If you see me comin' down the street... ... You know it's time to go.
After a stressful battle with Falkner, Terri and Ollin had returned to Violet City Pokémon Center. The local Nurse Joy was one of few people Terri admired. She had been so sympathetic when they'd first arrived to the city. The teenager rested up and spoke to the nurse about her gym battle. "Congratulations! I had a good feeling when you left earlier," Nurse Joy beamed. Terri smiled back as she packed up the last of her things.
A bell sounded as the automatic doors opened. "You'll have to excuse me, Terri," the Nurse said as she walked towards the front desk. "Yeah, 'course. We're just about to head away anyway. Thanks again for everythin'," Terri called after her. "Oh, you won't stay tonight? But it's so late." "We've been restin' up all day. I wanna get movin' now while all the weak trainers are here sleepin'." A few heads turned and glared at the blue-haired girl. "Oh I, I...see! Well, good luck on your adventure. I'm sure there's plenty of excitement to come." Joy replied with a shy laugh, caught a bit off guard. She wanted to convince Terri to stay a bit longer, just for her own safety but after getting to know her since she arrived, she knew there was no point in trying. Besides, she'd probably keep insulting the other new trainers.
Terri quickly waved and made her way out of the Center. Her Pokémon were all fully rested so they'd be ready to do some training. The sky was pitch-black but street lamps and a few scattered lights from houses provided some lighting. Terri passed by the Poké Mart. "Wonder if I need to stock up," she said aloud, taking a quick glance inside her freshly-packed bag. The badge case immediately caught her eye. Terri pulled it out and opened it up, completely distracting her from the original task. The girl continued to walk, without paying much attention to the direction. She closed the badge case and tucked it back inside her bag. "Where the..." Terri looked around. She'd somehow walked into some badly-lit side-street. Something about this place didn't feel too right.

The city streets, though quieted from the daylight hours, still held a buzz and whistle that trailed through the streets. Late night drinkers and parties, and the odd straggler shuffling along, it wasn't near the bustling nightlife of a city like Goldenrod but it certainly was livelier than home. Perhaps it was helped by Violet having the monk's Sprout Tower instead of a gambling district. Regardless, the city was big enough to draw in shady figures. Turning into a thinner street lacking of the evenly spaced streetlamps, Terry found herself surrounded with an odd quiet. The buildings encroached, garbage and discards piled up at their base as she went along the alleyway. At least the darkness allowed one to view the stars above a little better, but the smell was starting to rise as Terry moved on. Something a bit closer would catch her eye before the twinkling sentinels. From an adjacent path a shadowed figure slipped out, reaching to pat her arm as she passed. "Hey you! I saw that shine," a gruff voice followed. The man smelled of boos. A puff of smoke rolled from his lips as his other hand pulled a nearly spent butt from his mouth. He chuckled, "Can't jus' let talent like that go to waste y'know. I imagine all sorts of weaklings have given you one congrats or another, but them's jus' words. How would you like t'really accomplish somethin'?"The man paused to take another draw and step closer, leaning in with a big grin. The big red 'R' on his chest was impossible to miss. "What'd yah say? A shiny button's all well and good but actions speak louder'n words. Join Team Rocket and no one will question your power." A Rocket Grunt has approached and made an interesting proposal! What will Terry do? Go along with this criminal or shove that smoke up his nose?

The teenager retracted a bit as a potentially-dangerous figure made himself known. Her heart rate increased a bit but she was willing to fight if she had to. Before she could get any words out, he presented her with an interesting offer. Unsure of whether or not the guy could be trusted, Terri gripped her bag tightly and glanced around to make sure the two were alone.
With her Pokémon safely inside their Poké Balls, there seemed to be no voice of reason. Terri had heard a lot about Team Rocket since arriving. Their presence in Johto was quite impressive. The name had been thrown around a few times in Hoenn as well but not to the same extent.
Looking the man up and down, he didn't seem like much. He probably wasn't too high up the rankings. But after abandoning her original strategy and taking a risk against Falkner, Terri was in the mood to gamble a bit. Her adventure would be a lot more fun with the benefits of working with an organisation. The possibilities if she made an impression were endless. Finally, the trainer made a decision. "A'right well... let's not draw it out. What do I gotta do?" she spoke hoarsely, retching as she got a taste of stale smoke.

