Torad and Heke waved goodbye as Sara set out on her own path to fish in the great waterways that led out to the ocean. The windy air nipped at their skins, causing the performers to pull and tug on their clothing as they shook and shivered. They would each mutter something about needing to get somewhere much warmer, although the warm undercurrents that cut through the frigid winter environment made it hard to tell just how cold it was, as they fought and battled with the snow-touched region and caused some of the icier parts to melt. Wild Pokemon slipped and slid across the wet terrain. Furry brown beavers popped up out of their watery dens and sniffed the air nervously with their pink snouts as they eyed the world cautiously. They would inevitably dive back into their dam dens, with many jumping out of their homes entirely to swim away from the ‘supposed danger’ as soon as Sara cast her net out into the sea. Long, yellow fins zipped in different directions underneath the current’s edge. They would leap out with great fervor, slapping their tails haphazardly in the air, before landing back in the water with a loud splash! Something snagged the twenty-five year old’s line with a fierce tenacity. It caused the line to go taut, and would require the grey-haired trainer to fight back against the hidden beast that lurked just underneath the waterways. It was strong and mighty – possibly the toughest thing to latch onto Sara’s line, and promised to snap it in two if she wasn’t careful about how she reeled it back in. And when it would seem almost implausible for her to pull the creature up out of its watery depths, she would manage to snatch it up onto dry land. The most wondrous thing a novice fisherman could ever hope to catch stared back at her with its hard, rubbery texture. It’s a thick, dark-brown waterlogged boot that seemed only fitting to be worn by someone with rather large feet. Possible Bigfoot or his relative lost their shoe out here in the waterways. But one thing was for sure, it was by and large still just junk nonetheless. Aww, maybe next time? Sara found...someone's shoe?! Better luck next time, I suppose!

The weight, the strength. She had gone looking for food, but surely this would make a fine pokémon companion. Even on land, something this mighty, struggling as much as it was, must be a fearsome foe. Tartarus watched, its mouth almost drooling in anticipation. This surely was going to be a fine fight, or a fine meal, and Tartarus surely didn’t care which it was. Emboldened from their previous victory, they were ready to make quick work of whatever was on the other end of that line. After having won this fishing rod in a honest to goodness fishing competition where Sara broke all kinds of records despite never having fished before, now it was her chance to try it in the wild, and she was sure she was going to catch something incredible. “Hold…” Something in Sara’s mind said as she held the rod steadfast in her hand, reeling slowly as not to break the string.“HOLD…” Sara thought, her forehead and armpits starting to sweat as she held fast in a professional fishing post. “NOW!” Sara shouted out loud, leaning back with all her might. And there it was, the most glorious thing Sara had ever fished up. Wait… what the hell?Sara wiped her furrowed brow, now covered in a splatter of mud from the fishing encounter. The boot swing back and forth on the end of the fishing line. Size 18, no… 19? Who the hell has boots like these? It looked like the kind of boot that might fit on someone who was 15 feet tall. Sara glanced back into the water nervously, as if the owner might be down there, angry that someone had just snatched their boot off. “A…alright then…” Sara said, nervously attempting to get the boot off the end of the line. Suddenly, a flash of purple, and a streak of white. Sara was knocked backwards as Tartarus furiously engaged with the boot. “Is it a Pokémon?” Sara thought to herself nervously, the rattata looking deadly serious as it began to engage with the boot. Sara quickly dropped the fishing rod, and the boot started moving away, Tartarus having grasped it firmly in its fangs, and dragging as it aggressively charged the boot into a downed log. Sara dashed over to her bag, whipping out her pokédex and pointing it at the boot, Tartarus furiously swinging it in its mouth. Rattata’s picture popped onto the screen. "Cautious in the extreme, its hardy vitality lets it live in any kind of environment.