Winter Wonderland [Fin]

You wouldn’t normally expect Pokemon to be as lively and active in the midst of night as the wild purple monkey and the green spider, who had previously spent their time tussling on the ground. The wild bug Pokemon’s aim was to calm the furry monkey down. It had hoped to slow the fast-moving normal type, who antics had destroyed its once beautiful silky home. They didn’t expect the interruption of the blonde-haired trainer, nor did they expect to be joined by the bushy-tailed fox and its bipedal yellow dual type steel and fairy companion.

The Aipom pulled and yanked its way through the sticky stringy mess, only to come face to face with the bushy-tailed brown fox who came crashing directly into the purple monkey. Aria’s head rammed into Aipom’s chest, knocking the wind out of the Pokemon. It wheezed and coughed in a fit. The Aipom was enraged and began pounding its tail into the ground – torn between having the green bug as a previous opponent, and now coming face-to-face with two new opponents. In its fit it would push its way past the Eevee.

The Aipom moved swiftly on its feet and rushed forward towards Tess. It swung its clawed arms reflexively and used its sharp claws to dig and tear into Tessa’s right shoulder. It bellowed out, a loud,“aiiii! War-cry that decreed its determination to take out its opponents. Tess moved in swiftly. Tess began shouting and crying out in a powerful voice as she made deafening scary faces that would astonish and shock the Spinarak.

The wild Spinarak leaped backwards in alarm and spun around its eyes landed firmly on the bushy-tailed fox – a safer target than the other Pokemon who had seemed much scarier in comparison. Spinarak would use long vine-like webbing that the spider shot out and used to wrap around Aria in a tightened embrace. Lenore’s immediate reaction to throw her Pokemon into battle might have temporarily caught the two wild Pokemon off-guard, but it had brought the two foes working together in the moment as they took on Tess and Aria.

The large ebony maw mottled with crocodile teeth hadn't quite done the job Tess would have liked. She huffed to herself in annoyance that the spider not only wasn't shaking at her presence but had ignored her altogether. Instead she was assaulted by the loud monkey. Its dull nails scraped noisily against her steel hide causing quite the unpleasant noise. Lenore flinched as a result. That uncomfortable tingle at her fingertips as if she'd just imagined running them down a chalkboard.

"What a nuisance," she hissed to herself. Her eyes followed the erratic movements of the aipom for a moment. "What the heck is it?" Red shrug her shoulders and grumbled, uncaring. "I didn't expect you to," the dancer lightly snapped back. Lenore didn't need to know exactly what her charmeleon was saying. They'd been together just long enough she was starting to pick up on general intent.

"You're doing great out there!" she called out. Empty encouragement. Tess half rolled her eyes but Aria would take it. While their trainer was busy digging through her bag for that dex thing the professor had given her, the pair of pokémon were left to their own devices. Just the way the mawile preferred it.

Tess spun herself around and attempted to get back the attention of the spider. She kept her large horns behind her and put on a sweet face. With a smile and bright eyes she hopefully wouldn't seem quite as daunting a foe. The deceiving pokémon aimed to lull the spinarak into a false sense of security then whip around for another astonishing attack. Aria on the other hand wasn't quite as decisive. Lenore was trusting her to do her best again, but there were two opponents this time. Attacking the monkey had just sent it off toward her scary friend and then the spider came at her. Tess seemed to be focusing on the spider... So that's what she'd do too!

The wild purple monkey chattered loudly and angrily. “Aaaaiiiipommmm!” It’s eyes darted around the dark battlefield illuminated only by the pale moon light and the stars in the sky above. The purple prime ape had been caught between a rock and a hard place, trapped between enemy after enemy after enemy. It slammed the palmed end of its tail down on the ground, followed by the tiny palms of its hands that it would beat repetitively on the earthen ground beneath it. A challenge issued to the Spinarak, Aria, and Tess. If they wanted a fight, then the Aipom would deliver – no matter how futile it might have seemed.

Aria would move first. The bushy-tailed brown-and-cream colored fox slipped like a blur across the ground at high speed, zipping through the bundles of tall grass and open route land. The bushy-tailed normal type Pokemon collided into the small green arachnid, who jumped up in shock and surprise to only make itself more of a target. The Eevee’s harsh attack flung the Spinarak backwards through the dirt earth and into a thicket of tall tall green grass. Although there was no movement, no shuffling of the grasses. The Spinarak had fainted, completely knocked out of the fight.

Now that just left two enemies. The Aipom pounded the ground again, over, and over. It used the palm on the end of its tail to gather up twigs, thick clumps of sand and random debris that it tossed in rapid succession at the bushy-tailed fox. Out of the two enemies left, the Aipom could tell that this fox was its most dangerous adversary. The purple monkey needed to slow this fox down – lower its sharp senses to provide the purple furred monkey an advantage to miss its strong attacks. Tess attacked with another astonishing wave of scary ghostly faces and loud shouts, but unlike the Spinarak her attack had no effect on the Aipom….

