As Marchbaby and his Pokemon finally made it back to New Bark Town he was going to head for the local Pokemon center when he bumped into Kevin out of sheer luck. After a short greeting Kevin presented Marchbaby with the Riolu egg he had promised as Marchbaby gave him the TM for Flamethrower he had aquired. After the exchange the two went their seperate ways and not a moment later the egg started to hatch. The egg broke apart in sections before the young Riolu stuck her head out of the top of the egg quite curious as to what was going on.
It was not his first encounter with a Riolu but it was the first one he ever owned and he was quite excited as he picked the young canine up and held her above his head. Alpha was quite amazed by the aura she gave off as it scanned her trying to determine everything it could about the young Pokemon. Being such a rare Pokemon even Alpha had never seen another one outside of Oracle and it was quite eager to watch Riolu battle. Before she would get a chance to do so however he would have to stop by the Lab long enough to deposit one of his Pokemon so he headed for the lab to do just that.
As he reached the lab the door was wide open and he walked right in hoping the professor would not mind him using the computer to deposit Atropos so he would have room for thr you Riolu. As that task was completed he looked at the small fighting type Pokemon and decided he had to come up with a nickname for her. As she was Oracle's sister and she was quite a smart Pokemon he decided to name the young Riolu after the goddess of wisdom Vör. With her nickname now set he carried herwhile the rest of his team followed him as they made their way to the tall grass just outside the city.
Once the tall grass was in view Marchbaby looked down at the young Pokemon and walked her through what he wantedher to do so that she could gain a little bit of experience. "Vör I want you to wait here to see if anything shows up. If it does I will switch you out for another one of my Pokemon so you can grow a little bit stronger. Once you are strong enough to fight on your own I will give you a chance to do so."
OOC: Waiting on an encounter in the tall grass. Swapping out Atropos for Vör the Riolu.

So the boy thought her Pokemon was safe in this grass? That is a laugh. Suddenly, a scurrying was heard as if something was coming. It seemed to be flapping on little wings. This was anything but good for the little pokemon in question, as a chirping was heard. Suddenly, out of the grass came a creme colored bird with little beadey eyes. The bird looked at the woman and her pokemon, and had battle in it's eyes. The bird chirped loudly, as if ready to attack. If he knew anything of wild pokemon, the trainer would recednise this as a pidgey. A wild Level 5 Pidgey Appered! What will March do?

Once Marchbaby saw the Pidgey he knew there was no way he could even let Vör try to even land a hit on it as she had a huge disadvantage in her current state. The good news was that he had a whole team of Pokémon that could protect the young Riolu as she learned the ropes but first he let her try and build up her aura powers, by letting her try and read the aura of the bird Pokémon in front of her. She could tell that the bird was looking for a fight but her powers were of little use currently in trying to figure out anything else. As she tried to get closer to the bird however Marchbaby knew she was putting herself in quite a bit of danger and he had to act fast so she would not get hurt. Of all his Pokémon that he could use to keep her safe he felt as though Bonecrusher would be the best choice. In the blink of an eye the young dinosaur stepped in front of the young Riolu putting himself between the Pidgey and Vör.
" Vör you sure are brave but that was quite risky getting so close to a Pidgey like that. With more experience you might be able to handle a flying type like that but for now it is best to hang back and observe. Bonecrusher should be able to handle things from here." The Lairon did not show any fear at all as it looked at Pidgey waiting for it to make a move so that he could feel a bit less guilty about attacking such a young Pokémon. Vör looked on somewhat disappointed that she could not partake in the battle but she was still pleased to watch and see how a more experience Pokémon could handle the situation. Once Pidgey began to make a move Lairon braced for impact as he waited for Marchbaby to give him an order knowing the young Pokémon he was facing was not too much of a threat. He was going to give Vör a show to remember.
" Once Pidgey finishes it's attack use Iron Head so Vör can see how strong you are. Riolu and Lucario might not be as good as you are at using your head as a weapon but it is still a powerful move and who knows, maybe Vör might pick up a few things watching you."
OOC: March sends out Vör the Riolu and then recalls her for Bonecrusher. Bonecrusher uses Iron Head.

