Tristan Storm » OOC: Surfs Up Today was the day, the day that Tristan finally was able to start chasing his dream. Tristan was determined to make the absolute most out of the opportunity that his family had provided him as they were still located back home in Pacifidlog continuously working hard.
Tristan emerged from the New Bark Town laboratory with a new companion to share his journey with. The pokemon partner that Tristan had chosen was Squirtle, the base form of his favourite pokemon of all time in Blastoise.
"Come on out Nami"
Emerging from her resting place was Nami the Squirtle. The name that Tristan had chosen for her referred back to Japanese origins in which Nami means wave, a bit of homage to his roots back home in the Hoenn region. Tristan's focus had been fixated upon Nami as the turtle pokemon smiled back at him, already he could feel a connection forming between them, something he would indefinitely treasure as a partnership rather than a slave out to do his bidding in battle.
Nami moved and placed herself beside Tristan, ready to progress along route 29, the first and possibly most visited route in the Johto region for new trainers. Tristan was nervously excited for whatever challenge arose, whether it be in the form of a trainer, wild pokemon or anything in between.
"Let's get this show on the road!"

It was a wonderful day to start a journey, the sun was shining and a surprisingly warm wind was blowing making the icicles drip and the night's frost on the grass, get slushy as it slowly melted. It made the ground slippery so Tristan and his pokemon better watch out. A couple of pidgeys were sitting in a tree and trying to get some warmth from the sun after a long cold night, they barely paid the passing human any attention. Through the trees the bubbling of a little creek could be heard, along with encouragingly shouting by a young voice. "Go on Tata! You can do it! Ready? Jump!" The voice shouted and a splash followed. Excited chirping followed and a pidgey came flying while staring at Nami. "What is it Storm? Have you spotted a water type?" The voice called eagerly and quickly added, "come on Tata! Now it is time to see where all the training has brought us!"A boy appeared from the direction of the creek, his eyes widened in delight when he saw Nami but quickly changed to disappointment when he saw Tristan and it was clear he was the trainer. "Storm! You need to find wild water pokemon, in the creek! Not ones already owned!" The boy called to his bird who looked confused. A damp rattata arrived and stopped to shake its fur, it clattered cheerfully with its teeth, and tried to get the boy to follow it back to the creek. "My name is Mikey," the boy said and looked thoughtful at Tristan. "Do you happen to know a lot about water pokemon?" He asked hopefully, "I want a pokemon of every type, and already has a normal and a flying, so the next one on my list is water," Mikey declared and pointed at his rattata and pidgey when he mentioned their types. "Would you help me figure out how to get my pokemon to fight in the water? Pretty please?" He asked and looked beggingly at Tristan. He would show the way to a little creek where thin ice at the edge were cracked from a pokemon having run through it. Tata showed it had been him as he splashed through the water to the other side and after a few vigorously shakes turned to look expentantly at Tristan. They wondered what he could teach them. Youngster Mikey hope you will help him with his training. his Tata [lvl 5] is ready to go! Weather is Chinook (slippery)

Tristan Storm » OOC: Surfs Up Tristan and Nami had been casually strolling along Route 29 enjoying the weather that they had been presented with today before their attention was diverted to a Pidgey that had joined their company. The Pidgey's sights had been fixated upon Nami as Tristan looked on a little confused about the situation, his confusion quickly dissipated however as a young boy who appeared to be beaming with excitement came running towards the flying type pokemon. Youngster Mikey was an energetic young fellow who appeared to own the Pidgey that had been flying nearby to Nami and a damp looking Rattata.
"I have lived by the water my entire life, water type pokemon are the only ones that I wish to own honestly"
Tristan and Nami followed young Mikey to a little creek nearby to them as the young boy requested Tristan's help in getting his normal and flying type pokemon to fight in the water, a difficult feat to say the very least.
"Sure thing, I don't mind helping out, maybe we could have a pokemon battle if you'd like that?"
Tristan knelt down next to Nami and placed a droplet like necklace over her neck, the item was known as a Mystic Water and would boost the power of her water type attacks, Tristan had been given two of the Mystic Water items from his mother Annabelle and father Michael prior to leaving home as a reminder of his family, Tristan felt a great sense of pride entrusting his first partner pokemon with such an important item.
"Let's get this thing started shall we? You can start us off"
Tristan heard a beeping signal coming from his pokedex as he retrieved the digital encyclopedia from his pocket, the beeping signal had been a notification. The notification had been in the form of a gift, a pokemon gift in fact from his twin sister Trinity. Tristan had a smile on his face that could not be taken off, family was everything to him and he is determined to ensure that their sacrifices do not go to waste as he makes the most of his journey. A note was attached to the gift transfer from Trinity, the pokemon inside was a Horsea named Neptune whose timid nature had him fretting that things will inevitably go wrong, a shy guy to the core.

