Damien appeared at the doors of the gym with Storm at his side. Their battle with Silver, that had occurred the previous day, seemed long in the past. It was a new day. It was about to happen, they were about to try to win their first gym badge. At his side, the electric sheep seemed as ecstatic (pun intended) and excited as his trainer. Storm carried a gleeful expression on his face and its lit up tail bobbed back and forth between left and right. They were determined, but at the same time were very happy they had made it this far.
“Alright, let’s do this Storm.” “Mareeeep.” the mareep nodded, preparing itself for a battle. It calmed itself down a bit to try to get itself in a good battle-ready state. Truth be told, he was a tad bit nervous, but the wool Pokemon knew that it was capable of winning the upcoming battle. If Storm needed back-up, he knew the rest of the team would be willing to step up. Even so, the sheep still felt nerves as they proceeded to walk into the power operated door.
Damien and Storm looked around the gym as they walked towards the battlefield, where Falkner would be awaiting their challenge. The fall to the ground looked like it could’ve been for miles! This wasn’t a good time to be someone scared of heights, that was for sure. Damien and his Pokemon didn’t let it bother them. Storm moved his gaze back towards a trainer sitting down across the battlefield. The gym leader definitely couldn’t have been older than Damien from appearance. Maybe the same age, but not older.
“My name is Damien,” he said, approaching the young leader. “We would like to challenge you to a battle!” “Mar-mareeep!” Storm agreed with his trainer. This was it. The fight for Damien and his team’s first gym badge had finally come. They had no intention of backing down no matter what happened. It was sure to be a good fight.
This is gonna be fun, Damien thought to himself.

From the nearly birds eye view provided by the canopy of the gym Falkner and his pidgey watched the winds blow along the thick natural fencing provided by the trees surrounding the city. Each leaf fluttered rapidly, providing a sparkling effect as they alternated between showing top or underside. The bird cooed from his perch on the gym leader's arm. A twitch of its wings accompanied, causing the relatively young lad to run a finger from the bird's chin down its plumage. The action also made the blue-haired boy catch the approach of a new challenger. Falkner couldn't help but notice the trotting sheep beside Damien. But the sight didn't get the normal reaction a bird keeper would express. Instead he grinned. "Well you two are certainly prepared," he began, grin still apparent. "I, Falkner, accept your challenge for the chance to earn the Zephyr Badge." It sounded a bit rehearsed, unpolished even. He'd been doing this for a while now but everyone always came up with some different way to issue the challenge, and in his effort to remain as professional as his father the young gym leader practiced quite a few responses in an attempt to mimic the man. His head turned to the stout sparrow still seated on his arm. "And he is going to be your first opponent," Falkner indicated, lifting his arm to give Pidgey the signal it was time to move. The small bird flapped to life, setting itself down not too far away on the floor tiles in front of the gym leader. "Good luck Damien." Falkner has accepted Damien's challenge! He sent out Pidgey (LV 10)Weather = Gusting

“We do our best to be prepared.” Damien said in response to Falkner’s compliment. “Alright Storm, here we go.” Damien ushered to the wool Pokemon, and it assumed a position in front of his trainer. The true battlefield of the gym seemed like nothing the mareep had ever seen before. All the battles it had fought with by Damien’s side or alone in the wild had ever had such an elegant or at least purpose-built battlefield. The building had no roof, so the sheep could definitely feel the winds gusting. That would be a benefit for the blue-haired gym leader’s Pokemon, but that wasn’t going to strike any fear into Damien or Storm. The electric-type carried a determined look, only added to by the environment for the battle. “Reep!” He felt prepared for the battle.
The two watched as Falkner showed what would be his first Pokemon choice. A pidgey. The first Pokemon Damien had caught was actually a Pidgey, he remembered. Kara didn’t have much of an issue to defeat that Pidgey, but that was a wild one, not trained by a gym leader. Regardless of the inexperience of Falkner, Damien was sure the pidgey was quite a bit stronger than it first appeared.
“Good luck to you too!” Damien knew he didn’t need luck. Even if he didn’t have luck on his side, he felt like he, Storm, and the rest of the team were properly prepared for whatever the flying types could throw their way. As long as they all stayed strong and gave their best effort in the battle, he was confident they could succeed. Storm let out a deep breath as the battle officially began. “Mareep.” he calmed himself down a bit more. His eyes closed for a moment, relaxing, and then opened back up. Storm’s wooly body was still, with his dark beady eyes fixed on his opponent. The static charge on his wooly coat was visible.
