[Venominon]

After paying a visit to the Dark Cave, and capturing a Zubat, Venom re-enters Violet City with his new Zubat hanging off his arm. Zubat wasn't really used to the light of the world beyond his former cave home, so he stayed hidden beneath his wings as he hung from Venom's arm, slowly adjusting to the light. Being that Venom had already been to the city earlier, he wasted no time sight seeing, and just made his way to the Violet City gym. It didn't take him very long to reach it, and once he did, he looked up at it with a confident grin on his face. His sister Janine had already told him a lot about the gym leader Falkner, since the two had kind of a rivalry between them, mostly about whose father was the better trainer. Venom wanted no part of their arguments, but he was always more then willing to do a favor for his beloved sister.


So, as he approached the gym doors, Venom vowed that this would be a victory not just for him, but for his sister as well. "For Janine." The Poison type trainer said to himself, and then pushed the gym doors open, making his way inside. As the gym doors slowly closed behind him, Venom took a quick look around the gym. From its layout, he could easily see that it was perfect for Flying type Pokémon. Luckily for Venom, he had a Flying type Pokémon of his own, still clinging to his arm. "My name is Venominon Ouroboros! Ive come for a gym battle against Falkner, the Violet City gym leader!" Venom called out with confidence in his voice, as his words echoed through the gym after he was finished.

Falkner had just finished sweeping the feathers from the gym floor as he heard Venom call out to him. He was not expecting another challenger so quickly but he had no intentions of turning down a challenger. " Welcome to the Violet City Gym Venominon, is it ok if I call you Venom? I am Falkner the gym leader and I hear by accept your challenge." He said as he tossed a Pokeball down at his feet revealing a Pidgey. The bird Pokemon was caught off guard that another trainer had come in to challenge them again so soon as well but it was going to try its best given the situation.

" As you may be aware if you manage to defeat me I will give you a Zephyr Badge along with a few other rewards but for now let's get this battle started. I shall be using my Pidgey first. He might be a rather common species but do not let that fool you, he has been trained a bit further than the usual Pidgey you will find in the wild. Which Pokemon will you use against me first?" He said not sure what to expect as trainers in Violet tended to have very different teams. He just secretly hoped that Venom was not going to use any electric types against him as he patiently waited for Venon to make his choice.

Falkner accepts your challenge, he sends out Pidgey (Level 10). Please select a Pokemon.

Once the gym leader showed himself, Venom's gaze met his, and Venom put his game face on right then and there. Before sending out his Pokémon though, the ninja was more then happy to answer his question. "Nice to meet ya. Just Venom is fine. You already know my sister though. Janine, the new Fuchsia City gym leader over in Kanto." Venom told Falkner, feeling like it was worth mentioning. Venom hoped that piece of information would make their battle more intense, and bring out the best in his Flying type opponent. Naturally, Venom would bringing his A-game as well.


Once the gym leader sent out his first Pokémon, Venom followed his lead, extending the arm his Zubat was hanging from. "I can see that your Pidgey is no slacker, so Ill use a Flying type of my own. Your up Zubat. Show em what you can do." At his command, the bat Pokémon suddenly spread his wings, and took flight, staring down Pidgey at eye level in the air. "Zubat!" This would be Zubat's first battle, and Venom was eager to see what his newest Pokémon could do for himself. So, without missing a beat, Venom called for his first attack. "Lets start things off with Wing Attack Zubat!" Zubat flew through the air with great speed, his wings a glow with Flying type power, as he flew right for the pigeon Pokémon. "Bat! Bat!"

Oh? So this is Janine's brother? Falkner thought to himself. This will surely make the battle more interesting... "Ah," The gym leader spoke to the challenging trainer. "So am I correct in assuming that would make Koga of the Elite Four your father? Surely this will be an interesting battle indeed!"

Falkner watched as the trainer sent out a Zubat, a choice similar to one that both Koga and Janine, poison-type trainers, would make. "An interesting choice of Pokemon," Falkner spoke to Venom, "a Zubat. A dual-typing, being both flying and poison-typed, gives the Pokemon both many strengths but also more weaknesses on the battlefield against a wide-variety of opponents."

