Hunting in the dark(F)

Having completed his mission Tyler headed to the Dark Cave with Mania to try and take some heat off for a little while and hunt for a Pokemon said to be living in the cave. Given the poor lighting conditions in the cave and being located away from the busy streets of Violet City it seemed like a good place for a rare Pokemon to hide in. It was so dark that Tyler had to send out Blitz and have it use Flash just so he could have some idea where they were going. The stalagmites throughout the cave posed quite a danger to anyone who made a wrong step while the walls of the cave were dangerous in their own right as they were covered in sharp rocks.

Tyler slowly walked through the cave with Blitz by his side keeping it's bright light aimed ahead of them hoping to catch a Pokemon in the beam of light or at least warn them of any opposing danger. " I do believe this could make a great hideout if only we could find a way to keep certain parts of the cave lit on a constant basis. I can really see why some Pokemon would like it here." Mania in particular loved it as her eyes were superior to Tyler's and the secluded nature meant few things would bother her. Even Blitz did not seem to mind it as it was part steel type and the rocks in the cave reacted to it's magnetic body. The magnetic rocks helped keep it calm as it continued to search the area with it's flash. 

" This cave sure does go on for quite a while, I am just suprisurp no Pokemon have come out to greet us yet, maybe they are afraid of people. If that is the case they are amount the smartest Pokemon I have seen in a while but we will find them either way."  Mania then got a scent of something odd ahead and growled hoping the sound of a Pokemon instead of a human might draw out whatever was lurking ahead. Given their recent luck things could not get much worse so it was worth a try. As they waited to see if Mania's aggressive approach would pay off Tyler had Blitz shine it's flash around the cave in hopes that if the growled did scare something out of trying to approach from the front that it would be able to catch it trying to flank them.

" Be ready for anything." He said believing something would jump out at any moment.

Chomping on ores was heard, as the noise neared Tyler and his pokemon. It was feint at first, but then got louder. Soon a pokemon emerged out of the darkness, a long black mouth on the end of it looking like hair, and a yellow body. The Mawile cried out at the two, seemingly looking for a very dangerous fight. The Fairy/Dark type looked towardtyler and his pokemon, ready to make the first move. It would beat up this trainers pokemon, then loot him of a few stones if he was holding any. The Mawile staired waiting for tyler to make the first move, as its eyes looked hungerly in the direction of tylers bag.

Tyler was a bit surprised to see a Mawile in the cave as they did not strike him as a Pokemon that would thrive in such a poorly lit area but that was not going to stop him from battling anything he found in the cave. As weird as a Mawile sounded to him he did not think it was the Pokemon he was after but there was still a silver lining as he could use this as a chance to train one of his Pokemon just in case they did run into the Pokemon he was after later. As the Mawile stared at his bag Tyler grabbed one of his Pokeballs and tossed it at his feet. It opened to reveal Flint the Charmeleon who was eager for a fight.

" As you are likely able to guess Flint I need you to take care of a problem for me. That abomination over there with the deformed conjoined twin wants to battle us and I in return would like to make it pay a dear price for trying to challenge us. I do remember seeing a few of its kind at the Kalos Festival way back and though I do not recall all the details I know it is part steel type so your flames should have no problem hurting it." He said as Flint nodded getting the picture. As weird as the Mawile looked Flint was not very worried as he stepped forward with his claws extended and mouth open ready to fire as soon as he was in range to use his ember. As he closed the gap and got ready to fire Tyler looked over at his for and chuckled as it had no idea just how heartless Tyler could be.

" That should be close enough for you to strike Flint, there must be plenty of oxygen in this cave to carry even your Ember quite a distance. This freak of nature might think it is tough but it has never met the likes of us before. We shall make sure it does not repeat that mistake anytime soon." As he finished his speech Flint took a deep breath to build up as much oxygen as he could before exhaling sending a small Ember towards Mawile. As he waited to see if Flint would get the job done Tyler looked over at Blitz who was so interested in the battle that it had nearly forgotten that it was the only source of light in the cave." Blitz you moron stay focused before you cost us this battle." He said to the Magnemite as it snapped out of it and traced the Ember towards it's target.

