A season of snow and ice. A time of death, and a symbol of the end. Histories recounted the tales of travelers who wondered out into the frozen tundra, only to vanish and never resurface in the coming days. Zaiden clung tightly to his Pokeballs, his body convulsing in small shivers.
It’s the best time of the year.
His chocolate brown eyes studied the two Pokeballs that he clung desperately to his chest. His thoughts wavered, teetering on indecision as he debated with himself. Surely, Baunsu and Hageshii preferred the comforts of the spherical devices. Wouldn’t they still be cozy and warm, trapped inside of there dome cells?
Charmander placed one paw on Zaiden’s pants legs. Kogasu’s inquisitive eyes seemed sullen and full of sorrow. The fires that burned inside of her magical body warmed her from within, though the foggy, blistering cold of the winter morning clawed at her from the outside. Only the light of the little bipedal reptile’s orange tail illuminated the path ahead of them.
I don’t know if there’ll be snow.
Kogasu tugged on Zaiden’s pants and pointed in the distance. Zaiden stopped, turning his attention to his fire breathing friend. What did she want this time? He turned his head in the direction that the little reptile pointed, but only saw the foggy sheet of white that blanketed the land. Zaiden balanced the two Pokeballs in one hand, and used his other hand to grab Charmander’s paw.
He gave her a small tug. Come on, girl. The young lady thought, trying to redirect the Pokemon. The warm, cozy jacket that swallowed him whole wasn’t quite enough to brave this winter day. A bellowing, almost tearful hum played on the air, though it was just the sound of the whirling winds bouncing off objects nearby.
But have a cup of cheer.
Then, something dawned in Zaiden’s head like a lightbulb. The egg! He quickly replaced the Pokeballs on his belt, and yanked his backpack off of his back. The young lad rummaged through the backpack. Fear seized his heart as he managed to pull the poor, almost-white egg out of his backpack. Zaiden quickly stuffed it underneath his jacket and his shirt, trying to bury it against himself so that he could give the egg all of his warmth.
”Char...” Kogasu cried out in a soft whimper. She seemed determined to lead him through a thicket of trees. But why? Surely it was too dense for the young trainer to pass through easily? And besides, with this heavy weather, there was no way Zaiden could clearly se where he was even going!
When you walk down the street.
Step by step. Each footstep would sink deeper into the snow that was piling up on the ground. It doesn’t matter as much! Zaiden thought to himself, with a scowl. No matter what, I have to find shelter for this little guy! And for my team. Kogasu, confused as to why Zaiden wouldn’t just listen and follow her advise, toddled slowly behind him.
Where all trainers this stubborn and hardheaded? Or did she get the luck of the draw on this one? Kogasu loved Zaiden. Though this strange Pokemon trainer often left the fire type with questions than she would ever have answers for. Denied of her request, the Charmander had no other choice but to stay close and follow behind Zaiden.
[OOC: Can we count this towards my egg? Also, update my Pokedex to include my Spearow capture and his encounter with Weedle? Word Count: 571 With the Lyrics, 540 without the Lyrics.]
It surely was white. The ground was white from the snow, and the trees was white, and the fog lay heavily between the trees and made it all even more confusing. There weren't anything familiar in sight and they could just as well be walking in circles, they might never get out of the forest if they continued like this.
A small figure appeared in the fog and slowly got bigger (but never big) as it moved closer to them. Slowly a wurmple crawled out of the white, its red colors blazing against the background. "Wurmple?" It asked and tilted its little head a bit as it looked curious at Zaiden. Kogasu's flame caught its attention but it didn't seem afraid at all. It turned around and crawled a bit back of where it had come from, and then paused to look back at them expectantly.
If they followed it through the snow, they wouldn't go far, even though they could be going in any direction, and might even in circles. In the fog it was hard to tell. Wurmple lead the way down under a huge pine, which branches was full of needles which kept the ground below it free from snow. A thick layer of brown needles lay there as well and made the place soft, but Kogasu would have to be careful with her flame so she didn't set it all ablaze. Wurmple didn't seem to think it about that could be a problem, perhaps it had never seen fires before? It looked expectantly at Zaiden and Kogasu, what did it want?
