Joey sat fishing by the lake for some time, as the hail bounced off the leaves above. Him and his new trusty friend Typhon, sat watching the fishing rod waiting it to bob up and down. The befits to hail made fish Pokemon more likely to bite, but it's also harder to tell what's a big hail hitting your lure and making it go under. But soon enough a big ol' tug pulled on Zoey's road. It take much of hard pull to make the silver and blue fish fly into the air.
Encounter
A territorial Barboach (Level 28) has appeared!
Typhon watched at the helpless fish flew out the water attached to the rod. Waiting for the perfect time he jumped to meet the falling fish in mid air. He claws glowed that sweet magic white colour before slicing into Barboach dealing a massive blow that sent it back into the ocean! Sushi anyone?
Your Typhon fought well in battle sending that poor Barboach flying! Typhon gained 1400 exp Making Typhon 1876/5167 exp! Also gaining +1 Happiness!

Patiently idling away as the line itself was affected by the falling hail, Joey used his spare hand to rest onto his cheek. "Annnnnnnnnnny moment now..." He said, trying to break the silence. Typhon however didn't seem the least bit bothered by the wait. Living his life in the confines of the cave and now exiled out, it was a good chance for him to look around and take in the sights and sounds of the outside world. One thing was certain and that was the outside world was much, much bigger than the caves of Mt. Mortar. Although it was saddened by its exile, there was a whispering thought in the young Gible's mind which reasoned this was maybe for the better. "Y'know, I really oughta invest in a better rod. And by invest, I mean steal. Heh, can just imagine some careless muppet leaving a prized Super Rod out in the open. Ripe for the takin'. Not like they'll miss it. More money than sense those types." Nattering away as he cobbled together iffy justifications on why it'd be okay to twist his moral code in getting off guilty free, a sudden tug on the road had him lurch into action. "WOAH MOMMA! We got a challenger! Typhon! Get ready!"
Having let his Pokemon know, Joey stood up and began to wrestle with the pull of the caught Pokemon. "C'mon you lil' blighter. UP YOU GO!" Finally mustering enough strength, the creature was ripped up out of the river's depths and lifted up into view. Showing itself off to be a Barboach, Joey grinned at the catch. He'd grin even harder after Typhon sprung action. "TYPHON DO THIS! TYPHON SHOW POKE-MAN!" Launching himself upwards with a surprising prejudice, the land shark fledgling tapped into its draconic affinity and landed a savage raking of its claws against the Pokemon. So devastating was the blow that it went flying back into the river, leaving no doubt as to who the victor of the fight was. Impressed, Joey shoved the rod under his arm and began to clap. "Hell yeah! You sure showed them who's boss! Nice one Typhon! You're STRONG!" Landing back down on the river embankment, Typhon looked up at Joey with an awe struck face before bouncing up and down at the praise. "TYPHON STRONG! TYPHON STRONG! TYPHON RETURN AND SHOW CLAN!" His applause subsiding, Joey raised an inquisitive eyebrow as he watched the little one toddle off in the direction of the caves.
Surmising what the Gible was thinking, Joey let out a loud whistle and recalled him back. "Woah, woah, woah Typhon. Come on back. We still got a bit more training to do before we can show off." Sitting back down and adjusting the old rod for another round of fishing, he couldn't help but think to himself about the situation. "...A lot more training if we're to stand a chance. The fact I got my arse handed to me by a Gible, a runt baby Gible at that, when there's g'damn Garchomp roamin' about those caves, we're a waaaaaaaaays off." Finally having prepared the rod, he cast it out and awaited another bite. "You're doing good though. Just keep it up mate." Nodding thoroughly, Typhon moved back over and sat by Joey. "'Nother Dragon Claw when we land whatever's gonna bite, okay?" "TYPHON CLAW!"

