Deciding she'd analyzed enough of the Pokemon on Route 29, Sebastene had made her way to Cherrygrove City. Renting a room from the Pokemon Center, she'd happily spent the night, enjoying a warm, non soup meal and a hot shower. Her Pokemon had enjoyed it as well, after she'd switched out Pavo for a newbie her boss had sent her way. A fire-type was a welcome addition, as most of her team to that point had been grass or normal types.
Thankfully it was Spring, so the next day it had cooled significantly to a comfortable temperature. Although the usually-workbound girl preferred to work inside, as alluded to by her pale skin, it felt good enough that she had instead taken her purchased meal outside, sitting in the alley next to the Pokemon Center. Crossing her legs, she set up her laptop and began to type up her report, occasionally taking bites from the omelet sitting on the plate next to her.
The young Torkoal sat beside her, and she dug through her backpack between bites, offering her three Rare Candies. The tortoise happily accepted them, eating from her hand.

Cherrygrove City. The first city that a new traveller would see after leaving the beginner's hub that is New Bark Town, and its ambience was quite suitable. It was always a calm, welcoming place; just the kind of city that would encourage a new trainer on their journey. Cherrygrove had a reputation for having some of the most beautiful plant life this side of Johto, and it wasn't disappointing this time around either. The wonderful summery weather perfectly complimented the various floral displays that would have greeted Ten as she made her way into the city. In fact, Cherrygrove had recently been the victim of a powerful heat wave, but this had died down by the time Ten settled herself into the area. What remained was an incredibly warm, if somewhat sticky, summer's day. Still, perhaps this didn't bother the young scientist-type as she sat down in the alley with her food. Food. What a delicious smell indeed. The streets of Cherrygrove were home to a few rather greedy Pokémon, but none were quite so greedy as the young Meowth that had started to pick up on that scent nearby. It lifted its head and sniffed excitedly. Yes, that definitely smelled like food. Delicious human food, in fact, and it was very close. Perhaps it'd be able to con another one into giving it a bite or two. The feline roughed up its fur a little, making it look shaggy and unkempt, before walking slowly toward the pleasant smell that was wafting through this alleyway. As it turned a corner toward the Pokémon Centre, it finally saw its target. A beautiful-looking omelette, just lying there and waiting to be taken. Unfortunately, there was a human in the way. A human with her attentions firmly fixed on the screen in front of her. This would perhaps be easier than the Normal type had anticipated. Meowth slinked up to Ten slowly but surely. It decided that there was an easier way to get the food than trying to ask for it. Once it was within a few feet, it ran toward the omelette, mouth wide open and drooling all over the place.
A rather hungry-looking Meowth is charging after Ten's lunch! Will Ten fight or take the omelette and run? (True story: I got all excited over rolling an Uncommon then realised that you were in the City Streets so I can't spawn a Sunkern. Poo poo to you, Wolfy. Also, May is summer here for some reason, not spring. :P)

While Ten may not have been paying attention, too absorbed in her work to pay any more attention than was required to not burn her hand on her Torkoal or the omelet, Noid was. Having finished eating the power-raising Candies, the tortoise was laying at Sebastene's side, uncharacteristically acting fairly low energy. While others of her breed may lay about all day, the fire-type acted more her type than her breed: hot-tempered and high energy. Part of it may have been the gross, muggy day, the dampness bringing her energy down. She kept pumping out more and more steam, attempting to heat up the area, much to her trainer's chagrin.
Sebastene was too absorbed in her work to notice the mangy Meowth, but Noid was not. Spotting the scruffy-looking feline, she blew twin flames from her nose, lumbering to her feet, and attracting the trainer's attention. She quickly scooped up the laptop and the omelet and stood, tucking the folded laptop into the crook of her arm. “I would have happily-” but the trainer hadn't even finished speaking before Noid rushed forward faster than she appeared to be capable of.
“That's not your food, you mangy rat!” Without waiting for Sebastene's orders, she blew smoke again, and charged forward, launching burning Embers in an attempt to stop the stray in its tracks.