“Alright Storm!” Damien called out to his mareep, smiling confidently. “Let’s get this party started! Hit the pidgey with a powerful thunder shock!” Mareep nodded its head and let out a loud cry. “Mareeep!” He began to harness his electric energy in an attempt to land a jolt of electric energy on the pidgey. Damien knew the electric type was an advantage against flying type Pokemon, so he was confident it’d deal a fair amount of damage.
(OOC: Using Running Shoes, Storm uses Thunder Shock x2! Use mod xp bar if Pidgey is KO’d.)

Damien was just another trainer to add to the tally of the many that Falkner had seen over his time as gym leader that showed up to his gym with electric type pokemon as a solution to his flying type pokemon. It seemed that today the weather was a flying type pokemon's paradise as the sunny day was hampered by powerful winds, thus providing a tailwind for all sorts of avian pokemon. Falkner had a grin on his face as he looked over towards Damien, he was planning to take full advantage of the lethal tailwind that they were treated to today to assist his flying type pokemon in securing a victory. "Pidgey, let's go, hit it with your Sand Attack!"Falkner's Pidgey was more than happy to oblige to his trainers command as he scooped up a bunch of sand with his feet and flung it towards the sheep pokemon. The sand hit Storm directly in the eyes as the electric type pokemon's accuracy had been diminished as it struggled wildly to clean its eyes of the rough substance that had now taken refuge in his eyes. Despite the fact that Storm was now temporarily visually impaired, yellow sparks appeared around Storm's ears as he fired a blast of yellow electricity from his body towards his flying type opponent. Falkner's Pidgey took a direct hit, the advantage that electric moves had over flying type pokemon was resounding and the state that the avian pokemon was now in was a reflection of this, he surely couldn't stand to take another one of those attacks. Falkner noticed that Damien was motioning for Storm to charge up another electric type attack, not so fast buddy he thought, "Alright Pidgey, now let's get in a Tackle attack!"Pidgey had seen better days that was for sure after barely being able to withstand Storm's first attack in the battle, despite this the avian pokemon used the vicious tailwind to his advantage and crash tackled his body into that of the sheep pokemon's. Falkner looked on nervously, he could only hope that Damien's electric type would miss his next attack due to its vision being impaired from the previous sand attack move. It seemed that Falkner's hopes felt to a whim however as much like before, Storm the Mareep fired a blast of yellow electricity from his body as sparks appeared around his ears, the lethal electric type pokemon connected cleanly with Falkner's Pidgey as the flying type pokemon screeched out in pain before falling to the gym floor, well and truly unconscious. Falkner returned his fainted Pidgey to his pokeball, "You gave it your best effort Pidgey, thank-you for that"Most trainers that visited the Violet City gym tended to make quick work of his Pidgey, his next pokemon however was a fair bit more experienced and had definitely caused a fair share of trainers some grief over his time as gym leader. Falkner reached for the pokeball that contained his next pokemon as he tossed the ball out in front of him, thus releasing the pokemon from inside, "Come on out Pidgeotto, let's give these guys a real fight to remember!"Pidgeotto was the evolved form of Pidgey, a strong and faster looking version of its pre-evolved form. Falkner was ready for whatever Damien would do, however it did seem after glancing over towards his Mareep that something strange was going on... (OOC: Self-updating Storm, Storm evolves into a glorious Flaaffy and forgets Cotton Spore in favor of Charge.)
With Storm’s vision already hindered by the pidgey’s first sand strike, Damien knew Storm would have to get the next attack out as soon as it could. A quick tackle to Storm had dealt a little bit of damage before it would get a chance to land another strike on its opponent. “Hit his pidgey again, Storm!” Damien called out to his mareep, who was still having a bit of struggle seeing his opponent. “You can do this!”