Happy squeals of delight broke through the cover of the trees, and if they looked out under the branches, they would be able to see several other wurmples having fun outside in the snow. They had found a little hill and was gliding down it, to them this was surely a winter wonderland.
A Wurmple [lvl 2] finds you and tries to help you.
(ooc: eggcount added, and I asked Lamont, you can count the weedle as seen in the pokedex quest. As I said you just need to ask for it in your pokedex quest thread with the form ^^)1-42
Although Zaiden’s steps carried him further through the snow, it felt as though he was getting no where. Each pace forward only brought him through more of the frigid icy white fog. Sometimes, trees would barely silhouette through the dense foggy atmosphere. Though much of their branches and leaves would remain hidden behind the sheen white overcast. “Charmander Char!” Kogasu growled desperately, becoming noticeably more chatty.
Zaiden stopped in his tracks briefly. Like so many times before, he would glance down at the orange lizard with it’s creamy underbelly and brightly lit flame. Curiosity mingled with confusion, as he tried to understand just what she wanted. Was she hungry? The world was her bathroom, so she couldn’t be asking to ‘go outside’ when they were already there. “Char Char Charmander! Char! Chamander char mander!” She continued, now tugging at the edge of his pants legs.
Zaiden paused to kneel down beside the little fire type Pokemon. He would place a single hand on her shoulder, massaging her scales softly with his fingertips, while the other hand gripped onto the egg he kept underneath his coat. Perhaps she was scared, and the wintry wonderland had spooked her. Zaiden wasn’t so sure why she wanted she kept slowing their journey down by pulling so feverishly on his pants legs. Still, the small orange lizard’s skin was quite warm to the touch – he imagined part of that was due to the fire that coursed within her.
Something caught the young lad’s eyes. His soft, chocolate brown eyes tried to focus on the form – like a tiny reddish...no, pinkish dot or line moving along on the ground. What was that? “Ccharrr..” a small growl rumbled just underneath Charmander’s lips, as her fists clenched tighter to Zaiden’s pants. His grip tightened on her, his other hand holding onto the Seal egg underneath his jacket the entire time.
“H-hey there, little fella.” Zaiden’s words tumbled off of his lips. They sounded almost dead and empty on the air – only accompanied by the sounds of Pokemon cries and the rustling winds. He timidly reached out his hand he had previously used to comfort Kogasu, and extended it towards the strange pinkish-reddish silhouette. Perhaps it was another Pokemon – not quite an empty, but just timid in it’s movements?
Of course, sometimes only fools reached out to the unknown, unaware that they would get bit.
Kogasu had obviously caught onto what the Wurmple was trying to tell them. She released Zaiden’s dark denim jeans from her grip and slowly started walking after the Wurmple, as it wondered away. Confusion lighted the young man’s eyes. He used both of his hands to hold onto the egg, as he steadied himself onto his feet and hoisted his body to stand up. “Where are you going?” His words questioned his partner, and soon even he was walking after them.
The silhouette of a massive pine tree grew bigger and bigger as they followed the Wurmple to it’s destination. What was once just a greyish shadow, soon became a mix of white fog and long, greyish brown branches jutting out from the base of the tall coniferous plant. Thick green leaves decorated the branches, defying the season altogether. Kogasu would settle near the brown needles, but she purposefully held her tail up and close to herself, trying to avoid all the ignitable plant material that now surrounded her.
Zaiden’s eyes studied the sight just beyond, where other small reddish-pink bodies spent their winter day, sliding down the hillside in wonderment. He was grateful for the Wurmple’s hospitality. Zaiden would bend down, carefully settling just underneath the tree for the moment. He rummaged through his bag and pulled out some small camp food – ready-to-eat bars that weren’t exactly the tastiest substance on earth. What they lacked in taste, they made up for in their versatility. Zaiden opened the plastic wrap around the food and broke off a small corner of it. He would place the piece on the ground near the Wurmple. Did they like such things? Or, was it just his need to bond as a social species, that compelled him to share his meal?