The Mawile had had her challenge accepted. Happy, the Mawile went into abttle stance, and got ready. It was immidiatly blasted by an ember, and could not egt back up. The Attack was too much,resulting in a OHKO. The Mawile was unmoving for a bit, but eventually recovered, dropping the item it took which was an oran berry and ran off into the caves to treat it's wounds.

The Cave was echoing with sounds, and various things, Perhaps that pokemon was here someplace, Tyler just hadn't yet found it. Witht he mawile gone, the coast was clear for tyler to keep on moving forward hunting for his pokemon.

The Mawile being defeated so easily by Flint was a bit disappointing no matter how much Tyler had expected it as he was hoping it would have put up some kind of fight given how tough it looked. " Well Flint I guess you did alright but your foe on the other hand was a complete waste of time and effort. With that being said I know for a fact that this was not the Pokemon we were after so our trip is not a total waste. Who knows how long it will take to find it but if you keep getting experience like this taking a little while to find it is actually a good thing." He said as the fire type fired off a series of embers to celebrate. 

Blitz on the other hand just kept searching around trying not to anger Tyler while staying on the lookout for anything that might be the Pokemon they were after. It's Flash would certainly capture anything that was curious enough to step forward but the limited range meant that it could not search the whole area at once making an ambush quite likely at any moment. " Blitz let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary, there is so much darkness in this cave that I would not be surprised if there were holes in the floor about now. The Pokemon here also seem really jumpy as it has probably been a long time since they have seen any humans here."

Flint kept and eye out as well as he was not satisfied in just knocking out a single Pokemon. Since the Bug Catching Contest he had not seen much action and this cave was quickly becoming a great place to train as few steel types could stand up to his Ember as weak as it was. As they continued to search Flint could heard a strange noise up ahead a short distance away and pointed in the general direction with his claw to get Blitz to focus it's flash in the general area hoping that whatever it was would not be out of range of the beam. As the beam lit up the area the noise was coming from it grew louder and louder and Tyler had no doubts that a battle was about to start. " Flint be ready but do not attack yet. We do not want to knock out whatever it is just in case it is the Pokemon we are after."



OOC: FLint actually gains 700 experience from the last battle as 50x14=700. He should have 1242/2269 experience towards level 28. Updating the experience and happiness now. Waiting on another encounter.

As the light reached further and further along the cave Tyler & Co. would finally be met with something more interesting than damp rocks. At first it was merely a reflection, the light catching a shiny surface which sent a beam from Flash twinkling back at the group casting it, but the object which caught the light was moving. It started higher up along a wall but swiftly barrelled down to the ground, rolled across the path, then once again up another wall. It was like a ball lobbing up and down a half pipe. Except this was no ball.

Smooth a surface as it was, the object in question was rather flat and hexagonal shape had inset spheres in place of corners. Any savvy trainer would be able to recognize it as a pokémon. One that was somewhat hard to find anywhere else in Johto, but here under the cover of this heavy darkness the steel type roamed free.

The bronzor continued its milling along the walls, criss-crossing along the paths, until it finally noticed the trainer due to the light emitted catching in its eyes from its own shiny surface. There was a surprised eek signalling its stop. The wild pokémon jumping from the wall to hover in the air and stare at this source of illumination. It blinked blandly at Tyler, seemingly a little confused as to why a human would possibly be wandering around in this cave.

The small hexagonal Pokemon that appeared next was not what Tyler was expecting at all and it certainly was an intrinteres looking one. " Though I do not think this is what we are looking for either it is certainly an odd Pokemon. Ugly even if I am being perfectly honest but I have seen worse. Even so I do believe it will make for another good sparing partner for you Flint." Tyler said as he continued to observe the small Pokemon. It looked like it was at least part steel type and after Flint defeated the Mawile they had encountered earlier so easily it made sense to him to keep the streak going until they found the right one. Flint needed more training anyway and if Bronzor was anything like Mawile he could get a bit of useful experience from another victory.