“ The pokédex spouted out. “This thing… is a Rattata like Tartarus? Must be a strange Johto Variant!” Sara said nervously to herself. “Alright Tartarus! Use your new attack! Focus Energy!” Sara shouted, pointing commandingly toward the boot. Tartarus quickly detached its fangs from the boot and backed up, pawing the ground, but this time far more intentionally than in its previous fight with Drowzee. As it charged itself up, its jaws slowly opened wider and wider until its mouth looked almost like a terrifying bear trap. Sara nodded, “Alright Rattata, you’re toast.” She said with a smirk. “Tartarus, use Quick Attack!” Sara shouted. In the blink of an eye, Tartarus vanished, then a second later, it appeared, smashing its teeth down on the boot. It was almost like time froze for a second before anything had a chance to react, Tartarus’ teeth shining brightly in the sunlight, the boot on the ground, the sole of it being bitten nearly completely in half by Tartarus. ~+~+~…~+~+~ Then, the reaction. The bottom of the boot exploded apart, the previously in-tact shoelaces tearing into two, the leather of the boot fully blowing backwards. Leather and shoe-viscera burst from the point of impact, leaving Tartarus covered in shoe-gore. Hell yes. Critical hit. Sara grinned. That enemy rattata was toast. Satisfied that Tartarus had smashed its foe in a single hit, Sara kicked back. “Alright Tartarus… Lets fish up some more Rattata.” She said, picking up the fishing line and casting it back into the water. Tartarus looked at Sara confused. It was just a boot.~~
Sara definitely defeated a real Rattata and not a shoe, and she knew that she was definitely just destroying a shoe. *cough* Lets just... keep fishing and leave her in her ignorant bliss, eh? ~670 Words~ LAIKA OF GANGNAM STYLE

Another cast of the line, another attempt to fish up some food. A chill wind swept along the water's edge to ruffle Sara's hair, with a risk of blowing away her hat. The water seemed calm, but there was still the movement of a multitude of fish swimming along under the surface. The line snagged again with another catch. The pull wasn't as strong this time around, but whatever was caught certainly liked to thrash about as the line moved from side to side, threatening to get ripped right from Sara's grip. But her hold was strong and with a mighty pull a fish is pulled from the water! The Pokemon, a Magikarp, flopped around on the icy floor. It cried out weakly, splashing around with no water to hold it. It didn't seem to take notice of Sara or Tartarus just yet, slowly attempting to flip itself back into the water. “Alright! This will do it! Lets get going, Tartarus!” Sara said, pointing at the Magikarp. Tartarus completely ignored Sara, its teeth deep in what was left of the boot. It shook its head violently, tearing yet another piece of leather into bits. “Tartarus?” Sara said curiously as the small rat slowly backed up and then charged forward yet again, nearly vanishing out of sight before reappearing next to a piece of the insole of the boot which was still somewhat in tact, completely obliterating it. The magikarp clumsily flipped back and forth, trying to get back into the water. “Tartarus!” Sara said, exasperated. The rat was not responding to its trainer. One of the magikarps flippers touched a puddle of water, and it flipped over, splashing freezing cold water towards Sara. “Ah!” She exclaimed, jumping back a second too late, and getting coated in the mud. “Alright, you wanna play with mud little fishy? I got you covered.” Sara quickly dashed toward her bag, flipping it upside down and dumping out the contents of her bag. She rifled through the resulting clothing pile, finding a variety of pokéballs. She peeked into the top cover, trying to discern which pokéball contained which pokémon. ~+~+-SPLASH-+~+~ Sara’s grey hair was now a muddy brown, her yellow shirt splattered completely with dark speckles of mud, and her skirt absolutely soaked. “YOU….” Sara said, frustratedly at the Magikarp. She reached down, her hand finding exactly the pokémon she was looking for. “ALRIGHT. TIME FOR MUD.” Sara pressed the button on the small pokéball, allowing it to expand to full size in her hand. She crossed her arms dramatically, and then with a pro-trainer spin, the ball flew from her hand, curving quickly in a small arc towards the ground before exploding into a cloud of smoke. A wet pink nose could be seen first, and then from it, a puff of smoke burst forth. As the smoke cloud from the pokéball cleared, a mudbray was revealed.“Momo… let’s kill.” Sara said darkly, mud dripping from her head. Momo sighed as she looked at her trainer, then turned to see its foe. Momo shook her head sadly, then let out a soft, low, rumbling “Brreeeeeeiiighhhh” as she tilted her head down. “Mud-Slap. Now!" Sara said, grumbling to herself as she started wringing out her hair. "And do it as nastily as you can!" Hit them with a double Mud-Slap for that matter!"~ ~