Taken aback by Noid's savage sentence, Meowth staggered a few steps instead of continuing to charge forward so it didn't barrel into the angry turtle. Smoke billowed from the Torkoal and Meowth rubbed it's nose ruefully. Yuck! What an ugly smell! All Meowth wanted was part of the omelette, and yet here this stupid turtle stood. The trainer even seemed willing to share but the battle had already unfolded. What an aggressive little territorial turtle! Meowth seemed surprised that Noid was shuffling towards it rather quickly, but all in all it was still just a little Torkoal. And judging by the fires from it's nose, probably not all that old of one. Meowth unsheathed it's claws and narrowed it's eyes. Fine. It wanted to battle for the food? It would be like taking an omelette from a baby. Noid was preparing to unleash some fiery embers towards Meowth, but given age and speed... Meowth was much faster. The feline sized up Noid before enacting it's plan and jumping into the air over Noid. In the time it took the turtle to turn her head and look back at Meowth, the cat had already nimbly dashed to the side, raking it's claws down the hard shell of the Torkoal. Despite there being a decent defensive quality to the shell, that still HURT! Rage no doubt fueled further at this point, Noid released a few blazing embers that managed to hit the Meowth square on the side. They hurt and caused the cat to gasp, but all in all, Meowth was fine. The cat stared down Noid, and then the omelette. It might win the prize after all! Ten frowned at Noid as the Torkoal rushed into combat, and tugged out her tablet. Observing the duo exchange attacks, she quickly opened up Noid's profile and added: more hot-headed than most her species; acts like a high-power fire-type. Quick on her feet, more so than most Torkoals, before turning on the built-in camera and beginning to record the fight. Opponent seems, angry, confident, hungry.
Noid, having launched her attack and received one in return, blew a plume of smoke from her shell and her nose, flaring flames from the holes in her shell. “C'mon, give me an order!”
Sebastene looked over the two appreciatively, before nodding at Noid. “Try another Ember.” She shifted the tablet to catch the move, hoping to analyze its power later. She didn't have a lab to test it in, so she'd have to do so on the field, unfortunately.
The Torkoal grinned and growled, flaring flames from her shell before launching more Embers at the thieving feline.

The thought of the tasty omelette still lingered in Meowth's head as the two Pokemon readied themselves for another clash. Meowth was still a bit peeved from the last ember it had taken but overall it was in good shape all things considered. It was a higher level than its foe and it could easily toy with Noid a bit but the omelette was calling its name. The cat wanted to end the battle quickly and so it decided to keep up the attack trying to wear the fiery tortoise out. Meowth extended its claws and scratched her face before stopping to take another good look at its future meal. During this time Noid made her move. She stepped forward and fired an ember at Meowth who was too busy focusing on food to notice the oncoming attack. The ember landed right on Meowth's tail as it began running around trying to stop the burning sensation. A slight gust of wind combined with its speed finally put out the flame narrowly avoiding a burn. Meowth was really angry now as it tried to comfort its wounded tail while also still trying to snatch the omelette it more than felt it had earned by now. Noid still definitely in front of the omelette however refusing to let Meowth catch a break even if she was growing exhausted. Meowth could sense her low energy and had no reason to hold back in the next round. Now with two rounds in the books it was only a matter of time before the next clash but Sebastene could still choose another option if she was not confident in Noid's ability to handle another round. Noid laughed cockily as the Meowth ran about, attempting to put out the flames, only to be sorely disappointed when the wind wicked it out. The turtle's attention was drawn back to her trainer as Sebastene's watch began to beep, alerting her to the Torkoal's low health.
Sebastene frowned, and hit the button on the side of her watch to silence it. She eyed Noid, for nodded and pulling out the fire-types' Poke Ball. “Aw, but I was having fun!-” she complained, as the light drew her in. The scientist drew another Poke Ball from her belt, before releasing a Rattata.
The rat growled and chattered, bounding forward to stand in front of the stray Meowth. “Let's go, furball!” Here was his chance to prove himself to Ten! Sebastene flicked through his information, glancing through his attacks, before calling out, “Norve, use Quick Attack! Let's see how well you hold up against a Meowth.”

