After finally getting out of the forest, Ethan inhaled and exhaled deeply to express his relief. Thankfully, he did not get lost in the forest! He actually found an exit! How great was that! Though, he still have a short walk toward the big and wonderful Goldenrod City! He may or may not have been waiting for this the entire time. First thing that he would need to do was to put his stuff down in the Pokemon Center room, and then relax a bit because that Ilex Forest was surely a lot of walking!
Thanking his Pokemon friend for their help, he returned his Baltoy and Cottonee finally, and casually stretched for a good few minutes before walking toward Goldenrod City. He was basically standing on the exit of the forest to stretch, thankfully no one was really going in or going out. After that was done, he began humming and strolled down Route 34. He can't believe it! He have big plans for Goldenrod City, but for now he'll lay low and hangout on this forest-exit route first.

Reaching the end of Ilex Forest was a success in itself but rather than heading straight into Goldenrod City, trainers had one final challenge left before them. Progressing through Route 34. The city was literally up ahead but before that, was large patches of tall grass and numerous trainers hungry for Pokemon battles, in order to test their skills. It wouldn't be too much longer before both Ethan and his team could put their feet up after a job well done but he had to find the Pokemon Centre first. If he was quick enough, perhaps he could avoid most encounters. Stretching to keep his body circulation going strong, he had one final stretch of land to cross before rest and relaxation awaited him.
Since being trapped in Ilex Forest, it was difficult to tell what was happening in the world outside of the thick trees. But the weather was merely overcast, a few clouds here and there with a slightly cold wind, nothing which would disrupt a journey. As he began to stroll his way towards the city, it wouldn't be odd for him to feel that a pair of eyes were watching him, or had been since he left the forest. Whilst no human life had passed by him, there were certainly many Pokemon who had been alerted to his presence. One being a lone bird, who was circling around him overhead. The avian was a big shot, a true thorn in every trainer's side. Any new soul it saw, no matter their condition, it would swoop in for an attack. That it just the way it did things.
Following Ethan from the sky for a moment or two longer, the brown bird known as Pidgeotto waited for the right chance to swoop, just as he stepped on the dirt path which was a straight walk to Goldenrod City itself. Approaching him from behind, the bird swooped past his head, it's talons very nearly touching the top of his head. But what the bird had wanted to do, was surprise him with the strong gust of wind which it had whipped up with a powerful flap of it's wings. Not landing on the ground, the Pidgeotto remained in the air in front of Ethan, a challenging glint being apparent in it's eye.
A wild Pidgeotto (Level 19) appeared! Please select a Pokemon to use in battle or flee!

OOC: lead with shedinja but then switch to Azumarill and use Aqua Tail IC: Not long after exiting the Ilex forest and his healthy dose of stretching, Ethan was met by a giant shadow above his head, and it was a Pidgeotto! He covered his head with his hands immediately, thinking it would scratch his skull, but thankfully that did not happen! Phew! Then, appearing right in front of him, the giant fabulous bird stirred up a wind that made him stop to balance himself. Thankfully, he wasn't light as a paper and blown away. After the stir was over, his Shedinja appeared in the air... Perhaps the wind had knocked a Pokeball into summoning a Pokemon! Also the bug Pokemon was too quiet and noiseless for him to even notice that...
Well, this was an odd situation because he knew well that bug type Pokemon could not fare well against a flying type Pokemon. He quickly apologized to Cover for sending IT out, and then swapped out for his Azumarill, Wavy. Telling his Azumarill to use Aqua Tail, the young trainer wasted no time in battling this Pidgeotto who had nearly scraped his skin. Not counting the time Ethan used to switch Pokemon, it was basically no time wasted.