Kogasu would take the piece that Zaiden offered her eagerly. Although, her face contorted slightly and grimaced as she immediately seemed to regret that decision. "CHAR!" Zaiden laughed, and shook his head. “It’s no Curry dish, girl.” He added, with a soft shake of his head. “Right now...I’m not sure I could get a fire started to make one...orr that it would be safe to do so.” He added, commenting on the weather. Perhaps, when all was said and done, the Wurmple would join them in their journey?
[OOC: Word Count: 777 | Please apply credits to my egg. ^^]
Wurmple watched Zaiden and Kogasu curiously as they moved around under the shelter. It's curiosity clearly got sparked when the human took off a part of him and the stuck his arm into it. The thing he pulled out was an unknown as everything else about them, and it stared in amazement as Zaiden helped it shed its outer layer to then break a piece of it off and place on the ground for it. Wumrple watched Kogasu's reaction before it crawled closer and inspected the bar and then carefully tasting it. It eyes widened as it chewed in wonder, it was hard to say if it thought it taste good or bad, but it certainly was something new to it.
It tilted its head slightly when it had finished its meal and called out quietly, "wuurmple?" It asked if they were cold and told Kogasu that the best way to be warm was to move. It rose higher so that its front stubs were more visible and moved them around in what could be seen as a boxing motion, if you had a good imagination. It gestured with its head towards the playing worms and said that they kept warm by playing and that they could do that as well, if they wanted to. It reassured Kogasu it was possible to play below the pine as well, they wouldn't need to step out into the snow. It looked expectantly at them.
The wurmple [lvl 2] suggests you play battle with it.

Zaiden's soft chocolate brown hues watched the reddish-pink bug Pokemon carefully consider his offer. A soft smile played gently on the edges of the young boy's lips, illuminating his face. He watched as the Wurmple accepted the small bite of his granola bar. The small caterpillar Pokemon's bright reddish color seemed to stand out and glow in the frigid, foggy snowfall. His smile mixed with a half-hearted laugh, as Zaiden watched Kogasu still chew on the granola.
The orange lizard Pokemon spat out the last bits of the food onto the prickly pine needles below. Kogasu pulled her lips back in a sort of disgusted grimace as she studied the remnants of the meal on the ground. Humans will eat anything! The fire type Pokemon considered silently to herself. Her eyes wondered over to the Wurmple, and her face grew bright with an excitable smile lighting her features.
Oh, just what she needed!"Charmander!" Her words piped up. Eager anticipation caused the Pokemon to leap forward, launching herself onto her feet as she would face off with the reddish-pink bug Pokemon. "Char charmander!" You didn't have to ask her twice. She considered the notion that movement would keep the body nice and warm. Although the fires within her seemed to keep her spirits bright, Kogasu generally agreed with the Wurmple.
You always felt warmer when your body was in motion. Kogasu looked back anxiously at Zaiden, who offered no words or thoughts of his own. He seemed to nod his head absentmindedly, and she was unsure whether he had agreed to let her battle or whether he was off in his own mental world. They can be pretty ditsy, too. Kogasu had to consider to herself, formulating her opinions of trainers in general off of Zaiden.
Would he even notice that a Pokemon battle had begun? Zaiden seemed too enthralled with watching the other Wurmple run up and slide down the hill in their winter-land games. Her eyes studied the other Wurmple for a second, and she really considered the Wurmple's suggestion. True, the others seemed to manage keeping themselves warmer at least, by running and playing about.
As she turned back around, she would release a low, guttural and almost chilling sound. Kogasu decided to warm up the play-battle with a not-so-friendly Growl, hoping to unnerve her opponent. She wouldn't really mean that much harm in the end, though. "Char char mander, char!" She followed up her first attack with a sort of reassurance that it was all in the name of a friendly battle.
OOC: 440 Word Count (400 to apply to the egg); Kogasu used Growl.
(First mod post! Lemme know if I missed anything.)
Poor Wurmple was throttled harder by Kogasu's cry than the blistering cold. Kogasu's sudden shift in temperament with her deep, draconic rumbling left the hapless little bug a brief jittering mess, their eyes big and swimming and their eruciform body curled up and around itself. Though Kogasu's reassurance helped, they acted hurt, the responding whine more emotion than meaning -- jibberish.
