As with the previous victims of Salandit's poison gas, Taillow could feel the vitality drain from its body. Increasing its critical hit ratio had been a wise decision. While the odds were stacked against it, maybe it could win if Venom and his Salandit slipped up. It was a long shot but newbie trainers were bound to make mistakes.

Salandit received orders and immediately unleashed a breath of fire on the young bird. Taillow squealed and tried to shake it off, angrily throwing itself at the lizard. It forced its beak into its foe's body in pecking motion, which did a surprisingly large amount of damage. Its rage was interrupted, however, by a rush of poison running through its body. It let out another squeal and attempted to retreat back. But before it could escape, Salandit released another powerful breath of fire, knocking it to the ground and rendering it unable to battle.

With her fire power, Salandit was able to wrap this battle up far faster their all of her previous battles. And just like with all of her previous battles, after she'd claimed victory, she let out a big yawn. "Salaaaaaa…" After that, the toxic lizard Pokémon crawled over to her trainer, climbed up one of his legs, made it up to his shoulder, then curled up in his scarf, and dozed off in seconds. Venom didn't complain or try to stop her even a little, knowing that his shoulder had become her favorite place to nap. The ninja gave her a smile, and gently petted the top of her head, very happy that she'd won that last battle so effortlessly. Venom then took a moment to pull out his PokeDex, and check out Salandit's new stats, and potential new moves.

The Poison type trainer was pleasantly surprised to see that in addition to gaining two levels, Salandit had learned how to use Dragon Rage. "That's it. Your ready Salandit. Its time." Venom whispered to himself, not wanting to wake her up, as he put his PokeDex back in his pocket. This is exactly what the purple haired trainer was waiting for, and he couldn't wait for what he had planned next. So, without missing a beat, Venom turned, left Cherrygrove City, and headed right back out onto route 29. Now that Salandit had gotten into fighting shape, and learned some stronger moves, it was finally time for Venom and his team to take on the Alolan trial he'd heard about. Venom's knowledge of the Alola region was still very limited, so he wasn't sure what to expect from this trial, but as he got a confident grin on his face, Venom couldn't wait to find out.