Mikey didn’t quite follow why the trainer would catch only water-types because he grew up by. “I think the water type is super cool, but wouldn’t you want to explore other types too, since you’ve been around water all this time?” The young boy questioned the trainer out of curiosity as he led Storm, Tata, and the trainer to the creek. “Yeah that sounds great! We can have a battle!”When Tristan gave a necklace to Nami, it caught the attention of the boy. “What is that?” He asked. He thought the gem in the center of the necklace looked very interesting. “Alright, we’ll give it our best shot!” Mikey said. His rat Pokemon prepared to hop back into the rather small creek, and gave an eager look back to Mikey after getting in. “Tata, let’s attack with a Quick Attack!” The pokemon immediately responded to his trainer’s words and charged towards the shelled Pokemon. Quick Attack seemed quite a bit slower than usual with the Pokemon splashing up and down as it jumped closer and closer. Its head seemed to bob up and down from its jumps in the water and its small size. Tata landed a close impact hit onto the squirtle and quickly darted (splashed) his way back to his trainer. “Nice shot, Tata!” Mikey exclaimed. “Now let’s see what a water type Pokemon can do!” Mikey was watching excitedly to see Tristan’s next move. Tristan Storm » OOC: Surfs Up As Tristan watched the beginning of the battle unfold he couldn't help but admire Mikey's dedication to trying his best, the kid's eagerness to learn and improve filled him with potential that if mentored properly could be an untapped success story just waiting to happen.
"Well you see Mikey, I have no interest for including pokemon of other typings on my team, plus water pokemon always give me a sense of connection to my family back home"
Mikey's Rattata splashed up and down through the small creek water making its quick attack move seem nothing like its namesake, despite this the normal type pokemon landed a close impact tackle style attack on Nami which knocked her off her feet. Tristan did not look worried at all about the situation, in actual fact his demeanour was calm.
"That necklace right there is an item known as Mystic Water, it boosts the power of water type attacks for the pokemon wearing it"
Tristan smiled as his attention diverted away from Mikey and back onto Nami, she had risen back to her feet after Rattata's attack and was raring and ready to put herself at the front of the action as she awaited her trainers call,
"Alright Nami, start off with your Water Gun attack!"
Nami's focus was fixated upon Mikey's Rattata as she nodded her head in acknowledgement of her trainers command. Nami cocked her head back and then tossed it forward as a spiral of water emerged from her mouth that was headed straight towards her opponent.