Aria had no idea what to do as she was pelted with random debris. Sand got in her eyes, little twigs and prickles got stuck in her fur. She wailed as it all stung. Her thick fur protected her from the other things the aipom had thrown her way but the sand! The evolution pokémon desperately raised a paw to try and rub out what had gotten beneath her eyelids but it just made it all worse. Much worse! She cried again, turning around and around until she finally spotted Lenore then bound over to the dancer. No wonder that nidoran♀ earlier had been so mad!

Tess was steaming. Not from any camaraderie or anger toward the wild monkey for making Aria cry, but quite the opposite. The eevee had interfered in the mawile's fight. Not just that, but had stolen the victory. Her improvised go at the new target hadn't worked out at all either. Tess had been completely ignored. She was glad Aria had gotten some comeuppance for her actions. Lenore of course wasn't quite on the same page. Whatever. Tess moved in to take Aria's place and began turning on the water works. Once again hiding her big scary jaws she tried to get Aipom's attention to her cut little face. Tears welling in her eyes she began to sniffle.

"Oh hun!" she called, bending down to brush some of the sand off of her eevee's fur. "I know it's awful but the only way to make it stop is through, okay? Go give that monkey a taste of its own sand. It makes you feel bad, you make it feel worse. Got it?"

Aria nodded, whining a little but it made sense. If the monkey was going to throw sand around well... she could do that too and see how it liked it. With the thought of revenge boiling in her chest the newly determined eevee rejoined the fight. She squinted through the watery blur coating her eyes and made an attempt at a sand attack. As she did this however she picked up on the sound of crying. Confused, Aria paused and snooped around. Ears flicking back and forth until she homed in on the source: Tess. A hatred began darkening in the eevee toward Aipom. What had it done to her, to Tess of all pokémon, to make her cry?

The kind-hearted eevee made her way to Tess' side. She wasn't sure what she could do, but she was going to help Tess. Help her in any way she could. Aria stood, proud and tall, by the steel fairy and gave a confident bark. That seemed to draw Tess' attention. The mawile stopped crying and looked at Aria with a hint of confusion for a second. But she thought she understood the intent. That dark smile edge Tess' face once again as she began whipping up a strong wind.

Aipom jumped around and seemingly celebrated Aria's discomfort although it looked a lot like it frustrated and angry slamming the ground like it had done before, it just hopped a bit more around and wasn't so loud.
Tess had no trouble getting the purple monkey's attention, as far as it knew it was down to one opponent, having taken care of the two other already. Technically not on its own, but they were all its opponent and as long as it stood standing it was winning, and it didn't care much if it was itself or another who was behind the knock out.
Aipom hesitated when Tess began to wail, large tears streaming down her face, as it had no idea what to do with a thing like that. Several emotions was seen flashing over its face, confusion, joy, pity and then it looked creeped out as it glanced at her large jaws and remembered what she was. This big-mouthed scary looking creature was really, really hard to associate with a timid crying female as Tess attempted to look like.
Aipom tried to build up some of its anger and slammed its hands and tail in the ground while growling threateningly. Tess was its last opponent and it just needed to handle her to be victorious and get on with its peaceful night.
Lenore and Red was ignored as they hadn't moved any closer and Aipom didn't expect them to be anything else than onlookers

Aria wasn't noticed before she sent sand raining down upon the aipom who jumped in surprised and then screeched frustrated as it got a taste of its own medicine.
What a cheater! Using Aipoms own weapon against it and after having pretended she left the fight altogether!
Aipom scrambled forward, Tess forgotten completely again as it threw itself after the eevee, and missed her completely in a mixture of rage, darkness and irritated eyes. The crash landing it made cooled it down a bit, as it staggered to its feet it glared at the eevee, who had joined the mawile and they looked to be awfully good friends.
A shimmering pink veil began to gather around Tess and the aipom narrowed its eyes and slammed its tail into the dirt.
"Pom!" It said, mostly to itself and then rushed forward.

Tess would be prepared as the purple monkey came racing at her and she would tense in expectation of a hit as it stopped right in front of her. It didn't came, instead Aipom grinned to her and in the darkness it was hard to tell if it was a good hearted one or not.
Unexpectedly a hand suddenly grabbed her waist and shoved her to the ground where she laid astonished. Her concentration was broken.

Tess was really getting hot now. The cheeky monkey was using her own attack against her, and worse it actually got her to flinch. She'd used it multiple times on the spider and never had such luck. The steel fairy glared daggers at Aipom, running the last attack over in her mind again and again. Perhaps she could figure out what exactly about it had triggered her reaction and be able to use that against her enemies next time... Though just getting stronger was a valid option. She was tired of all these people and pokémon walking all over her. Dark Cave visitors, Lenore included, and now this... this..!

The mawile stomped her foot in frustration, crying out in hurt frustration. This caught Aria's attention, ears turning to hear her ally before pulling back in similar anger. Her eyes were still a wreck but it seemed like she had still be effective enough with her last few actions. The eevee considered rushing forward to try and take care of the primeape herself, but... The evolution pokémon turned her bleary vision onto her fairy friend. Tess was emanating determination and a desire for the win against this foe.