The Pidgey in question was indeed looking for a fight and could see this small fry Riolu would be easy pickings. However, before the Pidgey could try a single Tackle, the Riolu trainer placed a much tougher foe in the way. The Pidgey was simply dumbfounded at the Lairon before it. The only thought he could think was the Pidgey equivalent of the S word over and over as he attempted to run away. However, the would be bully got a taste of his own medicine with a Iron Head right in his backside. The impact left him fainted as a doornail. Battle Weather: Clear
Pidgey | Level 5 HP: 0% (0/20) Status: Normal Knockout VS Lairon | 32 | Rock Head | N/A HP: 100% (90/90) Status: Normal Used Iron Head!

With the Pidgey out of the way Vör was safe for the time being. Marchbaby was quite relieved as he knew the young Riolu did not have any experience in battles until now and even the young wild Pokémon outside of New Bark Town might prove to be too tough for her to handle. " I give you credit Vör for your curiosity but I can see we need to work on your awareness a bit. Had that Pidgey attacked you things might not have ended so well." The young Riolu just tilted her head not entirely sure what he had planned but whatever it was she would have to put up with it if it meant she could fight stronger foes without having to only rely on others to fight for her.
Bonecrusher was just glad to get into another battle as he wanted to keep getting stronger himself even if his foe was so young that he did not even break a sweat defeating it. He was also glad he had prevented Vör from getting hurt but from her clueless reaction to Marchbaby pointing out her lack of awareness. For now however Vör was still young so they both knew she had time to improve and the best way to do that was to find a weak opponent for her to face in the tall grass once she witnessed a few more to make sure she was ready. " Now Vör I would like you to stay a bit ahead as we look for a few more Pokémon to battle so you can get a good view of the action. That last battle may have helped a bit but I do not think you are ready to face your own foe just yet."
The young Riolu then slowly walked out ahead of the rest of the group in search of another Pokémon to battle. " Just like before Vör we will do a swap after you find another Pokémon so you will not have to be in too much danger. If only you had a bit more strength we would not have to be so cautious but I would rather be safe than sorry knowing how much your species relies on trust to evolve." He said as he followed the young Pokémon hoping that it would not take too long to find another Pokémon to battle.
OOC: Waiting for another encounter in the tall grass. Just noting that Vör should only gain 1 level not 2 as she was swapped out but the happiness is correct for both. Thank you very much for the reply.

March's hopes for another fight were soon realized as while he was discussing the game plan with his Riolu companion, a Spearow was eyeing the team rim a nearby tree. The courageous bird was not a fan of humans in his turf, especially seeing as the Pidgey said Human had just obliterated was an old friend. The Spearow let out a squak which loosely translated to "Ngaaaaaah!!!" and charged at his opponents with out hesitation. A LV 3 Spearow attacks Choose your Pokemon

As the Spearow charged towards Vör Marchbaby knew she was not ready to hold her own in a battle yet and though it was not a great option he knew he had to swap her out for a stronger Pokémon. " Vör I really hate to do this again but you won't be able to win against this Spearow either, Bonecrusher will have to take over for now until you have enough experience." As he finished speaking the steel plated dinosaur stepped out in front of Vör ready to absorb any blow the bird Pokémon could dish out in order to keep Vör safe. As he waited for Spearow to make impact Marchbaby looked over at Vör who was not a huge fan of staying on the sidelines again.
" I know you really want a chance to shine but your time will come, until it does just watching a battle might teach you a few things like the last one did. Once you evolve a Spearow would be no problem but for now anything with a type advantage will easily be able to defeat you." Hoping she would understand his concerns for her safety he turned his attention back to Bonecrusher. The young steel type showed no fear of his opponent as he lowered his head ready to strike as soon as the bird Pokémon made it's move. Marchbaby waited until the Spearow made it's move before giving his order as he did not feel any need to rush in the current situation.
" Bonecrusher now that we have everything sorted out I think it is time for you to show Vör your strength again, I want you to use Iron Head on Spearow. Maybe that will get it to calm down." As the next round began Bonecrusher rushed forward with his head lowered as far as he could as he ran towards the bird. He lined it up perfectly so that it would have very little hope of escape as he closed the distance. Marchbaby did not even watch as he wanted to check on Vör again. " Vör I promise you sooner or later a Pokémon will come along that even in your current form you will be able to battle but please watch Bonecrusher closely here. Once this battle is over we can try again to hopefully find something you can battle safely." He said as he waited for the results of this round.
Ooc: Marchbaby sends out Vör and recalls her for Bonecrusher. Bonecrusher uses Iron Head.

