Alpha was living up to its name as it dominated the battle so far. The young Darumaka facing them was quite brave but outmatched even with its best efforts. Both Alpha and Marchbaby felt bad for it as the poor fire type was looking really tired after the last round. Another Bullet Punch would easily end the battle but Marchbaby had the option to capture the young Pokemon as well. It was not the easiest choice in the world as Darumaka were pretty notorious for their ability to escape Pokeballs but they were also not native to the area. Marchbaby sought advice from Alpha before making up his mind.
" Alpha I need your advice on this, I wanted to capture this Darumaka but I know how crafty they can be. It might take a few tries to catch it so do you think you can hold on a while if things go haywire?" Though Alpha had already shown its willingness to take one for the team it was not about to back down now, facing towards the young dragon tamer Alpha made it clear nothing would cause it to give in. " I will hold firm no matter the obstacle, nothing our foe throws at me will break my will. If you intend to capture Darumaka I will not quit until we succeed." Alpha's words had convinced him that capturing Darumaka was the better option of the two.
He grabbed his backpack and began searching for a Great Ball as Alpha kept focusing on the tiny fire type, usually Alpha would be afraid of such a type but this young one had hardly put a dent in its armor giving the robotic Pokemon nothing to fear. A few more seconds passed before Marchbaby took hold of a Great Ball and took aim at Darumaka. " Darumaka you have fought well and I would like to bring you with me. As a Dragon Tamer Apprentice I can train you to become much stronger." He then tossed the Great Ball towards Darumaka and began to hold his breath. Even Alpha began to grow anxious as it spoke again hoping for the best.
" I am not sure if this will work or not but let's hope for the best here. A new member of the team is always a good thing and you have quite a few more Great Balls if this one fails." Alpha then prepared to take a hit if the worst happened.

As Alpha planned to get hit again and again, he trusted his trainer to the last bit of health he had. But his trainer didn't want to see his friend faint for him. After all, seeing a friend in pain is fun for very few people. But sure enough, Marchbaby had done it he found a Great ball to throw at the trickster Pokemon. As he stood there with the massive grin a face that never really changed. Well Marchbaby managed to do the impossible. The cheeky grin turned into a very displeasing look as the great ball got thrown towards it.
ONE... TWO... THREE... The Darumaka was caught!
Alpha let out a slight sigh of relief but then threw his hand up in the air as cheer before floating over to the Greatball and returned it to March with a big grin on it's face. Alpha was ready to help in the next fight or watch as long as he was near his trainer. A loyal Pokemon indeed. Alpha fought well in battle. Alpha gained 800 exp making them 800/2107 EXP and +1 happiness. Atropos fought well in battle. Atropos gained 800 exp making them 2150/2267 EXP and +1 happiness. After an incredible bout of luck Marchbaby had captured Darumaka without much trouble. Alpha was certainly releaved as confident as it was as it would not have been pleasent to have been burned by the young fire type. Just as everyone but Atropos celebrated the victory a strange sounding cry came from a nearby bush. As they waited to see what would jump out a yellow lizard like Pokemon ran towards them with sparks of electricity flying off of its body. Marchbaby did vaguely recall the Pokemon being sold in the Kalos festival a while back but he could not recall the name of the species however Alpha had no trouble identifying it. After a brief scan Alpha determined that it was a Helioptile a Pokemon native to Kalos.
The cute creature walked towards Alpha stopping a short distance away as it looked into the Metang's blood red eyes. The way the creature looked at Alpha could only mean it wanted to battle. Alpha was feeling pretty energetic after the last battle so it had no trouble fighting again, it was just worried it would hurt the poor thing. " Young one, I must warn you I am stronger than I appear and my strength is not even at full capacity. I will battle you if I must but I fear for your safety." Even with the warning Helioptile would not give up on battling Alpha and the metallic Pokemon had no choice but to comply with its wishes as Alpha took up its position ready for a fight.
