to use an item? She had travelled a long way and had experienced close calls so whilst her Blissey looked to be in discomfort, she still held a firm belief that she could push through.

Nodding to herself, she called her order, "Yumina, use another Ice Beam!" Hoping that her Pokemon would be able to pull through, she turned her head to Gina. Sticking her tongue out playfully, she tapped her own head with a gentle pat of her knuckles. "We'll risk it for now! Sometimes you've gotta do that!"

Looking to the Blissey and then back to Catherine herself, Gina seemed to be scrutinising them both. Eventually turning her scrutiny into a cheery smile, she nodded her head. "Just from looking at the two of you... I can tell there are definitely bonds." Whether or not she was aware of how deep those bonds ran, to the point where they could combine into a fusion of chaos was uncertain but nevertheless, they must've had a bond for Catherine to have obtained a Blissey. "If you plan on using Yumina against Whitney, I would be awfully careful. I'm sure she would be green with envy and want one for herself." Giggling as she took another bite out of a sandwich, she chewed away neatly before listening to Catherine continue on their conversation. "I see you've thought over your next move. It's interesting to see you continue on attacking. My usual spores strategy tends to force people's hands into healing. I'm guessing this links back to the bond you have with Yumina. You're trusting her to pull through, yes?" Smiling, she was happy to be facing such a good trainer. It was more often than not it felt like trainers saw their Pokemon more as tools than companions. "I too share a bond with my Pokemon. And I trust my Poppip to keep on fighting. Use Tackle, dear!" Calling out to her Hoppip, the Pokemon let out a cutesy little cry as it span around the leaves upon its head. Rotating around like a helicopter, the Grass type sped on forwards. Picking up more and more momentum, it connected right into Yumina's body, tackling the Pokemon backwards.

Of course, it was rather pitiable. A Hoppip was far from the destroyer of worlds and it wasn't helped when coupled with the fact Blissey were generally a fortress when it came to how much stamina they contained. Yumina just wasn't any Blissey either. She was hyperactive mayhem incarnate. Waddling her little feet from side to side and puffing up her cheeks, the pink coloured animal was gearing itself up for retaliation. Fighting off the paralytic spores it had been covered from head to toe in, she closed her eyes shut as she fought off the unwillingness of her limbs to move. It was only when Catherine's command to attack wrung out that the Blissey was able to fight through the pain. Acting as a means of clarity for the Pokemon to pin all her motivation on, Yumina thrust an arm forward as she stared down the Hoppip. Wiggling the tip of her finger forward, the Pokemon seemed to be channelling magical powers as all of a sudden a concentration of freezing temperature shot forward in a beam like array. Hitting the target dead centre, the Hoppip didn't even have a chance to squeak out in terror as the ice frosted over it completely, causing it to fall to the ground with a heavy thunk.

"OH! That was a total surprise! The way your Yumina pulled through... That is a real bond right there." Having finished the sandwich she was eating, Gina began to clap her hands together in praise. "I can safely say i've learnt something today. The bonds of friendship can act as a way of overcoming trouble." Returning her Hoppip to the safety of its Pokeball, she looked to her Bulbasaur who was still greedily eating away at the poffin tray. "Saury! Now is not the time to be eating. Please go and uphold the battling for Catherine and I." Its cheeks filled to the brim still with poffins, the Pokemon waddled over in an obese manner to the battlefield and continued to chomp away at the goodies it held in its mouth. "There, my Bulbasaur is ready to fight. Like your Blissey, I have the strongest bond with this Pokemon. It was my starter after all." Laughing, she decided to ask Catherine her intentions. "Are you remaining in, or swapping for another?" Leaving the question open, she rummaged into the hamper and pulled out a platter of food. "Do eat some more, i've plenty left."

Taking the final bite out of her first sandwich, Catherine sat with a wide smile of glee upon hearing the words of Gina. Knowing that her travelling and time spent with her Pokemon was in fact paying off, when actually moving from town to town, it was almost difficult to realise just how much she had accomplished. All of her Pokemon were special to her, even the ones who weren't fond of her doting and fussing but she had been having fun every step of the way. Spluttering as the picnicker hinted that Whitney would perhaps be jealous of Yumina, or more so of Catherine being an owner of a Blissey, she hurriedly turned to the young girl and held up her arms in a cross formation. "Nuh-huh! Whitney wont be having my Yumina!" Laughing afterwards, she turned back to the battle. "Yumina was gifted to me when she was a teenie tiny Happiny... I can't let down the person who entrusted her to me. So, me and Yumina will always be together!"