The bright red fish flopped and splashed about on the cold, snowy ground. It’s thick white caudal fin with powerful red rims like support beams kicked up bits of soggy snow mixed with earthen sand in different directions. The Magikarp’s bright yellow dorsal fin flopped lazily from one side to the other as the goofy fish tried to find its way back to the water’s edge. Large, white eyes with tiny black dots for pupils searched endlessly as they flipped around inside of their sockets. “Water….water…!” The weak fish cried, and tried to flip-flop closer to the lake that it was fished out of. A thick spray of mud slapped the fish in its side. The larger brown Pokemon, with powerful hooves and splashes of ‘dirtied’ creamy-brown undersides, snout, and legs had kicked up a thick layer of the soggy wet earth, finding the hardest-hitting patches of it, and sent it spiraling at the bright red fish. The scaly water-based Pokemon soared backwards, farther away from its precious water source and higher up on land. It flopped about, using its powerful caudal fin to slap against the ground and kick itself up into the air as its eyes searched around in absolute horror. “Must…find…water…need…water…!” It cried out pathetically with a sad plea. It slowly flopped around on the ground and managed to scoot closer to the water’s edge. What was only five or so feet away seemed like miles away for the poor fish. With every powerful slap of its tail, the Pokemon would scoot closer, closer, oops farther, now closer still…and keep this vicious cycle repeating in an endless motion. It wouldn’t help that the Magikarp kept slapping bits of its own muddied earth in different directions – still, several bits would keep flying in Sara’s direction, as well – as it tried its hardest to make it back to the water. Still, again, Momo kicked up a thick chunk of muddied sand and clay and sent it spiraling in the scaly fish’s direction, knocking the Pokemon several more feet away from its destination. The fresh white snow was quickly beginning to become a muddy mess. Momo was quickly starting to take advantage of its foe’s innate ability to scoop up bits of mud, and began charging forward towards the mud Magikarp was revealing and would sweep its legs up, kicking the freshly revealed dirt and rocks directly into the face of the Magikarp. Unfortunately for Sara, who was collecting quite a thick coating of mud, while the choice seemed to be the proper one at the time, Momo was still relatively untrained in battle, and was very much fighting on instinct. Its tactic of leaping into muddy ground at full force was effective in creating a blast of mud, but the direction which the mud was flowing could use some practice. Mud-slap after mud-slap, the Magikarp was getting worn down, and yet Sara continued becoming more and more covered in thick viscous brown goo.As the battle raged on, and the mud piled on, Sara started to wonder if there was a better move she could be using. She ran over to the pile of clothing she had dumped out, and quickly dug to the bottom of it to find the pokédex which she had carefully arranged in her backpack to be the first thing accessible, though now it was in the deepest recesses of the dumped clothing pile. As she muddied shirt after shirt, and pant after pant, she searched deeper and deeper still. Finally, a gleam of red plastic appeared. Sara grabbed it triumphantly and turned around, only to find another wave of mud flying towards her.“Crap.” Sara said with no time to move, accepting her fate and closing her eyes as the mud washed over her face, hair, shirt, and splashed behind her to coat her clothing pile, which was now entirely soaked in mud. She sighed, and took a step away. She watched the donkey pokémon, in full battle mode, carefully leap from side to side of the Magikarp as it struggled to slowly try to make its way back to the water. Looking down at the mud-soaked pokédex she held in her hand, she opened it up, and started typing in on the keyboard “Mudbray”. “They really need to figure out how to make these like the ones in Alola…” Sara said, pressing key by key, accidentally hitting the wrong button, then clearing her entry instead of hitting backspace. After a little struggling, she finally made it to the Mudbray’s information page on her Pokédex. The movelist appeared for her pokémon.