Even though Mikey was a young boy, he could still understand wanting that connection to home while being far away. “Yeah,” Mikey said, “I guess I can see why you would want water types! They also seem really really strong! My name is Mikey by the way.” He was really excited to see what the trainer’s water type Pokemon could do. Mikey seemed really intrigued by the enhancing properties of the necklace. It must’ve been super rare! After Mikey was the first to attack in the battle, he waited momentarily to see what his opponent would have his squirtle do with her up on her feet again. It seemed Nami was quite quick in responding to her trainer. A jetstream of water fired out of the squirtles mouth towards Tata at an incredible speed of fire. “Tata, try to dodge!” Mikey called out to his rattata, but there was no time. The hit from the water blasted his rattata, causing it to fall back into the water. “Be careful, Tata!!” Mikey called out as his rattata got back up. “You gotta be careful. Let’s go get it with a tackle attack!” Not quite as fast as the quick attack previously, and a little less sloppily at the same time, the rattata charged for Nami and dealt another direct impact hit, quickly retreating once again. It stepped outside of the creek by Nami’s side, trying to get a bit dry. “That was a mighty strong Water Gun attack from your squirtle!” Mikey said to Tristan, somewhat surprised by the power of the attack. Tristan Storm » OOC: Surfs Up "It's a pleasure to meet you Mikey, I'm Tristan."
Tristan could see the sheer eagerness in young Mikey's eyes, the boy was evidently passionate about pokemon just by listening to the way he spoke. Tristan was feeling glad that he would be able to test the waters with his new pokemon this early into his young journey. Tristan was going to show his new young acquaintance just how strong water type pokemon could really be firsthand.
Nami's water gun attack was very much reminiscent of a jetstream with its incredible speed of fire, it was powerful enough of a move to knock Mikey's Rattata, aptly named Tata, off its feet and falling backwards into the creek water. Tristan smiled towards Mikey as he dwelled upon his decision, he had provided Mikey with what was essentially a free-turn to attack as a friendly gesture, the mystic water item was nearly guaranteed to stack the odds in Tristan's favour in this battle.
Tata the Rattata's next attack was a tackle move, the mouse pokemon did not like quite as quick as it had exhibited from its quick attack move, that was mostly to be expected however as pokemon could only sustain taking so much damage for so long. Tata's tackle attack had been a direct impact and the rodent quickly retreated to outside of the creek to dry off, that was sure to not last for too much longer with the impending attack that Nami would use,
"Thanks Mikey, she's honestly just as new to this whole thing as I am. Your Rattata is definitely holding its own and then some, you should be proud of that!"
Tristan felt a sense of pride dwelling within him as Mikey had complimented the strength shown by Nami, at the same time he felt that dishing out a compliment to the trainer younger than him would continue to help build his confidence, so long as that confidence didn't turn to cockiness things were bound to be alright for the young boy.
"Okay Nami, hit Mikey's Rattata with another Water Gun attack!"
Nami's turned her attention from the conversation that her trainer and his opponent had been having and focus upon Mikey's Rattata. Much like she had done previously, Nami cocked her head back before then tossing it forward as a spiral of water emerged from her mouth in a jetstream like formation.

“Hear that, Tata?” Mikey called out to his rattata. “You’re doing pretty great! We can do this!” Mike exclaimed to his rattata. He and his Pokemon were both learning a lot in the battle with Tristan and Nami so far and he wanted to learn more. Mikey wondered what other Pokemon Tristan had with him. Surely they were just as unique and strong as Nami was! “Keep fighting Tata, let’s hit the squirtle with another Quick Attack before it can hit you again!” Mikey said to his young rat Pokemon. The rattata had an eager look on his face. Without looking back, he made a charge for the squirtle. Each time it made an attack, the rattata was getting less sloppy in its creek dash. Before the squirtle could let loose the water gun, the rattata made another direct impact. It was a bit hard to see, but after the attack, the rattata had a bit of a smile, whether it was trying to hide it or not. It was getting a bit better at this. Mikey’s smile wasn’t hidden at all, He was very thoroughly enjoying the battle, or more so, the learning experience for him and his team. Another harsh water attack from Tristan’s squirtle would leave Tata struggling even more than the last time to get back up. Even though the water gun had knocked over the small Pokemon again, the smile there had not been removed. Struggling to stay in the fight, it knew it was doing a good job. “Good job Tata, keep on holding in there! You are doing amazing!”

Tristan Storm » OOC: Appropriate Gif for Situation xD Despite the amount of punishment that Mikey's Tata had withstood, the mouse pokemon continued to fight with every last skerrick of energy in its body, while its Quick Attack move was looking alot less visually appealing each time, its effectiveness had not dimmed in the slightest. Tristan could see a visibly excited young boy enjoying himself in Mikey, it bought a smile to Tristan's face as well, this was just as fun as he had dreamt of many times back home. Mikey's Rattata had been able to get in its latest move just before Nami had released her water gun attack upon him, this may have been the saving grace for the mouse pokemon in the grand scheme of things as it looked well and truly on its last legs after the tiny turtle pokemon's latest attack. Tristan felt as though he could sense the energy emanating from the battle, the end for Tata was nigh,
"Alright Nami, let's finish this off with a Tackle attack!"
Nami the Squirtle certainly looked the healthier of the two combatants, she was fairly confident that Mikey would command Tata to use his Quick Attack move again to get in a shot before its impending unconsciousness. Nami begun to baby walk towards the mouse type pokemon across from her before this baby like walking style quickly turned into a Naruto-esque running style as she jumped from the ground towards the mouse pokemon and withdrew her head inside her shell to execute the attack.
Run Squirtle!

