"Thank you for accepting my challenge, Megan! Yay, Nidoran, we have a trainer battle! Alright, start off with a Scratch!" Liz smiled, with enthusiasm echoing from her voice. After she had given an order, the two Pokemon began dishing out their attacks. Hopping along and taking a momentarily flight, the Pidgey hopped close toward the Nidoran before leaping up high. High enough for him to be flying, the Pidgey flapped his wings powerfully, pushing a stream of air that blew dusts off the ground. The Nidoran struggled to clawed still on the ground, however, the gust was enough to send the small poison type off the ground. Then when she fell back down, she took some gravity damage. Afterwards, the Nidoran seemingly copied the Pidgey's move. Using close proximity, the poison type jumped and clawed the Pidgey, her claws enough to clung to a few feathers and ripped them off from the Pidgey. "That was good! I can tell this will be a fun learning experience!" Liz grinned, pulling out a notepad to take note. Though she wasn't sure what note she was writing anyways.

Megan was happy to see the excitement on the young girls face, "Thank you for accepting my challenge, Megan! Yay, Nidoran, we have a trainer battle! Alright, start off with a Scratch!" Megan was hoping that this would be an easy battle and she would be on her way.
Perdu took a moment on the ground and noticed his disadvantage before taking to the sky rapidly. He hovered for a moment before creating a huge gust of wind that buffeted all on the ground, "That's my boy," Megan mumbled trying not to get dirt in her mouth. The gust picked up the Nidoran and she fell backwards as gravity did its thing. The Nidoran however copied Perdu before he had taken off for the start of her attack and jumped after getting close and pulled at his chest feathers. Perdu squawked as feathers were pulled out as the Nidoran fell the short distance to the ground.
Perdu came back to Megan and landed on her shoulder still pissed about losing some of his precious chest feathers. Liz pulled out a pad of paper, "That was good! I can tell this will be a fun learning experience!" Megan chuckled.
"Perdu, why don't get try a Sand Attack this time," change it up, do some offense, Megan needed practice on offense. Clearly this wasn't going to be some easy battle and she would be on her way like she thought.

With a notepad and pen in hand, the young girl known as Liz waited eagerly to write down some notes and had already begun to do so. Knowing about her Pokemon's ability, Rivalry, she noticed that her Nidoran was acting a little more meek when faced with something of the opposite gender. Thinning her eyes, the poisonous Pokemon stared across at the Pidgey, who cared very little about the gender of his opponent. "Heehee, your Pidgey sure is tough! Tell me! What made you choose a Pidgey?! There are so many other flying types like Hoothoot, Taillow and Wingull! What do you like the most about Pidgey?!" Asking questions as if she were interviewing Megan, the girl stared with anticipation, her excited eyes glittering as she awaited a response. Chances were that Pidgey was one of the first Pokemon Megan had ever met and there was no real reason other than wanting to collect as many Pokemon as she could whilst on a journey. But just on the off chance, Liz couldn't help but question and more curiosities were likely to follow.
Perdu, on Megan's command, fluttered in the air and with a mad flap of his wings, stirred up another wave of dust and sand. Although it wasn't physically damaging like the previous gust, it still had both the Nidoran and Liz clenching their eyes protectively. "Wow! What an impressive Sand Attack!" Her voice calling out over the gushes of wind, Perdu eventually let up and landed back on the ground. Rubbing her eyes, Liz looked over the battle, noticing that her Nidoran had taken the attack much more directly. "Are you alright, Nidoran? How about a nice and simple Tail Whip!" With a hesitant nod, the Nidoran squinted through her blurred vision and shook her behind in Perdu's direction. Looking away awkwardly, it wasn't something that impressed the avian.

It seemed as though this battle was going to be twenty questions, "Heehee, your Pidgey sure is tough! Tell me! What made you choose a Pidgey?! There are so many other flying types like Hoothoot, Taillow and Wingull! What do you like the most about Pidgey?!" Megan had to think on this one just a little bit.
"Yeah, Perdu, my Pidgey was my first encounter with Corla, my Squirtle, and has become on of my closest companions on my trip. Even if he does get on my nerves quite often." She said with a chuckle.
The battle continued, Perdu's Sand-Attack seemed to bother the Nidoran's eyes which Megan hoped would give her an advantage. Perdu didn't seem to interested in Nidoran's Tail Whip attack but it did look like his defense had been lowered.
"How about we go for another Sand-Attack Perdu." Megan knew that these defensive attacks might help her in the long run of the battle.