Flint stepped forward just waiting to strike while Höllenhund popped out of his Pokeball to join Mania. Given how much both Pokemon loved the dark he was honestly a bit shocked that it took the hellhound so long to come and and explore the cave even considering his distaste for Mania. " Ah so the hellhound finally graces us with his presence, I was starting to think your lazy butt was going to stsy in your Pokrball all day. You might just enjoy the show that is about to start." Tyler said as the hellhound and Mania growled at one another as Flint tried to concentrate on the battle at hand. He was not as strong as the two dark types but he did not doubt their love of battles and thought if he did a good enough job it might get the two bloodthirsty Pokemon to get along for a while. Even Tyler started to grow annoyed by the pair even knowing their bitter rivalry.

" You two never do stop do you? A clash between you will be one for the ages but now is not the time, Flint here needs to catch up with you and we need to find and secure the Pokemon we are after here. I can only guess how long it will take but your bickering is not helping. Flint use Ember on that Bronzor snd see if that gets their attention." As he finished giving his orders he covered his forhead with his palms trying not to lose his temper anymore than he had. The last thing he needed after all this was for Mania and Höllenhund to start a battle between themselves with Flint already in one.

Bronzor heard the order and shuddered, its shiny metal body taking on a sudden condensation as if sweating in fear at the prospect. This bunch looked rather fearsome, and possibly even of a typing that rendered its mighty psychic powers utterly useless, but the steel type wasn't about to turn its back and flee. The wild pokémon let out a grinding noise and twirled in the air, signaling it was ready to engage.

Unfortunately that would be about all it got to do. Taking in a deep breath Flint summoned a belly's worth of fire and took aim. Bronzor got so far as to light its eyes up with its powers when the charmeleon exhaled. Gas ignited as it struck against the fiery pokémon's bod and was funneled right toward the much much weaker wild pokémon. Within the next moment the steel type was completely awash in fire, turning its own metal body red hot it was quick to fall to the ground with a resounding clatter.

Flames still danced along its body as the poor thing fell unconscious.

After dealing with the pesky Bronzor Tyler had no idea where in the cave he should look next as he tried to avoid setting off Mania and Höllenhund. It was wonderful to train Flint but otherwise the cave had been a letdown so far but he was not about to give up even with his bad luck and their fighting certainly did not calm him down.. " I cannot say the Pokemon here are too impressive so far but maybe if we keep weeding out the weaker ones the one we are searching for will come out. That is if fighting amongst ourselves does not scare it off."[/color] He then turned to face Blitz who was still lighting up the cave.

The strong beam coming from its eye had still not been able to track down anything decent but Tyler had an idea. Maybe it he switched the Pokemon he used in the next battle his luck might also get better. " Blitz I want you to take over for Flint. He could use a break and you need some training anyway. My brother already has a Magneton so we need to evolve you as soon as we can so we can keep pace with his team. We will also need to somehow aquire a Beldum as well." Just as he finished speaking he caught a glimpse of something strange lying on the ground a few feet away. As he walked over to investigate it turned out to be a Jaw Fossil that had somehow ended up in the cave. He scooped it up while looking for another Pokemon to battle.

" It is not a Pokemon in its current state but this Jaw Fossil can be revived as a Pokemon when we make it back to Goldenrod. This is quite a find as Jaw Fossils are not native her so someone had to have dropped it. I do recall it being part dragon type if I remember the elders in Blackthorn correxcor. Oh how sweet it will be to bring them down with their own type." As he put the fossil in his backpack Blitz could sense something just out of view waa nearby. After finding such a rare treasure he was not about to let anyone steal it fron him. " Everyone be on guard, we have no idea what is watching us right now." He said as the group waited to see what would pop out next

They were most certainly being watched. From the shadow of an outcrop, nestled in a little nook, was another hard skinned pokémon. Though unlike its friend of which the trainer had so effortlessly dispatched of, this little guy would be much easier to spot if it hadn't been hidden away by the safety of the cave's abundant rocks. But it wasn't hiding for safety. No. The small steel type was waiting in ambush.