Such easy prey! Or so the spearow thought as it made a beeline for the squishy little blue jackal. If it hadn't been so headstrong it may have not have started the battle off with driving its beak straight into a hard iron plate. The connection made a terrible loud screech. The spearow's peck trailing along the natural metal armor like nails on a chalkboard, the poor bird probably got the worst of the noise. That only made it even more angry. Now with ears ringing it wasn't just mad and out for vengeance for its pidgey friend! No, now the prickly avian was enraged. Feathers further rustled into a mess of points it hovered just behind the steel monster in a fit. The wild pokémon cawed and lashed the air with its talons, trying to keep up the tough guy act, but it would do no good. And if Spearow thought it was safe up there, well, it was wrong about that too. As Bonecrusher lowered his head and pawed the ground to prepare for his charge the bird made known its mockery. It wriggled its beak and readied, completely incapable of guessing just how outmatched it was against the lairon. It was over in a flash really, both pokémon going headlong for one another. One guess as to who came out on top. Maybe next time the hot headed spearow will think twice before facing off against something nicknamed Bonecrusher. VICTORY!
Bonecrusher gained a measly 150xp, but +1 Happiness! (Max) Vör grew to LV 3 and gained +1 Happiness! (+2)

After dealing with the aggressive Spearow Bonecrusher was glad to see Vör was still doing fine. He easily shook off the single hit he took in the battle as he walked back towards her. The young Riolu was happy to be friends with such a powerful Pokemon after being saved by him twice but she still wanted a chance to test her own abilities. " Great job Bonecrusher, that Spearow should not mess with us anytime soon after taking such a powerful hit.We still have a lot of training to do but it does appear Vör got a little bit stronger just by watching you again." He said as the young Riolu's ears pointed straight up after hearing something.
As she started to walk towards another patch of grass Marchbaby and Bonecrusher followed close behind as she was still not very strong and would likely need help with anything they ran into. As they approached the patch of grass Vör suddenly stopped in place and raised her paw again trying to use her Aura powers to identify what was lurking in the grass likely watching their every movement. Even with her best efforts she was not strong enough yet and was disappointed by her inability to use her powers yet. " Do not get discouraged Vör it is only a matter of time before it comes to you. Every battle you watch you get that much closer. You still have a way to go but we are with you every step of the way. Whatever is hiding in the grass will likely show itself soon so be ready."
As the young Riolu stepped forward she looked around trying to determine what the best time to jump behind Bonecrusher would be. In the unlikely event that she would be able to handle whatever was watching them she wanted to keep her attacking options open as well. Just as she thought she was ready the grass nearby started to shake violently and strange noises started to come from the same patch of grass leading Marchbaby to think that another battle was about to begin. " Ok Vör it looks like the show is about to start, be ready for just about anything to come out at us and be ready to switch out just in case. There are a few Pokemon that you might be able to handle now if we get lucky." Vör then dug her claws into the dirt waiting to see if she should fight or tag Bonecrusher in.
OOC: Waiting on another encounter.

Another encounter did indeed come the direction of the girl and her Riolu, and it did not look pretty. The Spearows friends had seen what happened to their colligue, and the leader of the pack had decided to drop in on the unfortunate trainer and her pokemon. This would not be easy at all and whats worse? The Spearows attention was focused on the little riolu. Bonecrusher betetr hope he can protect the little pokemon from this vicious assult. Soon, The Spearow swooped down and cawed angerly ready for a fight. This would not be easy for them, thats for sure. A LV5 Spearow Attacks. What will you do?