The theatrics were rather lengthy. This was just part of the fun of battling, right?
Wurmple inched backwards like some eager, prowling predator, squashing itself down in preparation for the pounce. They were taking this seriously, now, they swore! And this was of course reversed when they couldn't help but spit a length of silk over Kogasu. It was more a nuisance than any menacing counter-attack, but her opponent was certainly enjoying the charmander's exposure to stringy buggy spew.

Upon prey-pokemon, a Growl had the reach and ill-omen of a thunderclap. The wurmple stopped frolicking in the snow. Frozen, they watched. There had to be at least five of them, a chorus of beady eyes trying to look as small as they could while one of their own was singled out...

Last Edit: Jan 4, 2020 4:45:06 GMT 11 by Lamont: String shot -2 stages
The young trainer’s soft brown eyes honed in on the small capterpillar Pokemon. Zaiden watched them in a silent awe as they scurried up the side of the hill and slid down to its bottom. They seemed entranced and mesmerized – lost entirely in the moment. He clung to the white, oval-shaped Pokemon egg that he kept tucked gingerly underneath his thick jacket up against his warm skin. Did ice type Pokemon appreciate the cold over the warmth during their incubation process? Zaiden could only silently plead that all of his efforts to ensure that the unknown Pokemon would eventually hatch into without complication.
Fear seized the troop. Zaiden’s milk-chocolate gaze widened in concern, as he watched each of the reddish-pink lengthy bug Pokemon stop dead in their tracks. Their gaze seemed stuck – transfixed on Kogasu and their friend. The tyrant red, fire breathing lizard held their friend hostage on the stage floor, while they stood helpless at the wayside. Sadness crept into the corners of the young boy’s gaze, and his lips drooped in an almost-frown. His fixated gaze watched the other Wurmple watch their friend in an almost horrified silence – unable to help.
Kogasu paused. ”Charmander?” She spoke softly, concerned and worried. Was she being too aggressive and rough with their new friend? The confident and verbose flame-tailed orange Pokemon did all but hold back in most fights – way too eager to win them and prove just how tough and confident she was. But this battle was different.
Then, the Wurmple attacked.
Relief washed over the Charmander like a waterfall. Her chipper expression dawned itself back upon her face, as the Wurmple worked quickly to spit up long threads of silk around her. The string wrapped around her feet, ensnaring her legs and causing her to tumble into the soft white snowy ground as she struggled a bit. It wasn’t hard to rip and tear through the stringy, silky fabric – but it was nearly impossible to remove it completely. Pieces stuck to her fur in the most awkward places. It certainly slowed her speed down.
”Mander!” She called out, giving a very goofy, sort of ‘thumbs up’ with her claws. She seemed to say, ‘Good one!’ to the little reddish-pink caterpillar, praising it for its ingenuity and work. Now, the tough part seemed to be at play. Should she attack with a direct hit, or try to lower her opponent’s guard more?
Unless ordered too, Kogasu didn’t have the heart to use what she considered to be her best move. Flames were rather dangerous for the undergrowth, and may be too damaging to her tiny companion. Instead, she would lung forward with one mighty paw extended. Kogasu rush in to use her sharp claws and rake them across the small bug Pokemon’s frail body. Should her attack land, hopefully that would be strong enough to keep the fight going without her using a move that would have been overkill.
Zaiden whistled. A sharp shrill sound escaped his mouth, as he held two fingers between his lips. He was aiming for the first note to be enough. Previously oblivious to the fight, the young trainer had finally caught up to what was unfolding before him. Disappointment plastered itself onto his face. He wasn’t breaking up the fight just yet, but it was evident that the young trainer was close to calling his Pokemon back. Zaiden had obviously missed the moment where the Wurmple egged Kogasu on into a battle entirely.
[OOC: Word Count is 580. Please apply 400 to my egg.]