The Meowth's belly rumbled softly as it stared at the omelette again. It wouldn't be long now... that tasty morsel would be in its grasp in just a few moments. After all, this big tortoise thing seemed to be more or less out of steam. Figuratively speaking, of course; the Torkoal had plenty of literal steam left in her. But this Fire type didn't have long left, and her trainer seemed to recognise this. As Ten recalled Noid, Meowth started to creep closer, wondering if this was the human accepting defeat. No such luck, though. Typical, Meowth began to think, seeing the scientist pull out a second Pokéball. Out burst a little Rattata, baring its fangs as they usually did. Hmph. Well, this one would have to fall too. The omelette was waiting. Meowth took the brief pause in proceedings to make the first move, quickly running toward Norve with its claws extended again. Norve stood firm, though he really had no choice with the short reaction window that Meowth was offering him. The feline quickly slashed Norve's face, leaving quite the stinging sensation on the Rattata. Jumping backward and licking its paw clean, Meowth looked quite proud of itself. This Rattata didn't look much of a challenge to it. It was on a high now, and it was hard not to notice this. It purred softly, waiting for the counterblow. However, Norve could do quick too, and he did just that. The rat shot his whole weight into his fellow Normal type, visibly knocking the wind out of Meowth as he buried his face into its matted white fur. Meowth stumbled back a couple of paces, rubbing its stomach as it tried to recover. Alright, so this little one had some fight. Perhaps it was time to remove some of that spunk. Meowth growled as loudly and as fearsomely as it could. Surely this noise would demoralise anything. Unfortunately, the Growl was more of a cute mewling. Still, Norve backed down slightly, more through pity than anything else. Meowth certainly wasn't making the best account of itself with that sound, even if it was fighting well enough. Wild Battle

Ten frowned at the sound of the Meowth's stomach grumbling loudly, and decided to throw it a bone. She crumbled off the corner of the omelet and tossed it at the Meowth's feet. It's not like it would harm either of them, the omelet didn't have anything in it that could upset a Pokemon's stomach.
Norve quickly proved himself a good battler, charging forward and landing a strong hit on the cat Pokemon. In retaliation, the Meowth scratched the Rattata, before making a pitiful Growling sound. The Meowth seemed to be in a bad way, fur scraggly, and clinging to a thin form, the Pokemon appearing rather weak. She decided to catch it; even if she didn't keep it, which she planned to, she could turn it over to her boss for Rescue & Rehabilitation.
“Norve!” Sebastene called, pulling out an unoccupied Poke Ball from her bag. “Step out of the way!” She hit the button on the Poke Ball, making it grow to full size, before lobbing it at the stray Meowth.
“But I was just getting started!” Norve complained, but he complied, scrambling over to Ten's heels. He gnashed his teeth, ready to attack again if the Meowth escaped the Poke Ball.

The effects of hunger were starting to take their toll on the wild cat pokemon as Meowth's attention was fixated to what the human was in the process of doing. Suddenly the bright haired young lady tossed a portion of her omelette towards the wild Meowth, much to the feline'e delight. The wild Meowth rushed to retrieve the morsel of food, in the meantime Ten had taken the opportunity to retrieve an empty pokeball and had lobbed it directly towards the wild Meowth. The wild cat pokemon had been so busy savouring the taste of the portion of the omelette that it was completely unaware of the incoming capture device, the Meowth was unable to react in time as the red and white spherical device consumed the feline. Ten's pokeball fell to the ground with Meowth inside as it teetered left and right, once, twice, a third time before finally pausing, the circle button on the middle of the pokeball stopped glowing, this was the signal of a successful capture.

Sebastene smiled as she watched the Poke Ball sway, button flashing. It swayed once, twice, three times, and 'dinged'. Her tablet made a noise in her satchel, and she pulled it out, quickly entering in the Meowth's information. She set the gear to swap out Strider for the Meowth, and put Noid back in her Poke Ball.
The scientist quickly saved the battle footage, labeling it to be edited later, and e-mailed it to herself. She picked up the Poke Ball, putting it with the others, and began to wander Cherrygrove City again, wanting to study the Pokemon Population.

