Fiery Serpent! [Sprout Tower] [F]

As the next round started the elder knew he had to keep the two Pokemon from partnering up against his Bellsprout or things would get bad for him very quickly. When Venon went to heal the wounded Cyndaquil he had a good chance to break up the partnerhip between the two Pokemon as soon as the Cyndaquil made its move. Ekans may have had to sacrifice a turn but the Cyndaquil was not going to let the elder off easily as it fired an Ember at his Bellsprout. The fiery attack caused a massive amount of damage but it remained standing despite the pain from the ember ready to strike back on both Pokemon. " Bellsprout use Magical Leaf on both of your foes at once. Hoothoot you follow up with Hypnosis on Ekans." In no time at all the two Pokemon launched their attack almost simultaneously.

the magical leaves that flew towards Ekans and Cyndaquil were razor sharp and caused a small amount of damage to both Pokemon while Hoothoot looked at the Ekans right as she started to dig. Just as she broke the surface the hypnotic waves met her eyes and she started to feel drowsy. Even as she fell into her hole she could not escape the slumber inducing effects as she fell asleep before her attack could fully execute. " I must admit Dig would have been a smart tactic but using that Potion costed you just a but too much time to pull it off. With your snake temporarily out of action things should be interesting from here." Before he could give his Bellsprout another order however Cyndaquil realized it was now outnumbered and it had to even the playing field with its next move.

Cyndaquil fired another Ember at Bellsprout but unlike the last one this one proved too much for it to bare as it fell to the ground in defeat. " Bellsprout No! Argh Hoothoot we have to end this battle and fast before that Ekans can wake up. Use Peck again and try to do as much damage as you can." The owl hopped over and pecked the young fire types forehead but the intimidation from earlier did not help with its cause as the damage was minor. The elder was quite disappointed as he began to realize he was being backed into a wall with very little hope of turning things around at this rate. " I see now that first round was a test and it appears I have failed. Things are not looking good but I refuse to give up so long as my Hoothoot continues to stand."

Venom was frustrated that Ekans' Dig attack had failed, and that she was no on the ground snoozing. This made the ninja grit his teeth, but his expression brightened up once again when Cyndaquil's flames caused the sacred sprout to fall. With one foe down and out, Venom's vigor was renewed instantly, as he smiled big down at Cyndaquil. "Alright! I knew ya had it in ya Cyndaquil! Nicely done!" The Poison type trainer turned back to the elder, listening to his words, and then grinning once again. "You guessed it. Back in the first round, I knew Cyndaquil would go after your Bellsprout, so I had Ekans attack your Hoothoot. The entire first round was just to measure your power, but now I know for sure. We can beat you, and we will."

Venom spoke to the elderly sage with great confidence and certainty, but before he could end this battle, he had to awaken Ekans. Turning his attention back to his serpentine Pokémon, he reached into his bag, and pulled out another item. The ninja then ran over to Ekans' side, held her up, and put the item into her mouth, making sure she swallowed it down with no trouble. "Here Ekans. Its a Chesto Berry." Venom smiled at Ekans, knowing it would wake her up right away. Sure enough, the berry worked like a charm, as Ekans' eyes opened up wide soon after swallowing it down. "Ekans!" The snake Pokémon replied, taking a quick look around, until her eyes fell on her trainer. The scales on her face turned red, as she felt very happy inside to be held in his arms the way he was holding her at that moment.

The Poison type trainer kept smiling down at his Pokémon, happy to see her awake and back in the battle. "Sorry to cut your beauty rest short, but the battle's not over yet." Venom put Ekans down gently, then the two turned, facing their opponents once again. Upon seeing that Cyndaquil had made quick work of the Bellsprout, Ekans was now more determined to get herself a win, and make her trainer proud. Giving her tail a good rattle, she glared at the round owl Pokémon. "I love your enthusiasm Ekans. Lets put it to good use. Poison Sting!" Venom called his next order, and Ekans sprang into action, shooting her toxic darts at Hoothoot just like back in round one. "Ekans! Ekans!"