The Wurmple grinned wider yet at Kogasu's encouragement, and it made a clicking movement with its jaw that could almost sound like laughing. As Kogasu moved forward with her claws ready to scratch, the Wurmple narrowed its eyes in pretended seriousness again, and lowered its body to take the impact head on. The shrill sound of the trainer's whistle only made it lose it's concentration a little and for a split second it hesitated. The string shot had slowed Kogasu down enough for Wurmple to just barely keep up with the stronger playmate, but the Charmander was still faster and her claws impacted with its skin before it could do anything more. It took all the wurmple's strength to push Kogasu away while it endured the scratching through power of will. It was definitely a work out able to keep the Wurmple warm.
When the Wurmple had finally managed to push Kogasu back into the ground, it was panting heavily from the exercise and bore the marking of her claws all the way down its back. Despite this, it still stood tall, though shaking lightly. Maybe it couldn't feel the pain yet, while adrenaline pumped through its body. It also seemed to have forgotten about the whistle that had distracted it a moment, only focused on Kogasu's reactions and what the Charmander would be up to next.

(Ooc: Wordcount on Seel Egg: 1600/4000 to be updated)
Zaiden’s watched Kogasu scratch the reddish-pink bug Pokemon in horror. His face contorted in a mi of disappointment and anger. Why was his Pokemon attacking the Wurmple, who had been nothing but helpful and kind to them? Was her need to battle so strong, that she simply couldn’t distinguish between those that were friend and those that were true opponents? What the boy had just witnessed, he could hardly believe his eyes.
Kogasu paused and turned to face Zaiden, perplexed. The snowy winter fog weighed heavily on the winds of the evening, though they were close enough to each other to make out each other’s features. The other Wurmple’s reddish-pink glows just highlighted in the distance – more reflections of colors, then actual forms that were easily distinguished through the fog. Why did her trainer seem so upset?“Charmander char?” She seemed to question his disapproval.
The Wurmple’s body bounced against Kogasu, and sent the flame-tailed lizard backwards. Her feet stumbled a bit, as she balanced and righted herself in the snow. “Char charmander char!” She waved to the little caterpillar and applauded its valiant effort. “Char?” Seeing the Pokemon heaving with labored breaths, Charmander questioned if the Wurmple wanted to continue the fight.
Zaiden snapped his fingers, and pointed to the ground beside with. It was a direct order, and he expected his fire type Pokemon to obey it. His eyes held a soft sort of sorrow as he noticed the heavy panting and heaving of the Wurmple. Charmander would walk towards Zaiden, unless Wurmple kept on the assault. She wouldn’t attack, both because of Zaiden’s direct orders and because the orange flame-tailed Pokemon had conflicting emotions about making the Wurmple continue the fight.
He would reach inside of his bag and pull a Pokeball out, placing it on the ground in front of the Pokemon. And offer: Join the team, if the little red Pokemon so wished. Then, he turned to Charmander with a huff. Zaiden placed his hands on his hips and shook his head furiously. “I’m disappointed in you, Kogasu.” He stated, probably the most the young boy has said in a while. “This Wurmple is our friend.” He pulled the Seel egg that he kept clutched to his skin out from underneath his jacket. It was a demonstration to his starter and companion. A reminder of what they were trying to protect, and who all the Wurmple had helped out. Then, Zaiden would quickly tuck the egg back underneath his jacket, to hide it from the elements once more.
[OOC: Word Count: 422, please apply credits to the Seel egg. | Also, Charmander effectively did not attack/"ran" from battle. | If anime logic applies for captures in this circumstances, Zaiden does offer Wurmple a Pokeball to join the team.]
The wurmple looked perplexed as Kogasu's attention turned to her trainer and they both looked displeased and confused. It grinned when the charmander praised it for its tackle and tilted its head when Kogasu asked if it wanted to continue. "Wur-wurmple?" It sounded confused about the word fight and asked what Kogasu meant, they had just been playing to stay warm, why was she talking about fighting?
Zaiden snapped his fingers and caught the wurmple's attention too and it watched intently as the human spoke and Kogasu went to his side. "Wurmple?" It asked if the human had felt left out and had wanted to join the playing. It reassured that Zaiden was more than welcome to if so! It was the best way to keep warm after all and he did look cold.