As Sebastene contined exploring the streets of Cherrygrove City a thick fog began rolling in making it hard to see anything in front of her. It was not very good weather for anyone in the area but as luck would have it the weather would give a nearby Pokemon a chance to get close to Sebastene without her being able to notice. It slithered across the ground slowly taking great care to make minimal noise until it was able to lure the scientist into a trap. The slender Pokemon was quite predatory in nature so stalking it's nrey was just another typical day. Humans were not it's primary meal but it was not against the idea of giving it a try. As the purple Pokemon got within a few feet of Sebastene it clipped a rake propped up against a building not only alerting her to it's presence but to make things just a bit worse the rake cracked the poor Pokemon in the head. The Ekans hissed as it's knew there was no way to talk itself out of this situation. A scientist would have a field day observing it's behavior and after trying to sneak up on her Ekans would probably be seen as a potential threat. Even with all of that in mind the snake Pokemon was optimistic about the outcome. The venom in it's fangs couldnbring Sebastene down in a single bite and the same with her Pokemon if she tried to fight back and if she did not she would still be easy prey for it to capture. The major problem with it's whole idea was that Sebastene had more than one Pokemon. Had it known that Ekans might have slithered off when it had the chance. A wild Ekans( Level 7) appeared! Please select a Pokemon.

Sebastene was lost in thought, her head buried in her tablet. She was watching and rewatching her battles so far, saving small clips and making notes. Even though she had only passed through one town, she had learned so much fascinating information! And she had such a wonderful team, all teeming with potential data.
CRASH!
The scientist jumped, nearly dropping her tablet as a rake went crashing to the ground. Her head snapped up, seeing a rake fall and hit an Ekans on the head. Her heart began to pound - if the rake hadn't fallen, that Ekans might have eaten her. Her golden eyes steeled with reserve - if it was a man-eater, she needed it on her team; to study, of course!
Stepping back to get some safe distance between her and the reptile, Sebastene picked up a Poke Ball. The Pokemon released was very new to her team: her Meowth, Felidae. The Meowth mrowed, before seeing the Ekans. The scrappy feline hissed, arching its back and bristling its mangy fur. Sebastene nodded at the terrified cat, and ordered him, "Felidae! Use Bite!"

Ekans had hoped that the fog was done messing with it as the battle began. Itnwas bad enough tonhave reduced vision but to have your sneak attack plans go up in smoke was even worse. The fog did effect both Pokemon equally so it was not all bad news for the snake Pokemon but it still had to try and find a way to make up for it's initial blunder. Ekans was not particularly fast so it knew that Felidae was going to strike first no matter what it did but it could still try to set up an ambush taking advantage of the fog. As Felidae made his move the snake coiled up next to a building hoping the catnwould lose track of it in the fog but it was dead wrong. Felidae had been trackingnit the whole time and he bit down on the snakes tail with all his might. The wounded snake hissed loudly as the cat refused to release it's tail. The pain was unimaginable but Ekans had somehow avoided flinching from the attack and it was going to make the cat suffer. It had just the move for it as well as it opened it's mouth to fire a bunch of poison filled needles at Felidae. The cat Pokemon was pretty tough but as a bunch of needles landed right in his face he opened his mouth and hissed at the snake while releasing his grip. It was not the outcome he wanted but he had proven a point to the snake and Ekans would not forget the harsh lesson it had learned. Even as thenfog contiued to grow thicker however Ekans still refused to give in as it tried to keep track of both Sebastene and Felidae. It was not easynin this fog and if Felidae managed to get the jump on it again itnwould be in a lot of trouble. The posion type Pokemon was running out of room for error as it looked around hoping the fog would lift enough for it to find something tonaid it in this tough battle. Ten frowned, and adjusted her glasses. The fog was steaming up the lenses, making it hard for her to see. She hoped Felidae, the Meowth having better eyesight in the darkness, would be able to see better, but she didn't know. The scientist instantly made a mental note to look into it - she needed to know everything about her team. She instinctively reached for her camera, to record the battle, before remembering that she'd yet to purchase a fog-proof lens. Another mental note, buy one as soon as possible.
The red-headed trainer smirked as Felidae sank his teeth into the Ekans' tail, managing to find the snake despite the fog. 'Meowth can, presumably, see well in the fog.' She thought, trying to keep it in her head to type down later.
Sebastene cringed as the snake launched a mouthful of poison filled needles at Felidae, feeling bad for the cat. She'd been thrown into a cactus before, so she could sympathize with the cat. Felidae mrowled and hissed, shaking his head to try and shake them free.
The fog was beginning to get worse, and Sebastene was struggling to see through the fox at all, the Pokemon shapeless splashes of color. "Felidae!" she called, "let's put an end to this! Use Bite again!"