Falkner smiled at the challenger. He was prepared for an intense battle. "Right," he said. "Let's get this battle started, shall we? Hit him with a speedy Tackle attack, Pidgey!" The pidgey let out a loud cry as he charged at the trainer's Zubat. The Pidgey knew how much this victory would mean to his trainer, a battle against a trainer that was raised by the world-renowned Koga. The Pidgey was determined to defeat this trainer in battle, no matter what it took, starting with the Zubat.

But even the speed of the Pidgey was not fast enough to surpass that of Venom's Zubat. The Zubat followed it's trainers direction, landing a powerful Wing Attack on the Pidgey. Falkner's Pidgey would not go out without a fight, however, especially not in this particular battle. Right after taking the strong hit, the Pidgey landed a tackle attack back onto the Zubat, tackling it onto the ground, dealing critical damage. "Great hit Pidgey!" Falker spoke to his Pidgey. Both were determined to win this battle.

"I see you've raised your Zubat well. I'm sure both Janine and Koga would be proud of you. But is it strong enough to finish the job?" Falkner asked the challenger.

Venom grinned right back at his opponent, nodding at his question to confirm his assumption. "Yup, you got it. Technically, Im adopted, but Janine is still my sister, and the Elite Four's Koga is my father. As well as my sensei." The ninja informed the gym leader, having spent most of his life training alongside Janine under Koga's guidance. Venom could see the determination in Falkner's eyes, which is exactly what he wanted to see from his opponent. For the honor of his sensei and fellow ninjas back home, there was no way Venom could afford to let himself be defeated now.

After Falkner had given his little breakdown of Venom's Zubat, Venom decided to make a little declaration of his own. "It may be true that Zubat has plenty of weaknesses that could be exploited during battle, and that it would've been smarter for me to use an Electric type Pokémon against a Flying type gym leader such as yourself, but I don't care." The Poison type trainer put on his best determined expression, raised his fist high into the air, and spoke with all of his pride. "I came to Johto to show the world the true power of the Poison type, and together, me and my team of Poison type Pokémon will do just that! We'll beat every trainer that comes our way, conquer all the gyms in Johto, and one day claim a spot in the Elite Four! Remember this name! We're Team Toxic!" Venom's words even filled his Zubat with tons of pride as a Poison type himself, as he shouted out right alongside his master. "Zu! Zubat!"

The first round of battle commenced shortly after that, as Zubat got right back up off the ground, not daring to give up for a second. Venom's grin never faded, even after watching his new Pokémon get sent flying down into the dirt. The ninja returned Falkner's smile after hearing his kind words, as he hoped Janine and Koga would be proud of all he was doing and was going to do in the future. "Thanks, but this battle is far from over. Lets give em one more Wing Attack Zubat! Send them crashing down this time!" Zubat may have been injured, but Venom's speech from before lit a fire in the small bat Pokémon's heart and soul. "Zubat! Bat!" Zubat once again flew towards Pidgey with all the speed he could muster, ready to deliver the final blow against the pigeon Pokémon.

Falkner watched as the very passionate challenger announced his team's name as being Team Toxic. The determination Venominion showed filled Falkner with excitement. The passion this challenger for the Pokemon he fought alongside would take him far, Falkner knew. Even if Koga hadn't raised him. Falkner would most likely just be a very small milestone in Venom's journey. Falkner wondered if someday, Venom could perhaps surpass the skill as a trainer of both Janine and Koga? With such determination, and passion, there was quite a possibility there.

"Alright Pidgey, let's hit him with a Tackle attack again!" Falkner directed his Pidgey's attack. However, before the bird Pokemon even started its charge back at the challenger's Pokemon, the Zubat was back at it with another Wing Attack, sending the Pidgey right back onto the ground.

