Well, that was a surprise. Marshall had almost completely forgotten about the Bug Catching Contest, but here it was to rear its ugly head again. Still, training was training and this contest was a perfect excuse for that. That was, if he actually got round to it. He seemed to recall the last BCC going by in almost no time. That was strange, to say the least. He hadn't won, and he had only picked up... something. He had already traded it away, whatever it was. Anyway. That wasn't important. What was, however, was getting to the Contest venue tout suite.
"C'mon already! I don't wanna be late!" Marshall whined, slightly under his breath. The driver didn't seem to notice, or at least decided not to reply. Fortunately for both of them, the wait wasn't much longer at all. In a few moments, the bright lights of Goldenrod were dancing across the taxi's chassis. Dropping Marshall off, the cab driver couldn't be quicker to speed back off into the distance. Perhaps he had heard after all.
Regardless of all that, here Marshall was. The National Park, yet again. He stood outside the grand-looking entrance in mild bemusement. As with last time, there were various posters and banners heralding the beginning of the BCC. Marshall really didn't know why this contest was such a big deal to anyone. It was just trainers catching Pokémon. The usual stuff for a trainer, truth be told. But, Marshall thought, whatever works for them. He had other things to think about.
"C'mon out, pal!" the young trainer called, pulling out Brünnhilde's ball. The Stufful burst out of her container happily, purring up toward her master as she materialised. She hadn't battled in a little while, so this was a nice treat for the Normal type. But Marshall wasn't going to waste any time. Not this time around. Onward he marched, not so much as beckoning for Brünnhilde to follow. She knew she was coming too, after all.
THIS TIME WE WILL FINISH THE CONTEST! And by "we" I mean "I".

Sport Balls Left: 15 1/5 Encounters Wurmple [Shield Dust]: Normal Brünnhilde [Fluffy]: Normal A soft rustle in the grass broke its way into Brünnhilde's side; the tiny little bug so disoriented from the sudden burst in activity around the place. It squeaked apologetically and backed up. 5|lOYmes1-421-42

First up on the chopping block, a Wurmple. Wurmple. Wurmple. It had to be a Wurmple. How incredibly lacklustre.
"Alright, um, Tackle I guess?" the slightly dejected Marshall commanded. He'd forgotten how variable Bugs were with regards to strength. This was a helpful reminder, if nothing else.

BCC Encounter Wurmple LV 19 HP 62%
| Brünnhilde LV 18 HP 96%
|
Sport Balls Left: 15 1/5 Encounters Wurmple [Shield Dust]: Normal Brünnhilde [Fluffy]: Normal Despite the unsure command Brünnhilde still obeyed. It was only a wurmple after all. The minuscule caterpillars normally didn't pose any kind of challenge so it wouldn't matter what they did. Brünnhilde rushed forward and bashed into the bug pokémon. Of who returned with a poisonous sting, jabbing out as the stufful retreated. It was just a grazing blow.

Yep, nothing to be remotely worried about. This'd be over quickly, then Marshall could get back to his search. He still wasn't sure what he was looking for, though.
"Another Tackle, pal," Marshall commanded, slightly more authoritatively than last time. At the very least, the battle was a warm up. He had to look on the bright side, after all.

BCC Encounter Wurmple LV 19 HP 9%
| Brünnhilde LV 18 HP 89%

Sport Balls Left: 15 1/5 Encounters Wurmple [Shield Dust]: Normal Brünnhilde [Fluffy]: Normal Brünnhilde wasted no time in charging forward to deliver another brutal tackle attack upon the bug pokémon. This time wurmple didn't just get butted over, but found itself thrown under and trampled as the stufful continued by. The small bug was rather dizzy, but it managed to get up. When Brünnhilde was trotting back toward Marshall the wild pokémon made a desperate fling toward her, but its own tackle attack was mostly repelled by the bear's natural floof.

Tackle was the last move this little bug would make, but the fluff-covered Stufful absorbed it with ease. Marshall had to admit, this little thing was trying. It was definitely trying. Unfortunately, 'trying' was hardly going to cut it here. One last move should end it, then Marshall could carry on.
"Tackle once again," came the order, slightly more colour in Marshall's tone as he uttered it this time. The match seemed to be over, and at least the Wurmple had some spirit to it.

I know I said I was sleeping but I just remembered this. One post can't hurt, and this needs speeding through. I'll finally have free time after tomorrow... finally. So these might actually have substance then!
A second Pokemon soon emerged. This one was... a Butterfree, if Marshall recalled. Bug/Flying. The boy frowned. That might be a problem. Still, it was at least something challenging this time around. Marshall wasn't going to play games when a well-timed Gust could actually end his competition right here.
"Alright, Brünnhilde. This one's a tough one, so watch out. Tackle, twice!" Marshall called out, hoping to end things as quick as possible (and totally not because Noerd suddenly remembered Running Shoes exist).