The battle hungry Pidgeotto had flapped it's wings hard enough for a Pokeball to loosen itself from Ethan's belt and realise the rather soulless looking Shedinja. As it floated in the air silently, the human appeared to be very quick in withdrawing it and sending out something else. The Pidgeotto didn't care, however. All it wanted was a good scrap and with the continuous winning streak trailing off in it's mind, the avian knew this was going to be an easy victory. Smirking to itself, it wouldn't be long now until it was fully evolved. Or atleast, that is what it was aiming for. Flapping it's large wings to keep some height difference between itself and whatever Pokemon Ethan decided to actually summon, what he sent forward was something very big and blue. Excellent, a bigger target meant easier hits.
Completely underestimating Wavy, the speedy avian went straight in for the attack. Whipping up a dust cloud of sand and dirt, the Pidgeotto firstly wanted to blind it's opponent. It was a dirty tactic but one that always worked. As soon as the Azumarill had been blinded by the sand particles, then victory might as well be handed to the Pidgeotto on a silver plate. As the sand attack hit Wavy in the face, her eyes couldn't help but squint as they began to water slightly. Hands instinctively moving upward to comfort her now sore vision, the Pidgeotto smirked yet again and moved into the second phase. Now all it had to do was whittle down the Azumarill's health and the Pidgeotto felt that it wasn't too bad in the damage department, either.
Whipping up yet another whirlwind, this one consisted of spirals of wind which were able to cut like blades. Sending it straight for Wavy, the brown avian pondered on if she would survive... But hadn't bargained for the attack doing next to nothing. The bulky Azumarill shrugged off the Gust with ease and despite her vision being a little blurry, was still able to make out the outline of her opponent. Squeaking, she span on the spot and extended her watery tail, striking the surprised bird right in the face and forcing it to land on the ground with a mighty crash. Looks like Wavy was able to take this high and mighty avian down a couple of pegs.
Pidgeotto: | Level 19 | Health: 0% ( 0/58 HP) Status: Normal Pidgeotto used Sand Attack! Pidgeotto used Gust!
VS
Wavy: | Level 24 | Health: 90% (80/89 HP) Status: -1 Acc Cover was switched with Wavy! Wavy used Aqua Tail!
Congratulations! The wild Pidgeotto was defeated!Wavy gained 1 level and grew to Level 25! Wavy can learn Play Rough! Forget a move? Cover gained 317 exp! +1 Happiness Weecot gained 1 level due to holding Exp Share and grew to Level 22! Weecot can learn Poison Powder! Forget a move?
OOC: Actually, I double checked the Exp Share guide and by looks of it, even though Cover is the only one in the second level system, the experience gained is still split between the three Pokemon. So whilst the full exp gained is 950, it would then be divided by 3 leaving Cover with 317 experience.

OOC: LOL, it's alright about the exp. I'm boxing Ninjask and Shedinja and taking out Charmeleon and Meowth not learning poison powder learning Play rough over Splash self updating
also adding this to Ratz's personality: Strong, independent and always up for a battle. He likes to chew cords and hard wood.
IC: Although the Pidgeotto was quite bold to battle Ethan and nearly scratched his head with those talons, his Azumarill was able to smack the violent avian in one hit, knocking the villain off its airtime. The giant water bunny withstood the Gust like it was nothing, unlike Ethan's reaction earlier. Her watery tail had proven again her immense power, from the battle earlier with Bugsy, and then now again with the Pidgeotto. In one single hit, the Pidgeotto was gone, and flew away. Interestingly, even though the Sand Attack was common move among the Pidgey evolution line, it made him reminiscent about the battle with Falkner too. He wondered if there would be a gym in Goldenrod City, and who would it be. Once he got to Goldenrod City and rest up, he would have to investigate. Thanking his Pokemon, the young trainer returned his Azumarill and casually resumed his walk toward the big city, wondering what would he see next.

Leaving the area where he had battled the rather angry Pidgeotto, Ethan was free to continue his progress towards Goldenrod City. The next area did indeed hold a Gym and the Gym Leader was well known in the city as not only a good battler but also an idol of sorts, an adolescent by the name of Whitney. Pretty and fashionable, she was often the face of popular magazines in the Johto region but her thick and sturdy Pokemon were no joke either. For those preparing to face her in battle, a good strategy and lots of preparation was highly recommended. Otherwise, her Pokemon would be rolling her opponents flat for underestimating both Whitney and her Pokemon. But challenging Whitney wasn't the only bonus to the big city. There was also a huge department store, radio tower and underground shops, which may have been on the seedy side but the option was still there.
Though the city was still a way away so until then, Ethan had to progress through the tall grass, risking himself to not only wild Pokemon but also lurking trainers. As his feet crunched against the grass beneath him, his foot soon landed on something which shouldn't have been stepped on. A violent hiss booming out from the side of him, a large black serpent suddenly raised it's head from the grass. With a sharp tug, the snake pulled the tip of it's tail out from beneath the foot of Ethan and raised it up to get a better look. A scuff mark apparent on it's fine scales, the snake hissed at the human and with deep, crimson eyes, stare him down. It looked as if Ethan wasn't going to be able to get away from this one easily and would have to fight to defend himself, if he valued his life.