The next speedy blow from the Zubat did indeed send Falkner's Pidgey crashing down into the Gym's floor. The attack was enough to leave the Pidgey fainted. "Pidgey come back!" Falkner said as he returned his weak and fainted Pidgey. "You may have bested my Pidgey, but I have saved my best Pokemon for last!" Falkner grinned. He had to have hope in his potential victory in this battle as a recently instituted gym leader. "Pidgeotto let's go!" Falkner tossed his Pokeball into the air very showingly, releasing the evolved flying-type out of it as the Pidgeotto let out a loud cry into the gym. "Now this was a fight I expected from a trainer raised by Koga. But how will your Zubat fare against my evolved and speedy Pidgeotto?"

As the two trainers of Poison and Flying type Pokémon stared each other down, Venom's thoughts were very similar to Falkner's. It had always been Venom's goal to surpass Janine and Koga, and make the Poison type's true power known to the entire world. All under the proud name of Team Toxic. A title that Venom knew would become known the world over, at least that was his dream. It was true that Falkner was only the first of many stepping stones Venom would have to take in order to make that dream a reality, but the ninja still held a great deal of respect for the Flying type gym leader. The same could be said for all future opponents Venom would face to make his dream come true as well. His name might mean "King of Poisonous Snakes", but Venom himself was no snake.

After Zubat's attack had finished off Falkner's Pidgey, Venom grinned once more, letting Zubat land on his arm again. "Not bad for your first battle Zubat. Thanks so much." Zubat hung upside down from his trainer's arm, smiling his best smile at him, happy to receive his praise. "Bat. Bat." However, upon hearing the sound of Falkner's voice, both trainer and Pokémon faced their opponent once again. Venom and Zubat watched as Falkner's Pidgeotto took flight, looking much stronger then the Pidgey that had just been grounded. Losing his grin, and taking a moment to think, Venom decided to recall Zubat back to his Dusk Ball for now. "Zubat return and get some rest."

Venom placed Zubat's Dusk Ball away in his pocket, and grabbed a new Poke Ball in its place, getting his grin back as he did. "The real battle starts now. Time for you to see why Koga gave me the name Venominon. Ekans go!" Venom tossed his Poke Ball like it was a shuriken, aimed perfectly at the center of the battlefield. The second it hit the ground, the ball opened, and a large serpentine Pokémon emerged, rattling her tail as a way of displaying her strength. "Ekans!" With his trusty Ekans now on the field, Venom makes his first command for her. "Lets make this two for two! Ekans use Glare!" Ekans obeyed her master without question, and glared right at her foe as if Pidgeotto was her prey, trying to paralyze the bird Pokémon. "Ekans!"

Falkner watched as the challenger sent out another Poison-typed Pokemon. Even the way the trainer tossed the Pokeball showed Falkner the passion Venominon had for his Pokemon, and their bond that they shared. This time, it was a snake Pokemon, Ekans, that the trainer released. "Ah," Falkner said. "Sending out another Poison-type Pokemon to face my Pidgeotto, eh?" Falkner knew the intimidating Ekans would reduce the attack of his Pokemon. "My Pidgeotto will not be going down without a fight!"

"Now Pidgeotto!" Falkner yelled out to his Pokemon. "Let's lower it's accuracy a bit, shall we? Hit it with a Sand Attack!" The Pidgeotto let a loud cry into the air as it flew at the challenger's Ekans with very extreme speed, twisting around above the gym floor as it flew. Right before the bird Pokemon could come in contact with the snake Pokemon, it kicked sand up from the ground towards the Ekans and then quickly flew backwards to prevent getting hit by a close ranged attack from the Ekans. "How well will your Ekans make do with a lower accuracy stat," asked the gym leader to his challenger. If Falkner had any shot at winning the battle against the Elite Four-raised challenger, it was only in lowering his opponent's Pokemon's accuracy. "Great hit!" Falkner said to his prized Pidgeotto as it landed in front of him facing the Ekans. It was a perfect shot of hitting the sand into the Ekan's face, to perhaps blind it from hitting the Pidgeotto so easily. "Pidgeotto!" Pidgeotto gave a very determined look at the Ekans and its' trainer.

