Off he went. Carefully maneuvering the ragged path littered with berries all over the place with nothing but the stars and moon providing light to guide him, Alex stepped along quietly. It was occasionally difficult to avoid crushing a plump berry under his boot as he continued down the left path. After a little while though there was something much larger laying on the road: a body. Still and silent, clad in dark clothing equipped with a cap and what could be a flashlight nestled among a small pile of berries. If Alex wasn't mistaken the body was of a police officer! The bushes surrounding were trashed. Broken twiggy branches were strewn about with some mix of even thicker ones snapped off of trees. It looked like there had been some sort of scuffle and the officer hadn't come out on top. As Alex continued to approach though the perspective would change. The body stirred, a pained groan moaning into the night as a hand raised and wiped across the policeman's mouth. "Oh man... just stuffed." There was a pause as he sat up, moving his hand to hold his stomach. "That wasn't such a good idea."In the next moment the officer seemed to freeze then suddenly whip his head around to stare up at Alex. "Erm uh-uhm.. N-Nothing to report here, don't worry," he began stammering, putting on a smile. Upon closer inspection it was clear this man had been in a food coma. Berry juice had dried dripping down his face and his pockets were absolutely filled with them. "I was just helping investigate the reports of vandalism. There was something here, I saw it. It was hoarding a ton of berries in its hands but when my flashlight crossed over the path it freaked out and bolted that way." The officer raised a hand and pointed toward the trail of broken vegetation. "I sure hope that farmer is okay, I... Oh god... I'm not in any condition to check up on him. You better be careful to. I'd steer clear of the middle pathway." The stuffed Policeman reports the culprit went somewhere rightward!

As Alex was walking the left path, he felt that there were a lot of berries that he possibly accidentally stepped on because it was too dark to see everything, with the only source of light the moon and the stars. As he walked, he approached a police officer, who seemed to be in a bit of a pain. Well, it turned out to be overeating type of pain. He was quiet as he listened to what the officer had to say at first, before making his own comment.
"Well, uh, officer. I think you're partaking in vandalism as well? With your feast and all? How are you going to tell that grumpy farmer you ate a couple bushes worth of berries?..." Alex replied, lingering on the last thought. "Well, thank you very much for your information!" He added, and walked away, and began pondering what the officer meant by "It"? Does that word meant that, the culprit wasn't identified, it's a Pokemon, a ghost Pokemon, not a ghost Pokemon, or something else now? He folded his arms and began to lost his mind in his thought, and subconsciously went in the middle path. THe only ghost type with hands that he knew would be Gengar and maybe Haunter, but could there be more ghost types? How much berries can they carry with two hands?

Alex searched for the mysterious antagonist that was causing a muck in the Goldenrod outskirts. Where was this villain located? Alex looked for any signs on a Pokemon that looked… out of place? The instructions seemed to be less helpful than the officer had said. There was no Pokemon here, or if there was, it needed to be coaxed out of hiding. Sprinklers were sticking out of the ground, which was obvious to anyone who was walking in this path. Alex should try the other path to see if there was someone who could help him activate them, otherwise there’s no way he can find this Pokemon! (( Sorry for the short reply Tiki! You get the point tho. MOD NOTE: Remember to look up any items that have healed Alex’s Pokemon’s HP in previous posts. Thanks! ))

As he was walking and thinking, he found himself in another path with a lot of sprinklers poking out obviously on the ground. However, it was also too dark for him to see if he was stepping on water or crushed berries' juices. He walked carefully, and tried to look through the bushes for something or someone suspicious hiding in the dark, but Alex was sure he didn't see anyone. With no new clue and nothing left to do, he turned to investigate the last path way (right), hoping to lead to something good. The criminal probably wouldn't have left too far, unless it can fly.

