Steadfast and sure[F]

[Marchbaby]

As Marchbaby and his Pokemon reached the outskirts of Goldenrod City the young man took a moment to admire the beautiful skyline in the distance. It has been a while since he had been to the city and it was a far cry from the small town feel of Blackthorn. " I never do get tired of seeing the golden city. It has been a little while since I have laid eyes on that majestic view. The only more beautiful sight is that of the mountains that tower over Blackthorn. That is a sight I cannot wait to see again. Oh what a beautiful sight it is." He said as Kamikaze and Atropos completely focused their attention elsewhere trying to pretend the other was not there.

Alpha had been silent since Silver had been defeated but upon seeing the skyline itself the robotic Pokemon could not help but to comment on it as well. " My what a marvelous achievement in engineering this city is. The amount of planning and work required to build such a large city must have been exhausting. It goes to show just how hard work can pay off. I think I might just take a liking to this place. I wonder if crime is a problem here? The sounds of sirens in the distance did unnerve the young Metang a bit but it still had hope for the city. As his remaining Pokemon popped out of their Pokeball's Honeysuckle started to throw punches at the air trying to work on her technique while Shocker fired a Thunderbolt towards a tree to test it's aim. While all of this was going on Bonecrusher walked up to March and started to rub his head against the young mans leg.

" I take it you are just happy to be out of your Pokeball? While we are here we might just find something that you can take on so you can evolve. I can feel you are so close and by fighting just a bit harder you will become even stronger than you already are. I do not recall the kinds of Pokemon that are known to appear around here but there must be something you will be able to handle buddy." He said as he tried too pick the young Pokemon up forgetting how heavy he was. " You sure are heavy. You do not look anywhere near as heavy as you are. I guess that armor is a huge part of it. Let's try to look for something to battle in the tall grass as my back tries to recover from pricking you up."

As March reflected on the big, bustling city and all of its wonders, an enemy lie waiting in the grass. A certain snake type Pokemon was lying low, carefully watching the trainer’s every move, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Seviper’s tongue slowly slithered out of its mouth and rattled, it was ready for some drama. Little did March know that he was getting closer and closer to a very dangerous trap, Sevipers were known for their nasty temperament but perhaps one of his Pokemon could sense the snake before it was too late.

Shocker’s levitation made it more aware of Pokemon hiding on the ground, so right before Seviper was about to pounce on its trainer, the Magneton quickly flew in front of him. The steel Pokemon was quite immune towards the Seviper’s poison attacks, so no damage was dealt. The snake foe hissed threateningly and began calculating on how it would be able to get around this stupid metal ball. March had to make a decision quickly, this Seviper was out for blood. Bonecrusher and his peers all stood close, wondering in awe of what was happening between their electric friend and this poison monster.

A wild Seviper (level 20) wants to battle!

[Marchbaby]

As Shocker used a bit of quick thinking to get him out of the immediate danger the Seviper posed Marchbaby could focus his thoughts on how to handle the snake Pokemon. Shocker had avoided damage thanks to it's type but he wanted to give another one of his Pokemon a chance to battle. Most of his Pokemon were so slow that Seviper would get the jump on them but Atropos could use her Shadow Sneak to outrun the poisonous Pokemon allowing her to strike first. " Atropos I want you to try and fend this thing off. You have not had much of a chance to battle lately so I cannot paa this chance to make you stronger." Alpha started to speak right afterwards before the bleached Shuppet could get a word in.

" That Seviper is not very friendly. I would be more of a help if I was fully evolved but alas I am still stuck in my middle evolutionary form. I hope Atropos is as strong as she thinks she is." With her chance to speak finally Atropos began to open up. " That puny thing has you worried? It looks like a cute little pile of leather waiting on it's turn to become a pair of shoes. It could not hurt a kitten yet alone either of you two but if you insist I will give it a taste of my power." She then floated towards the snake with a huge grin on her face. She was ready to strike the poison type as soon as Marchbaby gave her the order. Seviper seemed to grow anxious of the waiting and Marchbaby could not think things over for long.