After the battle with the giant Pidgeotto, Ethan was a few steps closer toward the vibrant Goldenrod City, and also a few steps away from the Ilex Forest. After walking on the grass for a while, he felt that he had stepped on something. When the Seviper raised its head up, he gasped an apology, but that seemed to be not enough, and he would have to battle out this serpent to calm its anger.
"I am really sorry, Seviper! How about we battle this out to resolve your anger?" He reacted a little frantically, hoping to not agitate the Seviper anymore. Then, tossing a Pokeball, he sent a Pokemon onto the field and giving his Pokemon a command, "Come on out, Felime! Please use Fake Out on the Seviper!" He took a few steps back to distance himself and the Seviper a bit. Then, the Meowth showed up and looked at the giant snake, and prepared for a Fake Out attack.

Even as Ethan apologised, the giant snake was likely not going to be the type to simply accept the apology and slither away. Not only had it been rudely interrupted but now the tip of it's tail, it's most delicate and prized body area, was thumping in pain after being stepped on. Ethan was going to pay and the Seviper was going to see this battle through. Hissing it's long, thin tongue out between it's closed mouth before flashing it's fangs and wide open jaw with a venomous hiss, the wild Pokemon was going to have to be defeated or captured in order for the aspiring DJ to make it out alive. The wild creature was more than big enough to swallow him whole so for Ethan's sake, he had to come up with a good strategy or use some effective moves to win. Deciding to go with his Meowth, Ethan tossed his choice of Pokeball forward and the feline emerged with a flash.
Looking up at the giant snake, the Meowth felt a few hairs stand up across it's back out of nerves. Seviper were intimidating but if Felime were to use speed to overcome the wild beast, then the battle didn't seem as bad. A naturally timid Pokemon, Felime grew up in the streets of Cherrygrove and knew how to handle bullies. So if she just saw the Seviper as a bully, she could overcome this rather huge hurdle. Working with Ethan's order, the agile Meowth sped towards the Seviper on all fours paws. Jumping up toward the wild snake, she lifted both of her paws and with outstretched claws, threw them downward, landing a rather painful looking cross shape set of scratches upon the face of the Seviper. Wincing in pain, the Seviper coiled backwards and hissed vehemently, needing to take a moment to recover from the attack.

OOC: thank you for remembering Technician The Seviper was as tough as it looked, with a long slithering body covering in reptilian scales, the giant snake was no joke about battling Ethan for stepping on its tail, and he could sense that from all that hissing going on the snake was aiming at him or Felime. Using his Meowth's first strike attack, the feline Pokemon was able to make the opponent flinched from hitting her this round. However, what's next would be the start of the actual battle. "You did great, Felime! Now go for a Scratch attack!" Ethan cheered his Pokemon, seeing how the normal type Pokemon was able to overcome the vicious size and intimidating hiss of the Seviper. Now if he could weaken this giant snake some more, he would be able to turn the tide of the battle to his side. Felime meowed at Ethan's command, readied herself to scratch the snakey once more.

Whilst the Seviper was recovering from the sneaky Fake Out attack from Felime, Ethan was able to try and think up some way to keep this battle progressing in his favour. The Meowth was small and the jaws of the giant snake might end up being enough to knock the poor normal type out. But before anything remotely close to that could happen, Ethan simply needed to keep up with the attacks. He had already earned himself the first strike and basically a damage free turn, surely the Seviper didn't have any moves that could make that much of a dramatic come back? It couldn't be made certain until the battle progressed and as the Seviper lowered it's head with glaring eyes, it seemed that it was truly about to start now.
Preparing herself for this battle to start, Felime noticed that the snake had began to unravel it's giant, coiled body. Threatening itself to appear more intimidating, it certainly worked and spooked the young cat but she wasn't going to be lunch today. Lunging it's jaw forward to attempt a physical attack, the Meowth made an agile leap out of the way, causing the motion of the Seviper to end up with it smashing it's own face into the ground. Using this very brief moment to her advantage, the feline slashed her claws against the scaled body of the Seviper, causing it to hiss vehemently and coil away from the pain. As it lifted it's head back up, the poisonous creature faced Felime and let loose and ear piercing screech, which shot shivers down the cat's spine.

As the next round unfolded, Ethan was faced with a defensive response that the Seviper had pulled, a Screech attack. Knowing full well that it was a sound based attack that lowers the opponent's physical defense, he had a feeling that the Seviper was as much of a close match as he was. This battle was a bit tougher than he thought, especially if he had wanted to capture it. Or, he could have forgo that idea and went on finish with this Pokemon, which that might have been a likely option for him to do now. Perhaps, he might have other options like gamble with luck.
"Felime, use Bite and try to bite near the tail but not the end of the tail!" He hollered. This might have been a risky gamble, because stepping on the Seviper's tail was what set off this battle in the first place, however, if that was what set it off, then perhaps this meant that the tail was the Seviper's more sensitive area that was also exposed to be hit with, and this might make the Seviper think twice before attacking, just maybe.