“Finally!” Sara said, as the page slowly loaded. She quickly read the information presented. “Young Mudbray don’t know a lot about fighting…. only know a few attacks… Innately tend to try to use mud to attack… well trained ones know… more…. Gah…” Sara said, frustratedly. “All you can do is splash mud around? That’s useless!” Sara said, frustratedly. Momo whinnied frustratedly. “Alright, alright, keep at it then! Mud-slap that thing into oblivion… Just watch where you’re splashing though!” Sara added, as both the Magikarp and Mudbray splashed down into a muddy patch of the ground, sending more dirt flying her way.Tartarus had begun collecting the shredded boot, carefully collecting bits of it, piece by piece. It piled them neatly on the ground. It would grab a few bits, then pat them down carefully, and then go and collect more. All this attacking and fighting had worn it down, it was time for a nap. It carefully constructed its nest, far from the lake where the battle was taking place, and nice and dry. It had collected a good chunk of the dark leather bits, and curled itself up sweetly. With one passing glance at Sara, Tartarus was satisfied that it had made the right decision. There was a time for fighting, and a time for getting messy, but now was a grand time for a nap. Gently and sweetly, the small rat unhelpfully curled up, happy and content, and closed its eyes.~ ~

The bright red fish looked like an odd sight on the soggy snow covered ground. It had barely noticed the kicking brown donkey and their curly-haired trainer that seemed bent on battling them to oblivion. Instead, the wide-eyed fish gulped at the air as it bounced around and flopped about on the ground. It was like a broken record, spitting out the same chorus line to your favorite song but forgetting to play the rest of the lyrics. “Water….just need….water…” The sun’s rays that poured down from the heaven’s above seemed to incinerate the floppy finned fish, whose antics kept it bouncing about on the ground. Although, as far as jumping was concerned, it was a beautiful sight. The scaly red fish would do wide hoops and triple – or even quadruple – spins almost elegantly through the air itself. Whenever it landed back onto the ground, it would quite literally flop, however. An almost embarrassing sight, as the Magikarp crashed into the ground and kicked up more bits of muddied earth and overturned soggy snow. It’s thick caudal fin wagged back and forth, sending the soggy-soaked debris flying at everyone within distance with no true aim or remorse for its contender. Momo brayed and dashed forth on her hooves, kicking up more bits of flying dirt and mud that slammed into the scaly fish as it was jumping up into the air. The mud collided with the Magikarp and knocked it dangerously close to the water’s edge. As one of its white pectoral fins barely touched the water, the fish would grow extremely excited. It was almost home! It was there! It could feel the water’s sooth, caressing touch promising the Magikarp that everything was going to be ok! “Yesss…Water! Sweet, sweet water! Holy nectar of life! The Magikarp cried out in jubilee. With a mighty slap of its tail, it splashed up HIGH into the air – above all the treetops all around the route – and came crashing down…. ten feet away from its goal. Well…that was a bust. “Stop, stop, STOP!” Sara shouted at the mud as it flew through the air. At this point, Sara was little more than a pile of mud with eyes poking out of it. All of her possessions which she carelessly poured out of her bag and onto the ground were drenched. There was no longer any dry things anywhere in her possessions. “This cannot go on…” Sara thought, dramatically. She peeked over to the sleeping Tartarus and was filled with a rage and jealousy she didn’t know could exist within her. Somehow in the course of this battle, Tartarus had managed to make a cozy nest, and she had managed to be coated in the most filth she had ever been coated in. “This needs to end.” Sara said, frustratedly. “Momo, keep up the pressure! Cover me! Use another Mud-Slap!” Sara shouted to her Mudbray. Momo obliged, sending a large pile of mud Sara’s way, and continuing her relentless assault of the helpless Magikarp. She rushed to her pile of mud, which had previously been all of her possessions. After physically picking up handfuls of mud and throwing them to the side for a few seconds, she finally reached her earthly possessions. “Alright, not this, not this, not this.” Sara said, tossing a bottle of potion to the side along side a strange looking diamond (which someone assured would wake her pokémon from fighting themselves silly), and a year-old bottle of egg nog. “Ah, okay, this should handle it.” Sara said, grabbing a mud coated pokéball. “If I’m right, this should have my Treecko, Avery inside!” Sara said grinning. “You’re in for it now, Magikarp. I was foolish to send in my dirt type pokémon, no offense Momo,” Sara said to the Mudbray. Momo whinnied gently, still determined to help her trainer at all costs, despite the clear lack of