Pidgeotto was still somewhat shaken from the first attack. Skull Kid's Water Gun had did more damage than either she or Falkner had expected but they still had plenty of fight left in them. Falkner listen to Ray as he spoke unaware that Skull Kid was going to try and distract him by creating a puddle of water under his feet. It may have seemed like a good tactic to try but Falkner quickly recovered from the surprising trick ready to give an order to his Pokemon. " Trick Room is no longer in effect so we cannot use it to our advantage anymore so we will have to try and get creative, Pidgeotto use Gust to clean up this puddle and get a bit of payback in the process."As Falkner finished speaking however a large bubble thatbSkull Kid had blow had already been on it's way over to Pidgeotto. The sight was so impressive that thebflying type did not realize it was an attack until it was too late. The bubble bursted right on top of Pidgeotto drenching her and reducing her speed. As slow as she was she was still able to attack as she flapped her wings to cause another small gust. Thenwind cleared up the puddle beneath Falkner as some of the muddy water from it flew into Skull Kid's stomach causing minor damage. As he recovered he tried his Bubble attack again. Pidgeotto was so slow as a result of the first attack that she was not fast enough to dodge the second one either. The second bubble bursted right over her head covering her in even more water reducing her speed even further. All hope seemed lost as she hit the ground when suddenly she began to peck at her feathers removing some of the water and restoring some of her health. " You came close to victory there but Roost kicked in just in time. Pidgeotto cannot regain her lost speed but her health just got a massive boost. I hope you have a stronger attack in mind as Bubble alone will not cut it. He said as he watched in glee as Pidgeotto stood proudly overlooking her foe. Gym Battle

Ray was relieved that Falkner had not found Skull Kid's trick cheating. He honestly had not expected nor planned for it and tapped his foot in disapproval at the prank.
"You're lucky our opponent didn't kick us out over your little bit of tomscrappery," he said to Skull Kid, "but I digress. Use Bite and switch out."
Skull Kid proceeded to use the move. However, seeing as the Pokémon in question was in flight, Skull Kid's teeth sank into a spot that he normally would aim for. Ray quickly called Skull Kid back as the bird squawked from the chomp to his crotch.
"Nightmare Queen," Ray said, trying to distract from the situation, "time to tip the scales."

His cherished Pidgeotto seemed to be struggling to keep herself aloft thanks to some of her feathers still being damp and sticky from the bubbles, but she wasn't going to lose face by giving in now. Falkner noted and approved of her absolute determination, wondering just how the battle was going to progress, and if it would get any more interesting than it already was. Skull Kid bared his sharp fangs in a cheeky grin as he hustled forwards, seeming unconcerned over his prior prank's possibility of seeing them thrown out. Pidgeotto watched with sharp, unhappy eyes as the Wartortle approached, unable to strike first due in part to her ordeal last round. He sank those neat little fangs into her abdomen, eliciting a shrill caw of pain, backing out of reach before Pidgeotto could batter him with her wings. Instead the bird landed hard, kicking out her feet to hurl mud made by Skull Kid's own bubbles his way before the Wartortle could completely evade her.
The hasty retreat of Skull Kid made Falkner blink in surprise, unsure of what Ray's plan was. His Pidgeotto had sustained a lot more damage than she let on, chest heaving with quick, short breaths that only barely concealed her fine trembling all over. Ray's next Pokemon was another Falkner didn't recognize, though he was grateful to give his own partner a breather as no attack was called out. Blue... possibly a Water-type, and those could learn moves that could prove troublesome here. "Keeping us on our toes, huh? Tipping scales or not, ready a Sand-Attack!" Falkner called to Pidgeotto. She lifted her head in response, eyes still bright through the pain. No, she was going to fight to the very end and do her best to make Falkner proud.
Spreading her wings, the bird found the strength to lift herself partially off the floor, talons clicking as they scraped over the wood to grab a small amount of dirt that had avoided getting splattered by residual bubbles. Flapping up a little higher, Pidgeotto whirled neatly in the air to send the dirt flying at Nightmare Queen, Ray's Popplio uttering an irate cry as some of it landed in her eyes and made them water unbearably. She'd done nothing but appear in the battle, and this was how she was treated? Eyes streaming, the Water-type glanced back at her trainer for his guidance whilst Falkner instructed his Pidgeotto to land once more to best conserve her energy.

Ray's confidence in this fight increased when he remember a small detail he had just remembered about the Pokémon he just sent out. This was just the break he needed to end this battle. Despite the sand in her eyes, Nightmare Queen could see this confidence in Ray's eyes and nodded her head, knowing that her trainer had a plan.
"Nightmare Queen," Ray said, "use Ice Beam and show our Smurf-haired friend what a real star can do."

Pidgeotto's reduced speed meant that she could not even keep up with Nightmare Queen and with her current health a miss was her only hope of not being defeated. Though the young Popplio had a hard time keeping track of her target the bird was just too large for her to miss as she fired an Ice Beam right into her chest. Pidgeotto collapsed onto the ground as her chest was covered in ice. Falkner was in complete shock as his last Pokemon could no longer continue. As much as it hurt him to admit it he had lost this battle despite his best efforts. He recalled the Pidgeotto before he started walking towards Ray rather disappointed in his performance even if he had tried his best. Once he was within arms reach of Ray he reached into his pocket and put a few items in the young trainers hand. " You have certainly done well in this battle and I must admit defeat. Inwould like you to have my favorite TM containing Roost as a reward along with this prize money and the Zephyr Badge as a sign of your victory. I am disappointed that I could not put up more of a fight but I cannot change what has happened, I can use this battle as a learning experience. I wish you the best on your journey." As he finished speaking he started to walk out of the gym to go and heal his Pokemon while also wondering exactly how things went so wrong in this battle. He hoped that he could find some way to improve so the next trainer he fought would not be able to beat him so easily. Falkner's Pidgeotto | Level 15 Health: 0% (0/48 HP) Status: KO'ed KO'ed VS
Ray's Nightmare Queen | Level 11 Health: 100% (32/32 HP) Status: Normal, Acc -1 Nightmare Queen used Ice Beam!
Nightmare Queen fought well and gained 3 levels. She is now level 14. She also gained +1 happiness and she now has +3 happiness overall. Skull Kid fought well and gained 1 level. He is now level 21. He also gained +1 happiness and he now has +3 happiness overall. Skull Kid is trying to learn Rapid Spin but he already knows 4 moves. Would you like him to forget a move so he can learn Rapid Spin? Falkner has been defeated. He hands you TM51 Roost, 1560 Poke and the Zephyr Badge for your victory.

Ray opened his mouth to say something to make Falkner feel better about the utter defeat, but decided to stays silent. He'd probably just say something stupid and make it worse. Taking the badge, he waited until he was outside the gym to start gloating his victory. It was clear that this was only the beginning, but what a way to start.
(OOC: Replace Bite with Rapid Spin and let's call this thread done.)