Bob began to chuckle as Terri agreed to his offer. He thought for sure he would be forced to use an aggressive method to convince her to join but the easy way worked for him. After wheezing he began to speak. " Ah my dear your job is not very hard at all. You just have to help me rob a Pokemon Center and then escape with the goods." Taking a deep breath he continued " I have a van we will use to reach to Pokemon Center. Once we are there I will go over the rest of the plan." He then ushered Terri to the back of the van and locked her inside. A moment later the truck began to move at a high rate of speed. All seemed well for the longest of time until Bob nearly passed out from the years of smoking catching up with him. By the time he was able to focus the truck had already slammed through the front doors of the Pokemon Center. It did not take long before sirens were heard in the distance as a silent alarm was tripped by the sound of the doors being rammed. " Damn a Slowpoke the cops will be here any minute. We need to grab the goods from the Pathology department and get out before this place gets swarmed. Follow me and be quick." As Bob and Terri ran down the halls they located the Pathology department and found the goods they had come for. As they made their way back to the van however two police officers stopped them dead in their tracks. " FREEZE DIRTBAGS DO NOT MOVE." said one of the officers while the other tried to radio for backup. " Ah bugger all the fuzz will not let us walk out and I will not go to jail. Help me beat these coppers so we can get out of here." Bob said as the battle was about to begin.

If you see me comin' down the street... ... You know it's time to go.
Terri scoffed as Bob revealed the plan. She was already having second thoughts. Hopefully she wouldn't be seeing too much of this guy. Before even getting the chance to speak, the teenager found herself locked in the back of a truck. "Yo buddy, should you even be drivin'?" Terri shouted as the grunt took off. She waited for a response but heard nothing back. Steadying herself, she leaned back against a corner while she waited for the next phase.
"No." The girl gasped suddenly as she repeated the plan to herself. The plan was to break into the Violet City Pokémon Center. Could she really bring herself to do that after everything Nurse Joy had done for her? For once, Terri really felt morally conflicted. She groaned and clenched her fists. "You gotta make sacrifices to get to the top," she reminded herself. If she was going through with this, she would need some sort of disguise.
Terri reached forward and picked up a dusty black hoodie that was in the van. Maybe it belonged to Bob. She shook off a layer of dust. "Ugh, gross!" the girl whispered, getting a whiff of sweat and cheap deodorant. She quickly stuffed her beret into her bag and pulled the hoodie on over her sweater. She pushed back her hair and pulled the hood up. There was nothing else she could do at this point. It was time to focus on her mission.
She felt a small adrenaline rush as the alarms went off. Seconds later, Bob opened the door of the truck and ushered for her to follow him. She followed closely, making sure to keep her head down in case she ran into the nurse. Within minutes, Bob had located the goods. "More impressive than I thought," Terri admitted, hoisting a bag over her shoulder and heading back towards the truck.
The officer's voice startled her. She gulped and turned to Bob for advise. Agreeing that she wasn't getting caught for this, Terri followed the grunt's lead. She reached for Ollin's Poké Ball but accidentally picked up Tiago's instead. There was no time to think about it so Terri threw the Poké Ball. She'd bought the Corphish from a thief a while back but she hadn't used it in battle yet. Hopefully the water-type was used to being in situations like this. Luckily, Corphish was a Pokémon native to Hoenn so she knew its move set. "Let's go! Use Bubble Beam!"