" I feel kinda bad about this but I do admire your bravery, just like that Darumaka. I guess you have to be brave living in a city like this when you are so small." Alpha was ready to hold itself back somewhat as Helioptile would be a good Pokemon to capture if it could avoid knocking it out. Marchbaby had similar thoughts as he finally spoke. " I remember seeing these cute things at the Kalos festival a while back, I did not get one back then but now I have a chance. Alpha try not to knock this one out either." As he calmed down enough to focus he took a deep breath and then gave Alpha an attack order.
" Helioptile can resist your steel type moves Alpha so let's try and stay safe here in the first round. Use Metal Claw to weaken Helioptile enough so I can capture it."
OOC: Requesting Helioptile. Marchbaby sends out Alpha and uses Metal Claw.

A wild Helioptile (Lv 16) appeared!
Curiosity about Alpha was what had drawn Helioptile from its path to seeking a sunny path out, having spotted the Metang while passing by. A strange looking Pokemon like that, well, who wouldn't be curious? The little lizard felt more than just that, however, deciding right there and then that it simply had to test out if Alpha was just as strong as it looked. It leapt out with a cry to get their attention, focusing wide-blue eyes on Marchbaby's Metang and nothing else. Sure, it noticed the trainer, and knew what risks demanding a challenge entailed, but it was determined by this point and not to be dissuaded. Thankfully for it, the Metang chose to fight, bringing forth a delighted cry from Helioptile. Sparks flickered out over its body, a clear indicator of its growing excitement.
Possessing just a little more speed, Alpha was the first to move and made its way over to the spunky lizard before it could blink. Mindful of the desire to not knock it out, the Metang displayed a great deal of restraint as it swung one arm towards Helioptile, raking it across the chest. Even holding back, it still hurt, the Electric/Normal type staggering from the hit with a faint squeak. For a moment, it appeared the Helioptile was on the verge of tears, but it shook its head and lashed its tail once, as if to reassure itself. Running away after just one attack was not in the books, especially if it wanted to really fight Alpha.
Rearing up on its hind legs, Helioptile's two frills suddenly stood stiffly on end, flaring out wide. It lent the usually cute reptile a bit of intimidation, but this wasn't the intended effect for what Helioptile was doing. Electricity began surging over its entire body, the frills acting as generators while Helioptile used the bright sun to power itself with a Charge attack. Alpha watched the display with just a smidgen of disappointment, wanting to see more offensive tactics from something that had been so eager to challenge them. But maybe next turn Helioptile could get its chance... maybe.

Metal Claw had done an acceptable job of hurting Helioptile without knocking it out just as it had done with Darumaka. The electric lizard had chosen not to try an offensive move in retaliation though it was hard to tell if it would have made a real difference. Marchbaby would indeed have a chance to capture it though he wanted to given Alpha a chance to analyze the current situation again just to be safe. Helioptile seemed to be even less dangerous than Darumaka as even it had caused a tiny bit of damage before being captured by him. " Alpha just as you did before analyze our friend here and see if there is something we should be worried about."
Alpha scanned every inch of Helioptile but outside of charge boosting its special defense, there was nothing too worrying about it. " My scans show its special defense is boosted a bit by its charge but nothing else worrying at the moment. My first Metal Claw did considerable damage to it but I think a second will knock it out. If you decide to attack again there is a very good chance you will knock it out. I strongly advise not attacking again if your goal is to capture it." Alpha was a very good Pokemon to have around for tough calls like this and as it was right about Darumaka Marchbaby fully trusted Alpha's advice and decided not to attack.
With capture being the clear choice Marchbaby just had to pick a good time to throw the ball knowing Helioptile had enough energy to still potentially break free. Capturing Darumaka was a stroke of good luck but luck could shift both ways. He did not really have a true option in Pokeballs as his great ball was the only one with a high enough chance of success. Marchbaby started looking through his backpack digging for a great ball when he found one near the top. He pressed the small white button to make it bigger while staring down Helioptile. Having endured Alpha's Metal Claw Helioptile had earned Marchbaby's respect as he took aim at the lizard.
" I admire your guts to stand before Alpha like this, if your whole species is this brave I regret not getting one of your kind sooner. I offer you this chance to join me so I can help you grow stronger. Go great ball capture Helioptile." The ball then flew towards the electric type as Marchbaby hoped to get lucky twice in a row.