Rubbing the top of her head, looking back, meeting the kind biker had been a fun encounter but being given a Happiny at the very end had topped everything off. "Yeah... One day, we'll make loads of pancakes!" It likely didn't make sense to Gina but to Catherine and Yumina, speciality pancake making was on their to-do list! For a few moments after, the atmosphere of the battle had caused both of the young girls to fall silent, mouths half open ready to eat but minds completely distracted. Gina's Hoppip was fast and its spores had managed to really twist Catherine's strategy. Yumina, who had been immensely slowed down due to paralysis, had a good amount of strength behind her but landing the attack was the issue here. Suspense rising as the Hoppip managed to tackle itself into the body of the Blissey, the large pink Pokemon finally managed to make a move of her own. Specially taught, she summoned the strength of an ice beam, which tore through the air and struck the floating grass type, knocking it out in a swift collision.

"Gina... This battle is really teaching me so much! All the spores are so incredible, it is really getting me thinking!" Eyes wide and full of energy, the aspiring nurse continued, "I can really see how you and your Pokemon work together. With this, I have some new ideas in mind for some of my other Pokemon, too." Nodding her head, it was time for the third round. Pausing, she was uncertain of Yumina continuing, due to her paralysis and with a lift of her Pokeball, Catherine called out. "Okay Yumina, return for now! I'll be sure to share some treats with you once the battle has finished!" Recalling her Pokemon, Catherine oddly sent out the same Pokemon before, Kiki the Bouffalant. Still poisoned and injured from earlier, the creature looked a bit unsteady but was able to continue. If her plan failed, then she could either switch again or use a healing item. "I want to go back to Kiki for this one. Use another Horn Attack!" Accepting Gina's offer graciously, Catherine tucked into another sandwich as her Pokemon begun the next battle.

Giggling gleefully, Gina was amused to see Catherine's reactions to Whitney wanting to claim Yumina for herself. "Hehehe, well, you best make sure you make it very clear if you face her with Yumina. She's got her prized Pokemon she won't ever get rid of but i'm sure the cuteness of your Blissey will make her incredibly green with envy." Biting into an apple which she had grabbed from the hamper, Gina thought over what Catherine had mentioned about the Pokemon being a gift. "Wow! That person must be very trusting to hand away a teeny Happiny like that. Very kind as well. It reminds me almost of how I got my Bulbasaur. It was my first Pokemon, gifted to me by a close relative." Finishing off another bite from her apple, she happily proclaimed her next words. "Gifted Pokemon are the best!" Although what Catherine said next made young Gina's mouth water. "Oh! Pancakes... I truly wish I could bring them with me on picnics but there is no way for me to cook them out here. I always tend to rely on pre-packed food or ready to eat."

Their final round now upon them, Gina was interested to see what Catherine would do as she searched the hamper and produced a small bag of crisps. "Ah, I see Kiki's returning. She seems very dependable. Very strong. I'm sure she'll be able to carry on despite her injuries. Regardless, you're here if any nursing is required." Gina joked, having picked up on her nurse like aesthetics in Catherine's attire. "Okay Bulba, I want you to perform a Take Down." Looking back to Catherine, Gina smiled sweetly. "He may be small but my Bulba can hit with the best of them... Oh? Oh my goodness! Your Kiki!" Spluttering into a giggle, she covered her mouth as she watched the Bouffalant. Seemingly from when the bison had been pelted with the bullet seeds from Gina's Hoppip, it seemed there were a number of them around her face and hair. Picking up on these as she re-entered the battle, the Pokemon seemed to lick them up with a surprisingly long reach of her tongue. Lapping them up and chewing away on the seeds, it seems like Kiki had enjoyed her own picnics of sorts. Looking full of energy from the consumption of the seeds, she stood proud with renewed energy and boisterous offences. The battle concluded and Gina out of usable Pokemon, it also seemed to be around the same time she had finished her lunch. Putting her rubbish into a bag she had bought with her, she laughed as she realised she had a plan of what she would do after this luncheon. "I think I may go and pester my mother for some pancakes. I can happily tell her that I was able to finish of all the food that was packed and also made a friend!" The mention of pancakes earlier had clearly enticed her and it also seemed she had enjoyed her time with Catherine. It seems like she had made an acquaintance. "It was an absolute pleasure enjoying lunch with you Catherine. Thank you for the company and battle." Beginning to pack up all of her items, she made a last double check of her inventory before picking up her hamper and parting ways. "I hope to see you around Goldenrod, Catherine! Best of luck with Whitney! Oh and here. Treat yourself to some pancakes too. There's a delicious eatery on the nice side of Goldenrod Tunnel which serves these. Bye bye!"