What smidgen of victory was still capable for the elder sage to grasp was swiftly wrenched away. Its rival soundly defeated, Cyndaquil was more than happy to step back and give Venom ample space to care for the poisonous snake. The fiery mouse was giddy from the victory; even if Hoothoot was still standing. The bird was of no importance to the fire pokémon. Soon it wouldn't be of any import at all now with Ekans awake again.

Despite this battle turning into an assured defeat for him, Elder Li's lips curled into a faint smile at the care and attention the boy was giving his own pokémon. "Well there's no point to delaying," he nearly mumbled to himself. The owl was still raring to go, hopping onto his other leg and swiftly retracting the one he had been standing on. The avian hooted and took a breath. "That's right Hoothoot, another Peck."

As was to be expected of Ekans, she wasted no time in slithering across the floor with greater speed than her opponent. Hoothoot kept his big red eyes locked on her, but it still wasn't enough to avoid her spray of poisonous needles. Like tiny daggers the attack bit into Hoothoot's wings as he made to at least protect his more vital areas. He then quickly flapped his stubby feathered arms to rid himself of the residue before the poison could set in, and without missing a beat jumped into the air and made a beeline for Ekans.

The poison type hadn't been expecting such a prompt response. Before she knew it the airborne owl was right in her face; pecker at eye level. In a move of instinct the snake turned. Hoothoot's beak slid across her scales near harmlessly; but half an inch from a much more devastating attack.

"As you can see we still have quite a bit of fight left too," the elder chuckled after the energetic display of his owl. Too bad his little bird was outnumbered.

With the battle now back in his favor, Venom got back a grin of his own. At the same time, Ekans shared in her trainer's enjoyment, getting a grin of her own. Trainer and Pokémon looked at their opponents like a pair of snakes ready to strike a rat, as they knew this battle was reaching its conclusion. "Ive learned some new and very useful information from you sir. Information that Im sure will help me a great deal on the remainder of my journey." Venom bowed to the sage once more, showing his gratitude for it all, before looking up to face him once again. "However, Im afraid we must end this now."


Ekans gave her tail another loud rattle, just as ready as he trainer was to end this battle once and for all. "Ekans!" Before calling for the final blow, Venom turned to Cyndaquil once more, smiling at the small fire mouse Pokémon, as it showed off how happy it was with its victory over its rival. "Im really happy for ya Cyndaquil. Ya did a great job. This is a well deserved victory, but if ya don't mind, Id like for you to lend us your power once more." With that said, the Poison type trainer turned back to the sage and his owl Pokémon. "Lets wrap this up. Ekans, Poison Sting! Cyndaquil, Ember! Make these attacks good ones you two!" Venom called for them to strike the final blows against their foe, and Ekans happily obliged. "Ekans!" The serpent Pokémon once more slithered towards Hoothoot, and shot one more round of toxic needles at it, holding nothing back.

Elder Li had all but accepted defeat by now but he was going to keep trying to at least maintain his honor as bleak as things were. He looked over at the two Pokemon getting ready to attack his Hoothoot again and was filled with dread as Venom gave the orders to attack again knowing his brave Hoothoot was facing near impossible odds but he ordered one final attack hoping to at least deal a bit more damage before meeting a bitter defeat. " We have put up a good fight Hoothoot and though hope is nearly lost we shall go down fighting honorably, use Peck on Ekans one more time." The owl had no chance to attack however before Ekans and Cyndaquil were able to fire off their moves first.

Ekans made the first move firing a bunch of tiny poisonous needles at Hoothoot causing a decent amount of damage and even without the poison being enough to effect the owl it was severely weakened by the attack only for Cyndaquil to fire an Ember towards it scoring a direct hit. The mighty owl just could not take the combination of the two attacks as it fell to the floor in defeat. It was a terrible way for the elder to lose the battle but he could at least say he had fought back honorably as hard as he could.[ " I must admit defeat, I fought with all of my might but you have bested me. With your help Cyndaquil was able to accomplish its goal after all this time and I have to commend you for sticking by it."