OOC: Marchbaby tosses a great ball.

(As always, I'm assuming that you've self-deducted the ball, March.)Marchbaby's compliments seemed to register with the little lizard, and it chirped happily in reply. However, it wasn't going to give up this match so easily. Its skin flaps fanned outward, taking in sunlight while it prepped for its next move. March had other plans, though, throwing his Great Ball out toward Helioptile. The Electric type couldn't do a lot before the ball struck it on the forehead, sucking its target inside and settling down on the grass below. It began to wriggle and writhe around furiously, trying to resist capture as best as Helioptile knew how. Before long, though, it slowed back down to a halt.
Congratulations! Marchbaby has caught the Helioptile! As Helioptile was captured the sun began to set as day turned into night. Marchbaby had been on route 34 for a long time now though his training was far from over. Helioptile was quite a surprising encounter, though as he picked up the great ball containing their new lizard friend a Ponyta walked out of the tall grass right behind the ball giving Marchbaby quite a fright. Ponyta was another uncommon sight and he treasured his recent luck. This was yet another great find that he had to capitalize on. Ponyta could help hatch eggs faster if they had the right ability, and he had plenty of eggs to hatch. Being another fire type this close to the city was just an added bonus. " What is a young filly like yourself doing at this hour? Other trainers could really do some harm to a young thing such as yourself. Either that or force you into being an artificial incubator if they unlock your hidden potential. Either outcome would be awful for such a beautiful equine like yourself." The Ponyta approached him seemingly unafraid despite his cautions and he admired her curiosity. Ponyta were usually brave but this one seemed to have unbound levels of bravery. It was only when Atropos appeared in front of her that she froze in her tracks. Atropos sensed fear in the equine's heart and she took advantage as the fire type remained motionless. " I knew it, you are nothing but a coward at heart. If you were as brave as you acted my appearance would not have phased you at all. You almost had a heart attack and when I am through with you, that shall be the least of your worries." As much as Marchbaby wanted to put Atropos in her place if Ponyta did it she might just learn a bit better. Even if she won if would give Marchbaby a chance to see how brave Ponyta really was. If she proved brave enough he had every intention of capturing her to keep her safe from a far more cruel fate. Marchbaby did not even give an order as Atropos made her way to the young Ponyta. " I know it is a moot point now as I know this is exactly what you are going to do but I will say it anyway. Atropos use Shadow Sneak on that filly. She looks like a good challenge for you."OOC: No I did not but I will right now. Setting the time of day to night so dusk balls will work better and requesting a Ponyta. Atropos uses Shadow Sneak. A wild Ponyta (Level 17) appeared!
Unable to sleep and stricken with a sudden wanderlust, Ponyta happening across March was a stroke of luck - for him. Wary at first, a simmering curiosity that had made her somewhat of an oddity among her kind soon overcame that trepidation to bring her out of the grass and approach. Halfway to him, the unexpected arrival of Atropos froze the equine, brown eyes looking nervously at the ghost. Of course she would have the luck to find a trainer, at this time of night no less, and one with a rather snarky ghostly companion to boot. As the pale Shuppet spoke, Ponyta's ears pressed against its head in clear indignation, one hoof striking the ground in a spike of temper. Insinuating she was a coward simply for not being prepared... it was an insult the fiery horse would not let stand.
Smirking at the reaction, Atropos wasted little time in obeying Marchbaby and hoped the nature of her attack knocked some of the wind from Ponyta's figurative sails. Her shadow, or what could be seen by the light shed from the moon, reached towards her foe and spiked up out of the ground to stab at Ponyta's hooves. Uttering a startled neigh, she danced out of reach and issued a fiery snort once she'd calmed herself down. This ghost wasn't going to be smiling for long if Ponyta had anything to say about it. The flames on her body flared up brilliantly, almost consuming her from view as she readied her attack, the sight of this giving even Atropos pause.
Racing forwards in a streak of flaming scarlet glory, Ponyta cantered easily into Atropos with a Flame Wheel attack, knocking the Shuppet away with a wail of fury and pain. Heat still shimmered off both combatants as Ponyta's fire returned to normal and trotted back to her starting position, looking quite pleased about giving Atropos what for. Grumbling curses under her breath, Atropos half-turned to look at her trainer and see what he planned to do next. Hopefully it involved some painful revenge.

