Escape to the Ruins (First Chamber)(F)

As Blitz did it's job perfectly and Tyler captured the Rockruff he was very glad the magnet did not mess anything up. Blitz may not of been as powerful as some of Tyler's stronger Pokemon but the magnet's thunder wave and sonicboom combo was very useful for capturing Pokemon. " If only you were this useful all the time Blitz then there wouldn't be any problems. I am sure we will be able to sell this Rockruff for a pretty penny when we get back to town. For now though we will keep searching to see if any other worthwhile Pokemon are around here." He said to the magnet as it tried to keep a lookout for any approaching Pokemon.

As Blitz flew around it suddenly bumped into a small pillar with a large hole in it causing the pillar to topple exposing an egg that had been resting in the hole. " Are you trying to kill me Blitz? I ought to, hang on that egg looks very odd indeed. You might just have saved your skin with this discovery. An egg being hidden in such an odd spot has to contain a rare Pokemon." As Tyler scooped up the egg the strange markings on it reminded him of a Pokemon known as Riolu that he would see from time to time in Blackthorn.

He wasn't entirely sure as he was no expert in Pokemon eggs but that didn't stop him from hoping he had hit the jackpot. Such a rare Pokemon would be a great fit for his team and he wanted to hatch the egg as soon as he could. " Oh I do hope I am right about what this egg is, it is like winning the Johto Lottery ten times over if it is. Blitz you will be on my team for life as your reward if this ends up being a Riolu egg." With the egg safely in his backpack he decided to still look for anything else good before he set off just in case his recent luck could get any better.

Blitz thought it knew what Tyler wanted it to do but the young man decided to swap his tactic around this time as he didn't want to waste a turn if he ran into a Pokemon that couldn't be paralyzed. " Blitz use Sonicboom on whatever comes out next. Everything so far that we have met can be paralyzed but I wouldn't be surprised if one or two species here are immune to it and your Sonicboom should be just weak enough to not knock anything out in a single blow."

As the Shinx stepped out from a nearby bush Tyler was quite ecstatic as he had not seen one around the ruins yet. He figured it must be a very rare Pokemon after going so long looking for it. The news got even better as Blitz scored a direct hit with it's Sonicboom causing enough damage to the young feline that capturing it should not be too hard once the time was right. Given how long it took to find such a majestic Pokemon however Tyler had to gloat first in celebration of his amazing find. " You hid pretty well for all this time but in the end you were no match for my hunting skills."

As he took his sweet time looking for another Great Ball Blitz kept an eye out on the Shinx making sure it did not try to flee in desperation and Blitz knew Tyler would have it scrapped it that were to happen. After digging for what felt like an eternity Tyler finally found a Great Ball but still chose to gloat more instead of throwing the ball as he wanted to scare the poor feline half to death before capturing it. " I sure hope you enjoyed your freedom for all this time as you will not be free for much longer. After looking so hard I am going to capture you one way or another."

Blitz was bored out of its mind by now as it knew Tyler was not going to have it use another attack but it still waited for him to do something. Just as the magnet thought they would be there all day Tyler finally got bored of taunting the young Shinx as he got ready to toss the Great Ball and try his luck. " Alright I think I have waited long enough to let your new reality set in. Blitz keep your eyes on this Shinx and make sure it stays in place when I toss this Great Ball." Blitz then floated over to Shinx and blocked the felines line of vision to Tyler. It only moved out of the way when the ball was an inch away allowing the ball to hit the feline.

Tyler then waited and hoped between intimidation and the damage Sonicboom had caused the feline would not fight against the capture. Blitz did as well only because it was hoping to move onto another area that it could keep it's distance from Tyler since the ruins did not have a whole lot of room to maneuver without getting close enough for Tyler to get a hold of it.

As the Great Ball captured Shinx with practically no resistance Blitz was very relieved. The magnet had done a great job distracting the Shinx and the look on Tyler's face made it clear he was proud of the magnet for his work. " Good work Blitz, I might just have to buy you something nice after all for helping me catch such a rare Pokemon. This trip has been a fantastic haul but I think we should get a breeding pair of Shinx so I can make even more money." He said as the magnet wished it could sigh as it thought the nightmare of staying in the ruins was finally over.

Before Tyler did anything else he decided to nickname the rather unlucky feline so it would not question him being its trainer. " I think I will call you Scar as it will be quite fitting if you defy me as I promise you that you will get a scar with each and every display of disobedience." After deciding on its nickname Tyler turned his attention back towards Blitz and his idea of capturing another Spinx as part of his breeding idea. Anything they encountered in the process would make for good training for Blitz to further prove its worth.

As Blitz and Tyler searched for whatever would pop out next Tyler started to daydream about his plans for selling Pokemon for huge profits Blitz noticed Tyler's backpack move a little as a small amount of light started to come out of the egg. The magnet knew the egg was going to hatch at any moment as the light grew stronger every few moments. Blitz tried its best to alert Tyler to his egg being moments from hatching but Tyler was too busy looking for another Pokemon to notice.