Taking a deep breath he gave Atropos orders hoping he was not going to get the young ghost harmed too badly. " Atropos use Shadow Sneak on Seviper. Show that snake how fast a spirit such as yourself can move." Atropos quickly responded before making her move. " You want to see fast? I will show you fast. I will scare you so badly with my powers your bones and skin will swap places. Prepare to meet you end. HERE I COME READY OR NOT." She then disappeared into the ground becoming one with the shadows. She just need to wait for the right moment to strike so Seviper would have no way to avoid her attack.

Ooc: Marchbaby sends out Atropos. Atropos uses Shadow Sneak and being a priority move she should strike first.

Seviper licked its lips at the site of the Shuppet, thinking of course that it was going to be stronger than the ghost type, the snake was ready to go in for the kill. Seviper was quite thankful that the foe chose not to use the large magnet Pokemon, for Seviper’s poison attacks would do not damage to a Pokemon ruled by the world of metal.

The cold weather made the snake Pokemon shiver, but of course it didn’t want the foe to see it at anything but its best. It coiled up, getting ready to attack the funny looking ghost type with a sinister attack. It bared its fangs and hissed menacingly, it was quite the nasty Pokemon to face up against. Its tongue rattled and its tail shook, ready to go in on the foe.

Just when Seviper was about to attack the Shuppet disappeared! The poison villain looked everywhere and suddenly from the shadows of the falling snow the ghost lurched forward, hitting the snake type ferociously. Now the snake was angry, its fangs oozed with venom. The snake let out a surge of venom at the ghost type, although it would’ve done more damage if the target was already poisoned.

Marchbaby had at first thought he was making a risky move using a non Poison type in the battle but as the dust from the first round settled neither Pokemon was close to fainting. Atropos was not as powerful as she had led herself to believe but Seviper had also been knocked down a few pegs as it could not keep track of her until he struck first. In a battle where neither Pokemon could get an easy knockout without getting lucky things were not looking so bad at all. " Nice job Atropos, you really scored a good hit there and you did not take too much damage yourself. Do not allow this early success to get to your head though as that Seviper looks angry. I do not think it liked your attack at all."

Atropos quickly responded to put any fears he had to bed. " I know what I am doing. After seeing this creature up close it is just so cute I cannot bring myself to knock it out in a single blow. Who could not love a creature with such beautiful fangs. It would be a wonderful pet or slave for me. Either way I would be thrilled. It is just a question of how much more pain I need to put it through before it begs me to take it in as a pet or slave." As she danced around the snake teasing it into trying to make a move too quickly Marchbaby put his head between his hands and shook his head in disbelief. She took far too many chances for his liking but there was no way to reason with her.

Alpha saw the whole ordeal as a silly distraction from the usual methods of battling and added it's own two cents into the mix. " She looks like she is having fun. It must be interesting if nothing else to be a spirit. The things one can get away with once their physical form passes it's expiration is amusing if nothing else. If I were that Seviper I would not be wasting my energy trying to keep up with the undead but rather I would wait for them to make a mistake and then strike to teach them a lesson." Having seen enough of the display Marchbaby gave his orders. " Atropos use Shadow Sneak again and please do not waste time. You will only make Seviper more angry if you keep up this display."

[Morrigan]

Poison from the previous attack dripped from the fangs of the Seviper. Angered by the tricks of Atropos, the stark white Shuppet and irritated the dark snake more than it already had been and it was beginning to show. As the Shuppet danced around the wild foe, teasing it by weaving in and out of the shadows, the poisonous serpent could feel its pent up anger begin to reach boiling point. Hissing defensively, the snake was giving the luminous ghoul a warning. If she didn't start fighting properly, she would be sorry. But for Atropos, this was all just a game. She was simply playing, poking fun at the Seviper to see how much anger and hidden strength it held. For if she found it worthy, the Shuppet would happily take it under her wing.

Disappearing into the shadows once again, the Seviper glanced around, trying to pin point what direction Atropos could appear from. But there were shadows all over, making it near enough impossible to narrow down. Thus, with a flash, her body lunged out from behind the Seviper, attacking it with a ghostly force. Wincing, the snake turned its head and released a ear piercing screech from its wide jaw. Sending a shudder across the body of the Shuppet, even if she wouldn't necessarily admit any sign of fear, it was best that she started to act more weary of her opponent.