her trainer’s knowledge. “And so, now I’m going to send in my tree type pokémon. I’ve heard they can drain you fish type empty!” Sara said, with a fierce finger waggle at the Magikarp. As she posed pointing at the Magikarp, mud dripped from her fingers and arms to the ground with a wet plop. As pathetic as the Magikarp was out of water, Sara wasn’t intimidating anyone. “Alright, lets do this Avery!” Sara said, with a flourish. She swung her hand down low, her hand wrapped carefully around the pokéball, then with a twirl and a flourish, the ball flew from her hand towards the Magikarp. Momo leapt out of the way as the ball failed to open and send out any pokémon, and instead, the pokéball gently hit the Magikarp, causing it to vanish for a second in a puff of smoke. Sara looked, wide eyed. “In the name of the Tapus, please no.” Sara said, realization sweeping over her as the ball wobbled slightly on the ground. “Please pop open, please no… I can’t be responsible for this mud monster.” Sara said, watching the pokéball rock around wildly on the ground. Momo looked back suspiciously. "No, not you, the Magikarp!"~~
Sara digs through her backpack to find a better combatant for this situation, but somehow grabs an empty pokéball instead of the one which contains her Treecko.

The Magikarp continued to flop helplessly towards the water, trying to get back to its home. It continued to ignore Momo and Sara as it tried to find the waters edge aimlessly, splashing and flopping around, covered in mud. It could barely see and didn't know which direction it was going or where it needed to be. Momo kicked up more mud, and covered it even more. It flip flopped and splashed as hard as it could, sending itself into the air one final time, hoping to Arceus that this will send it back into the water. It landed with a loud SPLASH. It rejoiced for a second, trying to swim away and get to safety. Only to realise it had only landed back into the mud. What was life? It's tail flapped a few more times, not quite giving up on its cause, when it was engulfed in a Pokeball. The ball landed in the mud with a plop, and wriggled... Once... Twice... PING! The ball signalled the successful capture, and lay in the mud, still.

Sara watched in absolute horror as the ball shook calmly, coming to a halt in a pile of mud. As the hectic scene settled, Momo softly brayed, shaking her head back and forth. An impact crater lay in the middle of the battleground, where a muddy sinkhole had formed. Momo dutifully picked the pokeball up into her mouth and climbed up the muddy slope back towards Sara, dropping it in front of her as if she were a dog playing fetch. Sara stared at the ball, completely dumbfounded. "Why... why did the Tapus let the ball rest...?" Sara said, her soul gently creeping away from that weirdo she formerly called her body. The blood drained from Sara's face as she scooped up the ball. She had accepted responsibility for pokemon before, but this was different. Her plan had always been to eat the thing, and now she had ended up capturing the thing. "Can... can you eat pokemon you catch?" Sara thought to herself. "Is that even legal?"Sara placed a hand on her stomach as a low grumble came out. "This suuucks!" She said out loud, dropping to the ground into a mushy pile of mud. Sara whipped out her pokedex, and began reading the entry for Magikarp. "It is virtually worthless in terms of both power and speed. It is the most weak and pathetic Pokémon in the world." Sara stared at the ball. Literally a waste of $200. "Gah!" Sara thought, "I could have bought coffee with that..." Tears welled up in Sara's eyes as she flopped to the ground. It was freezing, the wind was blowing, and she just captured the pokemon that was supposed to be her lunch. As Sara lay there, defeated, Momo came closer to cuddle her, squishing into the cozy mud pile happily. Tartarus remained sleeping, cozy in the nest it had made. Her pile of clothing burbled gently as the mud settled into the crevices of her belongings. A calm noise filled the air. From an optimistic start to her day, to an empowering conversation with some Team Rocket buffoons, the promise of a tea-stall debut in a real venue, things seemed to be going well. Until this. Until Magikarp. The most weak and pathetic pokemon in the world. Somehow this pokemon had utterly defeated her. After a few more moments of feeling pitiful and sorry for herself, Sara was finally ready to get going again. First, she sat up. Momo was fast asleep already. Sara grabbed Momo's ball and pressed the button gently, a red beam of light flying out and sucking the pokemon in. Next, she carefully searched through her pile of possessions to find Tartarus' ball and did