"I SAID FREEZE! Hands in the air!" the cop repeated, noticing that Bob had started talking to his partner in crime. "Alright, alright..." Bob said calmly, smirking. He pulled a Pokéball from his belt, tossing it out and raising his hands mockingly. "Will this do, officer?" A Zubat tore out of its spherical prison, flapping its wings rapidly and waiting for an order. The cop sighed and produced a ball of his own. "Growlithe, go!" The small, orange canine appeared in a flash of light, snarling at the Rocket Grunt's Growlithe. The policeman's partner followed suit, releasing a Hoothoot into the battlefield. Terri's selection, Tiago the Corphish, came out last and snapped his pincers readily. "A Water type, eh? This'll go smoothly then. I knew I was right to trust you. Let's get started, partner." Zubat screeched in response, not realising that its trainer was talking to the Rocket-in-training. "Growlithe, Bite! the first copper called out, a stern and determined expression on his face. He wasn't about to let these criminals leave without cuffs. Growlithe grunted its approval and darted forward, baring its teeth. Tiago lowered one of his claws, trying to take aim for a Bubblebeam, but before he could acquire his target it had already chomped down hard on his arm. Tiago cringed, the force of the dog's fangs almost breaching his exoskeleton already. While its teammate was struggling with Growlithe, Zubat flew past the pair with its eyes set on Hoothoot. The Poison type bit Hoothoot's wing, eliciting a screech from its fellow Flying type. Tiago shook off his oppressor in the meantime and prepared to counter-attack. However, just as he was about to fire, he flinched. The pain from the Bite was coming back again, and he simply couldn't focus enough to attack yet. Fortunately, he wasn't the only one struggling with their order. "Hoothoot, Hypnosis!" was the call, but Hoothoot was similarly incapacitated from agony. The second officer grimaced, realising that it probably wouldn't be long before Corphish dealt with his partner's Growlithe. The battle was young, but it was not looking good for the law enforcers. Bob's reaction to the police officers was somewhat reassuring. He was treating the situation as a minor inconvenience or even a joke more so than a serious matter. Terri smirked and fixed her hood, then folded her arms awkwardly. As much fun as it looked to antagonise the officers, she couldn't get as comfortable as her partner. She was expecting Nurse Joy to enter the room and at confront her any minute.
Bob commended Terri's choice of Pokémon. It hadn't even occurred to her that Police Officers often trained Growlithe but it was something she would keep in mind. She'd try to make this battle quick. The officers had arrived in such short notice. If they sent for back up, things could get tricky.
Tiago's first move was a total disaster. Terri slapped her face but bit her tongue. She didn't want to say too much. Her voice could easily be recognised, especially when she had such a loud personality. "Try again, Bubble Beam!" the teenager ordered. The Corphish nodded and glanced around carefully. He was really fidgety, much like his trainer.

The officers stayed guarded, quite aware of the inconvenient type match up, but it was their duty to continue. Growlithe barked ferociously at the criminals. Teeth bared as she snarled, short muzzle wrinkled back to let her pearly white shine along with her prominent claws. Officer Jake's canine displayed enough boldness for the both of them. "Call back your pokémon and relinquish the goods and maybe we'll lighten your charges, Rocket," the first officer growled. His face was skewed with disgust at the mere sight of the blaring red R emblazoned on the older felon's chest. Bob responded, slightly puffing out his chest as a show of pride in his colors. "C'mon now old dog, you know stripes just don't do anything for my figure," he chuckled to himself, tongue momentarily licking the side of his lips with his teeth following up in a light scratch as if sating an itch. Now wasn't the time for a smoke though. "Fine work Zubat, now how 'bout we give 'em a run for their paycheck. Supersonic on Hoothoot."Officer Dan looked to be a bit younger than Jake; less experienced. If that wasn't already obvious by his lack of a trained growlithe to call upon. The greenhorn clenched his fists as he rapidly considered the best course of action against their foes, but Jake was first to act. "Quick Growlithe, use Ember on Zubat!" He then tore his eyes away from Bob & Terry to regard his partner, "We just need to focus down one and then team up on the last one. Get the higher Rocket out of the way and then see if we can't do better with the recruit." Dan gave a nod in response then gave orders for his Hoothoot to Peck Bob's Zubat. Growlithe was already fired up, so she wasted no time in finding the energy to roll some fire up in her maw and cough it up on the fluttering bat. Zubat screeched angrily as the flames licked away at his soft skin. Despite the fire scorching him though, the flying pokémon raised his voice a second time; this time with more focus. An ear splitting shriek raked the area as an aerial distortion bubbled its way toward Hoothoot. The owl saw it coming well in advance and hopped to the side, changing the leg on which he balanced. With the flurry of battle going on between the other three Tiago was left free to do as he pleased, which meant easy pickings of whichever distracted opponent. Terry hadn't given him a specific target so he made his own judgement. It wasn't hard. Even if Growlithe didn't have a weakness to the watery attack she wasn't currently being blasted at which made her a safe target. The canine's eyes still focused on Zubat she failed to catch sight of the oncoming stream of bubbles until it was too late. An agonized howl rang throughout the room as she was bombarded with Tiago's attack, stumbling back with the force. After it was over she quivered, struggling to stay standing with every fiber of her being but... it wasn't enough. She collapsed to the ground to Officer Jake's dismay. Bob clapped loudly and gave a hoot, complimenting his new partner on a job well done. Hoothoot's big red eyes flashed with rage at the joyous response to its friend's pain and launched himself forward. In a rapid flutter of tiny wings the owl was upon Zubat in seconds, then the next moment the bat would find a beak delving its pointed end into his skull. "Ain't lookin' too good for you now boys. Why don't you just run along and let us finish our business?""You can't possibly want to associate with a slime ball like that, do yah?" Office Dan suddenly cried out, concerned eyes falling on the hidden face of the young girl. Dan's Hoothoot | LV 15 | Insomnia HP: 82% (39/47) Status: Normal Used Peck on Zubat! If you see me comin' down the street... ... You know it's time to go.
Terri had been so distracted, expecting the nurse to catch her at any moment, that she'd forgotten to specify which opponent her Corphish should target. Fortunately for her, the water-type used its common sense and knocked out Jake's Growlithe. The stronger of the two had been beaten now so the chances of getting away were pretty high.
The girl adjusted her hood again, making sure it covered as much of her face as possible. She readied herself to take off, assuming this Hoothoot would be knocked out after the next round of attacks. "You can't possibly want to associate with a slime ball like that, do yah?" Dan's question startled her slightly. "Oh please, gimme some credit. I ain't buyin' into that crap, buddy," Terri hissed in response. "I'm here for my own reasons. Now if you'll excuse us, we gotta blast," the teenager smirked.
Tiago still seemed very restless. The Corphish also wanted to get out of this place, evident by its constant pacing back and forth. "One more Bubble Beam, Tiago. Let's wrap this up so these officers can clean up the mess." With Bob's help, taking out Dan's Hoothoot would be a piece of cake. She was finally feeling a bit more confident about this trial.