The Ekans then followed its own trainer's instruction, giving a rather menacing and very intimidating glare towards Falkner's Pidgeotto. The poison-type challenger had used Glare, a status-inflicting move. It something similar to a strategy that both Koga and Janine would commonly use in battle, using status-inflicting moves to weaken and eventually defeat their opponents. Glare would inflict a Paralysis effect upon Falkner's Pidgeotto. The status ailment could potentially make Pidgeotto unable to attack, but also would cut his speed stat in half, something Falkner was planning to rely upon as he attempted to win the battle against the very strong challenger.

"A smart choice of attack," The Violet City gym leader said to his challenger. "Inflicting a paralysis ailment upon my Pidgeotto not only makes it unable to attack on occasion, but also cuts its speed in half!" The challenger had hit a weakness in the flying-type gym leader's Pokemon's speed. "Even though my Pidgeotto is an evolved Pokemon, It likely will not be able to keep up with the speed of your un-evolved Ekans now, giving you an upper-hand." The way the trainer battled.. There was no doubt that this trainer was raised by Koga. It was a very smart battle strategy that Venom was using. It was a strategy that, along with the challenger's passion for battling alongside Pokemon, would take him very far. Falkner grinned at his challenger. It had been a while since the gym leader had enjoyed a battle quite this much.

Even though neither Pokémon had caused any real damage to the other this round, Venom's grin remained. The Poison type trainer's battle plan was working well so far, but he still worried that Ekans' lowered accuracy might present a problem later on. Even so, it was crystal clear that Venom and Ekans held the advantage. Now all they had to do was keep hold of it. "Good job Ekans! Can you keep going?!" Venom asked his Pokémon, to which she glanced at him and gave him a quick nod. "Ekans." The sand in her eyes did little to keep the snake Pokémon down, as all she wanted was to make her master happy by helping him win his first gym badge.

"Good attitude Ekans! Stay strong! We can pull this off!" Venom responded to his Pokémon's answer, then took another look at Falkner and his Pidgeotto. The ninja didn't need Falkner to tell him about the effects of Ekans' Glare attack, since Venom already knew all about them, and much more thanks to all of his training with Janine and Koga. With the stage set just the way he wanted it, Venom decided that now was the time to attack. "Now's our chance Ekans! Go get your dinner! Use Bite, and then hit it with another Bite back to back!" Since Dig was no good against a Flying type Pokémon, this was the best attack move Ekans had. However, this was also part of Venom's strategy.

With Pidgeotto's lowered speed from its paralysis, Ekans was guaranteed to get the first strike. And with Bite's added effect of flinching, this would easily make a deadly combination. "Ekans! Ekans!" Ekans once again listened to her master, and slithered as fast as she could towards Pidgeotto. Once she reached the ground below the bird Pokémon, she jumped high into the air, and opened her mouth up wide. There was still some sand in her eyes from Pidgeotto's Sand Attack, but Ekans was proving to be just as determined as Venom, and was more then willing to give it her best shot.

The intense battle between the determined Poison-type wielding challenger and the Violet City gym leader surged on, as the challenger's poisonous snake Pokemon landed its' first actual damage onto the Pidgeotto with a large bite. It made the Pidgeotto falll to the ground of the gym floor, but it was quickly back up on its feet again. The attack did not amount of severe damage to the bird Pokemon. "Quick, Pidgeotto!" Falkner said to his Pokemon. "Hit the Ekans with another Sand Attack!" If the challenger wanted to use status moves to weaken the Pidgeotto, well, two could play at that game, and Falkner planned to use that to his advantage. Reducing the snake Pokemon's accuracy could be one of the only ways to come out of this challenging battle victoriously.

The Pidgeotto once again kicked sand up into the Ekans' eyes, but Falkner's evolved Pokemon appeared to be slower now after having taken the Glare from the Ekans. Before the bird Pokemon could escape the Ekans, however, it was able to land a strong Bite attack upon Falkner's Pidgeotto. "Hang in there Pidgeotto!"