The reminder of the clan Typhon had mentioned earlier, who seemed to live in Mt. Mortar, was enough to send a shiver down the spine of any trainer. The notion that there existed a Garchomp clan whose members each were much stronger than Typhon was terrifying to say the least, especially since they were so close by. But Joey had to put that to the back of his mind for the time being; there wasn’t much chance of a Garchomp suddenly bursting out of the cave and attacking him, after all. Taking a small amount of solace in that knowledge, Joey pulled out his battered Old Rod once again and cast it out into the ocean. As he did so, the hailstorm from earlier started to pick up again, a couple of icy shards dropping onto his skull. Autumn seemed to be late this year, for some reason, and the hail was a grim reminder of that fact. At least it was still hot though. Though that was probably not a good thing with the humidity rising, as it just made the weather even less bearable. The Old Rod creaked softly every time a hailstone struck it, which only made it easier for Joey to wish that he’d purloined a better fishing rod already. Each use of this rod made it harder to believe that the poor thing had survived as long as it had. The bobber at the end of the line danced in the dangerous weather, hunting for a wild fish Pokémon. It seemed a little unlikely that anything would surface until this weather died down, though. But just as Joey might have considered giving up on a catch, something yanked on the rod. This strength seemed familiar, as if Joey had done this before. As he reeled in his catch, the déjà vu grew stronger still. A very recognisable orange form flew out of the waters. The second Seaking flapped in the air for a couple of seconds before returning to the blue body below, keeping its eyes above water. Typhon swam back into the ocean, ready to engage the opponent. A wild Seaking (Level 26) was hooked! Joey's fishing level increased by 1!Upon reaching touching distance of the Seaking, Typhon slashed it mercilessly with his open claw, leaving a significant red mark along the Water type’s gorgeous orange scales. Seaking flinched at the pain, submerging itself just to hide from the Dragon while it recovered a little. Typhon splashed about in the meantime, trying to stay afloat just as before. In a few seconds, Seaking resurfaced, disrupting Typhon’s floating and causing him to inhale a little seawater. The small land shark coughed and spluttered, displeased with this development. Seaking didn’t care at all, and fired a Water Pulse straight at him. Even its moves were the same. This truly was a familiar encounter. This time, however, Typhon seemed to be at much more of an advantage. Seaking’s condition was quite the uncomfortable sight for any fish lovers, while Typhon was raring to go once more in a matter of moments. Wild Battle
Seaking | Level 26 Health: 19% (16/85 HP) Status: Normal Seaking used Water Pulse! VS Joey’s Typhon | Level 41 Health: 77% (85/111 HP) Status: Normal Typhon used Dragon Claw!
Hail is a thing, pelting both sides. [My RNG is stuck on Uncommon, it seems.]

Cursing the failure in the hail not letting up, Joey persevered with the fishing and it wasn't long before he was rewarded his tenacity. Feeling the pull on the decrepit rod, he began to counter it with his own muscle and stood up to reel it in. "Typhon! Get to it!" Despite his words, he was pleased to see the Gible was on it. He may have come across as simple but he was all too dependable. Yanking the catch above water, Joey pulled a face at the sight of yet another Seaking. "Blimey, these are in season. Should be good practice now you got a feel for 'em! Go for it Typhon!" Encouraging his Pokemon on, he was hoping this time around the Gible would be able to land a better strike and also defend adequately against a familiar foe.
Landing a text book Dragon Claw and even getting blasted with another Water Pulse. Knowing what to expect, the blow came off not nearly as bad as prior. "Ehh... Talk about deja vu. Feels like we've gone through all this before. Although..." Trailing off thoughtfully as he delved into an inner jacket pocket, the biker thief came out brandishing a Lure Ball in his hand. Swiftly enlarging the device and taking a quick aim, he hoped this time around would be a success. "Hang in there Typh, i'll handle the rest. For real this time." Tossing the capture device forward with a curve, Typhon splashed up and down. "TYPHON READY IF FAIL!"

For a Pokémon that was appearing to be rather common at the moment, Seaking had proven to be an elusive capture so far. It was only a few moments ago that Joey had failed to capture the first one he’d set eyes on, and that was using the powerful Quick Ball. However, any veteran trainer would probably be aware that any capture took a little luck, particularly when dealing with evolved Pokémon such as this. The Seaking watched nervously as Typhon splashed around waiting for an order. This little tyke seemed formidable, and it was unsure how long it’d last in battle. What joy Seaking must have felt, then, when it realised Joey’s true motive was simply to catch it. Entrusting at least part of his fate to Lady Luck, or whatever superstitions the thief believed in, he reached for a Lure Ball. This wasn’t as strong a tool as his previous weapon of choice, but it’d have to do. Without a moment’s thought, the young man threw it at the Seaking, and as per usual the target was quickly trapped within the orb. The Lure Ball fell to the surface of the water and began to tremble. Once… Twice… Thrice… DING! Congratulations! Joey successfully caught the Seaking!
Typhon gained 1,950 experience for his participation (extra due to Lucky Egg)! [3826/5167] He also gained 1 Happiness (rising to +4)!