Kids these days, so distrusting. Or rather, trusting of the wrong people. Dan looked disheartened from the young trainer's reply, shuddering herself even further under the dark of the hoody. The officer quietly hmph'd to himself as sweat began to bead at his temples. The younger officer adjusted his cap nervously, eyes flitting between the full fledged criminal and Terry. Jake, however, was still as adamant as ever to try and defend the Poké Centre. "The only place you're going is juvy young lady, and you..." he seethed, pausing but a moment to lock eyes with the Rocket member. "I bet we'd find a long rap sheet for you."Bob just laughed, his zubat cackling away alongside the dark clad villain. "Tough words for someone with nothin' but an unconscious pup. C'mon Zubat, let's wrap this thing up and vamoose. Bite that bird." Dan perked, mild still whirling with how to 1v2 this thing. In partly a sputter his orders came out, "Hoothoot, take that corphish out of the fight with a Hypnosis." If he could just manage that he was sure his bird pokémon would be able to finish off the bat, then maybe the Rocket would bail out early and discourage the young lady from ruining her life. Zubat chirped its approach, homing in on Hoothoot and biting into that round feathery body. Despite Growlithe having been downed she was still providing aid though, as her intimidating stature at the beginning of the battle had left an impression on the bat; moving the poison type off mark as he remembered those burning eyes. But just as Hoothoot shook off the weakened bite from Zubat he was bombarded with a wave of explosive oily bubbles. They coated the bird's body, dampening his feathers to an uncomfortable extent, but not wet enough to hinder his movements. Not that the avian needed to move in order to follow through with its own attack. Hoothoot glared back at Tiago with those huge unsettling oval eyes. They were hard to ignore. Tiago had caught the long look, about to glare back when he noticed just how wide open and steady the Hoothoot's stare was. Just in the nick of time the corphish realized what was about to happen and diverted his gaze, raising a claw for good measure. The hypnotic waves that burst from Hoothoot harmlessly rang by. Dan laughed again, digging into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette. He didn't light it straight away, fidgeting with the butt between his fingers. If you see me comin' down the street... ... You know it's time to go.
By now, the officers just seemed pathetic. Jake's Growlithe was out cold and yet he was still talking. Did he really believe that lecturing them would change their minds? Terri kept her eyes peeled, in case he was stalling while they called for backup.
Admittedly, she had underestimated the Hoothoot a little but it would hardly make a difference as it was just a matter of time until they won the battle. "Juvy? And who's gonna take me there? 'Cause you ain't lookin' too sharp in this situation, buddy," the girl smirked. She turned to her shifty looking Corphish. "Caaawww!" Tiago had had enough of this nonsense. Terri didn't even have to say it. The water-type locked target on the owl and aimed another Bubble Beam. "You know what to do, Tiago," Terri called out, approving of the attack.
"Let's finish this and move." She turned to her partner as he fidgeted with a cigarette. He still seemed at ease with the situation. Hopefully the rest of the plan would go just as smoothly.