Marchbaby had hoped that Ponyta would do enough damage to Atropos to get her to start showing respect but she was so strong that even the best move Ponyta could muster was not enough to get her to show any respect whatsoever. All the filly's attack had done was strengthen her resolve to a point where death for Ponyta would be an act of Mercy. She had the flaming horse dead to rights with no way for it to escape until Marchbaby intervened. He had no plans to kill the poor thing at all, if anything her display of bravery had earned her his mercy. She still needed more training but he thought she had potential with the right help.
" Atropos stand down, that is an order. Ponyta has had enough. She is pretty brave for such a young Ponyta and I can help her unlock her potential. You may not like this but you are going to spare her." Atropos wanted to argue her case but she knew it was a lost cause to try and push finishing off Ponyta but it did not mean she would not have fun with her. " You can force me to spare her but I will still have my fun one way or another. She might act brave but I know just being around me frightens her. I hope she is good at adapting to her fears as I will be exploiting them every chance I get."
Marchbaby was fine with exploring fear as fear was clearly a factor holding her back. So long as she did not die as a result of her fear he was alright with Atropos having her fun. " Scare her all you wish once we capture her. As I said before just do not kill her and that applies to the direct and indirect causes of fear. So long as you follow that one rule I can live with anything you might be planning." With the limit placed on Atropos he still had to capture the young filly. It was night time which was very helpful in the case of his dusk balls as Ponyta were no slouch at escaping from great balls. He grabbed one of his dusk balls and showed it to the young Ponyta. He wanted to make his intentions known.
" Ponyta I would like you to come with me so I can help you grow stronger. This dusk ball is one of my favorites and I would like to use it to capture you." He then tossed the ball hoping Ponyta would accept his offer.
OOC: Marchbaby tosses a Dusk Ball. As it is still night time the capture bonus will apply.

It was something in the air that made Ponyta lose some of her resolve as she looked resolutely at Atropos, sensing a subtle shift in the Shuppet's feelings towards her. Maybe it was some gleam in the ghost's eyes, or just such a menacing aura exuding from her that Ponyta could pick up on it and feel rightly wary. Fleeing was fast becoming a very attractive option, though the equine doubted being fleet of foot would get her far away from a vengeful, determined Shuppet. And if she did run, it would only serve Atropos more vindictive fuel to lob back and chip away at her fledgling confidence. When Marchbaby began speaking to his Pokemon, however, Ponyta's ears perked slightly - was he calling the ghost off to switch for something else?
If only she could be so lucky, with the intent to capture her meaning she'd be exposed to Atropos at some point or another. Apprehensive, Ponyta watched March finish conversing and turn to face her, holding out a ball in a universal signal any wild Pokemon could understand. While she wasn't keen on the thought of being caught, she stared steadily at the trainer - maybe he'd find a way to make it worth her time to be a companion of his, psychotic Shuppet aside. It was only this thought that held her calm and still as March lobbed the Dusk Ball towards her, the device striking the tip of her snout before rebounding back and drawing her inside. The green ball landed with a thunk, shaking badly enough that it almost seemed the Ponyta would escape, before finally...