the same for him. "Alright Sara, lets get to work cleaning this muck up." Sara said to her self with determination. -~-~-~-~- It was night-time by the time Sara had finished wringing the mud out of her clothes. She considered trying to wash her clothes in the stream, but it was freezing out, and it would likely never dry. She had a small fire going, and a tent set up. She had gone off the path in order to find this pond, and was sure she wasn't a long way from getting back to Cherrygrove, or even continuing on to Violet City, but travelling in the dark seemed miserable. As the sky turned from a cloudy gray to a crisp sun-set orange, Sara leaned back, content she had done all she could to clean the mess from the battle before. Her bag was packed, she had eaten some canned rations, she had boiled a hot cup of water and added in some instant coffee. "The problem was probably the lack of caffeine." Sara said, letting the coffee do its magic. She was relaxed, but no longer tired, and as the minutes and seconds went by, she was feeling more and more wired. The sun finished setting, and night had settled in. The gentle noises of nature began chiming all around. Sara had packed up her tent. "Some coffee was all I needed. One in the tummy, and one at the ready. Lets GO!" Sara shouted, coffee cup in hand. And away Sara went. The direction she was headed, not necessarily back towards the path... but she wasn't worried. Or aware. She had the caffeine jitters, and it was time to go! ~~
Having captured the Magikarp, Sara refuels and is ready for more action. Caffeine pumping through her veins, she thinks she is ready for more of what the day can throw at her.
Is she though....?

Nighttime was a strange and magical time. A large crescent moon hung low in the skies above, surrounded by stars that twinkle in the night sky. They seemed to dance and shine together with skies clear enough to connect the dots between each start. Ursa Minor reflected high above as the sleeping bear seemed to nestle happily against the big dipper that would create Ursa Major. The faint hoots of night owls who rose out of the daytime slumber and climbed into the open air of the surrounding route called out from the darkness of the night. Crickets sung between each other, creating a soft melody that was equally eerie as it was charming. A large blue head popped up out of the water's edge with a wide, dopey grin on its face. Since only half of its large head had emerged from the water's edge, only its small black eyes were visible as the Pokemon's nose and mouth remained hidden underneath the water's edge. It followed Sara from the sidelines and tilted her head curiously, as she gathered her Pokemon in their Pokeballs and began to pack up her camping gear. Cloaked by the darkness of night itself, the Pokemon's large tail 'thumped' on top of the water, kicking up a large splash that would shoot from the stream and land smack dab on Sara and her supplies. Should she turn around to try and spot the culprit, the strange blue Pokemon would dive back underneath the water, hidden and out of sight. It would wait until Sara turned away or started to leave, before it would reveal itself once more. When Sara set out on her direction that wasn't quite back to the path she had previously walked to the stream, the large blue Pokemon would slowly climb up on land and walk slowly behind her in the dead of night. Any time that Sara might try to turn around, the Quagsire would duck behind large bushes or the thick trunks of trees to hide itself, snickering. All the while...keeping in toe. After they had gotten far enough away from the water's edge, the blue Pokemon would reach out and tap Sara on the shoulder to get her attention. Once spotted, the Pokemon would lay three random items on the ground in front of her and motion with its flipper-like hands for her to take them. Though the sky seemed bright, as the sun made its way all the way out of the sky, the forest was pitch black. Sara nervously took a sip of her coffee. Paranoia from caffeine was a feeling that Sara was used to, but this was something else. There was definitely something watching her. As she made her way away from the water, a thick stream of water splashed into the back of her head, soaking her backpack which had almost dried from the mud. Sara jumped forward, turning around. “What in the name of the Tapus?” Sara said, eyes darting around suspiciously. She turned her head as much as she could to see her backpack. This time it was different, it wasn’t mud, it was water. “I gotta get out of here…” Sara said, taking another sip of coffee, and taking a look around at the lake area. As she began walking away rather quickly, she quickly realized