It might not be the smartest plan, but Aron just couldn't let that guy and his fire pokémon get away Scott free for treating its bronzor friend like that. They had been playing like any other day when the disk-like pokémon got carried away on its rolling half pipe. Aron's stubby feet had a hard time keeping up, and by the time it had come around the bend Bronzor was already engulfed in fire lying motionless on the ground. Aron huffed, eyes darting down to the embers still flickering across the navy blue body.

So the wild pokémon waited; silently, still as a statue. It needed the best advantage it could get against this group with that charmeleon around. Luckily for Aron it was the magnet pokémon that was curiously floating around to investigate its hunch. Almost in position... just about... there!

Aron dashed out and jumped at the magnemite without a squeak. Just the metallic thump of its feet slamming against the rocky terrain signaled its movement. Unfortunately for the well prepared pokémon Blitz was on the alert and managed to narrowly dodge the collision. Aron landed heavy on the ground, immediately turning and stomping its foot one more time on the ground as it glared at Tyler and his companions.

The attempted ambush by Aron came as quite a nice shock to Tyler as he had not seen an Aron in ages but he did know they were very territorial Pokemon. In this case however it seemed to want to avenge its defeated friend. As tempting as it was to scorch it to no end like the Bronzor Senorita Ramirez had other plans as she popped out of her Pokeball looking for a fight. The luchador bitd had more than proven herself on a number of occassions but fighting such a ticked off Aron was not something she had been able to do before and she wanted to see just how tough the little iron plated dinosaur was.

" " Hawwwwwluuuuuuchaaaaa" She cawed as she approached the dmall Pokemon ready to strike. Tyler wanted to keep training Flint but he knew how useful she might be in the next gym and on top of that her speed might help in future battles as well. " I cannot say for certain hoe intelligent it is for a birdbrain such as yourself to fight an Aron on its home turf but at the same time I am not going to stop you if you want to try." Senorita Ramirez was not even remotely discouraged by his words as she enjoyed a challenge and she knew she needed the practice as well. As she stood waiting on her orders she watched the Aron's every move knowing all too well how much damage it could do to her if she made a mistake.

She had not even mastered the signature move of her species yet and due to that she was really pushing her luck against a Pokemon that was part rock type, she had no other choice though as she really wanted to test herself here. " Alright birdbrain I hope you are ready for a tough fight. Aron can hit really hard so if I were you I would make sure it goes down on the first hit before it can even launch an attack. Use Karate Chop and show that Aron the might of Team Rocket!" Senorita Ramirez then extended her wings as she ran towards the small Pokemon. Once she was within striking distance she lifted up her right wing and made a chopping motion downwards aimed at the Aron's head. She put all of her power into the move hoping that even its high defenses would not be able to hold up against such sn effective move.

As Tyler's Hawlucha made her appearance, Aron seemed entirely unfazed. Either it had no idea what this opposing creature was, or it had a seriously inflated ego. Either way, its bravado would be little comfort to it. The tiny Steel type had just barely braced itself for battle when the brawling bird began to barrel b... onward toward her target. Raising her arm, the Fighting type delivered a swift Judo Karate Chop across Aron's forehead. A loud 'clink" sound resonated throughout the cave as the iron-clad Pokémon dropped to the ground faster than a ten tonne weight. Tyler's surroundings suddenly felt much less lively with that sole noise bouncing around. Meanwhile, Aron was most certainly not going to be able to complete its surprise attack. It lay unconscious, perhaps ruing the day it challenged this particular passer-by.