As he watched Atropos score another hit only to be blasted by a devastating Screech attack. Though she would never admit it her defense took a massive hit and he could not bring himself to risk her getting hurt too badly. Taking a moment to work up the courage to call her back he finally ordered the spirit back to his side. " This hurts my pride as much as it does your's Atropos but you need to fall back. There is not telling what might happen now that your defense has dropped so much." Atropos was pretty angry at his words but as the last thing she wanted was to have Kamikaze force her into obeying him she reluctantly agreed.

" I do not really have a chance here only because of that damned weasel and her murderous claws. Her kind is a bane to spirits everywhere. I would party till the end of time if every Weavile on earth met an untimely demise." She said as she floated back towards Marchbaby and the rest of his Pokemon. Once she was safely by his side Marchbaby had a difficult choice to make. Though a few of his Pokemon were immune to Poison types he wanted to allow Alpha a chance to do some training as well as Bonecrusher. Though he would have loved to use Alpha as it's intelligence was enough to push it through any situation the fangs on Seviper looked really nasty and a Bite attack would cause the young Metang a ton of damage so he had no other choice than to use Bonecrusher.

" Alright Bonecrusher looks like you will get a chance to practice but maybe not in the way you had hoped. Your armor will protect you from Seviper's steel type moves so that should help. I want you to work on your defenses and take one for the team here." As he took a moment to rummage through his backpack he found a Great Ball he planned on using so long as Bonecrusher held on. " So long as you are able to hold on I will use this Great Ball and try to capture this snake as I think it might be useful on the road ahead. There is just something about it's fighting spirit I admire and I cannot let that go to waste." He said as he readied himself to toss the Great Ball if things went according to plan.

Seviper’s tongue slithered out of its large mouth, rattling with excitement regarding the battle. Although it was quite cold outside due to the winter weather, the rush of battle warmed up the cold-blooded killer. Even if the enemy wasn’t a Zangoose, Seviper still had a big rivalry with any foe that dared to cross its path. The poisonous, sharp tail swayed back and forth, letting March know that the snake was rearing to attack once more.

The ghost white Shuppet was ordered to return to the ball from whence it came. In its place, a shiny Aron plopped into the battlefield. Seviper was no fool, it knew that this Pokemon was a steel type by its silvery metal coat, which meant that Venoshock would do no good in this battle. The predator’s eyes narrowed and the attack “glare” was activated, stunning the Aron in place. Little did the Pokemon know, that March had other plans in mind. A blue ball had been grabbed from his travel-bag, and the sphere soared through the winter air toward the foe. Encapsulated, the Seviper lashed and writhed, trying to get out. Seviper would not prove to win this battle, the ball clicking with a confirming beep.

As the Glare froze Bonecrusher in his tracks Marchbaby hoped his plan would work so that his Pokemon would not be in danger for long. With the snake Pokemon still glaring at the young Aron Marchbaby tossed the great ball he was holding at the snake and held his breath hoping for a capture. As the ball made contact with the snake and closed shut his thoughts raced through his mind worrying that it might escape. To his relief however despite the Seviper's best efforts it was unable to break the ball open and it clicked shut. Marchbaby could sigh in relief knowing that both his Pokemon was safe and that they had also won the battle. 

As he walked over and picked up the ball Bonecrusher snapped out of his paralyzed state and started to celebrate. He had served as the perfect target to draw the snakes attention to make the capture a success and he was quite proud to have helped bring the battle to an end. Atropos was not thrilled that she did not get to win the battle by herself but she could still try and get a pet out of the ordeal as she saw the snake Pokemon as quite an attractive little critter to own. " Can we keep this sweet thing? It would make the perfect pet for me. I promise I will take care of it. Not only that but it might help us if we run into any pesky fairy types. Those things hate poison types and this little guy looks like he could easily handle anything they threw at him." She said as she hoped Marchbaby would keep the snake and let her have it.

After thinking it over for a while he finally made up his mind. " Fine we can keep it. It will be gone the first time you misbehave though I do not care what your excuse is. If letting you have this Seviper is what it takes to get you to behave it is worth keeping it around." Atropos was filled with glee with the news that she could have the snake.Sure being forced to behave was something she was not thrilled with but being nice was worth it to her to have a pet that could maul anything that tried to harm her. : Oh boy now what should I name you? I know how about Apep given your chaotic nature. I think it fits you perfectly." She said as Marchbaby nodded his head agreeing to the name.