All of their attempts to dissuade the hooded youth from continuing to aid the gang member were unsuccessful. Not too much of a surprise. Team Rocket knew how to pick 'em, something the Officer Dan was beginning to learn in his short time so far on active duty. The older officer growled back at Bob, just as a quiet static sounded from one of his pockets. "You're not going to get away with this Rocket." It was all he could thing to say just off the top of his head, trying to cover for the notice radioing in on his comm. Meanwhile, Tiago was ensuring Terry & Bob's victory over the badges. Hoothoot didn't have the reserves to last through another onslaught of popping bubbles. It cooed pathetically its last breath as the owl toppled over at Officer Dan's feet. His partner's voice piped up, snapping the green horn's attention away from the fallen pokémon. "Come on Dan, go around that way!" Jake pointed as he made to set off another way, the officer determined not to let the criminals escape. Dan hesitated, Jake noticing and darkening his visage to get the command across more forcefully. But the second delay was all the Rocket member needed. A smoke bomb burst at the two police officer's feat, enveloping them in a massive cloud of thick smoke. "Hahah, go at 'em Zubat. In'n out," he laughed, slipping the cigarette into his mouth and spinning around, giving a wave to Terry. "C'mon girl, it's time to slip away with our goods." Bob ran for the driver's seat of the truck, not even looking back to see if she followed. His zubat dove into the billowing smoke and a moment later emerged with a wallet. It was ajar, and as the poison type zipped toward the truck a few bills dropped in front of Terry. VICTORY!
Tiago grew to LV 21! Zubat robbed Officer Jake & dropped £300 for Terry! Get in the van with Bob to escape before reinforcements arrive!

They were almost out. The teenager pulled her hood over face again. As the smoke bomb clouded the room, she was certain that she was getting away with this. Nurse Joy was still nowhere to be seen. The guilt she'd felt initially had almost vanished, instead replaced with a slight giddiness brought on from the rush of adrenaline.
"A'right, I'm followin'. Lead the way, buddy," Terri replied to the Rocket. She reached for Tiago's Poké Ball and recalled the water-type. "Nice one," she praised, before quickly jogging after her accomplice. As she reached the truck, Zubat dropped her some cash it had stolen from one of the cops. "A girl could get used to this," she cackled, shoving it into her back pocket.
As Bob got into the driver's seat, she climbed into the back once again, slamming the doors shut behind her. She crawled over and gripped onto the back of Bob's seat. "We're good to go. Get us outta here!" she announced, slightly out of breath.
It hadn't taken her long to warm up to the grunt. Despite his grimy appearance and habits, he seemed a lot more intelligent than she'd initially thought. And he'd even dropped her a few bucks for helping out. After her mission, the teenager was sure that this was the path she wanted to go down.

The screech of tires and fumes of rubber were Terri's reply. Engine roaring down the street the last sight of the crime scene Terri would see were the two officer's stumbling onto the road, hands covering their faces as the coughed profusely. It was as clean a getaway as they could achieve. The Rocket Grunt slowed the van to reasonable speeds after a few corners so as to not draw any further unwanted attention. The vehicle turned into a alley and dipped into a loading dock, the door sliding open to welcome them in. Once the van was safely inside and concealed the Rocket jumped out of the seat and lit up. "Smooth sailin'," he whistled, pocketing the lighter and walking up to Terri with praise. "S'been a while since I had such a competent partner. We could definitely use someone like you, you just got a knack for this."Bob slipped a hand from another back pocket and withdrew two objects: a bright pink tail tip and an ebony card emblazoned with a thick red R. He offered the pair of things to the girl, big smirk on his face as he let the cigarette sit between his lips. "If you ever get that itch to do something again make a visit to the address on the card. And this tail? Consider it a bonus. It's worth a nugget to the right people." After he was relieved of the items he turned away and took a long draw. "Look forward to seeing you again girl." MISSION SUCCESS! Bob gave Terri a Slowpoke Tail & an in at Team Rocket!

Terri grinned as she was officially presented with an invitation to join Team Rocket. Finally she had a clear goal. After such a successful first mission and approval from her partner, the teenager was certain that she had the potential for great things.
"Ehh, thanks." She accepted the tail from Bob and although she it wasn't the most glamorous gift, it was nice to have something to mark the occasion."Better get set up then, I guess. See you around buddy!" she announced, patting Bob on the back and strutting off.
Now Terri would have to plan the route to her next destination. After committing a serious crime, she would have to behave more stealthily and keep a low profile. She would have to get out of Violet City immediately since the Pokémon Center was a no-go now. Things would be a bit rough starting off but soon it would all be worth it.