The smile never left the purple rat’s face. Although now, Tata was breathing heavier. Labored breaths caused the small purple rodent’s head to bob up and down rhythmically as it faced off with the brown shelled blue turtle. Determination alighted the Rattata’s expression, and it cast a singular glance back towards its trainer as it awaited the next command. Mikey, however, glanced from his Pokemon to the Squirtle worriedly. This couldn’t be the end – could it? Tata’s slightly shivering form and heavier gasps of breath were tell-tale signs of his fatigue. But…if Tata wasn’t giving up… Mikey balled his hands into fists and pumped them in the air with a grand expression. “Ok, Tata! Let’s give it our all! Quick Attack now, and seize your moment!” Mikey cheered his Pokemon on. Tata nodded his head affirmatively. Paws scrambled across the slippery snowy scene. A blur of purple and cream rushed across the ground, aided by the melting snowy region as it propelled the Rattata forward at and even faster pace. The furry rodent rushed in and collided with the Squirtle almost effortlessly, as scrabbly paws slipped and slid with the momentum of the terrain. Tata came to a crashing stop as he made direct contact with Squirtle side, hitting the shelled blue turtle against both his arms and his shell. Ouch! It was short lived, however. Nami seemed to seize the exact moment herself and tackled her opponent to the ground. The furry purple rodent squeaked out one final cry – a mix of pain and anguish – as it tumbled and spun through the chinook region before landing in a collapsed heap. Mikey’s hands rested on his face as a look of shock burst from his eyes. “Tata….no! TATA!” Mikey recalled his Pokemon into its Pokeball and pulled out another Pokeball. "Alright, Beaks! Let's show 'em what we're made of!" With a click and a flash of light, a small brown feathered Pidgey stood in front of Tristan's Nami. It prodded its beak through the weathers on its wings, as it preened itself. "Pidg. Tristan Storm » OOC: Neptune the shy guy makes his entrance! Mikey was well and truly enamoured by the thrill of the pokemon battle at hand, every ounce of his being was invested into his pokemon and that showed through his actions and words. Tristan's approach to the battle was more of a calm and collected one in comparison to Mikey's, he never truly looked overly concerned.
Mikey's Rattata was able to get in one final Quick Attack move, despite how much punishment the purple rodent had withstood, he still managed to look quick with his attacks. Tata succumbed to Nami's Tackle attack not long after his own attack, Nami's move had knocked the mouse pokemon unconscious as Mikey returned it to rest and recover inside of its pokeball.
"Great work Nami, I'm proud of you! Time for some well deserved rest!"
Tristan recovered Nami's pokeball and pointed it towards the tiny turtle pokemon as a red beam of light engulfed Nami and returned her inside. Mikey had released his latest pokemon into battle in the form of a Pidgey, in response to this Tristan reached for a different pokeball, one that contained the pokemon gift that Trinity had transferred to him. Tristan pointed the pokeball towards the ground and clicked the button in the middle of the pokeball and emerging from the red beam of light was Neptune the Horsea.
"Keep training that Rattata of yours Mikey, it's got the heart of a lion, kudos to it for making that part of the battle so entertaining!"
Neptune arrived onto the battlefield he begun to anxiously assess his surroundings, his timid nature was not best suited to the bright lights of a pokemon battle. Tristan retrieved another Mystic Water item, identical to the one that he had given Nami and leaned over to place it over the dragon pokemons head as Tristan gave a reassuring smile that everything was going to be okay, a simple gesture that he hoped would go a long way.
At his current level Neptune had learned the attacks Smokescreen and Bubble, however the little note that accompanied his pokeball also stated that he had been taught a technical machine in the form of a very powerful ice type attack in Ice Beam. Tristan looked over towards Mikey with a grin on his face, the teenager from Pacifidlog was well aware that flying type pokemon such as Pidgey were exceptionally vulnerable to ice type attacks, a strategy that Tristan was keen to employ to wrap the battle up.
"Alright Neptune, let's get things started with your Ice Beam attack!"
Neptune didn't respond to his trainers request after first hearing it, the shy young fellow was fretting about the possibility that everything would inevitably go wrong for him, this was his first battle after all. Tristan could see the obvious amount of discomfort that his water type partner was in, this provided the teenager a perfect opportunity to reassure Neptune and help build a bond between the pair
"Neptune my young friend, nothing to stress about, just give it your best effort, I'm proud of you regardless!"