Marchbaby thought the first Spearow was enough of a pain but now another one had decided to challenge him to a battle with Vör seeming to be it's target. Bonecrusher was ready to step in to save her when Alpha jumped out ahead instead wanting to battle for a change. " Master I shall fight this time instead, seeing as how I still need to train more before I reach my potential and this bird will be no challenge at all it will be an easy bit of training until Vör can fend for herself."[/color'] The Metang said as it watched the aggressive bird with an intimidating stare of it's own. As the robotic Pokemon floated around waiting to strike Marchbaby figured he should at least give the rare Pokemon a chance to shine while giving Bonecrusher a rest.
" Though I have no doubts Bonecrusher can handle this battle he has not had a rest in a while so I do not see any harm in letting you battle in his place. Vör I want you to watch closely again. Alpha here is part of a pseudo legendary line so it has a huge amount of power just waiting to come out. Just like Bonecrusher it is part steel type like you will become when you evolve so you might learn something watching this battle." Alpha realized how important that fact was and as Vör's species could use their first as a weapon Alpha had a great idea on how to take advantage of that. Winding up it's arm it waited for Spearow to move ready to strike.
" Vör I hope you have a good view. I am about to use my Bullet Punch to show you just how powerful we steel types can be. Is that ok with you master?" Marchbaby did not even have to think for a moment as anything that would help the young Riolu learn how to protect herself was a great plan and given Alpha's intelligence he had no doubts the Metang would put on an impressive display. " I sure have no issues with it whatsoever and I do not think Vör does either. Happy hunting and give it everything you have." With Marchbaby's permission the Metang sped towards it's target as fast as it could. It's fist moved as fast as a bullet as it closed the distance just waiting to put the pesky bird in it's place.
OOC: March sends out Vör and then switches her out with Alpha. Alpha uses Bullet Punch.

The Spearow was not expecting this. It got hit hard with no time to react- he could just hear his subbordnits laughing at him about him being beaten by a floating Metang. The Spearow growned out a last response- "WHen i'm healed youll regret laughing at me!" The Hoarde of spearow froze in fear hearing that, and flew off quickly. They would deffinatly be recieving a talking too from their leader once he recovered. The Force of March and her pokemon seemed to be pretty much unstoppable, and seemed to result in easy wins all around. Is she sure she should be training in new bark town? VICTORY!
Alpha gained 60xp, but +1 Happiness! [+5] Vör grew to LV 5 and gained +2 Happiness! (+4)
After swiftly dealing with the pesky Spearow Alpha stretched out its arms feeling quite proud of itself for handling the situation so easily. Marchbaby on the other hand remembered that he had a few items that might just help raise Vör a bit quicker so she could hold her own. He grabbed the two Lava Cookies and the Big Malasada and gave them both to the young Riolu so she could have a special treat. After eating all three items he found a Candy Cane and two Rare Candies and gave them to her as well. After eating every bit of the sweet feast she managed to learn a new move Counter thanks to all the energy the snacks provided.
The added strength the Riolu gained was quite pleasing to Marchbaby as she might just be able to fight a little by herself now instead of him having to switch her out at the start of every battle. " I think those treats really helped you out Vör. It will still take even more training before you will evolve but this at least brought you a lot closer. That Counter of yours should be really useful if nothing else." Alpha and Bonecrusher were both proud of Vör as well as the young Riolu looked around looking for something to battle truly believing she was ready for anything that came her way. Marchbaby was still a bit uneasy however he was willing to give her a shot so long as the next Pokemon that came along was not too powerful.
" Vör I am willing to give you a chance now that you have such a useful move assuming we do not run into something too powerful. By all means you are a lot stronger than you were but you are far from your potential still and a number of Pokemon here can still give you problems even with Counter." He said before the Riolu's ears pointed up hearing something in the nearby patch of grass. She could not make out exactly what it was but her fantastic hearing would not be fooled by the wind. She growled at the grass hoping to draw out whatever was there as Marchbaby stood by ready to help her out." Vör do not attack until we know what it is. I know you are very eager to finally get into a battle but your species is not known for its endurance so you still have to be careful."
OOC:
Alpha actually gains 250 exp from the last battle as it fought a level 5 foe and Vör is still under level 25 so the exp does not get reduced so it should be at 693/2269 exp towards level 28. Alpha also has 15 happiness after the battle not 5. As for Vör the level gain is incorrect as she only gains 1 level and happiness so she should be level 4 with +3 happiness. I am using 2 Lava Cookies, 1 Big Malasada, 2 Rare Candies, and 1 Candy Cane boosting both her level and happiness to 7 each. She learns Counter as a result. Also noting that Marchbaby is male not female. All items and levels have been updated and now I am waiting for another encounter.