It was no doubt Alex was going to need to give his shoes a good cleaning after this little adventure. After going down the berry laden route with the nearly comatose police officer and wandering through the further wet path lined with sprinklers in pursuit of this mysterious berry culprit, this new path was dusty and dry in comparison; meaning his soles were likely to be caked in sticky-sweet mud by the end of the night. There wasn't much that could be done with it though unless the trainer wanted to back track and try to figure out the sprinkler system.
Before he could get too much down that train of thought though a groan rumbled ahead of him. It was pained, as if someone was just waking up from a nasty knock on the head. As Alex got closer it looked to be a burly man decked out in hiker gear. He was leaned up against a tree with a battered sandslash curled up beside him. Rubbing his head the large man reached to the grass nearby and picked up a gnarled axe. The head was absolutely ruined, shattered and blunted with the haft nearly ripped off.
A reflection of the moonlight glinted Alex's direction and gave the hiker a start, his eyes turning up from his broken weapon to the approaching boy. This forest certainly had its share of characters tonight.
"Turn back! Don't go any further it's... it's the Living Tree..." he grumbled, sitting himself up straighter against the tree trunk as he gave Alex a wave of warning. He dropped his axe and shifted to attend to his wounded pokémon. "Oh Sandslash, I'm sorry boy."
The injured man half turned his head back to Alex, "We were, we heard, rumors of a Living Tree. Some terror through the wood. I... I thought we could help make this place safe again but..." he trailed off as sandslash made a pitiful whimper. The hiker worked through his own pain to move to his knees and begin digging through his pack for medicine. "I had my axe, Sandslash has cut, but it just had no effect. That tree... it's not just some tree, there's something else to it... ... And I just made it angry," he added in a guilty tone.
As if on cue a frightened cry came from left of this rightmost pathway. It sounded like Bernie! The hiker gasped, eyes darting to the darkened brush, but he was in no condition right now to even move let alone investigate.

As he continued to the next path, his shoes were stepping on drier ground this time around. The sound of his soles walking on dry ground in the quiet night was overcame by the sound of a man looking tired. He approached and saw the Hiker, and listened to what he said. He nodded as he listened, something about the living tree, something horrible haunting the woods. He sighed softly and face-palmed his head, as he hoped this wasn't Ilex Forest again. Well, a ghost would certainly be immune to Cut, but there were other Pokemon attributes who would make cut useless. He thanked the hiker for his clues, and wondered what to do next.
After the hiker passed out, Alex heard a cry again from the area, and it seemed to be Bernie, the farmer with the Furret who he had a battle earlier. He got up and turned back around toward the sprinklers area, wondering what on earth was this man being so loud at night. Well, at least he wasn't alone this time like he was in Ilex Forest. The "ghost" have more than one person to haunt.

As Alex made his way quickly to the middle path, thinking it was Bernie that was crying out. Reaching the entrance to the walkway, Alex found that the sprinklers had been turned on. Making it hard for Alex to see through the silvery mist that was createdm the weird looking tree started to dance. First it shuffled to the right to try avoid the water, and the shuffled to the left.
But to much of the trees annoyance, it couldn't get out the way of the spraying water. Finally jumping out the way of the walkway, Alex found him self looking at a very angry wet tree. "SUDOOO!" It roared again in anger. It was easy to tell while it looked like a tree, there was something not right about it. To Sudowoodo's delight the sprinklers turned off just as fast as they turned on. But now he was ready to fight. Hitting his branch like arm against his chest he shouted "Sudo!" as a challenge. Will Alex accept? The blocking Sudowoodo Level 24 wants to battle! Will you fight or flee?(Next mod remember to add the fresh water hp)

As he approached the source of the scream, it turned out to be a walking tree creature-- a Pokemon to be exact. Well, no wonder the Pokemon had been able to wreck havoc in the farm. It would camouflaged like a tree and eat berries when Bernie wasn't looking! On the plus side, this Pokemon certainly wasn't a ghost type Pokemon. Alex sighed a breath of relief and greeted the Pokemon with a smile, and a battle.
"So you're the culprit behind this? I'll take up your challenge then. Come on out, Saurobix, start off with some Razor Leaf!" He grinned and tossed out a Pokeball, sending out his grass type Pokemon. Although the Pokemon had recovered a bit from the battle with the Furret earlier, he didn't have a full recovery of a goodnight sleep yet. However, Alex figured that this grass type would be good enough to finish off this Sudowoodo. The grass type growled and unleashed a flurry of razor sharp leaves from his back.