OOC: So I gun goofed something fierce and missed out Kiki having Sap Sipper... Which means the Bullet Seed from earlier in the battle should have done zilch and raised Kiki's attack. So i've written away a little explanation above to excuse my idiocy. Sorry about missing it out first time around. Her health was restored to full minus poison damage and received the attack boost here.

Catherine was taking a gamble in sending out Kiki once again. The Bouffalant had been injured by the speedy Hoppip and poison was still affecting her entire body, as soon as the bull came back out and into the bright light, it was made obvious. A purple like tint to her complexion, the Pokemon was still managing to stand but for how much longer was the key question. "You're right." Catherine chipped in at Gina's words, "Kiki is a tough cookie, I know she will be able to pull through! Your Bulba looks strong as well, so if I need to, I can always heal her right up!" The battle drawing into its final stages, there was a peppy looking Bulbasaur against Catherine's own injured Bouffalant, yet Kiki didn't look deterred in the slightest. Dragging her hooves back across the grass, she was ready to charge when something caught her attention, a delectable yet subtle scent, in fact. Noticing that her Pokemon had frozen, she turned to look at Gina who had started to giggle. Puzzled, what Kiki was doing was slightly out of her line of sight, so with a tiny adjustment, Catherine leaned over to see what was going on, her lips pouting into a bout of giggles herself.

Lapping up a bunch of seeds which had been stuck to her fur from the previous battle, the large creature regained a bit of energy from the leftover grass attack. "Heehee! Ooh Kiki!" Her long tongue tickling the two girls amusement, she quickly thundered past the laughter and with a but of her head, struck her opponent down with a mighty swing of her horns. The poor Bulbasaur fainting on the spot, with a large sigh of relief, it seemed that Catherine had managed to somehow win this close battle! "Ooh, hold on a moment Gina!" Catherine added as the two spoke to one another their congratulations. "That battle was incredibly fun, thank you for teaching me so much!" Reaching out to shake the girls hand, the two girls smiled cheerfully to one another. Helping Gina pack up and receiving a few left over treats to take with her, Catherine pondered for a moment to herself. "We'll walk back to Goldenrod with you!" Giggling, the girl withdrew her Bouffalant, "I think I'll give my Pokemon a well deserved rest for the day. So, if you have time, why dont we go to this pancake place together?" Inviting the young girl to explore Goldenrod with her, Catherine called over her shoulder for her Simisage to follow and together, the group left for the city.

"Ahh! Those pancakes yesterday were so nice! Dont you all think so?!"

Finding her way back on Route 34, Catherine had gone back to the Pokemon Centre to rest after a fun packed day. Both herself and her Pokemon resting after all the battles that they had taken part in, the team was now awake once more, bright and early, for a fresh start to their next day of training. By her side was her usual partner, Atlas the Simisage and together, they went back toward the ocean's edge where he had been fishing previously. "Whew. We made it back! With everything that happened yesterday, you didn't get to do anymore fishing... But those pancakes were really good, right?!" Grinning from ear to ear down at the grass monkey, he nodded his head as he begun setting up the Old Rod. Turning on her heel, Catherine lifted her hand into the air, "But it's no fun to enjoy a nice day alone! Come on OUT!" With a toss of multiple Pokeballs, she brought out a few Pokemon. A Bouffalant, Sylveon and Pancham emerging with a flash, they each looked around as the sun touched their fur.