Wurmple's confused expression turned to a curious one and it crawled a bit closer as Zaiden once more stuck his hand inside the layer of skin he had pulled off earlier. Perhaps he had more funny tasting food that he wanted to share? It's eyes were glued to the colorful sphere he pulled and laid on the ground in front of it, it was intrigued. It had never seen anything as colorful as itself and it crawled forward, then paused to look at Kogasu for confirmation. It was a gift for it, right? It then crept forward and carefully touch it, it made an exclamation when it learned it was solid as a rock! Wurmple gave it a nudge, and a few trying bites but couldn't get through obviously. Then it crawled around in an attempt to figure out how to crack this nut, found the button and gnawed that. "Wur?" Was the last thing heard as the pokeball sprung open and the red light sucked the worm in. The pokeball didn't even shake, but confirmed the catch immediately.
Only a few heartbeats later, screams broke the silence. It was the other wurmples who stared in horror as their friend had disappeared into thin air, evaporated, and was gone! Three of them began to cry inconsolable, while the two bravest began to crawl forward while shouting furiously at the newcomers for having done such cruel deed. Their friend certainly would never come back, it was just like if a bird came and snatched them from the sky, they would never be seen again. The difference this time was that the ones responsible was still on the ground, and they could claim revenge for what they had did. And revenge they demanded!

ZAIDEN KABILAAspiring Champion
Zaiden watched the small worm-like Pokemon in anticipation after he placed the Pokeball on the ground. The way that the Wurmple explored the Pokeball was both cute and interesting. The spiky red Pokemon poked and prodded the spherical device, as though it were testing it out. She doesn’t understand what this is. Realization washed over him, as he gathered his thoughts. The Wurmple’s reactions seemed to suggest that the wild Pokemon either thought that the Pokeball was food or a toy. Will she understand what I am about to do? He wondered to himself, curiously.
The reddish-pink caterpillar wriggled the Pokeball around on the bed of pine needles. It rolled back and forth as the Wurmple toyed around with the device, although it never rolled too far. Then, as if by sheer accident, the long slender red Pokemon’s nose bumped up against the soft white button. The Pokeball popped open with ease. A burst of bright, warm ray of light shot out from the device and engulfed the bug type Pokemon. Within an instance, the Wurmple was zapped inside of the contraption. The wide-eyed Pokemon loud cry was cut short with a confirming ’ding’.
Zaiden stared in excitement and awe. Not only had he managed to befriend this wild creature, but he had given it free will and it chose to join his team. Curiosity and bewilderment questioned just how much of a choice the Wurmple truly had, though. Kogasu bounced in place, exuding excitement and happiness from her small orange frame. He smiled down at her with a nod. Zaiden would reach his free hand down to Kogasu and gently stroke her on the top of her scaly head, as his occupied hand remained in position and cadled the egg tenderly against his warm body.
”Char charmander, char!” The sounds were loud, half-squeaks and half-roars, as Kogasu’s enthusiasm burst from her body. The flame on her tail almost seemed brighter – as though sheer happiness itself had strengthened her all alone. The young lad was just as happy as his Pokemon, too. He felt warmer on the inside, as an inner glow lit up his complexion. The bitter cold only nipped at his heels as a gentle reminder that winter was still here – and here to stay.
This wouldn’t last for long, however.
Two small red lines inched and crawled their way to the trainer and his fire-breathing companion. They were almost identical to his new friend – though something seemed different about these two. It was almost like looking at a night-and-day mirrored reflection of his newfound Pokemon companion. Determination, anger, bewilderment, and horror – all rolled up into an almost incomprehensible, yet repulsive expression on the two bug Pokemon’s face.
“Charmander char charmander!” Kogasu roared at them, balling one of her claws up almost threateningly into a fist. She tried to warn them that they were mistaken, whatever they thought had happened, although she did so in a threatening manner. Zaiden tugged a bit, as he placed his free hand on the flame-tailed Pokemon’s shoulder. When Kogasu turned to stare up at her trainer, he simply shook his head, holding out two other Pokeballs.
He would release the spitfire of a bird Pokemon he had, and more timid rabbit-like Pokemon. Hageshii and Baunsu – two Pokemon who had not previously had the chance to meet each other – would be released onto the battlefield.