Watching over the capture, Joey stood as far as he could at the end of the embankment of land and leaned forward. Observing the ball bobble up and down as the Seaking seemed to be fighting the capture still, Joey looked over and noted Typhon was ready to go still in the event of a break out. Thankfully, that wouldn't have to happen as the Lure Ball resounded with a satisfying click to notify of a successful capture. "Ha ha! Alright!" He proclaimed, pumping his fist in the air. The last Seaking had managed to evade their capture and push them to the point of having to finish the fight by usual means but it was nice to add another Pokemon to his collection. "Y'know, i'm not out to catch 'em all but I reckon i've caught quite a few at this point. Kinda makes me wish I pinched a Pokedex off the lab back when I first set foot here in ol' Johto." Running a contemplative hand over his stubble, he recalled back to the lab he had 'borrowed' Salazar and Puka from. "Hmm... Pretty sure that lab had some there. Dammit, maybe it'll be worth a return trip there if I feel like I am gonna achieve that lofty goal."
Pushing it aside, he winced a little as he realised the ball was a little too far out for him to simply grab without getting completely sodden. "Yo, Typhon, mind playin' fetch for me? C'mon, get the ball." Paddling over to it, Typhon growled out in his own decipherable speech. "TYPHON GET! NOM!" Biting onto the ball gently, he paddled over back out of the river and onto land and presented his impressive maw upwards for Joey to collect the freshly caught Pokemon. Pocketing it away, Joey grinned. "Good job, I feel like this trainin' session has been a good way of bonding. How about we fish up somethin' else for you to train on?" "TYPHON FIGHT MORE! TYPHON GET STRONG!" Darting over to the edge of the embankment, the Gible waited patiently for signs of life. "Haha, okay, okay. Lemme thread this rod with some bait... And get it all... Ready. Here goes!" Tossing it back out, he watched as the line plummeted into the water. "Wonder what it'll be this time?"