Liz was a very curious girl, yet as she stood with her notepad and pen after questioning Megan, she was somewhat surprised to actually get a response. Pleasantly surprised atleast and as her opponent spoke, the girl began to scribble down some notes in her book. "So your Pidgey was your very first Pokemon encounter... I see..." Trailing off as she wrote, she pinned the pen down to the sheet of paper before looking up with a wide grin. "How exciting! It must be so nice to go around travelling. Capturing Pokemon and becoming friends sounds like such fun!" Considering she had a Pokemon of her own already, Liz herself was a trainer in some sense. "Me and Nidoran have been together for some time now. But I am still too young to go on a full adventure, so just exploring Route 32 is good enough for us! Right, Nidoran?" Although her Pokemon was focused on the battle, the small poison Pokemon snorted in agreement. "Heehee, my Pokemon can be cheeky in her own way too sometimes, so I understand what you mean!"
Scratching her claws against the earth beneath her, the Nidoran wasn't too fond of Liz being so blunt whilst masking it in a sweet and innocent tone. Knowing her trainer didn't mean it exactly how she had said it, for now, it just wanted to continue the battle and then be as cheeky as it wanted later on. "Hmm... Go in with a Scratch attack, Nidoran!" But before the creature could react, Perdu began whipping up another gush of sand. Striking the eyes of the smaller Pokemon, the Nidoran winced as even more sand clouded it's vision. Attempting to attack regardless, the Nidoran tried to pin point the body of the Pidgey, aiming for a brown blur but completely missing the target. It seemed that Perdu was free from any damage this round. "Oh my! That is such a good tactic! I will need to write this down!" Excitedly noting down the effects of multiple sand attacks, the Nidoran hissed under her breath, just waiting for the next chance she could to strike at the Pidgey.

Liz seemed pleasantly surprised for Megan's answer, "So your Pidgey was your very first Pokemon encounter… I see…" she trailed off. Megan just nodded her head and smiled towards the younger girl, as she furiously wrote with a wide grin. "How exciting! It must be so nice to go around travelling. Capturing Pokemon and becoming friends sounds like such fun!" Megan chuckled, "It is a lot of fun, but a lot of responsibility too since I have my Pokemon, my partners to take care of. They aren’t just here to battle for me, they are my friends and if I am tired they are tired, so a day to just rest and have a break is always needed for the whole team!"
"Me and Nidoran have been together for some time now. But I am still to young to go on a full adventure, so just exploring Route 32 is good enough for us! Right, Nidoran?" Liz seemed to love her Nidoran very much, and the Nidoran snorted to the question it's trainer made even though it was engrossed in the battle. "Well maybe one day we will see you out there becoming a well known Pokemon trainer one day!!" Megan said with a wink in here eye to the younger trainer.
Perdu's claws dug into Megan's shoulders before he took off again and whipped up another Sand-Attack. It got more into the other Pokemons eyes irritating it. It seemed as with the sand whipping around Nidoran attempted another Scratch attack but missed. "Oh my! That is such a good tactic! I will need to write this down!" Liz scratched furiously at her pad of paper, the Nidoran though not happy. Perdu found his perch again on Megan and cooed happily while Megan scratched his chest, "Why don’t we get down in the nitty gritty and use a Tackle attack this time," Megan said to Perdu as the battle continued.