Sudowoodo had issued it's challenge, rock-solid in its abilities to take down whatever stood in it's path, be it a berry bush or this obnoxious trainer! A scowl seemed permanently plastered to it's face but it would still take delight in taking this trainer down. Bernie shakily stumbed back, making sure to stay out of range of the rocky creature now that it had been irritated to the final straw. "Ya gotta take this ruffian down! Please!" He begged, watching Alex release a Pokemon to battle the unruly stone guardian of the path. Or at least, the stone destructor. Sudowoodo seemed unphased by the Ivysaur before it, and instead, charged forward angrily! Despite it's rocky hard body, it was relatively quick for a tree. Saurobix didn't seem phased by the charging tree and released the razor-sharp leaves from the pod on it's back. They whipped around the body of the grass Pokemon, honing in like tiny, sharp missiles at the Sudowoodo. As soon as they made impact, Sudowoodo made a horrid noise akin to that of the first one when water had touched it's body. Angrily, Sudowoodo raised it's branch-esque arm and slammed it down hard on Saurobix. The attack was fueled by rage, but didn't quite have the effect that Sudowoodo wanted. Bernie watched from the sidelines, in shock and awe at the strength of both Pokemon in the field. If that had been Bernie there instead of Alex, Bernie wouldn't have stood a chance. "Saur...obix! Whatever yer name is, you've got this! Stay strong!" The farmer cheered from the sidelines. The Ivysaur nodded and listened to Alex, sending out yet another Razor Leaf swarm towards Sudowoodo. That had done it. Sudowoodo tried to bat at the leaves, but it's feeble attempts to protect itself were in vain. Sudowoodo dropped to the ground like a stone, literally. Saurobix let out a victory cry and Bernie clasped his hand on Alex's shoulder. "What a battle! You and yer Pokemon sure showed that ruffian!" The farmer walked forward and nudged the Pokemon with the tip of his boot. Sudowoodo awoke, calmly at first but then staggered to the side when it noticed Bernie looming over it. It stumbled to it's feet and ran off, surely taught the lesson Bernie never would've been able to. By scaring it awake, Bernie had established a bit of dominance, thanks to Alex. "Yeh, I don't think it's gonna come 'round here anymore. You've done a great job!" The farmer bent down and stuck his hand in a little hole that Sudowoodo seemed to be protecting, pulling out a TM. "Hmm... that little sucker had been protecting this, even with the sprinklers and you coming by. I dunno what it is, but I reckon you could take it with ya." Bernie handed Alex the little disc, unaware he was handing the trainer an HM. After that, Bernie shoved his hand in his pocket and produced a few berries, also handing those to Alex. "Now if you need anything, you just lemme know, alright? Thank you again for saving these here berry trees and bushes. Now if you'll excuse me, we got some uh, cleaning up to do. Heck, I might make that cop help me.." He trailed off with a chuckle, disappearing into the berry paths once more.
Saurobix defeated Sudowoodo, gaining +1912 experience! Tikikala gained +1 level for the valiant battle! Tikikala is now level 11. Alex receives HM6, Rock Smash! Chesto, Cheri and Aspear berry added as well. - The path to Violet City is clear, as well as Ecruteak.

Alex nodded as the farmer spoke, of course he'll take down that ruffian, especially for making him thinking about his ghostly encounters again. He watched as his grass type unleashed a flurry of razor sharp leaves, slicing the skin of the Sudowoodo and making it shriek sharply in sharp pain. Judging from the attacks, maybe the Razor Leaf did a good one on the Pokemon. It might look tough, but everything has a weakness. He heard Bernie cheered on the sidelines, and Alex casually corrected him what his Pokemon's name was, "It's Saurobix!"
When his Pokemon used another Razor Lead, the Suwoodo was a goner, and unconscious. He thanked the farmer for his gifts, and pocketed the disk and the berries. Those will be certainly be useful later, and he knew what the disk could contain, a move for sure. "You welcome, Bernie! I'm just helping out since your Furret didn't know it was a Sudowoodo. Now I'll have to head back to Pokemon Center to sleep and start a laundry tomorrow." He grinned as he heard about the cop being the one to help clean up. Lastly Alex thanked his Pokemon and petted the ivysaur to thank for his help, and then returned his Pokemon before letting out a yawn and departed back to Pokemon Center.