" Where are you little critters? I know there has to be more of your out here and your friend would like you to come along with him." He whispered thinking maybe one of Scar's friends had seen him be captured. Tyler then had another idea pop into his head as he waved for Blitz to get into position. The magnet reluctantly obeyed as it lined u in front of Tyler before Tyler gave the order to attack again. " Blitz like before I want you to use Sonicboom on whatever comes out next. We will make these cowards pay for wasting my time." Blitz then got ready to fire when Tyler saw a light reflecting off of Blitz's armor. He thought he was seeing things but it was far too bright for sunlight and was pulsating rapidly.

" It looks like that egg we found is already about to hatch, he is hoping I am right about its species." He then focused on Blitz hoping the energy from the battle would finally trigger his egg to hatch.

As the Natu jumped out in front of Blitz the magnet Pokemon fired off the Sonicboom scoring a direct hit on the bird leaving it with only a small amount of health left. The thought then crossed into his mind that he could try and capture the bird to have a breeding pair of them as well but they seemed far more common than Shinx that it wasn't worth the effort to capture another one. " If only Natu were not so common I might try and capture you but you are not even worth my time at this point." He said as he looked at the strange looking bird.

The only thought on Tyler's mind was which move he should use to finish the bird off as Sonicboom was not guaranteed to hit and Flash and Thunder Wave did not damage. Thundershock was not very powerful at all but as it would do super effective damage in this case there was no doubt in the young man's mind that it was the only reasonable choice of move to use. Before he made up his mind however he had to poke some fun at the odd looking bird as he could not resist picking on it before delivering the finishing blow.

" I still cannot believe I caught one of your species thinking it was rare, I feel like such an idiot now. I should have known such an ugly species would be common. If it were not for Blitz gaining experience I wouldn't even give you the time of day." Blitz then knew Tyler was in no mood to waste more time as he looked directly at the magnet and grinned. If Tyler's plan worked friend Natu would be on the menu tonight with Blitz being the head chef. Tyler snapped his fingers before pointing at Blitz to get the magnets undivided attention.

" Blitz I want you to fry this Natu like Kentucky Fried Pidgey dinner. Do not hold back at all as you show it your Thundershock and for your sake make sure it goes down and stays down." Blitz begrudgingly nodded as it turned to face the bird Pokemon before spinning its magnets to build up a small amount of electricity. Blitz hated the idea of taking out a Pokemon that was nearly harmless against it but it beat the alternative of facing Tyler's wrath. Once the magnets had stored enough electricity Blitz sent out an electric shock praying it would be enough to ut the bird out of its misery so they could look for another Pokemon.

As soon as the battle with Natu ended the egg Tyler had found had found became surrounded by blinding light. Mere seconds passed before the light morphed into the shape of a small canine standing up on it's hind legs and a blue aura around its front paws. Tyler was absolutely flabbergasted to have been correct about the species the egg belonged to but before he could say a word the creature spoke. " Huh? What is going on? Who are you and where am I?" The young Riolu said as Tyler grew a big grin a mile wide across his face. Such a young Riolu would make for the perfect partner.

" You just hatched for an egg I found in this knocked over pillar, I am Tyler your master and you are in the Ruins of Alph a location known for its mystical energy and mysterious hieroglyphs on some of the walls. It is no surprise your egg was here as your species is both rare and known for their aura powers." Tyler said as the young Riolu seemed to be quite overwhelmed by everything going on. After a few minutes passed the young Riolu finally spoke again still trying to figure out everything.

" What is a master and where are my parents? Why would my egg be placed here with no one to watch over it." Tyler saw this as the perfect moment to gain the young Riolu's trust as it struggled to grasp how everything worked. " A master is someone you obey unquestionably. As for your parents I have no idea but they must not have cared about you at all to leave you out here without a guardian or anything else to protect you. Don't worry thought as I know what you are capable of and unlike them I do not see you as worthless at all."

Before Tyler could say anything else he could hear the grass nearby starting to rustle and he knew his explanations would have to continue during a battle. " You are too young to battle yet so just keep an eye on Blitz and you might learn a thing or two." The Riolu's head started to spin but decided to play along for now. He had no where else to go and so far Tyler seemed pretty nice besides the master bit. He had no idea what a battle was either but the Magnemite getting ready to attack intrigued him. " Blitz use Sonicboom on whatever shows up." Tyler said as he hoped the young Riolu would not do anything dumb while watching the battle.