Eyes sparkling as Megan spoke out to the young girl, Liz seemed to nod her head frantically in agreement to most, if not all, of the insightful trainer's words. "Yes! Pokemon are certainly our friends! I love my Nidoran!" Smiling sweetly down to her partner, the little poison type glanced across her shoulder briefly before going back to staring at Perdu. "Pokemon make our lives so much fun and battle for us, in moments like this! Is that why you wanted to be a Pokemon trainer? To capture loads of different Pokemon, battle with them and even evolve them into completely new Pokemon?!" Her tone growing higher in volume as she shared her excitement at the thought of evolution, the young picnicker clicked her fingers together. "Nidoran will one day evolve into Nidorina and then by using a Moon Stone, I can evolve her into a Nidoqueen! I would know! I have done lots of homework on it!" Grinning, she held her hand forward, flashing a peace sign. "That is our goal, right, Nidoran?!"
Pumping a fist into the air, the girl continued, so quick that it was almost as if she never stopped for breath. "And that is why we battle other trainers! We are almost on the line of evolution, I am sure of it! Then maybe we can show all those adults how grown up we have become and go on a journey of our own!" Sticking out her tongue childishly, the girl pointed forward, "So go in for another Scratch!" Gaining more and more energy as the battle progressed, the Nidoran herself seemed to feed off of some of this excitement as she sprang forward. Still plagued by the sand attacks from earlier, the Nidoran aimed for something that she thought was Perdu but once again, her claws didn't meet their target. Just in time, the Pidgey had hopped backward before spreading his wings and leaping forward, landing his own Tackle attack to show her just how it was done. "Puhh... That Sand Attack is really clever... I guess that is what the Gym Leader, Falkner, does too! One day, I really wanna meet him! How about you?! Have you met Falkner?!"

The young girl, Liz, seemed to hang onto Megan's every words, especially when it came to things pokemon and friendships, "Yes! Pokemon are certainly our friends! I love my Nidoran!" It made Megan hopeful for all those that knew that Pokemon were their friends and not just some thing to do your bidding. Liz and Nidoran seemed to get along so well too, like they really understood each other. "Pokemon make our lives so much fun and battle for us, in moments like this! Is that why you wanted to be a Pokemon trainer? To capture loads of different Pokemon, battle with them and even evolve them into completely new Pokemon?!"
Megan smiled an nodded, "My father had been a Pokemon trainer in the Hoenn region, so I took up his dream of traveling to the Johtto region. But when I was younger I was playing outside and I wandered into forest where I was attacked by a Starly, whom to this day believe was protecting it's nest, and a Treecko came and protected me from the bird as I ran back to my home. I owe a lot to that time too because I also saw that Pokemon had a lot of heart too." The memory was now a fond one that she looked back on quite often.
The young girl was very excited in the evolution process, and she should with a Nidoran by her side. Liz also seemed to want to break out on her own and do things by herself, which at a girl her age was not uncommon. What was common was for the parents to hold her at home for as long as they could because they were afraid of the dangers of being by themselves.
And so the battle continued, Perdu's Sand-Attack had hurt the Nidoran's eyes and so the attack had missed. Perdu had gotten in a nice tackle attack and while Megan watched the battle she decided what the next attack would be. "Falkner is smart in using evasive tactics yes, I have not faced him yet, but I hope to in the near future" When Perdu came back and landed on her shoulder Megan gave him the next attack. "Another tackle while we're at it."

The young Picnicker’s eyes continued to widen ever further as Megan told her tale, nodding as vigorously as ever in response to every single syllable that came from the woman’s mouth. Once she’d finished, Liz squealed softly in delight. “Wow, that’s such a sweet little story. The Treecko sounds so adorable. I can see why you’d wanna train your own Pokémon after something like that. But, to be honest, why wouldn’t anyone want to be a trainer anyway?” She beamed brightly now, clearly happy to be talking to someone like-minded. “You’re so lucky to be able to journey with your Pokémon right now, Megan. I can’t wait to start an adventure and make even more friends like you and Nidoran.” The Poison typed runt squeaked happily in response to its trainer’s words. “I wonder how many Pokémon you’ve already met on your travels... and how many there are out there to meet at all. It’s all so exciting! What’s the best part of a Pokémon journey to you then, Megan?” On finishing her question, she seemed to finally remember she was actually in a battle. “Oh, right, er, give Perdu a Double Kick please, Nidoran!” The small purple critter nodded and rushed into the fray once more as its trainer crossed her fingers. But it was Perdu to strike first once again, diving down from the air to tackle Nidoran firmly as ever. The little Poison Pin Pokémon wasn’t going to let the chance slip though, and it took advantage of the close range to strike back. Pivoting on its front feet, Nidoran drove both of its rear legs into the avian foe’s chest, knocking the wind out of him a little and rather making up for the missed Scratch earlier. Perdu backed off hurriedly and tended to his now-ruffled breast feathers before nursing a tender spot on his body. The Pidgey still wasn’t going to win this easily, and the half-blinded Nidoran was making a good account of itself now. Battle