Hageshii would soar out of his Pokeball and fly up high into the sky. A loud, raucous ’Caw’ erupted from the shiny golden Spearow’s beak. In an instance, Spearow would barrel down upon its opponent, aiming to land a harsh peck directly onto the Wurmple’s head. Baunsu, however, shivered a bit. Wide eyed, it stared around and slowly processed the depth of its situation.
When Baunsu made eye contact with Zaiden, he would nod slowly as if encouraging the round brown-and-white furry Pokemon. Nervous, it would use Foresight on it’s opponent. The Sentret’s eyes would give off a deep red glow, as it focused – entranced – on the move. What illusions it thought it was dispelling, though...well, who knows.

The Wurmple kept charging, a buggy brigade. The one Hageshii caught fell out of pace and turned on a dime so its spiked back end stood where its head was. But the Spearow's lashes were as dexterous as they were powerful. Its natural predator landed a hit eventually, try as the poor Wurmple might, and it landed hard. The Wurmple surrendered into a curl, its counter-attack falling limply from its mouth parts onto the Spearow's feathers: a loose line of silk.
Its fellow worm continued its beeline towards the Sentret, even paired with a war cry - however guttural a Wurmple "yelling" could come across. Baunsu might have been able to catch a meaning to the Wurmple's cry before it rammed into him (landing with a squeak.)

Zaiden’s free hand scratched the back of his head as his watched the battle intensify. Although Baunsu’s ever-glowing red eyes were eerily daunting to stare at, he was perplexed by the move altogether. The young teen tried to wrap his head around the purpose of the move, and tried to recall what this move must have been named. ’Red eye?’ This made no logical sense. ’Cast glow?’ To what effect? He pulled out the Pokedex, pointing the electronic device at the Pokemon, though frozen to the spot.
Then, the Wurmple attack. One shot out a layer of silky, gooey string as Hageshii right after the Spearow’s powerful Peck attack landed on the poor red bug. Zaiden applauded his bird Pokemon, placing the Pokedex up to free his one available hand. He clapped his hand on the side of his thick denim pants leg in enthusiasm. The mousy-brown haired boy nodded and pointed to the other Wurmple when Hageshii smirked in his direction in affirmation. Shaping the hand into a very rough ‘beak’ outline, he mimicked the manner in which the golden feathered bird had swiftly pecked the other Wurmple.
“Baunsu, Scratch.” His words would break through the winter morning air, mixed with the war cries of Pokemon caught in the heat of the battle. The round, brown furred normal type Pokemon stopped, his large rabbit-like ears perking to stand straight up at he listened carefully to his trainer. A single shiver ran along his spin as he gave an affirming nod. The delivery of the command was received and understood. The rabbit-like brown Pokemon with a bullseye marking on its stomach would rush at the already weakened Wurmple, claws extended out to scratch his opponent, hopefully to land the final blow.
Baunsu may have heard the cry, mixed with anger and pain like a bad roller-coaster of emotions that assaulted his ears. But the normal type Pokemon didn’t quite register its full meaning. Hageshii cared less, however. The bird would rise back up into the air to swiftly peck the other Wurmple, after he managed to clean himself off. Slowed by the sticky substance, the shiny golden Pokemon pulled and prodded at the stringy mess that clung to and covered his wings. He sort of hopped forward, with short bursts that lifted him up in the air and lunged him forward, as he flapped his wings about. The once wild Spearow simply couldn’t allow the reddish-pink bugs, that should have been easy meals, to assault him like this. Now, it was personal.
[OOC: Word Count: 421. Please Update Eg Count. It should be 2400/4000 before this post, after re-calculating the posts. 7 posts of 400+ words, should be 2800/4000. Note: I've posted in the updates also! Hageshii used Peck on Wurmple on the left, Baunsu used Scratch on one to the right.]
The Wurmple closest to Baunsu moved again to rush him down. The pokemon collided just as Sentret bumbled over it, over to its partner - the wurmple gurgled a late warning.
Thwick - the glint of claws in morning sun. Baunsu's running start stopped just beyond the other bug. There was a pause - it was just like a movie - and the opponent fell.