With a little bit of focus, Storm managed to land another hit upon the plump avian creature, Enough damage to finish it off. “Great job Storm!” Before Storm could give a response back, however, he began to glow. “Mar--mareep!?” Storm questioned what was happening, as the electric sheep became almost invisible in bright light as Damien watched. When the light faded, Damien could see now what had happened. His mareep had evolved into a flaaffy! It was the first time Damien had ever actually seen a Pokemon evolve himself or even had one of his Pokemon evolve.
The new flaaffy seemed to be analyzing itself. The full-coat of wool it had previously carried was now left to his head and collar regions. Storm noticed his blue skin color had turned pink. None of these would compare to what else he would notice-- He could stand now! “Flaa… Flaaffy! Flaaffy!” Storm excitedly let out. He stomped around a bit, with a bounce it each step. His wool, although covering his body less, felt an even stronger static power. Storm was excited that he had evolved, and even became stronger!
“Look at you Storm!” Damien said happily to his Pokemon. “You evolved! I’m proud of you!” As Falkner then would proceed to send out an evolved form Pokemon of his own, Storm turned his position back towards the battle and towards his new competitor. It looked similar to the pidgey he had just faced, but somewhat stronger. Storm had an eager look towards his competitor, but was hardly containing a slight smile.
“Alright Storm!” Damien called out to his flaaffy. “Let’s try something new. Try to charge up some power! Use Charge!” "Flaaaaffy!" Storm nodded. With this, the flaaffy began to charge up electricity in its wool and body.

Falkner stiffened when Storm evolved and he snapped for his breath as the flaafy stomped around joyfully and got used to his knew body. Pidgeotto looked like it had a hard time believing what it had witnessed, what was the odds?! "Well, it is clear who Lady Luck smiles to, today," Falkner forced out with a laugh. He did his best to swallow his frustrations and briefly wondered why he hadn't heard his father talk about these problems. Had he never had them or had he just avoided talking about it? The gym leader took a deep breath and tried to ignore the bitterness that rose in his belly, this was unfair! He was supposed to be a challenge and he and his birds had trained hard to be able to counter pokemon just like Storm, but what could he do when they were just too strong and then evolved on top of that? He could only do so much and he hated seeing his pokemon faint after he had been forced to sent them into situations like this. The wind blew his blue hair around and Falkner exhaled and reminded himself that he was a gym leader and that he had known the risk when he had accepted the titel. Although it was hard to understand before you experienced it yourself. Falkner had to remain professional and he had to keep a calm head, this was not over yet! They had trained for it and while it might not be enough it was a chance, and he would not hand over the badge easily. His mouth was dry as he spoke and gave his order to Pidgeotto, hopefully it wasn't too late, speed was on the essence here! "Pidgeotto, Pidgey has laid the ground for you, Mud-slap!"Pigeotto dived and skillfully grabbed some clawful clumps of dirt which he dumped right in Storm's face, it was uncomfortable but didn't hurt that much. The worst was his stinging eyes although he didn't need to see for this round. The pidgeotto had watched the gleeful flaafy with resignation, he hated getting zapped and drop from the sky but knew there was no way around it. There was no way he was turning his back on his trainer. Pidgeotto was relieved to hear a command from Falkner and followed it swiftly, even evolved Storm's speed was no match for Pidgeotto and Damien had barely given his order before Pidgeotto had been in and out again. He noticed how bothered Storm was with the sand in his eyes, perhaps there was still a chance? "Whether we like it or not, it looks like it is up to luck now," Falkner said calmly, althogh his twitching hands revealed his nervousness. Damien laughed at Falkner's statement agreeingly, but truthfully didn’t like his team’s successes to be attributed to luck. They did what they could do right, and now it was playing out for them just as they had planned. It was contributed to by the effort that they gave and the preparedness they had coming into this battle. Even though luck appeared to be on their side, all but Storm’s evolution was planned for and part of their attempt to control what they could in this battle.
Falkner’s colorfully plumed Pokemon would strike before Storm could even start to store up energy for the next hit. The slap of mud from the bird came even faster with the wind at his tail, almost knocking the bipedal sheep of his feet. He definitely felt the hit, but wouldn’t let it get to him. Damien knew Storm wouldn’t either. Storm was a tough and determined sheep. Quickly, it began to store the energy inside its body that he would try to use for his next attack. Not that it mattered at the moment, but Storm was having a bit of difficulty seeing, through the effects of both the mud slap and the sand attack.