After the snake Pokemon had bit Falkner's Pidgeotto a second time, the Pidgeotto quickly flew back into the air and landed far from the Ekans to allow itself to heal. "Roost," the leader said. "It is a flying-type Pokemon move that allows its user to land from the skies for a moment to heal up mid battle! It is a perfect move for use in a tight situation and your Pokemon has lost a little health." Falkner wiped a bit of sweat off of his face. The battle had been an intense one, and could potentially still be far from over. The Violet City Gym Leader enjoyed it none the less. "My Pidgeotto and I will not go down without a fight, until the very finish! Pidgeotto was raised before me by my father, handed down to me from him. Pidgeotto is my partner and the bond we share will not be taken down easily. But I see now, that the bond between you and your Pokemon is very strong, Venom. That will take you far."

As soon as the snake and bird Pokémon had finished trading blows, Venom's grin disappeared once more. That round had not gone the way he hoped it would, and Ekans' attacks didn't manage to inflict very much damage. After Ekans' accuracy was lowered by another stage, Venom grit his teeth slightly, starting to get a little nervous himself. However, the ninja still had one major thing going for his side. Ekans still hadn't sustained any damage herself, and in a battle between two Pokémon who're as closely matched as these two, that could end up making a world of difference. Even so, Venom knew that he and Ekans would have to be extra careful from here on out.

After his opponent had finished speaking, Venom responded to him once more. "I know what Roost does, and I figured at least one of your Pokémon must've known it." This may have been Venom's first gym battle, but he was far from a beginner. The Poison type trainer had spent years studying all different types of Pokémon, as well as the moves they could learn. Still, Venom also knew that Roost would prove to be another big problem for him and his Pokémon in this battle. "We can still do this Ekans! Use Bite again!" Not even close to giving up, Venom decided to give his strategy one more try. "Ekans!" Even with more sand in her eyes, Ekans did her best to zero in on her feathered foe, ready to pound in another Bite attack.

"Now, Pidgeotto!" Falkner said to his Pidgeotto, trying to get his feathered Pokemon back with the upperhand. "Let's hit that Ekans with a Mud-Slap attack!" The Violet City gym leader and his Pidgeotto were putting all of the effort they could muster into this battle against their challenger. The challenger's Poison-type Pokemon were proving to put up quite the fight, and Falkner knew that with the bond the trainer had with his Pokemon, they would likely keep that fight going until the very last moment of the battle.

Falkner's Pidgeotto found itself unable to move though, after having been affected by the Ekans' Glare. "C'mon, Pidgeotto! You got this, hang in there!" But the Pidgeotto was still unable to pull off its' move at all. And with its speed already lowered while being paralyzed, Venominon and his Ekans would appear to have the upper hand this round. Quickly, even after having been affected by the sand in its eyes, the Ekans bit onto the bird Pokemon, dealing even more damage to the Pidgeotto. "That dealt quite a bit of damage to my Pidgeotto, but will that be enough to win?" Falkner asked eagerly to his challenger. "You and your Pokemon certainly fight the good fight, but I would expect nothing less from you though, a trainer raised by Koga. I can't say I've ever felt quite this much adrenaline in a challenger's gym battle before now." Falkner openly grinned at his challenger. It would be interesting to see who would win the Pokemon battle.

With his strategy finally starting to work, Venom's grin returned. He and Ekans were finally starting to gain some significant high ground over their Flying type opponents, but they both kept in mind that they hadn't won just yet. Ordinarily, Venom would've relied on a Poison type move and status affliction to get the job done, rather then paralysis. But since Poison Sting was currently Ekans' best and only Poison type move, this current strategy would have to do. The ninja knew he'd definitely have to teach his Pokémon some better Poison type moves in the future though, otherwise his efforts to show the world the true power of the Poison type might not have as big of an impact as he'd like. Regardless, Venom pushed those thoughts aside for now, staying focused on the battle in front of him.