With the threat now over Marchbaby and his Pokemon continued to search through the tall grass. They had no idea that a snake Pokemon would jump out at them so close to a populated city and they did not know what to expect next. So long as it meant catching his brother and protecting his hometown though he would find a way to win against anything that came his way.

He is Atropos's personl pet and serves her loyally without question even acting as her bodyguard. He is known to act aggressively around Marchbaby's other Pokemon and only obeys Atropos ignoring everything Marchbaby says. His favorite method for dealing with foes is to send waves of poison towards them and as they try and deal with the pain slither up and bite them with his fangs. He one day hopes to master his technique so that he can bring down just about any foe he encounters.

Although March had just battled a ferocious Seviper, the likes of which many trainers will never see in their lifetime, another foe was crawling up from the grass. This enemy could be another deadly Seviper, or perhaps a Zangoose looking for a quarrel. The two seemed to despise each other and the fact that they lived in the same area didn’t spell good news for March. Perhaps he was about to be caught in the middle of a long running blood feud. The grass rustled closer and closer to March, whatever it was, it was quite low to the ground. Was it attempting to try a sneak attack on the trainer and his party?!

A purple tail popped up from the grass, it seemed familiar. Out popped two large, bucked-teeth. Sweet relief, it was just a pesky Rattata. The rat smiled at the Pokemon collector, and cocked its head in confusion. What was this trainer doing out here? It wondered. Oh well, he seemed harmless. Rattata went back to eat the berry that it had found, paying no mind to March and his band of Pokemon.

Rattata (level 16) wants to battle!

Marchbaby was worried for a moment as the grass began to rustle nearby as the sounds of a Seviper might draw a Zangoose to him. Luckily for him however a purple tail appeared from the grass that was quickly identified as being that of a Rattata. Feeling far less worried than he was before Marchbaby looked at the rat Pokemon with great curiosity as he did not think an area like this would be too safe for a Rattata with Seviper being in the area. Surely it could be running around the back alleys of Goldenrod City and find food while being far safer.Still he could not help but think about challenging the small purple Pokemon to a battle, seeing as how it would be the perfect foe for Alpha.

" This Rattata must be pretty brave eating out here with Seviper in the area, not many young Pokemon I know of would push their luck like that. I think you should battle it Alpha, you still are a long time from evolving and every bit of experience helps." Alpha had not fought a Rattata before but it knew they were good at using their teeth. This one being on the young side helped ease some of the worry but not all of it. " Well I suppose you are right but I am still worried about those teeth. They can easily pierce my armor, though this one being so young should mean I could handle it if I had to." With Alpha agreeing to battle the young Rattata it moved into position to fight.

Alpha still had not mastered any powerful moves yet but it's Metal Claw should be able to leave quite the mark on the young rat. " I think Metal Claw will be a good attack to try first. It might not be in the same league as Meteor Mash but that would be overkill here. I am unsure of how fast Rattata is but I will try to outrun it and score the first hit." As Alpha readied it's claws the robotic Pokemon made it's way towards Rattata as fast as possible. Once it was in striking distance Alpha made it's move. " I feel kinda bad doing this as you are so young but to become stronger I must defeat any foe I encounter no matter their age or size." It said as it swiped it's claws trying to strike the small purple Pokemon.

Ooc: Alpha goes into battle and uses Metal Claw.

[Lamont]

Rattata munched away, happily slurping up the juices of the partially frozen berry without any worries. It's large buck teeth cut into the soft flesh like butter. The light hum of the approaching steel pokémon barely registered above the natters and slurps, so you can imagine the poor rat's surprise when suddenly a shadow overtook it. The purple rat dropped its food, squeaking its complaint but a moment before the shining metal claws of Alpha swooped down and tore through the grass. Blades of green flew into he air, as did the small body of the wild Rattata.

Hollering the whole way up the small pokémon spun in a bit of a shock. Shaking its head it regained its senses, finding itself on its way down back toward its scary opponent. Though Alpha wasn't a snake trying to find a meal Rattata knew what to do. Opening its mouth the little rat gained mild control of its fall and managed to bite down on Alpha's arm. A loud clang erupted from the impact, Rattata's big strong teeth not over-hyped as the damage seeped through the metang's natural armor.