she wasn’t going to get far without a flashlight. She reached her arm around into her bag and started searching. “Ah… Here it is…” She said, turning the top of the flashlight. A bright white light burst forth, illuminating the area harshly. She winced and tried to get her bearings again as her eyes readjusted to the dark around her. She started moving forward, careful not to neglect the coffee which she was taking sips from quite frequently. “Ahh… nothing like a refreshing nighttime walk.” Sara said casually. She flicked the flashlight to and fro. “What does this sign say? No… Fishing… Quagsire Habitat?” Sara walked closer to the sign to get a better look, her flashlight harshly illuminating the sign. “Huh. Endangered species protections… shoot, I hope I didn’t forget anything that could ID me back at that lake, looks like I wasn’t supposed to be fishing there.” Sara said nervously. Sara made her way past the sign, but couldn’t help but feel like something was following her. Every once and a while she would hear a crunching of leaves or crackle of sticks breaking, and would turn around quickly to see what was there, but whatever it was was well camouflaged, or didn’t really exist. “Remember, this is just the caffeine, it’s just the caffeine…” Sara said, “Your imagination can’t hurt you… you need to get outta these woods and back to civilization.” Sara said with determination. Suddenly, Sara felt a tap on her shoulder. She froze, completely. Slowly, like a cartoon character, Sara turned around, a terrified expression glued to her face. Then she spotted it. A pokémon which looked exactly like the one on the sign. “Oh Tapu, you’re here to take back your fish!” Sara shrieked in fear. “Look, I’m sorry I took the fish! I don’t even want it, please! Take it back!” Sara said, grabbing the Magikarp’s pokéball from the side of her backpack and offering it to the Quagsire. The quagsire pointed menacingly to the ground, showing three strange looking spheres, and motioned to Sara to take them. “Eh? You just want me to take these things? Okay, here I go...” Sara said, carefully crouching down, eyes locked with the quagsire, the flashlight probably too aggressively pointed in its face. When she got low enough, she reached out quickly and snatched the three items away from the pokémon. “Thanks?” Sara said, nervously, hoping the situation would resolve itself and the Quagsire would run away. As the Quagsire watched Sara in a seemingly menacing fashion, Sara started to get the feeling it was enjoying how uncomfortable Sara was. Sara’s eyes darted to the left and right, her flashlight still fixated on the Quagsire’s face. If she was going to make a move, she had to make one soon, hopefully before this giant monsters mood soured, and it decided it wanted something in return for the gifts it had given her. "One more slow sip of my coffee…” Sara thought, bringing the cup to her lips, and drinking slowly. “Then….”“RUN!” And Sara took off running as fast as she could through the dark woods. ~~
Sara collects the items and runs! She has no idea what this monster wants from her, but surely in the middle of the night with no one around is not the safest place to be! 655 words

The quagsire looked surprised after Sara and it chuckled to itself that its trick had worked, but there was no way it was going to try run after her. It was a slow moving pokemon unless potential in the water but Sara was running over land and she soon disappeared into the darkness. "RUUUUUNN!" A voice screamed behind Sara, and if she wasn't too scared to listen closely she'd might find it strangely familiar. The sound of something big hitting the ground, potential footsteps, came in an erratic pattern, and was followed by sounds snapping twigs. "Tiiimmmbeeeerr!" Sara's voice warned now straight above her and leaves rained down on her. A short moment a chain saw started but then was ended abruptly as if the user decided against it. A flutter of wings to the left and a colorful bird swopped past, "Mayday mayday! Houston, we have a problem!" It called loud and clear as it passed her. "One more sip of coffee!" It whispered surprisingly loudly, easily keeping pace with Sara if she was still running, and if not hovering in the air with a eager expression. "Quag quag quag," it said which sounded almost like laughing and it made a sweeping motion with its wing as if it bowed. "That's all folks! It's time to show if you're men or rattatas! You better pay or you will regret it punk," it said in a quick order with what sounded like a parrot voice and looked expectantly at Sara. Chatot [lv 7] is trying to impress with its mimicking skills. "AHHH!" Sara screamed as someone else yelled run behind her. It didn't