Venom was glad to see that Falkner and Pidgeotto weren't willing to just admit defeat and give up, as he wanted his first gym battle to be one to remember. "I guess we'll just have to find out, wont we Ekans?" Venom asked his serpentine Pokémon, then she started to rattle her tail just like before, showing off her unwavering strength. "Ekans. Ekans." Venom was hoping Bite would have more of an effect then it did, but since it was still Ekans' most powerful move right now, it was their best shot at finishing Pidgeotto off. "Keep the pressure on high Ekans! Use Bite once more!" Still doing her best to ignore the sand in her eyes, Ekans lunged at Pidgeotto with her big mouth open wide once again. "Ekans!"

The battle between Falkner's Flying-type Pokemon and Venominon's Poison-type Pokemon raged on. The speed of the Ekans was still too much for the Pidgeotto to match while being inflicted by the paralysis. The snake Pokemon lunged at his Pidgeotto, and the Pokemon was unable to get away from the attack. The bites had managed to deal a large amount of damage to the Pidgeotto. The Ekans still seemed to be able to land its attacks with perfect accuracy, despite having been hit by the Pidgeotto's Sand Attack two times already.

"Alright," Falkner said to his Pokemon. Pidgeotto! Let's hit his Ekans with a Mud-Slap attack! Fight through it, you can do it!" Falkner believed in the power of his Pokemon and his Pokemon trusted him. There bond was something that made Falkner have more of the qualifications to the gym leader role. The Pidgeotto flew back at the Ekans with newfound speed, seemingly as if the paralysis effect was unable to stop him, and slapped mud right onto its opponent's Pokemon. "Great job!" Falkner said to his Pokemon. The Pidgeotto flew back and landed right back in front of its trainer, keeping its eyes on the Ekans.

Falkner's attention was now on his challenger and what he would do next. "Mud-slap is a lot better than Sand Attack," the gym leader said to Venom. "It deals damage while still lowering your opponent Pokemon's accuracy! You have dealt a great deal of damage to my Pidgeotto." Falkner kept the same grin he had held on since the intense battle started, the battle against this very passionate and very interesting challenger.

After Ekans had been hit with Mud Slap, Venom began to get nervous. Not only did this move lower Ekans' accuracy even more, but it was also a Ground type move. True, it might not be a very powerful one, but it still made Venom start to sweat a little. Mainly because Ground types are one of the Poison type's greatest weaknesses. He and Ekans had been lucky up to now, but trying to land another hit when Ekans' accuracy is this low might be pushing it. Gritting his teeth, Venom took a moment to consider his options, trying to come up with a new plan of attack. After a full minute had gone by, the ninja finally came to a decision.

"Its no good Ekans! Come back!" Venom called out to his partner, before pulling out her Poke Ball, and calling her back to it, removing her from the battle for the time being. "You did a good job Ekans. Thank you my friend." Venom said to her through the Poke Ball, then put her ball away for later. The Poison type trainer then grabbed the same Dusk Ball from before, and tossed it into the air over the battlefield. "Zubat, take over! I need your help!" From the Dusk Ball, the same bat Pokémon that defeated Falkner's Pidgey emerged, flying above the battlefield just as he had done at the start of the battle. "Zubat!" Venom started to calm down now, knowing that as a Flying type, Mud Slap wouldn't work on Zubat. Venom just hoped that Zubat had enough strength left after his bout with Pidgey to finish what Ekans started.

Taking a deep breath to try and calm his nerves even further, Venom made his next command, continuing the battle. "Lets win this for Ekans! Use Bite attack Zubat!" The ninja decided to keep his previous strategy going, since both Ekans and Zubat knew how to use Bite. "Bat! Bat!" Gathering his strength, Zubat flew straight for Pidgeotto, his fangs bared and ready. "We can still do this! Team Toxic is still far from beaten!" Venom made another declaration, once again showing off his unwavering passion to his Flying type opponent.