Waiting just a moment, which was likely enough time for the pidgeotto to get in another hit, Damien then called out to Storm. “Now! Release a powerful Thunder Shock! You got it, knock ‘em out of the sky!” His Pokemon turned back to him and found peace in Damien’s confident expression. They were both in sync in terms of their confidence in battles. They seemed like the perfect team. “Flaaffy!” Storm let out a cry, before attempting to send the electric energy towards the bird Pokemon. He was giving his best effort to hit his target, even with a little impairment still to his vision that certainly had not gotten away.

The nervousness and tension that Falkner was experiencing right now was being displayed through his body language and the dry, stressed sound in his voice. Falkner was hoping that lady luck would smile his way for once, it seemed just about every trainer that chose to challenge his gym had lady luck on their side. Falkner had just heard Damien's next instructions of attack for his lethal weapon of an electric type pokemon and was going to beat him to the punch, he wasn't going down without a fight, that was for damn sure. "Pidgeotto, hit another Mud-Slap attack!"Pidgeotto was much faster than his adversary, the slap of mud from the avian pokemon was boosted by the intense tailwind that was blowing throughout the gym. Storm looked panicked by the amount of mud that was now blocking his vision, his next attack was no doubt going to be a shot in the dark as his accuracy had been severely reduced. Storm's latest Charge attack had beefed up his offensive capabilities to the point that one electric type move was likely to fry a flying type pokemon like Falkner's Pidgeotto to a crisp, he just had to hit the attack, that was all. Yellow sparks appeared around Storm's ears as he fired a blast of yellow electricity from his body towards Falkner's Pidgeotto, or at least where he appeared to be in his impaired vision. Lady luck was definitely not on Falkner's side today it seemed as the electric type move almost missed the mark, connecting with Pidgeotto's talons and sending a violent current of electricity pulsating throughout the avian pokemon's body, the sheer amount of power that the move contained was enough to send Pidgeotto unconscious as the flying type pokemon fell motionless towards the gym floor. "You have got to be kidding me..."Falkner didn't want to sound as though he was salty and sulking about the result of the battle, however he couldn't hide how he was truly feeling after what he had just seen. This wasn't the first time his strategy hadn't quite pulled off as he had planned it to and he was sure it definitely wouldn't be the last. Falkner returned his fallen comrade to his pokeball and moved off to retrieve what appeared to be a bundle of items as he handed them over to Damien, "Congratulations on your victory Damien, today you have well and truly earned this Zephyr Badge, a vital first step in your journey towards challenging the Elite Four of the Johto Region."Falkner nodded his head towards Damien in thanks for the contest, it was back to the drawing board for the flying type gym leader and he was determined to put a stop to the regular influx of trainers making light work of his gym. Falkner walked off towards the end of the gym as the strong gusting winds tossed his blue hair around, he was clearly now enveloped within his own thoughts. Damien defeated Falkner and gained: the Zephyr Badge, TM Roost, 1,560 & Can use HM06 Rock Smash outside of battle! Storm gained 3 levels and is now level 18!

(Will self-update the above and post a transaction request… Also I need to remove the depleted weakness policy. Thanks for the great posts Hunter ^^)
With another slap of mud from Falker’s pidgeotto, Storm’s next move would be a shot in the absolute dark. The chance of Flaaffy hitting was low, but he knew there was a chance he could make it. Letting out all the electricity that he had charged up, Storm knocked the avian creature right out of the sky. The one hit was enough to finish the bird off. Unfortunately, Storm was not able to see the victory because of the mud covering his face.
“We did it, Storm!” Damien called out excitedly to his Pokemon, with his face full of joy. “Here that, Storm? We are on our way to becoming stronger and going even further! You did great.” Before Falkner could walk off, Damien turned his attention towards the flying-type gym leader. “Thank you for the challenge! It was a great battle.”
As Damien and Storm walked out of the gym, Storm was finally able to see a bit more through the mud. “Look at you Storm. You did excellent.” “Flaaaafffy!” Storm said joyously. Storm was still quite excited about it's new found bipedal form. It was on the road again for them after a quick stop by the Pokecenter. Their adventure was just beginning.
(Will also be giving Storm another Weakness Policy to replace the used one, thread complete. ^^)