"You bet! We won't stop until we can beat Joey's rattata." Mikey pumped his fist in the air, still fired up despite the little setback. Squirtle was a tough opponent. That shell was hard to get through at times, especially with the training from a specialized trainer like Tristan. But now it was Beak's turn. "Now you'll get to see what Beaks can do. He's just as tough so don't think this'll be as easy as any other pidgey around here," the youngster boasted proudly. His bird cawed loudly, spreading his wings out to show just how great he was. Fine feathered, speedy, smart... Beaks had everything going for him. And when their new opponent came out to greet them the pair were confident that they could win. Mikey didn't want to be rude, but it looked like Neptune wasn't very battle savvy. The little guy seemed like he'd be more comfortable huddled behind Tristan than fighting. However, the mood dropped when the water trainer called his plan of attack. Mikey's face went into shock. Eyes wide, mouth dropping, and posture freezing as if the ice attack had already washed over him. "Wh-b-b-hah?" he stuttered as his brain tried to wrap itself around the situation. Beaks even began to sweat, as if that was even possible for a bird. "Th-there's no way..!" the boy managed to speak with much effort. He couldn't believe it. There was no way a starting trainer would have something so powerful in their arsenal. It wasn't fair! What they assumed was going to be a grueling back and forth of growing pokémon had just turned into a bird-type's nightmare. As soon as the chilling energies began balling at the horsea's nose Beak's composure shattered. With a terrified squawk the avian scrambled. But the frantic fleeing to try and find something to hide behind wasn't enough to shake Neptune's aim. The ice beam hit its mark and caked the pidgey in a thin layer of ice. "Beaks! Noooo, Beaks!" The boy rushed to his pokémon as it toppled over in its icy shell. He placed a hand on the blocked surface, its chill not too strong and even just with a few seconds touch was melting against the warmth of Mikey's palm. Well... Tristan hadn't been bluffing. "Aww, sorry boy." He scooped the misshapen block that was his bird into his arms and stood up, turning to face the other trainer. "You're so strong! That was just incredible. How did you get such cool moves?" His sentences spun off quickly one after the other, barely a breath between them. The youngster waddled over to Tristan as he dug out the winnings for the match. "I've gotta train even harder. Then I'll get a rematch!"With that he was off. No doubt back to get the professor to heal his pokémon before getting right back into the wilds to do more training. VICTORY!
Neptune grew to LV 8!
Youngster Mikey was defeated! He gave Tristain £300

Tristan was pleasantly surprised at the sheer amount of power that Neptune had produced in its ice type move, for such a young and inexperienced pokemon it certainly knew how to pack a punch. Mikey's Pidgey never truly stood a chance against the sheer destructive power of Neptune's Ice Beam attack and honestly Tristan felt bad for having cut what had so far been an enjoyable back and forth contest dramatically short.
Mikey was in an even greater state of shock than Tristan as he watched on in shock horror, for a trainer so young an experience like this was sure to either break them or make them, if the youngsters words were anything to go by then Tristan was sure it would be more reflective of the latter of those two options
I look forward to our rematch, train hard and never let anybody tell you that you're not capable of big things, the world is your oyster Mikey"
Tristan felt a humble sense of pride, as new as he was to this whole trainer she-bang he felt like a pseudo-mentor to Mikey, a role model that could light the way for youngsters to continually improve and usher in a new generation of talented trainers. Tristan begrudgingly accepted the money from Mikey, it was league rules to hand over money to the winner of a pokemon battle between trainers, despite this Tristan had wished the young boy had kept the money and bought himself something nice, maybe some more pokeballs to continue to build his team of pokemon.
Tristan leaned down and presented a candy cane for Neptune to enjoy, Neptune had retreated next to Tristan's side and the body language of the timid water type pokemon indicated that he was still feeling nervous despite having won its first battle and nothing having gone wrong, maybe he was sensing something bad was on the horizon...