Ponyta had been successfully captured and Marchbaby was very happy to have a new fire type to work with. He had never been able to run into a wild one before now but that was no longer a problem. " Ponyta will make quite a fine addition to our team. She might need some training to get her over her fear of Atropos but once she overcomes that fear things will turn out fine. The next matter to attend to is fishing, if Professor Oak's radio show is to be believed there is currently a fresh water version of Tynamo swarming in the waters nearby. They are a rare species in Johto and salt water ones who still live in the water are ultra rare. "He grabbed the old rod in his backpack and made his way over to the waters to get himself a good spot to fish. He had to try and snag a Tynamo for himself before they went away. They would be quite a cool Pokemon to breed and they were an electric type which was an uncommon type for the area. Those two things aside they were really cute and because of that they were a popular Pokemon people wanted to get from a Pokemon eggs. " I think we are in a good spot here, let's try our luck out now." Marchbaby sat on the edge of the water for a few minutes without a bite he was about to give in when a small tug on the line renewed his hopes. He started to reel in the Pokemon on the line and sure enough a Tynamo had decided to appear. Marchbaby could hardly believe his eyes, Tynamo had moved into caves in most regions so the appearance of a fresh water one regardless of the reports or not was astonishing. " Wow such a cute little creature you are, it is true after all that salt water Tynamo exist. I have to battle you to try and capture you. Your species would make for a fantastic breeding program. Marchbaby just had to decide between his Pokemon as he feared knocking the elusive creative out. As he thought things through Alpha emerged in his mind as the best Pokemon for the job all things considered. " Alpha it looks like it is time for another battle. I have not battled a Tynamo before but being an electric type it should not give you too much trouble. Use Bullet Punch to soften it up.OOC: As the 5 page rule applies to both fishing and grass encounters I would like to request a Tynamo so I can try and snag one. Alpha uses Bullet Punch on Tynamo. A wild Tynamo (Level 19) was hooked! Fishing level increased by 1.
Who really knew why Tynamo had migrated to Johto of all places - but so they had, and so they would remain for some time. Despite being an exotic species, there didn't appear to be a mad rush to capture them, perhaps not being quite as popular as other Pokemon. Thus life in the waters outside Goldenrod City was relatively peaceful, until a fishing line plunked into view. Several fish had swarmed up curiously, though none were bold enough to attempt a bite... aside from one small fry. The Tynamo surged past its hesitant kin and chomped down with its odd little mouth, unsuspecting of what lay beyond the surface. Its entire body flashed wildly as it began a rapid ascent on the line, bewildered as it broke free from the water, where it let go and dropped to the ground with a startled squeal.
Able to dwell on land and water both, Tynamo was better off than anything else Marchbaby could have fished up, but the look it directed at him said it wasn't too happy despite the situation at hand being mostly its fault. That look didn't shift when Alpha was sent forth and hovered over to the Electric-type, Tynamo doing its best to look as intimidating. Alpha didn't show it, but the Metang was amused by the spirit of this one. Alpha pulled both arms back, letting them fly forwards at high-speed one after the other to knock Tynamo reeling. Nearly falling back into the water from the force, the eel-like Pokemon wriggled around with an indignant cry, body lighting up in warning.
It hurled itself forwards with gusto, the lighting on its body intensifying into a full-blown electric aura. Despite its size, Tynamo packed a decent punch as it collided with Alpha and landed a critical hit. Rearing back, Alpha seemed to almost brush off the anger-stoked Spark... until March's Metang realized it was tingling all over. Not only had the Electric-type gotten a critical hit, but it had left a gift of paralysis, too. Alpha winced, the sensation uncomfortable for even a Steel-type, reassessing the initial impression gleaned from Tynamo. This one was no pushover, it seemed - good. Something this feisty would prove an excellent specimen to capture.

Sing the small eel try and be intimidating was actually really cute to Marchbaby who honestly did not think the electric type eel would be able to do much to Alpha. After the first round had ended Alpha had suffered both a critical hit and paralysis. Tynamo had taken a bit more damage from the opening blow but even so Alpha was in pretty rough shape. " System error, movement has decreased by 50%. My circuits were fried by that Spark. I should be able to repair the damage after the Battle but until then I cannot guarantee even making a single move. As stunned as Alpha was Marchbaby was even more so.
He had gained a lot of respect for Tynamo and now wanted to capture it more than ever. If it could do that much damage to Alpha already it would be a monster once he managed to raise it. " Alpha you took quite a hit here, we might need to think this one through more before you take anymore damage. I wonder if your Bullet Punch did enough damage for us to capture it with one of my Lure Balls." He said as he started to look through his backpack. If he could find one he could capture the young eel with any luck and then help Alpha restore it's systems functions.
As he looked through the backpack he located one of the Lure Balls he was after, he had not idea if this plan was going to work or not but given Alpha's current condition there was no telling how much worse things could get if he did not end the battle as soon as possible. He still needed Alpha ready in case things got any worse and so he had to make sure it would be in good enough shape to take another hit. " I really hate to ask you this given the shape you are in but I must ask you, Alpha are you able to take another hit for the team if this capture fails? We have been lucky so far but you are in far worse shape then the previous times."