Megan could see the young girl fascinated by her story of becoming a trainer, "Wow, that’s such a sweet little story. The Treecko sounds so adorable. I can see why you’d wanna train your own Pokémon after something like that. But, to be honest, why wouldn’t anyone want to be a trainer anyway?” Megan smiled, "Not everyone's story is a happy one." she mused remembering the way that Silver treated his pokemon on their last encounter. “You’re so lucky to be able to journey with your Pokémon right now, Megan. I can’t wait to start an adventure and make even more friends like you and Nidoran.” Megan's smiled at the young girls energy and enthusiasm "Your adventure started as soon as you received Nidoran! And I am honored to be considered a friend!"
Little Liz just was full of questions, but Megan did not mind at all “I wonder how many Pokémon you’ve already met on your travels... and how many there are out there to meet at all. It’s all so exciting! What’s the best part of a Pokémon journey to you then, Megan?” Glad to let the battle take a rest as it has seemed too for a moment at least "I have only met a handful of the pokemon, I really do hope to meet and catch them all though! The best part for me is adventuring with my friends and making so many new ones on the way!"
Liz seemed to remember after all the talking that they were in fact battling, asking Nidoran for a double kick. After Perdu landed a nice tackle attack the small female poison pokemon was able to land an attack on the avian. Landing the kick right in his breast feathers and knocking the avian down, though he quickly hopped up ruffled his feathers and returned to Megan's shoulder an annoyed coo coming from his throat.
Megan could tell that Nidoran's attack had done quite the damage on her Pidgey. She moved her bag off her shoulders and reached in to grab a Potion. She pulled it out and had her avian move to her forearm and gave him the potion. This seemed to up his spirits and Megan smiled letting Perdu go for a moment.
She watched the battle commence "Alright, we should go for another Tackle!"

Holding a hand to her chest, the youngster wore a wide smile and beamed like a little ray of sunshine. "Of course I consider you a friend!" She cheered, "We may have only just met but you have taught me and Nidoran so much and shared your story with us. One day, when we leave out on a proper journey, I hope we meet again... Ooh! Or if you ever come back to Violet City! I am certain we can bumped into each other once again." Growing somewhat attached to Megan, Liz seemed like a very genuine girl. Megan's words had boosted her excitement and motivation to learn even more about the world of Pokemon around her and that was an essential emotion for beginning trainers. Liz's Nidoran may have thought otherwise with a snort of her nose and turn of her head but deep down, the small Pokemon had a kind heart. Dragging her front claw across the ground, she could feel that the battle was nearing the end, atleast until Megan intervened.
Wide eyed, Liz watched with glee as Perdu obediently swirled through the air and landed on his trainers arm in order to receive a potion. Healing up all of his wounds, Liz didn't have such an item to use on her own Pokemon but she didn't entirely mind. "D'aww. The two of you make such a good team!" Pumping a fist into the air, she turned to her Nidoran. "We just have to push even harder! Nidoran, use Tail Whip again!" Wriggling her behind, the small Pokemon lowered the defense of the avian but Perdu was not playing around. Hearing his next order, the Pidgey dive bombed the Nidoran and with his boost of health, felt even more energetic than before. Landing a critical hit against the body of the Nidoran, the stern hit sent the Pokemon rolling off, causing Liz to gasp gently. For a moment, the girl was quiet, scooping the Nidoran up into her arms and holding onto her tightly before withdrawing it back into it's Pokeball.
"Wow.. That was such a learning experience!" Although disappointed that the battle was over, Liz skipped forward, handing Megan a small amount of victory money. "..It really was a pleasure meeting you!" She suddenly called out after a brief moment of silence. "Me and Nidoran will grow stronger so I hope you will, too! Then we can have a rematch one day." Flashing a grin, the girl turned on her heel, "Goodbye! I'm going to head back to the Pokemon Centre!.. Good luck on your journey!" Waving farewell, the young girl sprinted off, leaving Megan to continue on with her journey.