After the growl from Vör the bushes began giggling. "Wow." The words followed just above a whisper and shortly after the bushes began to rustle a great deal. In a flash a young boy popped out the top of the foliage, sporting a side swept ball cap and summer attire he sprung out of hiding with a big smile. "It's really a Riolu! Haha! I knew I wouldn't be able to sneak up on you guys," he started excitedly, eyes locked on Vör for most of his approach. The boy was practically vibrating with enthusiasm when he stood to face March. And if you thought his eyes couldn't get any wider you'd be wrong. Glancing between the array of rare pokémon the older trainer had was a marvel to the youngster. "You must be one amazing trainer mister. Holy miltank! Look at these guys." He once again looked between Vör and Alpha with amazement, with a sparkling pass at the shiny lairon. A hand went to his cap and he pulled it so the bill was turned to the other side of his head and his face turned from giddy to more serious. "I just have to battle you! My name's Mikey, and I'm going to get just as strong as someone like you one day so I'd be crazy not to get a taste of your pokémon's power." The boy grinned, pulling a pokéball from one of his pockets. "Come on out Rattata!"The plain rat emerged from the ball before March and his group with a determined chatter. But that was quickly brought to a halt when the rodent saw the behemoths that were Alpha and Bonecrusher. Its fur stood on end as it seemed to pale in the shadows of such opponents. Youngster Mikey chuckled, "With any luck Rattata, we'll get to see what Riolu can do." The boy turned his gaze up to March with a hopeful look while Rattata tore his eyes away to find this riolu. When its eyes landed on the much smaller and less intimidating figure of the aura pokémon it let out an audible sigh of relief. Youngster Mikey requests a battle!

The young boy coming out of the brush was an unexpected sight for Marchbaby but the boys reaction to seeing his Pokemon was not. Knowing that most trainers in the area would have a starter and maybe a Pidgey or a Rattata the sight of a Riolu must have been quite a shock to the youngster. " Well what do you know? It is nice to meet a youngster who knows what a Riolu is given their extreme rarity in Johto." He said as the young Riolu looked at the youngster filled with excitement hoping this would be her chance. The youngster pointing out how strong his Pokemon was seemed like the perfect time to mention why he had such powerful Pokemon.
" It sure took me a while to get some of these Pokemon but as a dragon apprentice of the Blackthorn Clan I am expected to have rare and powerful Pokemon and be able to control them. My only dragon type is in my PC right now but even without being able to use it at the moment I still have quite a collection on me and they were all worth the hard work it took to obtain them." After the young lad introduced himself Marchbaby was quite impressed with his spirit as he went to introduce himself. " I am Marchbaby and the young Riolu here is Vör. Alpha is the Metang studying everything going on around it and Bonecrusher is the shiny Lairon. I would introduce my others but I do believe a battle is what you really wanted, so I accept. Riolu are not very powerful until they evolve but I will at least give her a chance as promised."
Vör was beyond excited to finally have a chance to battle even if her foe was far from an easy win. Even with her Counter there was no guarantees that she could even handle a Rattata in her current state. If nothing else it was still a learning experience as she stepped forward with a smile on her face ready to get started. " Well Vör here is the chance you have waited so long for. You might not be as powerful as your sister Oracle yet but this battle should help if things do not get out of hand. Start out with a Quick Attack and we will go from there." Vör then ran off at full speed hoping to impress him while trying to avoid any costly errors.
OOC: March sends out Vör who uses Quick Attack.