Alpha was still trying to keep itself from rebooting from all the damage it took but after all the hits it had taken so far it felt it could handle one more. " I won't lie my systems are pretty banged up at the moment but my armor should be enough to protect them so long as I do not take another critical hit." Though it was risky Marchbaby decided to take the risk hoping Alpha was correct. " Go Lure Ball capture Tynamo."

Hale and hearty despite being pummeled just a turn prior, Tynamo had somehow managed to achieve what one could almost call a smug expression. While significantly smaller than both Marchbaby and Alpha, it made up for its lack of size with a hint of real personality, something that only endeared it more to the trainer. A Pokemon with some fire in its soul was a siren call, one March seemed glad to give into as he went to capture the uncommonly seen Pokemon. It was a relief for Alpha to not have to worry about paralysis short-circuiting him, or if he accidentally hit Tynamo too hard and lost a golden opportunity to capture it. Tynamo didn't seem too badly hurt from his Bullet Punch, but one couldn't judge based on appearance alone.
Tynamo watched March with unblinking dark eyes, wondering if it was possibly too late to make an escape attempt back into the water. In Unova, it hadn't seen many trainers before, and didn't know what the sight of a ball meant for its future. But if the big blue metal being was backing off, something was awry, and this made the small eel just a bite nervous. Dragged out of the water, forced to endure a not-so-nice punch, and now the human getting involved? Caught up in its thoughts, Tynamo was an easy target for Marchbaby's Lure Ball, the capture device nearly comically larger than the entire Pokemon it was aimed at. Disappearing in a wash of light, Tynamo's dawning realization sent the ball rocking about where it landed on the floor. Unfortunately for it, Lure Balls were a special case...

As his Lure Ball lived up to it's name by luring Tynamo into a state of uncertainty allowing it to be captured Marchbaby could not be happier with the result. This was the 4th Pokemon he had captured in a short time frame and things were really looking up. Tynamo alone would be a great Pokemon to breed due to it's rarity along with the others and Alpha had gained a level despite the paralysis setback. As amazing as his recent luck had been it was only going to keep getting better as a Ditto slithered from the tall grass towards him with a dumbfounded look on it's face. Marchbaby was quite familiar with the species as he used one to help breed his Pokemon so he knew how useful they could be. A friend had asked him to capture one and this would be a great chance for Honeysuckle to act as bait. Once Ditto fell for the trap of transforming into her he could swap out with Atropos and attack with impunity until it was weak enough to capture. It was a pretty simple plan but it worked so well against Honeysuckle when he caught her that it was worth seeing if it would work again. Alpha was still in the process of fully restoring everything anyways so it would not be in the best shape for this battle anyway making his strategy all the more warranted. " Listen up everyone we are going to have to be sneaky in this battle, if Ditto does not do what we hope it will things might not go very well for us. Poor Alpha is still roughed up so until it gets things back in order I would like to try avoiding a battle that involves it's usage. The rest of you guys will have to do for now." He said as Honeysuckle came out of her Pokeball and stepped forward. She did not get many chances to battle so this moment meant quite a bit to her. Once she was in position Marchbaby knew she only had one safe attack to use to try and trick Ditto into falling for his trap. " Honeysuckle we need to use a turn without hurting Ditto so use Counter to give it a chance to do as we hope." Marchbaby was never a very big fan of wasting a perfectly good turn but in this case it was the only option he had at his disposal. OOC: Requesting a Ditto. Marchbaby sends out Honeysuckle who uses Counter to waste a turn. Adding Bolt to March's PC. TynamoName: Bolt Gender: Female Level: 19 Attacks: Tackle, Thunder Wave, Spark, Charge Beam Ability: Levitate Nature/Personality: Bolt is quite a special little Tynamo that called the waters nearby Goldenrod City home. She loves to shock Pokemon for fun and get into fights with those she shocks. She takes advantage of her levitation powers to follow her targets on land while taking advantage of her swimming skills to attack them from the water.
