As Bianca walked towards the gym a small Pokemon lie in wait still deciding if it wanted to battle her or not. Having seen a decent number of trainers going in and out of the gym it was not sure if it would be strong enough to win a battle with any of them. As the small Pokemon slithered towards the gym still reluctant on making it's presence known until it was sure this was what it wanted the sight of another trainer running out of the gym with tears in their eyes having presumably lost a battle to the gym leader inspired the small Pokemon to take a chance and challenge Bianca to a battle before she could enter the gym.

The slithering sound the Pokemon made grew louder as it approached her at a rather fast pace considering the fact that Shellos lacked legs or any other appendages of acceptable length that could be sued for movement. Making a break for the entrance to prevent Bianca from entering the gym the water type stood ready for a battle. As small as it was Shellos was also very brave to stand in front of such a busy building. Facing a real possibility of getting crushed by another trainer who could come running out of the building at any moment Shellos held it's head high and looked into Bianca's eyes hoping she would accept it's challenge.

Bianca looked at the pokemon with wide eyes. Her pokemon jumped forward to exclaim their opinions. Ketchup thought that Bianca had no time for this, Adair thought that one more battle couldn't hurt and Berlioz did nothing. Bianca looked at the electric pokemon, then at the wild one. Her gaze shifted back and forth between the two before getting her pokedex out and scanning the Shellos. Bianca's mouth shifted into a smirk. A pure water type, the experience could help our team, she thought. "I suppose we could spare a few minutes," she told her team. The trainer faced the wild Shellos and called forth her pokemon. "Berlioz, use Thunder Shock!"

Considering that the Shellos was so eager to battle, it would've been a shame to simply leave it there in disappointment. Thinking that the experience would do both her and her Pokemon good, especially since they were just about to enter the Violet City Gym, Bianca agreed to battle the wild Pokemon. It's slug like body wriggling with glee, the Shellos moved into position, ignoring the fact that a small amount of people had stopped their business to watch out of curiosity. It was strange enough that the Shellos had completely left the route in order to follow the female trainer directly into the heart of Violet City. Obviously it had seen something special within her, otherwise it would've stayed hidden in the wild, where it was safe.

Stepping forward upon his trainer's order, Berlioz the Pikachu was the choice Bianca had made. Although at a disadvantage, this didn't bother the Shellos one bit as it stared ahead, eagerly waiting to begin. Electricity charging in the sacks of his cheeks, the yellow rodent was quick to unleash a wave of thunder which shocked the very body of the water type Pokemon. Quivering on the spot, the Shellos felt it's head unwillingly flop forward but it wasn't taken down quite yet! Showing that it had good defences, the Shellos picked itself back up and spun it's body to the side.

Digging up a wave of mud from the ground, the Shellos sent it flying toward Berlioz, striking the Pikachu square in the face. As mud blurred his vision, the Pikachu rubbed his eyes with irritation, practically feeling the annoying smirk which had since been plastered across the Shellos' face.

Bianca smiled, this Berlioz's attacks were affective and the Shellos had nothing on it! Bianca still recoiled slightly at the thought of Berlioz getting damaged in battle, but if she didn't train, she would never achieve her dream! "Ok Berlioz," she prepared her pokemon, "Use Thunder Shock again!" Berlioz dashed towards the wild pokemon, electricity charging in his cheeks, with a loud cry, Berlioz released the electricity upon the opposing pokemon, knocking it back a metre or two. Bianca smiled at Berlioz's power, but apart of her felt sad that she had hurt this poor creature and that there was a chance it might not get up for a while.

As Bianca gave a repeat of her previous order, Berlioz readied himself and so did the Shellos. The little flickers of electricity erupting from the Pikachu's cheeks were enough to tell the water type that the same attack was coming. Not fast enough to dodge out of the way and too weak to survive the attack head on, the little slug simply had to realise that this wasn't a battle it would be winning. Instead, the positive creature feigned a smile and tensed up it's body. Atleast it had managed to survive one Thunder Shock and in return, get a little stronger in itself.

Propping himself up on his front paws, Berlioz let loose a flashy Thunder Shock which spiralled through the air and quickly came into contact with the Shellos, setting it alight with a bright flash. Feeling the current charge through it's body, the Shellos shook a little, remaining perfectly still on the spot as Berlioz finished his attack. Coughing up a small sigh of relief, the dazed Shellos wriggled slowly to the floor where it had fainted on the spot. The battle was over, giving Bianca the chance to either capture it or move straight on. The battle had been witnessed by several people, so there was no doubt that someone would take the small slug to the Pokemon Centre if she didn't want it.

Bianca kneeled down and opened her arms wide as Berlioz came running towards her. Closing her arms around her pokemon once it got close enough, she stood up while spinning. Bianca would always show how ecstatic she was after battles. Slowly putting her pokemon down, she looked proudly at her team and fondly remembered the battles they've gone through. Bianca looked around, the fog had cleared up a while ago so she could see more of the city before her. "Well," she smiled at her pokemon,"I think now is the time we face our first gym battle!" Her pokemon cheered for her enthusiasm and follower her as she walked towards the gym.