As the first part of the battle went by without any issues the young Riolu was still unsure of anything but how horrible the sound of the sonicboom was. " That noise was horrible, what was that? " He asked as Tyler smiled again. The more he could keep the Riolu from second guessing him the better and it would be good to train him about some of his partners moves so he could be familiar with them. " That was Blitz's Sonicboom, an attack that causes a set amount of damage regardless of level or defenses making it a great move to soften up a Pokemon to capture it. "

Tyler of course had no interest in capturing the Natu as he was soley after a single species and everything else was nothing more than target practice for Blitz. As Blizt waited for further orders the young Riolu started to ask even more questions as Tyler tried his best not to loose him temper around the curious newborn. As crazy as the questions were driving him he knew putting up with them would be worth it in the long run. " What do you mean by capture? Also why would anyone want to battle a wild creature such as this weird looking Pokemon? "

After taking a deep breath Tyler started to answer the young Riolu's questions hoping he might finally shut up for a while." To capture a Pokemon means to use a Pokeball of some kind in order to try and claim ownership of it. If the ball works a Pokemon is captured and belongs to the person who used the Pokeball. Capturing is benficial for both human and Pokemon as some Pokemon such as yourself only become stronger by bonding with humans. " The Riolu was deeply puzzled in thoughts by now but had stopped asking questions just in time for Tyler to notice Blitz was still waiting on orders.

He wasted no time in correcting that mistake hoping the batle would go his way so the young Riolu could learn a bit more. " I knew I was forgetting something, Blitz use Thundershock on that Natu. Hopefully things go well so we can keep looking for the Pokemon were are actually after. " After giving the magnet Pokemon its orders he looked over at the young Riolu who by now was staring off into the sky not even remotely paying attention to what was going on. Tyler knew he had his work cut out for him but with any luck the little bit of attention the Riolu had paid might have been enough to make him a bit stronger.

As Blitz dealt the finishing blow on Natu the young Riolu could feel his energy increase ever so slightly. He was still very weak by any standards but the tiny bit of attention he paid to the battle was the first step towards getting stronger. Tyler had no doubt it would be a tedious process as Riolu needed a maximum bond with their trainer before evolving and the young Riolu was just starting to get attached to him. " Well it looks like you learned a little bit there. It will take time before you will have the strength required to be of use for me but there is plenty of time to get you there."

The young Riolu finally started to pay attention again as it could also feel itself getting a tiny bit stronger. " I feel a tiny surge of energy going throughout all my body, I guess that is a good thing? I am still so confused." He said as Tyler had to think of what to say next. As intelligent as Riolu were he knew being a newborn it would not fully grasp anything for some time and trying to rush the process would not help at all as unlike some Pokemon there was no fast track towards gaining a Riolu's trust.

" Yes that is a very good thing, it means you leveled up and grew a bit stronger. Sometimes you will learn a new move when that happens as well which is another way to grow stronger." Tyler said to the young Riolu as Blitz continued to keep an eye out for any Pokemon coming their way. The magnet Pokemon was very pleased that the young Riolu was taking most of Tyler's attention off of it for a while as it meant less abuse it would have to suffer at least in the moment.

The peace did not last very long however as a patch of grass nearby started to shake and Tyler took notice. " Maybe this will be the one we are after. Blitz use Sonicboom on whatever jumps out." Tyler ordered before turning back towards the Riolu to give it some advice. " You will have to get used to loud noises at one point but for now cover your ears to make it less painful to hear." The young Riolu then covered his ears before talking again hoping the terrible noise would stop soon. " I hate that horrible noise. I don't know how anyone can stand being around such awful noises for any amount of time." As soon as he finished speaking the Riolu watched as Blitz fired off a Sonicboom.

As Tyler and the young Riolu looked on Blitz managed to score a direct hit on the Purrloin with it's Sonicboom giving it a huge upper hand. Like the Natu before it Tyler debated with himself about trying to capture it or not as it did seem to be a bit more rare than Natu but he quickly decided against the idea as he was running low on Pokeballs and he didn't know how many he would need to capture a breeding pair of the one he was after. Before he could order Blitz to attack again the Riolu decided to play another round of fifty two questions.

" Is there any other moves Blitz knows that aren't so terrifying? That noise is awful and Thundershock is kind of scary as well." Tyler took a moment and sighed as he once again answered the young Riolu's question. " Blitz does know other moves but Sonicboom and Thundershock are the best two it knows for now. Just like you as it gets stronger it will get better moves some of which are less noisy." He said as he grinded his teeth wondering just how many more questions the Riolu was going to ask him in the next five minutes.

The young Riolu was just about to ask another one when Tyler saw a glimmer of light near a pillar and he went to investigate. As he did he found a TM sitting on the ground containing the move Flash Cannon and another pillar with a hole in it. This hole was big enough to reach into and as he did he could feel a large egg shaped object within it. He grabbed the object the best he could and pulled it out amazed by what he had found " I just cannot stop winning today, now I found another egg but this one doesn't even remotely look like anything I have seen before."

As Tyler celebrated his amazing luck Blitz patiently waited for orders again waiting to deal the finishing blow on Purrloin. Tyler may have been on cloud nine but even that was not enough to stop him from finishing off the pesky feline with one final attack. " Ok Blitz I guess the fun times are now passed. Use your Thundershock on that Purrloin and let's wrap this battle up." Blitz then started to build up it's electricity to hopefully bring a swift end to the battle hoping that Tyler's good mood would last for a little while longer.