The hail continued to pelt down as Joey reflected on just how many captures he had made so far in his journey. It seemed like a month since the thief had started on his fishing venture here in Route 42, and here he was still searching for yet more Pokémon. Once Typhon returned to land with the fancy Lure Ball in his voracious mouth, Joe could return to that hunt. In the five or so battles since his return, perhaps he’d managed to find all of the Pokémon currently in the route, or perhaps there was one more elusive capture to seek out. The only way to tell right now would be to try and fish one up. Or perhaps to consult a trainer’s guide of the route, but that’d be an easy way out. Regardless of whether Joey knew what he was searching for or not, it was quite clear to anyone that he had the patience to keep on fishing up Water types for his Gible to knock seven bells out of. Joey cast his line yet again, the motion now probably committed to muscle memory, and waited patiently for his newest opponent to surface. With the late-summer hailstorm still in full swing, the fish were taking longer to appear this time around. Typhon stared out into the ocean and could only be praying that something showed up soon so he could get STRONGER. It might have been a little disappointing, then, that the next Pokémon was one of the punier fish Joey had already set his ‘runt’ on. As a small tug alerted the trainer to a catch, he reeled it in quickly and revealed a small fish of all different shades of blue. Quite different to the earlier Seaking, this Finneon was still one that the duo would recognise. It splashed about happily as it came up to the surface, clearly not realising what was about to befall it. A wild Finneon (Level 26) has started playing in front of Joe’s eyes! Joey’s fishing level increased by 1 yet again. Not even beginning to notice the Gible that was now tearing through the water to attack it, Finneon’s first disturbance was instead a rough hailstone striking it on the back. This quickly forced a tear out of Finneon, whose only goal was to have fun right now. The surface world seemed a nice place, after all. Warm, nice scenery, cute little dragon babies swimming in the water. Said dragon baby repeated the same move that had worked so well in all of his previous battles, if one could call them battles, and slashed Finneon with a powerful Dragon Claw. At this exact moment, Finneon learned that life was not all a game, and that some creatures were out for blood. Particularly the cruel air-breathers. This lesson was just about all that could have cropped up in Finneon’s mind before it became blank and it lay there, belly up in the water. At least Joey wouldn’t have to decide if he needed more stock to sell! Typhon Training Session
Wild Finneon | Level 26 Health: 0% (0/69 HP)Status: KO’d Finneon splashed about playfully! VS Typhon | Level 41 Health: 100% (111/111 HP) Status: Normal Typhon used Dragon Claw!
Congratulations! The wild Finneon has been defeated! Typhon gained 1950 experience (extra due to Lucky Egg)! He reached Level 42! [609/5,419] He also gained 1 Happiness! Typhon can evolve! Will he? [Should've given the evolution option last level-up but forgot, sorry for that. Feeling the faintest tug, Joey pulled an incredulous eyebrow as he allowed it to tug a few more times before realising this wasn't just a minor disruption from the ebb and flow of the waves or even the downpour of hail. This instead was a definite bite albeit a faint one. "Seems like we got a tiny little nibbler. Get ready for it, Typh!" "TYPHON ATTACK!" Not having to exert too much of his muscle, he yanked the old decrepit rod upwards and watch as the bounty of the river was bought into view. Not expecting much of a whopper, he squinted in as he noticed it was yet another Finneon. "Figures it wasn't going to be a big 'un." Putting aside his shred of disappointment, he took a comfortable seat back on the embankment as Typhon made short work of the distance between them. Having come a long way in terms of swimming ability if nothing else, it was incredible watching the infant Gible hone in on the prey. "Now if he was part Water type it'd definitely be like watching a Sharpedo move in for dinner time."
Now within striking distance, Typhon propelled himself forward once more as he struck out his thirsty claws which made short work of the prey. "ROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAR!" Trying to sound as intimidating as possible, it fell a little flat but the damage had been done. "Score another one for Typhon. Looks like you've really got the hang of this." Nodding as the Finneon sunk into the water and drifted away along the river, Joey took a small stretch and resumed back to preparing his rod. "Hey, hold up a sec there. Lemme try and fish somethin' out. Try and keep quiet, okay? This way we should get a quicker jump on anythin' AND make you STRONGER quicker. How's that sound?" Tossing the line in, Typhon had contemplated it and seemed happy to endorse the strategy. "TYPHON FOLLOW POKE-MAN'S IDEA."
OOC: I'm fine holding off on evolving. He's gonna evolve at some pivotal moment or other. Haven't quite decided yet, plus enjoying the little tyke as he is. Either way, fishing yet again with the Old Rod and using Dragon Claw on whatever surfaces.

Typhon’s strength was quite obviously increasing. It had been quite terrifying already, of course. The young Gible was tearing through his opponents easier with each battle, and Joe had even noticed an improvement in the little one’s ability in the water. The hail continued to fall, forcing one to wonder exactly what the weatherman had been playing at predicting an end to the storm. Not that Typhon seemed to care one jot right now. He was focused on getting STRONGER, and that seemed to be taking precedence in his mind over the uncomfortable weather. He did his best to shut his trap while Joey cast his line back out into the ocean and the two waited for another bite. The silence at first didn’t seem to be doing much, with the string remaining quite lax. However, before long the new tactic worked its magic and another bite made itself quite known to Joey. Reeling this one in, it was another relatively large, orange fish. This one, however, had quite the different ornament adorning its face. A golden crown, in fact. The Magikarp stared blankly at its captor, looking just about as stupid as one would expect. A wild Magikarp (Level 32) was hooked! Joe’s fishing level increased by 0.5!Typhon immediately roared as loudly as he could and dived straight into the water. Tearing through the surface of the ocean, his arms were getting rather used to the treks back and forth now. His legs were doing precious little to help his propulsion, but the Gible was still a scary sight. Alert now and quite aware that something was threatening its very existence, the Magikarp swam toward Gible with a particularly determined look on its face. Yet still it managed to look dopey, somehow. The famously feeble fish flew fiercely… at Typhon, ramming him with all of its lacklustre strength. Typhon stopped as Magikarp struck him, surprised at the lack of pain. His reaction was delayed, but it came a few seconds after he realised what had happened. He slashed the Magikarp across the face with another of those Dragon Claws that were becoming rather predictable now. And, as had happened just before, the new fish found itself unable to stay conscious for more than about two seconds, courtesy perhaps of a hailstone bopping it on the forehead. Typhon rejoiced for a moment before a similar shard of ice smacked him also. He flinched and began his swim back to the shore. VS. IPF Officer
Magikarp | Level 32 Health: 0% (0/64 HP)Status: Deth Magikarp Tackled with all the ferocity of a wet flannel! VS Typhon | Level 42 Health: 89% (101/113 HP) Status: Triumphant Typhon Dragon Clawed like a champion! Congratulations, I guess? The Magikarp was beaten! Typhon gained 2,400 experience (extra through Lucky Egg)! [3,009/5,419] He also gained 1 Happiness!