Shaking off the shock of the bite that Rattata had inflicted on Alpha was no easy task as the attack was super effective. It was only it's combination of being a higher level and all the armor it had that Alpha was able to recover as quickly as it did. " So it would appear that you bite was not quite as powerful as I feared but you still have quite the bite for a little one. Even so my last attack seems to have done far more damage as you look like you are about to topple over." Alpha said as it was ready to move in for one final blow.

Not seeing a reason not to try and capture it however Marchbaby intervened in the nick of time. " Hold up just a minute here Alpha. I know Rattata are not very powerful but I still think we might be able to find some use for this little critter. With a bite like that there must be some way that we could use it even if we use it for breeding moves onto other Pokemon it would still be worth it." He said as Alpha backed off. Alpha even knew how useful breeding moves onto other Pokemon could be though his species was plagued by a lack of breeding options and egg moves. With the decision to try and capture Rattata set in stone Marchbaby just needed to decide which ball to use.

He had a few to pick from but as he was not too sure how much longer a Pokeball would be a viable choice he figured now would be a good time to try and use the last one he had before it's usefulness fell to nothing. " I know Pokeballs themselves are not the most reliable choice but Rattata looks pretty beat up and I do not think it will be able to escape from it. Even it it does I still have plenty of other kinds of balls to use." He said as he reached into his backpack to grab the Pokeball. As Alpha watched from the side the young dragon tamer threw the ball towards the Rattata, hoping his luck would be good just as it had with Seviper but only time would tell. All he could do now was wait and hope for the best.

It took no Pokemon expert to realize Alpha was a rare Pokemon, its incredibly unique appearance and strong threshold made it quite obvious that this Pokemon was incredibly rare. Rattata was certainly lucky to be in the presence of such a special Pokemon. Steven was really the only famous trainer to utilize the steel type Pokemon, in fact his seemed to have many Beldums in his possession. Perhaps he bred them to give to trainer whom had extreme potential.

Rattata was ready to attack, its teeth bared and armed. It hissed and screeched, not happy with how the battle was going. The only thing it could do is try and ward the trainer off by acting incredibly nasty. March threw the Pokeball at the rat, trapping it inside the sphere. Try as it may to escape, the rat had no energy left. It clicked signally that it was caught, ready for March to go over and pick the ball up to send to the pc. Rattata would be lucky, however, its new trainer had many different Pokemon from many different backgrounds. This purple mouse would make many new friends and allies under March’s guidance.

As the battle ended with a successful capture Alpha was glad it did not have to go through another Bite attack. Even if it was plenty tough enough to take the hit it was always good to avoid unnecessary damage. " So I do believe this battle is now over. I can feel myself growing a little bit stronger but I still have a long way to go before the full extent of my powers will be unlocked." Taking a moment to gather some scrap metal off the ground to repair the damage it had taken Alpha fired a laser from it's eyes while attaching the scrap metal to it's arm to weld the damage shut.

Upon repairing the damage Alpha began to speak again. " There that should be sufficient for now. I will try and find a stronger metal later to do better repairs until I evolve but this should do for now, I wonder if there is anything else out here looking for a fight." Marchbaby paused for a moment impressed by the handy repair job Alpha had done. As the young dragon tamer thought of what he should do next it did not take him very long to decide to stay put for now as they had good luck here so far and there was no point in leaving as this seemed to be a popular spot for wild Pokemon.

" Great job Alpha you have done very well. I do believe staying here and training more is the best course of action for now but once we do go into the city we should be able to find plenty of stronger metal. I have a feeling we will need it once we do get around to challenging the gym here, I can only imagine what we will need to be ready for but we will not give up." He said as He heard a noise in a nearby part of the tall grass. Having plenty of free time until he would be ready to face his brother anyway he wanted to see what else was headed his way and maybe get more training in as he would need it.

" Whatever is heading our way will be in for a treat. I do not know what it might be but whatever it is we are going to battle it and hopefully get some more training in. We are slowly getting closer to being ready for the next gym."