Silver had spent most of the day cursing out his newly acquired Pokemon and doing his best to get the stupid walking grass dinosaur to mind and listen to him. However, it hadn’t been an easy journey. Most of the time, the two seemed at odds – with the small quadrupedal green creature with its huge leaf shooting out of the top of its head staring up skittishly at the red-haired young lad. The sounds of other trainers had caught Silver off-guard, however. He bent down on one knee in the grass and used his arms to yank his Pokemon close to his lips, leaning to whisper in the Chikorita’s ears. “Listen and be quiet, you flat-footed plant.” He used a free hand to point just around the crowded clutch of trees and peered around the edge to sneak a peek at Tristan and his Horsea as they easily managed to take out the other trainer’s Pidgey. “See that chump?” He pointed to Tristan with one finger, doing his best to ensure he remained hidden. Chikorita’s wide eyes stared up to its trainer curiously and almost vacantly, as if she were merely trying to absorb all the other kid’s knowledge. “He sucks less than that wanna-be loser, there.” Silver elaborated towards the defeated Mikey, who was making it way far down the trail off to some new adventure now. Perhaps, to build his team so that they would become stronger down the line, even? “And you’re gunna prove to me why I added you on my team. You’re gunna beat him!” Chikorita shook a bit at the way Silver cursed low in her ears. The kid pushed himself off of the ground, and casually walked around from behind the trees. He moved almost seamlessly through their trunks as she revealed himself to Tristan. Silver’s hands began clapping and giving Tristan a solo performance as he applauded the other trainer’s efforts. “Bravo, bravo. Care to see if you don’t suck against a real trainer? CHIKORITA, COME ON!” He asked, then turned around and yelled commandingly at his Pokemon. Chikorita came darting out from behind the trees. The Pokemon had to jump, however, as Silver’s booted foot came swinging at the Pokemon. He kicked at his starter, his fist balled up and his nostrils flaring. “Can’t you keep up like a decent Pokemon?!” He seemed to curse at his Pokemon. Then he turned back to Tristan, regaining his composure. “Anyways…like I was saying. I’m looking for halfway decent chumps to level my Chikorita against. You looked like you might survive at least two hits, which is why I thought I’d ask. Ya not scared, are ya?” He asked with a bit of a devious chuckle.

Tristan had thoroughly enjoyed his battle against Mikey, the young fellow was an energetic yet respectful individual with a ton of untapped potential. It seemed as though there had been eyes keenly invested on his previous battle as a crimson haired boy emerged from behind the trees nearby, sarcastically clapping as he mocked fun at Tristan. Tristan looked at the boy with a puzzled look on his face, the crimson haired boy seemed like he had a bone to pick and it just so happened to be the case that Tristan was that bone. Tristan couldn't believe his eyes as the trainers pokemon, a Chikorita, darted out from behind the trees and proceeded to get kicked by its trainer. Tristan shook his head in disbelief at the way this guy was treating his own pokemon, Neptune looked on and was frightened by the situation he had just witnessed. Tristan had been taught to respect everyone from a young age, this crimson haired fellow definitely didn't deserve an inkling of respect,
"Ooh someone's Dad left to the shop to get a pack of smokes and never returned..."
Tristan chuckled at his own verbal jab towards the crimson haired boy, he was sure that it would grind his gears. Neptune had turned his attention to looking towards Tristan with a worried look on his face, was the blonde haired boy about to send him into battle against that monster!? Tristan gave Neptune a reassuring smile to his worried looking little partner,
"Time to teach you a thing or two about respect, let's get things going with an Ice Beam attack Neptune!"
Neptune's fears had come to life as he was indeed being thrown into the deep end of the pool in a sink or swim situation. Tristan was confident in his seahorse-like pokemon despite the fact that he was definitely still young and inexperienced, the only way to learn was through practice. Tristan's approach to handling his pokemon was a calm one that involved trust and patience, something his new adversary standing across from him couldn't preach.