take Sara much convincing to run even faster. She was 60... no, 70% sure this wasn't just paranoia set upon her from her coffee. This was legit. Someone was definitely messing with her, first with the Quagsire, and now this Chatot? "Who's there?" Sara shouted, turning quickly with her flashlight. "Timbeeeerrr!" The voice responded, leaves starting to fall from the tree. It sounded just like her voice, what what going on?! Suddenly, the sound of a chainsaw started up. Sara turned and started to run. "HEY SOMEONE IS HERE! QUIT CUTTING DOWN THE TREE!!! WHO CUTS A TREE AT MIDNIGHT?!" Sara screamed at the top of her lungs as she ran quickly away. The chainsaw noise quieted down, but Sara was long gone by that point. In the dark, shadows crept toward her from all angles. Nervously, she fiddled with her backpack, finally reaching the pouch she had stored her pokeballs in and then she grabbed hold of one. "Go! Whoever!!!!!" Sara shouted, tossing the pokeball out. LwEwpEw81-4 Sara winced as the pokeball exploded into smoke, and out came a pokemon which Sara hadn't seen since this morning. "Avery?" Sara said nervously. Definitely not the pokemon she thought it was going to be. "Crap, now I gotta get my pokedex out. I have no idea what your moves are!" Sara said, quickly pulling her backpack off. "Keep your eyes open Avery, the enemy could be anywhere!" Sara quickly started fishing objects out of her backpack. This time, at least, her pokedex was near the top so she didn't have to dump out all of her possessions again. Avery quickly got low to the ground, keeping an eye out. A high pitched and quite annoying voice emerged, and Sara directed her flashlight directly towards it. A small bird pokemon with its head in the shape of a music note was hovering just above the ground, cackling like the quagsire that Sara had just encountered. "What are you?" Sara said, nervously. She had never seen a Chatot before, and only knew pokemon to say their own names. The chatot didn't offer anything up in terms of a useful response. "That's all folks! It's time to show if you're men or rattatas! You better pay or you will regret it punk," It shouted at Sara. "You want my money?" Sara asked, eyeing her backpack. She quickly grabbed two pokeballs from her bag before putting it back on. "I couldn't pay you if I wanted to, birdy! I'm broke!" Sara said, grinning as if proud of the fact. "Plus, I don't respond well to threats." she added, with newfound confidence now that she knew where the voice was coming from. Sara held the two pokeballs in one hand and the pokedex in the other, and opened it up to point it at Avery. She had never used the pokemon in battle before, but it was now or never. Sara winced at the type matchup. "Yikes... Sorry Avery, looks like you won't be doing much against this bird type! Give it all you got though! Pound it!" Sara shouted, nervously. Avery looked nervously back at Sara as she made public knowledge the fact that she didn't have faith in Avery, but, faithfully decided that she would enact her trainers plan. Her only option was to try to get through this battle in one piece, and she could only do that by trusting her trainer. Avery sprinted forward with all the false confidence she could muster, trying to get close to the flying-type to give it a mean whack with its large, heavy leaf tail. ~~

Unhappy with the response they got, the Chatot squawked loudly, displeased. It had hoped for some applause or maybe a treat, but instead it got attacked! "I don't respond well to threats!" It parrots back at Sara as Avery moves in to attack. The Chatot hovered in the air, keeping its distance and trying its best to keep away from the grass type. Even if it knew Avery wasn't much of a threat due to their typing, you never know what kind of trick a Pokemon may have up their sleeve. Avery used the forest around them to her advantage, she climbed the closest tree and used the higher vantage point to leap towards the flying Chatot, swinging her tail around in an arch to smack it across the face. The Chatot flapped aggressively to keep itself from plummeting to the floor, and managed to keep itself up. Avery landed, rather impressively, on the damp and slippery floor, rolling to a stop on all fours. "Go, go, go!" The Chatot screeched, still in Sara's voice, as it dive bombed towards Avery while she was getting back on her feet. The Chatot collided with Avery, pecking at her head in anger a few times before letting the poor grass type go to fly back into the relative safety of of the air. Avery certainly wasn't looking good after that bombardment. Wild Encounter Weather: Slippery [attr="class","qkt-bkgd"] [attr="class","qkt-wild-pkmn"] Wild Chatot LV 7 HP 90% [26/29]