Tyler was not at all pleased by the Aron being such a weakling but it did mean there was one less Pokemon in his way to finding the Pokemon he was after. " I cannot say that Aron was even worth the effort to defeat but that just means we are one step closer and Senorita Ramirez is a tiny bit stronger as well." He said as the bird stood ready to battle more alongside Flint and Blitz. The battle had even gotten Höllenhund and Mania to get along for now so there was at least on less headache for him to deal with. He took a deep breath before he spoke to Blitz about his plan.

" Blitz I want you to shire your Flash in the darkest corners you can find, I have no doubts that we will find the Pokemon we are looking for if we look in every crack and crevice." Blitz then began shining its light in every dark corner it could find trying to draw out the one Pokemon they were looking for. As it did that Mania started to speak trying to pass the time until they got lucky. " I do not know anything about the behavior of the Pokemon we are after but it is a good idea to look in the absolute darkest places first and work your way from there. It certainly cannot hurt and the more we cross off the list the easier our search will become."

Tyler was not even listening however as he was too focused on the search. The Pokemon he was after would be a very popular one to sell on the black market and if he could secure one and breed it he could make a killing. Not only that but it could be useful in some of the upcoming gyms as well so he was not going to give up until he captured it. " I will say one thing, this Pokemon is very good at hiding and I guess given its type pretty smart as well so this is going to take some luck. Everyone be on your guard and tell me the moment you see anything else pop out." He said as Flint heard a noise in one of the dark corners. Blitz almost immediately reacted and pointed its light into the cornor hoping that luck would be on their side and that the light would draw out another Pokemon.

The spotlight turned and broke away the mystery of the darker corners of the cave Tyler was exploring. A soft crumble was coming from a particular nook, no doubt the signal that something was on its way to bother the rocket member. Flint's light found a wall and no immediate pokémon to see but... There was a hole at the base of the wall and that was where the noise was coming from.

What would come out? Whatever it was it was taking its sweet time, but that was possibly because it sounded a little big. The disturbance sounded like something grinding against multiple surfaces; not just the ground. The group awaited what would pop out to greet them, ready to strike as needed. Though, when the edge of something could be seen it stopped. The being seemed surprised by the light. All of a sudden it picked up pace, wriggling the last couple feet and popping out of the natural tunnel like a can of fake worms.

Tyler was at least glad his plan had worked to some extent. It was not the Pokemon he was after but it was better than nothing showing up at all and it would give Senorita Ramirez a chance to practice a bit more before Tyler took on the next gym. She was not too far behind Flint and most of the others now but both her and Blitz still needed to train more and a Dunsparce was perfect for her as they were weak to fighting type moves and they were not as fast as a higher leveled Hawlucha either both of which gave her quite the upper hand. Even so he just had to pick on the poor Pokemon a bit before the battle began. He wanted the snake to grown angry so that when it was defeated he could make it look even dumber than it already did.

" Well then, that is a bit of an unexpected find, you are not the one I am searching for either but fret not as you are still a great find for Senorita Ramirez to train with. Maybe the cries you unleash as she beats you to a pulp will draw out the Pokemon I am after and it not she can still get a little bit stronger by facing you. Arceus knows birdbrain can use all the help she can get." He said as Senorita Ramirez stepped forward ready to face the serpentine Pokemon without hesitation knowing that angering Tyler would be a far worse option than fighting Dunsparce would be. Personally she did not care what happened to the snake but if Tyler wanted her to bring it down she was going to do so just to save herself from Tyler's wrath.

" Ok birdbrain you seem like you are ready to go. Karate Chop might not be your most powerful move but in this case it should be very useful here again until you learn something more powerful. If my Pokedex is correct you should learn a more powerful fighting type attack the net time you gain a level so make it snappy" He said as Senorita Ramirez got ready to unleash her attack on the normal type snake. She wanted to get this over with as soon as she could and she knew that staying on Tyler's good side was always a good thing. She raised her wing up and charged at the young normal type holding nothing back as she went to strike her foe.