Knowing that they had had rather bad luck with encountering anything so far and they were running out of time, the prompt bear immediately set to charging forward and tackling into the hovering bug. It didn't matter to her that it was flying. Just like against Falkner she wasn't about to let something so trivial stop the juggernaut she was. Butterfree wasn't all to happy about being knocked out of the sky, returning with a wave of psychic energy. Brünnhilde did her best to steel herself, having expected a gust or something anyways, and managed to do an okay job considering but the bug's attack still hit home pretty hard. Brünnhilde huffed and shook off the dizzying effect of Butterfree's attack, however, before she could build up speed for another tackle she found herself surrounded by a cloud of yellow spores. She gasped. The absolutely wrong thing to do as she ended up in-taking a bunch of the spores and feeling a numbness overtake her. Her muscles stopped responding as they should and made her sluggish. But... With a furrow of her brow and a dead set determination to get past this bug and back into the contest searching for Marhsall, Brünnhilde managed to get her legs moving for another tackle. Butterfree was taken aback, panicking slightly and managing to get nowhere before the bulky bear slammed into it once again. Brünnhilde grew to LV 22 and gained +1 Happiness! (+6) BCC Encounter Grubbin LV 15 HP 100%
| Brünnhilde LV 22 HP 62%

Sport Balls Left: 15 3/5 Encounters Grubbin [Swarm]: Normal Brünnhilde [Fluffy]: Paralyzed As the two moved away from the angry bush of bugs to continue searching the park before the contest ended, they would be greeted with the soft grunts and munches of a bright white bodied bug that suddenly appeared as they broke through a patch of tall grass. It blinked up at them, ignoring the shoe that nearly squished it underfoot, munching away on something. Shineh? xdeTLNr21-42
A tone rang over the speakerphones of the park: Attention! The BCC will be ending soon so don't waste any time hunting those bugs! BCC ends Jun 4th, so you have a few extra days Noerd ! 1-42

wait wut... I am blind, apparently. Ta, Lam! ^^;
"Oh great, another time out's comin'." For some reason, Marshall just couldn't catch a break. Still, he hadn't exactly seen anything worth picking up, so all this was right now was a bit of training. He could cope with that. "Quick, Brünnhilde, let's see if we can get at least one more KO out of this, huh? Gimme a couple o' Tackles, would ya?" Grubbin wasn't exactly the winner he was looking for in this contest... what a surprise there.

It was quite the struggle now. Between being paralyzed, trying to rush, and having mud flung in her eyes there was all manner of things working against her. But she was determined to get Marshall through this contest. She wasn't even quite aware of everything she was doing at this point as she tried to move forward, vision blurred. Grubbin seemed just as confused, and that may have been what made this possible at all. The wild bug was so baffled by the determined screaming it didn't move, allowing Brünnhilde to trample over it. Grubbin retaliated with a desperate bite, but that just attached it to her legs and ended up doing more damage to it when she resumed the tackling. Brünnhilde grew to LV 23 and gained +1 Happiness! (+7) She would like to learn Payback; forget an old move? BCC Encounter Kakuna LV 10 HP 100%

The Grubbin fell as easily as it seemed like it might. Marshall sighed, kicking up some of the earth beneath his soles. Experience was good, but perhaps he'd made a mistake by picking his Stufful for this. Mind you, what other options did he have? This was Goldenrod, wasn't it? He couldn't bring a half-baked team.
Brünnhilde, on the other hand, was much less confident. The paralysis wracking her body, she tried her best to keep to her master's side. In almost no time, Marshall was calling out another order. The Stufful wasn't going to get a rest. Not for a while yet.
"A Kakuna, eh? Two Tackles, you know the drill by now!" Kakuna might be a little tougher, the youngster thought, but it was hardly a 'threat'. And, again, not worth paying any mind to.

TRAMPLED INTO THE GROUND, Poor KakunaBrünnhilde gained +1 Happiness! (+8) BCC Encounter Cutiefly LV 16 HP 100%
| Brünnhilde LV 23 HP 51%

Sport Balls Left: 15 5/5 Encounters Cutiefly: Normal Brünnhilde [Fluffy]: Paralyzed Circling around them a tiny little thing looking like a cotton ball with wings stopped and admired the ferocity and determination of the colorful bear. It was hard not to take notice with all the noise and trampling. Brünnhilde looked like some sort of frog pouncing on this or that, only interrupted briefly but the jarring muscle spasms caused by the paralysis. The cutiefly looked down at Marshall and his fighting getup, intrigued by the fashion. Compared to the usual visitors he was like nothing it'd ever seen around here for bug catchers. Shineh? Cutiefly. It finally happened. The Fairy Type had come to play. It had taken a while, but now Marshall had to deal with one of these buggers. And time was of the essence. He looked down at his paralysed Pokémon, suddenly realising just how much she'd been fighting to get her attacks through. Well, this was his last encounter anyway. Might as well get the capture over with.
"Alright, stand back! We're catching this one, at least." And at that, Marshall whipped out a ball before throwing it Cutiefly-wards.