With a nod Aria decided on a plan of action. She'd stick with helping Tess land the final blow, but perhaps she could still take a more active role than previous. Before she stayed idle, waiting for a queue that never came. But that just made the aipom target Tess. This time Aria stepped forward and began to try and taunt the wild pokémon into focusing on her instead. Hopefully then Tess could get her attack off and finish this finally.

Lenore stayed back, quiet. Pleased that her little fluffball was continuing to act intelligently throughout the battle without being given much direction. Though, perhaps a little less direct attacking than the dancer would prefer but it was still managing to be effective for the most part. But after the last round effectively being stagnant her patience levels dropped rather drastically.

"C'mon you two, get rid of that horrible thing so we can get back to Violet." Red supported the idea with a grunt, her long shadow cast from the flickering of her tail fire swaying a bit as she tried to entertain herself. She could have finished this an age ago by herself.

Where the bushy-tailed fox aimed to provide a distraction, the Aipom’s short-sighted frame of mind would follow. The furry purple prime ape was appalled and upset by its attackers. From the now removed green bug, to the strange steel-fleshed Pokemon with the oddly shaped appendix growing from out of its skull with the large crocodile teeth, down to the furry brown fox, they had each invoked the purple monkey’s anger and frustration. It simply wanted to swing still through the trees without a care in the world, leaping about from branch to branch. But no – here these two stood, uninvited but still fighting, nonetheless.

The purple monkey slammed the thick palm of its tail, balled up into a tight fist, into the earthen ground. The pale moonlight afforded a limited range of sight through the darkness and the shadows. The sand and debris stung at the corners of the Aipom’s eyes, and it squinted in its attempt to keep a sharp eye on its opponents. “Aaaaaiiiiiii POM!” A belligerent roar, determined to undermine and threaten their very livelihood. Come to wreck this monkey’s world, and it would swing back aiming for your life.

The Eevee taunted the Aipom, driving the Aipom’s sights to focus on the bushy-tailed fox. In its determination and limited thought process, it would have missed Aria’s and Tess’ glowing luminescence. The bushy-tailed fox slipped over to its alley, placing a singular paw in reassurance and determination as it boosted its team-mate’s strength and morale, and they both glowed. Was it simply the moon playing tricks on the Aipom? Whatever. The monkey ran forward in what seemed like a blind rage and lashed out with its claws, ripping, and tearing at Aria and the thick fluff of her fur to reach down to her skin.

The strange steel-type with the black crocodile maw shooting out like a bad growth from the back of her skull began to spin around. Her body worked in a fast motion, spinning perilously, and creating her own windy vortex as sparks started to kick up and spin within the harsh winds. The winds beat the Aipom all about, knocking the furry purple monkey this way and that as they assaulted the purple monkey from all angles. It spun about in the cyclone for a short moment, before it would fall to the ground. Defeated.

"Hah!" the sidelined woman laughed at the monkey's amusing pirouette of defeat. "What style Tess," she added, a short clap accompanying the praise. The young mawile put her hands on her hips. A smug grin sweeping across her face she she looked down upon both of the defeated opponents. That was more like it.

"And y-" Lenore was cut off by the beams of a soft silver light. She winced at first. Eyes squinting as she looked for the source of the sudden disturbance. Another nuisance? No. Tess spun around to witness her sister in arms' transformation in a wash of jealousy. First the eevee defeated her opponent, then she needed her help to beat the screaming ape, and now she takes her limelight? There was just no end to it. The steel fairy crossed her arms and pouted, stepping back away as the gleaming energies built to a climax.

"Beautiful..." The words slipped quietly from the dancer's lips. Once passed the uncomfortable brightness Aria's form wasn't unlike the surface of a clear full moon. Lenore smirked, hands pressed against her chest in anticipation. She knew what this was. She knew what was coming. The moment the light broke way into a million cold sparkles she leaped forward to wrap her arms around her new umbreon. "My sweet Aria, look at you!" she cried happily before rubbing her cheek against the short ebony fir of her pokémon's new form. "All grown up."

Aria was gleeful of the events transpiring. She felt solid, powerful, and a calm to the anger from before. She was able to help Tess and keep her trainer pleased. The ecstatic woman however would open her eyes after nuzzling the moonlight pokémon to a rather disgruntled mawile. Lenore smiled at Tess, stretching over from her crouch to pull the fiesty pokémon closer and give her a reassuring pat on the head.

"You just beat something I'm pretty sure was stronger than you babe. That isn't going unnoticed." Lenore tapped a finger playfully on the flat nose of the mawile. Lenore stood up and sighed, head tipping back to stare at the starry sky. "But first... I need a drink."

She recalled her two fighters, leaving just Red to accompany her, and resumed her retreat back to Violet. After the day she'd had this was a good way to end it off. Kids weren't going to ruin her next attempt at breaking through to Azalea.