Awaiting a bite with his line bobbing up and down in the river, Joey let out a small yawn as he pondered on what to do next. "Y'know, we must've fished up the entire river by now. Maybe we oughta start fishin' up in that bigger lake. What was it called? Lake of anger? Meh." Just as he came to a close on what other sights there were to see, a bite on his line stole his attention right back to the fore. "LINE BIT! LINE BIT!" Cried out Typhon incessantly as even he noticed the rod moving back and forth. "Don't gotta tell me twice, gonna bring it up, get goin'!" Exerting just enough muscle, the line pulled up the fish to reveal none other than a... Magikarp. "Oh. Well. More trainin' fodder for-HUHWHAT?!" His false sense of security exploited completely, he was shocked to see the Magikarp was actually a lot faster and had decided to retaliate for being disturbed from the watery depths of the river. "Typhon, watch out! This Magikarp's not goofin' about!"
Steadying himself for a hit, Typhon stopped his movements in order to brace for the tackle. Getting dabbed by the flailing fish's strike, Joey's Gible went floating backwards but was able to pull things together and it wasn't long before the dragon claws showed their might once more. Raking across the opponent's body, Joey let out a smirk as he watched the defeated flee off following the attack. "Great stuff as always. Was kinda thinkin' that 'Karp was gonna be a pushover but that tackle came out of nowhere. Least you showed him who is strong haha." Despite his jokey tone, he at least was right in the fact that Typhon had pulled his weight and fought off the Magikarp. "C'mon, let's fish up a better opponent this time. None of this Magikarp stuff. Dragon Claw the next unlucky SOB." "TYPHON WANT STRONG!"

Joey had been sat there fishing and enjoying the shelter from this big tree from the hail. But the hail slowly stopped and harsh cold winds started up. It was going to be hard to cast a line in these winds. But Joey managed too, though a bit off course it hit the water. The water the was calm before starting to hit up against the bank, but a bite happened. With a sharp tug of his rod (hehehehe) the line shot out of the water to reveal!
A Magikarp level 31 wants to battle 0.5 adding to your fishing skill!
Oh dear. Not again. But a fight was a fight and Typhon knew that as much as Joey. So he ran up it thinking it was going to strike first, but the Maigkarp jumped out the water tackling Typhon. Typhon wasn't going to take this sitting down oh no! The small Gible got to his feet after being surprised and slashed the Magikarp across the face. With more damage then normal! Looks like a critical. The Magikarp sinks back into the choppy water. Typhon won!
Your Typhon fought well in battle. Typhon gained 2,325 exp (extra exp due to Lucky egg) (5,335/5,419) He also gains one happiness!