"Are you all ready for another day of training?!" Catherine questioned eagerly, only receiving a pumped response from the small Pancham. Leaning forward, she scooped him up with her hands, "You are as precious as ever, Josuke!" As Catherine smothered the Pancham with affection, both Juris and Kiki exchanged glances, the Bouffalant closing her eyes gleefully. Lifting her head, she watched as Atlas tossed in the fishing line. Ready to dish out some Revenge on whatever he hooked, Kiki was determined to protect her little family.

Shellder sat quietly on by the rockpool it had a nice life, it got free food from Goldenrodder's throwing in food to the feed the fish. Which it would happily snatch up mind you! But this little shellfish longed for adventure, wanted something more from its life then feeding off the bottom of the barrel. Hearing a trainer it jumped up and smirked this was its chance!

Shellder fired Icicle Spears into Catherine and Kiki were hit by the icey spikes. Kiki didn't seem to impressed by the Shelder hitting her and her trainer. She was going to get her revenge, she charged right at the poor Shellder. Kiki did a good job! Maybe too good of a job, as her attack was a critical. The sellder went flying into the distance fainted. Whoops!

Sitting herself down on the grass, Catherine placed Josuke the Pancham down on her lap, the two of them giggling away to each other. With her trainer distracted, Kiki took it upon herself to protect the group, her eyes lingering on the back of the Simisage who had tossed the line into the water. Feeling a heavy stare on him, the grass monkey shuddered but resumed his peaceful moment of fishing. Holding tightly onto the old rod, Atlas concentrated for the slightest tug of movement, even if it was hard considering all the noise going on behind him. "Heehee! You are sooo cute!" Close by, it seemed that Josuke the Pancham was performing a number of random poses, each of which sent the ever simple Catherine into a fit of hysterics. Perching himself close by, the Sylveon pinned his ears back, as if to try and block out to constant giggles. Glancing over to Kiki, Juris hoped that a battle or something would start soon and sure enough, his wish was answered.

"Ooh! Atlas has something!" Catherine cheered at the sight of the Simisage jumping to his feet and wrestling with the rod. "Give it some welly, Atlas!" Clapping her hands as she cheered for him, Josuke sat back with an amused smirked, whilst Juris slowly edged away from Kiki. The Bouffalant had a particular glint to her eye when she was about to attack and the Sylveon didn't want to be caught up in any hard hitting attacks. With a mighty pull, a Pokemon came bursting up from the waves, a shell clad sea dweller known as Shellder. Recognising it as it landed in the grass, Catherine started to speak but was quickly cut off. "Ooh! It's a--" Before she was even close to finishing her deduction, the wild Shellder attacked in a frenzy. Aiming a number of icicle spears, Kiki reacted at exactly the right time, using her own body as a shield to protect those close to her.

"W-Woah! That is one angry Shellder!" Catherine exclaimed behind the safety of the large Bouffalant. As soon as the Shellder was out of steam, Kiki snorted from her nostrils and attacked on her own accord. Dealing out some revenge after such a blow, the Shellder went flying through the air, landing back into the sea with a mighty splash. Shrugging his shoulders, Atlas quickly threw the line back into the water, whilst Catherine lent forward and placed a loving hand on Kiki's side. "Thank you, Kiki, you protected us!" Affectionately rubbing her snout, the Bouffalant closed her eyes and nuzzled into the palm of Catherine's hand before pulling away. There was no doubt that more Pokemon would be on the way and when that time came, she would be in hot Pursuit of them.

It wasn't long until another Shellder showed up, and it had seen the previous one go flying. However it sensed some anger from the Bouffalant nearby still lurking and wondered if it was the pokemon that made the previous Shellder fly. However it was too late for that Kiki spotted the Shellder and snorted before charging at the Shellder. The Shellder couldn't move in time and was hit by the attack with pissed it off a bit. Not only had it seen a Shellder go flying in defeat but it had been attacked by a pokemon when it hadn't done anything. With this said the Shellder quickly began to shoot Sharp icicles at Kiki who didn't expect this after the one hit KO from before. This attack hit 3 times before Kiki was sent out of range. Kiki stood there  managing to shake to shake the damage off for now. Kiki now just stood there waiting for her trainer to say the next attack.