After taking a deep breath he reached into his pocket and handed Venom a TM for Flash along with opening a window with an attached Escape Rope for him to use. " I would like you to have this TM as a symbol of your victory and you are welcome to use this Escape Rope to go to the bottom floor. I still do not approve of Cyndaquil or its ways but you did make a good partner for it. It appears to have taken quite a liking to you. I do believe it would like to go with you." Having spoken his peace the elder began to walk away to go and heal his wounded Pokemon and to address his followers following their defeat.

With their victory finally achieved, Venom, Ekans, and Cyndaquil all gained big, new smiles on their faces. "Yeah! We did it! We really did it!" Venom declared, as Ekans cheered right along side her trainer. "Ekans, Ekans!" After their little celebration, Venom and his two Pokémon friends turned back to the elder, listening to his final words of wisdom. The ninja gave him a smile, accepting the TM with a bow of gratitude. "Thank you for everything elder. I will be forever grateful to you for all Ive gained from this challenge." Originally, acquiring the TM for Flash wasn't the reason Venom took part in this challenge, but now that he had it, he knew just what to do with it.

But before that, the Poison type trainer turned his attention to the small fire mouse Pokémon, whose very presence in the Sprout Tower was the reason he took part in this challenge to begin with. As the small Fire type looked up at Venom with soulful eyes, Venom quickly found himself to be defeated. True, Cyndaquil wasn't a Poison type, but Venom figured he could make an exception just this once. "Okay, you win. C'mon Cyndaquil, your coming with us." Reaching into his pocket, Venom pulled out an empty Poke Ball, then tossed it at the small Pokémon. After Cyndaquil had gone inside, Venom picked up the ball and smiled at it. "Glad to have ya on the team. Welcome aboard." He then put Cyndaquil's Poke Ball away, happy to have added such a strong Pokémon to his team.

With that taken care of, Venom turned back to his serpentine partner, holding one arm out to her. "Lets go Ekans. Now that we have Flash, there's one more thing we can do before we face our first gym battle challenge." Ekans knew what to do now, and slithered onto Venom's arm, coiling around his shoulders. "Ekans?" She questioned her master, wondering what he meant by that. Before answering her, Venom ran straight for the Escape Rope, grabbed ahold of if, and began to climb down and out of Sprout Tower. "You'll see Ekans. We're gonna use Flash to get us another new friend."

Once they finally reached the bottom of the tower, Venom recalled Ekans back to her Poke Ball for some rest. "You did great in there Ekans. Now Ivysaur will take over." That said, the ninja grabbed Ivysaur's Poke Ball, throwing it up into the air, and letting him out. "Ivysaur." Once freed from his round holding container, Ivysaur looked up at Venom with a smile, happy to be out and about once again. "Hey Ivysaur, I need your help with something important. Ill explain on the way, but first, I need you to take this." Venom knelt down to his grassy partner, holding out the TM for Flash to him. "Ivy!" Ivysaur nodded, more then happy to comply. Ivysaur extended his vines out, grabbed the TM, then made it disappear into his body, learning how to use the move Flash just like that.

The Poison type trainer smiled once more at this, standing back up, and turning to the closest road out of Violet City. "Thanks Ivysaur, now lets hit it. Another new friend is waiting for us." Venom remarked, then took off as fast as his legs could carry him, running straight out of Violet City. "Ivy, Ivysaur!" Ivysaur was quick to chase after him, running as fast as he could to catch up to his trainer. Venom hadn't originally planned on taking this detour, but since fate had presented him with an opportunity to do so, who was he to turn it down? At least that's what the Poison type trainer thought to himself as he ran, grinning a very excited grin. Ivysaur didn't really get it, but upon remembering how Venom was just before he caught Ekans, the Grass/Poison type Pokémon didn't question his master, knowing that what ever had Venom so excited must be more then worth it.