Letting out a sizeable yawn, after all it had been quite some time since they had first begun fishing, Joey wondered what manner of marine life would be dredged up today. Holding a hand on his trusty decrepit rod and another balancing his chin on his hand, he was soon lifted out of his boredom as the rod began to buckle under the pulling force of the new catch. "Hey up Typhon, yet another one for the chopping block." Ripping it out of the watery depths, his eye affixed onto the spoils as soon as it emerged but was met with a small twang of disappointment. By now, a familiar orange and yellow colouring had been enough to notify him of it being another Magikarp. "What a surprise." With the Magikarp now bought to the fore, Joey laid back casually as he awaited the fireworks to kick off. "TYPHON ATTACK!" Letting out a little warning roar, the Gible went lunging forward and with a mighty cleave of his claws, managed to best the floundering fish.
Wincing a little, it seemed like even Joey picked up on the critical strike. "Wow, that was some attack. Just goes to show you're a strong little nut now." Splashing around in the waters, Typhon seemed overly pleased with the praise. From his time living in the caverns of Mt. Mortar, he had only ever received scolding and abuse. It was a miracle the little tyke had any form of self esteem left. "Y'know, I got a feelin' there's something more to this lake. Just sitting beneath the surface. Not often when I get a hunch but when I do..." Preparing the old rod, he looked a bit further out to the river's berth and cast out with a mighty hurl. Hearing out for the satisfying plonk into the water's surface, he took a seat back down on the embankment, weather be damned. "Let's go for a few more. Course you'll get stronger and stronger the more you fight. "TYPHON GET STRONG!" Laughing, Joey still didn't really understand Typhon's speech but he was constantly recalling this same line over and over. He was also getting a small inkling as to what it meant. "No kiddin', you'll be the strongest of the strong. Dragon Claw whatever's up next, 'kay?"

Joey looked down at Typhon, he was proud of his new smaller then average Pokemon. Typhon didn't notice his trainer looking at him, he was too busy looking out on the lake waiting for Joey to cast his rod. Joey cast the line a little closer then he used to making it hit the bottom of the lake. Annoyed Joey reeled it in to re-cast! But wait something seems to be on it?! A wild Stunfisk (Level 32) wants to battle! The Stunfisk flapped a little helplessly before flopping back into the lake. It looked angry and annoyed it had been bothered, it was just about to take a nap. Typhon new what to do and ran forward slicing at it's fishy foe. A little taken back and confused, the stunfish used his tail to get a big bit of mud on it firing it at Typhon. While not doing much damage, it seemed to slow him down a bit. Battle

Having thrown in his line and waited a while, Joey seemed convinced that nothing had decided to take the bait. Given how much of a state the rod was in, it was probable it wasn't going to live up to perfect fishing every time. "Argh, g'damnit. Bet it slipped off. Well, time to haul in and recast." Using his upper half to bring the rod back, he was caught off guard as he felt some resistance. "What? That ain't right, feels like somethin's grabbed on after all... Well... Let's find... OUT! HNNGH!" Finally exerting enough force, he pulled the line out and alongside it was a Pokemon Joey had never seen before. It was weird to say the least. It's flat body, moronic face and colouration meant it had to be a rare species. "Now just what the heck is this? Here I was thinking Dunfart was bit of an idiot." Standing back to watch Typhon entangle with the foe, he was surprised even further when it seemed as if the fearsome blow had been absorbed with little to no problem. "WAH? TYPHON NOT WIN?" The surprise was palpable even with Typhon who staggered backwards after the realisation set in that Dragon Claw had failed to do any significant damage.
"Damn, this Pokemon must have some stamina, watch out Typhon!" As much of a fool the Pokemon looked, it was still going to abide by the rules of battling and launch a counter attack. Watching as it spewed up a hefty amount of mud, Joey surmised a bit further about its typing. "So, a Ground and Water type, eh? Hah, always a good combo." Having wrongly assumed because it was fished up from the ground it was part Water type, time would only tell if he came to fully appreciate its typing. "Don't worry Typh, I got this one. If we can bring in a tank of a Pokemon like that, it can only help us in the good fight." Bringing out a Lure Ball, he tossed it forward, hoping for a capture.

As Joey tossed the Lure Ball the Stunfisk looked at it confused and as such the ball hit succesfully, however it wouldn't be that easy for Joey. The stunfisk realised thsi is how other's disappeared after trainer's showed up and quickly began to try and get it self out. The Lure ball roocked once before a pause which the Stun Fish Managed to get itself out of the ball and it the used ball away. With that done the stunfisk sighed in relief before looking at Joey and Typhon. In the stunfisk's eyes Joey and typhon had caused this and the Stunfisk wasn't too happy about it. After a quick cry the Stunfisk it opened it's motuh causing a jet of water to shot at Typhon. Unluckily for Typhon the surprising failed capture was enough to allow the water gun to hit. Typhon skid back from the power in it but managed to shake the water off before awaiting orders from Joey once more. Would Joey try again or would he go for another attack to increase hsi chances? The answer to this would be only known by Joey himself and only time would tell what he would do. Battle