Quickly hooking himself another Pokemon with his fishing rod, the Simisage felt another tug of the pole and with a tug, pulled the next Pokemon up with ease. Almost voluntarily coming up to the water's surface after seeing another of it's species go flying through the air, a second Shellder emerged from the watery depths. Hopping on dry land, Kiki the Bouffalant snorted out from her nostrils, parting from Catherine's side and stepping up to face the sea dwelling Pokemon. "Ah! Another Shellder!" Catherine exclaimed the obvious, "Try not to home run this one, eh, Kiki?" Teasing the bull by sticking out her tongue playfully, Kiki's ears simply twitched in response, her body unable to turn away from an opponent. "But this one isn't as scary. So go easy on it, okay?" Patting the head of her Pancham as she spoke, the little bear looked horrified at the feeling of his fur being messed up by her hands, though she was oblivious to what she was doing. "We'll be here to support you!" She then cheered, raising her hand happily into the air as the panicking Josuke hurriedly used his paws to quiff his fur back to how it was.

With a stomp of her hooves, the Bouffalant reared herself before dashing straight for the grounded Shellder. Pursuing the clam in whatever way it tried to dodge, she was quick to land a successful blow, although it was no where near as successful as she had managed to hit the previous one. Remaining on dry land, the Shellder seemed to have expected a similar situation than what had happened previously, with it's body being flung through the air and landing back in the ocean. This time, Catherine had told her Pokemon to ease up on the strength and this meant that the Shellder could attack back. But it wasn't going to hold back. Firing off a couple more icicle spears, the sharp shards of ice struck against the body of the Bouffalant, who winced from the cold twinge of pain. Stepping back, she waited for Catherine's input but the young girl wasn't jumping straight in to order her next attack. Instead, she was shuffling around in her back for something, a special kind of Pokeball. "Heehee, this Shellder is a tough one. I think we should try to capture it!" Smiling the the idea, her eyes were set on another Pokemon to join her ever growing family.

"But be ready, Kiki!" Catherine warned the Bouffalant, as she pulled her arm back which held onto a Ultra Ball. "If the Shellder pops out, be sure to use another Pursuit attack, okay?!" Steadying her aim, the girl threw the ball at the water type, whilst Kiki stood to one side, eyes burning a sharp glare as she watched the ball wobble from side to side.


OOC: This is fine, it looks like you have done everything correctly, so don't worry~ For your mod apprentice pack, I would count this as a Damage Calculation despite it technically being a spawn. Also, don't forget to note the fishing rod level up, I'll update it myself in a moment though~

And I'm not sure if the weather has been fixed or not but it should be sunny, I believe.

[Given the situation (sunny thunderstorms and Blaze’s confusion about it), I’m not sure whether to use the incorrect weather from before or not. Since that it doesn’t matter terribly, I’m gonna make an executive decision and use the corrected “Rainy” weather here as opposed to the earlier inexplicable sun.]

For a Pokémon so far beneath Kiki’s own experience level, it seemed that the Shellder was quite a strong one. Or at least, that was Catherine’s first remark after seeing the Water type’s fightback. The previously irate bivalve suddenly felt a burst of pride come over it. Clearly the human wasn’t all bad; she could at least recognise power when she saw it. The Shellder still wasn’t satisfied that it had got quite enough revenge on the rampaging Bouffalant yet, but at least it was now being admired. That was always a good start. The Water type was able to completely ignore the thunderstorm in the background, which might otherwise have unsettled it, thanks to this morsel of praise offered to it. It set about plotting its next move just as Catherine pulled out her Ultra Ball, unaware that it might not have a next move at all.

For Catherine, the choice was easy. The Shellder had shown a fair amount of fight, and it was a rare species in this area. The swarm had been noted, and many trainers were flocking to Route 34 to catch one of their own before there were none left. None of the trainers were entirely confident of how long this swarm might last, so the earlier the better. After all, one wouldn’t want to get there just to find that the waters had been fished clean of Shellder. That thought may have been in the back of this young nurse’s mind, then, as she launched the valuable black and yellow ball at what she hoped would be her newest friend. The moderately expensive orb cracked open as it hit the Shellder, absorbing it in a heartbeat and snapping shut immediately after. Dropping to the surface of the waters, the ball began to twitch violently as the Shellder did its best to escape and show off more of its skills. It wriggled back and forth in the rain, managing three distinct “wiggles” before eventually quieting down. A light “ding” signalled the capture.