Felime had undeniably gained the upper hand in this battle however the Screech did lower her confidence a bit as she could not protect herself from physical attacks as well as she had been able to previously. She could still outpace her foe by a considerable amount but the way Seviper was staring her down she knew the snake was up to something. Relying on her Bite attack to try and get the snake to flinch so it would not be able to make a move she ran towards the snake and once she had gotten around to it's rear she took a big bite out of the snake's tail. Seviper hissed at her as it shook it's tail violently trying to shake the cat off. As soon as Felime let go of it's tail the snake decided it was time to unleash it's surprise attack to teach her a lesson. The cat had no idea that Seviper could use it's poison from both it's fangs and tail but she was soon going to find out as the snake's tail began to glow in a purple hue. Before long the snake began to jab at her with it's poison covered tail trying to inject it's poison into her body to render her helpless. As the tail punctured her chest she cried at the top of her lungs as the poison entered her body. Somehow by some miracle she kept enough of the poison out of her to avoid becoming poisoned however the poison that did enter her body caused a massive amount of pain. Barely able to stand as the poison type finally gave up on it's assault Felime was not feeling very strong at all. The attack had taken almost everything out of her and even the weakest strike would be enough to knock her out. If Ethan still planned on capturing the snake it was now or never as Felime was not going to last much longer. Pokemon Battle

This battle had been a challenge for Ethan, for a wild Pokemon to put up such a fight. It was almost like a gym battle except he wouldn't get prizes for winning or capturing the Pokemon. If there were a poison type gym in Johto, he was certainly sure that Seviper would be one of the Pokemon. The poison tail attack was strong, swinging hard at the feline's chest like a baseball bat hitting a ball. Ethan could see how his Pokemon had taken massive damage, as well as how both Pokemon were on their last life before this battle would be over. Both Pokemon were panting hard and looking tired from the battle. As much as he had wanted to capture this Pokemon, it was risky for him to do right now.
"Hang in there, Felime! Finish the Seviper with Scratch!" Ethan cheered, encouraging the feline Pokemon to finish the battle. Well, in the cat's thought, even if Ethan would wanted her to retreat, she wouldn't do it either. Nah, her claws need to finish scratching this snake skin at least once. She had a battle to finish. Panting, and glaring at the Seviper with determination, she dashed forward to finish this battle. It would be either her or the serpent.

The Seviper hissed angrily, lashing it's tail back and forth. If only it were faster, perhaps it could take this morsel out quickly without any retaliation? As it contemplated the upcoming round it watched Felime with narrowed eyes. The feline was down and out, practically hanging on by a claw. Seviper had pulled a quick one over her head with the Screech, as not many Pokemon expect the potency following up. Poison Tail was what Seviper were known for, and yet, Felime probably hadn't expected that. It didn't matter though, as the last round of this battle was at hand. Seviper dashed forward, body snaking in the grass towards the Meowth. Exhausted and tired, Felime unsheathed her claws and closed her eyes. When they opened, they were narrow slits focused intently on the black snake worming it's way towards her. Mouth outstretched to swallow her pride and defeat her in battle, Seviper lunged towards Felime. The feline, however, jumped up and spun, jumping over the Seviper and pinning it down to the ground. A quick scratch took the rest of the remaining strength from the Seviper, leaving the unconscious creature in the dust and grass. The battle had been won, and Felime was victorious, albeit barely.
Felime fought valiantly and gained +2 levels and +1 happiness! Weecot observed and gained +1 level!

Even though battling the Seviper was a bit difficult on its own, Ethan and his Meowth managed to defeat the opponent, by hanging on a thread. The poison Pokemon was defeated, because Felime had the speed needed to finish the opponent. He thanked his tired Felime and returned the normal Pokemon back into her comfort sphere. With another opponent gone, he continued making his way toward Goldenrod City. The tall skylines seemed to be larger each step that he walked, and the city air seemed to smell closer as he approached. While he still have some ways to go, he wondered what would he encounter next. He was definitely taking the opportunity to train his Pokemon, but he was pretty casual about it now. Since when he does arrive to Pokemon Center, he would be resting his legs from all that walking in Ilex Forest, and try to put his new found inspiration to good use. He wondered, what he would encounter next. He let out his Cottonee outside the Pokeball, to let the grass type enjoy some sun.