Physically panicking, the other Wurmple's infantile cries were sent skyward. Incidentally, this was were their attention went the least; it was where their opponent was coming from. With the last of the silk free from its wings, Hageshii descended heavily on the remaining Wurmple.
A Peck to to the back of the head - roll credits.

What had once been a paradise for the lowest rung of the forest food chain had been abandoned in haste. Only hints betrayed the Wurmples' absence: half-nibbled leaves; long trails and proleg "footprints" from prior frolicking; a crowd of ogling, black eyes peering out from frosted bushes and tree hollows. They had not given up on their territory yet - somewhere, there was hope.
Perhaps a wind had finally picked up, rustling the woods' canopy overhead. But a shadow was cast upon Zaiden then, lingering, waiting...
...for vengeance served cold.
COLONY LEADER BEAUTIFLY (Lv10) appeared! This lepidopteran is a little too testy to capture.
(( I'll be the first to admit I have no idea how moves are updated w/ user codes but I do know where to update the egg count now! Sorry for the confusion there. ))
Zaiden’s lips stretched and curled across his face in excitement. Slowly, the fourteen year old boy pulled the white Seel egg free from underneath his heavy, black-and-blue winter jacket. He turned it slowly in his hands as he studied it, before placing a solitary ear on the eggshell. Movement – faint, but steady and true! Happiness and joy mixed into a hybrid emotion of pure thankful bliss. The young boy would quickly tuck the egg back up underneath his jacket, just happy that the Seel was managing to keep kicking through the frigid cold.
Baunsu ran over to Zaiden. He knelt down and slowly patted the small brown furred creature on the top of his egg. The rabbit’s ears twitched as they stood up straight on his head. The Sentret made soft, almost purring noises in hushed whispers off of its voice. Hageshii lifted himself up off of the ground and fluttered over to land on Zaiden’s shoulder – slightly more on the boy’s back than the shoulders. The bird Pokemon’s sharp talons gently clung onto the boy’s shirt, digging just through the cotton layer to graze skin. He laughed, nodding his head at both of his Pokemon.
He would pull his hand free and slowly stroke Hageshii. His fingers ran through the bird’s feathers, underneath Hageshii’s chin and down the Spearow’s chest. The dual normal flying type Pokemon stretched its golden wings out and flapped them several times, with quick chirping noises whose notes seemed lost somewhere between amusement and frustration. Zaiden sighed, shaking his head, before turning back to the normal type brown-and-white redundant rabbit, whose jumped up and down nervously in front of Zaiden for his attention.
But they weren’t alone.
Soon, a majestic and beautiful Beautifly fluttered down from wherever it previously dwelt. Zaiden jolted back, barely managing to keep a firm grip on the Pokemon egg that he kept tucked underneath his shirt. As he jumped up to his feet, Baunsu squirreled and zipped around him nervously, ducking to hide behind his trainer. The human trainer was much taller than the timid little Sentret, and made an impressive bodyguard to the unknown.
Hageshii shrieked, releasing a loud and startled chirp. The bird would take to the airway just above Zaiden. He searched around angrily, as he carried on with loud, boisterous squawked. “Spearow SPEARRR SPEAR!” Sentret shook, before Spearow landed and prodded his traveling companion rather harshly. Spearow seemed to suggest that Baunsu learn to toughen up.
Zaiden carefully placed the egg down on the pine needles for a second. Using both his hands, he would pull his own Pokemon apart and shake his fingers disappointingly as them. While they argued, separated by the lad who carefully stood between them, the tawny young kid pulled out Shiwa’s Pokeball and click the button in the middle, sending the Wurmple out to meet the gorgeous Beautifly. Something seemed to click in the young boy’s mind – perhaps this Pokemon just needed to see how safe its friend was?
Shiwa chipped up, happily with loud, singsong notes. “Wurmple Wurm Wurmple!” She gurgled, soft buggy notes of happiness caressing their way off of the bugs’ merry notes. Shiwa bounced and bobbed up and down for several seconds, before the Wurmple would crane her head up at the Beautifly that fluttered above her. “Wurm?” the reddish-pink bug questioned, perplexed. Shiwa seemed to ask ’What’s wrong?’, as she wasn’t that willing to battle her old Colony Leader.