A friend! Megan had made a friend while in her travels in Violet City! Liz beamed with excitement "Of course I consider you a friend! We may have only just met but you have taught me and Nidoran so much and shared your story with us. One day, when we leave out on a proper journey, I hope we meet again... Ooh! Or if you ever come back to Violet City! I am certain we can bumped into each other once again." A smile continued to play on Megan's face through this battle, it was refreshing to see someone so young look up to her. She had no siblings of her own and if she could help even one person out in her life, then her life was lived well! "Of course we'll have to meet again when you get out on your own journey! And if I am ever back in Violet City I will make sure I look you up!" A giggle escaped Megan as it seemed like the young Picnicker's Nidoran did not feel the same way about their cheerful encounter.
While Megan healed Perdu Liz watched on, ""D'aww. The two of you make such a good team!" The older girl looked back over to the younger pair again, "You and Nidoran make an excellent team as well! I know that you two will be a fierce match as you age and gain more experience!" The older girl praised. The battle carried on with Liz asking for a Tail Whip, "Ah a defensive technique to lower our defense! See you are already learning!" Megan grinned. Today though was not Liz's day for a win as Perdu had climbed in the sky and dive bombed the young Nidoran landing a hard hit and causing the young pokemon to faint. Perdu seemed satisfied and landed back on Megan's shoulder before the female trainer grabbed his respectable pokeball and let him rest.
You could tell that the young girl was bummed that the battle was over but excited with all the new information she had learned, she skipped over to Megan and gave her a small amount of prize money as expected from trainer battles. As she was leaving Liz had called back out to Megan, "..It really was a pleasure meeting you! Me and Nidoran will grow stronger so I hope you will, too! Then we can have a rematch one day. Goodbye! I'm going to head back to the Pokemon Centre!.. Good luck on your journey!" Megan nodded "I look forward to our rematch! You an Nidoran take care! Goodbye!" Megan called back as the young girl headed off to the Pokemon Center!
The redheaded trainer was deciding on where to head next on her journey and decided to continue wandering the streets. Falkner could wait.

The hype from the battles had died down as the cold swept in. A chill ushered in the need to get inside and get warm. It was very much Autumn now, as a light wind kicked up a rather lovely mixture of leaves to show off the yellow to red spectrum of color. It was almost below freezing out currently, driving many of the Pokemon into the warm safety of their nests and dens. And yet, at the end of a lane, a lone Pidgey was making a game of using Gust to counteract the blasts of wind, making a dancing display of chromatic foliage. As Megan began to draw closer, the bird hopped up, bouncing once, before turning to face her. It gave a little flap of its wings at the same time as another gust of wind came through, giving the Pidgey the illusion of being far stronger than it actually was. The haughty bird settled back down, peering at the trainer, as though expecting a battle. A wild Pidgey wants to battle! Please send out a Pokemon or Flee.

As the battles had tuned down, people were bustling away as a chill of the day swept in over the town. Megan shivered a little bit needing to find a place to change into a little bit warmer clothes she noted. While Megan hustled through the streets she heard a little commotion and saw a Pidgey playing in a leaf pile, a smile came across her face and then a laugh when the Pidgey saw her and tried to make itself look bigger. Megan decided to keep going and only stop if absolutely necessary. She briefly ducked into a pokecenter with a washroom and changed into a little warmer set of clothes. A full pair of pants, a camel colored coat, her favorite light blue scarf and fingerless gloves to match. Finally pulling on a pair of shoes and discarding her clothes into her bag she found a bench and sat on it for a moment taking stock of what she had in her bag in case she needed to grab anything before heading out or going to challenge Falkner. She was scared to go and challenge her first gym master.

Going back to Pokemon Center and changing her clothes to something warmer and more fitting for the weather, she returned yet again to the route as Megan thought about challenging the gym leader Falkner. Perhaps it could be his reputation, or his skill at mastery of flying type Pokemon, or his melodramatic blue hair that covers one of his eyes, whatever it was, something about this gym leader that made Megan scared to battle him. However, it would be inevitable to avoid battling him as a gym battle would happen sooner or later. Now focusing outside of Megan's mind, even though the weather had turned chilly, it didn't stop this little Budew from sitting in the middle of the human path to soak up some delicious sunlight. Completely opposite of Megan's current worry of the gym, the Budew's only concern was how long would the sunlight would be around before some clouds cover it. It was having such a good time soaking up sunlight that it closed its eyes and relaxed. It didn't even notice Megan was around. It peeked open one eye to see Megan, but it closed its eyes and pretend it didn't see her unless the human instigated a fight.
A (Level 10) Budew appeared!
